Grover Cleveland beat Benjamin Harrison in 1884. The same men faced off in 1888, with the opposite result. A second rematch took place in 1892, and Cleveland was restored. If you died in 1892, you didn’t miss a thing during your first four years of death.

What could be drearier or more indicative of calcified politics, save for four consecutive terms of FDR?

Since Joe Biden’s milquetoast Democratism basically make him Hillary Clinton not-in-a-pantsuit, we now face the dreadful possibility of a third Donald Trump run and a second Biden run that feels like his third. This could be a presidential campaign between two eldercoots we would have been better off never having seen run for, much less achieve, control of the executive branch in the first place. And it could happen all over again.

A Trump v. Biden rematch, of course, is the exact opposite of what we want.

Two years from now, on Election Day 2024, Trump will be 78 and Biden will be nearly 82. Nancy Pelosi will be 84. There’s nothing wrong with old age per se — wisdom, experience, blah blah blah — but Biden, 78 at the time, didn’t have the energy to run a full-fledged campaign last time. What is he going to do when he’s 82, campaign from someplace even more convenient than the basement of his house? Will he Zoom in from bed?

A nation with this many octogenarians at its helm feels more like the Soviet Union during the bitter-end pre-collapse 1980s (Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov and Konstantin Chernenko all died in short order) or Zimbabwe at its most wildly dysfunctional at the conclusion of Robert Mugabe’s endless reign. A country doesn’t have to be governed by millennials to be vibrant or successful. Too many young people in charge can lead to disaster — look at Twitter before Elon Musk swept in. Still, a repeat contest between two incredibly old white guys is algorithmically engineered to generate a tsunami of apathy.

Nobody needs this retread. Well, Trump needs it; he thinks prosecutors will be reluctant to indict him for one of the myriad crimes he has committed now that he is a declared candidate for president, and he is right. But two-thirds of the voters, to the extent that they matter anymore, don’t want Trump to run again. Here, finally, we find bipartisan common ground: Two-thirds of Americans also don’t want Biden to run again!

True, they are different two-thirdses. But there’s overlap. Millions of Americans sing in perfect harmony that they want something or someone or two someones different. That has to count for something — even if it will take a week or two to tally in Arizona. A nation cries as one: Don’t run, baby, don’t run!

Like all politicians, Joe Biden says a lot of things that aren’t true. Unlike things that people actually want, like abortion rights and student loan forgiveness that he lies about, Biden is almost certainly lying when he says he’s running again. And most Americans believe and hope that he’s lying about that.

But he may be telling the truth.

Democrats lost the midterms. But they beat the point spread, so they’re declaring victory. Even as Biden goes from a Democratic House and Senate to a Republican House and Democratic Senate, he is upgrading his report card like a kid using a pencil to change a D to a B. After such a magnificent, pyrrhic victory, maybe he really should run again! The New York Times and at least part of the White House staff seems to think his “victory” has earned him another shot at the White House. “(Biden) regularly notes that he is the only person who has ever defeated Mr. Trump, implying that he would have the best chance of doing it again,” the newspaper reports.

I don’t see the logic. Then, neither does Biden.

The United States has a pretty lame voter participation rate. In a country where it is already hard to convince people that they should care about politics and engage in the electoral system, nothing could be less exciting than recreating the 2020 presidential election — a race that only became exciting after Trump lost and tried to overthrow the government.

Which he did lamely. A younger despot’s putsch would have had more oomph.

But, as referenced above, Trump will stay in, do or die. He must, to stay out of prison. Perhaps Ron DeSantis or some other evil Republican will win the nomination instead. But right now, it’s Trump’s to lose.

Biden, therefore, is the only human who can spare us from the horror of a 2020 replay. If he really loves America, if he cares about the American people, he will do the right thing and refrain from running again.

Thus clearing the field for Hillary.

  1. America needs a JFK.

A young (mid 40’s) veteran with an actual education that is meaningful. A history of previous election success. A magnetic personality that will attract the right kind of followers and the right kind of people to serve in his administration.

Where the fuck is this guy already? Enough with the geriatrics, cunts, vapid facemen without an original thought, and certainly we can do without the caveman looking stroke victims.

