In the end, it was stories such as this that reminded those truly paying attention we not only didn’t have a country, but our posterity didn’t have a future. [DOJ Targets Elon Musk’s SpaceX For Allegedly Preferring To Hire U.S. Citizens: Investigating if company “engages in any pattern or practice of discrimination” against non-citizens, CNBC.com, January 28, 2021]:

The U.S. Department of Justice is probing Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX over whether the company discriminates against non-U.S. citizens in its hiring, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

The Justice Department’s Immigrant and Employee Rights division received a complaint of employment discrimination from a non-U.S. citizen, who alleged that SpaceX discriminated against him based on his citizenship status.

“Specifically, the charge alleges that on or about March 10, 2020, during the Charging Party’s interview for the position of Technology Strategy Associate, SpaceX made inquiries about his citizenship status and ultimately failed to hire him for the position because he is not a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident”, DOJ attorney Lisa Sandoval wrote in the complaint filed on Thursday.

The Immigrant and Employee Rights division of the DOJ notified SpaceX by email on June 8 that it had opened an investigation, and requested that SpaceX provide information and documents relating to its hiring process, according to the court filings made on Thursday.

Ad astra per aspera.

The day will come when we shrug off – for good- those who would keep us grounded to the earth.

Those peddling diversity, equity, and inclusion as our greatest moral good advocate for Detroit, Haiti, and Baltimore.

When you look upon the heavens as the guide for our posterity, you realize egalitarianism represents a revolt against nature.

Yep. I should hope that any CEO who gets such an email would say, " Biden and his entire DoJ can kiss my entire ass".

  2. Does China seek to get Chinese spies into higher levels of SpaceX? Perhaps China wants to legally harass SpaceX to slow progress in the company exploration, or to tie SpaceX up financially? Is this a way to limit competition? How about politicians just want a bigger chunk of the profits, so out come the (((lawyers))) to threaten? I’m sensing a plot and corruption enough to go around to all the usual suspects. Wipipo in space? We can’t have that. Call out the Luddites to push the racial panic button and lay some guilt on those people while legally trolling for dollars.

  3. The DOJ is engaging in absolute idiocy. Where is it written (by law) that any company in America has to hire an illegal alien? On the flip side, we can give kudo’s to the DOJ for one thing- at least they’re hiring the mentally handicapped.

  4. Better that they pursue egalitarian policies than what they are really pushing, equity. Equity will deny jobs to the best qualified, and that’s going to matter a lot when unqualified people of a certain color fill the ranks of our pilots and surgeons based on this stupid ideology.

Spectra came out with a statement in support of Black Lives Matter. You, along with more than 1,500 other mathematicians, also signed a pledge to boycott working with police departments. Why was it important for you to sign that letter?

I’m concerned. We’ve definitely had issues with corruption and abuse in the police department in Baltimore. And at Johns Hopkins, there’s this controversy surrounding a proposal by the administration to introduce a private police force on campus. We’re in a situation where Baltimore is a majority Black city, whereas the majority of people on Johns Hopkins’ campus are not Black. That makes me very concerned for Black students on campus, including one of my Ph.D. students.

  7. This is nothing new. Way back in the late 70’s I was told by the largest communication company in the state that at the present time they were only hiring minorities. In the early seventies our government also outlawed IQ testing regarding jobs. Which is really strange because the army uses IQ testing for job qualification. And that makes sense because can you imagine having an IQ type of 80 going to finance, electronics or computer classes? That would be a waste of time and money.
Some of our representatives in congress really hate us.

    @europeasant

In the 1970s, california panicked when, upon administering IQ tests to schoolchildren, black kids were almost all relegated to slow learning classes. The State's solution was to outlaw black kids from being given IQ tests.

"Advanced Placement" classes--which aren't--were a clever way for government schools to keep black kids from interfering with normal, more promising pupils.

Just think about how much better everything will be when every city and neighborhood is fortified with the wonderful vitamins known and diversity and globalism. Then we won’t have to worry about those pesky borders, and amazing new diversified politicians from all over the planet will have input into how you live your lives. I mean honestly the 30 cents from every tax dollar that’s stolen from you every week simply put is you not doing enough. 10. I saw a Youtube video over the weekend that claimed that Elon Musk is now the richest man in the world and history, displacing Jeff Bezos. I wonder if that’s true.

