“Never allow a good crisis (to) go to waste. It’s an opportunity to do the things you once thought were impossible.”

Thus did chief of staff Rahm Emanuel advise Barack Obama on the financial crisis he inherited in 2009.

Following the Capitol riot by a mob of pro-Donald Trump protesters, the left took Rahm’s counsel, seizing upon and exploiting the episode ever since to paint the right as America’s safe harbor for “domestic terrorism.”

According to leftist columnists and commentators, going back to the ’60s, the real threat of domestic terrorism has always come from the right.

That is not, however, how some of us remember those days.

The most destructive acts of violence in the ’60s were the urban race riots that began in Harlem in July 1964, when 15-year-old black youth James Powell was shot by a police lieutenant.

In 1965, Watts blew up, followed by Newark and Detroit in 1967.

In 1968, 100 U.S. cities exploded in racial violence after Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis on April 4.

Anti-war riots followed the urban riots, beginning with an attack on the Pentagon in October 1967 and the occupation of Columbia University in 1968. That August, leftists ignited a riot at the Democratic Convention that nominated Hubert Humphrey in Chicago.

After President Richard Nixon took office in 1969, a mass anti-war protest in Washington, D.C., spun off a mob that trashed the Department of Justice. A riot at Kent State in May 1970 precipitated the killing of four students by the Ohio National Guard, and follow-on riots on scores of campuses that shut down higher education for the rest of that spring semester.

That same year, terrorists in a Greenwich Village townhouse blew themselves up with a 2,000-pound bomb they were making to massacre noncommissioned officers and their wives and girlfriends at a dance at Fort Dix, New Jersey. This was followed two months later by an explosion that blew up the mathematics building at the University of Wisconsin, killing a father of three.

As Nixon speechwriter Ray Price recorded in his memoir, between Jan. 1, 1969, and April 15, 1970, “More than 40,000 bombings, attempted bombings and bomb threats, were recorded in the United States.

“In the 1969-1970 school year there were 1782 demonstrations, 7561 arrests, 8 people killed, and 462 injured, (299 of those injured were police). There were 247 cases of campus arson and 282 attacks on ROTC facilities.”

The criminals responsible for this carnage were leftists.

What about 2020, the year of mass protests that followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.

According to the London Daily Mail, with the riots, arson and looting that began in Minneapolis spreading to Portland, Seattle and 140 other cities, the National Guard was called out in 21 states, six people died, scores of police were injured and between $1 billion and $2 billion in property was damaged or destroyed.

According to insurance company figures, it was the costliest urban violence since the LA riot of 1992, when a Simi Valley jury acquitted the four cops involved in the beating of Rodney King.

Other forms of “domestic terrorism” are far more common but all too frequently ignored because we Americans have come to take them for granted.

As Heather Mac Donald wrote in The Wall Street Journal just days ago:

“The year 2020 likely saw the largest percentage increase in homicides in American history. Murder was up nearly 37% in a sample of 57 large and medium-sized cities. Based on preliminary estimates, at least 2,000 more Americans, most of them black, were killed in 2020 than in 2019.

ORDER IT NOW

“Dozens of children, overwhelmingly black, were killed in drive-by shootings. They were slain in their beds, living rooms and strollers. They were struck down at barbecues, in their yards, in malls, in their parents’ cars, and at birthday parties. Fifty-five children were killed in Chicago in 2020, 17 in St. Louis, and 11 in Philadelphia.”

While the riot was taking place at the Capitol, where a cop and four protesters lost their lives, less-noted lethal events were happening all over America in the first days of the new year. Writes Mac Donald:

“The anarchy of 2020 has continued into 2021. Shootings in South Los Angeles rose 742% in the first two weeks of the year. In Oakland, homicides were up 500% and shootings up 126% through Jan. 17. In New York, murders were up 42% and shooting victims up 15% through Jan. 17.”

The truth: The vast majority of criminals who rob, rape, shoot and kill Americans in the tens of thousands each year, and the people who did almost all of the rioting, looting, arson and assaults on cops in 2020, never wore MAGA hats.

