It’s almost as if no one wants to live around the diversity they are forced to publicly celebrate as America’s greatest strength. It’s almost as if people realize certain non-white segments of American society lead to the degradation of property value, quality of schools and commercial investment in a community.

It’s as white people, in the face of increasing diversity, still yearn for self-determination. [Georgia Cityhood Push Divides: White Flight or Self-Rule?: Georgia’s Republican-controlled state Legislature has passed legislation that would give three mostly white areas of a metro Atlanta county the chance to form their own cities this year., AP News, March 3, 2022]:

In the 2020 election, Jerica Richardson and two other Black women gave Democrats control of the commission overseeing this affluent suburban Atlanta county for the first time in decades.

Now, the Republican-controlled state Legislature has passed bills that would give three largely white parts of the county a chance to form their own governments during Georgia’s primary elections ahead of the midterms.

The new cities would take over key parts of the county’s decision-making power. Two of them would be in Richardson’s district, which GOP lawmakers have also reconfigured in a way that draws her out of her seat.

Proponents of the cityhood measures say local residents need adequate representation and greater control over development. Some critics see race as a driving factor.

Two of the cityhood efforts reflect a “pattern of backlash against the election of three Black women to the Cobb commission,” said State Rep. Mary Frances Williams, a Cobb County Democrat.

Richardson was more circumspect.

“I can’t speak to the hearts and minds of my peers,” she said in a recent phone interview. “Certainly some things don’t quite add up.”

Georgia catapulted into the U.S. political spotlight in 2020 with President Joe Biden’s victory in the state and the election of two Democratic senators weeks later that gave the party control of Congress. This year’s midterm elections are sure to sustain the attention, with one of the Senate seats up for grabs, former President Donald Trump roiling the GOP gubernatorial primary and Democrat Stacey Abrams running again for governor.

But the fight for Georgia runs deeper. Over the objections of Democrats, the state Legislature has overridden local officials to redraw district maps for county school boards and commissions, including in Cobb County. Many Democrats have also opposed the legislation to hold referendums on creating the three cities in Cobb — Vinings, East Cobb and Lost Mountain — and carving out the tony Buckhead area from Atlanta.

Supporters of the three Cobb County city proposals say race and politics have nothing to do with their efforts. Cobb — home to the Atlanta Braves’ stadium — lies about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Atlanta and is one of the most populous counties in the state, with more than 760,000 residents stretching over 340 square miles (880 square kilometers).

The county’s population has grown too much to be adequately represented by a five-member commission, said Republican State Rep. Ginny Ehrhart, a sponsor of the Lost Mountain legislation.

“The underlying principle is that people want representation close to home,” she said.

Lost Mountain in western Cobb County would have a six-member City Council for roughly 76,000 people — a population figure that would make it the 12th largest city in the state. The county commissioner for the area represents a population of 200,000 people, according to Ehrhart. East Cobb and Vinings would also have a much smaller ratio of population to elected representatives.

The three cities would each take over planning and zoning, code enforcement and parks and recreation from the county. East Cobb would also create its own police and fire departments.

On a recent Monday morning, shoppers trickled into The Avenue, an outdoor mall with a Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn in the proposed East Cobb boundaries. A few miles away, a sign urging voters to form the city stood on a lawn in a subdivision of million-dollar homes along the Chattahoochee River. Gov. Brian Kemp signed the East Cobb bill into law Feb. 15, setting up a May referendum.

The cityhood effort there preceded the new county commission, said Cindy Cooperman, part of a group of local residents advocating for the new city.

“It really is about bringing an idea to the table whose time has really come,” she said.

Opponents worry it will raise costs and reduce the quality of fire service.

“It’s a solution looking for a problem,” said Mindy Seger, with the East Cobb Alliance.

Seger said she thinks politics and race are factors in some people’s support for a new city. But she said that reaction is also galvanizing opponents.

“I think people equally oppose it because they see it as something that is a response to the changes in leadership and the party shift in the county and because our district commissioner is a young accomplished Black woman, our district chair is an accomplished Black woman,” she said.

