Of Good and Evil, Love and Hate

When I was a child, I had my first experience with Communism.  I did not yet know it.

It was a popular fashion amongst ejucaters[a]An Oliverism, to distinguish the ejucaters from genuine educators. to assign shared projects with shared grades to pairs of students.  Of course, the smartest kid must be paired with the stupidest kid.  Equality!  The smart one shall not be heard to complain:  That would be “arrogant” and “not compassionate”, and it may even be a symptom of psychological problems.

This is, of course, no different than tying an Olympic athlete to a congenitally deformed cripple, making them run a three-legged race, and then preaching to the athlete that he had better understand:  He is no better than his fellow human being.

Up or Down

When faced with something superior to yourself, there are only two options:  Look up to it, or try to pull it down to your level.  As a believer in the virtue of inequality, I am not ashamed to admit that in some important ways, some people are better than I am.  For example, Olympic gymnasts are stronger, more agile, and in many cases, also more beautiful.

These people are bodily so superior to me, they may as well be of a higher species.

Racists like to point out that Aryans were building moon rockets, at a time when some tribes of Congoids in Africa still had not yet figured out how to use wheels for transportation.  I am a racist—and I am a fancier of human breeds, in the manner of a dog fancier or a cat fancier.

As such, I recognize that the Germans were one of the finest human breeds that has ever existed.  In most every realm of achievement, in art, science, and technology, they had few competitors as a nation that produced historic greatness.  To acknowledge this is no different than to see that Europe generally has much higher achievements than Sub-Saharan Africa.  And the Germans were beautiful people—collectively, generally.  For one with an eye for beauty, it is impossible not to notice that Hitler-era Germany had an abundance of human beauty, in both sexes.

Admire them—or be jealous of them.  Either-or.

To the Bad, Good is Evil

The Germans, those “evil” Nazis, were attacked for being too good.  Nietzsche will explain that:  Good, according to the morality of the best, is called “evil”, according to the morality of the worst.[b]See Beyond Good and Evil 260; and The Genealogy of Morals, passim.  The Germans had such great goodness, their “evil” must be defiled, defaced, defamed, and destroyed.

And so it came to pass that the Americans, a nation of hate half-founded by the runaway dregs of Europe, did even worse to the Germans than they had to America’s foundational other half:  The Southern gentlemen and ladies, whose antebellum cultural superiority was an affront to crude fanatics who descended from the Puritans.  The culturally aristocratic South, a young country which was maturing to be almost European in outlook, had to be broken, violated, and cast down into the mud.

Take the so-called “Reconstruction”, Second “Reconstruction”, Third “Reconstruction”, and more “Reconstruction”—exponentiate those horrors inflicted on the American Southerners—and you may thus approximate what is, quite fittingly, sometimes called the “German Reconstruction”.

By American Diktat,[c]To avoid, on the one hand, some potentially unsupportable conspiracy theories floating around on the German Internet—and on the other, complicated German legal arguments beyond my competence to assess—I will simply note that Germany is, in fact, still under military occupation by a hostile foreign enemy that entered as self-declared “conquerors”, is ruled by a government that was instituted strictly under that same enemy’s control, was initially occupied with explicit declarations that the occupation would continue “for a hundred years, or forever” if necessary to conform the occupied to the occupier’s expectations, and is still held under an “enemy state” threat by that same foreign enemy.  These are indisputable, well-known facts, not “conspiracy theories”.  Anyone who claims that the American occupation army in Germany is there in “friendship” to “protect” the Germans is either too stupid to be worth talking to, or a malicious liar; and it is the nadir of naïvety to fancy that the Germans have any significant long-range control of their government, in any matter that the Americans consider important to the American global-international agenda.  The usual American propaganda trick of establishing an American puppet-state in a country under military occupation, then having its stooges “agree” to a permanent “friendly” American military presence, is so transparently dishonest and hypocritical a ploy as could only be conceived in the brain of an American.  Mutatis mutandis, I likewise dismiss anyone who claims that the current “Iraqi” government is fully sovereign and independent of America—although judging by its behavior, the “Iraqi” government is somewhat more Iraqi than the “German” government is German.

I will return to this subject in future Proems.
in a country that is still under military occupation to this day, this:

Germans.

No viler and more jealous hatred has been seen in this world since the time when Roman Christians desecrated temples, smashed statues, and burnt books they deemed “pagan”.

When the great Norwegian author Knut Hamsun visited America in the 1880s, he concluded, “Instead of founding an intellectual elite, America has established a mulatto studfarm”.  What have the Americans established in Germany—and in all of Europe?

On the nature of the Second World War

Although I am a proud, unapologetic racist, I am not a racial reductionist.[d]Here, I may depart from some of my primary influences.  My evaluation at this section is closer to being Nietzschean, although I oft criticize Nietzsche for ascribing insufficient import to race, than Oliverian.  I follow no party line; I am an independent thinker.  To deny the importance of race is to lose all else that is important—but to reduce all to race is to lose all else, too.  It is another instance of equal and opposite errors.

By any reasonable definition, the German National Socialists were racists.  But they were not racial reductionists.  That is why they could form with the Japanese not only an alliance, but a cross-cultural friendship.  Two aristocratic nations of different races could recognize each other, and deal with each other inter pares collectively as aristocrats always have individually.  Nobility knows its own.

White racialists should perpend the above juxtaposition of photos, and realize that that is the result of the Japanese loss:  The loss of Germany and her allies.  The historical logic is ineluctable:  To save the Aryan race, to save Aryan Europe, it was good and necessary to support warfare by non-Aryans against the racially Aryan Americans.  Similar considerations apply to the Axis plan to support Subhas Chandra Bose, which would have knocked out what the Anglophile Hitler had previously called the “pivot” (orig. “Angelpunkt”) of the British Empire—to destroy the global structure of what had been seen as “white supremacy”.  Although judging by his looks and his behavior, Bose himself was of substantial Aryan stock, his army would have consisted largely of dark men killing whites of Albion with Japanese weapons.  And if all of this had saved the cause of Germany and her allies, it would have saved the Aryan race!

New “Europeans”.  Proximate cause:  Germany and her allies lost the War.

Except insofar as it was a war of Jews against Aryans, the Second World War was not a race war:  It was a war between aristocracy and degenerate democracy, between the Herrenmoral and the Sklavenmoral, between the native spirit of Europe and the Judaeo-Christian spirit—between vitality and decadence.  The nations of caste and culture[e]Cf. the famous passage in The Genealogy of Morals I.11, at which in giving examples of his archetypal Blond Beast “aristocratic races”, Nietzsche includes the Japanese nobility (and also, the Arabic nobility) together with the Roman nobility, the German nobility, the Homeric heroes, and the Scandinavian Vikings. were attacked by the spiritual-Chāndāla alliance of Judaeophilic Capitalist Americans and Judaeo-Soviet Communist Bolsheviks, who thereafter divided between themselves all Europe as spoils.  The Jews mastered the decadents of the white race, worst of all the Americans, just as the Jews always master decadent movements; as Nietzsche observed,[f]The Antichrist 24. the Jews themselves are the opposite of decadents, but they use decadents as their source of power, a weapon against those who say Yea to life.

The German revival led by Hitler was a radical repudiation of decadence, and one of the greatest Yeas to life that this world has ever seen.  And for this, the Germans are hated.

I conclude this thought with an excerpt of someone else’s article; indeed, it may be said that all I wrote above was merely a preface to the following.  The predictions at the end, which I hereby omit, understandably failed to foresee the collapse of the Soviet Union as a political entity; this does not tarnish the author’s appraisal of the recent past, with which I wholly agree. ®

Why Germans are Hated

 By Revilo P. Oliver
Liberty Bell, November 1989, pp. 10–11.

I recently talked with a Rumanian who had been a young man in 1944 when the Germans, after their catastrophic defeat in Russia, had to retreat from a country they could no longer defend against the Americans’ Soviet allies.

In the hurried retreat, there was some inevitable disorganization and some units of the German Army became separated from their commissary.  The hungry men dispersed and in small groups went to the homes of the peasants and asked to be fed.  The peasants, although they disliked the occupation of their country by foreign troops, prepared food for the Germans, who, after a meal on peasant fare, scrupulously paid for it, and with courteous words of thanks in German went on their way.

