I admit to being skeptical of Elon Musk as a free speech hero. He has moved from one US government-subsidized business to another on his path to becoming the world’s richest person. But there is no denying that his release of the “Twitter Papers” this past weekend, which blew the lid off government manipulation of social media, has been a huge victory for those of us who value the First Amendment.

The release, in coordination with truly independent journalist Matt Taibbi, demonstrated indisputably how politicians and representatives of “official Washington” pressed the teams that were then in charge of censorship at Twitter to remove Tweets and even ban accounts that were guilty of nothing beyond posting something the power-brokers did not want the general public to read. Let’s not forget that many of those demanding Twitter censorship were US government officials who had taken an oath to the US Constitution and its First Amendment.

It is important to understand that both US political parties were involved in pushing Twitter to censor information they didn’t like. There is plenty of corruption to go around. However, as the Twitter Papers demonstrated, vastly more Tweets were censored at the demand of Democratic Party politicians simply because Twitter employees on the censorship team were overwhelmingly Democratic Party supporters.

Perhaps the most damning piece of evidence released in this first installment of the Twitter Papers was a series of Tweets from the Biden 2020 campaign to its contact inside Twitter asking that the social media censor them. An internal Twitter document shows that the censor team “handled these,” meaning censored them.

Elon Musk himself openly stated before the release that, prior to his taking control of the company and engaging in mass firing, Twitter had been manipulating elections. So all those years we heard lies from the Washington elites that Russia was interfering in our elections when after all it was Twitter. Of course that raises the question about other large social media companies like Facebook. Will Mark Zuckerberg come clean about his own company’s election interference? Will anyone have the courage to demand that he do so?

How did they get away with all of this? As another truly independent journalist, Glenn Greenwald, pointed out on the Tucker Carlson show the night the “Twitter Papers” were released, while it was once controversial for the CIA to attempt to manipulate what Americans consume in the mainstream media, nowadays these outlets openly hire “former” US intelligence leaders and officers as news analysts. CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and the rest of them all bring on “former” members of the intelligence services to tell Americans what to think. “Big tech censorship is a critical tool of the national security state,” Greenwald told Tucker. “Whenever anyone tries to do anything about it these former people from the CIA and the Pentagon and the rest jump up and say ‘we cannot allow you to restore free speech.’”

This is a corruption scandal so massive that it is almost guaranteed to never be properly investigated. Government itself is among the most guilty and we know “government commissions” are really about covering up rather than uncovering the crimes committed. But the truth is powerful. Some 58 years after the Warren Report whitewashed the assassination of President Kennedy, polls show that few Americans believe the “official” narrative.

Truth is powerful and we must always seek it. No amount of lies can withstand the disinfectant of truth. Thanks to Elon Musk for his courage and we encourage him to continue.

Musk is a businessman, so he has to balance his political views with company interests.
He cannot be expected to sacrifice his entire fortune to restore liberty in this country.

Musk is not yet a Free Speech hero; I suspect he never will be, but what he does is also good. By leaking just one set of files to Matt Taibi, he has effectively frightened everyone into lifting the advertisement ban! Apple has returned, slowly everyone will come back. I wonder what tweets were suppressed at Apple’s request…

He has not released anything about the Russian interference hoax, nor the biggest of them all – 2020 elections. But I am sure he would keep them on a Dead man’s switch.

But wouldn’t improving Twitter’s reputation as a forum for free speech attract more users, enhancing the profitability of his investment? Many of us forego Big Tech because we long ago perceived it as a tilted playing field.

You can be sure that none of the people in power in Washington are going to be happy with freedom of speech. They achieved power by controlling the narrative in their favor, either with distorted advertisements aimed at the brain dead and the drunk or by sending the proper quota of advertising dollars to the media in charge of the narrative.

A free and open forum that allows opinions and evidence contrary to the big government hoax is the worst thing for everybody interested in maintaining power. All the influence they sold to get the money to bend the themes is wasted corruption.

excellent point, i strongly suspect that musk had a long talk with jack dorsey after he was forced out, of his own company. jack was treated very favorably by taibi, who painted him as out of the loop on the hunter biden lap top story censorship. jack most likely told elon what twitter was doing and where the bodies were buried. this would explain elons absurd $45 billion offer, that the board wanted to reject but had to accept due to fiduciary responsibilities. now elon holds the keys to all the skeleton closets, that he can reveal or not depending solely on his agenda.

