By Thursday, the targets of the mailed pipe bombs had risen to nine: George Soros, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, John Brennan, Eric Holder, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Joe Biden and Robert De Niro.

That list contains four of the highest-ranking officials of Barack Obama’s administration: the president himself, his vice president, his secretary of state and his attorney general.

Yet, by Thursday morning, there was heartening news.

Not one of the mailed bombs had reached its target. Not one handler of a mailed bomb had been injured. Not one bomb had exploded.

Several of the bombs were said to be deficient. While they contained elements of pipe bombs, with shards of glass and powder, there was no trigger to ignite an explosion.

Were these devices simply poorly made, or did the bomber intend not to wound or kill, but simply to cause a panic?

As of this writing, we don’t know. Moreover there is this oddity: All of the bombs had the same return address — that of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who was ousted as leader of the DNC when hacked DNC emails revealed she had tilted the party machinery to defeat Hillary Clinton’s principal rival in the primaries, Bernie Sanders.

Was putting Wasserman Schultz’s return address on all the bomb packages some kind of joke?

What was going on here?

Beltway residents, however, did not need to look far to learn who inspired and motivated the would-be mass-murderer of our liberal elite. In a front-page story headlined, “Subjects of Trump’s ire in bomb-maker’s sights,” The Washington

Post identified the suspect:

“(A) common theme among the targets was unmistakable. Each has been a recurring subject of Trump attacks.”

The Post elaborated. Trump has called Democrats “evil.” Trump has denounced Obama’s presidency. Trump has “demonized Hillary Clinton, inspiring chants of ‘Lock her up!'” Trump has “used his bully pulpit to taunt Maxine Waters … as a ‘low IQ individual.'”

Trump has impugned ex-CIA Director John Brennan and fanned “conspiracy theories about George Soros.” Trump has called the news media “the enemy of the people.” Trump has singled out CNN’s reporting as “fake news.”

What the Post was implying was that Trump at his rallies had done the target acquisition for the bomber who intended to maim or murder the leading lights of liberalism and enemies of Trumpism.

If one missed the point on Page 1, the headline over the balance of the story inside the Post drove it home: “Amid incendiary rhetoric, targets of Trump’s words become bombs’ targets.”

The correlation between Trump’s targets and the bomber’s targets is no accident, comrade, the Post is saying.

Yet, as of late Thursday, still, no bomb had exploded. And what had been called bombs were being called “suspicious packages.” And the person or persons who made and mailed them had yet to be identified.

But still the attacks on Trump and the calls to hold him morally culpable for the bombs, because of his rhetoric, went on unabated.

Said Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, jointly responding to the president’s call for civility in Wisconsin: Trump’s “words ring hollow until he reverses his statements that condone acts of violence.”

This is not the first time a political atrocity has been to exploited to wound political enemies.

Though Lee Harvey Oswald was a Communist who had defected to the Soviet Union, the city of Dallas, then a conservative stronghold, was indicted by the media for having “created the atmosphere” in which JFK was assassinated.

In the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing, the media blamed the anti-government rhetoric of conservative talk radio for poisoning the minds of extremists like Timothy McVeigh.

Guilt by association seems a more common recourse of the left.

When members of the Republican Congressional baseball team were shot and wounded at their morning practice, no major GOP figure blamed Bernie Sanders, though the would-be mass murderer was one of Bernie’s volunteers.

“Democracy dies in darkness,” reads the motto of The Washington Post. But democracy dies in other ways as well.

Democracy dies when the divisions in a society become so bitter and rancorous that a segment of that society becomes so estranged it decides that it would rather leave and live apart.

With their endless charges of racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia America’s elite has let Trump’s “base” know what it thinks of them.

And at his rallies, where Trump’s mockery of that elite and its media allies evokes hoots and cheers, Middle America is telling our cultural and political establishment what it thinks of them.

Before we were a democracy, we were a republic. And we were always more than just a polity. We were a people and a nation.

Today we seem to be two countries and two peoples.

And if that is true, a political system based on majority rule is not going to be strong enough to hold us together indefinitely.

DEMOCRATS SEND BOMBS TO TOP DEMOCRATS—VERY CAREFULLY, MAKING SURE THEY DON’T REALLY EXPLODE.