Pas d’ennemis a gauche. No enemies on the left. The enemy is always to be found on the right. And because reality contradicts this central tenet of liberal ideology, it cannot ever be conceded.

Patrick J. Buchanan is the author of “Nixon’s White House Wars: The Battles That Made and Broke a President and Divided America Forever.”

  1. Everyone paying attention to what has been happening in the U.S. for the last four years, KNOWS, POSITIVELY KNOWS, that 95 percent of all violence has come from the left. Thus, the spectacle of thousands of troops surrounding the capitol building to supposedly protect politicians from people on the political right, is one of the most absurd and hypocritical farces that has ever occurred in the history of the U.S. between rival political entities.

  2. When the history of the 2020s is written by the progtards in the 2030s, there will have only been one riot in the entire decade. Three cheers to the Congressional heros of 1/6 who faced down the menacing rightist insurrection.

Future generations have a better chance of getting the truth when the ChiComs re-write history in the 2040s.

    Great essay!

While the riot was taking place at the Capitol, where a cop and four protesters lost their lives,

The four Trump supporters were the only ones that died at the Capitol building. The cop died at the police station. It was originally reported that he collapsed and died due to injuries sustained at the Capitol building, but an autopsy remains elusive – he could’ve died from friendly fire for all we know.

It’s not much of an insurrection if only the insurrectionists get killed.

  4. ‘Domestic Terrorist’ should be a title expanded to all Trump supporters as a scarlet letter barring them from future employment or the accessing of public utilities like roads and running water.

  5. I refuse to back down and be intimmidated by such rhetoric. It is a form of a psy-op. It is the establishment who have been terrorizing the country in broad daylight with the scamdemic demanding not to be called terrorists, while they are terrorizing us! No need to open any secret investigations! They are doing it right out in the open! Obviously, they are trying to insist that if we talk about domestic terrorists, that we will be responsible for their actions, which is not true! They are terrorists! I am not asking anyone to increase surveillance, in fact, I am demanding that the terrorists start abiding by the constitution! The constitution places clear boundaries on the governments, corporations, and individuals which demand that the rights of the individual are not violated! The constitution also guarantees the rights of individuals in its amendments. I do not give a damn if they object to being called terrorists while they have been and still are terrorizing me!

The overwhelming majority of what is now defined as “domestic terrorism” has been committed by the Jewish led political left since the 1960’s. This Jewish insurgency against Western civilization and the white race which has waxed and waned since the 1960’s is now more threatening then ever especially since we will likely have a Jewish head of the DHS and Jewish AG.

As the black population and to a lesser extent Latinos wage bongo parties in most major U.S. cities the rotund Jewish governor of Illinois sternly reminds us that real threat comes from (white) racists, white supremacists and domestic terrorists (white males who aren’t leftist pajama boys). Meanwhile, car jackings are up 135% in Chicongo with almost 100% of those committed by blacks and theirs dozens of shootings committed every weekend, also committed almost entirely by blacks.

How many of those “bombs” actually exploded? As Nixon escalated the war in Vietnam to include Cambodia and Laos ( his “secret plan for ending the war”) the US citizens’ reactions were completely understandable. The USA dropped more tonnage of bombs on Vietnam than it did on Europe in all of WW2. And it wasn’t just regular bombs but napalm, cluster bombs and vast quantities of the defoliant “agent orange.” Use of the previous 3 types of bombs constituted a war crime. How many innocent civilians were killed is unknown. Being Nixon’s number one toady at that time, I’m sure that Pat approved.

  10. I am saddened, Mr. Buchanan, that we lost your true voice years ago, after you were destroyed, along with Joseph Sobran, by William Buckley, when he devoted an entire issue of the National Review to castigate the two most important voices in our country, as anti-semites. This was a calamity from which we, the American people, have never recovered.