In any case the national obsession with racial myths continues apace. It looks as if the Black Women in the space program is going to be relaunched. The origins of this myth are simple. In the old times around WWII the word computer meant something different than it does today. For example the famous Nobel physicist Richard Feynman was employed at Los Alamos on the Manhattan Project as a “Computer”. That was his job description.

The only mechanical inanimate computers were the early analog “mechanical brains’ you can sometimes see in old Science Fiction movies. These had whirling gears and steel rods laid out on a large table. They were used for math calculations but were never called computers. Computers were people.

Computers were the mathematicians who organized and led teams of clerks and students who did most of the math drudgery. They were not mathematicians themselves. They were basically what we call today Account Clerks – low level accounting functionaries who check additions. They are usually under the authority of a professional accountant. I used to do finance for a government agency. I had a staff of one real accountant and a half dozen account clerks. I liked my account clerks. They liked me. They checked things usually in two person teams. One would read a list of numbers and the other would look at a copy of the list to see if it corresponded.

This is a very common clerical practice in business and government. The confusion arises because in research organizations like Los Alamos these kind of clerks were organized to calculate solutions to complex math problems. They were organized in classrooms arranged in ranks and files of desks. They were sometimes also called computers.

Before digital computers if you had a complex multiple step math problem – like inverting a matrix – you would assign every clerk a desk in a grid of desks a part of the problem and each would do one step in the procedure and pass it to the next clerk to the left or right. You could do this for very large calculations in which none of the participants knew the procedures or the underlying math.

This is the basis for the myth – advanced by the movie – that black women were part of the space program. They were, and they were called “computers” but the procedure allows complex math problems to be broken down into tiny parts which required little or no real math ability.

You know it had to have been something like that. Women in general are worse at math than men. This is an unfashionable statement, but if you ever taught higher math, as I did for years, you come to accept that the ladies are not very good at math. It seems mysterious why this fact is so controversial. Women don’t do well on standardized tests like the SAT or GRE on the math half of the test batteries. But they do as well or better than men on the verbal sections. There are two human symbiology’s – words and numbers. Men do well on one and women on the other. But higher math is almost exclusively the domain of men.

Math is best done by only two of the five continental races also. East Asians and Caucasians – especially Ashkenazi Jews – comprise almost all of the historical great mathematicians and Field Medal winners.

The idea that there was once a a bunch of black women who were vital for the math needs of our space program is what I call BSC – (Bat Shit Crazy).

  12. I don’t know if it’s related but I today I received the text below in an email and I have to wonder if this DOJ action is petty retaliation for Elon Musk moving his company out of the People’s Republic of California. Did someone in the state government call in a favor with Dementia Joe’s DOJ?

From the Sacramento Business Journal – December 31, 2020

As Covid descended on California in March and April of this year, economies began to shut down and the debate raged over what businesses were deemed “essential.” There was a rather public dialogue between Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, and Alameda County authorities regarding the forced shutdown of the Tesla plant in Fremont.

This dialogue was punctuated by a pithy tweet from Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez who describes herself as a Progressive (Socialist) Latina Democrat, “F*ck Elon Musk!”

At that time, we had no idea how much that tweet… and that attitude… would cost us.

Elon Musk rather calmly threatened to leave the state.

The Governor was arrogantly dismissive, saying “Elon Musk isn’t leaving California anytime soon!”

Six months later, Elon Musk has left California. He has sold (or is in process of selling) all his personal real estate in the state.

He is now a resident of the state of Texas. He has moved his philanthropic foundation to Texas. One of his companies, Space X, is based in Texas and Tesla is building a new plant outside of Austin, TX.

Consider the unfathomable irony of in-your-face progressive/Socialist democrats forcing Elon Musk to give up on California?

Musk came to this state as an immigrant and proceeded to do more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through Solar City and Tesla than all the “progressive,” “ultra-leftist,” politicians in the state combined.

Anyone can make a proclamation or talk about climate change.

    Musk didn’t talk about it.

He simply brought products to market that benefitted the consumer, the environment, and his shareholders. He should have been the “poster boy” for the green agenda, but instead they turned on him and tore him apart because he refused to buckle to absolutely arbitrary regulations based on flimsy, most often ridiculous, medical data.

(By the way, automobile manufacturing is now deemed “essential” in CA.)

There is no way to know for sure what Mr. Musk will pay in California state tax this year, but it would surprise no one if he paid the most of any individual resident.

