Diversity sunk my battleship. From victory at Midway to disaster due to multiculturalism.

How would you even try to explain this insanity to those men who defeated the Japanese in the Pacific Theater? [‘Every officer is up to speed on diversity training. Not so much ship handling’: Scathing official report finds US Navy is too woke for war because of risk averse, politically correct, control-freak top brass, Daily Mail, July 12, 2021]

  • Members of Congress commissioned the report on issues in the surface Navy
  • Came in response to fire on ship in San Diego and two ship collisions in Pacific
  • Retired Marine general and Navy admiral spoke with current and former officers
  • They identified a number of disturbing trends in Navy leadership and training
  • Many officers said that diversity training took precedence over warfighting
  • They claimed combat readiness had become a ‘box-checking’ exercise

A scathing new report commissioned by members of Congress has claimed that the Navy’s surface warfare forces have systemic training and leadership issues, including a focus on diversity that overshadows basic readiness skills.

The report prepared by Marine Lt. Gen. Robert Schmidle and Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, both retired, came in response to recent Naval disasters, including the burning of the USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego, two collisions involving Navy ships in the Pacific and the surrender of two small craft to Iran.

The authors conducted hour-long interviews with 77 current and retired Navy officers, offering them anonymity to identify issues they wouldn’t feel comfortable raising in the chain of command.

The report found that a staggering 94 percent of the subjects believed the recent Naval disasters were ‘part of a broader problem in Navy culture or leadership.’

‘I guarantee you every unit in the Navy is up to speed on their diversity training. I’m sorry that I can’t say the same of their ship handling training,’ said one recently retired senior enlisted leader.

The report focused on issues within the Navy’s surface warfare forces, as opposed to submarine and aviation, and suggested that issues in the surface fleet could be unique due to better funding and training for submarine and aviation units.

One of the key issues raised by the officers interviewed for the report was a concern that Navy leaders spend more time focusing on diversity training than on developing warfighting capacity and key operational skills.

‘Sometimes I think we care more about whether we have enough diversity officers than if we’ll survive a fight with the Chinese navy,’ lamented one lieutenant currently on active duty.

‘It’s criminal. They think my only value is as a black woman. But you cut our ship open with a missile and we’ll all bleed the same color,’ she added.

One recent destroyer captain said: ‘where someone puts their time shows what their priorities are. And we’ve got so many messages about X, Y, Z appreciation month, or sexual assault prevention, or you name it. We don’t even have close to that same level of emphasis on actual warfighting.’

‘While programs to encourage diversity, human sex trafficking prevention, suicide prevention, sexual assault prevention, and others are appropriate, they come with a cost,’ the report’s authors wrote.

ORDER IT NOW

‘The non-combat curricula consume Navy resources, clog inboxes, create administrative quagmires, and monopolize precious training time. By weighing down sailors with non-combat related training and administrative burdens, both Congress and Navy leaders risk sending them into battle less prepared and less focused than their opponents,’ the report added.

It’s worth repeating: the Generals/Admirals/Top Brass of the Chinese and Russian military are laughing right now, knowing their greatest ally against the American military is our devotion to the idea “diversity is our greatest strength.”

Its a lamentable situation but I’m not sure how much it is really going to matter in actual combat. A modern warship is a high tech sensor and weapons platform. Those sensors and weapon systems are either going to work as advertised or not. These are not sailing ships or even WW1 gun platforms where rate and accuracy of fire is determined by crew training and proficiency.

Its a bit like WW1 where some draftee with a Maxim machinegun can ( and did ) mow down the finest most highly trained infantry soldiers those armies could field.

Obviously submarine and naval aviation still require tactics and skill to avoid detection and evade enemy countermeasures but surface ships. I would need to be convinced just how crew skill can overcome sensor and weapons deficiencies.

