So you’re saying diversity isn’t a strength? [Big Tech Layoffs Are Hitting Diversity and Inclusion Jobs Hard: Companies that made promises to hire more underrepresented groups are gutting departments meant to achieve those goals., Bloomberg, January 24, 2023]:

At Twitter, the diversity, equity and inclusion team is down to just two people from 30, one former employee said. A DEI worker who was let go from a popular ride-share company said their job search has stalled as other technology companies assess their finances. And just before getting the axe at separate tech giants this fall, two DEI specialists said leadership had stopped setting long-term goals for their departments entirely.

The layoffs sweeping the technology industry are gutting diversity and inclusion departments, threatening company pledges to boost underrepresented groups in their ranks and leadership.

Listings for DEI roles were down 19% last year — a bigger decline than legal or general human resources jobs saw, according to findings from Textio, which helps companies create unbiased job ads. Only software engineering and data science jobs saw larger declines, at 24% and 27%, respectively.

Bloomberg News identified DEI professionals who lost their jobs in recent weeks at Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., Twitter Inc. and Redfin Corp. Many said they expect their responsibilities will go to former colleagues who remain or to employee resource groups, which often don’t get compensated for that work.

A spokesperson for Amazon said the company’s DEI priorities haven’t changed and the company remains committed to its goals. A Redfin spokesperson said the company has invested in growing its DEI team since 2021, and despite a recent layoff the group is larger than it was at the start of 2022. A representative for Meta declined to comment.

“I’m cautiously concerned — not that these roles will go to zero but that there will be a spike in ‘Swiss army knife’ type roles,” meaning more DEI professionals will be spread thin as they take on additional job functions, said Textio Chief Executive Officer Kieran Snyder. The phenomenon isn’t likely limited to tech, either, as layoffs hit other parts of the economy. Last year, companies announced plans to cut over 363,000 jobs, up 13% from 2021.

Recent years have seen a diversity and inclusion hiring boom. After Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, organizations of all stripes made promises to boost gender and racial diversity in their ranks. Dozens brought in their first ever Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officers. In the three months after George Floyd’s murder, DEI job postings jumped 123%, according to data from jobs site Indeed.

Now, just as tech companies had started to make progress, they’re scaling back those teams before fully meeting goals or creating workforces that look like the broader US population. Meta Chief Diversity Officer Maxine Williams warned last summer that cost cutting would slow its diversity hiring efforts.

“Cutting DEI oriented staff now, unless you’ve made really progress and can say ‘mission accomplished’ is not a good look,” said Angie Kamath, dean at the NYU School of Professional Studies, who focuses on workforce development. “There are some real risks.”

In some cases, companies might even backslide, said Monne Williams, an Atlanta-based partner at McKinsey & Company.

So it turns out diversity, equity and inclusion isn’t truly important to Silicon Valley companies. Is diversity a strength?

Absolutely not.

I’d point out that the United States became the leading global industrial power in the late 19th to early 20th century, the same era when segregation was the de facto if not de jure law of the land. You give White people free run of a continent, you build a great country.

Consider that since the civil rights revolution of the mid-20th century the US has seen a precipitous decline in its industrial base, not to mention the destruction of numerous formerly industrial cities (Detroitification). If nothing else, the massive numbers of affirmative action hires have degraded efficiency in every business it overwhelms. You also have to look at the huge amount of academic resources which are dumped down rat holes like grievance “studies” programs, and the self-deception to keep up the Potemkin facade.

The country which once built the Transcontinental Railroad and Hoover Dam can not even get a rail line from Los Angeles to Fresno nor keep the water running in Jackson, MS.

You remove White people from the equation, it all reverts to the wilderness.

The whole DEI schtick is unimportant beyond its value as large corporate virtue signalling.

Diversity is apparently the desire to have the same proportions in one’s employees as appears to exist in broader society. It has never been successfully explained WHY this is considered a good thing, particularly when you consider how self-destructive the wider society has recently become, spiralling out of control in the last 60 or so years.

