It is too early to say when or even whether the siege initiated by the coronavirus will end, but many Americans and Europeans are speculating over what kind of countries will emerge on the other side. National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden, who exposed illegal spying on American citizens, recently predicted that there would be a “slide into a less liberal and less free world,” that the surveillance systems being created to monitor the spread of the disease would become an “architecture of oppression.” To be sure he has a point in that governments have historically used crises to expand their powers. After the crisis is over, the emergency power granted to manage the activity of the people tends to be retained.

Much depends on the lessons learned from what is being done to contain the virus currently. If testing and “keep your distance” does not succeed in checking the spread of the disease and restoring a version of what once was normal life, harsher and more permanent measures might prevail. Alexander Dugin foresees a “military-medical” dictatorship developing.

The rapid spread of the virus has also spawned some unusual conspiracy theories. One claims that the virus was actually developed in the United States, stolen from a lab by Chinese scientists and then released in China before being allowed to propagate worldwide as part of a communist conspiracy to destroy the economy and political system in the U.S. Another has cast Bill Gates as the villain, claiming that he had a hand in the appearance of the virus as part of a nefarious plot to take over global health care. The megalomaniacal Gates certainly is to blame for using his wealth and status to promote a universal “health” surveillance system for the post-coronavirus world, but that he might have been behind the appearance of the virus itself is certainly a bit of a stretch. Still other theories connect the appearance of coronavirus to 5G telecommunications technology.

The reality of to what degree the national security state that already exists tightens its grip based on a continuing medical emergency pretty much depends on how the virus itself reacts to summer heat and the measures being taken to contain it. Meanwhile, there have been some decidedly extreme proposals about what the United States and other nations might consider doing to seize and maintain the high ground in the battle against a still proliferating, highly contagious and lethal disease.

The key to stopping the spread of the virus, most authorities would agree, is to test and monitor nearly all the public, to force them if needs be to maintain distance from individuals who are already infected. There have been several proposals for how to do that ranging from testing nearly everyone and issuing health ID cards based on the results, with those individuals considered contagious or especially vulnerable being subject to quarantine or some form of further isolation. One over-the-top plan would make the health status of individuals recorded and updated on a chip readable by government scanners that would be permanently embedded in everyone’s body.

The plan that appears to have the best possibly of being adopted is being promoted in a joint venture by Apple and Google that appears to have White House support. Bloomberg reports that “Apple Inc. and Google unveiled a rare partnership to add technology to their smartphone platforms that will alert users if they have come into contact with a person with Covid-19. People must opt in to the system, but it has the potential to monitor about a third of the world’s population.”

The monitoring would be done by central computers and once the principle is established that phones can be manipulated there are no technical or practical limits to what other tasks could be included. That means that the observation made by protagonist Winston Smith in George Orwell’s “1984” has finally been realized. Smith was doing the mandatory half hour of exercise daily in front of his television, but when he began to slack off a voice from the tv set admonished him. He then accepted that in theory the government was actually capable of surveilling everyone all the time and might in fact be doing so. Well George and Winston, we have finally arrived at 1984.

Even if coronavirus fades into obscurity, government might plausibly exploit the fear created by it to push hard that a surveillance mechanism be continued and even expanded to prevent its recurrence or the development of future pandemics. That is what the “science” tells one is the right thing to do, at least according to some scientists, but it ignores individual liberty of association, guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution. The U.S. and other governments have long demonstrated that when it comes to individual freedom versus the ability of the state to impose a statist uniformity, the rules makers will always win out. 9/11, for example, produced the Patriot and Military Commission Acts that have considerably abridged personal liberty in America, even though the threat of terrorism was overstated at the time and has considerably receded ever since. Yet, unfathomably, the Patriot Act has survived and keeps getting renewed by Congress.

Predictably perhaps, presidential son-in-law and jack of all trades Jared Kushner, fresh from his failure to bring peace to the Middle East, has been placed in charge of a White House task force that will determine how and when to develop a pandemic surveillance system which will also link those ill to hospital centers for mandatory screening and treatment. The argument being made is that tracking nearly everyone would enable the identification and quarantining of those who are sick in nearly real time, controlling the spread of future viruses that has up until now been impossible. That the information would be collected into a national data base appears to be part of the program and it would, of course, include information on the patient’s location and activities.

As social media is already being manipulated and controlled by the government working hand-in-hand with the oligarchs who own and operate the sites, the ability to further isolate members of the public so as to preempt the development of any genuine resistance to state policies might well be seen as highly desirable. It would be a gift to a developing police state to be able to know where everyone is at any given time and be able to intuit what they might be doing. Real troublemakers could be further identified and singled out for special attention.

