Thanks to the latest release of the “Twitter Files,” we now know without a doubt that the entire “Russia disinformation” racket was a massive disinformation campaign to undermine US elections and perhaps even push “regime change” inside the United States after Donald Trump was elected president in 2016.
Here is some background. In November, 2016, just after the election, the Washington Post published an article titled, “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say.” The purpose of the article was to delegitimize the Trump presidency as a product of a Russian “disinformation” campaign.
“There is no way to know whether the Russian campaign proved decisive in electing Trump, but researchers portray it as part of a broadly effective strategy of sowing distrust in US democracy and its leaders,” wrote Craig Timberg. The implication was clear: a Russian operation elected Donald Trump, not the American people.
Among the “experts” it cited were an anonymous organization called “Prop Or Not,” which in its own words claimed to identify “more than 200 websites as peddlers of Russian propaganda during the election season, with combined audiences of at least 15 million Americans.”
The organization’s report was so preposterous that the Washington Post was later forced to issue a clarification, even though the Post provided a link to the report which falsely accused independent news outlets like Zero Hedge, Antiwar.com, and even my Ron Paul Institute as “Russian disinformation.”
The 2016 Washington Post article also featured “expert” Clint Watts, a former FBI counterintelligence officer who went on to found another outfit claiming to be hunting “Russian disinformation” in the US, the “Hamilton 68” project. That project was launched by the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a very well-funded organization containing a who’s who of top neocons like William Kristol, John Podesta, Michael McFaul, and many more.
Thanks to the latest release of the “Twitter Files,” Matt Taibbi reveals that the Hamilton 68 project, which claimed to monitor 600 “Russian disinformation” Twitter accounts, was a total hoax. While they refused to reveal which accounts they monitored and would not reveal their methodology, Twitter was able to use reverse-engineering to determine the 600-odd “Russian-connected” accounts. Twitter found that despite Hamilton’s claims, the vast majority of these “Russian” accounts were English-speaking. Of the Russian registered accounts – numbering just 36 out of 644 – most were employees of the Russian news outlet RT.
It was all a lie and the latest Twitter Files release confirms that even the “woke” pre-Musk Twitter employees could smell a rat. But the hoax served an important purpose. Hiding behind anonymity, this neocon organization was able to generate hundreds of media stories slandering and libeling perfectly legitimate organizations and individuals as “Russian agents.” It provided a very convenient way to demonize anyone who did not go along with the approved neocon narrative.
Twitter’s new owner, who has given us a look behind the curtain, put it best in a Tweet over the weekend: “An American group made false claims about Russian election interference to interfere with American elections.”
The whole “Russia disinformation” hoax was a shocking return to the McCarthyism of the 1950s and in some ways even worse. Making lists of American individuals and non-profits to be targeted and “cancelled” as being in the pay of foreigners is despicable. Such fraudulent actions have caused real-life damages that need to be addressed.
Don’t hold your breath for any investigation or comeback on the perpertrators.
The powers behind the scene – You can all guess who they are – will never allow it.
They know that many of them would deserve execution and many more would deserve long prison sentences. So they will make certain that they controlling things behind the scenes. They would have a full coup, with massive loss of life, in order to protect themselves. They are just evil.
Shame, SHAME, on you this time, Dr. Paul. The idea of “McCarthyism” is just as much of a lie as this Russia Collusion BS. It’s just that the former lie has been repeated for 70 years, and even you were a wee little one when the lies about Wisconsin Senator Joe McCarthy were generated… by Lyin’ Communists, people not a lot different from these “neocons”.
If you by small chance are reading this post, Dr. Paul, please check out the Peak Stupidity posts that come from the great M. Stanton Evans book Blacklisted by History.

Otherwise, great column as usual. Carry on.
McCarthy was a patriot. His failings were not going far enough and not naming the Jew (almost everyone named in the Venona papers were Jewish).
The real disinformation was the smearing of his name to this day. Stop continuing it
I think McCarthy was frustrated by the way his fellow Senators dragged their feet, and thus he overreached. This was counterproductive, in that he came off like a fanatical crusader.
he could probably have benefitted from developing more patience.
This belongs here.
Just who does Rand Paul think he is? Returning $6.5 million unused funds to the Government – to our American citizens? He must be an honest politician? He is our only and finest SENATOR. Yes, that must be it. Statesman Dr. Ron Paul has raised a fine son.