Next year, he will be a much happier resident of another state and pay a small fraction of the taxes squeezed out of him and his employees while in our state.

The damage goes much deeper than the tax revenue of one person. Musk didn’t just leave the state.

He “turned” on the state, as well he should have. It is now his mission to get other innovators to leave as well, as well he should.

According to the Governor of Texas, he is on the phone with Musk at least once a week, strategizing about how to get other CA companies to relocate to Texas.

In the last few weeks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Oracle have both announced they are moving their HQs to Texas, with 13 other potential moves in the pipeline. This will suck a lot of the financial and social life out of CA.

That is not to say this was all caused by one arrogant and explosive, sneering, leftist, tweet. Plenty of other factors are in play.

    · Companies are realizing they don’t need a highly centralized HQ, their employees can be productive from wherever they choose to live.

    · The outrageous high cost of living in the bay area…

    · Governments inability to deal with highly visible issues like homelessness; 2,000,000 in CA and growing by the hour. Executives, their elderly parents and their small children, have grown tired to stepping over syringes and feces in the streets of San Francisco.

But the fact remains, CA state income tax is the highest, CA’s ranking for “business friendliness” is lowest, and we have elected hardcore USA-hating leftist representatives who happily — often to the cheers of their leftist supporter — lob crass, schoolyard, vulgar f-bombs at the people who are paying the freight.

Half, 53.6%, of the tax in this state is paid by less than the top 1% (the top 0.91%), and many in that category are realizing they can easily make their living from anywhere.

Try to add up the lost tax revenues of having the second wealthiest man in the world and the executive teams of great companies, international giants like HP and Oracle, depart the state.

UPDATE: ELON MUSK IS NOW THE RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD

We’re talking tens of billions of dollars in lost revenue every six months. Not to mention the philanthropy, which is gone too.

Ahhh, the good life in the People’s Republic of California!

  15. The headline is deceptive, according to the article the process has been ongoing since long before Biden became President.

  16. I didn’t watch “Hidden Figures” as the premise was ridiculous to begin with. OTOH I do watch NASA TV for its historical films and interviews with the ACTUAL men ( and women) who pioneered the American space program. It is shocking to see how many negro women are currently employed by NASA as supernumeraries with impressive titles like ‘System Engineer” or “Program Manager” but when they speak they leave no doubt they AA hires collecting paychecks and contributing nothing to whatever program they are assigned.

OTOH there was Marjorie Townsend who developed most of the telemetry used in the first weather satellites and was a serious engineer with a serious resume including ‘program manager’ where she and her team actually had to create a working data collection system for the spacecraft they were building.

I recall watching a news conference featuring Deke Slayton, the head of the US astronaut program. He was introducing the 2nd class of astronauts who would man the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft. After the introductions and a few questions Slayton sat down and asked ‘is there anything else’ from the assembled press corps. A voice yelled out “Did you consider any negro astronaut applicants?” Slayton tersely answered “No, no I didn’t” and left the room. Turns out he had been asked by some officials to do just that but Slayton said he would have to expand the number of new astronauts to 17 instead of the planned 10 because number 17 was the highest ranking negro candidate he had.

Just to show you how historically accurate "Hidden Figures" was, when it started off it took place in 1961. There was a scene, where a cop gives the ladies a police escort to their Langley Research Center, or whatever facility it was. The police car he's driving is a 1964 Ford. That was probably the most factually realistic part of the movie.

One of the hugest consumers of “computed” numbers was Artillery Fire Direction. The calculations are INCREDIBLY complicated since you have to include CHANGING Air Densities on ELLIPTICAL flight paths where the projo (fuzed projectile) is first CLIMBING through air of DECREASING density and the DESCENDING (falling) through air of INCREASING density. And then there are the cross winds and stuff. But this was ALL standardized during WW1 and allowed for AMAZINGLY accurate fire. The German’s “Paris Gun” scared the French so badly they assumed the Germans had SPIES in Paris itself observing the fall of the shells. It’s been almost 40 years since I worked with “fire direction center” computers, but I’m guessing it’s ALL done by DIGITAL computer now. The ultimate answer is of course Terminal Guidance, but calculated firing data is dirt cheap and does NOT require any special fuze in the shell.

Musk came to this state as an immigrant and proceeded to do more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through Solar City and Tesla than all the “progressive,” "ultra-leftist," politicians in the state combined.