Now wasn’t that just awful?  The Germans, who didn’t love Sheenies, obviously had not assimilated Jewish ethics and the Jewish Weltanschauung Is it any wonder that the democratic Americans help their Jewish government hunt down those dreadful War Criminals?  In fact, a nation that behaves like that should be exterminated, shouldn’t it?  If not exterminated by the method proposed by Kaufman in his once popular Germany Must Perish (1941)[1]A reprint of this classic of Jewish thought is available from Liberty Bell Publications, \$4.00 + postage.  [Footnote is historical. —Raches.] then exterminated in some other way, perhaps by miscegenation.

After the Germans retreated, the Americans’ Army of Liberation moved in.  It is properly called the Americans’ army because it was equipped and financed from the United States, which was a great industrial nation at that time.  Furthermore, it was in the service of a régime that had been imposed on Russia chiefly by the United States, was then carrying out the plans of the foul and diseased monster that then ruled the United States from its lair in the White House, and was able to invade Rumania only because the United States and its puppets were attacking Germany in a war of total barbarism.  It was a relatively unimportant detail that the hordes invading Rumania were almost entirely composed of hybrids of Slavic and Mongol blood with a dose of Tartar thrown in for seasoning.

The Liberators moved through the countryside that was the home of my informant, who somehow managed to survive the Liberation.  The invaders took the women out and gang-raped them, forcing the fathers, husbands, and sons to watch the merriment.  When tired of intensive rape, they usually shot the women or cut them up a bit and left them to bleed to death, and then machine-gunned the men.  Ah, that’s more like it!  No wonder the Americans are proud of their success in promoting democracy throughout the world.

To be sure, Russian generals and colonels, full of Judaeo-Soviet culture, did not behave as did their men.  They selected the best houses in a town, magnanimously gave the owners two hours to get out, and occupied the premises.  If they felt.a need for amusement and recreation, the most attractive females of the town were dragged in to show their gratitude for the glorious Liberation.  When the Russian officers moved on, the owners, if they had not been killed in the meantime, could resume possession of what had been their home, which had been completely stripped of every portable object, including even the doorknobs.  The empty shell, however, would protect them from rain, although there was no way to replace the broken windows.

Such were the blessings of Freedom that the Americans bestowed on Rumania.  Is it any wonder that they are proud of their achievement and humbly grateful to the Master Race that taught them how to work for One World?

Of course, I do not mean that individual Americans approve of all the work of Liberation.  In fact, I am sure that many individuals disapprove of such details as I have mentioned.  That may be unfortunate.

In the ongoing thread about America, the Nation of Hate, there is some discussion of Philippe Pétain, Vidkun Quisling, and Wang Jingwei.  I admire all three of these leaders, in varying degrees.  Therefore, I wish to start this thread off on the right foot.  Although I find Marshal Pétain to be the least agreeable to me, he and his “Vichy France” government certainly do not deserve to be traduced in the usual ways.

[This commentator has been banned from Proems for viciously insulting the Goebbels family in a memorial thread, after I specifically warned against that.  If I failed to lay down the law after preaching my own authoritarianism, I would be a hypocrite!  And nothing of value is thus lost:  This commentator has anyway just been wasting my time with sanctimonious posturing, insults, and armchair psychobabble, with a psychotic disregard for the facts.

Case in point:  The comment hereby began by insulting my intelligence, concluded by accusing me of “ranting”, and in between, alleged that “The German government is controlled solely by Germans and obviously operates with the complete consent of the governed.”  Whereas besides the small matter of America’s continuing military occupation of Germany, anyone who is in the least bit familiar with German politics knows that the “Bundesrepublik Deutschland” government has been regularly banning political parties since 1953, and that it uses strict political censorship laws to prevent the Germans from instituting a really German government as in 1933–45.

The allegation that the German government is obviously under the sole control of the German people is just as absurd as this commentator’s allegation elsewhere that the Mossad is oh so helpless, because it allegedly had a budget of only “less than \$1 billion a year” in 2001 (!), and this commentator’s prior allegation that the Goebbels family had “two” children (!!).

I am unsurprised that this commentator is so far detached from reality, given that she has openly professed to indulge in “what is essentially a state of full drug-induced psychosis”—quote-unquote.  Life experience has taught me not to waste my time with druggies; this is exemplary as to why, and I shan’t waste my time with this one any further here. — Raches. ®]

While there is historical enmity, much of the problem is current.

-1- The EuroZone and € Currency were created to lock in German Austerity economics. Merkel’s Germany killed Greek children with its devotion to the Almighty EUR.

-2- Germany hates free will. They do not like the fact that countries like Hungary & Poland are sovereign, and makes threats trying to force them to obey.

-3- Merkel (on behalf of Germany) placed young European girls at great risk with her “Welcome Rape-ugees” policy. Sex crimes are up in every country that accepted Merkel’s rape-ugees. This is what Europe thinks of the German dominated EU

I would like to think that these are manifestations of German Elites. However the recent election suggests a government that will be worse on these issues. Germans could have voted for the Common Sense Party [AfD], but chose not to.

  7. I don’t think that Germans are universally despised. Jews generally hate them, and I think that hatred is more in line with your thoughts than with bitterness over the whatever actually happened during the 30s and 40s. Jews would despise Germans, just as they despise white Americans, had there been no WWII.

I saw an international poll a few years back that claimed that Germans were among the most favorabley viewed people on earth as tourists and hosts. This is all I could find in a quick search:

As for the “aristocracy” of the South, I have mixed feelings as a Southerner. By aristocracy, I guess you mean the likes of the Washingtons, Lees, and others who had old ties to the British aristocracy, and not everyone who was able to develop a plantation and profit from it. Without their slaves, America would be a very different place today. They did to the South what the victors of WWII are doing to Germamy today, and their descendants are just as decadent and corrosive to all that you hold dear as anyone, from what I can tell.

The colonial and antebellum South had a fair amount of Germans, but they were mostly free farmers, craftsmen, businessmen, and religious dissenters, like some of my ancestors who were Moravian or Swiss Protestant.

In general, there was a harsh class system that was exploitative and harmful to most whites, which is hard to look back upon fondly for most. The populist movement in the South that opposed integration in the 50s and 60s was far better for most whites than the old regime, and it was the only viable choice to get rid of domination by the North, since the old aristocracy had pretty much allied with Washington against the masses of white Southerners by then. Our interests were never the same. Like all other elites, they only turned their eyes to their lower kin when they needed us to fight for them, which is why I don’t care that much if a statue or two is removed.

I have thought about this question quite a lot as well. It is of great interest why Germans were in the focus of cold-blooded rejection even in the late 19th century when the European Powers started to re-group with a focus of annihilating Germany, resulting in the deliberate bringing about of the war of 1914. So it wasn’t ‘nazi’, it wasn’t ‘kayserism’ , ‘Prussian or German militarism’, it wasn’t ‘anti-Judaism’. To keep reasoning along the lines of justifying continued policies of annihilation of the largest European nation needs a deeper explanation. To boot, to hate Germans, treat them always like criminals on temporary parole because one can’t prove just then what they are up to now, shows that being so evil (I think this word is the right one) as to wish in cold blood and with good conscience the disappearance of a whole people requires an explanation which will have to descend into depths of the netherworld of the psyche.

Why do you think Nietzsche despised the Germans so much, Raches?

I remember as a young boy reading Nietzsche, and being shocked at how full of scathing mockery and contempt for Germans Nietzsche’s writing was. He also despised the English, who he considered Germanic. He also frequently mocked Aryans and gave examples of the negative contributions of what he described the typical Aryan mentality.

As a young boy who admired the English and the Germans, I never could understand it. It was truly a puzzle to me.

In fact, Nietzsche loved and admired only the Latin French and Italians among Europeans, who he praised lavishly and profusely. N also said some very positive things about Russians, and thought Dostoevsky the most profound writer in Europe.

Nietzsche also suggested that the German race would be massively improved by intermarriage with Jews, and envisioned a new European race to which Jewish genes would make an indispensable contribution. Nietzsche also said he despised anti-Semites and found them idiotic and unbearable, and broke off relations with his his sister and her husband, a well known anti-Semite, partially over this issue. He also distanced himself from Richard Wagner and his wife, his closest friends, partially over his anti-Semitism.

Nietzsche of course also lavished the highest and most profuse praise on Jews, and thought the Jewish Old Testament the most powerful book he had ever read, even as he thought the Jewish “revaluation.of values” to have been a disastrous contribution to world history – thereby developing a nuanced context from which to discuss the Jewish question.

Nietzsche’s closest childhood friend, Paul Ree, was a Jew, and N fell in love with a Jewish woman, Lou Salome, who ultimately chose the great German poet Rilke over N.

