Did President Donald Trump launch his Twitter barrage at Elijah Cummings simply because the Baltimore congressman was black?

Was it just a “racist” attack on a member of the Black Caucus?

Or did Trump go after Cummings after a Saturday Fox News report that his district was in far worse condition than the Mexican border area for which Cummings had demagogically berated Border Patrol agents?
Here are Trump’s crucial tweets:

“Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA…

“…the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. (Cummings’) District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

The Fox News report that triggered Trump’s tweets featured a Maryland Republican strategist, Kimberly Klacik, whose videos showed piles of trash and abandoned homes in Baltimore. “A lot of people said he (Cummings) hasn’t even been there in a while,” Klacik claimed.

And Trump, it appears, has more ammunition than that.

Baltimore in 2018 was the murder capital of America and ranked second among her most violent major cities. With St. Louis and Detroit, Baltimore is always at or near the top of the list of the most dangerous American cities.

And what has Cummings, in office 28 years, done to alter that awful reputation?

As for the presence of rats and rodents, Baltimore has competitors.

There have lately been news reports of the homeless in LA and San Francisco living on city sidewalks, defecating where they sleep, attracting rodents and vermin, with little or nothing done about it.

Is it racist to call attention to the decline of so many of America’s great cities that have long been under liberal Democratic rule?

Over this weekend, while Trump was tweeting, nine people were shot dead in Chicago and 39 wounded. Sounds like Baghdad or Kabul.

Is this the new normal that Americans must accept?

A prediction: The incidence of murders, rapes, robberies and assaults in urban America, which saw a steep decline in the last three decades, is about to rise again.

Why? Because the attitudes and policies that produced these sinking rates of crime and violence — especially the dramatic increase in the incarceration of criminals in America — are changing.

In 1980, some 500,000 criminals were in federal and state prisons and jails. By 2016, some 2.2 million inmates were in jails and prisons and another 4.5 million convicts were on parole or probation, being monitored.

As violent criminals were taken off the streets and put behind bars for years, crime fell, and most dramatically in cities like New York, where the backing of cops and intolerance of criminals by mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg was the most pronounced.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans were not victimized by crimes in the last three decades because their would-be perpetrators were behind bars. But today, a campaign is afoot to reduce prison populations and use more progressive methods to deal with crime.

Ex-Vice President Joe Biden, who, as a senator and a chairman of the Judiciary Committee, played a role in taking criminals off the streets, seems almost apologetic about what he and the “law and order” Republicans of those decades accomplished.

And the mindset that put first the right of the innocent to be free from domestic violence is vanishing. A recent video of NYPD cops being doused with pails of water as they made their rounds in Harlem has gone viral. The number of applicants for police training programs is dropping. Verbal assaults on “white racist cops” have taken a toll on police morale.

We seem to be drifting back to the 1960s, when crime began to soar and “law and order” began to surge as a national issue.

That issue helped Barry Goldwater capture the nomination from a Republican establishment that had controlled his party for decades.

In 1966, Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan ran as a law and order candidate for governor and routed the liberal incumbent by a million votes.

In 1968, Richard Nixon ran as the law and order candidate, which helped him to stave off George Wallace and defeat Hubert Humphrey, whose Democratic Party was almost twice the size as the GOP.

In 1988, Democratic nominee Gov. Michael Dukakis’ prospects for the presidency vanished when he indicated he would not impose capital punishment, even on a criminal who had raped and murdered his wife.

Calling out the urban liberals who run most of America’s cities, for their failure to make those cities more livable and safe, might be a winning issue for Trump in 2020.

Is this where Trump is headed? Is it a coincidence that Attorney General Bill Barr just said he will begin imposing the death penalty?

The First Step Act doesn’t exactly strike a blow for law and order. Neither does a collapsing southern border which Trump vowed to secure “on day one”. What Trump says in his circus like rallies and tweets isn’t always what he does in practice and under FSA more felons are being released than were freed under Obama.

Pat always thinks that it’s 1964 or 1968 all over again and that American history will repeat itself now exactly like it did then.

  5. Trump is trying to have it both ways as our border remains open and he lets felons out of prison he makes some tweets that make the anti establishment cheer.

Also while not defending liberal gov’ts in San Fransisco and LA homelessness is on the rise because we have a horrible economy and an opiate problem that Trump isn’t doing anything about. It’s a national issue that effects Warm coastal cities more because that is where the homeless like to congregate.

“A Congressman from Nebraska” does not represent Baltimore.

Cumming’s Congressional District includes much of Baltimore city and into Baltimore and Howard counties.

  10. At first I wondered, like many white folk and everybody at FoxNews, just what might be racist in Trump’s statement. Then, since I self-identify from time-to-time as Black to give myself a leg up, I looked at it with my black eyes:

“If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

There it is, in plain sight: DJT is telling a PoC to go back to the shithole from which he comes.

SF is not full of white liberals. It is not even 50% white. So, let me illuminate you.

    1. urban white liberals will make a great urban zone if they are 90-100% of the population-for a while & at the outset.

    2. but, because they are urban liberals, i.e. by definition not ethnically self-conscious & nationalist, they are socio-political idiots & they will start importing alien, non-white races & even worse, start miscegenating with them & hand them reigns of power.

    3. then, their well-ordered city will turn into shithole. Because:

    a) blacks can not make any urban area livable

    b) mestizos can not make any urban area functioning, clean & crime-free

    c) east Asians can not make any urban area anything different from an anthill & zombie-robotic dystopia from horror movies.

    There you are.

Look, why would any black man with a bit of coin want to live anywhere other than a white area.

