UPPER SANDUSKY, Ohio — A man is charged with murder after he allegedly attacked a dollar store employee with a machete in northwest Ohio Sunday afternoon. Officers with the Upper Sandusky Police Department were called to the Dollar Tree at 1120 East Wyandot Avenue for a report of a man waiving a machete around inside the store.
Officers arrived at the store and found 22-year-old Keris Riebel dead at the scene. The man, who police identified as 27-year-old Bethel Bekele, left the store before police arrived. One of the officers found the suspect a short time later on South Fifth Street and arrested him. Investigators learned Bekele entered the store with the machete and struck Riebel multiple times. The weapon was found at the scene.
Police said the motive behind the fatal machete attack is unclear. Detectives are looking into whether Riebel and Bekele knew each other. 10TV spoke with the victim’s family who said they are devastated by the loss of Riebel. They say she was a newlywed and describe her as “an amazing, kind and sweet young woman who lit up the world with her smile.” Residents of the tight-knit community say they are horrified by this loss. “It’s like terrifying to see something like this in Upper Sandusky, because this is a nice community,” said resident Jason Pierce. The Chief of Police Jason Lucas said nothing like this ever happens in Upper Sandusky. The last murder was in 2001. The Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating the incident. Police said additional charges could be forthcoming once the investigation is complete.

So, he came back seeking revenge for being “disrespected” and chimped out for not getting his way. Perhaps the poor woman he murdered was the clerk who told him no. That’s motive enough for a low I.Q. African.

That had me curious to look. I think that’s actually “plain” Sandusky, which is where the Cedar Point amusement park is. We used to go out there every so often, but would actually stay at a hotel on the amusement park grounds, so we were mostly isolated from Sandusky proper. However, a couple times, out driving, we found a few seedy areas. I haven’t been there since maybe 2013, and I’m sure it’s only gotten worse.

Wow. When I was there at ISB, we never had bomb threats. Drugs were a severe problem though to the point that anyone nodding off in class was immediately subjected to urinalysis. There was a little restaurant down at the end of Soi 15 that the stoners were getting drugs from that was subsequently put off limits to all students. So, the stoners just got their drugs from the local taxi drivers. One fellow (14 years old) that I knew over-dosed at the age of 14 and died from a heroin overdose.

So, one day, since it was blistering hot, I invited that friend and his coworkers to go for a swim to cool off. A perfectly ordinary thing for someone to do but it had severe, unintended consequences. Later, the well was completed and the water from the well was taken to the local water department for testing and was subsequently determined to be contaminated and undrinkable. No big surprise really. However, that’s where the severe and unintended and completely unexpected consequences came into play.
What happened? Well, since I was a foreigner and therefore “corrupt” and was corrupting local people (inviting people to go swimming is, after all, such an atrocious and egregious act), it was declared that I was in league with evil spirits and had angered the gods as well as angering everyone’s pissed off dead relatives and that’s why the water tested as being no good. It was punishment for anyone having anything to do with a foul and disgusting “farang” or foreigner. The level of hostility toward me was intense. Next thing I know, not only am I being spat at, cursed at and called foul names by numerous people and being treated like a leper but there was a sort of exorcism performed out by the well that involved Buddhist priests, the chanting of prayers and ceremonial drummers and dancers.
Did I ask for that? No. Was I looking for that? No. And the same thing applies to simply noticing the behavior of the Christians at the school who were basically attacking non-Christians. Did the non-Christians ask for the treatment they received? No. Were they looking for it? No. Nor was my noticing what happened “looking for it.” It had nothing to do with me as an outside observer and everything to do with the people who were inflicting their bad behavior upon others. I get that you don’t like hearing it and it somehow offends you or makes you feel like it’s some kind of attack upon Christianity and you have to go into defense mode but all of that’s strictly your problem/perception and not the case at all. The only crime I’m guilty of is the crime of noticing what happened.

A group of my fellow students decided to go queer hunting at a local well known park. They were caught, thrown in jail, which is nothing like an American jail. Lucky for them, they were released, but they had to leave Thailand immediately, within 24 hours, at the parent’s expense, which was not cheap. I remember an incident when students from an International School in another country visited Thailand. The idiots climbed up on top of a large statue of Buddha and took photos where they were sitting on the shoulders of the statue. Their big mistake was having the photographs processed at a local shop. Upon seeing the photos, the shopkeeper immediately called the police, the students were arrested, tried and convicted and sent off to prison. If I recall correctly, they each received a life sentence.
In another lesser incident, an American family in the apartment building in which I lived was given a statue of Buddha by their maid. They placed it on a shelf in a room and a furor immediately erupted because they also had a crucifix on the wall and it was in a higher position than the Buddha statue. The Buddhists claimed that the family was saying that their religion was supreme and Buddha was a lesser figure of importance and worth. To end the sh*tstorm, the family had to build a shelf in the highest spot they could in the corner of the room and place the Buddha statue there. Failure to have done so would have had dire consequences.

That’s brought back a long-faded memory. There was a large house in Bangkok that I visited that, at one time, belonged to a well-known foreigner of note. Said house was full of collected antiquities.