I am curious as to what you think about all this.

Merkel (on behalf of Germany) placed young European girls at great risk with her “Welcome Rape-ugees” policy.

I question the extent to which Germans are actually hated–are there a lot of hate crimes against Germans I’m unaware of?–but I would point out that Merkel’s zealous importation of millions of military-age African and Middle Eastern men is no less German in character than the Nazis’ genocide of millions of untermenschen. The common German attribute in both cases is the extremism. Germans may turn 180 degrees, but they will go 180 mph in the new direction.

Yes, it’s one of the oddest things to see White Nationalists take Nietzsche for their hero.

But I have generally found that White Nationalists are truly ignorant of the intellectual history of the race and culture they profess to love. It’s quite bizarre.

I used to be really into Nietzsche as a teenager. The funny thing is, I have not read him since then, and I have not thought about him for decades – yet the past year, all sorts of N quotes are popping into my mind!

The man had interesting things to say about everything and every situation – even though I completely reject his mature philosophy and find so many ideas of his ideas wrong and absurd.

For instance, he analyzed Christianity as a local affair, as if Buddhism and Taoism etc, relatively similar phenomena, did not exist (although he did make some comments on Buddhism, but he was not familiar with the Mahayana and did not understand what he did know).

  18. AaronB says:
    @songbird

Nietzsche’s views were nuanced and complex – the opposite of simple minded us vs them thinking. He also looked at things from a “higher” perspective where they might be integrated – instead of just condemning something, he would see how it could be integrated into a larger picture.

He was not a “dualist”, and chose Zarathustra as his mouthpiece in his most famous work to enunciate his non-dualistic philosophy, because he thought it fitting that the Persian originator of Manichean us vs them thinking should now repudiate it.

So he didn’t simply despise Germans as a race – he despised what they had become, the German culture of the modern period from about 1500 – and he did think Germans had serious racial deficiencies. Nevertheless, N thought Germans would be a valuable component of the new European race.

Similarly with Jews, he basically thought they were responsible for the worst calamity in history through Christianity – the Revaluation of All Values.

But instead of merely condemning Jews in a simple minded fashion, he saw how this could have beem the result of excellent qualities the Jews had and of having been in an impossible situation after the Roman conquest, and how today Jews could be a valuable component of the new European race.

Nietzsche was always thinking about “development” – he did not think the existing European race represented anything close to perfection, and envisioned a future race far superior to anything existing.

So when Nietzsche says something negative or positive about something, it is always from a particular perspective – from a higher perspective, the picture completely changed.

Unfortunately, White Nationalists might read a few lines of Nietzsche criticizing the Jewish role on history, and not understand the nuance and depth of his thought on the topic.

You raised a point that is of peculiar interest to me, but that I omitted from the instant article.  The anti-German propaganda of the 1945 era was the culmination of propaganda ongoing for decades, and is still very relevant today.

I have been intending to blog this further; indeed, my “hello, world” post was delayed because I wasted hours discovering that Bitchute totally blocks uploads through my anonymous Internet.  I had wanted to exemplify official U.S. government anti-German propaganda which explicitly condemned the Germans as a people:  The people of Hitler, of the Kaiser, of Bismarck, of Friedrich, who must be placed under military occupation “if necessary, forever” as their children are re-educated with “new textbooks prepared for German youth under our [American] direction, not the Germans’”—for the archetypal German must “rid” himself of “his history and his tradition.  That, he must do for himself.”

I will return to this point—many times—among others that you implied, or that are closely related to what you said.  (E.g., my historical interpretation of the 1914–45 events as a Thirty Years’ War—I arrived at that independently, although I have since become aware that others have the similar conclusions.)

And today, this issue is relevant far beyond Germany.  The anti-German propaganda of 1914–45, and its antecedents, set the precedent for a century of American warmongering.  When I first discovered the memory-holed history of the War, it radically changed my view of other wars, such as the Iraq wars; I have mentioned this before.  Nowadays, when I see agitation against China from the American right, or agitation against Russia from the American left, I see the same patterns.

When I read his work, I think that Mr. Unz seems to have approached this from the opposite direction as I did, and arrived at some concurrent conclusions, despite his political outlook being drastically different from mine.  Opposition to massively destructive neocon/neolib warmongering in American needs to get to the root of the problem—or perhaps better said, the anti-German keystone must be knocked out of the arch of the belief that Americans are the Good Guys, the world-police, not only entitled but obligated to go around the world attacking comic-book supervillains as Kaiser Hitler or Saddam Hussein, evil Chinese, or evil Russians.

Now, the anti-German sentiment is still very much alive and kicking.  I see some of it here; and I think we must get it out into the open:  Where better, than in a thread about why Germans are hated?

I have seen much more of it before on some alt-right types of sites, where there is a persistent agitation against evil, nasty Germans who destroy Europe by importing Merkel’s darling pets.  I am unsurprised to see that turn up here—from known Zionists and apologists for Israel, with a neat Gentile twist on Holohoaxing.  I have been hoping that someone else would take that up, so that I can instead spend the time writing new blog posts; but I still need to cultivate the commentariat that the other bloggers here already have.  (The first time here that I wanted to see if anyone else would pick up on obvious, blatant propaganda aimed at destroying the taproot of Western culture, all that happened was that it got an “Agree” from someone who dislikes me—an alleged expert in antiquities, no less.)

  26. Why are Germans disliked to such a profound degree?

Quite simple the answer : Their “deutsche Besserwisserei”, their petulant German know-it-all attitude and their absurd perpetuation of the dumb-ass “Dichter und Denker” poets and thinkers mythology.

Germans always know everything better than everyone else and their own personal war against DT during the 2020 election which infact continues to this day is so fricking bizarre and twisted that no amount of contemplation thereof will lead to rational explanations.

I was in Germany with my German wife, a retired Gymasium teacher ( Gynasium in Germany has nothing to do with sports), just after the 2016 election, and I became involved in a coffee shop in conversation with an affluent German couple who informed me that a “guter Deutscher muss Domald Trump hassen” : A good German must hate DT. They provided me with no reason for this mental stance.

Regarding their “Dichter und Denker” self-definition : Fact is the few “Philosophen” and “Kuenstler” : Bach, Voltaire, Mozart, etc, who were mentored by the nobility did not spell out to title the entire illiterate peasant folk as thinkers and poets, so as they, in their teutonic illusions of grandeur view themselves to this day.

My first of three German wives, a so-call-“Von”, after a few months of courting told her mother at dinner one evening to “Zeig Ihm das Bild” : Finally show me the picture, and she, her mother pulled out a stack of black and white photos and handed me one with her uncle, a high ranking officer, standing directly next to AH.

Her uncle Lutz, had been an SS paratrooper who participated in the infamous invasion of Crete, as the “Vons” were avid supporters of the movement.

All in all, similar to why Russians and Chinese are hated.

Inter-tribal, national rivalries, increased by anglo world hegemony who finds every even hypothetical rival to be super duper triple double deluxe anathema, and triggers their sexual fetish for destroying countries.

Another is, the whole world order is based on the post-WW2 one, and since the Germans lost, they got the shitty end of the stick for the time being.

Yet another is the hatred the scrawny kid gets when not fighting back the bullies – really, Germans have been reduced to something pathetic for the american dick sucking, though luckily the Butthurt Belt is now taking this job from them, as well as the Brits, and you can see that they are becoming more uppity.

My personal opinion? Due to geographic and historical factors, an eternal mandatory rival. Where Germany is an important trade node due to it’s location as a giant 4-way crossroad, we are the main entry port, hence having an imperial power potential. The Americans gave their German satraps almost full economic control over the area, albeit it seems the trick now isn’t to catholicize and then slowly try to germanize as in the times of Austria(-Hungary) but to straight up slurp away the entire population as a replacement labor force more competent than the welfare scammers yet cheaper than the natives. On the other hand, the historical misgivings were mostly Austria’s fault, but we did manage to rather ridiculously end that whole thing with 2 bullets and too damn many deaths so it is what it is.

Anyways, if you ask me, it’s really not even useful to talk about it – as far as I’m concerned, the West is already dead, and the quicker this is accepted, the quicker something can be rebuilt. Hopefully less suicidal this time

His panic and need to engage me elsewhere is also telling. I pointed out something simple.

Most of the dislike aimed at Germany is recent.

There is little reason to believe that there is a great deal of animus still stemming from WWII and prior. And, even gave multiple examples of how Merkel’s behaviour had created enemies.

