Let’s hit the road in the search for the real Jesus.

Galilee, Year 27: baptized by an itinerant preacher, John the Baptist. That’s when the story really begins. We know virtually nothing of his life till then.

Galilee is ruled by shabby client kings of the Roman empire – first Herod, then his son Herod Antipas. Jesus only enters imperial jurisdiction later, when he moves to Judaea, a Roman province since Year 6.

Galilee is all about agricultural and fishing land, surrounded by way more sophisticated Greeks and Phoenicians. Jesus grows up in a context of simple peasant life; increasing taxes; population explosion; and then non-stop fragmentation of peasant land, causing the proverbial pressures on traditional family life.

Social oppression inevitably had to engender resistance – in the form of budding peasant unrest. Talk about quite fertile ground for the proliferation of charismatic spiritual leaders.

Yet who was Jesus The Man, really? A Jewish holy man? A prophet? A magician? A miracle man? A peasant leader? A revolutionary? Prefiguring Walt Withman, he did “contain multitudes”. He was indeed all things to all men.

What we seem to know for sure is that he had charisma in spades – and exuded natural authority.

The Synoptic Gospels point to problems with Mom and his brothers. Yet he never abandoned his followers – those twelve specials, all from very humble backgrounds, except Matthew (a tax collector).

He lived on the (dusty) road – full time, and that was not exactly comfortable. He was at ease with everyone – prostitutes included.

As a preacher, he was a master of P.R. He talked in parables – easily grasped by small agricultural communities. That’s where he felt really at home.

So Jesus was a rural, not urban, phenomenon. He specially appealed to those who were ill – mentally and physically. He built up a solid reputation as a healer: all those miracle cures – especially exorcisms. And the whole lot interpreted as a sign of holiness.

Jesus was a Palestinian Jew. His followers were overwhelmingly Jews – those peasants destabilized by heavy taxation of their lands and ingloriously clashing with the corruption of Herod’s political machine.

Jesus focused on the imminence of God’s kingdom. But what did he really mean? The Gospels don’t make it easier. Much of his preaching is inclusive. Yet sometimes he would refer to a “Last Judgment” in which the wicked will be punished and the good will be rewarded.

Essentially, he was a millenarian prophet. But as much as he was striving for moral renewal, he was delivering a social message – where the “kingdom” to come represented the Triumph of the Outcast. What that really mean, in practice, was possibly a renewal of family and village community life.

Whatever he was really up to, the Powers That Be feared Jesus. After all he was way too popular. And even if he did not advise armed resistance, Power could not but be very worried by a charismatic leader with miraculous attributes dazzling the crowds.

Jesus may have sensed he was a target. And that’s what may have provoked the move to Judaea – possibly in Year 30. And then to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem may have been the Holy Grail. The apex of his mission – as he finally sensed he was ready to confront the powers behind the Temple.

He made a Jerusalem entrance that was nothing short of epic, riding a donkey – as if fulfilling a prophecy (Zechariah) that “a king” would enter Jerusalem on a donkey. In Matthew, the crowds actually call him “Son of David”.

Jerusalem was buzzing with people getting together for Passover. And last but not least, Roman governor Pontius Pilate and his troops were also in town, freshly arrived from Caesarea – the Roman HQ in the province – and obsessed with maintaining order.

Enter Caiaphas, the high priest: a canny, vastly experienced political operator, who managed for years to get the support of the Jews while placating his Roman overlords.

Now imagine the scene – worthy of a Scorsese epic: an outsider, itinerant preacher from Galilee, arriving in the mean streets with his posse, all speaking in weird accents, with the crowds shouting he may be the Messiah.

And then, the ultimate set piece: he enters the Temple, by himself, and overthrows the tables of the moneylenders. What did he really want?

That’s Political Jesus 1 and 2.

1. To graphically stress the end of the old order – Temple included – and the coming of the “new kingdom”.

2. To express – politically – the growing popular revolt against the ruling elite.

And by a simple twist of fate, that’s when he sealed his destiny.

Blowback was instantaneous. The Jewish priests had to be placated. They feared Roman retaliation. And then Caiaphas saw his opening, telling them – according to the Gospel by John – “it is better for one man to die for the people”.

And that’s how Jesus the Outsider was used as only a pawn in their game to maintain order in Jerusalem.

He was now free to enter History as a larger than life Martyr, Savior, and Myth.

Wow, the last time I read such a “historical” biography of Christ, it was written by a Mormon. It is obviously insane to reject the supernatural and ludicrous aspects of the Gospels, then turn around and use the Gospels as a template for creating a timeline of Christ’s life. The Gospels are quite obviously successive copies of each other. The synoptic gospels, derived from Mark, all emphasize that Christ’s teachings are expressed in parable and not meant to be taken literally. Furthermore they are apparent satires of the Pauline literature. And they are the only source we have for any of the “facts” stated in this article. No source of the 1st century, aside from Mark and his copycats, attests to the life of Jesus Christ. Even Paul does not describe a life of Christ. Paul describes no teaching of Christ, and no miracle of Christ, other than his incarnation and resurrection. But he says this was revealed through scriptures and divine visitations. Not some hippy dude from Galilee.

Cite some sources please Mr. Escobar!

The one that Christians worship as the only begotten Son of God was an irreligious, irreverent, and impious peasant.i He had sharp tongue, a volatile temper, was harsh to his mother and never even knew his biological father. Immediately after he began his public career his family thought he’s gone insane, and when he was rejected as a false prophet in his hometown he slipped away from his enemies after being almost thrown of the edge of a cliff…

And while only the mentally deranged and demon possessed called him the son of God, he was considered a drunkard and a glutton who befriended whores, extortionists and alcoholics… or simply an agent of Satan by the more learned Jewish scribes. As a social deviant who avoided crowds and sought out solitude, he transgressed the purity regulations, and even dared to break the divine commandments of the Mosaic Law, while his baffled contemporaries even asked if he intended to commit suicide…

An eccentric teacher of poetic-paradox who spoke in strange riddles and razor-sharp one-liners, this restless heretic proclaimed the already beginning reign of a Kingdom that was also soon to come, by invoking the most morally outrageous metaphors and the most obscene imagery. A fearless antagonist of the established order, he stirred up revolt against the rulers of his county, and sought to usher in his own anarchic Kingdom by inviting the most despicable and disaffected underbelly of society to the holy banquet… A shameless fool who exposed the hypocrisy of religious sincerity, he preached the break-up of the family and the love of ones enemies while his enigmatic message was constantly misunderstood, even by his closest followers.