…….using a pencil to change a “b” to a “d”…. perfectly describes the late harvests of mail in ballots but don’t worry we should have the ballots counted by next year (holidays and all). isn’t it odd that the senate is still spilt down the middle, with the exciting horse race, still to come in georgia (run, hershal, run!), which i’m sure will be another photo finish ( requiring another month of counting the votes).

by the time the smoke clears the republicunts will have a “slight majority”, allowing them to chair committees and giving them oversight. long story short, hunter will be the scape goat, as dr. jill informs a devastated nation, that joe biden has been diagnosed with dementia (gasp) and can no longer serve the country, to which he gave his life. as joe served two years of his term, camel-horse harris will be able to serve the last two years of his term and be elected to two more full terms……which seems to be their plan, personally, i don’t think it will work out to their liking.

Lots of luck with that. I don’t think a military veteran is a very good idea. There’s a reason no-one who went to Nam became president. America doesn’t win wars, every veteran would stink of being a representative of a failed campaign. Even proxy wars ye do not win.

Given the power of the MIC, it is surprising that EVERY president isn’t required to be a veteran. There have been 29 Presidents who had military service although a case could be made to exclude George W. Bush.

  6. If had any money I would bet all of it that a Democrat will “win” in ’24. It won’t be Brandon. It won’t be any white man. It will be another meat puppet but one that is not senile. Trump is already running. Soon he will be running from prison.

I pray that DeSantis does not run. He will not be allowed to win. We need him in Florida. Even if he were to become President there is nothing he could do to reform Imperial Washington. Superman, Spiderman and Batman together could not dislodge the Deep State. It’s too deep. Putin and Xi might pull it off. We will see what happens.

Fact Check: President Xi will NOT assist Ron DeSantis, who believes in the Uighur Genocide fiction and blocks any educators from discussing how Chinese Communism functions. He is an enemy of the People of China.

  14. The only person the Deep State has openly and feverishly and frantically worked to remove from office and stop from running again is…Donald John Trump.

Think about it: he’s the first president to be impeached twice.—-and one impeachment was when he was already out of office—and he beat them both.

With the corporate media cheering on those impeachment coups as if they were legitimate. With the FBI literally paying for false information and lying to FISA courts and spying on him to try to bring him down. Heck they had to rig the 2020 election just to stop him.

Not W. Not Obama. Not the puppet Biden. Not DeSantis (the Deep State’s substitute false version of Trump).

Nope. Donald Trump. He’s there enemy.

This man has all the right enemies. All the bad guys are out to get him. Why? Who knows. But…

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Trump has all the right enemies.

Trump 2024. Until other bull comes into the china shop.

  15. @Anon

Why do you say that Harding’s “govt was corrupt to the core”?

We were all taught, of course, to believe and parrot that. But the only instance ever cited is the Teapot Dome scandal, which when studied pales in comparison to those of many other presidents’ administrations, and which AFAIK didn’t involve Harding personally.

On the other hand, from what I’ve read Harding (1) dealt relatively admirably with Eugene Debs and (2) seemed committed to resisting the Exceptionalism that took off under Wilson and has since ruined our country and much of the world.

We’re here to learn, though, so please substantiate your assertion.

Trump tweeted an image from a spy satellite, declassified document shows
    November 18, 2022

Three years ago, Donald Trump tweeted an image that left intelligence experts gobsmacked.

The picture was of a rocket that had exploded on a launch pad deep inside of Iran. It was so crisp, that some initially thought it may not have been taken by a satellite.

“This picture is so exquisite, and you see so much detail,” says Jeffrey Lewis, who studies satellite imagery at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. “At first, I thought it must have been taken by a drone or something.”

But aerospace experts quickly determined it was photographed using one of America’s most prized intelligence assets: a classified spacecraft called USA 224 that is widely believed to be a multibillion-dollar KH-11 reconnaissance satellite.

Clearing the field for Hilary! ROTFL!

It still astonishes me that people keep making an issue of Biden’s age. Biden is not in charge! Biden is not making decisions! How many brain cells does it take to sit drooling at a desk and sign what is put in front of you? The decisions are being made by people like Soros and Gates and Zuckerberg etc., and these people are very smart – and amoral and they have declared war on the working class. And they are winning.

I’d like to see Biden run again, a desiccated corpse being installed in office might finally convince people that it’s all rigged. He could be dead and stuffed by a taxidermist and nailed to the chair in the oval office and it wouldn’t matter.

Does the constitution require that a president actually be alive? What a triumph of diversity to have a dead president actually in office! Unless you are one of those evil necro-phobic people.

I’m voting for Trump, not because I love the guy, but because my enemies hate him. I’ll consider DeSantis the day that he is accused in all the media of being a stooge for Putin, not a day before.