And one should note that it all comes at a time of great vulnerability to both revolution and repression, when representative government is under siege in many countries, unable to control the narrative as it once did. Donald Trump in a tweet barrage last Friday called on his followers to “liberate” Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia because he disapproved of the policies on coronavirus and gun control being advanced by their respective governors, all Democrats. Calling for the overthrow of state governments is illegal, a call to insurrection, but Trump apparently believes that having survived one impeachment attempt he is now untouchable. If many Americans begin to take Trump’s exhortations literally, it could be a sign that the admittedly dystopian political equilibrium in the U.S. is about to spin out of control.

  1. It’s interesting how popular culture has taken the stereotype of the heavy-handed regime in the book 1984 as the only model of what an unfree state looks like. In the real world, all the state requires is obedience, and this it obtains by providing us with a flattering fantasy narrative and the chance to compete among ourselves for shiny toys.

Our ruling elite already own and control everything worth owning and controlling. Sociopaths are always drawn to power, but our rulers are insane, not crazy. Insidious plots to further enslave us, if they succeed, would weaken the illusions that keep most of us compliant. Despite their formidable power, the elite live in constant terror, like the slaveholders of the old south, that we will realize how powerful we are when we stand together in numbers. Their survival depends on keeping us complacent, not waking us up with heavy-handed oppression. Even people who really believe that they live in a magical place called “the free world” can be counted on to take notice if their chains suddenly become so heavy that they finally notice they’ve always been there.

Personally I blame the libertarian war on reality for the mess we are in. For the past forty years, there has been an ongoing campaign to delegitimize the very idea of state institutions designed to improve the well being of the population. The government, obeying its constituinal mandate “to provide for the common welfare”, is relentlkessly attacked as an enemy of progress by those who profit from evading its legitimate oversight. But we are seeing that countries with intact state institutions have been able to handle the pandemic and cannot be easily dismissed as authoritarian. They are, rather, efficient – far more so than any for-private-profit system.

And BECAUSE OF this IMPOSED lockdown, “the second wave” of the virus will probably be even worse in the fall/winter. There are truly evil people and intentions behind this MANUFACTURED virus, but then again that is just a conspiracy theory and we know not to believe in conspiracies. Wasn’t it Dubya who once told the American public that we the people should not buy into “conspiracy theories?” smdh.

  4. Irrespective of the theory of the day on whence the virus came, the real question is why does the spread of the virus have to be stopped?
The real statistics, to date, not the fear porn ones, show the actual number of deaths caused by the virus, are in the region of a bad seasonal flu. Japan, South Korea and Iceland have done the greatest level in testing of their population. All show similar results. Of those rested, approximately 50% have contracted the virus. Of the 50% who have contracted the virus, approximately 50% have shown symptoms. Of the 50% showing symptoms, the death rate is overwhelmingly due to underlying medical conditions, just as it is with seasonal flu. For the deaths not caused by underlying medical conditions, the death rate is less than 1%. For all of those who faithfully get the flu vaccine annually, note that the efficacy rate, is about 20%, and often lower. There has to be something more afoot.
As for China’s response, again irrespective of the narrative or conspiracy theory, the extreme measures taken were because of the unknown, and, I suspect, that they believe they had been attacked with biological weapons. They would have known about the CDC shutdown of the Fort Detrick Lab last July and the reasons for it, which included missing pathogenic material, along with the dozens of safety violations to obscure the possibility of something being weaponized for attack.
Keep in mind that the Italian version of the virus has a different origin than the Chinese one, and that Italian doctors were puzzled by a strange new flu they were seeing in early November, which was before the outbreak in China.
When it comes to international intrigue, its decades before the truth seeps out and is generally ignored by the MSM. That applies to this circumstance.

Our Best Friends Forever got that project underway back in 1948, and they’ve had one smashing success after another ever since. USG effectively tendered its unconditional surrender circa 2001-2003.

Well, that’s not a stretch. Evil Gates has connections with Bilderbergs who have let it be know they wish to decrease the global population, and he’s certainly well known for his desire to decrease global population (no doubt just the impoverished), is on record during a TED Talk for saying, in paraphrase, When we finally vaccinate the entire world we can decrease global population by thirty percent. Dose that not sound strange to anyone?

Gates is involved with big Pharma, owns patents on vaccinations, and strongly wishes to insert a chip into every human as stated in his ID2020 project. And, long ago he created a computer virus that required a digital vaccine and guess who provide the cure and made millions off it?

Bill Gates should be considered a suspect. He is a psychopath, just watch him speak with his arms outstretched and flying around his head – he looks like an insane human being, and he’s been suspiciously predicting this pandemic for years, and then took the lead and telling humanity life will never be as it was until every gets his injection. Me, and millions of others, will fight to the death anyone who tries to force us to get a Gates injection or an chip in the hand. Believe me.