As the sheer single-minded lunacy of this bizarre mission without any human justification moved towards its inevitable climax, this blasphemous vagabond entered Jerusalem riding on a female donkey… Walking into the Temple courtyards like a madman possessed, and in a diabolical passion for a justice to come, he cracked a bullwhip and sent a shock wave through the guardians of religious purity by turning over tables and chasing out the money changes.

A rebellious outlaw exposing the sin of obedience, in a blessed rage for holy disarray he informed Jewish religious authorities that own fathers killed the prophets and then threatened to tear down the Temple… In a murderous conspiracy at the highest levels of power, he was arrested in the dead of the night, given a mock trail and then brutally executed as a dangerous criminal for both treason against Rome and blasphemy against the God of Israel… while confessing, in his very last breath, that he was an atheist. Yeshua was never going to change the world, but at least he was willing to die trying…

  4. So we just ignore the fact that the Jesus of the Gospels shows creepy necromancer powers: He can control demons and raise people from the dead, apparently including himself.

If you read a story about a character with those abilities, you’d think, Wow, what a powerful wizard. Then you close the book, look around and realize that nothing of the sort exists in the real world.

By contrast, apparently none of the Gospel writers ever thought of attributing to Jesus mathematical abilities like mental calculation. Yet real people have shown such abilities:

“Son of David” is an interesting piece of information that can help us understand why the genealogy of the most glorified exalted descent was a prerequisite for claims to moral and spiritual authority back in those days. Propaganda ,embellishment ,layered beliefs , need to reinforce one’s conviction and faith by external validation -all played their roles in elevating the human nature of Jesus to the inscrutable nature of divinity. In reality this concept was challenged and decried repeatedly until the last Arian disappeared in Spain in 4-5 th century .

A plethora of mental gymnastics took place among the followers in order to make sense of the end of Jesus.

No where in Bible Jesus said he was not a man .

Son of God was a contemporaneous concept in Mediterranean civilization from Egypt to Syria and Greece to Saudi Arabia. God inhabiting the earth or coming down to earth was a common theme in Greek, Roman ,Indian and Persian .

Adding son was not a big intellectual or philosophical jump but was rather easy way out to assuage guilt ,feel hope and remain monotheistic within the larger Judaic tradition while same time offering explanation to the pagans who grew up in the traditions of the beliefs in gods having families, consorts or sons .

Which would mean that all the Gospels’ implications that Jesus is the Messiah and born of the seed of David (through Joseph) are deliberate deceptions. Which begs the question, why does Mark want his readers to know that Jesus Christ is not really the seed of David, even though other characters in the Bible believe that he is? That’s called dramatic irony and it’s a sure sign that the Gospels are a deliberate fiction.

  17. gay troll says:
    @Priss Factor

But Matthew and Luke both provide detailed genealogies linking Abraham to David to Joseph. Why do they do this? I’ll tell you why, because the Messiah must be born of David’s seed. And if he is not, then he cannot be the Messiah. So we have a situation where Jesus Christ appears to be the Messiah but secretly is not. This explains why he offers damnation instead of salvation to the Jews.

  18. Mr. Escobar’s take here is almost as depressing as the comments here. The fact is, Jesus did not come to bring a political message, he deliberately eschews such statements. He tells the Jews to pay taxes, but he then uses this as a metaphor for how they are to serve God.

As for what the “Kingdom of Heaven/God” that Jesus is constantly talking about is the one that all the Jews had been waiting for. They had been waiting for the Son of David, the Messiah. This man would come and save them. What exactly this salvation looked like was not clear, but the Jews were convinced it would be a full restoration of the Davidic kingdom. They would be restored to self-rule and they would dominate the gentiles in their kingdom and beyond.

However, Jesus brought them a spiritual and ecclesiastical kingdom, not a political and military one. He was not the man they wanted. Escobar is right when he says that Jesus antagonized and threatened the power of the corrupt Jewish elites, the Sanhedrin, by challenging their legitimacy. He told people that they were hypocrites and evil, and he was totally right. Since they couldn’t refute him, they killed him.

And for those of you who refuse to believe that Christ was a miracle worker or possessed supernatural powers, note that He not only predicts His own death at the hands of the Jews, but the destruction of the Temple (Matthew 24:1-25:46). And since we know the Gospels were written before Roman Jewish war and the Temple’s destruction, along with the sack of Jersualem, we know this is an authentic prophecy. Plus, in his trial, Jesus says that He will come in judgement to destroy the Sanhedrin, comparing himself to the Son of Man (who is identified with God) mentioned in the book of Daniel. This is the blasphemy for which he is charged, though the trial was illegal. And Christ is correct, and in 70 AD, the Jews are judged and their leadership is ground beneath the heel of Rome.

  20. In the earliest Gospels, the synoptics, Jesus is depicted as an exorcist faith healer. His carefully managed “miracles” attracted a following among the unsophisticated rustics of rural Galilee. For his part, Jesus asserted (no fewer than ninety-three times in the four Gospels) that he was the enigmatic “Son of Man” of ancient legend. This mythic figure from the book of Daniel was not divine, but an intermediary between god and man. Jesus stated unequivocally that he had come “not to replace the Law and the Prophets, but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). Jesus held that his mission was to purify and prepare only his fellow Jews for what he believed was the imminent return of Yahweh (Matthew 24 and 25, Mark 13, Luke 21), who would again smite Israel’s enemies as he did in the old sagas to establish his kingdom on earth.

