MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/. A US airstrike on Syria’s Idlib province has left numerous casualties and a major destruction, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (part of Russia’s Defense Ministry) said in a statement on Sunday.

The US carried out the airstrike at 3 p.m. on August 31 on an area between Ma’arrat Misrin and Kafr Haya, the center reported.

“There are numerous casualties and a major destruction in the settlements targeted by the US airstrike,” the center said, stressing that this strike came in violation of the earlier reached agreements because Washington had not notified Russia and Turkey about its plans.

The Russian military notes that the US has jeopardized further implementation of the ceasefire in the Idlib de-escalation zone and also disrupted it in a number of areas. A lot of these Israeli provocations are, as noted, Netanyahu electioneering. Hence, they are likely to stop or be diminished (the Gaza border massacres excepted) if Bibi either wins the election and can form a new government or loses and is driven from power with the opposition forming a new government. The video with high resolution shows clearly the settlement of Avivim, its military base, the narrator describes the settlement and the base in details counting its sections, who operates inside, and their numbers, and who heads it.

Then, the video shows how the Israeli IDF terrorists tried to baffle Hezbollah by planting military vehicles with dummies inside and where the vehicles were parked in front of the base.

Civilian vehicles passing by are also shown clearly from the firing point where a Hezbollah fighter appears next to his Kornet battery, then appears the targeted military vehicle. The brand is WOLF armored vehicle moving upwards away from the firing point which proves it was a manned vehicle and not empty.

Seconds later, Hezbollah fighter fires his Kornet missile after locking on the military vehicle and the narrator says that two missiles were fired at the vehicle to confirm its destruction and the other missile appears approaching the vehicle from the left of the screen.

Impact and the vehicle go into a fireball, clear destruction. One of the firing points is 1.5 kilometers far from the borders with Lebanon, and the second at around 4 kilometers.

Of course, there are differences – it is their outlook on the world and how they treat their own, that is parallel – not their histories.

No – not at all. I try to pray for the people of Palestine on a daily basis.

The problem is not that Israel is acting in her own interests; she has shown that no number of UN resolutions against her will change her thinking or approach. Expecting that government to act by some moral standards seems silly to me. And complaining about why they don’t seems to be a waste of time.

The bigger question is – why aren’t all the other nations acting in their own self-interests with regards to her? If they did, the problem would be over in short order.

Now, I’m a US citizen, so my concern is with policies that use my tax dollars. I can’t do anything about the Muslim governments overseas. There are many different Christians in this world. The spectrum goes from the warmongering Zionists, to the idealistic philosophic Christians – from Cheney to Art.

As the sole advocate of “philosophical Christianity” on UR, my rhetoric comes across as hard core and uncompromising. Well, Talha, I’ll disagree with you. In four respects, this is not literally like the Iraq war on repeat; it’s a lot worse.

First, morally, Saddam Hussein’s regime was abysmal. Iran isn’t exactly an inspiration to us all — but it’s not really much worse than the global average, or maybe even better than that. It’s certainly better than — just to list some states off the top of my head — Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and literally anywhere in subsaharan Africa. So put Iran on the hit list. We could quibble about the exact ranking, but it’ll be somewhere around number seventy three. We’ll get to it after we’ve conquered half the rest of the globe. Iran just isn’t that bad. Maybe not that good — but not that bad.

Second, it’s a lot bigger than Iraq. Obviously, we failed to prevail in Iraq. Having lost to the lightweight, we’re now proposing a match with the middleweight?

Third, Iraq was a somewhat artificial nation, lacking anything like a compelling national ideology. It’s hard to imagine a more authentic nation than Iran, and whatever the shortcomings of the ideology of the Islamic Republic, a whole lot of Iranians obviously believe in it — believe in it enough to mount suicidal human wave attacks into clouds of poison gas, if the situation calls for it.

…and that takes us to the fourth problem. Again, whatever one may think about it, Iran’s national ideology will elicit suicidal self-sacrifice from millions.

Hence the US army would have to be withdrawn from Saudi Arabia, and that meant Saddam could not be left in power in Iraq. The invasion of Iraq should have been done in 1991, some people like Bruce Gundmonson say the it was not done then because the gas guzzling Abrams were going through the reserves of fuel, but I feel they could have done an overthrow of Saddam in 1991 and at small expense and knock on instability. There would have been no Osama 9/11 and no invasion of Afghanistan either.

The moral of all this is the Muslims countries are not good allies, if you give them weapons they will seem grateful at first, but then as seen as they have the wherewithal they’ll go crazy and turn them on you. They are seething with resentment and cannot be trusted. Hence, only the Jewish state and the Saudi family dictatorship can be relied on. Iran is merely zig zagging on nukes and pretending to care about Palestinians to keep the Arabs on side until such time as Iran has what they need to take revenge on Sunnis and the West. Tell me they don’t deam of this, and it would not start an all encompassing general ME war, if not WW3.

If the Iranians had a genuine change of heart something could be worked out and their population could be given the benefits of Western economic exchange and technological transfer. I personally have little hope in posture changing vis-a-vis Iran if Trump gets re-elected and the Democrats are a complete toss up. However, Iran has been making good moves along with its neighbors in that it is cementing ties with Pakistan and Turkey (this is even including military cooperation). This is good, the Imran Khan administration has realized that Pakistan’s ties to Iran (historical Persia) are more closer than those like the Saudis (did you know the Pakistani national anthem is almost completely in Farsi?). And with Turkey in the mix, this is basically getting to the point where any serious invasion is out of the question (unless the US wants to attempt one from the beach). Turkey can also play a key role in helping to figure out Iran and Turkmenistan’s current issues about natural gas marketshare.

And it looks like Iraq will not want a part in hosting an invasion force and the Taliban certainly won’t allow it to happen on their soil.

So at this point the only thing we are looking at potentially happening is Iran getting bombed from the air. And they have made it clear if that happens, Israel will also get hit in the retaliation; so if have a kind of Mexican stand-off of sorts for now.

In theory, it’s always possible Sanders could get elected, but at least in 2016, Trump was definitely a better choice than Clinton. With Trump, supporting Israel — and by extension, attacking Iran — became to some extent a partisan issue. See the widespread averral among the current Democratic candidates that they will re-enter the nuclear agreement with Iran that we reneged on.

With Clinton, the bi-partisan consensus in favor of uncritical Israel-wuv would have held, and we’d be fighting in Iran today.

I am not sure that I would buy that assertion about “most” wholesale. I know engineers in the valley who live in their cars, not because they are dysfunctional, but because they have to. Sure, you could argue that the high cost of housing in this area is an artificial bubble, and that the Bay area is unique in a not-so-positive way, and you could argue that some of the homeless are drug addicts and other social misfits. But, I also see the PTSD-infused of our many wars for Israel that have been abandoned by our society.

Maybe it would be a failed experiment, but I would love to see some of that money being wasted in wars being put to good use in rehabilitating our abused veterans, and then we can decide whether it was a good idea or not.

I am not a bleeding heart liberal, but I am a believer in the social contract.
