In these past couple of weeks, two important studies have been published that could dramatically increase our understanding of the Covid-19 disease. Adding to the science of how we understand and treat this disease is something that should be welcomed, because properly understood it can save lives.

The only problem is that because the results from these two studies challenge what the media has established as conventional wisdom about the disease, the reports are at best being ignored and at worst being openly distorted by the mainstream media.

This is in my view a dangerous and foolish subjugation of science to politics and it may well end up causing many more unnecessary deaths.

First is the Danish mask study, which was completed several months ago but was only recently published in a peer-reviewed journal. The study took two groups and gave the first group masks to wear with instruction on how they should be used. The other group was the mask-free control group.

The study found that coronavirus spread within the statistical margin of error in each group. In other words, wearing the mask did little if anything to control the spread of the virus.

As the wearing of masks is still being mandated across the country and the globe, this study should be reported as an important piece of counter-evidence. At the very least it might be expected to invite a rush of similar studies to refute or confirm the results.

However, while mostly ignored by the media, when it was covered the spin on the study was so strange that the conclusion presented was opposite to the findings. For example, the Los Angeles Times published an article with the headline, “Face mask trial didn’t stop coronavirus spread, but it shows why more mask-wearing is needed.”

Similarly, a massive new study conducted in Wuhan, China, and published in the respected scientific journal Nature, reports that asymptomatic persons who have tested positive for Covid-19 do not pass on the infection to others. Considering that mask mandates and lockdowns are all based on the theory that asymptomatic “positive cases” can still pass on the sickness, this is potentially an important piece of information to help plan a more effective response to the virus.

At the least, again, it should stimulate additional, far-reaching studies to either confirm or deny the Wuhan study.

We do know, based on information from widely-accepted sources as the CDC and World Health Organization, that lockdowns can have a very serious negative effect on society. On July 14th, CDC Director Robert Redfield told a seminar that lockdowns are causing more deaths than Covid.

So if there is a way to continue fighting Covid and protecting those most at risk while drastically reducing deaths related to lockdowns, isn’t this worth some consideration? Isn’t this worth at least some further research?

Well, not according to the mainstream media. They have established their narrative and they are not about to budge. The two studies are fatally flawed, they report. Of course that might be the case, but isn’t that an argument to attempt to replicate the studies to prove it?

That would be the scientific approach. Sadly, “trust the science” has come to mean “trust the narrative I support.” That is a very dangerous way of thinking and can prove to be deadly.

Again, as with the previous article posted here, Dr Paul misses the point entirely. [Why exactly? Enquiring minds want to know!]

    This “just” in Dr. Paul:

1] It’s completely irrelevant as to whether “science” and “scientists”, ” prove” that the virus [or any other virus, for that matter] , actually exists and is dangerous , or not. [Of course the virus hasn’t even been been proven to exist , by “scientists”, or anyone else, but that’s a whole other story, so lets’ assume, for the sake of argument, that it does exist].

3] It’s completely irrelevant as to whether or not lockdowns actually work and save lives. [They don’t, but lets’ assume, for the sake of argument, that they do].

4] It’s completely irrelevant as to whether or not masks work and save lives. [They don’t, but lets’ assume, for the sake of argument, that they do].

5] It’s completely irrelevant as to whether any CV-19 vaccine actually works/saves lives, or not. [But lets’ assume, for the sake of argument, that they do work, yes, all of them!].

Regardless, in the US, there is no constitutional provision for the mandatory , nationwide enforcement of lockdowns, masks, social distancing, or vaccines, on the claims or whims of scientists, doctors, presidents, politicians, bureaucrats , or anyone else. END OF STORY!

    “Regards” onebornfree

Your analysis and conclusions would be helpful if we could count on the Constitution to protect us. That dream ended long ago. My view is that the last of our liberties will be lost if we do not actually look to real science. If, for example, we do not require proof “…that the virus [or any other virus, for that matter] , actually exists and is dangerous…,” that the PCR test actually is relevant, or that any other proof exists. Without such proof we can be locked down at any whim for any reason. All that is needed is fear of a mysterious something that magically appears out of nowhere.