Sadly, the disinfectant has had a poor record in the US. Maybe it will have better success this time. I have posted several tines around Unz my view that Americans tend to embrace “the con style.” Elon certainly has… okay okay I won’t call it the con style….I will say he has a hefty dose of uninhibited rascal…and maybe that suffices to break through.

Statesman Ron Paul is famous for being kind and gentle.

Paul has been criticized by some on this forum, for not being sufficiently Militant, (or truculent).

But often it is not the bullish purveyor of braggadocio, but the Learned Statesman, who has worked with politicians from all political persuasions, and who rarely uses profanity, and does not disrespect his strongest opponents, who has the Knockout Punch.

In Paul‘s essay, The ‘Twitter Papers’ Reveal the Totalitarians Among Us, Paul is Breathing FIRE!

    The BOMB is here:

Government itself is among the most guilty and we know “government commissions” are really about covering up rather than uncovering the crimes committed. But the truth is powerful. Some 58 years after the Warren Report whitewashed the assassination of President Kennedy, polls show that few Americans believe the “official” narrative.

What other 8 term elected Congressman, or any Congressman, has, or had the cojones to write that?

    But the truth is powerful.

This is the core of Statesman Ron Paul‘s code of honor. This is why we respect him, (not because we feel the need to insist that we agree with Paul 100%). That is not necessary. His Code of Honor is.

A partial list of the Crimes of the Oligarchs:

This: The coverup of the Coup D’état of November 22, 1963, and the Assassination of our Last Constitutional President, John F. Now the only game for those in power is diplomacy – saying nice things about Musk until they find a way to chase him out of Twitter.

  13. None of all this Planet-wasting “civilization” disease psy-op stuff is happening anywhere except as shadows on the walls of Plato’s cave. The cave’s captive-audience denizens, though, whose clinically-crazy behavior is totally ‘based’ in those seductive flickering images, can and do inflict very real and grievous harm on one another as a natural and inevitable consequence of it.

Having been rendered (by the relentless operations of the institutionalized insanity apparatus) pitifully terrified of The Light, these “self”-afflicted inmates of the illusory global gulag are systematically degraded into fighting about whose “god” (always fashioned according to each of their own “self”-distorted conceits) is really running the projector. They are continually induced to slap-happily slaughtering each other over which version ought therefore to be shown and accepted as “required viewing.”

The Good News is: The ‘atmosphere’ in the cave is now become irremediably lethal, and the walls are closing-in. This is exactly what takes place in the natural birthing process. The intra-uterine environment turns toxic, and the big squeeze begins. Get born….dead or alive.

Like it or lump it, our domesticated sisters and brothers are about to be evicted from their always-doomed-to-be-short-term-anyhow fake ‘universe’, with its cold comforts and crippling conveniences. They’ve been cruelly and cleverly tricked (by the disease spreaders) into thinking all this MADness could be somehow made to go on ‘forever.’ Us surviving Free Wild Peoples of all Kinda have always known better.

Thus the even better news is: There really ain’t no “bad news.” The residual effects of Eve’s apple have pretty much worn off. We will all soon be free of the make-believe shackles that went with that vain and foolish attempt to “….become as gods, knowing good and evil.”

It’s all coming out in The Wash….through The Water of Life Herownself and into The Light of Love Hisownself. So fear not. We have only to take care of Earth and All Our Relations and each other….just “Doin’ what comes naturally!” to our Kind….and don’t let the fear-filled fear porn-peddling fear mongers tell you otherwise.

I think DCThrowback answered your questions.
Old Brown Fool alludes to it also.
Musk cannot be expected to be a crusader for liberty. Putting all the collectivists on the hot seat and subject them to the flames of invective has risk for him. He could end up being the guest of honor at the next witch hunt.
Making Twitter a forum for free speech would be attractive to many here on this blog, but there are many who think free speech means being allowed to say only what they agree with.

Dr. Rand Paul Demands Senate Vote on Ending Military COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

It is outrageous that the U.S. Military is firing service members who chose not to submit to a COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

This past week, I led the charge, with over 18 other senators by my side, in sending a letter to Senate Republican leadership demanding an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to stop the Biden administration from firing our men and women in uniform who refuse vaccination. The amendment will also reinstate service members already discharged, with back pay.

    Image
The Biden vaccine mandate has ruined the livelihoods of men and women who have honorably served our country. Close to 3,400 troops have been discharged from the military for refusing to be vaccinated against COVID.

The United States simply cannot afford to discharge our service members because of an inept bureaucratic policy.

You can read more about my efforts HERE, and watch the press conference I hosted last Wednesday with some of the 18 senators HERE.