We know today that Jesus’ allegedly novel moral principles were not original with him, but were adaptations or paraphrases of contemporary Jewish thought hastily cobbled together for the end times emergency. His unrealistic exhortations to “turn the other cheek”, to love one’s enemies, to give away all one’s possessions and so on, clearly show his perspective that this world was about to pass away – during the lifetimes of his audience, he stated – so that practical strategies for daily living were no longer important.

This longed-for “kingdom of god” would not consist simply of Jews happily freed from foreign oppression, but would see them at last installed in their rightful place “to rule the nations with a rod of iron” as the chosen people of a jealous god who claimed do-minion over all humanity. This is the core expectation of the Messiah myth of what Christianity calls the Old Testament. Jesus saw it as his mission to bring about perfect obedience to the law (Matthew 5:48) among “only the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 15:24). The Gospel account of Jesus’ initial refusal to heal the child of a Palestinian woman (Matthew 15:21), because he did not waste his magic on “dogs”, shows Jesus’ acceptance of the intolerant ethnocentrism of Judaism.

Some scholars today maintain that Jesus’ words and deeds demonstrate his strikingly unique cult-belief about himself, that he was the incarnation of the mythic perfect Paschal lamb. Animated by this idea, Jesus contrived to violate a Roman law which carried the death penalty so he could offer his own body as blood sacrifice, not on a Jewish altar as in days of old, but on a Roman cross. A folk-memory of this transgression likely survives in the garbled narrative of Jesus’ symbolic attack on the money changers at the Temple, which was a heavily guarded facility that doubled as the national treasury, the very heart of state power. Jesus imagined this gesture would be so pleasing to Yahweh that it would move the deity to return in power at the very hour of his execution, just as he intervened at the last moment to stay the hand of Abraham when about to sacrifice his son Isaac. But Yahweh failed to take notice and Jesus perished in ignominy. Jesus’ agonized final words, “father, why have you abandoned me?” are as moving a testament as you will find anywhere in literature to the tragic consequences of religious fanaticism.

  23. gay troll says:

Nice gloss, but calling the synoptics the “earliest Gospels” is very misleading. The earliest gospel is the writings of Paul and they were written at least 20 years before the first synoptic (Mark). They are not placed first in the New Testament for a very simple reason: they do not attest to any doings of Jesus Christ. To take Paul at his word is to believe that Jesus Christ made himself like a man, chose to suffer terribly, died on a stake, and was resurrected to Heaven. Paul says Christianity offers neither miraculous signs nor wisdom, yet the synoptics are filled with both.

Paul never describes Christ’s life, and the only time he describes Christ’s birth is to set up a metaphor about being born to a heavenly and not an earthly woman. In fact Paul’s whole teaching can be reduced to placing the fulfillment of Jewish prophecies in the heavenly realm, precisely because they were not being fulfilled on Earth. Part of the key to understanding this is that the book of Acts, which serves as a bridge between the four Gospels and Paul, was likely written by the same author as Luke, likely around 180 CE, more than a century after Paul. If the New Testament were to be honest about its literary evolution, it would be ordered more like: Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, Thessalonians, Mark, Revelation, Matthew, John, Luke, Acts. But then it would be obvious that Paul’s teachings were put in Christ’s mouth, and the synoptics are pure fiction. The best part is that Paul admits he is a con artist, and the synoptics advertise that they are written in parable. Yet someone like Pepe here thinks they are an archaeologist for plucking history out of thin air.

I am also skeptical of your claim that the moral principles articulated by Christ are derived from contemporaneous Jewish thought. Certainly there are strains of Philo in Christianity but on the whole Christ’s morality is Greco-Roman, Cynic and Stoic, as epitomized by Seneca whom the synoptics adapted mercilessly.

Wrong! Jesus taught the ‘immanence’ of God’s Kingdom:

When He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation. Nor will they say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For remember, the kingdom of God is within you.”

    Luke 17:20-21

The good news Jesus preached for 3 years was this: “God is within us all, seek and you shall find.

    And …

“The gospel of the good news that mortal man may, by faith, become spirit-conscious, that he is a Son of God, is not dependent on the death of Jesus. True, indeed, all of this gospel of the kingdom has been tremendously illuminated by the Masters death, but even more so by his life.”

  33. Whenever any form of government becomes destructive to it’s ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.
    The Declaration of Independence

