As many perks as there are to becoming political elite, the benefits that you can milk from this new-found bonanza can never amount to the point of making you qualified to join the real – economic elites. Hospitals have not been overrun. First, in many cases I can’t tell who’s an American and who isn’t. So, I can name a few that I am ~99% sure are Americans: Rurik, Desert Fox, Avery, SeekerofthePresence. Yes, each one of them appears to have ideas that look weird or downright crazy to those who don’t share them, but so do we.

I know from experience that when you travel on a highway and stopping for food you make an effort of driving 10-15 miles away from it and go to any diner in the small towns there, you see lots of good honest hard-working people. They do not want the Empire sticking its nose everywhere in the world, they know for sure that humans have only two genders (and various freaks, but mental illness does create a gender), etc.

I am pretty sure that these people do not comment anywhere on the Internet. I do so because I spend a big chunk of my time at the computer, writing and reviewing papers and grants, as well as getting my news: here you can compare what you get from different sources, which makes the task of figuring out what really happened easier. Although lately you can’t trust Google to do an honest search, so you have to compare what you find with Google and Yandex.

Self-selection often screws up the result. E.g., I teach graduate students a course based on simple chemistry, math, and logic since 2003. I had >200 grad students in my course over the years, so if I were naïve, I’d claim that my sample is statistically significant. In my multi-year experience, virtually always (something like 15 out of 17 years) among three best students in class there were two females and one male. So, I could naïvely conclude that human females are smarter than human males. However, here is the caveat: boys are more arrogant than girls. A boy considers far lower intelligence as good enough for grad school than a girl, so in grad student population girls are more intelligent on average, but this does not mean that it is so in general population. That’s just one example, life is full of them.