Diversity is not even on the table for consideration when a privately owned and operated employer assesses the best candidate for the position offered, Only large corporations (you know, the kind with public shareholders) have the ability to hire a candidate who is not the best, just for the sake of virtue signalling.

Equity. Put simply, this is equality of outcomes – not equality of talent. It refuses to countenance merit, hard work or innovation. It is the vapid, immoral heart of socialism.

Inclusion is a feel-good extension of the “every child wins a prize!” mindset. Removal of goals, incentives, and the innate need to strive harder.

There is no wonder that DEI is the first to go when things start to get tough…

You mean DEI people might have to stop discriminating against whites and do actual work doing “additional job functions”.

All DEI jobs are non-productive and increase company overhead rates which makes their products and services more expensive. A racially diverse work force in no way leads to greater efficiency and production because of the supposedly unique perspectives each group brings to a company.

This is yet another of the many contradictions in multiracial propaganda. We’re all the same but each group has “unique perspectives”. We’re all the same but we must celebrate our differences. America is awash in (((Soviet))) sloganeering.

DEI/DIE jobs add absolutely no value to the bottom line at any company. All it does is add unnecessary labor costs so companies can virtue signal and boost their non-white employment percentages somewhat. The people that work in DIE jobs typically can’t do regular work because they lack the work ethic and/or intelligence that real jobs might require. The presence of DIE people also angers and demoralizes many white employees and some purposely become less productive.

The same clownish CEOs who extoll the virtues of racial diversity and DIE are themselves surrounded by white staff and underlings, live in gated almost all white neighborhoods and send their kids to racially exclusive private schools. Not to mention the additional cost of woke diversity departments for “African Studies”, “Women’s Studies” snd other whatever “Studies departments” , and more BIPOC diversity staff in administration and teaching in general.

The US federal government is even worse, as are state, county, and local governments. I was reading a story about HUD, and the head people puctured were all negroes Affirmatively Advancing Fair Housing (more diversity in white areas ala Obama-Holder.) In fact most of the Federal government is BIPOC and Jewish. Much of government at the state, county, and especially city levels is now black. And there are more black officials and politicians than ever.

Nevermind the fact that someone else domesticated the chicken thousands of years ago, and it was imported into Africa. I’m sure someone else came up with the concept of a deep-fryer. I doubt they invented the waffle, either.

Yet, I’ve actually heard the argument go around that if wypipo eat chicken & waffles, that’s cultural appropriation! Just like every other thing they get credit for “inventing”, it’s inevitably some other culture, or combination of cultures, that did all the heavy work. There is one thing about this piece, however, that I find depressing: the quoted material from Bloomberg BusinessWeek. The author, Kelsey Butler, seems greatly disappointed over employees from “underrepresented” groups being let go — as if they should have been hired in the first place! Michael Bloomberg is a disgrace to the business world for turning his magazine so far leftward. TOWSON, Md. — Detectives in Baltimore County are investigating after multiple people were robbed and then sexually assaulted.

It happened Thursday evening near the corner of Joppa Road and Allegheny Avenue.
Students, business owners and people like Damitra Bell who frequent this community are speaking out about this attack.

Bell is a business owner in the area. She, like many others, are hoping police get to the bottom of it so that it doesn’t happen again.

“It’s actually just very shocking because this is actually really secure area. It really just makes you want to be more attentive and it’s really scary,” Bell said.

This was the response from many people in the Towson Circle area after hearing several people had been robbed and then sexually assaulted.

“Never had any issues, never. It’s very peaceful, so yeah it’s shocking,” Bell said.

Bell said she had just left her establishment Thursday night around 10:00 p.m. An hour later police said several people were robbed and then sexually assaulted near the Towson Circle.

Towson University sent out a message to their students informing them of what happened. The advisory stated an unknown armed man robbed three people behind Towson Hot Bagels, before sexually assaulting them.