Dear Readers, why do you unfairly criticize these good men of impeccable moral standing. You call them names like race hustlers, rabblerousers, parasites and scum usually flavoured with that F### and N##### word. This is unfair especially when you combine the F and N words.

I fail to understand why anyone is mad at them for exploiting their own, wearing $2000 outfits, driving expensive Euro cars and living in multi million dollar cribs while their own people live in diseased, crime and rodent infested slums.

I mean, anyone stupid enough to elect or have these people as leaders deserve what they get.

    – Facts:
Opiate prescriptions have lessened and the economy is much better under Trump.

    – I guess the homeless problems in coastal cities like NYC, Philadelphia, & Boston are because of their ‘warm climates’.

    – It’s hard to close the border to illegal aliens when leftist judges prevent it.

    – Letting non-violent criminals out a bit early seems reasonable & cost effective to me as long as they do not have long records. Which is what Trump has done in some cases.

    – The alternative to Trump was Hillary.

    – The alternatives to Trump now are anti euro-white Communists.

  19. @Renoman

I laugh when I hear commentators like El Rushbo and Hannity say that the entire problem stems from years of democrat control, with the ensuing graft, mismanagement, and coddling of criminals. If only they had been intelligent enough to elect Republican mayors, Sigh.

While GOP governance would surely have made a dent in the problem (as demonstrated by Giuliani in NYC), as long as 80% single motherhood among blacks remains the the norm, it wouldn’t have been much more than a dent. And, as long as cesspools like Baltimore remain overwhelmingly black, they will be violent and filthy. Civ Nats like the two I mentioned above, who worship at the altar of GDP growth and the fast-fading GOP, fail to say where the problem really lies. But I don’t blame them. Even they must be politically correct if they want to keep their jobs.

  20. @Renoman

Indeed we do but any attempts at restoring law and order will be shouted down as white supremacy and a campaign to mass incarcerate “innocent” black and Latino men. And this message will resonate will nearly half the woke or semi-woke masses of asses.

Regarding Baltimore, apparently the murder rate in Guatemala is half of Baltimore’s so I say we ship the groids to Guatemala and the Guats to Baltimore. We’ll call it groids for Guats. We’ll tell the Guat government that they’re getting the better deal since the groid population will help them qualify and possibly medal in Olympic sports like track and field and basketball. Not only that but the groids will make Guatemala even more vibrant than it is now.

    • Replies: @Currahee
  31. The problem with the issue of Law and Order in America has to do with the idolatry of Black and Magic.

Blacks commit the most crime, and the most logical thing is to get tough with the Negroes.
But blacks are also ‘magical’ and holy-schmoly(according to the official narrative and iconography), and we must pretend every year is all about TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD and Emitt Till.

Now, if white thugs and louts committed the most crime(especially with non-whites being as their primary victims), then law and order issue would be a good sell. Whites and non-whites could both get behind fighting white criminality and thuggery.

But the fact is blacks are the main thugs in the US, and they cause most problems. Reality says blacks are thugs, but the narrative and ‘idology’ say blacks are innocents, saints, and magical holy folks. We are still stuck in Civil Rights narrative.

This is why Law and Order issues are problematic. It’s not because people are against law and order; people certainly aren’t pro-crime. The problem is the ONLY way law and order can win is by getting hard on black thuggery, but this violates the narrative and ‘idology’ of Negroes as magical folks and innocent victims of ‘racism’, sheeeeeiiit.

“It’s okay to be white” was yesteryear. We need “Blacks are NOT magical.”

-– It’s hard to close the border to illegal aliens when leftist judges prevent it.

How many divisions does a lower District Court or Appeals Court have to enforce its decisions?

Seriously, if Trump had cajones, he’d force the SCOTUS to take up the issue of policing out-of-control lower Federal courts, and things like this would be poster-child examples for making Judicial Reform issue number one in 2020.

Trump: “We’ve tried, but hey, how can we make America great again when a rogue judge is there to block every single step you, the people, want taken?”

Trump puts the interests of Israel ahead of the interests of the USA.

Trump wants to flood the USA with mass legal immigration “in the largest numbers ever.”

Trump refuses to deport the upwards of 30 million illegal alien invaders in the USA.

Trump is pushing mass legal immigration and mass illegal immigration.

Mass legal immigration and mass illegal immigration lowers wages, increases housing costs, swamps schools, overwhelms hospitals, harms the environment, causes suburban and urban sprawl, creates multicultural mayhem, destroys cultural cohesion and brings crime and infectious diseases and Islamic terrorism to the USA.

We had enough problems before 1965. We didn’t need to change the immigration laws to allow millions of unassimilable, congenital Leftist immigrants from the Third World to pour into our country, increasing the population from about 250 million to well over 330 million and destroying any kind of social cohesion. The American people were never asked about (this and so much else of what you recite above). If it were up to me, I would put a moratorium on ALL immigration for at least 20 years (much as we did between about 1922 and 1965) while we at least make an attempt to assimilate the millions who have arrived over the past 50 years.

Hillary won counties in every state but West Virginia and Oklahoma, and Alaska which doesn’t have counties. Trump won counties in every state but Massachusetts and Hawaii.

They even managed to split both Delaware and Rhode Island, which have only three and five counties, respectively.

This map is mostly city mouse vs. country mouse. The rare “blue” rural areas are either minority-dominated, or packed with odd whites– hippies in the Berkshires, greens in the Greens, old Reds around Lake Superior.

Trump’s gains in the UP, the Driftless, and southern West Virginia are significant, if they can be held after him.

West Virginia is quite interesting. In most non-Trump races, the GOP does better the closer you get to DC. That’s the opposite of most states in the region.