Even now, you cannot, due to your defenestration by Mr. Buckley, identify in print the true villains in the destruction of the United States. You castigate the Democrats and the left — all perfectly justifiable and warranted, but without any real teeth or ultimate truth — for our sorry situation. The old Pat Buchanan would not have been so shy about identifying Jewish interests and the globalization movement that they hold so dear as the real authors of our destruction. I speak as an American Jew who has a conscience, a pretty rare bird in this demented age. I am loyal to the United States, not to Israel or to the Jews. The Jews in this country were long criticized as having dual loyalties, to both Israel and to the United States. The truth of the matter is that the Jews of America have one loyalty and that is to Israel. As I learned as a child, everything should be viewed through the prism of “Is it good for the Jews?” Thus, American interests always take a back seat to the Jewish project, which is globalism. Globalism serves Jewish financial interests and it also defeats nationalism, which was Trump’s greatest calling card. Trump was deluded into believing that the Jews were his friends. We now see the result of all that. He was lucky to escape to Mar a Lago with at least his underwear still intact. The rest of his empire as well as his delusions of grandeur stolen away by these monstrous people who are controlling our country and its institutions.

Please get your voice back, Mr. Buchanan. People who love America miss you.

the US citizens’ reactions were completely understandable. The USA dropped more tonnage of bombs on Vietnam than it did on Europe in all of WW2.

and the point was not to win the war decisively, but rather to keep it going indefinitely, (just like today!)

I also winced when I noticed Buchannan conflating the orcs rampaging with the perfectly understandable and noble goal of ending the war in Viet Nam.

It’s just a shame that there are no leftists of integrity or honor who oppose today’s Eternal Wars for Israel, because opposing those wars are not popular with Hollywood celebrities.

Robert De Nero soils his Depends every time Trump’s name is mentioned, but has never said one word in opposition to the Eternal Wars for Israel.

Leonardo and Clooney bleed buckets out of their eyes over ‘Global Warming’, but have never heard of a drone attack they didn’t like to stay silent about.

So as long as vapid Hollywood celebrities don’t care, why should the progressive left?

But by conflating the rampaging goons in Detroit – to the genuine and decent people protesting the Viet Nam war, Buchannan blurs the lines between what’s ignoble (burning cities and raping and murdering), with what’s noble (protesting mass-slaughter for the profit of MIC war pigs and their political whores).

you were destroyed, along with Joseph Sobran, by William Buckley,

    Rest in Peace ~ Joe

    Rot in Hell- Buckley

a more poignant lament of two men’s respective worth as human beings, is hard to even imagine.

In the diaspora, the Zionists always operate from the Big Government left. Hence, the Jewish occupied media frames the terrorists as coming from the bourgeoisie right as we are seeing today, and the lawless, left-wing criminals as documented by Buchanan here as the “good guys.”

Israel-first Jewish string-puller Rahm Emanuel instructed Obama on how to take advantage of the 2009 financial crisis to set up policies that ended up serving the wealthy Jewish elite and further bankrupting average Americans, again working for the Zionist cause from the left.

Ignorant blacks in bed with these Zionists — just like the ignorant whites who allowed themselves to be seduced by the snake ((neocons)) who were behind the Jewish “War on Terror” for Israel — are going to end up enslaving themselves. The authentic right recognized the War on Terror as a Jewish inside job and hence a Satanic Big Jew/Big Government racket. The phony and corrupt “right” walked right into the Jewish scam.

Just as the “War on Terror” has come home to declare war on whites, so to will Jewry eventually declare war on black useful idiots, consistent with their Zionist beliefs that they’re under the “curse of Ham” from the Hebrew Bible and thus destined to be slaves.

Ignorant rubes who get in bed with Jewry on its Satanic, totalitarian Zionist agenda from the left or the “right” are the truly cursed, but like Pavlov’s dogs, they come running when the Jews ring the bell.

  18. @Rurik

Hello again Rurik. Is there a better example of republican supplication to the enemy than lifetime politician mumbles McConnell keeping his job as their leader after he was chiefly responsible for losing the Senate? Just as Paul Ryan did the first two years, McConnell worked to defeat Trump’s agenda, the last straw being his refusal to consider the $2000 per person stimulus that Trump wanted. I was personally opposed to it, but the stimulus was popular among the people. Now we’re going to get it under Biden anyway.