Alas, no response on point. I guess that Raches:
    — Sees that the German people love Merkel’s last decade of behaviour.
    — Will not admit that the current feelings against Germany, based on Merkel’s arrogance, are 100% understandable.

If Germany wants to win the hearts and minds of EU neighbors… It will have to start undoing the damage to Europe inflicted by Merkel.

Raches wants Europe to love SJW Merkel, rather than despise the Globalists. How that aligns to Nietzsche’s philosophy is hard to follow.

Yes, I don’t think there is any lingering dislike over WWII – and in general, I don’t think there is that much dislike of Germans today.

Perhaps Merckels policies created resentment, as you say.

But to return to his wider point, in fact starting in the late 18th century, after the aggressive Prussian state was formed, there was a general and widespread dislike of Germans in other European nations.

I used to read widely in the European literature of all kinds from that period, and dislike of Germans was common among French, English, Italian authors.

And the reasons given were simple – Germans lacked charm, grace, and good manners, they lacked tact and sensitivity, and were aggressive and in your face and did not adhere to European cultural norms for a cultured “gentleman”.

Things like strict Prussian discipline, Bismarck’s “blood and iron”, and the harsh, gutteral, and aggressive tones that you see in Hitler and Nazi officers but originated in the Prussian era, contrasted sharply with the suavity and polish and graceful manners cultivated by the French and the English.

Nietzsche was exasperated by what he called German boorishness. Many of the longstanding stereotypes of Germans were rooted in reality, although thankfully no longer so relevant today.

The Germans were not considered especially good looking – Goethe, when he crossed over into Italy, commented immediately on how much more attractive the average Italian was, and the general expectation at the time that the Italians were the handsome people of Europe.

Now, to be fair to the unfortunate Germans, they merely exhibited the typical and common unpleasant characteristics of a parvenu power that is trying to break down and into established centres of power.

Everyone in this situation acts the same. Suavity, polish, tact, culture, and good manners are the privilege of the established centres of power – these qualities will get you nowhere if you are on the outside trying to break in.

When Jews began assaulting the citadels of power and influence, people were saying the same things about how unpleasantly they acted. The Chinese today, in the same position as Germany in the 19th century, act the exact same – everyone is exasperated by Chinese boorishness, lack of tact and culture, pushiness, and aggression – yet traditional Chinese culture was renowned for it’s exquisite tact and good manners. The Japanese today are exquisitely polite – yet in WW2 they had a reputation for being tactless, overly aggressive, pushy, etc.

During the period stretching from the Prussians to WW2, the Germans took this kind of inappropriate aggressiveness to an extreme few other people’s did – the Nazi “atmosphere” of harshness and aggression did not emerge out of a vacuum.

But when the Germans were known as the land of poets and thinkers, no one hated them.

Then again, anyone bent on accumulating power has to exhibit nasty and unpleasant characteristics – as opposed to already possessing power and being secure in it, which generally leads to refinement, tact, and good manners.

A conquering army is a nasty thing, an established aristocracy may, over time, mellow out into a thing of beauty. The Germans during this period could not be beautiful.

As Nietzsche said, high culture is incompatible with the pursuit of power – and the Germans during this period were in the hot pursuit of power.

Then, finally, German life was and is focused on efficiency, hard work, sobriety. This made them rich and powerful – but this fun-killing attitude, in contrast to say the Italians, will not make you liked.

Anyways, none of this has to do with innate racial characteristics – people develop the qualities suited to the situation, the historical periods, etc, they find themselves in.- and change also according to a mysterious timetable that is not understood. But no nation remains the same over time.

Fascinatingly, before the 18th century Germans were known as unreliable, shiftless, and for shoddy workmanship – the opposite of their later reputation 🙂

Today, Germans are much more polished and fun, and on my travels, I notice Germans and Israelis get along particularly well 🙂

Israelis too, in the earlier period of the state, had a “German” reputation for tactless and blunt rudeness that was off putting – today, Israelis have become much more mellow and refined.

I guess one might say, anyone trying to acquire power must perforce develop unpleasant traits and will be widely disliked.

Acquiring power is not a nice and polite thing, and will not endear you to the rest of the world.

And Germany from the late 18th century to WWII, was in it’s ugly power hungry stage.

As Nietzsche said – one only has so much spiritual wealth at ones disposal. Waste it on power, and you will neglect culture and spirituality.

N was scathing in criticizing Germany for it’s prioritizing of power.

Even the excellent German university system of the era, was focused on the hard sciences – building up power.

Of course, the picture is never absolute, and Germany also produced great cultural figures from this period too – Schopenhauer, Wagner, etc. But N saw these as the last of a dying breed.

Since the fall of the West Roman Empire in the late 5th century it has been the Germanics which have dominated Europe, taking the place of the Latins, Celts, and Greeks before them. The primary population center of Germanics in Europe has historically been present day Germany proper, thus constituting continental Europe’s center of power.

Both Capitalist (US/UK) and Communist (Soviet Union) geo-political writings described Germany that way.

If one had dreams of a truly global empire, you’d naturally want to take control of Germany for yourself as a stepping stone for the obtainment of total world power.

Relatedly, an excerpt from pg 105 of the 1853 US book The New Rome (linked below) describes how a future US/UK united front (the ‘Anglo-Saxon empire’) will unleash a ‘world’s war’ upon the Earth when they make their move to conquer and gain control of Germany.

This was published over sixty years before the start of WWI.

‘That great uprising of all peoples, that world’s war’ which is for ever seen to hang, like the sword of Damocles, over the passing joys and troubles of the hour, will fall when the Anglo-Saxon empire shall lay its slow but unyielding grasp upon the countries of the Germanic confederation.’

The New Rome describes a truly global Roman Empire that is led by the US/UK.

Talking about stuff like this is messy, however, and might confuse people as to the actual reasons why the two world wars against Germany had to be fought.

It’s a whole lot easier to demonize, demonize, demonize.

France, and the world, would have been much better off with a quick collapse and negotiated settlement early in the course of the Great War. So, in this case competent military leadership turned out to be the worst thing that could have happened. 37. Tom Verso says:
    @Raches

In your ‘study’ of the Germany in the 20th century, I wonder if you consider the propensity of the German people for ‘self-destruction’.

For example, after the disaster of WWI; one would think that avoiding a two front war again against the very same nations would be the absolute highest priority.

    Nevertheless, they did it again.

Further, reading the military history of the WW II ‘Eastern Front’, I time and again put down the book and perplex on what seems like shear irrationality.

For example, on the road to Stalingrad, months before the actual combat, the German soldiers were eating their own horses for lack to logistical system to supply them.

So you. know like maybe we should not go to Stalingrad until we have our logistics in place?

Those logistics time and again failed. When German soldiers were freezing on the road to Moscow, winter clothes were in Warsaw with no means to get them to the front.

One can go on and on with examples of facts that clearly indicate the German was doomed from day one of the War, and yet acting the role of a Greek Tragic hero, they could not stop themselves from going to their doom.

In short, one cannot ignore the hypothesis that the German people like Greek tragic heros are magnificent and superior to their contemporaries.

But, have a tragic flaw with a self-destructive destiny

Germans are legitimately and understandably hated today because of their modern (EU Era) misbehaviour.

If Merkel was an ‘enemy of the people’ like Barack Hussein or Not-The-President Biden, one could make a case for not blaming the German people based on Merkel’s transgressions. However, Merkel was a highly popular, long lasting Chancellor. And, in a multi party system, there were always valid credible alternatives to vote against her.

As you know, I’m a Zionist and supporter of Israel, and knowing the situation I understand the security measures Israel takes against the Palestinians are necessary and save lives on both sides.

However, I really do feel sorry for the Palestinians who in the past had to deal with the “old Israeli character”, blunt, rude, tactless, pushy, insensitive – the behavior of a people who are in a fight, and have no time for such niceties.

And while I enjoy that blunt Israeli style in small doses, it can be quite grating if exposed to it for too long – especially if you’re on the hostile side of it.

“Freedom of Movement” within the EU has been Great for Corporations, bad for recipient nations, very harsh on donor nations, and Savage against Workers. There are so many things fundamentally wrong with the EU, I do not see any practical path to save it.

The best move would be to negotiate a new, much loser, primarily economic treaty that excludes social and relocation matters. This would return all nations to their sovereign currencies. The EU would meet a graceful end before going splat in some catastrophic manner.

