When Daylight Savings Time is considered racist, how do you even take the claim seriously?[CNN claims Daylight Savings Time ‘disproportionately’ impacts ‘people of color’, NY Post, November 26, 2022]:
A recent online article from CNN argued that Daylight Savings Time disproportionately affects the sleep and health of minority communities.
The piece, published on Friday by CNN Health reporter Jacqueline Howard, argued that Daylight Savings Time often disrupts sleep, throws off people’s circadian rhythms and can contribute to general health problems.
And since people of color have a higher number of health problems, this means observing Daylight Savings Time is more dangerous for them.
The piece began by citing Vanderbilt University Medical Center Sleep Division professor, Dr. Beth Malow, who claimed, “Daylight saving time is associated with increased risks of sleep loss, circadian misalignment, and adverse health consequences.”
Howard also cited National Institute of Environmental Health Science researcher Chandra Jackson, who stated, “Poor sleep is associated with a host of poor health outcomes, including obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and certain cancers, including of the breast and colon.”
Jackson added the key point, stating, “Many of these health outcomes are more prevalent in the Black population.“
Howard noted, “it’s not that White adults don’t also experience a lack of sleep and its health consequences – but people of color appear to disproportionately experience them more, and that’s believed to be largely due to social systems in the United States.”
Recent research done by the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation’s Dr. César Caraballo-Cordovez found that “among more than 400,000 adults in the US, between 2004 and 2018, the prevalence of short and long sleep duration was persistently higher among those who were Black and Hispanic or Latino.”
Caraballo-Cordovez, mentioned a few of the factors he sees making good sleep and good health harder to achieve for minority groups. He said, “Among those are housing conditions, noise pollution, light pollution, air pollution, stress from different sources – including perceived racial discrimination – and jobs or working conditions.”
Howard claimed that “structural racism” can account for these factors that make sleep harder for people of color. She wrote, “Many social and environmental determinants of health – including living conditions or work schedules that don’t support sleep – may emerge, at least in part, from historical and persistent forms of structural racism.”
She quoted Jackson, who specifically defined structural racism as the “totality of ways in which societies foster racial discrimination through mutually reinforcing systems of housing, education, employment, wages, benefits, credit, media, health care and criminal justice.”

The Turkey Run is an annual Thanksgiving event in Daytona. It’s a big deal, lots of classic cars and people from all over the world attend. I happened to be watching Live PD and lo and behold, they were filming at this event. The film featured a star-studded cast including voice acting from Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Lucy Liu, and Gabrielle Union, and sported a massive budget between $120 and $130 million, the Daily Mail writes.
Expectations were initially high for Strange World with Disney projecting the film to earn between $30 and $40 million dollars over the long weekend. However, those figures were rapidly, and significantly, revised downwards when it was understood how poorly the movie was performing with audiences.

Black people are nocturnal animals, it sounds funny but it’s true; anyone who has spent time around black people knows this. If they are not forced to wakeup for school, work, etc. they routinely get up around 10am – early afternoon. Part of the reason for this is because they don’t go to bed until 2am or after. If you go downtown for a night out on the town, the crowd from 7-11pm is much different than the crowds of blacks who come out afterwards; if you’ve never seen it in person before it’s literally shocking.
Black kids often fall asleep in the classroom because they’ve been playing video games all night or watching movies or worse. Due to the lack of parental guidance in the home, the children are essentially feral animals. Liberal school districts have tried this correct this by pushing back start times as far as they can… it still doesn’t work. If you’re looking at a school district with an oddly late start time – look elsewhere.
So blacks having the very worst eating habits, being involved in gangs and drugs, and their completely dysfunctional lifestyle isn’t the source of their health problems, but Daylight Savings Time is? You really cannot make this stuff up.
Gosh. Seems like blacks and mexicans and all non whites really shouldn’t live in white society. Then they can rest peacefully all afternoon or night long and not have to worry about silly white things like getting to work on time or to appointments on time. Maybe the colored researchers should have checked out how much of the sleep deprivation came from dodging gunfire from the hood? I’d like you to think about this: there’s so much gunfire in black parts of town the white man had to waste his time and energy inventing a machine ( shot spotter) to keep track of all of it. In other words there was so much of it that either a) 911 couldn’t keep up with the volume or b) people got so used to it they just tune it out. I think they’ve reached a point with the shot spotter where they won’t release a graph showing where all the shots are coming from. We can’t have those negative stereotypes confirmed now can we?

I was working a night shift job in Miami and this is spot on. It wasn’t uncommon to see sheboons with toddlers asking for change at a gas station at 11pm+ or pushing a stroller down the street with a couple kids under 7 in tow at 2am, or have teens darting across the street in front of your car at 1am on a school night.
I had to go into the “historic” Overtown neighborhood to troubleshoot an issue at 2am on a Thursday one night. You’d think it was 2pm on a Saturday with the amount of blacks outside socializing, sitting out in front of their apartments, hanging out in the streets, etc. I pulled up to the location, only to have some cracked out black hooker walking in the middle of the street all the junkies and dealers were on, screaming that “Po-po was on the block, that I was a cop, 5-0 was coming thru, etc”.
I was expecting someone to start shooting at me, and my other thought was “I don’t have enough ammo for this”, my carry gun at the time only held 8+1. The following day at lunch time I went and upgraded to heavy duty hollow points for the carry, and started keeping the MCX Rattler in the truck with extra mags. I quit that job not long after, the hours, stress, and location weren’t worth my life.
Apparently daylight savings cuts into their time to do all those other things you mentioned.
You’d think they’d appreciate an extra hour to kill their rivals, and enjoy drugs during fall back, and getting their welfare benefits an hour earlier during spring forward….bunch of ingrates.
