I remember in the 70’s when we were told that if blacks were able to attend the same nice schools in good areas as Whites instead of the older school buildings in run down areas, they would do just as well academically. Blacks WERE and still are a problem in Detroit.
While living in Detroit, I was able to keep up my property with no difficulty, painting the house (outside) on a regular basis, mowing the lawn and keeping the shrubbery trimmed-normal maintenance for any homeowner.
Contrast my maintenance efforts and results with my black “neighbors” who did not keep up their property. You see, in the 1970s HUD had “special programs” to move blacks into single-family housing, without requiring these blacks to have any “skin in the game”.
Of course, being white, I did not qualify for any of these programs.
The liberal “urban studies” folks at Wayne State University always made excuses for blacks and their cultural inability to maintain their homes…the lack of “upkeep” (normal everyday maintenance) on their homes. Their main excuse was that “the homes were old”…
On almost every block, whites (mostly elderly Polish) who could not afford to move STILL kept up their homes–freshly cut grass, well-maintained exteriors, etc. despite their homes being just as “old” as those owned by blacks. No matter where you went in Detroit, one could always tell where whites lived. Neatly manicured lawns and well-kept-up houses were the norm.
I finally left Detroit after a number of burglaries and little or no police response. The police KNEW who the criminals were but did nothing about it. You see, blacks were “oppressed” and were “untouchable”.
Another situation was the “code enforcement” harassment that us whites endured. We always used the city-supplied trash containers (one for every two residences). Our black “neighbors” were too lazy to put their trash in the containers, strewing their trash throughout the alleys. Guess who got repeatedly ticketed for “improperly disposed of trash”? It wasn’t the blacks who improperly disposed of their trash–it was us whites. It was as if they (the black-run city government) wanted us out…
No, the old liberal excuses that poverty was instrumental in the destruction of Detroit is totally false.
All one has to do was ask the party (liquor) store owners why they put up with the likes of blacks. The Detroit “ghetto” was (and is still) quite a “gold mine” for liquor, lottery tickets and junk food.

They don’t give a shit about being on camera, if anything, seeing themselves or one of their friends on the news committing a crime will cause them to flee the city/state until the heat dies down, or laugh at footage of D’Tavious’ dumb ass getting shot by a store clerk while trying to rob a gas station.

I see this all the time, pull up in a parking lot to go to the grocery store and they drop a bag of fast food trash on the ground by their car and go in the store, passing by multiple trash cans on their way in. I was at a stop light and watched a groid finish a bottle of soda as he crossed the street, instead of putting it in the trash can on the corner he crossed to, he kicked it down into the storm drain. You can tell when they’ve been at the beach because they will leave chicken bones, dirty diapers, food wrappers, Dollar Store toys, and assorted other trash on the sand around where they’re sitting.

A contractor friend of mine does a lot of work for the county and installed new playground equipment in some groid neighborhood about 6 months ago because the other equipment was broken/damaged/vandalized, and the orcs were complaining or some sprog got injured and mama sued, so the park updated it. My friend had to go back a few months later because someone hit it with a car (it’s in the middle of a park, not near a parking lot), and he told me the stuff he installed was already trashed, broken, covered in graffiti. Blunt wrappers and liquor bottles/broken glass all over, despite a bunch of nearby trash cans.

Amtrak seeks student applicants for rail scholarships

Amtrak yesterday announced it will award 11 scholarships to full-time college students with an interest in rail careers.

The railroad’s Academic Scholarship Program is designed to help full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are “passionate about rail,” Amtrak officials said in a press release.

Applications are due Jan. 31. Scholarships are valued at $3,000 or $5,000.

Scholarships categories include:

• high school seniors who identify as Hispanic/Latinx, African American or Asian American/Pacific Islander;

• female students pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in science, technology, engineering or math;

• students with an interest in rail engineering;

• students studying information technology, computer science or a similar field;

• students in nontechnical subjects such as business, finance, marketing or supply chain; and

• A. Philip Randolph, a scholarship for children, spouses, civil union partners or domestic partners of Amtrak employees, retirees or furloughed employees.

Candidates are encouraged to submit more than one application. The funds will help full-time students cover the costs of tuition, fees, books and/or equipment.

That’s a good description of the typical black mentality when it comes to insults and the resultant reactions. However, what they really need to learn is not to take things personally and to consider the source and the motivation for the insult being made in the first place. On that note, I once worked with mental patients and that’s one of the first things we learned as we were going to be called every name in the book and have ever vile accusation imaginable hurled at us by patients.

The point I’d like to make is that the reason people make insults is precisely to get the reaction they want out of you. It’s a manipulation and a way for them to seize power and control. You are then no longer in control- they’ve taken control. They have the power you’ve surrendered to them. It may have unforeseen consequences to the insulter but that’s not their intention. Their whole purpose is to control and manipulate your behavior for their own purposes and have you behave and react in the way that they (not you) want- namely for you to become angry, hostile, reactive and offended. At that point, if you surrender to the manipulation, you are no longer in control of yourself and have handed that control to them. Once that whole process is understood, insults and the behavior of insulting really becomes rather comical and laughable.

On that note, the whole concept of pride is one that leads people into the reactive trap when they should know better. My general reaction when someone starts hurling insults or saying atrocious things is to simply respond, “Who are you to me that I should care what you think or say?” I can smile at them because they’re nobody to me, they don’t know me, and their insults mean nothing and have no value. Essentially, it’s just the squawking of a manipulative idiot and deserves no response except laughter or better yet, their being ignored altogether.

There are many corporate efforts to “reach out” to the community and provide “help” for those who are elderly, “disadvantaged” and “poor”. Although such programs are well-meaning, they don’t help the people who truly need it.

One such effort in Detroit was a program called “Paint the Town”. This effort involved local businesses that would “volunteer” their employees to provide help to the elderly and those who were deemed to be “disadvantaged”.

My company “volunteered” a number of us employees to contribute to this effort. Initially, I looked forward into helping out those who were “disadvantaged”, making things easier for them in their community. The gamut of services provided varied from picking up trash and landscaping to painting houses and doing minor repairs.

My “crew” was assigned to paint a house. There was a family consisting of a man and woman (not elderly) and three (grown) men (children), approximately 14 to 18 years of age.

These “children” watched us work, painting the house while smoking “blunts” (marijuana) and drinking their “fortys” (alcohol), while laughing at us white “fools”.

The “man of the house” was OK with the color while the woman of the house constantly bitched and complained about the color.

The question that I never vocalized, but was in the back of my mind was “why don’t these people clean up and paint their own house”?

I, for one would be ashamed if “outsiders” came into my neighborhood to do things that I should be doing for myself.

After my stint on “Paint the Town”, I told my employer that I would NEVER participate in such a project ever again.

That is correct. I totally agree. However, it’s critical to note that blacks didn’t actually “get worse”. That implies that they were once good and went bad, or that they are merely chess pieces that were placed in bad positions by others (LBJ, Obama, etc.) They’ve always been like this. They were just held in check before. Even then, it didn’t always work.

So I agree blacks will never be an ornament and a blessing to society. At the same time, if they were given firm guidelines and encouraged to strive to comply with those guidelines, they would genuinely be better than they are now, when they have developed a culture that is a product of the opposite having been the case for sixty years.

The old Southern racist paradigm that blacks were children is about right. They are children. That doesn’t mean that they are inherently and irredeemably evil; if anything, a decided if insufficient majority of them are decent enough.

It does mean that the only way to deal with them that is practical and yet humane is as if they are children; they can be accorded only certain rights, and we have to keep our expectations of them within reason. I give my eight year old an allowance; I don’t put him on my credit card.