If you’d like, I can produce many passages where Nietzsche decries the desire for political power, claims it is incompatible with high culture – he says the moment the Prussians won the war, all esprit and high culture migrated to Paris – attacks the Germans for wanting political power, and says power makes stupid.

Obviously Nietzsche promoted the will to power – but he thought physical, political power to be one of the lowest forms of power there are. “Higher” forms of power were not political.

However, N did not simplistically praise or condemn anything – he analyzed things from every angle. Desire for political power at a particular stage of national evolution, even if a lower form of power, may suggest that that nation will be capable of developing into higher forms of power later. That’s why it’s so important to read him in context.

But political power per se – power over physical things or other people – Nietzsche did not at all think was the highest form of power. On the contrary – desire for such things generally indicates a weak people on a low level of development.

Sometimes, Nietzsche said the highest power was power over “oneself”, which would place him in line with most world religions and moralists.

At one point, Nietzsche says the “powerful man” maybe bury himself in his garden and live a life of utter obscurity, whereas the celebrated public hero may really be a weak man.

But the fact is that Nietzsche often spoke in confusing ways about power, and often in crude simplistic terms. He did not develop his theory of power in a systematic way, and many things he said about power were troubling and tended to promote a crude notion of physical power.

Overall, if you examine his total attitude to power, at it’s best and most sophisticated you get the impression that it is a spiritual state with lose affinities with Mahayana Buddhist Nirvana and the Tao – a state where you feel yourself to be utterly complete and satisfied, at one with the world, lacking nothing, with no sense of inadequacy. A state of “fullness”

I think Nietzsche was groping towards some such notion – and it is a shame he lived before knowledge of he Mahayana or Taoism was widespread in Europe!

Had Nietzsche not went insane, I believe he would have abandoned his notion of “more power” and developed a train of thought more in line with mysticism sense that we are already full, total, and complete – and must only realize it. This was the clear tendency of much of his best thought.

He was insightful and noble enough for this 🙂

Look, I’m not defending T Laxa. I’ve had my own deeply negative encounters with her – I regard her as a deeply fake and insincere person whose main desire is not to discuss interesting ideas but to gain “dominance” over anyone she’s talking to – and uses a bunch of cheap psychological tricks for that purpose.

In other words, a weak, deeply insecure, deeply unhappy person who is unfortunately one of the few people here who I regretfully see no point in talking to – and I gladly talk to almost anyone on this site, however abhorrent I find their ideas 🙂 I even talk to you 🙂

And I will completely admit that you are confident and secure enough to post comments who disagree with you.- you are far from the worst offender here. Some of the anti-Zionist columnists here censor my comments more heavily than you do.

However, it is my belief that short of someone spamming a thread in ways that make conversation technically impossible, so that banning is a mere technical issue – banning on principle betrays weakness.

It’s the basic principle that the more things you can bear without minding it, the more secure you are. The more you must defend against someone, the weaker you are – the less things are a threat to you, the stronger.

But then, you proudly proclaim yourself an authoritarian – and in my view, an authoritarian – the need to control, based on the perception of many things as a threat – is a basically weak and insecure person.

All desire to control is based on fear and weakness – in my view.

Of course, you obviously disagree, and you have every right to do so – I hold out hope that you may mature and see beyond your current beliefs 🙂

Like Nietzsche, I don’t engage in simplistic condemnation, but try and see that however deplorable now, it may be a stage in ones development, or may indicate a better development in the future 🙂

If you can recover the specifics, it would be interesting to know more.

Unfortunately, concerning this Democracy, or Representative government, it is filled with too many crooks and charlatans, that use public service as a means to enrich themselves while they ignore their duties to the public. For most of them, me is their only concern. There is never any single entity that takes responsibility, no matter how egregious the crime. Nor is there anyone in government with the will to call them out. But thanks for your perceptive article on Germans in general. The truth is, these people have been through so much crap, doesn’t really matter the reason, that they often appear jaded and it’s taken for arrogance. I know Germans well, I’ve been around them my whole life. When you break through the veneer, you find essentially rational people who just take reality for how it is. That was Linh Dinh.  I criticized Mr. Dinh when he ran away, then again when he returned.  Since then, I have not been following his column (as I usually don’t).  This happened a few days before I started my blog.

I obviously cannot speak for Mr. Unz; and I do not wish improperly to speculate or opine on the dealings between him and another author, which are none of my business.

For my part, I made it clear from the beginning that this is an authoritarian blog.  I exercise that authority very little, for reasons that I have essentially stated:  (1) Most of my critics just show themselves for fools, or reveal various agendas, and (2) I would prefer to engage with the ones who don’t, as time permits.  I actually need to do less of that, so that I make more posts.  I have been experimenting with various ways of handling discussions here, for my part. ®

What was N’s take on stoicism?

Quick answer, Beyond Good and Evil 11:

You desire to live “according to Nature”?  Oh, you noble Stoics, what fraud of words!  […criticism…] …you extraordinary stage-players and self-deluders!  In your pride you wish to dictate your morals and ideals to Nature, to Nature herself, and to incorporate them therein; you insist that it shall be Nature “according to the Stoa,” and would like everything to be made after your own image, as a vast, eternal glorification and generalism of Stoicism!  With all your love for truth, you have forced yourselves so long, so persistently, and with such hypnotic rigidity to see Nature falsely, that is to say, Stoically, that you are no longer able to see it otherwise—[more criticism…]

I agree.  (And about Stoicism (not Nietzsche), among other things, see also Liberty Bell, February 1994, the appendix at pp. 35–43:  More agreed.) ®

Nietzsche was against political power. If you’d like, I can produce many passages where Nietzsche decries the desire for political power, claims it is incompatible with high culture –

So could I.  I could also produce passages to the contrary.  Several of your comments seem to decry simplemindedness, but your view of this is exactly that.

(I say that separately from my argument that Nietzsche was wrong about Bismarck, German nationalism, etc., plus what I call his hyperindividualism.)

Sometimes, Nietzsche said the highest power was power over “oneself”, which would place him in line with most world religions and moralists.

Where did you see that?  Wikipravda or Stackexchange?  I think that I saw the same thing there.

Of course, Nietzsche urged what could be called power over the self.  But the whole concept of the will-to-power is that a healthy organism must expend energy—not conserve, but expend; it is the sick who seek to conserve energy—and to expend energy, one needs resistance.  He defined “power” as the feeling that resistance is overcome, and equated that with happiness.  —And of course, this does not necessarily mean resistance from other people—but in the abstract, it doesn’t necessarily exclude that, either.  Why do you suppose that Nietzsche wrote so much about warriors, war, and classical antiquity?

Also, nothing that he said or did would place him “in line with most world religions and moralists”.  See, e.g., well—The Genealogy of Morals, the whole book!—and also, the section titled “The Improvers of Mankind” in Twilight of the Idols, which I will probably quote at some length in a blog post one of these days.

Had Nietzsche not went [sic] insane,

I need to note this everywhere:  Nietzsche’s insanity was caused by drugs, which he took for medical reasons.  Painkillers and sleep aids.  He lived in chronic agony—sometimes totally debilitated for upwards of 200 days per year, and doing his work on the other days.  Then, one day, he blew his mind away with an overdose, and never recovered.

    Don’t do drugs!

Hardship is the best teacher.  “From life’s school of war…” Those with the hardest view of life have often suffered the most, and chosen strength over succumbing to weakness.  I most respect Nietzsche because he could have cried out for the milk of warmhearted Christian pity, but he did the opposite.

I believe he would have abandoned his notion of “more power” and developed a train of thought more in line with mysticism sense that we are already full, total, and complete – and must only realize it. This was the clear tendency of much of his best thought.

Patent nonsense.  You are committing the mortal sin of attempting to Christianize Nietzsche.  I have hammered this down before.  Cf. Professor Oliver’s remarks that Nietzsche had such powerful ideas, the only way to stop his ideas is to distort them.  If Nietzsche is filtered through Christian cultural residues, the result is—not Nietzsche. ®

I want to ban emojis.  Awhile ago, I sat down to write an efficient anti-emoji filter.  Thereupon, I realized that the Unicode Consortium did not make it trivial as one would expect to identify a character as an emoji.  If I were to be Germanly unlazy, and thus expend the small but irritating effort required to code a correct, reliable, efficient anti-emoji filter with neither false positives nor false negatives—I wonder if Mr. Unz would be willing to integrate that here.