If the world wants to be free of all government manufactured dis-ease.
To be free of all fear, lock downs and individual violence controlled and directed by the State.
Then politicians should disappear entirely from this planet.
They are the enemies of humanity.
Humanity has to be freed from their chains and their presence.
Humanity is a victim of these power seekers, mad people whose only ambition in life is their ego.
The whole of politics is nothing but an ego game.
The politician is not interested in solving problems, they are interested in making them as complex as possible.
So they become absolutely essential, you need them always.
The politician is very cunning, they are not clever.
    They substitute cunningness for cleverness.
They are not wise, because to be wise in this world is to be condemned by the masses and the politician cannot afford that.
The whole of politics depends on lies.
They want to keep you always afraid of hidden enemies.
The coronavirus crisis is a great example of this, to keep every country locked down in fear and permanent crisis.
Adolf Hitler has written in his autobiography.
“Unless you have enemies, you cannot become a great leader.
Even if you don’t have enemies, create the fiction that your country is in danger, because when people are afraid they are ready to become slaves.
When people are afraid they are ready to follow politicians.”
Although he was an insane person, once in a while he made statements which are very significant.
    Become aware!
In your fear is the politicians power.
The more they make you afraid, the more powerful they are.
Outside the country they go on creating fictions, and inside the country they also continue.
Until they remove all of your freedoms.
These are the politicians who don’t want to be interfered with, who want absolute control of humanity, where nobody is above them.
Is nobody interested in human life?
Continuously around the world people are still believing Covid 19 to be more dangerous than the seasonal flu?
Is nobody interested in finding out what our priorities should be?
Politicians certainly need exposure because as far as I can see, if politicians are exposed completely, humanity, for the first time, will be able to be free from politics.
Wherever there is domination, there is politics.
Politicians are dominating all of your life not only from outside but from inside.
Through propaganda and psychology they have become your voice, they have become your mind, they have become your conscience, they have enslaved your very being.
From inside they go on dominating you, saying what is right, what is wrong.
If you follow them, you start feeling fearful, divided, neurotic, because you are not following your own nature.
All these politicians have created for humanity is a situation in which individuals cannot be at ease, they cannot enjoy life, they cannot live it in its totality.
Let humanity be free from all these sociopathic criminals which have dominated so badly, and distorted human nature so immensely.
You can see the humanity that is the result.
You say that a tree is known by its fruits.
Then your whole past should be judged by the humanity that you find today.
This insane, divided humanity, miserable, suffering, full of anger, violence, rage, hate.
This is the result of all your political leaders.
Remember, humanity is just a collective name.
There exists no humanity, only individuals.
Don’t depend on anybody else to save you, only your own work on yourself can do that.
Individuals have to be politically free, free in every dimension to function out of their own still small voice, out of their own consciousness.
Mind is blocking the fountain of your intelligence like a rock.
Intelligence arises only when the mind has been discarded.
When the mind has been put aside, only then intelligence arises.
Intelligence is not the quality of the mind at all.
Mind is always mediocre, mind is always stupid, unintelligent.
Intelligence is never out of the mind.
    Intelligence is awareness!
To be in the mind is to be unintelligent.
To be beyond the mind is to be intelligent.
All meditation is the search for this intelligence.
    That is the real revolution.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking:
What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?
Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?
The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!
    If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough.
And even more, we had no awareness of the real situation.
We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
    Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Humanity is caught up in such a sorry state of affairs.
There is great power in the hands of the un-elected.
Sovereign governments controlled by oligarchs, enslaving the people, working for the corporations, and the banks.
The very people who should not be allowed to possess power.
This combination of power, greed and ignorance is certain to end in disaster.
Powerful people that want the whole world to remain divided into rich and poor.
Their whole effort is to keep you as unintelligent as possible, so those who have power are never questioned, their intentions are never questioned.
Oligarchs, banks and corporations cannot rule over sovereign governments!
In the name of democracy something else has been going on.
Those who are powerful in society do not want any change in the social structure, because their power, interest and exploiting capacity depend on it.
And humanity has been exploited in every possible way.
Even their hopes have been exploited, their aspirations have been exploited, their absolutely valid demands have been exploited.
We are giving so much power, to power hungry people, with our own hands we are asking them to hang us!
    This is not democracy.
In the name of democracy these people are exploiting us.
We have to go through a truly radical change.
What I am proposing is the right way to change the whole structure, so that one day meritocracy can merge into democracy.
I call it meritocracy, because it will depend on merit.
It will not be a political system, it will not have any political parties.
People will be running for posts on their own merit.
And each individual will decide on their own, because no political party will be pressurizing them.
There will be no political party at all, individual to individual.
Anybody who is chosen is chosen because of their merit.
Direct meritocracy is the answer for all our problems.
People should stand on their own merit.
Merit should be the only decisive point.
We have geniuses in every field, but you don’t find those geniuses becoming prime ministers or presidents.
But they can become presidents and prime ministers if there are no political parties.
Then their sheer merit will be enough, and nobody will even be capable of competing with them.
They will not have to go to beg for votes, they will be chosen unanimously.
We have so many people of great merit, but they should not become part of any political party, they should not degrade themselves.
To become part of a political party and beg for votes while making false promises which cannot be fulfilled, is not the way.
Only the third-class people, very mediocre people, become part of political parties, the best remain out.
Actually only the most capable and intelligent should be the ones who manage the society.
The world will be far better if we are in the hands of intelligent, independent people, creative people who do not want to destroy, whose intelligence won’t allow them to do all the stupid things that politicians go on doing.
Power should always be in the hands of the more alert, more aware, more conscious people.
Otherwise, this power is going to destroy the whole of humanity.
It is time to understand the whole situation.
We have to prevent politicians from going on playing the same criminal games.
Because behind the masks of democracy is a cunning, criminal political system.
These people who call themselves democratic and think that they are protectors of democracy in the world are really imperialistic.
These governments pretend to be democratic, but are not.
We can all now see that this so called democracy is only a mask, and behind it are sociopathic politicians controlling fascist governments.
These governments should be exposed to the whole world, because the whole world has been believing that they are in a democracy.
Why should there be a political party?
There is no reason for political parties to exist.
If you need a finance minister, then just look at the great experts you have in economics and finance, the Max Keiser’s of the world who can be nominated for the post, and can be chosen for the post.
There is no need for any political party.
We should move from party politics to individuals, from democracy, from dictatorship to meritocracy.
Every individual who is eligible to vote should choose the person who will represent the ministerial position without any political party programming him, forcing him or bribing him.
Individuals should stand, and individuals should choose, and the choice should be on merit.
Your political system should be an election of merit, alternative media can play a tremendously valuable role in explaining to individuals the merit of different people who are contesting.
It is possible to use blockchain with a process of enhanced online security, to guarantee free, honest and fair elections, thus securely and permanently recording every individuals vote online directly.
The people can collectively decide by referendum on what issues to directly vote on, which individuals to represent them, which ones to remove, such as individuals who have become disloyal to the people, (lets have a vote on breaking up all plutocratic MSM propaganda outlets), also which individuals to prosecute for behaving criminally, whether they are selling weapons to rogue nations, or interfering in the affairs of other sovereign nations, or are creating illegal wars and genocide.
Lets not forget the issue of how to deal with all the war criminals of the last 50 years!
People don’t understand that you may get out of one system of fascist political imprisonment, and while you are dancing and singing and celebrating, another imprisonment is being created for you by your new political leaders who are promising you a better life, a better world, a better humanity.
This has been going on for centuries.
It needs to stop, we urgently need a new kind of government.
A new process, of direct meritocracy, where merit should be the only criterion.
Only then can governments exist as accountable functional units, which are not ruled by politicians but run by people of intelligence and merit.
And of course without any lobbying or donations, possibly with all ministerial posts on three year contracts and a maximum service of two terms.
Politicians have already done enough harm to humanity, it is time to forever show them the door.