Cobb County has long resisted an extension of the region’s commuter train system, MARTA, with some residents citing concerns it will lead to urban growth. Supporters of the Vinings, East Cobb and Lost Mountain efforts have similarly argued that they want to preserve the suburban character of their areas. Ehrhart has touted western Cobb County as a place where “there are still horse farms.”

Those arguments appear neutral on issues of race, but they have racial implications in metro Atlanta, said Michan Connor, a scholar at George Washington University who has studied cityhood efforts in the region.

Cobb County and other nearby suburban areas owe their massive population growth in part to an exodus of white residents from the city of Atlanta during the 1960s and ’70s over concerns about the civil rights movement and desegregation, Princeton University historian Kevin Kruse writes in his book “White Flight.” The newcomers opposed low-income housing and transit initiatives such as MARTA that they feared would connect them to Atlanta and its minority populations, Kruse says.

Since 2005, voters have approved more than a half-dozen new cities in the region, many of them in those majority-white suburbs. Maintaining the suburban character of those areas means continuing housing and transportation policies that have traditionally excluded Black people and other minorities, Connor said.

“They can say, ‘We’re homeowners, taxpayers. We want to preserve the kind of community we live in,’” he said. “But the history of racism in Atlanta is a material factor in all of those identities.”

Cobb County has become more diverse in recent decades, with non-Hispanic white residents making up just over 51% of the population today, compared with more than 85% in 1990. But in the area that would become East Cobb, white residents would represent more than 70% of the population, according to county estimates. Vinings and Lost Mountain would also have a significantly higher percentage of white residents than the county as a whole. Those two cities’ median incomes would exceed \$110,000, compared with \$78,000 for the county.

State Rep. Ed Setzler, a Republican sponsor of the East Cobb and Lost Mountain cityhood referendums, pushed back on demographic concerns, saying at a legislative hearing in January that he would also support a referendum on cityhood for Mableton, another area of Cobb County that is mostly Black and Hispanic.

A bill for Mableton is pending at the state Capitol but has yet to be voted on by the full House or Senate. The Vinings and Lost Mountain proposals have also been signed by the governor and are set for May referendums.

County officials say their \$1 billion budget would take a \$41 million hit if all four cities formed.

When white people get a chance to vote for embracing the diversity they are mandated to publicly affirm is America’s greatest strength, they instead vote for self-rule and self-determination. We see this happening all over Metro Atlanta, in counties, suburbs and communities where only white people lived three decades ago, but are now majority-minority.

This same thing is happening all over the country, a micro reminder the vast majority of white people privately understand diversity is no great strength, but a bludgeon to reduce the equity in an individual’s home.

After all, property values for single-family homes are the greatest reminder race is not only real, but equality is the social construct.

I happen to live in a high-end home in East Cobb county; most of my friends and acquaintances are against the formation of East Cobb City because they assume ( I believe correctly ) that taxes will increase if the new city is formed. I had not considered that the county’s new overlords might decide East Cobb needs a dose of diversity, good and hard.

East Cobb is known for having the best schools in the county. My kid’s elementary school appointed a new principle last year–a black woman. Four of my kid’s teachers are not coming back next year.

Smaller geopolitical units are less efficient. Why have two police, fire or education departments when one will do but only up to the point where a jurisdiction becomes so large it has to start subdividing itself. Race really has nothing to do with it in these cases. There are just natural limits to how big or small an organization can be and still operate effectively. Some might remember the CEO’s of Megabanks testifying they had no idea some fraud or abuse was taking place in their own bank because that was the responsibility of an underling and beneath his paygrade. So the underling would be fired and the bank CEO would escape punishment and the nothing got fixed.

Megacounties can have the same problem but it is more difficult to fire public sector employees so they are just allowed to resign. Public school districts even had a name for this phenomenon. It was called the ‘Turkey Trot” where incompetent or corrupt officials would just be allowed to resign and find a position in another school district.