Autobanning emojis (and the creatures that use them) would greatly raise the quality of discussion; and nothing of value would be lost, except for some satire which would work almost as well without the emojis.  Most importantly, banning emojis would help to protect innocent youths from being corrupted and degraded into bird-brained, twittering illiteracy.

On the other hand, young women are often addicted to emojis; and I would not want to discourage them, since they may have other fine qualities.  Females should arguably have the prerogative of using emojis, in very limited quantities.

If I could somehow autoban (and eugenically sterilize) all males who unironically, non-satirically use emojis, that would be best—unless I could electrocute them, BOFH-style; that would be even better!  Alas, it seems to be beyond the limits of currently available technology.

For science and technology blogging, one of the subjects that I intend to cover is stupidity in Unicode.  Also, correct ways of handling UTF-8.  I should get to that eventually.

Well, yes and no. I do not accuse Nietzsche of being a Christian according to his understanding of the term.

But I think Nietzsche misunderstood Christianity in the most basic way.

The Christian message “in weakness is strength”, can come from a mentality of complete and total power, not weakness.

If one is part of God in the sense of “theosis” – the All – one no longer feels any sense of inadequacy or lack. The desire for power vanishes – one is already, metaphysically, as powerful as is possible. One is Everything – there is no greater than that.

Similarly, the Hindu notion of “tat tvam asi” expresses the same notion – when one is Atman, what need is there to seek power? One already has all power, metaphysically speaking.

“Turning the other cheek”, from this perspective, is the opposite of weakness – you are so strong, no enemy can truly hurt you. Only someone weak enough to be harmed needs to fight back, to defend. Someone who cannot truly be hurt, can love his enemies.

Of course, this is Christianity at its best – as represented by the mystics, and certain sayings of Jesus and St Paul.

As for Nietzsche, as I said he did not develop his “theory of power” in a systematic way, and many of his remarks about power suggest an implicit recognition that seeking power is itself weakness.

For instance, if iirc in Human, All Too Human Nietzsche remarks that to seek power is to admit a deficiency and a lack, and only the weak seek power (one seeks what one does not have). The strong are satisfied. Similarly, Zen says one should not “seek”, and recognize that one is already perfect, because you are the Whole (your sense of a seperate self is an illusion).

In the same book I believe, he remarks that the “powerful man” may be found buried in his garden, while the “public hero” may well be a weak man operating out of a profound sense of lack.

Many more remarks in this vein, such that the highest artists create out of an “overflowing sense of fullness”, and not out of need.

Of course, Nietzsche also talked about power being about “expansion” and “overcoming” and the like, as you say. As I said, he did not develop a final, coherent philosophy of power before he died.

The idea of “expansion” clearly rests on the idea that one is not already perfect just as one is. One must “grow”, one is lacking, one is inadequate. One is weak.

To my mind, Nietzsche could not consistently sustain his insight that desire for power is itself weakness – but that insight represents his best thoughts on the subject, in my view, and had he lived longer, I think he had it in him to perhaps arrive at the insights of Zen, Mahayana, and esoteric core Christianity.

Yes, we have a profound philosophical difference here.

Feeling that my seperate self is an illusion, and I am really All – my self is the rivers and the mountains, as Zen says – I have nothing to accomplish, nowhere to get to, and no need to “grow”.

Therefore, my approach to life is fundamentally frivolous and unserious – life is a game 🙂

I use emojis to indicate unseriousness, that I do not take myself seriously, and have no “dignity” I must defend 🙂

When my sentences are too sober, rational, and serious, I start laughing at myself – and nothing better than a silly emoji to puncture the absurd “dignity” that was on danger of developing 🙂

Operating from a metaphysical sense of lack and inadequacy, you strive hard to be a very “serious” person concerned with being “superior” and maintaining your “dignity” – I can see why frivolous “emotion” is not your cup of tea.

That is understandable – if I had your metaphysics, I would absolutely feel likewise.

I suppose we will just have to disagree on this, and we’ll both just have to operate out of our different metaphysics and intuitions about life.

As always, from some angles he liked it and from others he criticized it.

There is a passage where he he describes the Romans having all been Stoics and Epicureans, and that this was a great basis from which to develop into an even higher culture, and he laments that Christianity derailed this.

On the other hand, Nietzsche was fundamentally a philosopher of “progress” and of humans developing into something superior – so merely “accepting” nature, was not something he would have favored. Man was to transcend nature – the “given”. The basic attitude of all Faustian Western culture (in my view, the fundamental Western mistake, based on an error in metaphysics).

From a third perspective, he felt Stoicism was too dry and rational, and not inspiring and enthusiastic enough. Goethe could not stand Stoicism from this point of view.

Overall, he had a lot of respect for if, but did not think it was any kind of end point – but that is true of nearly everything he analyzed.

The British never wanted war with Hitler.  All Hitler had to do was build his empire somewhere else and not attack Poland.  They would have happily given him India or let him take most of Africa. Or he could have attacked the Soviets first.

The first quoted sentence is flatly wrong, inasmuch as a significant faction of the British government and ruling class was actively pushing for war; they came to dominate over the faction pushing for peace; and after the war began, they rebuffed all of Hitler’s overtures for negotiating peace.  (Applying simple logic to Britain’s one-sided, unconditional guarantee of Poland’s western border only should set you thinking in the right direction…)  But set that aside.

Eisenhower, Churchill, and de Gaulle wrote very extensive works describing their memories of World War II. “In this mass of writing, which altogether totals 7,061 pages (not including the introductory parts), published from 1948 to 1959, one will find no mention either of Nazi “gas chambers,” a “genocide” of the Jews, or of “six million” Jewish victims of the war”.

Jews & hyanas killed 20 million Germans and raped and displaced another 20 million Germans alone in their Second Jewish World War. Out of 80 plus million GDR passportholder maybe 20 – 40 million are still Germans. The majority are no longer pure Germans. Thank you Jewmerica. You did a great job. Your father, the devil, must be very pleased with you.

Those Chandalas were not outcastes and uncultured primitive people, nor were the Indian “Aryans” the equals of Germans and Japanese Mr Raches imagines them to be. In India, situation is reversed very much – he will be surprised to see the real conditions of the “Aryan” and “Chandala” lands in India.

As it happens you are describing Icelanders as well as Germans. Over here support for Trump was almost nil, support for G.W.Bush was very low, for Obama probably over 90%. For Biden high as well. Sure, few hardy right wingers supported Trump, but that was almost entirely based on his anti-immigration stance.

    The reason?
It’s simple, our local media relies on few international news distributors, Reuters, AFP, etc. Meaning when it comes to news from America, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times and Washington Post are the sources. This goes back many decades. Come to think of it, where is the American right or conservatives in the international press?

So basically, Icelanders who think they are following American politics don’t know much about it. And hardly anything about the underlying issues that pushed Trump to the presidency after living in this echo chamber for decades.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the situation in many European countries is similar. In Germany, I don’t know.

If that somehow got disconnected from Authenticjazzman’s anti-“Kraut” hate-rant, there are a few things that I should explain—briefly for now, just as a collection of little notes.  (Maybe more later.)

    (1) He is behaving exactly like a Yankee “carpetbagger” bragging about all the good the North did with “Reconstruction” for benighted Southern rednecks.  There are many reasons why I so oft draw this parallel…  His lumping of “slavery, Jim Crow, KKK” with a list of bad things is quite revealing.

    (2) Besides exactly fitting the worst American stereotypes of empty conceits and cheap jingoism, which make so many around the world despise American tourists (never mind military occupiers!), he is throwing an anti-“Kraut” tantrum here because my “20. Juli” comment, which I had intended to be my finale, took him to task for his anti-German hatred.

    (3) His brain is incapable of comprehending that he is a part of the problem.  The Germans were doing just fine before their country was conquered by foreign enemies—“Denazification”—also called “German Reconstruction”—and more—brainwashing at gunpoint by American gangsters.  Authenticjazzman boasts of all his time as an alien enemy on German soil—one of the enforcers of the overall American program, which has caused the results for which he condemns those stupid Krauts.

    (4) Item #3, plus his mediocre writing style, make questionable at best his claim of being “‘Mensa’ qualified”.  I have seen Southern working-class people with high-school educations who write with much more eloquence than he does, and have a far superior grasp of (a) history, and (b) simple logic.  —Which brings me to:

    (5) “Mensa” is a “high IQ” organization.  Of course, “high” is relative.  Its membership requirement is approximately at the 98th percentile.  It is amusing to see him brag about that (alleged) status on my blog, of all places.  Even if he is telling the truth, he is undoubtedly at the low end of the Mensa range; thus, my IQ farther exceeds his than his beats median natives of Nigeria.  (I won’t say what mine is, because I think it’s gauche to brag about—and because Ron Unz would laugh at me; his is significantly higher.)