  34. @Prince Leo

Leo wins the POV of the Christmas Rashomon, for me. The effect Jesus / Yeshua had on the cruel lawmakers of the Jewish society of the millennium was unprecedented. I will make my bottom line up front – its Christmas an I won’t spend much time on this – but Jesus’ political mission was obvious. To upset the order of profit making from the pretense of holiness, yes – but hs message to the Pharisees and the observant Jews was always consistent. There is one law now – the law of love for each other under God – and if that is followed, you – and all humanity – no longer need be enslaved by the laws of the Pharisees or of Rome. The lawyers lose, forever. One simple trick. One law to obviate the thousands pf laws the Talmudists have made, and still produce in our courts and legislatures. The law of simple faith in love, and living one’s life with integrity from this law (as if it were the only law) leads to a life unworried by the snares and avarice of law binding. (How many times did Jesus say “woe to you scribes and Pharisees?”)

To those that believe the works are fiction, they are trusting that only manuscripts explain the rise of the world’s most expansive religious belief system, that led Rome and Byzantium, cathedrals and universities, Western civilization and inspired the human spiritual genius of Bach, Shakespeare, Michelangelo, Kennedy.

To explain away the source of direct inspiration as cognitive dissonance gravely mistakes the meaning making of humanity. We didn’t come here to lament late-civilization’s dearth of spiritual enchantment. I still have and teach mine, and feel sorry for the materialists here. To me that’s the lie of the Jewish faith – which is primarily a set of rules with enforced prayer. Has there been a true Jewish mystic since Christ?

A faith that exists just to follow the law is not a spiritual faith at all, but based on the idea that God spoke once and the reception of the Word was perfect. A living faith or religion is a mystery and requires the follower to follow the unknown, not the known, not faith by “citing sources.” One can, and many still do, spend a lifetime studying original and ancient works and words directly. The canonical Gospels are an exoteric body of word, they have been translated over 2000 years, they are not the primary texts.

    I still accept Pascal’s wager. Peace –

  35. It’s amazing what some people want to pass off as scholarship. This version of Jesus’ life is a lazy man’s version…nothing more than ill-thought, concocted garbage. Read a copy of “The Jesus Scroll” by Donovan Joyce if you’re truly interested in understanding the historical Jesus and those close to him. Then dig a little deeper and read the manuscripts from the Nag Hammadi Library.

  36. Babyl-on says:

There is some quite convincing evidence put forward by Dr. Richard Carrier and others which maintains there is only about a 30% chance that Jesus existed.

  37. gay troll: “Certainly there are strains of Philo in Christianity but on the whole Christ’s morality is Greco-Roman, Cynic and Stoic, as epitomized by Seneca whom the synoptics adapted mercilessly.”

Stoicism and Cynicism both depended upon reason and thus were fully accessible only to a cognitive elite. Christianity’s innovation was to make these views of the world dependent upon faith instead of reason, so that anyone could share them. Anyone can have faith, but few can understand.

There is a Darwinism not just of biological organisms, but of ideas too. Christianity had superior “reproductive fitness” and so took over the West, while Stoicism and Cynicism became extinct. Now we live with the consequences.

And since we know the Gospels were written before Roman Jewish war and the Temple’s destruction, along with the sack of Jersualem, we know this is an authentic prophecy.

    We know no such thing.

In fact we know the exact opposite: the earliest extant fragments – FRAGMENTS – of the ‘Gospels’ are from the early to mid 2nd century.

P52 is the fragment I have in mind, and it’s a fragment of the weird-ass “I wrote it when I was tripping balls” gospel of JOHN, which is basically Jeebus-free (except if by ‘Jeebus’ we mean the mythical figure who rides dragons and shoots fire from his tongue which is also a sword).

Bullshitters always bet on the audience not calling them out. I’m calling you out, bullshitter.

It’s not hard to make a prophecy after the event: I prophesy that the S&P500 will hit a low of 666 in March 2009 (let’s assume I wrote that in April 2004).

  40. @Mikael_

Mikael, on my reading the answer to that is pretty clear, per Acts. Paul goes to many synagogues in Anatolia, Macedonia and Greece and always addresses, explicitly, two groups of people. The first, probably one in ten, the Jews: the others, nine in every ten in the synagogue, the Believers, i.e. Gentiles who were enthusiastic about Judaism, were rushing to the synagogues in large numbers, but were deterred, perhaps by Judaism’s close legalistic controls, circumcision etc. and then they found Paul had a very impressive, convincing, and nice, not nasty, monotheism, and went for it.

There is a Darwinism not just of biological organisms, but of ideas too. Christianity had superior “reproductive fitness” and so took over the West, while Stoicism and Cynicism became extinct.

The idea of applying the theory of natural selection to ideas was one of Richard Dawkins’ insights. Apart from being a prominent atheist, Dawkins is also the person who invented the concept of the meme as a thing that attempts to propagate itself among minds, the same way that genes attempt to propagate themselves among meatbags.

We have been encouraged to misunderstand Darwin, and to infer that adaptation to a given environment as evidenced by reproductive success (‘fitness’) is the same as ‘qualitative superiority’.

In the same way, we have misunderstood Dawkins and conflated memetic reproductive success with truth.

It is only recently – with mind-invasions by objectively stupid ideas being observable in real time[1] – that is has become plain that the truth is at a distinct disadvantage in memetic natural selection.

Bad ideas that hit the right rhetorical note are to memes, what subsidised reproduction of the bottom quintile is to genes.

If the two things happen in tandem, you’re on the road back to the Dark Ages – unless we get really lucky and a genuine global pandemic conducts a eugenic cull of the West’s gigantic herds of obese tattooed ignorant fucktards.