  7. PaceLaw says:

My theory is that the reason that the top leaders of the navy are so promoting this diversity BS is because they know that we are not going to war against a conventional enemy anytime soon. Of course, most will counter with “what about China and Russia?”but does anyone actually think that aircraft carriers and battleships will be engaging the Chinese and Russians at sea, as in World War II? The odds are extremely remote. Other than bombing some terrorist camp or taking on Somali pirates, the U.S. Navy really doesn’t have to do much war fighting these days. As a result, the leaders have the convenience of engaging in ever more silly pablum such as “diversity is our strength.“ Just a thought . . .

Unless you are attacking peasants, doing police operations or performing “shows of force” where the likelihood of of live fire events is low, surface ships are death traps anways, even more than in WWI and WWII.

It’s been 35 years for me since basic training and for the life of me I can’t remember having any issues with the POC in my unit. We were all too damn tired to think about race or any other nonsense that wasn’t training related. Now that they’ve been shown top to bottom how special they are even the military is going to suffer severely as a result. If I spoke Russian, I’d give serious thought to immigrating there. As culturally shocking as it’d be I feel like it’d be an improvement over the 24/7 nigrow fatigue enveloping this nation that in 25 years will probably be a shell of it’s former self.

  16. Why would the US be worried about a fight with the Chinese navy unless they wanted to commit an act of aggression against the Chinese navy.

Sounds like we need to de-white the navy, not just diversify a little bit.

  17. eah says:

To a significant degree the US armed forces has turned into a jobs program (the pay isn’t great, but it’s better than it used to be, and you can retire with a pension and medical care after 20 years) for unfit (I don’t mean just physically) non-whites (‘minorities’) — but front line troops who train for combat are disproportionately white, even more so among officers, not only front line officers, but generally — all it would take to put a stop to things like CRT and ‘diversity’ training in the military is for enough officers to refuse to participate — word about it would get out, it would be impractical to discipline them all, and the Pentagon would back down.

There was a recent article about similar material being used to indoctrinate managers at Lockheed — the same is true there.

After statues of Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and even Lewis and Clark (!) were removed in Charlottesville VA (link), I asked:

How many of the men who helped remove the statues were white? — how many of the cops who were no doubt there to protect the operation were also white?

Compliant Whites are allowing all of this to happen — future generations of Whites will despise them for their cowardice.

I expect that a military is expected to either guard the country against internal disorder or rebellion; or guard the country against external enemies. The two functions are not very compatible, so it’s one or the other.

Spending a lot of time on diversity training is focusing the military inward. They’re fully prepared to break up crowds of protesting whites, and protect the military bureaucrats.

But a military primed and ready to fight internal enemies is not really prepared to fight external enemies. The critical skills will be the top leadership setting strategy and over-all tactics. Can anyone imagine the diversity-obsessed Secretary of Defense actually heading a war machine? The best things the Russians and Chinese can do would be to allow the US military to continue it’s path of not-so-slow deterioration over the next 15 or 20 years. They have their hooks into numerous politicians, both Democrat and GOP. The Chinese are spending billions to acquire US educational institutions and foundations. All they have to do is continue supporting the cultural Marxists and CRT advocates, and the military will take care of itself.

  19. Rahan says:
    @CDebussey

If China, or any other nation with real military’s have thoughts of attacking us I really wish they’d just get it over with.

China and Russia are former land empires, both of them interested in their immediate regions. The only way to get them to “attack the USA” is to provoke them at their borders in some way.

If I spoke Russian, I’d give serious thought to immigrating there.

Try Eastern Europe. Similar traditions and ethnic composition to Russia, yet better climate, lower crime, and in the cities people speak English.
And outside the concrete tower block suburbs, Eastern European cities can be absolutely delightful.

Militaries can tolerate a lot of nonsense in peacetime. Hell Stalin executed almost every senior officer he had in the late 1930’s but when the SHTF the diversity training/political people will be left ashore and the Navy will get down to business.