    (6) His worldview is clearly based on U.S. partisan politics—on the false dilemma of “Republicans” and “Democrats”.  The deeper impact of this is difficult for Europeans to understand—just as it is difficult for Americans to see the undercurrents of European parliamentary politics.

    (7) I think it’s salutary that on a thread about hatred against Germans, “Authenticjazzman” shows the world what kind of hatred the Germans live under—from what, outside the fantasy of American propaganda, is unavoidably de facto a hostile foreign military occupation.

Extra credit debit: “Authenticjazzman” likes jazz.  See the conclusion of my “20. Juli” comment. ®

I see the Germans as being boorish mainly because, as far as united countries in Europe go, they were the last to unite. They were young and inexperienced in the duplicity that marks an old settled country such as perfidious Albion.
Germany, the teenager, was not about to be polite. Being a polite kid had not gotten them anything in the past and so they were going to bray at the moon if they so desired, perhaps throw beer bottles out the car window. They grew up last of the large European countries and became a united country last.

Encyclopedia Britannica describes the Peace of Westphalia(1638) as forcing the Germans to remain divided and weak:”The Peace of Westphalia brought territorial gains to Sweden and France, awarded an electoral seat to Bavaria, and secured for Protestant rulers the church properties they had confiscated, based on the status quo of 1624. More important, it brought Calvinists into the religious settlement and established the independence of the Netherlands from Spain and of Switzerland from the empire. Most significant of all, it guaranteed the nearly unlimited territorial sovereignty of German princes, bringing to an end the last effort (until the 19th century) to centralize power in the empire. In this way the Peace of Westphalia sealed the fragmentation of the Holy Roman Empire into hundreds of autonomous political entities, most of them small.”

So being a teenager they were unaware you could be a little bit racist as long as you did not go around shouting about it. Better to sing the song from the musical ‘Avenue Q’… “Everybody’s a little racist” than bray about Übermensch and Untermensch.

Germany the teenager was cheated and more importantly…humiliated by WW1 so they were coming back with the anger and vengeance of the dissed. Also don’t forget Hans and Franz were five years old in 1919 when the Allies starved them into accepting the Guilt clause. These same Hans and Franz were 25 and probably in the SS in 1939.
They did not recall the ‘Civilized world?’ as caring much about them in 1919.

Both. And often both for the wrong reasons. – To be loved for an imposed self-destruction and to be hated for trying to prevent this world order for example.

You would be hard pressed to find any hate speech against modern Germans.

Is this a joke? How about OP-eds in Israel suggesting, they should NUKE Iran and Germany. https://www.timesofisrael.com/op-ed-calls-on-israel-to-nuke-germany-iran/

Even leftist historians go to great lengths to differentiate the Nazis and modern Germans.

Blatantly false. If anything is the consensus today, it is the standard which particularly Daniel Goldhagen, but also György Lukács or Theodor Wiesengrund-Adorno and other members of the Frankfurt School set: to racially categorize and vilify the entire German race, for past, present and future. And to quote what Ben Gurion said to Konrad Adenauer when he was in Israel, that we “the Germans will be guilty forever, no matter what they do“. Or to quote Martin van Creveld: “The Germans have nailed themselves to the cross. And they will keep on hanging as long as human memory persists.”

The misfortune that the Anglosphere has, is, that the rhetoric of extermination which was weaponized by American and British warfare propaganda and “reconstruction” of Germany also under the auspices of Js has turned into what you now call anti-whiteness. And it couldn’t have happened to nicer states. But be glad: no one has drafter Morgenthau, Hooton and Kaufman plans yet. Or discussed black on white the extermination of the entire German race like Nizer and his mutuals did.

And if you even dare to complain about it, you risk your freedom…

As an Austrian you KNOW that Austrians are Germans. At the end of the war, the U.S. bully, along with the British, encouraged the “Austrians” to divorce from their oneness with Germans, and claim they were the VICTIMS of Germany … forcibly invaded and occupied rather than the truth that they had yearned to become part of Greater Germany since the St. Germaine Treaty following the Great War forbade them to. Since, at that time, it was better to be a victim of German aggression than a perpetrator, little, battered Austria went along with it. I can’t blame them though I wish they hadn’t.

More BS. Sorry to use crude language, but such off-the-mark, ignorant statements from a self-styled “genius-who-knows-everything-about-everything” does bring out frustration in one who recognizes the situation as it actually is.

The truth is Germany has never pushed it’s ethos on others, but when asked by those others to pay the other’s (already lesser) share of a common undertaking because the other refuses to live within their means, due to their preference for a ” more fun & light-hearted lifestyle” that makes them SO LIKEABLE to the rest, unlike the dour, no-fun Germans —– well, then I am 100% on the German’s side, and I’m glad when they stick to their guns and their responsible character which the rest of Europe RELIES ON, but will never admit to.

I would be more than happy if the EU broke up and Germany took its place as the unapologetic leading nation in Europe, but the trouble with that is that the rest of the states gang up on Germany to force it to SERVE THEM and bail them out, time and again. The problem is in the laziness (they demand the welfare state) and short-sightedness of the very diverse Europeans who cannot, should not, be lumped together as one people. Each is too developed in their own history to be One People. Reality, or Life, does not care if this dooms us in today’s high-speed, consolidated world. But don’t blame the German character.

Do you have proof of this? Because we have ample proof that Jews, in fact, “starved them off” in the Ukraine.

The British never wanted war with Hitler.

The British, French, and Americans did everything possible to create WW2. The British and French declared war on Germany, and invaded prior to the Phony War (albeit not making much progress). Poland was nothing more than the most convenient excuse laying about. There was no British declaration of war against the Soviets for their role in Poland.

The general American High School explanation that Hitler wanted to take over the world is absurd. The English and French had already taken over the world.

Before this thread gets closed and disappears down the Unz Review memory hole I would like to thank Raches and many of the fascinating commenters who contributed to the thread.

I do find some truth in what “Authenticjazzman” writes about Germans, but I would just like to comment on the role that American Jazz music and American Forces Network (AFN) played in the post war demoralization of Germans and Germany.

Just as France sent negro colonial troops into the occupied Rhineland to deliberately race mix with Germans in 1919, so did Eisenhower deliberately send American negro troops into Berlin to race mix with Germans in 1945. Of course the Kalergian race mixers operating under Roosevelt/Truman/Eisenhower would have wanted to incite German women to have intercourse with negro occupation troops. I believe that at some point there were 50,000 negro troops in Berlin alone. Some of these black troops were certainly also Jazz musicians. AFN from its inception was broadcasting this miscegenation music all across the US zone, with the intent promoting rcultural degradation and race mixing. AFN is still pushing its race mixing across Germany and much of Europe today. Of course, Jazz is likely seldom played, and the “radio waves” are certainly dominated with hypersexualized jungle thug music like Rap and Hip Hop.

So we can be certain that “Authenticjazzman” has contributed in no small degree to the demoralization of Germany, and all of western Europe.

The race mixing that “Authenticjazzman” promotes, wittingly, or unwittingly, continues in full force today. Everywhere one looks in the US, and in Europe, one is bombarded with billboards, newspaper advertisements and TV commercials pushing race mixing in the most pornographic and blatantly explicit manner. This is his legacy too. As is the cruder, unavoidable, and more pornographic gangster rap negro music style that shares the same ((origins)) as his beloved Jizz music.

One thing Germans are famous for, across all of Europe, and likely the entire planet to a lesser degree, is how when staying at a resort, or on a cruise ship, they get out of bed early and then place their towels on the best positioned lawn chairs near the pool, lake, or ocean, in order to monopolize it for their own use for the entire day. This well known penchant for looking out for themselves to the disadvantage of others manifests itself in a myriad of ways in their daily activities, as I am sure Europeans of other nationalities can attest to. I will provide a few examples.

I have worked with many Germans on large IT projects. I can personally attest to the fact that the vast majority were outstanding programmers, but the problem with the Germans was always their hoarding of knowledge and their propensity to hog the interesting and challenging tasks while shunning the more mundane, but nevertheless necessary work. Of course most programmers are primadonnas, but Germans seem to excel at it more than most other nationalities. As an aside I will state that Australians are always my favorite team members, and I have never been to Australia.