In May of this year, I filed a Freedom of Information Request with the CDC asking for proof of existence, harm and transmissibility. The response was a an analysis of specimens from eight deceased elderly people with co-morbidities, seven of which died in nursing homes. Included were several electron microscope pictures of numerous particles, a few of which were identified as coronaviruses. There was no proof of an isolated, purified virus or of harm by that particular virus. The study to prove transmission between humans was a literature survey from Chinese sources.

As a further futile attempt to find proof I recently asked the Colorado Department of Health for much the same thing and included request for proof of the efficacy for the PCR test. I received a nice email from the governor’s office assuring me that everything was being done to protect me from this virus. No proof. Does this mean that the CDC, the state of Colorado or any other division of the political class never insisted on proof before destroying the American economy? Yes, that is my conclusion.

The only way out of this political disaster is a direct scientific attack on the “science” of virology itself.

The Constitution is the “Operators” Manual” of the Republic. I was impressed with, and enjoyed, the initial reaction to the problem of the disease. “Hey! Guys. We got a problem. No body knows for sure, but it looks like if we do X, there will be the least damage. Let’s go!”

Damn! It worked! There was no absolute truth, but the crowd made it work for long enough. Some closed the beaches. Some closed the campgrounds and kept the beaches open. Federalism, but try and do something useful and be kind. My reaction was, “Who the F___ is going to explain “Flattening the Curve” without causing a panic?”

The inertia only got things so far until the squabbling broke out. “Mayors” AND “Governors” had to do something to show that they had things under control. It then got ugly. But that brief shining moment when folks moved together was glorious. I’ve worked in a sanitary environment. It is a full-time job to prevent contamination. “They” could never do it. Stopping the disease was impossible. “Let’s go.” We did good enough.

That is where it is at.

There is no way to stop it.

It isn’t dangerous anyway, unless you’re old and sick and you have one foot in the grave already.

The whole this is utter nonsense.

I know three people who’ve had it and it wasn’t a big deal. My lady friend thought it was her allergies acting up….she tested positive for Covid. It was literally NOTHING.

This is economic warfare against our people….the deliberate destruction of our economy to impose a communist world order.

Sweden didn’t buy into the hoax and they are doing just fine.

Eight of our states didn’t lockdown and they are doing fine as well.

Covid is the second biggest hoax in all of history.

Covid is actually an intelligence test that many people have failed.

  7. On Coronavirus, We Must Not Allow Politics to Dictate Science

Bit late now isn’t it? Politics has turned into dictatorship, using speculation-posing-as-‘science’ as the pretext

  8. unit472 says:

First of all, a “study” is NOT science. It is the conclusion of its authors who may or may not be right. The periodic table of the elements is science. I happen to believe mask wearing is a good idea given our pitiful state of scientific understanding of Covid like washing your hands is considered ‘good hygiene’ after visiting the toilet. Neither is going to prevent all disease spread but it may limit it. By how much no one really knows but just as you might refuse to eat a meal cooked by a person who chose not to wash his hands after going to the toilet not wearing a face mask on an airplane is, at the least discourteous, and may actually increase the risk of infection.

Covid is actually an intelligence test that many people have failed.

    Oh… The irony.

As a cohort, East Asians have the lowest rate of infection and the highest IQ in the world. COVID is indeed an intelligence test that proves the rule -It confirms there is a racial hierarchy in intelligence- In any case, I hope you are you saying people get COVID to pass the IQ test!

You guys have no idea how fucking stupid White people looks to Asians.

I can’t believe you guys are still arguing about the “science” Of wearing masks when China have zero local infection and its economy is already back to 100% due to early intervention,

This study is a total farce designed by really stupid “researchers”. Did anyone realize it was done in a country where no one else wear masks? The benefit of mask wearing comes from getting the infected to wear them! Not those who are fine! Some white people really have a low IQ who cannot understand simple logic..