[1] Think of the type of anti-scientific drivel that has ‘gone viral’: climate cultism; trans-cultism and such like. We can watch bad ideas infect 90IQ minds by counting retweets.

And that is what Christianity degenerated to, a template of ‘leadership’ that acquiesces the followers so that they can be managed as a ‘flock’.

No – he left Egypt as a boy… But in those days – just like now – it was common for people to speak languages of people who live nearby. The common language in Judea at that time was Aramaic – while Hebrew was for “religious service” at that time. Nobody pronounced his name Jesus though. It was Yeshua – which has almost the same meaning as Joshua.

Is it just coincidence that the name RoseMARY was chosen by the novel’s Jewish writer, Ira Levin, then directed by Jewish fleeing felon Roman Polanski?

  51. JasonT says:

    You are wrong.

    1 Thessalonians 5:21
21 Test all things; hold fast that which is good.

Christianity specifically teaches to “Test all thing”. The crux of the CoronaDoom, as you put it, is humanity’s refusal to completely follow the teaching of Christianity.

    Proverbs 1:7
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

    Corinthians 3:19-21
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” 21 Therefore let no one boast in men.

Modern ‘science’ is what has brought the “CoronaDoom”. Reliance by scientists on ‘models’ instead of observation. Reliance by the public on the words of the corrupted media instead of simply looking around and seeing with their own eyes what is happening.

It is not Christianity’s innovation to make the world dependent on faith. The world of humans has always depended on faith because no one can understand everything, even about a single topic. It is the innovation of humans to believe that they, rather than God, are the source of knowledge. And it is this human ‘innovation’ that makes those who do not understand the scientific babble believe in those uttering the scientific babble rather than the evidence of their own eyes.

Christianity has this is about modern science:
    Romans 1:18-23
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man — and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Our world is being brought to the brink of slavery and destruction because humans have turned away from the truth.

  52. @Ann Nonny Mouse

Indeed, according to Eric Zuess in his book “Christ’s Ventriloquists”, it was Paul’s rejection of the bloody Jewish rite of circumcision which jump started his new Christian religion. Prior to Paul, who never met Jesus, there was no separate religion called Christianity. Jesus worshippers were merely a sect within Judaism, which still demanded circumcision.

It was Paul who recognized that, in order for Christianity to flourish, it must separate itself from the Hebrews. The best way to accomplish that, and to gain thousands of new converts, was to no longer require circumcision. Requiring heathen men to sacrifice the tip of their penis in order to join this religion was a bridge too far for them.

Paul popularized the myth of Jesus. Without his rejection of circumcision, Christianity might have died on the vine. With billions around the world still worshipping Jesus two thousand years after his death, Paul was the greatest salesman of all time.

Eric Zuess is a ‘ventriloquist’ for the Jews. The lie that Paul ‘invented’ Christianity is the accusation that Jews brought against Paul from the very beginning. Zuess is just ‘updating’ it.
Of course one must know what Christians say about their faith. Paul of course met the Resurrected Jesus and preached that Salvation comes through the Resurrection of Christ and not through the ‘regulations’ of the Scribes and Pharisees (who “honoureth God with their lips, but their heart is far from God. Howbeit in vain do they worship God, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do”):

“And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed. 12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead” (1 Cor. 15:8-21).

  54. Ron Chapman says: • Website

Pepe Escobar: Jesus was a Palestinian Jew. His followers were overwhelmingly Jews

Ron: This is a superficial analysis. Jesus the Christ was NOT a Hebrew, an Israelite, a Pharisee or a Judahite. Moreover, he was not a Jew because the Khazarian neo-Pharisees only started calling themselves Jews around 1775. Christ Jesus’ mother was of Sumarian stock and his father’s seed was provided by The Gabriel of Nebadon.

The Hebrew culture and religion had been taken over from the Sumarians and made the Hebrew culture and religion. In other words, the Hebrews had appropriated the culture and religion of the Sumarians and proclaimed these newly-found Sumarian accomplishments as their own. In his book, CHRIST WAS NOT A JEW, the author [Jacob Elon Connor] states that the Galileans were descended from the Sumarians and were different from the Judeans to the south. The people of Galilee were not Hebrew but in the course of time had adapted the Hebrew religion. We might even speculate that they had retained some remnants of the long-forgotten religion of Sumaria, the real origin of the Hebrew religion. The Hebrew religion became known as Judaism, and later, actually only in the 18th century were the Judeans called “Jews”. However, since that time translators of the Bible have used the word “Jew” back to the beginning of the Bible using it in place of Judean.

The early leaders of the Hebrew tribe close to the time of their embracing the Sumarian religion knew what they were about. They wrote their history and Biblical stories to conform to their new-found religion, effectively blotting out the history of Sumaria to whom had been given the knowledge of the true God thousands of years before, that Sumaria had ever existed was wholly forgotten.

It can be concluded that the “Jews” knew in Christ’s own time that he was not a “Jew” and have known since then, but it has been a great advantage to the Jewish cause for them to further this belief since it implies a prominent superiority of the Jew over the Christian subconsciously in the minds of Christians, while the Jew himself has continued as a group to despise Christianity.

The Hebrew people were a tribe whose history is known only back a few centuries BC. They were not capable of the high civilization attained by the Sumarians. The religion of Sumaria was akin to Christianity in many aspects.END QUOTE

Pepe Escobar: Jesus focused on the imminence of God’s kingdom. But what did he really mean? The Gospels don’t make it easier. Much of his preaching is inclusive. Yet sometimes he would refer to a “Last Judgment” in which the wicked will be punished and the good will be rewarded.

Ron: The Gospels ‘don’t make it easier’ to understand what Christ Jesus taught because his divine revelations were distorted and corrupted by the Pharisees who not only forced Pilate to crucify Jesus but they also established the Christian religion hoping thereby to corrupt it and eradicate Jesus’ “Good News”. Jesus didn’t incarnate to establish a religion and didn’t. He came to reveal truths lost over millennia and corrupted by Pharisees and others. See eg: Judaism and Christianity – Two Thousand Years of Lies – 60 Years of State Terrorism –—Two-Thousand-Years-of-Lies---60-Years-of-State-Terrorism.shtm

The “Last Judment” crap was just another LIE inserted by Pharisees into their false Christian religion.

