CNN political commentator and former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum saw his political and media career quickly evaporate after being found by police in a Miami Beach hotel room last week with a gay male escort, an apparent overdose, crystal meth, vomiting, incoherence, and much more. Gillum announced he was entering rehab and retiring from public life for a while.

The Miami Herald was brutal about this “rising star” of the Democrat Party:

[E]verything Gillum built over the last quarter-century fell in scandal Friday morning with the release of the Miami Beach police report documenting the events early Friday in room 1107.

The description in the report of a too-inebriated-to-talk Gillum vomiting in a toilet while a collapsed companion received chest compressions destroyed all expectations for a political future that many anticipated would include a 2022 rematch with Gov. Ron DeSantis or a run against Sen. Marco Rubio.

Gillum, by far the most energetic figure in Florida Democratic politics, shrank quickly into the background.

CNN could only muster one online story by media reporter Oliver Darcy, which came before Gillum’s rehab announcement.

My guess is that orcs haven’t yet figured out that trying to do a dive-and-swoop in front of a tractor trailer on the interstate doesn’t quite yield the same results as trying it on an old white guy in a nice car. So now instead of them hitting the ghetto lottery from a dive-and-swoop, it’s their next-of-kin. What’s next? Stopping on railroad crossings in front of locomotives, and then suing the railroad when the train doesn’t stop in time??

It’s always the gun, the semi, the locomotive or whatever that’s dangerous…but apparently never the orc that gets thrown into the equation, and actually CAUSES the carnage.

Oh, the last statistics I heard, for Maryland, are 51 cases in Montgomery County (heavily Latino), 31 in Prince George’s (heavily black). The two counties that border DC. Surprisingly, only 11 cases so far in Baltimore City, but I’m sure that now that it’s in a highly populated area like that, it’s going to take off. And I’m sure that since it’s the minority counties getting hit hardest, for now (MC and PG combined make up more than half of Maryland’s total cases so far, which is now 149), cue the whining about this disease being rayciss an’ shee-it.