Mind you that does not mean the neglect of operational training won’t bite us in the ass. The US Navy’s great victory at Midway was not because our carrier crews could launch and retrieve planes faster than the Japanese. They couldn’t and our planes were inferior. We just found the Japanese carriers before they found us and were lucky enough to have some airborn dive bombers ( barely ) in range of them.

The ‘hero’ of the tale was Wade McCluskey who kept looking even as his squadrons fuel ran low but went after the closest carrier ( instead of the most distant one in violation of proper attack sequence).
Fortunately the Lt. in command of the second flight saw McCluskey’s error and got his planes to go after the more distant carrier so we got two in that engagement instead of just one.

that sum 90 percent of the technology in the ussr was sold by the west is totally ridicilous- you mean 90 percent of mig 21 had western parts? you mean 90 percent of the t62 was designed in the west? you mean the soyuz spacecraft was built by a lockheed boeing consortium? how about soviet nuclear subs-which western drydocks built those? did the soviets steal missile plans for their ss18 heavy ICBM from belgium?

that sum, way back in the past, was the result of a power struggle between competing teams of western intelligence analysist and competing generals, admirals, and all sorts of western hanger-ons it was a game of internal one-upmanship

sure some technology could be traced to the west-like for instance, soviet trucks had an internal combustion engine thus has yes, in a way, the west sold them the internal combustion engine, the soviets had radar so yes in a very very loose way that could be traced to the uk but also also was two way street

stealth technology originated with research published openly by soviet scientists but no one would say 90 percent of the f 117 was traced back to mother russia

dont believe everything you read-especially that 90 percent of soviet-russian technology was a copy of the west idiotic 90 percent is too close to 100 percent, a totally made up sum if that was correct than so sputnik was 100 percent designed, built and launched by the good old usa

russia has hypersonic weapons, the us doesnt yet trumps defense secretary specifically said hypersonic technology was developed by the us and stolen by russia do you believe that? if so, you would believe that 90 percent of russian technology was a copy of the west

look the mig 25 and the F15 look alike so obviously the mig 25 is a copy of the F15 but the mig was developed in the fifties and the eagle in the seventies

the concorde and the tupolev 144 looked alike but obviously the concorde was the copy since it flew in 1969 and the tupoolev was the original design since it flew in 1968

that the F15 and concorde were copies of russian technology is ridicilous-similar technological problems led to similar solutions but here the russians had priority so they couldnt be accused of copying the west but the west, in those cases, could

why doesnt the west admit that 100 percent of western space technology is a copy of the soviet-the soviets were first in space after all well no, obviously, the west developed its own space technology but then so did the soviets in their own overall tech

90 percent 90 fucking percent-a totally unreasonable sum stemming from a power struggle in the seventies cia dont believe everything you read, especially data that has an agenda behind it

all airbus and boeing planes look alike thus are they copies or just similar technological solutions, trams, trucks, cars all look alike now-which company copies whom?

its like saying today 80 percent of chinese technology can be traced to the west true enough if, and that is a big if, you are very, very creative what is specifically western in current 21st technology

I digress from Mr.Kersey’s interesting blog but… what you said is not always the case in naval warfare.

In 1945, e.g. Japan had a few submarines and one giant battleship left. The Yamato. It had the biggest guns of any warship ever but not enough fuel to cruise the Pacific Ocean. The Japanese sent it on a suicide mission. Go to Okinawa, beach itself ( you can’t sink it) and turn its massive 18 inch guns on the American invasion fleet and fire on the US invasion fleet and the soldiers ashore.

On its way it was discovered and the USN offered the opportunity to our battleships to sink it but the offer was declined. Let Naval aviators do the job. No point in losing an Iowa class battleship to a bigger Japanese battleship in a glorious slugfest. So the torpedo planes and divebombers were sent in and Yamato went down.