Dear Friend,
You can find my latest update below!
Dr. Rand Paul Returns Over $6.5 Million to U.S. Taxpayers
It’s easy to picture Washington’s out-of-control spending as a massive, untamable beast. But I’m determined to show change is possible by starting in the area under my control, while working everywhere else I can to stop ‘business as usual.’
On Friday, I announced that my office and I have returned over $6.5 million to the taxpayers since I took office in January 2011.
My office has achieved these savings by doing more with less.
This past year, my staff and I have assisted thousands of Kentuckians with casework all across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, fielding over 13,000 calls and over 14,000 letters, emails, and faxes to Kentuckians in need of assistance. Our team has also assisted Kentuckians in obtaining approximately $14.9 million in federal dollars from federal agencies.
We were among the first on the ground and have continued to assist local and state officials in the aftermath of the western Kentucky tornadoes and the eastern Kentucky floods. We have also traveled and met with Kentuckians in all 120 counties over this past year.
In Washington, D.C., my staff and I continue working for all Kentuckians and taxpayers by fighting for commonsense, fiscally conservative solutions to bureaucratic problems and waste. I’ve led the way for reform by introducing a five-year balanced budget, and shining a spotlight on reckless federal spending. My staff and I continue to defend the liberties and rights of every American, and are committed to doing so while also preserving your tax dollars.
When I ran for office, I promised Kentuckians I would stand for smaller, more efficient government, balanced budgets, and spending restraint. I’m proud my staff and I have kept that pledge while operating one of the most active federal offices.
Dr. Rand Paul Calls for Budget Reform that Reduces Spending and Brings Fiscal Sanity Back to Washington
Our nation’s economy is a disaster. Our country owes $31 trillion, a level of debt that now well exceeds the size of our economy. Inflation is making life more expensive for Kentucky families every single day.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration and Washington Democrats are directing federal agencies to continue to spend billions in taxpayer money to expand the size and scope of the IRS to go after families and small businesses, police the speech of Americans on social media, fund equity programs in the military, and pour money into programs for the COVID-19 pandemic that the Biden administration has declared over.
Americans are keenly aware that their government is not only failing to work for them – but actively working against them.
Last week, I joined a group of likeminded, fiscally conservative Senators at a press conference where we voiced our opposition to a debt-limit increase without budget reforms that actually enforce the budget and spending rules on the books, and that manage out-of-control government policies.

President Biden needs to know that he absolutely will negotiate with Republicans, and it’s better to start now rather than in a few months. Both parties need to come to the table and find ways to reduce spending and prioritize the nation’s needs just like every American is having to do right now with their own budgets.
Democrats would have to give up the sacred cow that they will never touch a dollar in welfare. And Republicans would have to give up the sacred cow that they will never touch a dollar in military. When you make the cuts across the board, they aren’t as big as you think.
We have an opportunity to get this done but it’s going to take compromise from everyone.
Let’s not spend and max out our country’s credit card like an irresponsible teenager, let’s get this right and be responsible for once.
You can watch my remarks from the press conference I hosted with Senators Mike Braun (R-IN), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Rick Scott (R-UT) HERE and read more about our efforts HERE.
Dr. Rand Paul Continues to Stand with Armed Forces, Joins Effort to Reinstate Service Members Fired Over COVID-19 Vaccine
The COVID-19 vaccine mandate has ruined the livelihoods of men and women who have honorably served our country. This inept bureaucratic policy should have never been imposed, and while it has since been rolled back, we still have service members who have not been rehired, promoted, or received back pay and benefits.
Recently, I joined a group of my fellow Senators in introducing the AMERICANS Act that will address those issues and others that the Biden administration has failed to consider at the expense of service members’ lives and our nation’s national security interests.
You can read more about our efforts HERE.
Dr. Rand Paul Meets with Isaiah House in Washington, D.C.
This past week, I was able to meet with leaders and organizers from Isaiah House in Washington D.C., while they visited our nation’s capital.

During our meeting we discussed their ongoing efforts in Kentucky with addiction recovery and substance abuse. I was able to visit them a couple summers ago in Willisburg while traveling throughout Kentucky, and I’m grateful to be able to meet with their amazing team in Washington to continue our discussions.
Isaiah House is the only treatment center in Kentucky, and in the nation to serve as a satellite college campus, where they work to prevent opioid overdosing, reduce opioid overprescribing, and offer recovery support and education.
Isaiah House is one of many great organizations in Kentucky who continually contribute to their communities and are committed to getting people the help they need and on a path to recovery. Keep up the great work!