Now down in Florida, reapportionment requires the redrawing of political boundaries but negroes do not to participate in this once every ten year event unless it protects their seat. Governor DeSantis does not want a Congressional district in Jacksonville to have a 100 mile long “tail” that is closer to Tallahassee than Jacksonville just so a rubber lipped ape doesn’t have to tone his rhetoric down to win over the new neighborhoods that are now part of his district. These Congressional Black Caucus buffoons only have one speech and that is that everything is racist. Expecting them to meet with and discuss LGBTQXYZ school issues with the local community is above their paygrade and will only confuse his negro base who don’t want transvestite teachers in their children’s classroom even though Pelosi and Clyburn will insist the CBC buffoon vote in favor of just that.

The point is, if you want informed politicans, it is best to keep government as close as possible to the voters so National Party big wigs don’t put local stooges in charge. That favors smaller geopolitical subdivisions even if they are a bit more expensive to run

  12. Does anyone else remember the story where a black chief of police assumed control of a police department in the Atlanta area and immediately fired all the white officers and had them escorted out of the building under the watchful gaze of snipers on the roof? Blacks are fine with that sort of thing but if the reverse were to occur, they’d be screaming about racism and having mass protests. In the same vein, if they take over a neighborhood and chase out all the whites (referred to by blacks as “block busting”), that’s fine too but if a neighborhood is being “gentrified” and improved by an influx of whites, that’s considered evil and wrong. On that note, “chocolate cities” are cause for celebration, but white cities must be condemned as “non-inclusive and racist.” This is the hypocritical double-standard in play as per whites wanting their own areas/cities and for them to remain white.

On another note, I recently watched a video which was about a reversal taking place wherein blacks who fled north during the Jim Crow era and segregation (The Great Migration) are now moving back to cities in the South. The Atlanta area alone has seen an absolutely massive increase in the number of black residents for this very reason in the past couple of decades as it’s considered a “black Mecca.” It comes as no surprise to me that white areas would want to resist being overwhelmed and taken over by these transplants as they spread out seeking gibsmedats, living quarters and “good skools for our chil’ren.” Put simply, they want to infest white areas because they know what they seek can’t be found in black areas.

I was babysitting for my young niece one evening. When I put her to bed, her bed was so full with stuffed animals, there was barely any room for her. When I asked if I could remove a few to make her more comfortable, she told me she loved them all and wanted them in bed with her, so I put her to bed and went downstairs.

About 15 minutes later I heard some rustling upstairs, so I went to check on her. When I got to her room, she was sleeping on the floor. When I asked why, she said she wasn’t comfortable in bed, but that it was ok, her stuffy’s could sleep up there. Not wanting a fight I said OK and turned off her light and went back down.

I again heard rustling about 20 minutes later but didn’t go up until much later. When I did check on her, and peeked into her room, I saw she had moved yet again, and where she was sleeping on the floor before, was full of more stuffy animals she had pulled out of the closet! No doubt, once again uncomfortable she had moved to her final sleeping place that night.

When I think of this incident, I can’t help but draw comparisons to White liberals who destroy their own community with diversity. They then move, and destroy their new city with the same voting habits and policies that made them move from their previous home. Unlike my innocent niece, these are adults who should know better, yet behave like hysterical emotional creatures.

  15. I was born and raised in Cobb County, and left 20 years ago because I saw the writing on the wall. Between the immigrants, blacks, and transplants, the place became unrecognizable, overcrowded, and just not very nice. It became the same old ugly cookie cutter place that everyone brought their old problems to. Unfortunately, the whole state is turning to Newjerseyforniahio with a big contigent of Latinos and Indians, and it’s seeping into small towns across the state. I hate it, and I especially HATE the WHITE transplants who refuse to assimilate and bring their system, prejudices, politics, and norms with them.

On a positive note, Newt Gingrich could never win his old district again, that RINO, Neocon POS fraud. Christina Jeffrey should be able to shoot him without consequence!

But the media and political class keep telling us that the great replacement of whites is an anti-semitic/white supremacy conspiracy theory.

And to think in the mid 1980’s when Oprah Winfrey did a special on “racism” in Cobb County it was about 88% white.