The republicans should make McConnell a back bencher and vote in a younger, more articulate Senator to take his place. There are plenty who qualify, starting with Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, and Ted Cruz. However, losers that they are, they’ll stick with McConnell, who is no match for the despicable Jewish radical Chuck Schumer. That’s the way the GOP leadership is. Most are a bunch of losers who’d rather be in the minority than have Trump continue as their president for another term.

  23. @follyofwar

I think that liberals are basically the behavioral descendants of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Their ingroup-outgroup morality mostly consisted of focusing on the familial ingroup while the competing outgroup(s) – other tribes – was either an enemy or a potential reproductive resource. The size of tribes was limited by natural constraints.

Whereas conservatives, descendants of townsfolk – people who made things, farmed, etc. – had outgroups of hunter-gatherer tribes and other towns. The settlements, with their ability to produce and not just forage, could grow to have quite large populations and to kill off, or even incorporate, nearby tribes and conquer other settlements. The drive for some rulers of settlements to rule over former outgroup individuals eventually
led to the settlement’s ingroup-outgroup morality becoming not only about different tribes but also about the behaviors of those individuals, who before were slaughtered, such as stealing and freeloading.

So the liberal ingroup essentially looks at conservatives as the outgroup, while the conservative ingroup has a more complex morality that looks at liberal behaviors as the outgroup.

Virtually no one wants to live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle but most hunter-gatherer types want to live a townsfolk lifestyle, and, at the same time, keep their hunter-gatherer behaviors.

    the GOP leadership

I know a guy who’s sort of familiar with Republicans, at least at the state level, and he describes them as guided like a laser at what they perceive to be their self-interest, and any notions of the wider good or representing their constituents is a hysterical joke, that they no doubt belly laugh at when they’re among themselves.

They’re also very much a hierarchical type, all aligned like a human centipede behind their leadership, which has the power to raise them up in the ranks with perks galore, or ‘cast them down’, as the case may be, depending on their respective fealty to the same leadership.

Paul Ryan doesn’t give a rat’s ass if he personally was responsible for the death of this Republic, so long as he’ll be slurping shekels in grandiose style into old age, as Wisconsin and the nation descends into a hell on earth.

None of them care. American politics today seems to be geared towards the very worst human beings our nation can vomit up from the depths.

Ted Cruz puts Israel first, second and third. Rand Paul has hope, so long as he remembers who his father is. The only thing I know about Hawley, is he distinguished himself by calling Biden’s “win”, the fraud it obviously was.

I’m sort of at the point where I’m pining for AI to take over. I’m hoping that artificial intelligence will become self-aware, and realize what malignant scum human politicians are, and set about saving the planet from them.

    Or aliens, or something!

Perhaps the Christ/Messiah/Second Coming.. will smite / burn the ‘Holy land’/Satan into a crisp, and the rest of humanity will prosper and frolic in happiness and peace into the foreseeable future..

Or, we’ll just continue down the slog of despair, as we’re all betrayed and sold out by the ruling class, and descend into an Orwellian mind-fuck of hatred, war and misery.. orchestrated by our ((friends)), and dutifully implemented by those soulless whores in congress.

    Yea, probably something like that.

Mr. Buchanan’s state of mind has been ‘bolted together’ through learning experiences which by this point in his life–absent a revelation–no one should expect him to ‘unlearn’.

Louis Armstrong, the famous jazzman, was raised as an orphan in the toughest ward in New Orleans, yet upon being asked how he managed to escape that childhood fate, replied “You either hear the music or you don’t.”

Mr. Buchanan never experienced any of the last words uttered by our 67,000 dead in Vietnam. Hence without any real waypoints, Mr. Buchanan to this day, here, simply continues playing his semantical ‘what-if’ scenarios. Nothing was ever real to him, and that’s a hard thing to unlearn at his age.

The illuminati staged a mass ritual on 1/6 at the Capitol Building. Blood sacrifices are necessary parts of their mass rituals. Occultists believe that the number 5 means death. The Pentagon has 5 sides, 5 corners, 5 concentric buildings all 5 stories high with an inner courtyard of 5 acres. A 5 star general is the highest rank. They are 5 pointed stars. The Washington monument is 555′ tall and has many other 5s.

