A Black man whose videos I watch sometimes on Youtube (Ak Nation) said that there’s a “program” for almost every single person in Blackistan (what he calls it). In the early 2000s, I lived for a brief time in the middle of the downtown Cincinnati black ghetto (near the Philharmonic) and it was scary dangerous. A doctor rushed over to help her, but no one else batted an eyelash; they just went about their business as if this was an everyday occurrence.

The couple, after building two successful businesses, are thinking about moving from New Orleans because of the crime. The host commented that New Orleans does not want to lose people like this because this is their tax base. These types of people actually pay taxes (they don’t get refunds), pay for the Midnight Basketball, the mentoring programs, etc. But he blames the pasty White liberals too because they’re out there demanding no bail, no jail time, blah, blah, blah, and then when it doesn’t work out, they want to move. One other effect of segregation was that those blacks (the talented tenth?) who were among the better educated, more prosperous and law abiding were forced to live in black communities. I was at the Symphony Hotel around the corner from the Hall, which was across the street from that forlorn park. I was friends with the couple that owned the Hotel and were attempting to develop that bar/restaurant strip several blocks over by adding hip apartments for yuppies by renovating the old buildings. There were also some warehouse to upscale condos/apartments projects in that area that showed promise.

I don’t know what became of those attempts but it always seemed like a very tenuous area fraught with danger to the say for instance drinker on his way home from one of the clubs/bars,, not 3 blocks from the sprawling ghetto.

My car was indeed vandalized a few times down there and I had the place locked up tight every night. The hotel had hardly any guests though it featured a pretty nice working dinner restaurant. It was obviously meant to be a “cute” bed and breakfast one day in some golden future.

It never felt right though, and the side by side of all I have just described to you with the ugliness of the rest of the neighborhood was always uncomfortable leaving one wary.

One Korean girl I know who was adopted by a very nice White family was the high school slut, became a stripper and was heavily into drug use. An adopted male Korean I know also had a serious alcohol problem, was a very smart young man but spent 6 years in college and has never used his degree.