Blacks and Latinos always freak out at the prospect of whites breaking away since they know they’re losing their meal ticket in the form of funding for schools, police and and fire, other services and generally just a first world quality of life. That’s why they move into supermajority white counties and cities in the first place before their numbers grow so large that they destroy the place.

And many years ago, Cobb County was branded the racist and reactionary red-headed stepchild of metro Atlanta, mostly for refusing to buy into MARTA. Cobb thought it could be clever by creating its own public transportation, but the end result was the same as if it had joined MARTA, and it’s partly why the former domain of Larry MacDonald, Newt Gingrich and Tom Price is now represented by two Democrat Karens, one black and one white.

But thanks to redistricting, my black Karen Rep, foisted on me in 2018, will now be running against the white Karen in the neighboring Cobb County district. We should be getting back a GOP Representative in GA-6 November, gid willing and the creek don’t rise. But Cobb’s GA-7 is doomed to Dems.

Yes, you nailed it, Rooster. I think about the two people who most rudely and sanctimoniously called me and my wife names, and attacked our character and judgment on “racial and cultural issues.” They repeatedly talked shit about us on these issues to other family members, behind our backs of course, then denied it.

One was my (former) friend the wealthy hypocrite “progressive” MD — a brilliant if obnoxious and ill-informed white guy. He lives in an ultra-safe exclusive neighborhood near San Diego (almost all white, asian and jewish people with very high incomes, almost zero Africans and few Latinos except household, yard, and restaurant workers). He also has no children to worry about, being a selfish shortsighted genetic deadend with little concern for his family and nation. By the way, he left California — after lecturing me about how it was the greatest place and an example for the rest of America despite backwards people like us.

The other angry and insulting comments came from one of my own siblings. She has lived just about her entire adult life in rural-to-exurban communities, including decades operating a farm with her husband. Those communities weren’t in great shape, but they had almost no Africans and enjoyed nice low rates of murder and rape, decent safe orderly schools, etc. When they gave up on farming, they moved to an area with many Latinos but again very few Africans — just a coincidence, I’m sure. Lastly, when they retired, they moved to a more rural setting, one of the whitest counties in the country. Another coincidence, I’m sure, since we’re bad and they’re noble and “don’t discriminate.”

Yeah. No way that M. Kanga fucker is American. Just here to Mau Mau us.

  54. @John up north

In total agreement with you. Without negros I’d own a lovely property in Detroit city limits.
Say somewhere off Gratiot near JNAP.

Instead I gotta live somewhere DownRiver.

    I have a dream.
A space borne plague slams into Haiti by way of a meteor and wipes out the infestation.

Whites are immune and get to eventually reclaim paradise. For my retirement gig, I may open a bar/restaurant near the marinas and dive shops. My “hook” would be a stage for small visiting acts.

What would YOU guys build if Whites were to ever reclaim what was once theirs?

    @Bite Moi

Sorry. Jumped to a conclusion, sounded African.

  59. I’m not a boer nor a South African, but this sounds like alot like the Cape Independence movement, just at the municipal level. I don’t riducule that its trying to be done persay, but I do ridicule the language cowardice and, most profoundly- the messiness.

The article clearly states the oh-so horribly racist redistricting would turn the stats from 51% white residents to about 70%. Demographically, we’re light years away from ever being as black as South Africa, yet, a county thats just under three-quarters white “home rule” is the best we can possibly do. There’s just not the conviction to do a USA version of Orania, instead of some vague breakaway to kinda sorta get away from black communism a little. Therefore ,it’s really obvious to everyone that this about materialism- they’re worried about the property values being doomed instead of the white race. Moreover beyond the materialism, this plan won’t stop the rot for even five years.

On a related note, I’m getting really tired of modern day American cities talking about ‘culture’ and ‘community’. Pul-ease. In the age of the internet and lock-step politicians, there’s really zero culture anywhere in the county anymore. Are the rich whites right outside Atlanta trying to use zoning to try and preserve their special East Cobb cuisines? Or the secret East Cobb handshake perhaps? Or are they trying to keep their timeless traditions of gas stations without nightly shootings and homes above fire sale values…

Any US city with over half a million people is cookie cutter, and is run identically to each other. Sportball teams, black ghetto part of town, mexican ghetto part of town, style of barbeques (lol, people really take that seriously), public transit systems… you name it. Its all interchangeable to me. White people are resigned to try and relive any uniqueness that their town or state may have actually had a century ago, but it just ain’t the same from some black-and-white photo collage at some ten dollar ticket museum.