I know for a fact that in two homeowner associations that I have been involved in, it is always the Germans who refuse to pay their share of any unexpected or additional costs, and who are often chronically late in paying their regular dues. In a community street association I am a member of, two Germans never pay, and legally block and resist any attempt to force payment. They are well aware that the legal costs of extracting their fair share from their pocketbook far exceed the amount that they owe. In short, they are shameless freeloaders. Carolyn Yeager once here at UR tried to tell me that this was not a bug, but a great feature of the German personality.

This observation of mine was recently confirmed by a Swiss Real Estate lawyer I am working with. When we were discussing one specific German who was refusing to pay his dues, he confided to me that in the vast majority of cases he deals with concerning non-payment for real estate dues, the defendant is German.

Another type of behavior unique to the German is his driving attitude, especially when behind the wheel of large, powerful BMW, Porsche or Mercedes Benz. This well known arrogant, reckless and selfish behavior carries over into small mountain roads. When you are driving on a stretch of narrow road only wide enough for one car, the license plate you dread seeing the most coming the other way is a “D”. Germans simply will not yield, even if you have the right of way heading up hill, even if you have a trailer, even if you are on old lady pushing a hand cart.

I have lived 3 years in Frankfurt while working there, and have spend the last 35 years living in countries bordering Germany, so I do know a little about what I speak. I also speak fluent German, and overall I am very sympathetic, even nostalgic, to Germans and Germany. I honestly can say that I am very disappointed in what Germans have become, considering their great and honorable forefathers. It is my opinion that the best Germans died fighting during the two wars, or in the Allied blood lust afterwards, and that much, if not most, of the best Germanic traits have been bred and socially programmed out of the German people.

I must state, from my own personal experience, that just about the only thing I would want to hear even less than “You have a new German neighbor”, would be “You have a new African neighbor”.

Just as France sent negro colonial troops into the occupied Rhineland to deliberately race mix with Germans in 1919, so did Eisenhower deliberately send American negro troops into Berlin to race mix with Germans in 1945.

The same was done after the Civil War to the US South by the United States during ‘Reconstruction’ (1865-1877). And while humiliation is no doubt a part of it, the biggest portion of the reason for this is indeed race mixing, which the so called ‘progressive’ sorts have long been utterly obsessed with. [For other of the numerous close parallels between the Southern Confederacy’s 1861-65 war with the Capitalist United States and National Socialist Germany’s 1941-45 war with the Communist Soviet Union, see the comments link below.]

When a person examines the late 18th and early 19th century origins of the Anglosphere’s ‘progressive’ ideology of ‘Multi-culturalism’ and it’s economic and political basis, wage slavery, ie specifically the so called ‘cheap labor’/’mass immigration’ system, you find chattel slavery and it’s trade as it’s unholy template, the ‘immigrant’, from a financial point of view, being the slave, for whatever period of time (days, weeks, months, years) he or she is paid significantly below what was, or, what would of been, the prevailing real time local costs of labor, without the immigration taking place, or, the ‘immigrant’ being present.

To sum it up, in a veritable revolution in the world of slavery, chattel slavery and its trade was monetized, ie distilled down to it’s financial essence whilst profits were maximized, with the introduction of wage slavery (ie so called ‘cheap labor’) under cover of the progressive abolition movement near the dawn of the 19th century.

With this ‘just in time’ slavery of wage slavery (ie ‘cheap labor’), virtually every last negative that the slave dealer (now ‘labor contractor’) and slave owner (now hirer of ‘cheap labor’/’immigrants’) had to deal with has been safely ‘outsourced’ (ie dumped upon) the general non-exploiting public to pay for and deal with, ie you and me, the vast majority, while they are systematically stealing far more labor than ever before by simply paying the imported often desperate immigrant far below the prevailing real time local rates for the labor.

The historic slavers play act that they are now the good guy, when in reality they are every bit as rotten in spirit and soul as they were before, if not more so.

Not surprisingly then, when a person reads about ‘cheap labor’ in 19th century sources, closer to the time period of chattel slavery itself and the transition to wage slavery, the modern ‘cheap labor’/’mass immigration’ system’s chattel slave origins become much clearer.

An example linked below is a reprint of an 1851 London Times editorial (upper left corner of the linked page) which extols the wonders of the Irish cheap labor coming to the United States at the time by the hundreds of thousands annually while simultaneously describing the US textile factory magnate/US ambassador to the UK Abbott Lawrence’s* visit to Ireland. The editorial casually describes the new Irish which will ‘take the place’ of the Irish people in Ireland, as being ‘more mixed’, ‘more docile’, and, ‘which can submit to a master’.

With all due respect, within the context of the editorial, the unflattering description of the new Irish as a slave population was a reference to the people of Northern Ireland today, the descendants of the historic Plantation, which I think shows the utter contempt the progressives in reality hold towards immigrants and the resulting ‘mixed’ populations, ie, they see them as slaves.

Another example (also linked below) from pg 514 -515 of the 1871 book One Hundred Years Progress of the United States. The excerpt describes the Chinese wage slaves expected by the progressives of that time to soon be imported into the United States by the tens of millions doing, (not coincidentally) the exact same work the chattel slaves had been doing:

‘The Chinese will come to us, mainly, like some of the European immigrants, as candidates for filling our more menial positions; they will be house-servants, washermen, rail-road laborers, miners, laborers in the field, &c.’

The same page describes the future American man of 1970 to be a ‘composite’ of all of humanity as a direct result of all this wage slave (ie ‘cheap labor’) enmasse predation and importation of ‘immigrants’ into the US.

And what of the fate of this progressive Anglo-Saxon writer’s own unmixed Anglo-Saxon remnant people in the future year 1970? They will be routinely murdered in acts of ultra-violence (knife crime in particular) on the streets of the destroyed future inner cities of the United States by the disgarded, angry, and often drug addicted descendants of the wage slave ‘immigrants’. The sociopathic progressive writer obviously doesn’t care about their predicted fate. He has his wage slave immigrants to ‘care’ about, or, more specifically, the value of the labor he is systematically stealing from them

People correctly intuit the deeply rooted historic ties between chattel slavery and its trade and ‘progressivism’ when they speak of the liberal/progressive ‘plantation’. They just don’t grasp how deep the rabbit hole goes in that regard.

    * This is the same Abbot Lawrence whom financed the mid-19th century construction of ‘Lawrence ‘Immigrant City’, Massachusetts. This same family would also finance the construction of the infamous abolition center of Lawrence, Kansas. Not coincidentally, the progressive presidential candidate, Susan Warren, would launch her 2020 presidential bid from Lawrence, Mass.

    Boldface is in the original:

Any writer who feels compelled to read the comments has a personal problem. Many fine writers never interact with their readers.

    (1) Since I am the moderator on Proems, I am compelled to read the comments as a part of my duty to The Unz Review.  I perform that duty assiduously.  I am still gaining experience, trying different ways to handle this; sometimes, as now, l get backlogged when there are long comments piling up, and I need to choose where to focus my attention.  I’ll get the hang of it, as I quietly try out different workflows here.

    (2) Different authors have different motivations.  Some do it for the money.  Some do it for art.  Some are ideologically motivated.  Some do it because they want a dialogue with others.  And so forth; many potential motives are not mutually exclusive.  Moreover, some have well-established careers, fame, and far more reader attention than they could reciprocate even if they wanted to—and various factors can change over time.  Some authors died long ago, and obviously never interact with their readers today—even if they did in some fashion, when they were alive.

    (3) I myself started as a commentator here; I am very much accustomed to engaging with others in the comments.  Now, I have been experimenting with a few ways to handle comments.  I started with the “Letters to the Editor” model.  I then made an unannounced switch to treating this as my own forum, where only I can create new topics.  I have had some excellent interactions with readers whom I dearly appreciate.  That said, I know that I will need to back off on commenting on my own blog, if I ever want to write more blog posts.

I am replying here, because this comment should be attached to “Bin Bark’s”; and I do not have the ability to move comments between threads.  Please direct replies as letters to the editor. ®

Well, there is one point where I can most agree with you.  It is much reflected in the above article.

In my experience, Germans are excruciatingly polite.  They can be aggressive when challenged, but that’s only healthy; and they used to be much moreso, before the Americans culturally castrated them with “German Reconstruction”.  However, Germans do stereotypically have a no-nonsense attitude.  Have you considered the possibility that at least some of your complaints rise from your behavior, and you interpret others’ reactions with the same astounding insight as you apply to art and poetry? ®