What about Bill Gates? He’s not an engineer, never finished college, not a doctor, not an epidemiologist, not a virologist, not elected to anything, IS a documented thief, owns virus patents, and owns vaccine companies. and he’s been a visitor to Epstein’s lolita island many, many times, no doubt to practice his vaccinations. So, he just rich, otherwise, less of a person than the billions he wishes to eradicate from the planet.

I wouldn’t compare it to “1984.” I’d say “A Bug’s Life”–where the ants revolt against the grasshoppers (and its leader, Hopper) is more like it. Since the Criminal Psycho Elites do not live in reality (“We’re an Empire now; We create our own reality…”) they have no clue as to what is coming. Most no longer buy into the “official” version of 9-11; most no longer buy into climate change and Agenda 21 most no longer buy into worshiping Israel (unless you’re a Christian Zionist); most no longer believe most of what the govt. says or politicians and celebrity hypocrites are really starting to piss people off…’Imagine’ that…so that if the govt. continues this lockdown stuff the elites are just gonna have to invent a “new reality.” As for “normal” maybe the “new” normal will really wake folks up.

  19. @Sean

There is near zero chance of catching a viral load outside. Sneeze/cough droplets spew a few feet and fall to the ground. The rest of the mist dissipates in trillions of cubic feet of air, lacking the strength to cause harm.

There are viruses all around us all the time, but it takes a certain amount/viral load for the virus to overwhelm the immune system. Normally the body’s immune system recognizes the invader and stops it.

And as the temp rises into the 80’s, the virus is neutralized in a few seconds in sunlight.

German study mentions that casual contact (supermarket) isn’t the most likely way to get infected.
Most likely way to get infection is through family transmission/living in the same house with someone infected.

  20. If Jared Kushner is in charge of the White House Task Force that is overseeing implementation of a “pandemic surveillance system” for the US, why do I get the feeling that the greatest, most terrifying, most potentially catastrophic ‘disease’ he and his Task Force cronies will focus the majority of their energies on preventing is (to them) the world’s deadliest scourge: anti-semitism.

Ah, yes, the disease of anti-semitism.

A most dreaded condition so powerfully virulent that even the mere suggestion of its presence can annihilate an entire political movement in only a matter of months, as with Corbyn’s Labour Party in the UK. It must be strictly monitored and quickly punished, er, I mean treated, wherever alleged to exist. A disease that threatens the most historically vulnerable among us, requiring the strongest possible measures of surveillance and prevention, as the holy Holocaustianity Doctrine teaches us.

And should the long-awaited world-wide derivatives crash occur and mandate painful austerity for the US’ burgeoning unemployed masses who might then finally begin to figure out who has screwed them out of their country and future, it is possible we might be needing the long-rumored FEMA re-education camps for all those falling ‘ill’ with the anti-semitism bug, to avoid the contagion rapidly spreading in the populace. I’m sure Kushner and Co.s ‘pandemic surveillance system’ will be just what is needed in that regard…….

I suspect that like many ‘elite’ families, marriage is not always based solely on love or companionship, but also on simple socio-economic expediency. Kushner is VERY well connected in zionist circles, no doubt. And those circles matter big time, especially in NYC business and politics.

Regardless, Kushner lucked out snagging Ivanka, as she is definitely an attractive, intelligent woman. Like her politics or not, the truth is the truth: she’s a pretty hot number (in a Barbie-dollish way.)

Of course, conspiracy-minded individuals might conclude that Trump may have pledged his daughter to wed a prominent zionist scion as part of a mythical ‘deal’ to obtain much-needed financing from Jewish sources, thus assuring long-term compliance with fundamental Tribal interests.

Or maybe Ivanka just wants a Caspar Milquetoast type she can wrap around her lovely little finger. She seems like a living embodiment of the classic “Jewish Princess”.

    Exactly!

When I was practicing law, I always refused to carry a cell phone, no matter how much the other partners or my secretary would request me to do so. I always said that the radiation associated with such devices was a risk I did not want to assume. And this was many years before the risk became widely suspected. But that wasn’t the only reason, heh-heh.

The other reason was that I liked to ‘disappear’ regularly (usually reappearing at a close friend’s house who worked out of his home and where a party was always on tap, if you get my drift.) As the name partner in charge of all civil litigation for the firm, I had the power to refuse, and I used it. I never, ever had a cell phone during a legal career spanning three decades. Looking back, it’s probably one the best choices I made during my career, health-wise (and fun-wise!)

Today, my now-old-and-grey friends will occasionally upbraid me for still not owning a cell phone. Or I guess they call them smart phones nowadays. No thanks. I’ll take my privacy and health over convenience any day………

  26. M. Mond Esq., very wise. Among the various manipulation techniques they use on us is, “What if we have to reach you?” Nobody’s that important. Life goes on just as it did before cellphones.