Not likely. IIRC correctly, 200+ years of uncontrolled negro infestation has ruined the land and wiped out all trees and vegetation. The infertile dirt that’s left gets blown apart every time they have a hurricane.

It is effectively a desert island – no paradise to reclaim.

Sounds like my family, where I am viewed as an embarrassment to the “broad-minded” liberals. Too bad there is nothing very liberal about liberalism. I used to laugh at the double standards of leftists, but as race fatigue sat in, I stopped laughing silently and started pointing out the double standards. It was as if I rubbed salt on open wounds. I’m no longer invited to family functions.

Black guy, ex-military like me, living in rooming house I live in was mentoring 15 year old from inner city Atlanta — I met him in our kitchen seemed like a nice sweet kid.

Couple days later he got with another Yute and EXECUTED another kid in premeditated 1st degree murder….I would doubt that was his first rodeo…it’s a bit too far gone at this point for your “solution”…I’ve survived 2 strong armed robberies by Yutes, one of which had a 9mm, because I don’t have any illusions as to the Yutes, you might want to clue in or maybe not….

Compost them and use the product for an organic soil amendment. It’s time that they gave something back to nature.

I lived in almost every part of ATL over a 30 year period. How long have you lived there ? Not very long I would bet. Remember the old battles between North Fulton and Dekalb over who would pay for Grady Hospital and ATL police/fire departments. Off course Sandy Springs bailed because of the disparity in taxes on their wealthy Riverside Drive homes that funded mostly south Fulton. What about the disparities in Fire fighter pay raises who were mostly white versus police officers who were mostly black. Yeah Shirley Jackson sure took care of those fire fighters/ . Remember the millions of dollars of Empowerment Zone cash that Clinton sprinkled all over ATL like a Trumpian golden shower circa 1996 Olympics. You are right, nobody remembers because it disappeared into thin air but Clinton got plenty of votes. The independent study commissioned by Buckhead City Council shows that taxes would go down significantly if they were to incorporate and kick out the extortionist.

I got big kick out of the Dekalb Board of Education getting sued twice to tune of multiple millions by the same plaintiff for racist remarks made by the same black board member about “too many whites” on staff.

ATL is as corrupt as Ukraine, so spare me the moralizing talk about high end homes in East Snob.

The current clown show with Abrams, Nothingsberger and Kemp is a national embarrassment.

I left 16 years ago and it was the best move I have made.

  79. 1 I was born, raised, and live in Cobb County, for a little over 50 years now. 2 I find it assho&eish of you to automatically call all of us racist. And yes your take is racist. Which if that’s what you want, be you, but don’t include my home. There are numerous problems in Cobb and why we want to separate into additional cities besides your racist excuse. This might be a shock to you but I know quite a number of “non-white” people who have money and are great people, because I’m not racist as you are presenting yourself to be. Property values lower for lots of reasons the color of skin your neighbor has isn’t one of them. If your white neighbor’s house has a car on blocks and can’t find his fence then yea it’s going to affect how much you can sale your house for, see I’m Georgian and I know what white trash and rednecks mean and represent and have know tons of them in my years.
I grew up at a time when all southerners were thought of as racist, backward, and stupid. Most of my family and friends who grew up in Cobb had to lose our southern accents early on because back then you were automatically assumed to be stupid. On the news all the southern people were white trash or worse to encourage the narrative but that’s how the country was back then. We all suffered and now our southern only comes out around each other. This is what your talk of non-white people crap. We are all humans grow up and realize this was stupid in the past (and we lost) and it is even dumber now and it is this talk that will guarantee that we lose our country. Your not patriots your racists.

We’ve already lost this country, you knucklehead. You should be less concerned with being considered a “racist” and worry more about the orcs lobbing spears at your house. How can you be this fucking stupid??!!