The advisory mentioned after the attack the man ran away from the area.

Bell like many others are hoping this doesn’t happen again.

“I hope this doesn’t deter residents and visitors and patrons to come to the Towson area because I think by in large Towson is still very safe, it’s a very quiet environment. I mean it definitely makes you wanna just keep an eye out for anything that looks strange or peculiar,” Bell said.

    Detectives are still investigating.

If you have any information concerning this attack, you’re urged to contact Baltimore County Police at 410-887-2361.

You would think dark mysterious forces are pushing it how far the white race will take punishment. As if they actually pushing for civil war. De Santis made a shrewd political move by appointing a Nigerian as his top medical officer who opposes the Covid mandates and masking. The blacks who were brought to America were the African slave underclass. You see with Floyd, the bulbous lips and Negroid features characteristic of low class blacks. The smart blacks, (browns actually) in America got their good genes from their white slavers. Their features are mostly Caucasian. Prior to his death, Floyd belonged to the criminal underclass in America. He was what parents warned their children to avoid. His death if he had been non black, would have passed unnoticed by the media, and Chauvin would have kept his job. He would still have his delightful Laotian wife. Now he sits in a pen, probably with a mask.

Almost all of these people are midwit women with otherwise useless liberal arts degrees.

In the West, the greatest plagues of the modern era have been feminism and the rise of junk academia.

Feminism actively pushes women away from their traditional roles as wives and mothers, leading to a dramatic fall in birth rates to well below replacement level in nearly every white nation.

At the same time, the rise of junk academia provided a destination for these women, a large majority of whom are both intellectually and temperamentally unsuited for more challenging academic work that leads to genuine wealth creation, like hard science and engineering — then they take their liberal arts degrees and flood into education (teaching, administration), the media, corporate bureaucracies, politics, law, etc — the consequences have been disastrous.

To make the situation even worse, women now significantly outnumber men in college — since women normally marry ‘up’, i.e. a woman typically chooses a man who is more intelligent than her, and has higher SES than she does, this means marriage and birth rates will fall further as these college-educated women fail to find suitable partners.

I agree about feminism. The feminists forget that men prefer traditional women for marriage. They want a wife who keeps track of family birthdays, enjoys cooking, acts feminine (no fighting at Walmart?), takes the children to church, and reminds them of traditional wives and mothers.

Note the singular article [“a] the singular subject noun [worker], the singular verb [was], the singular noun in the subordinate clause [search], the clauses’s singular verb form [has], but the plural pronoun [they]. The sentence is constructed by someone who presumably uses the title of “professional journalist” yet is entirely illiterate.

…men prefer traditional women for marriage.

I’ve worked with women over the course of decades, and am well aware of the change (often for the worse) between the ‘60’s and present day.

Back then women were “ladies” and that wasn’t considered a derogatory or sexist label.
They were tough women, worthy of respect, yet tender and nurturing at appropriate times.
One woman I worked with had her husband die at the wheel as they drove down the street during winter. She grabbed the steering wheel and guided the car with two children in the back seat, safely to a stop.

Widowed, she carried on raising her children while having to work at the same time after the death.

She and other women had that aura of femininity but at the same time commanded respect. They didn’t resent being called Mrs., using their husband’s surname, or having doors opened for them.

    Quite a contrast today.

Feminism actively pushes women away from their traditional roles as wives and mothers…

Not sure if you’re old enough to remember the 60’s, but to me that was the decade in which the radical change from the traditional and family oriented in the early 60’s, to the beginnings of the militant political activism in the latter part of the decade, occurred with women.

The women I worked with were largely traditional, but the inter mixture and contrast of the early libbers was becoming quite evident.

A lot of factors, but certainly “the pill” was one facilitating influence.

That points to an even more irritating aspect of all this. The beneficiaries are rarely actual black blacks, but more usually, mulattoes and quadroons who tend to come from privileged backgrounds to begin with. It’s Cory Booker who gets to be a Senator, not George Floyd.