If I am stuck in a room where 10 COVIdiot, I am going to get COVID regardless of what I wear because I can get infected if it gets into my eyeballs or even my skin ! Of course you will see similar rates of infection If everyone else you meet don’t wear masks. Surgical masks have been invented 100 years ago to prevent the infected from infecting others, not to protect those who are fine. What make this so difficult to understand!

Actually, this have nothing to do with common sense practices like mask wearing or even lockdowns, It is not even IQ…it is common decency, mental maturity and responsibility. You guys are acting like 5 year old kids.

Calling it a hoax when 250k have died is just psychopathic. You deserve to get COVID and experience the suffering that others have gone through. So glad I don’t live amongst you low IQ psychopaths.

  14. There are many mask studies or experiments that strongly indicate that mask wearing helps a lot.

We should not cherry pick the evidence to support our emotional preferences. This is the way of a loser, like Donald “the loser” Trump.

    @GreatSocialist

I am not sure Trump lost.

I think there is stupidity, incompetence and corruption in every election, when the victory margin is less than 1%, it becomes significant.

The champions of cherry picking evidence based upon emotion is the left wing.

  16. A libertarian lecturing us on science is like a prostitute lecturing us on abstinence.

Your entire ideology is built on the rejection of human genetics.

Once you allow that race exists the whole thing falls apart. All of it.

Rand’s ideology becomes not only stupid but suicidal as you are required to take in third world immigrants under the belief that they are more valuable than your national group. Rand said that blocking immigration is a form of collectivism that cannot be tolerated.

This is because Rand declared that race doesn’t exist but then later said it might exist but we should pretend it doesn’t if it does.

Real logical stuff. Outright asking people to lie about reality if she is wrong. Can dig up that quote from her if anyone would like it. Or I can find her quotes about how Israel doesn’t have to follow her open immigration policy. So Israel can be collectivist cause that’s different.

But please go on about how we need to be careful when assessing these types of studies to make sure we are formulating sound policy based on reality. We wouldn’t want to jump ahead and declare something like race to be merely skin color just because a bitter hypocritical woman said so.

  17. @Chinaman

You guys have no idea how fucking stupid White people looks to Asians.

    I can imagine.

What those Asians don’t understand is that we have two sides of establishment media that are only united in their shared contempt of the public. Both believe that the public can’t be trusted to think critically and have no regard for truth. We are in the middle of an information war and neither side wants to take a break and put public health first.

One side took the position that the virus it is nothing to worry about and anything you hear on CNN/MSNBC is exaggerated.

The other took side took the position that everything is the president’s fault and everything would be fine if not for him and red staters that don’t wear masks. But that was months after Asian countries were taking it seriously. However they have duped half the public into believing that the Democrats were on top of it.

Neither side can really explain the continued spread. There are liberal California counties with high mask usage rates along with record hospitalization rates.

I support mask wearing but it obviously isn’t enough. I suspect there are politically incorrect aspects that they aren’t telling us. There is clearly a source of spread that is defying facemask orders.

But the main point here is that most White people have a hard time parsing all the information that is put in front of them. Asian news is more formal and they aren’t constantly trying to push a political agenda. Everything is a political war at CNN and Fox. They can’t even report on a hotdog stand without some type of political spin.

  18. @Robert Dolan

I know three people who’ve had it and it wasn’t a big deal. My lady friend thought it was her allergies acting up….she tested positive for Covid. It was literally NOTHING.

That falls in line with most studies. Most people don’t have serious symptoms.

Covid is the second biggest hoax in all of history.

What exactly is the hoax? That it shouldn’t be taken seriously?

So when hospitals delay elective surgeries due to a lack of resources it is because they are pulling a prank on the public?

‘This is because Rand declared that race doesn’t exist but then later said it might exist but we should pretend it doesn’t if it does.’

Can you publish a quote here where Rand said this?

‘Asian news is more formal and they aren’t constantly trying to push a political agenda. ‘

Yes, North Korea and Red China never have a political agenda behind their announcements?