Pepe Escobar: Whatever he was really up to, the Powers That Be feared Jesus. After all he was way too popular. And even if he did not advise armed resistance, Power could not but be very worried by a charismatic leader with miraculous attributes dazzling the crowds.

[Ron: This analysis is somewhat misleading. The Pharisees sought to eliminate Jesus and his divine teaching but Pilate apparently didn’t. Hatonn tells us:

From official documents of Historical Records made in the Days of Jesus Christ (the Arckko Volume in the Congressional Library in Washington D.C.). This eye witness, Pontius Pilote, testified “Jesus” did not LOOK, THINK OR ACT like a Jew. You also have to know if you go and get hands on this document that you will find the label “Jesus” to be “explained” as translated “later”. Also were errors made in reference to the “Jews” as translated from “Judeans”. I simply want you to note this material IS IN THE CONGRESSIONAL LIBRARY IN WASHINGTON D.C.! WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN KEPT FROM YOUR EYES AND EARS?

To Tiberius Caesar, Emperor of Rome

    Nobel Sovereign, Greeting:

“….. Among the various rumors that came to my ears there was one in particular that attracted my attention. A young man It was said had appeared in Galilee preaching with a noble unction a new law in the name of the God that had sent him. At first I was apprehensive that his design was to stir up the people against the Romans, but my fears were soon dispelled. Esu (translated ‘Jesus’) of Nazareth spoke rather as friend of the Romans than of the Judeans (erroneously translated ‘Jews’). One day in passing by the place I observed in the midst of the group a young man who was leaning against a tree calmly addressing the multitude. I was told it was “Esu Immanuel”. This I could easily have suspected so great was the difference between him and those listening to him. His golden-colored hair and beard gave to his appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about thirty years of age. Never have I seen a sweeter or more serene countenance. What a contrast between him and his hearers with their black beards and tawny complexions.

“….. Never have I read in the works of the philosophers anything that can compare to the maxims of Esu. One of the rebellious Judeans so numerous in Jerusalem, having asked Esu if it was lawful to give tribute to Caesar, he replied, ‘Render unto Caesar the things that belong to Caesar and unto God the things that are God’s.

“I wrote to Esu requesting an interview with him at the Praetorium. He came. You know that in my veins flows the Spanish mixed with Roman blood as incapable of fear as it is of weak emotion. When the Nazarene made his appearance I was walking in my basilica and my feet seemed fastened with an iron hand to the marble pavement and I trembled in every limb as does a guilty culprit, though the Nazarene was as calm as innocence itself. When he came up to me he stopped and by a signal sign he seemed to say to me, ‘I am here’, though he spoke NOT a word. For some time I contemplated with admiration and awe this extraordinary type of man–a type of man unknown to our numerous painters who have given form and figure to all the Gods and heroes. There was nothing about him that was repelling in its character yet I felt too awed and tremulous to approach him.

” ‘Esu’, said I unto him at last and my tongue faltered, ‘Esu of Nazareth, for the last three years I have granted you ample freedom of speech nor do I regret it. Your words are those of a sage. I know not whether you have read Socrates or Plato, but this I know, there is in your discourses a majestic simplicity that elevates you far above these philosophers.

“….. ‘Your blood shall not be spilt’, said I with deep emotion. ‘You are now precious in my estimation on account of your wisdom, that all the turbulent and proud Pharisees who abuse the freedom granted them by the Romans. They conspire against Caesar and convert his bounty into fear, impressing the unlearned that Caesar is a tyrant and seeks their ruin. Insolent wretches. They are not aware that the wolf of the Tiber sometimes clothes himself with the skin of the sheep to accomplish his wicked designs. I will protect you against them. My praetorium shall be an asylum sacred both day and night!’ Esu carelessly shook his head………. ”

“I am your most obedient servant,

    “Pontius Pilote”

Pepe Escobar: Blowback was instantaneous. The Jewish [Ron” Pharisaic ie Talmudic] priests had to be placated. They feared Roman retaliation. And then Caiaphas saw his opening, telling them – according to the Gospel by John – “it is better for one man to die for the people”.

And that’s how Jesus the Outsider was used as only a pawn in their game to maintain order in Jerusalem.

Ron: I disagree. The Pharisees sought to crucify Jesus in order to eliminate his divine message, namely his ‘Good News’ that incarnation is real and that human beings incarnate here to become ‘only begotten’ (ie unique) sons and daughters of God having an eternal heritage. The Pharisees eliminated from the Bible and their fabricated Christian religion the truth that incarnation is a fundamental mechanism in God’s plan for the evolvement of human beings. By eliminating the truth that EVERY ensouled human being (HUman, ie Higher Universal man) is indwelt by a spark of God consciousness which makes him or her an only begotten son of God, the Pharisees infantalised believers and inculcated the false belief that Jesus was the ONLY son of God and that he had come to sacrifice himself to exculpate the sins of all humans. He didn’t and he couldn’t. Each HUman is sovereign, having free will and a unique personality and hence responsible for his/her own thoughts, actions and inactions. HUmana incarnate to experience physicality FOR the Creator and in so doing they gradually learn to correct their mistakes (sins) and eventually become more Godlike. They then graduate through Creation and meet with the Creator. Thereafter they return to the Creation to assist with its management and administration.

Pepe Escobar: He was now free to enter History as a larger than life Martyr, Savior, and Myth.

[Ron: I disagree. Christ Jesus was a dual incarnation. His physical body was overshadowed by the spirits of Christ Michael Aton (CM), the God of this universe and planet, and Esu Immanuel Kumara who was a created son of CM. Jesus didn’t incarnate to become a ‘Martyr, Savior, and Myth’ and didn’t. Such attributes have been erroneously foisted upon him by Pharisees and others. Jesus came to free us from ignorance and tell us the Good News that death ‘has no sting’ because we are immortal spirits having physical experiences to explore the materium for the Creator and thereby to gradually become Godlike. By concealing the truth from us the Pharisees and neo-Pharisees have infantalised us and corrupted our experiences with the fear of death.

