Do we call this Atmospheric Racism? [Heat attack: Black seniors bear unequal burden of cardiac deaths from rising temperatures, The Hill, 10/30/2023]:

Elderly Black Americans are on the front lines of a coming spike in deaths from climate change, a new study has found.

Between 2008 and 2019, extreme heat drove at least 1,600 Americans — disproportionately Black and elderly — to an early death from heart attacks

Without aggressive action on climate, that number could more than double by mid-century, according to findings published Monday in the journal Circulation.

Researchers found that if fossil fuel burning isn’t quickly reduced, the number of extra deaths could more than double, reaching more than 3,700 per year.

Even if current proposals to cut greenhouse gas emissions are met — still a politically controversial question — the study found deaths will likely hit 2,000 per year within a few decades.

These deaths will not be distributed fairly across the population, researchers wrote.

Black adults are about four times more likely to die of heat-induced cardiac arrest than white adults, the study found.

And seniors have around four times the risk of heat-induced heart attacks compared to younger adults.

According to scientists from the American Heart Association, the problem isn’t only rising temperatures, but the way heat interacts with how cities function.

Heat turns deadly as it intersects with the other defining inequalities of American cities: unequal access to air conditioning, exposure to pollution, and exposure to the “heat island” effects of large landscapes of asphalt and concrete, according to the study.

And another factor looms behind the data: an aging and increasingly isolated population that researchers found is both more vulnerable to the impacts of heat and more likely to slip through the cracks.

The study builds on months of alarming findings about the deadly intersection of heat and pollution.

A June study in the journal Nature of heart attack deaths in China found that more people died from heat waves when levels of ultrafine particle pollution in the air — a product of fossil fuel combustion — were high.

The presence of high levels of PM2.5, a form of such particle pollution, might even double the number of heart attack deaths from heart waves, according to a July paper in Circulation.

We are at a point in American life where any inconvenience that can be recorded negatively impacting black people is directly related (and explainable) to white racism.

And now the atmosphere is racist.

Climate change is also inherently racist…

You have to ask yourself: if white people were all gone, who would black people blame their troubles upon?

    Honorary whites, of course.

  2. Nico X says:

Stop terming them ‘blacks’ & start calling them what they really are: simians–which perfectly explains their bestial behavior.

  3. Do negroes drive cars? Do they fly jets to go on vacation? Do they heat their homes? Do they eat meat? Why in hell is “climate change,” even if it were real, some kind of racism attack on negroes??
    Fuck them!
If white men got a surge in heart attacks, these same dipshits would treat that with apathy,if not contempt.
And if negroes are isolated, whose goddamn fault is that?
Negroes are the least competent in taking care of themselves. You want to live? Then eat some goddamn olive oil!

  4. “You have to ask yourself: if white people were all gone, who would black people blame their troubles upon?”

They’d still blame whites for leaving them to fend for themselves, and the cities would look like a combination of Mad Max, the current bombed out Gaza strip, and the tin shanty towns in South Africa. Subtropical cities would just become over grown, the I-95 corridor from Jupiter to Key Largo would be like the new Angkor Wat when some intrepid explorers rediscover it in 100+ years.

If Whites, Latinos, and Asians (including dot Indians) all vanished tomorrow, the US would look like Port au Prince within 5-10 years, some areas even sooner.
(This scenario is if the US is left to just blacks, and no other countries try to come and take over or build infrastructure in exchange for resources like China does in Africa)

  5. usNthem says:

1600 supposed extra cardiac deaths, out of a population of 330 million, due to, now raciss “climate change”. Who gaf? Geezers make up about 25% of that number – again, who gaf? These aren’t even rounding numbers. I swear, any statistic or excuse that supposedly shows joggers over/under represented to their supposed detriment will be shoved into White faces. F them…

  6. You have to ask yourself: if white people were all gone, who would black people blame their troubles upon?

Neither the author of the subject article in The Hill nor any of those of the study published in Circulation appears to be black.