But the fact remains, CA state income tax is the highest, CA’s ranking for “business friendliness” is lowest, and we have elected hardcore USA-hating leftist representatives who happily -- often to the cheers of their leftist supporter -- lob crass, schoolyard, vulgar f-bombs at the people who are paying the freight.

I didn't watch "Hidden Figures" as the premise was ridiculous to begin with. OTOH I do watch NASA TV for its historical films and interviews with the ACTUAL men ( and women) who pioneered the American space program. It is shocking to see how many negro women are currently employed by NASA as supernumeraries with impressive titles like 'System Engineer" or "Program Manager" but when they speak they leave no doubt they AA hires collecting paychecks and contributing nothing to whatever program they are assigned.

OTOH there was Marjorie Townsend who developed most of the telemetry used in the first weather satellites and was a serious engineer with a serious resume including 'program manager' where she and her team actually had to create a working data collection system for the spacecraft they were building.

I recall watching a news conference featuring Deke Slayton, the head of the US astronaut program. He was introducing the 2nd class of astronauts who would man the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft. After the introductions and a few questions Slayton sat down and asked 'is there anything else' from the assembled press corps. A voice yelled out "Did you consider any negro astronaut applicants?" Slayton tersely answered "No, no I didn't" and left the room. Turns out he had been asked by some officials to do just that but Slayton said he would have to expand the number of new astronauts to 17 instead of the planned 10 because number 17 was the highest ranking negro candidate he had.

Just to show you how historically accurate “Hidden Figures” was, when it started off it took place in 1961. There was a scene, where a cop gives the ladies a police escort to their Langley Research Center, or whatever facility it was. The police car he’s driving is a 1964 Ford. That was probably the most factually realistic part of the movie.

Von Braun, Kurt Debus and company weren't captured they turned themselves into the American forces as they wanted to come to America. They were trapped in the Alps between the US and French forces. Von Braun's brother, who spoke the best English, was sent down the mountain to make contact with the American military. The lieutenant he met had no idea who Von Braun was or that General Medaris the US officer in charge of finding the German rocket engineers was desperately trying to find them before the Russians did. Strangely, the military just told Von Braun to have the engineers drive themselves down and Medaris was only allowed to bring 300 to the US.

They were put in a POW camp initially before being relocated to White Sands and only given a budget of $5 million per year to develop US rockets. That all changed when Sputnik launched and the US suddently realized Von Braun, Debus and Rudolf were 0ur only ticket into space. Von Braun headed the Army rocket program at Huntsville and Debus became the director of the Kennedy Space Center.

I don't know if it's related but I today I received the text below in an email and I have to wonder if this DOJ action is petty retaliation for Elon Musk moving his company out of the People's Republic of California. Did someone in the state government call in a favor with Dementia Joe's DOJ?

From the Sacramento Business Journal - December 31, 2020

This is nothing new. Way back in the late 70's I was told by the largest communication company in the state that at the present time they were only hiring minorities. In the early seventies our government also outlawed IQ testing regarding jobs. Which is really strange because the army uses IQ testing for job qualification. And that makes sense because can you imagine having an IQ type of 80 going to finance, electronics or computer classes? That would be a waste of time and money.

In the 1970s, california panicked when, upon administering IQ tests to schoolchildren, black kids were almost all relegated to slow learning classes. The State’s solution was to outlaw black kids from being given IQ tests.

Something similar happened where I live. A new public high was built in early 2000's. The public school people told everyone that entrance was based on test scores and grades. When the results came in the school administrators panicked. The results were that 75% of the incoming class was going to be White children when white children were only 8% of the systems enrollment. They immediately put a cap at 35% white children in that school. Meanwhile White people keep running for the hills to escape the encroaching jungle. Soon White people will run out of places to run to. There are an estimated 1.2 billion Sub-Africans waiting to escape to racist USA. The shit storm is gathering speed with the BiDevil/Kamala team.

Group wants City of Coon Rapids to change it’s name saying it has a racist connotation

    Updated: February 09, 2021 06:43 PM

One group wants the city of Coon Rapids to change it’s name – saying it has a racist connotation.

The nonprofit Transformative Circle launched an online survey this month to gauge interest in letting voters decide whether the city should be renamed.

Around 450 people took part in the survey. Two thirds were against the name change, one third were in favor of it.

The group plans to bring the results to the Coon Rapids City Council.