  78. eah says:

    >women normally marry ‘up’

linkWomen are more likely to get divorced after being promoted. Divorce rates jump by 50 percent when the wife earns more than the husband.

When the traditional marriage dynamic is reversed, divorce happens FAR more often — feminism disrupts the most basic foundation of society — and without the existence of junk academia, this would not be happening to such an extent — these midwit women ought to be marrying and raising children, instead of working as soulless corporate diversity apparatchiks.

I knew a woman, close friend of my wife, who got divorced, and told everybody that she did it because she now earned more than her husband, and didn’t need him any more.

Years later, I learned via her daughter and my daughter, the true reason: her husband sacked her because he was tired of having to sell his house to pay off her debts. I never had to sell my house, but I could relate.

  85. Maybe twitter has started the ball rolling, and the tech companies are becoming red-pilled.

DEI is not just a drag on a company, it is actively counter-productive. Similar to public education, where they are not only failing to educate, but actively mis-educating by trying to indoctrinate children with falsehoods. The cumulative effect is disastrous.

  86. eah says:

I’m sure the situation below is very typical, and not just because women with junk academic degrees likely dominate corporate HR — the natural empathy of women means, among other things, they tend to want to see both sides, and their natural deference means they lean toward the safety inherent in the current consensus — this is why women are generally more likely to observe the secular moral canon as defined by the media, including supporting the Latest Thing™.

  87. eah says:
    @Bite Moi

    >How can you tell whether a female is a midwit or not?

It’s a fair question — if you look at the IQ curves of men vs women, above an IQ of 135 or so, men outnumber women about 7:1, and this lopsided ratio increases with higher IQ — Larry Summers, at the time president of Harvard, got into trouble for saying this was a big reason there are so few women on the engineering and hard science faculties at elite universities (link), where you will normally find only the most intelligent high-achievers — women also appear to be temperamentally unsuited to such analytical work: it just does not appeal to them.

Similarly, men generally outnumber women at lower IQ values associated with well above average intelligence, albeit the ratio is smaller — so stated simply, as measured by IQ, there are simply more smart men than smart women.

To be fair, there are also more dumb men than dumb women — on an IQ curve, women bunch in the middle, whereas there are more distinct tails for men, at both the high and low end of the IQ curve.

So I think the vast majority of women who get liberal arts degrees can not unfairly be labeled midwits.

  90. AnalogMan says:

My impression is that the term “midwit” was coined by Vox Day, who claims an astronomically high IQ (which he never divulges). He applies it to people with IQ in the region of 130 – about halfway between “average” and his own superior intellect.

I’ve seen no evidence to support it. I followed his blog for a while. He does have a monstrous ego. And a garage band, and he plays soccer, and writes fairy stories and comic books. Which he writes about endlessly. A real pillar of Civilisation.

  91. “It’s a fair question — if you look at the IQ curves of men vs women, above an IQ of 135 or so, men outnumber women about 7:1, and this lopsided ratio increases with higher IQ”

This IQ curve difference is observed far more easily on the left side of the bell curve, where it is far more difficult to deny… So no leftist will touch it!

  92. eah says:

    >women normally marry ‘up’

linkSingle college-educated women are far more likely to report that having trouble finding someone who “meets their expectations” is a major reason why they’re single.

As already suggested, because women currently significantly outnumber men in college, and this imbalance will likely worsen, one aspect of the demographic disaster enveloping white countries is about to get even worse: large numbers of college-educated white women will fail to find a suitable partner — as a result, both marriage and birth rates will fall further.

I finally spoke up and told her that men were like fish in the sea. ” Lots of us ocean perch, mullet, croaker, etc. Very few big tuna, sword fish,or marlin. Frankly,YOU don’t have the right bait to bag a trophy Chad. ” Damn,i just hate it when women spray spit while they scream.