So you might also ask yourself: if black people were all gone, who would white people be urged to blame their troubles upon?

But when they actually have to do anything, other than literally play with a ball, or caterwaul into a microphone (on-key is optional), they can’t do a fking thing, and everything in life seems to overwhelm them or outright kill them.

They are a cursed people, and we would do well to send them back.

  10. It’s how they intend to bring communism to the US. Just read what the Bolsheviks did in Russia.

Find a minority group, and convince them that the majority are keeping them down, and need to be held accountable. Undermine the police and the military. Set up squads of thugs to intimidate, silence and attack anyone who fights back. Disarm the population. Create enough fear and chaos so that people will accept a complete annihilation of their civil rights and freedoms to find safety again, and in sweeps the communists to take control.

Since the education system has been destroyed, no one reads history, so they have no idea this is happening.

  11. Maybe diet and lifestyle are bigger contributors to the health issues negroes have. The popular chilli dog with grape drank for breakfast is an example. High calorie, low nutrient value vast food diet is not a food thing. Smoking packs of menthol cigarettes, Swisher sweets (hands up, don’t shoot) and a variety of other lung destroying habits apparently don’t count. Everyday there is some brainiac thinking of a new way to proclaim that racism is the reason why negroes are a totally failed race. Truckloads of government cheese, free housing, single parent families, multiple baby daddies, horrible life styles, obesity, drugs etc apparently have no consequences health wise. Simply put, it’s just raycissss!

  12. Andreas says:

The solution will not be to elevate the behavioral and nutritional habits of blacks.

The solution will be to put whites at the back of the health care line.

Once as many white seniors are dying as blacks, the problem is solved. That’s equity. And no more racism.

It is more of what whites have to look forward to as a result of losing control of their own nation and destiny.

  14. Addendum:

And what’s the basis for Mr. Kersey’s headline?

Prestigious Journal “Circulation” Blames Atmospheric Racism for Reason Black Seniors Bear Unequal Burden of Cardiac Deaths…

There’s no racial distinction – much less hyperbole – that I could see in the Abstract. If you read the full study, was there something there?

An article in The Hill by a non-black journalist pimps scientific research to sustain a narrative of black victimology. Mr. Kersey blaming the scientists, Circulation, and blacks seems misdirected.

  20. It’s much hotter in tropical Sub-Saharan African countries than it is in any “heat island” in any city in North America. Additionally, the large cities in said tropical countries are known for being highly polluted. So, the question is, are Africans in Africa dropping dead from heart attacks from the natural high temperatures and pollution in African countries? If not, why not? Are American negroes somehow more fragile than their cuzzes back in the homeland where the vast majority have no air conditioning?

Never mind. We already know this “study” is a load of horse crap.

When I see videos from various shitholes throughout Africa, one thing I notice is they are all in decent shape, and you don’t see too many morbidly obese ones like you do here, especially among the women. Perhaps it’s the rampant AIDs, bush meat diet, dysentery from open air sewers, and long hours in the cobalt mines that keeps them svelte?

  22. As an IAQ Professional w/ 34+ yrs. of experience, it’s BS that PM2.5 comes solely from “fossil fuel” combustion. Bacterial/viral matter, tobacco smoke, etc. are constituents. In coastal areas evaporation of sea water adds to PM2.5.

And whre is obesity in this formulation? A walkthrough of our local Publix is educational. Masks too.

Furthermore, my take is that since “mold” has played out, the Eco-Nazis need something new.

This study can be summed up with one phrase: racism of the gaps. Whenever blacks and whites don’t match up percentage wise in anything ( besides the makeup of pro football and basketball players) then that discrepancy can only be the result of racism. Heather Macdonald has calls it disparate impact. She’s actually written a book about it and has given dozens of lectures and speeches about it. Nobody will debate her on most topics because they’d be humiliated. She’s definately worth checking out. My negro fatigue us growing exponentially with each one of these studies I see and how they try and shoehorn white guilt into every single disfunction in the pavement ape community. We’re to the point now where they’re making shit up just to get tax payer funding to do some bogus research on it. A self feeding grift

Did you look into this, or simply rely on Mr. Kersey’s blogpost?