    Kentucky Disaster Assistance

This weekend marks one year since horrific tornadoes and storms struck western Kentucky. While debris has mostly been cleared and rebuilding has been ongoing, the impact on our commonwealth will forever be remembered.

We are forever grateful for first responders who were on the ground in the early hours, helping with search and rescue, and who continue to serve our communities throughout recovery efforts. We are also grateful for the linesmen who immediately responded to the destruction and worked collectively to restore electricity to countless homes. We are thankful for the churches, schools, neighbors, and nearby communities and surrounding states who opened shelters, their homes, donated food, clothing, and other goods to help our commonwealth.

Nearly one year later, the road to rebuilding continues but I’m continually reminded that during these times of adversity the unbridled spirit of our commonwealth shines its brightest.

As disaster recovery and rebuilding efforts remain ongoing in both western and eastern Kentucky, I remain committed to doing all that I can to assist local and state officials as they continue to manage the recovery effort, and my office is standing by to help those who are in need of help with denied FEMA claims, applying for Small Business Administration loans, and replacing lost or damaged documents such as Social Security cards, VA records, military medals and records, and tax paperwork.

If you are in need of assistance, you can reach my Bowling Green office at (270) 782-8303, and one of my staff members will be happy to help.

Dr. Rand Paul Honors Slainte Public House of Georgetown as Senate Small Business of the Week

As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, each week I recognize an outstanding Kentucky small business that exemplifies the American entrepreneurial spirit. Recently, I had the privilege to recognize Slainte Public House of Georgetown, Kentucky as the Senate Small Business of the Week.

The dream behind Slainte Public House was born thousands of miles away from its’ home in the Blue Grass State, dating back to 2015 when owners Matt and Ashley Nunn traveled to Ireland in celebration of their tenth wedding anniversary. Upon their arrival in the Old Country, the Nunns witnessed how pubs across Ireland offered a space where communities could gather. The couple was struck by how these businesses were so entrenched in their communities, serving a purpose far greater than the stated goals of a typical American bar. Thus, upon their return to their home state, the Nunns decided to try their hand at emulating the communal attraction of the Irish pubs they enjoyed and, in the spring of 2016, opened Slainte Public House.

Today, six years after opening, you can ask any Georgetown local and they will tell you that the Nunns have succeeded in their goal. However, the story of its’ Irish inspiration is not the only notable fact about Slainte Public House’s creation. In opening Slainte Public House, Matt and Ashley Nunn opened the first licensed bar to operate in Scott County since the days of Prohibition, when the purchase and consumption of alcohol was outlawed. Therefor the Pub’s six years in operation makes Slainte Public House the oldest operating licensed bar in Georgetown, KY, a title the Nunns are proud to bare.

Though the pub has been operating less than a decade, the building in which the pub is housed has a history of its own. Constructed in 1793, the building once served as the home of George Algair, who resided there in the 1850’s. As chairman of the Independent Ticket, Algair represented a group who opposed efforts to outlaw alcohol in Georgetown. Ann Bevin, a Scott County historian, uncovered a quote from Algair that reads “Give ‘em license, for they drink with or without it.” Perhaps Mr. Algair had a talent for clairvoyance as his former residence now gladly serves as the local watering hole for the good citizens of Georgetown.

Following Scott County’s transformation from a “dry county” to a “wet county” in 2009, there were many Georgetown citizens who were apprehensive about the opening of Slainte Public House seven short years later in 2016. Though Matt had long dreamed of owning his own bar, his wife Ashley initially was not on board with the idea. However, when the two traveled across the Atlantic, Ashley finally understood what her husband had been dreaming about.

A new convert to the idea, the Nunns took special care in making Slainte Public House a place that could foster the style of fellowship they witnessed in the Irish pubs. Walking into Slainte Public House today you will find overstuffed chairs, conversation nooks, and tables for board games and cards. Overall the pub has an atmosphere that is warmed by its regular patrons and the kindness of a tightknit community that has embraced Slainte Public House as a beloved fixture of Georgetown.

The Nunns understand that their role in the community extends beyond the walls of Slainte Public House, therefor the couple has opened their doors to many charitable organizations and causes. Today the pub sponsors the Finley 5K, Kaden’s Cause, Scott County Youth Baseball, the Gathering Place Mission, The Amen House, and Elizabeth’s Village. They also have a “Charity of the Month” program where donations to different charities are made through sample sales and customer donations. The Nunn’s also host fundraisers for various nonprofits and their pub serves as a meeting place for various local groups including Scott County firefighters and Bible study groups.