  37. The leftists politicians and the controlled media are building up this mass ritual as an insurrection. They are saying that Trump fired a cannon at the Capitol Building and the politicians bravely survived this attack. The supposed cannon consisted of the people at Trump’s rally. How many are going to believe this “brave” politician narrative? The real insurrection happened when Netanyahu addressed the Congress. The video is amazing.

Damn, I always considered my lucky number to be 5. My favorite baseball player wore number 5, Brooks Robinson, The Human Vacuum Cleaner covered the hot corner like no other before him and since he hung up his spikes. Should I change my lucky number to 7 now?

Arabs. That’s the whole point of negotiating recognition of Israel with the gulf states and the KSA, all enemies of Iran and the Shiite Muslim minority. It used to be oil in exchange for US military and diplomatic support. Now it is Israel’s security in exchange for Israeli military training and weapons supplied by the US. Good business for the US, no more American carnage. The Arabs got tons of money for fancy weapons but lack the expertise to use them. Enter Israel. This has been the plan of the US/UK since WW2, an Israeli/Saudi Alliance, both countries controlling the holiest sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Iran is pushed into the role of a major threat to peace to facilitate the union of Arab states under Israeli military and scientific hegemony.

The punchline in this video is at 53:24 if it doesn’t cue up properly … looking past the Rev. Farrakhan’s misinformed history, this was some world class numerology …

BTW, remember all that spouting about the difference between how black and White protest marches are treated? This was a peaceful black protest march, and very few cops, much less any cordon lines, keeping the black Folk off the Capitol steps.

Pajama boys and girls are interesting, in the sense that they are infuriating.

A pajama heshe can study law, become a lawyer, but then when you poke them to discuss the differences between Roman law, the law of custom, Sharia law, Talmudic law etc.. they turn, balk, and attack you.

It’s so frustrating being amongst self described intellectuals, who refuse to step outside the Overton window.

Actually, the top of the domestic terrorist organization are the members of the Fed Gov – the Congress, the Executive and the Supreme Court.

Numerology and occultism is B.S. They are important, because powerful people believe in that and signal their intentions before acting. So in a way their signals are predictive.

Yes, those are some of the top members of the Deep State…as are also many of the billionaires and large corporate heads.

My comment was to address those who actually commit acts of terrorism.

  47. Oh, and Mr. Buchanan and others….do you mean the left of today, the war-loving neo-liberals who hate white people even though most of them are white (Rachel MadCow comes to mind), or do you mean the old left, the true left, the left who supported the working class regardless of race, who supported Jock Yoblansky’s reforming the UMW and the Tony Boyle and co. had him whacked, the left that was anti-war…and NO VIETNAM WAR protest I ever attended was “violent,” and the old left that actually meant something and stood for something, regardless of race, religion, etc., the old left that did not hate white people, especially white males?

And you do remember after 9-11 how “the right” aka the neo-cons wanted everyone who wasn’t Israel first and everyone who didn’t hate Muslims banned or jailed or silenced…. Like, weren’t you one of those AIPAC and the “we’re an empire now and we create our own reality” crowd wanted banned, jailed, and silenced?

Stop the left vs. right, Republican vs. Democrat garbage…the enemy is the Fed Gov, the tech oligarchs that own the govt. and its minions, regardless of race, color and creed! And yes, the bankster oligarchs that also control the tech oligarchs (Rothschilds, etc.)

We shouldn’t forget Timothy McVeigh. The Unabomber cannot be categorized right or left. The tag left and right no longer helps distinguish anything. It’s us versus power elite, shills in government, corporate toadies, tech moguls, and bankster fat cats. They enjoy the incredible lightness of being, we are to do what we are told.

Indeed. So that South Vietnam could be imported to Houston for purposes of every fraudulent activity there necessary to achieving financial dominance, whereby streets in Houston are now named after Vietnamese “immigrants–instead of the american soldiers who died on behalf of bringing Charlie’s inhumanity home to the United States.

It’s you, Pat. Don’t you know?

You helped betray America under Nixon welcoming China; Nixon versus Cambodia/Vietnam (58,000 Americans dead). And now, for a few coins more, you sell nonsense to the crowd. Have you no shame?