It appears that the racial angle began with the article by Saul Elbein in The Hill, as noted in my earlier comments. Neither the scientists, the journal Circulation that published their study, nor blacks should be blamed for his narrative journalism.

They don’t have EBT cards in Africa so they can’t constantly stuff their faces with free food. Also, the food they do eat isn’t chock full of high fructose corn syrup nor loaded with unnecessary sugar as it is in the USA. Just look at the ingredients of the food in the USA- even things like bread, chili, soups, beef stew, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables etc. all contain sugar when none of these food items need to contain sugar. Also, food in the USA contains chemicals which are banned around the world in many countries due to their negative effects upon health. It’s no surprise to me that many Americans are overweight and unhealthy considering the quality of the mass-produced food products on the shelves at our grocery stores. The only way to escape the problem would be to make all the food you eat from scratch using only healthy ingredients.

  26. It has been long known that poor areas in the USA bear the burden of pollution highly disproportionately. Climate destabilisation is worse in hot, tree-less, inner-city, car bedevilled neighbourhoods. Heat kills, heat plus humidity more so, and add co-morbidities and BINGO!

Speaking for myself, I base my views on the quality of the product. I don’t think I’ve ever read a bigger pile of garbage purporting to be a report on a scientific study. Either black, or maybe a not-very-bright 14-year-old girl. All the cliches, from racism to global warming to intersectionality. This is the stuff for which the term “word salad” was invented.

But Circulation and the scientists did insert race in the narrative. From the abstract of the study published in Circulation:

Non-Hispanic Black adults are projected to have a 4.6 (95% CI, 2.8–6.4) times greater increase compared with non-Hispanic White adults.

For thousands of years, africans have received shelter from the sun beneath the branches of the sacred Baobab tree. A healthy diet of bush meat, grubs, and termites would go a long way towards reducing other co-morbidities.

In your opinion, what is the best way that we could make this happen?

First, thanks for taking the time to look at this.

But the context is important — the researchers apparently evaluated data across a number of demographic categories, and reported what they found:

Elderly adults are projected to have a 3.5 (95% CI, 3.2– 3.8) times greater increase in deaths in the SSP2-4.5 scenario compared with nonelderly adults. Non-Hispanic Black adults are projected to have a 4.6 (95% CI, 2.8–6.4) times greater increase compared with non-Hispanic White adults. The projected change in deaths was not statistically significantly different for other race and ethnicity groups or between men and women.

The journalist published in The Hill was the one who amplified this, beginning with the title of his article:

Heat attack: Black seniors bear unequal burden of cardiac deaths from rising temperatures.

And it’s sloppy at best to suggest otherwise, particularly in the equally hyperbolic headline of Mr. Kersey’s blogpost:

Prestigious Journal “Circulation” Blames Atmospheric Racism for Reason Black Seniors Bear Unequal Burden of Cardiac Deaths…

Man, I don’t know who is selecting your videos, but I’ve lived a lifetime in Africa, and my experience has been very different. Africans like their women, er, chubby. Their diet is usually heavy on carbs. The layer of fat under their skins makes them appear slightly less black – and who doesn’t want to be less black?

Woke “scientists” blowing the dog whistle.

the researchers apparently evaluated data across a number of demographic categories, and reported what they found:

    The conditioned response.

The journalist published in The Hill was the one who amplified this, beginning with the title of his article:

Vox’s definition of dog whistle fits perfect.

“The phrase “dog whistle” has been around for years. It’s political shorthand for a phrase that may sound innocuous to some people, but which also communicates something more insidious either to a subset of the audience or outside of the audience’s conscious awareness — a covert appeal to some noxious set of views.”

  39. I see your point.

But while none of those who undertook or wrote about the study is black, look who gets shredded here in many of the comments.