Christ Jesus was not a myth. CM and Esu Immanuel Sananda Kumara returned to this planet in 1954 and CM is presiding over his Millennial Reign which was proclaimed on 5 February 2019. Their presence will become apparent after President Trump is confirmed in the US presidency and this planet experiences a Magnetic Reversal, STANDSTILL and stasis. So be it.

    Peace and Blessings,

  55. Kratoklastes: “In the same way, we have misunderstood Dawkins and conflated memetic reproductive success with truth.”

Dawkins is pretty vague in The Selfish Gene about what a meme is exactly, and how it differs, if at all, from a technique or an ideology. In comparing it to the song of birds, or giving the example of a fashion, a catchphrase, or jingle, he appears to be describing something less elaborate than the latter two. Otoh, he does describe “meme complexes”, similar to co-adapted gene complexes, writing:

Perhaps we could regard an organized church, with its architecture, rituals, laws, music, art, and written tradition, as a co-adapted stable set of mutually-assisting memes.

In that case, the challenge becomes finding anything in culture that isn’t a meme or composed of memes. Using this model, he appears to intend something similar to what Jacques Ellul means by technique, defined as the ensemble of means whereby man obtains what he wants from the world.

Kratoklastes: “Bad ideas that hit the right rhetorical note are to memes, what subsidised reproduction of the bottom quintile is to genes. ”

When I read The Selfish Gene years ago I remember being dissatisfied with his analysis of the topic, and particularly with his concluding paragraphs, in which he appears to support a kind of free will, leading to the potential existence of “true altruism”. Perhaps this is a holdover from his being raised in a Christian culture, but it’s strange to find this in a stalwart atheist such as Dawkins. He also sets up an opposition between memes and genes that I think isn’t true. While it is true that, as he says, celibacy isn’t genetically transmitted in the sense of there being a gene for it, couldn’t it be true that memes (i.e., techniques) are inherently group-selectionist? To me it seems reasonable that a feature of a superior culture (superior in the sense of being more efficient at survival than its opponent cultures) may be a certain amount of celibacy. There is an interaction here between memes and genes that I suspect favors a group selectionist model.

Dawkins goes astray because he hasn’t distinguished clearly the difference between memes as technique and memes as fashion. As techniques, they can make a life or death difference and affect the group’s genes. As fashion, not so much.

    @ Seraphim

I agree that Eric Zuess is a ‘ventriloquist’ for the Jews.

As I understand it, Christ Jesus didn’t incarnate to establish a religion and didn’t. The Pharisees connived with Roman emperors to create the Christian religion in an effort to eradicate Jesus’ divine Revelation by distorting and corrupting his message. They and the neo-Pharisaic Khazars have been very successful, as fear of death permeates our dystopic world. See eg: Judaism and Christianity – Two Thousand Years of Lies – 60 Years of State Terrorism –—Two-Thousand-Years-of-Lies---60-Years-of-State-Terrorism.shtml

Paul distorted Jesus’ message in various ways. For instance he required females to be subservient to males. That was contrary to Jesus’ relationship with Mary Magdalene who counseled the apostles as their equal. He also taught that salvation depended upon accepting the so-called Christian religion which he preached although he apparently allowed for ‘baptism of desire’ by those who never heard the doctrinal hodge podge he promulgated.

But perhaps the biggest Pauline error was his preaching that Salvation comes from the Resurrection of Christ Jesus. It doesn’t and cannot.

Apart from anything else, Jesus didn’t die on the Cross but was resuscitated and recovered with Celestial assistance and was transported to Damascus where he frightened the Bejabbers out of Saul of Tarsus (Paul) before he journeyed to India where he married and had children and lived to about age 115.

Salvation for self has to be achieved by the efforts of each individual. Assuming that a human being can be ‘saved’ (grow to be godlike) by any external force is demeaning and contrary to the sovereignty of each and every individual indwelt by a spark of Creator consciousness. That is why spirits who incarnate have aeons and myriad incarnations in which to achieve it.

Think about it. What would be the point of creating rational free will spirit creatures each of whom is imbued with a unique personality, IF you then deny that free will and personality by “saving” them from their sins (errors) so that they never learn from mistakes and evolve.

both you and follyofwar replying to you talk about very specific practical details.

I’m concerned about the (unwritten) rules behind all things, the meta-physics, which underlie all [sustainable] developments.
As I see it, Christianity put an extra twist in its meta-interpretation -which can at first glance be seen as a weakness-, with which it surpassed Judaism.

Astute demonstration that you are unable to see the forest for the trees, even though you point out so many nicely observed details.

Hint: reflect on the tragic consequences of perfectism.

Always so funny, when someone like you at first lists many clear-sighted observations,
but at the end takes him-/herself completely out of the discussion by undershooting even the 90IQ minds with drivel such as “eugenic cull.”

    G’day Seraphim,

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Ad hominem is not discourse.
The Pharisees corrupted Christ Jesus’ message that God is love and that love IS the only reality. They infused their atheistic/materialistic denial of reincarnation (which eliminates spirit from the human equation) into Christian religious doctrine and for good measure they inserted the concept of Hell to reinforce the fear of death thus created.
The result is the absurd paradox under which Christians are supposed to worship God:
“so God can save them from what he’s going to do to them IF they don’t worship him.”
A Veryyy Talmudic idea I think most people would agree.

Not true… If you read Ephesians chapter 2 or Romans chapter 11 in their context – Paul (his name never changed from Saul – that is just the translators) states that it is the Gentiles now who were brought into the family or tree of Israel.

”My Kingdom is not of this world”.

“Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did [the multiplication of the five loaves and two fishes], said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to MAKE HIM A KING, he departed again into a mountain himself alone… They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day… I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever” (John 6).
