The school district I work in went to the “dinner” option 2 years ago. The kids get served a meal approximately 15-30 minutes before they are dismissed. This is on top of the breakfast and lunch they are also given, all on the taxpayer’s dime.
You’d be disgusted if you saw the percentage of food that ends up tossed in the garbage, as they are REQUIRED to take everything offered but do not have to eat it if they don’t want to.