Now, a thought experiment. Imagine, if in May 1941 the German battleship. Bismarck, had after it had just destroyed the largest Royal Navy battleship, HMS Hood, turned toward New York and sailed at night up the mouth of the Hudson River. Manhattan’s skyline was still lit up and Bismarck had fired all of its heavy guns at those towers. 500 plus one ton shells creating a mega 9/11. The captain could have disembarked most of the crew and surrendered by dawn and left the US Navy to sink an abandoned ship. After that how eager would the US have been to get into a war with Germany and Germany would not have lost anything it wasn’t going to lose anyway.

    Pirate,

All you say about the Navy is true, to a greater or lesser extent, of all branches of the military. This is another parallel to the Roman Empire, as we get politicized leadership in the military.
Naval politics and race hustling was obvious to me (from talking to sailors) back as early as ’72 when I left the Army (we were also having similar problems). My old CO lived in fear he would get gigged on rating points because of ‘race relations.’ He was an excellent combat leader with a cadre of tough NCOs. He was put out of the service anyway, and most of those NCOs left too, except for out Top Sergeant (tough Korean vet) who stayed to get retirement in a few years. God bless those guys as they saved my life more than once. The navy back then was just further along in the downward skid.

The saddest part is that good people in all branches will leave or not enlist as the politics becomes more evident. And yes, the ability to fight will then completely deteriorate. If you give me a platoon to train, I could easily overrun a company of blatant, in-your-face, militant transsexuals, women, or blacks. Intelligence, dedication, and adaptability (an adjunct to intelligence) count in combat.

I remember seeing a piece on white South Africans a few years ago. They were forming militias and practicing bug-out drills and even hostage rescue operations. They were well-armed with firearms and body armor. The idea was to form a caravan of 4-10 vehicles and train to rapidly evacuate their families and fellow militia members to pre-designated rural areas outside the cities. The foreign journalists were poking fun at them and asking if these white South Africans were just being paranoid and racist. They implied that they were wasting their time and money on such activities. They sure as hell aren’t laughing anymore and I’m sure we could learn a thing or two from these Boers.

Oh, the boogie man is very real, and it’s much worse than that.

I have on several occasions recommended the book, “The Controversy of Zion” by Douglas Reed. Probably none of you has read it. You should. It’s available for free download from archive.org. Here’s a short extract:

In May 1942 a Captain George Racey Jordan reported for duty at the great Newark Airport in New Jersey. He was a First War soldier rejoined and had never forgotten the advice of a sergeant given to him in Texas in 1917: “Keep your eyes and ears open, keep your big mouth shut, and keep a copy of everything”. To the last five words posterity owes the most astonishing book (in my opinion) of the Second World War.

Captain Jordan was instructed to report to “United Nations Depot No. 8”, as he found Newark Airport to be described on his orders. The body known as the “United Nations” was set up three years later, and this was an anticipation, revealing the intention of the men around the president …

Captain Jordan then began to keep a very full diary, and by means of it was later able to show (when he and the rest of the world learned about “atomic bombs”) that during 1942 about fifteen million dollars’ worth of graphite, aluminium tubes, cadmium metal and thorium (all materials necessary for the creation of an atomic pile) were sent to the Soviet Government from Newark. At this time the “Manhattan Project” (the production of the first atom bomb) was supposed to be of such intense secrecy that its chief, Major General Leslie R. Groves, later testified that his office would have refused, without his personal approval, to supply any document even to President Roosevelt. In 1942, when he made these entries in his diary, Captain Jordan had no idea of the use to which these materials might be put, for he had never heard of the “Manhattan Project” or of “the atom bomb”.

And it goes on. They didn’t sell US technology to Russia – they gave it to them. Hell, they gave them the plates to print as much US currency as they might need to buy anything they wanted, from anywhere.

The book he references is called “From Major Jordan’s Diaries”, and it is also available in PDF format from several online sources.

Have things/Riots Calmed Down or Stopped?, I cant find anything on the TV or Internet?, My Guess is the Police/Military have things under control, Or maybe they are having problems getting information from South Africa? Or are their other factors I am not considering on why this story has mostly disappeared from Media?

