  1. “So what we need to do is we need to disavow this political violence on any side. That’s my position . . . We need to reject violence on both sides. Otherwise the situation is going to get very bloody. ”

True enough, but as he observed — somewhat contradictorily a few days ago in a tweet:

“When people can speak freely, they will naturally move to the right. Leftism depends on censorship and acts of intimidation.”

Respect for free speech is not going to work for the left. That’s their dilemma, and our dilemma.

  2. From 1855 to 1861 not sure if the histrical record relects what was the comprensive feel to the people then of the pending tension to eventual conflict. At present it does feel like dark clouds are gathering. If a full storm does come it would seem that an even bloodier mess is in store as no clear north south border line but instead multiple regional conflicts even neighbourhood battles. Perhaps that is where the separation will occur? Much as the former Yugoslavia – where respective parties needed to get to their dominant side. The end there came less with the U.S. /U.N. late arrival but the fact that the fighting was done & they had effectively ethnically separated already.
The book/film Seven Days in May perhaps shows/points to a cleaner, faster, less bloody solution?

  3. @Tom Shuford

  4. Luek says:

As in the 1861 to 1865 American Civil War the catalyst was a house divided against itself and therefore could not stand.

Deja Vu all over again! And the dysfunctional public school system still teaches that the Civil War was fought over slavery. The issue of slavery was never an incentive for Southerners or Northerners to kill someone over or more importantly to be willing to die for.