“We did get a lot of really good stories from people who are ashamed of the name who don’t tell people where they’re from,” Lori Anderson with Tranformative Circle said. “Who prefer to tell people they are from Minneapolis or a northern suburb or who don’t even come to Coon Rapids because they’re afraid.”

The City of Coon Rapids issued 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS a statement: The survey about changing the city’s name is being conducted by a private citizen group, not by the city itself, and the city respects the group’s right to conduct such a survey. Being that the city itself doesn’t have any direct involvement with the survey, the city doesn’t have an official position on it.

I saw a Youtube video over the weekend that claimed that Elon Musk is now the richest man in the world and history, displacing Jeff Bezos. I wonder if that's true.

In any case the national obsession with racial myths continues apace. It looks as if the Black Women in the space program is going to be relaunched. The origins of this myth are simple. In the old times around WWII the word computer meant something different than it does today. For example the famous Nobel physicist Richard Feynman was employed at Los Alamos on the Manhattan Project as a "Computer". That was his job description.

The only mechanical inanimate computers were the early analog "mechanical brains' you can sometimes see in old Science Fiction movies. These had whirling gears and steel rods laid out on a large table. They were used for math calculations but were never called computers. Computers were people.

Computers were the mathematicians who organized and led teams of clerks and students who did most of the math drudgery. They were not mathematicians themselves. They were basically what we call today Account Clerks - low level accounting functionaries who check additions.

Before digital computers if you had a complex multiple step math problem - like inverting a matrix - you would assign every clerk a desk in a grid of desks a part of the problem and each would do one step in the procedure and pass it to the next clerk to the left or right. You could do this for very large calculations in which none of the participants knew the procedures or the underlying math.

This is the basis for the myth - advanced by the movie - that black women were part of the space program. They were, and they were called "computers" but the procedure allows complex math problems to be broken down into tiny parts which required little or no real math ability.

You know it had to have been something like that. Women in general are worse at math than men. This is an unfashionable statement, but if you ever taught higher math, as I did for years, you come to accept that the ladies are not very good at math. It seems mysterious why this fact is so controversial. Women don't do well on standardized tests like the SAT or GRE on the math half of the test batteries. But they do as well or better than men on the verbal sections. There are two human symbiology's - words and numbers. Men do well on one and women on the other. But higher math is almost exclusively the domain of men.

Math is best done by only two of the five continental races also. East Asians and Caucasians - especially Ashkenazi Jews - comprise almost all of the historical great mathematicians and Field Medal winners.

The idea that there was once a a bunch of black women who were vital for the math needs of our space program is what I call BSC - (Bat Shit Crazy).

You are correct. Ballistics calculations using low level workers called computers has been around since before WW1. My former neighbor did this function as part of Patton’s army. He was also called an computer and afterwards became an Elementary school art teacher.

It's good to hear confirmation. Sometimes I remember things that I learned of long ago and which almost no one today seems to be aware of. I wonder if I'm going soft in the head. Did I make it all up?

When I heard the first inklings of the movie's plot I knew immediately what the liberals were trying to pull. I expected hundreds of sensible people who had read Feynman or knew anything of the history of Los Alamos or any other pre-electronic computer history to rise up and shout down this ploy. But most people seemed to have swallowed it. The devious had gotten away with it.

"Computers" used to mean people now in means machines.

Better that they pursue egalitarian policies than what they are really pushing, equity. Equity will deny jobs to the best qualified, and that's going to matter a lot when unqualified people of a certain color fill the ranks of our pilots and surgeons based on this stupid ideology.

Something similar happened where I live. A new public high was built in early 2000’s.

An infinite number of ways this could play out.

1). Fast, nearly-indestructable 90% autonomous humanoid robots replace manual labor, make borders impenetrable and surveillance constant and everywhere.

    2) nanotech viruses which target genes specific to afficans or chinee created.

    3). islamized europe launches nukes.

    4) Space aliens.

    5) Secession of Red States from DC tyrants.

    6) EMP attacks cripple global computer systems.

    7) Whites live in domed cities, free from orcs.

It was a nothing burger. Fast, well organized, and polite. The only problem was that at Kaiser because they had a limited supply of the vaccine restricted the recipients to those over 75. So the waiting room looked like as scene out of some Zombie apocalypse movie - all these unsightly decrepit creatures shuffling around. Me too I guess.