Needless to say, the Nunns’ dream of giving back to their community what they witnessed in Ireland has come true, as Slainte Public House has become a beloved institution of Georgetown. Congratulations to Matt and Ashley Nunn along with the entire team at Slainte Public House. I look forward to seeing your continued growth and success in Kentucky.

Senator Rand Paul has done much more to expose the Harvard, Epstein, Corona/Covid scam – than you or I. Another disappointingly lacklustre article from Paul.

As per usual, he doesn’t go nearly far enough.

    Where’s His Proposed Solution?

As per usual, no solution is offered, and so the article ends up being just another among millions that does little more than complain about the governments power over-reach.

In sum, another wasted opportunity for Paul.

    Real- World Fact:

The Twitter “fiasco” is merely par for the course. The whole of big tech [eg Google/Youtube, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple etc.], and much of “small tech” [eg this very site] is infected with the exact same behaviour.

    Why?

Its not just because they’re all run/moderated died in the wool braindead leftist/commie fools and sympathizers [although that certainly helps].

Enter Stage Left [or Right]: The “Mailed Fist Inside The Velvet Glove”, Or, The “Offer They Can’t Refuse”

Its because they are all continually subjected to the governments “mailed fist inside the velvet glove” treatment, where the government essentially says “do this, or else”.

In other words, these companies are all made “an offer they can’t refuse”.

The fact that these companies are all run by government-loving lefties just makes the governments job a little easier.

    The Power To Abuse

Its not about the abuse of power. It is, as Michael Cloud pointed out years ago, about the government having the power to abuse in the first place.

    Pauls Missed Oppurtunity

Which brings me back to Pauls article here. Why didnt he point out in conclusion that its about the government having the power to abuse in the first place, and that what needs to happen is that the federal government needs to be drasticaly downsized [at least] back down to its original constitutional limits, so that the power to abuse is removed?

Is it because he doesnt believe that? Or is it because he’s too polite, or scared?

Either way, by not pointing out the fact that its all ultimately about the government having the power to abuse[ie “mailed fist/velvet glove”] in the first place, and that that power needs to be removed, PRONTO!, preferably by overnight shrinking the federal government back down to its original constitutional functions, he has once more missed a great opportunity to make that very point- that is, unless, at heart, he doesn’t really believe in that goal.

Whereas, I say: “We’ve got to start us a new revolution
And get back to the old constitution
We’ve got to stand up and fight for the whole Bill of Rights
Its time to start over again”

Senator Rand Paul has objected to all the massive $monetary gifts to the Zionist Military Financial Complex that are supposedly sent to Eastern Europe. This has been covered on this forum by Ron Paul, and by me. Rand Paul objects, often utilizing procedural arguments. I do not portray Rand Paul as the perfect Revolutionary (although his father refers to himself as a “Republican Revolutionary).”

As lifelong Democrat activist, Comedian Jimmy Dore has noticed, there are more anti-war, voices on the Republican side of the Congressional Isle, than on the Democrat side.

At times, individual members (past & present), show some moral fiber, such as Cynthia McKinney, Dennis Kucinich, Jesse Ventura, & Tulsi Gabbard, and too few others. Of course, they are not a good as you or I, but they are in the line of fire. I show them respect, for whatever they do to resist. McKinney was almost killed when the ship she was on – while traveling to GAZA, was fired upon by Zionist Entity Terrorist Comandos, who killed 11.

Some of the political leaders (who are not as pure as you or I), have been killed/assassinated. Senator Rand Paul was left for dead- unconscious on his front lawn. He emerged with 6 broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Rand Paul‘s father, former 8 term Republican Congressman, Ron Paul, refused to endorse Casino Trump for the Presidency.

Just below, you can see, in a yellow box, several anti-war articles by Ron Paul. His website is an excellent place to learn. I look for and appreciate courage, wherever I find it. Sectarianism is more damaging to the opposition, than to the Power Elite who rule over us.

Unz will not print my articles (I am partially blacklisted here), so I am unable, at length, to express my views, with documentation.

I really have no idea what you mean by

That’s quite a generous read of Musk’s role.

I figure he is a businessman with an eye to his business interests.
It costs him very little to shine the light on the trepidations of his predecessors.

  27. Musk is turning Twitter into the best social media platform for advertisers in the world. He doesn’t care what you say (within the law/Twitter rules)so long as you’re a verified user. Advertisers will pay top dollar for a platform where they can sell to real people. Once the dust dies down watch Twitter revenues rise.