Thank You in advance, I am very curious as to why this is not a big story?

This is why I don’t like to eat out. If I was a cop I’d never eat at any restaurant that employs blacks. Central Americans, either. I’d go to a supermarket and get something packaged.

As to the bigger question – white boycott of the military. Don’t fight in useless wars for an entity (I won’t say country) that hates your guts and holds as its highest moral goal the subjugation and ultimately the extermination of your people.

If I remember correctly, one submarine was rendered useless, by having the batteries connected wrong. Another was damaged by hitting the sea floor when it was meant to go up. The SA navy, air force and army are all jokes now. Son of a provincial cabinet minister was part of an elite flying team. He clipped the wings of another plane – both pilots died. The joys of affirmative action. The recent riots were not quelled quickly, because the secret service funds were looted, so intelligence lacking. Police had to be reprovisioned with ammo from private sources!

Predictably DWLs and celebrities are quiet and want the riots, gang rapes and tribal unrest to just go away. How hard would it be to pick a black or Indian-South African family who was slaughtered or a black family business that was destroyed and donate some money or write a damn song about the riots and condemning Jacob Zuma? Too uncomfortable to admit that what the Boers predicted has come to pass I guess. Damn hypocrites…

I have met and conversed with several South Africans in my life (we have a few South African-American blacks and whites on the CPD). They are all pleasant people (make some great BBQ) and all of them seem to admire and respect the American 2nd Amendment. (Compare that to Western Europeans who delight in pointing out American “gun violence”). Almost universally South Africans (black, white and Asian) despise American blacks and question why Black politicians and BLM activists aren’t willing to help or send money to SA now when they could use it the most.

jeeeezus no it wasnt wtf are you saying 90 percent do you even know what 90 percent means? its quite a lot it would mean a t55 tank was designed in the west from which model who knows but those ninety percenters have a hard time with rithmetic and figerin anyways-oooh but they sure do rite good bout dem stealin russkies

some cia nitwit and his gay lovers said way back that 90 percent of soviet tech was sold by the west and got a higher grade in the cia-good for him but unfortunately quite an idiotic analysis

do you actually believe it? well you are wrong but even so you just might have a great future doing nothing for a high rate of pay at any western think tank so dont sweat being wrong thats the ticket of getting higher and higher make sure to kiss ass by making up absurd figures-noone will ever ask you how you derived them

can you even cite examples of soviet tech obviously not

go on the internet do an image search soviet war technology and see for yourself that the 90 percent figure is bogus invented by people that have a english major instead of an engineering degree

those people take a look at a russian plane see that it has engines, they know western planes have engines and thus they say the rus stuff was borrowed

really take a look old and even new russian stuff looks a lot different its not obviously copied from the west and no saying for instance the mig 29 is obviously a lash up of the f18 and f15 dont count technology dont work that way

oh great you are citing a captain jordan and what he wrote in some kind of diary has anyone heard of captain jordan before a book by a nutcase was written? no dont get me wrong, the soviets did infiltrate the manhattan project and had technological spies and the rosenbergs were guilty as hell but keep it in context everyone spies and everyone sends out false info-its possible that some of the info the soviets received was salted to slow down their abomb project

certainly andrei sakharov suspected so and he wasnt a fool he even had several discusions with beria over that issue beria wouldnt countenance the that the nkvd was being led by the nose by the fbi but sakharov thought some of the info was absolutely incompetent and defying physics sakharov was a very brave man-think of it actually disagreeing with beria

everyone spies and everyone sends out false info-im sure the us has tech spies in russian industry even now just like the russians have in our industry

mind you, never underestimate the people who you chosen as an enemy when you think that 90 percent of russian stuff is a copy you are not only delusional but commiting a fundamental military sin

but underestimating the enemy is a rich us tradition no wonder we havent been able to win a single war