This gives an idea of how honest politicians can behave and serve their country. I highlight key portions of Rand Paul’s political positions that he fought for, and has recorded in his newsletter.

We must not ask for, or expect some mythical Perfection in government officials, or other fellow Americans. We must acknowledge good efforts when we witness them, criticize when necessary, and show them the way to RETURN the BULLETS of November 22, 1963, and Restore Our Republic! We must take part in that struggle.
Dr. Peter J. Antonsen – nom de guerre, Durruti
Quite possibly. But the fact that 90% of the Western world think he was wrong because of a book written by a commie Jew is despicable
The Lyin’ Press at the time could make Joe McCarthy into a fanatical crusader, but that doesn’t mean he was (at least the “fanatical” part), Jokem.
If you have a few days, I highly recommend the book I discussed above. Read the review first – some of it, on the Tydings hearings, for example, is kind of a slog. It’s a long book, but one can understand quite a few important parts of history of the 1940’s-’50s from it. One example is “who lost China?”
I strongly suspect McCarthy rose partly as a result of “real”Americans like Lindbergh, Henry Ford and others failure to keep the US out of WW II, despite trying their best. It was the Jews that got the US into WW II and they have dirtied the names of real American patriots that did not want the US to fight Germany for world Jewry. This has been revealed by several historical facts, including key people that prior to and during the war said Jews pushed the US into the war. These facts could someday become widely known and if that happened, a lot would change.
We will begin – after the end of WW I.
1. It is difficult to ignore the German invasion of Czechoslovakia (Anschluss may be excused, – Germans together), but the swallowing of Czechoslovakia, supporting the Italian imperialist (and poison gas) attack on Ethiopia, and the overthrow of Spain’s elected Republic, then came Germany’s invasion of Poland, then Norway, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg.
2. How are these attacks excusable? My dad & his 4 brothers served in the Belgian army. They did not appreciate their country being used as a short cut into France in either of the World Wars. My dad later served in the US Army.
3. Hitler was a Zionist agent, most likely from the time he left Vienna. I have explained this in detail in previous comments – here.
4. Forward to the Past – The key war that determined our country’s political trajectory, all the way to November 22, 1963, and to the present, was WW I. The American Socialist Party of Eugene Debs opposed American entry into that war. Debs, was one of the founders off the Anarchist IWW, and later the leader of the American Railway Union, was sentenced to 4 years of Prison for opposing America’s entry into the war.
5. You would be fascists, Nazis, union busting lovers of the Right, explain socialist union leader Eugene Debs – if you can. You cannot explain Irish socialist James Connolly (who opposed the English in WW I).
6. The pattern of America’s entry into the WWs was set in 1917. And the Navy, as in 1898, and later at Pearl Harbor, WW I-Lusitania, prepared/set up the excuse for our joining the wars. More recently, they almost succeeded with the Liberty, except the ship refused to sink, and its Captain refused to die).
Petermx, I mean you no disrespect, but as the Hollywood movie bad guy said, and I paraphrase, “You can’t handle the truth.”
The enemy are not ONLY the Germans, or the Right or the Left, but neither are they the good guys.
The Good Guys are the American People, (left, right, & middle), who will Rise to Restore Our Republic, which was destroyed in the Coup D’état of November 22, 1963.
It’s nice to see perpetrators named in an article.
So many times writers criticize the “Neocons” without listing who they are.
William Kristol, John Podesta, Michael McFaul are some of the leading Neocons who direct our country to wars on behalf of their profiteering masters.
Shed light on these vermin and enable the populace to shun and eventually destroy them.
Just FYI, I did not say he was a fanatical crusader, but that he came off like one, and in politics, as I am sure many here know, appearances matter more than facts. I think McCarthy overreached for reasons I have already stated. Too bad…
Can’t do that. That would be evil Paulism! ;-}
For Jokem, yes I know you wrote he “came off like one”, but that “coming off” is purely due to the Lyin’ Press 70 year-long narrative. I don’t agree with your take on McCarthy, but then I’ve read the book. There’s no way I could explain the whole thing in a blog comment. Yes, the Senator was frustrated, but, no, he didn’t overreach. The information on one set of Commies would lead down the rabbit hole to more of them, and so on …
Speaking of “Commies.” The Russians have long memories.