    Thanks, Sir.

    Who dunnit?

Methinks it is the Dems who did it. Could be Judaists. They are the smartest false-flaggies around. It is in their jeans, they say.

Them DEMs are getting desperate and are going to lose in the mid terms too, so this false flag to fool the public and whip up the base into a frenzy.

  2. As an exponent of the real left, not the make-believe yankee democrat version, I would say it looks like some sort of staged bullshit.

  3. MEexpert says:

Bombs made not to explode. A George Soros funded hoax to gain sympathy for the democrats in the midterm elections. Simple enough.

  4. Realist says:

Did Trump Goad and Guide the Pipe Bomber?

What pipe bomber? A bomb of any style has to be capable of exploding. There was no chance these things would explode. Probably the work of a Democrat trying to affect the coming election.

  6. “two countries and two peoples” the seeds for a future civil war appear to be germinating. Whereas the 19th century the lead up to and the actual hot civil war had a mostly nice clear North/South divide line. – A future civil war could be block by block, city by city, city to countryside. Potentially more bloody and vicious with no possible reconcilation save permnent divison as individuals will be forced to migrate to their new zones wherever they may be.

I think the English civil war is a better model for the coming war-that was also a case of the Oligarchs inciting ideological radicals against the country, and ended with brother against brother, father against son, neighbor against neighbor.

  8. Iberiano says:
    @Simonsays451

I think that is what will happen. It will not be a “civil war” in the traditional sense, but more of a geo-racio war in which most of the country is divided up along already set racial lines. There may be anywhere from 6-10 “nations” that form from it, including the rump state of the land formally known as the USA (probably still centered around DC). I do think there will be migration, not only short term due to fighting, but long term after a relative peace is found–where everyone is encouraged to “return” (as it were) to the lands of their most closely related people, in the US.

I’m picturing the nation divided as follows:

    1. Northeastern Puritan Anglo state, with basically all the Northeast, including Philly.

    2. Mid-Atlantic Rump State, of the remaining US of A (DC/MD/VA, Carolinas and most of PA and West VA and Delaware. This will be the remaining Civ-Nat state, multiracial/ethnic/wealthy.

    3. The Atlanta-centered black Nation, which will include parts Georgia and Alabama and possibly the western part of the Carolinas and Eastern Mississippi.

    4. Texas (Louisiana, Oklahoma, much of Miss and eastern NM)

    5. Big sky and Colorado

    6. SWLatino Nation

    7. NW Pacifica Yankee Part.2 (similar to the NE,but with more asians)

    8. Some outliers, based upon location, and trade (e.g. Florida, Alaska).

  9. AWM says:

Just like the Democrats “The bombs don’t work!”
This is even stupider than the SC hearings.

  10. Rurik says:

    nice list!

you know what distinguishes these shitballs from the rest of the shitballs?

Pure, unadulterated, existential butt-hurt, on acid!

I wonder if those ‘bombs’ weren’t just industrial strength Preparation H suppositories. Maybe if they would have just used them, they’d finally know some relief from their terrible, unendurable angst.

Makes me think of a new product to market in the Age of Trump.

Relief is here for butt-hurt shitlibs! Just jam this up your wazoo, and in no time, your butt-hurt (and all that ails you) will be cured!

Wow, pipe bombs that don’t blow up just a few days before the midterms. Too soon to expose any false flag operation…or maybe not. Of course, it’s possible a right winger sent them, but such obvious and vocal left wing targets suggest something more nefarious. I’ll wait for evidence to decide, but it’s quite possible it they were sent by Haven Monohan.

Or that time a leftist nut tried gunning down a bunch of republican congressmen? Of course not. But they’ll make sure you remember this…even though absolutely no one was harmed.

I think Robert De Niro was supposed to come staggering out of his pad with fake blood and fake shrapnel sticking out of his torso. It must have been that screen actor’s guild having a strike again.

Yet, by Thursday morning, there was heartening news.

… strange definition of “heartening” there, Pat …

  17. @Iberiano

I agree with about all of your comments in general, Iberiano, so don’t take this the wrong way. I don’t think you’ve got a handle on the demographics of the various states.

The western part of the Carolinas have a pretty large majority of white people (say west of a vague line from Augusta, SC to just west of Columbia, up the I-77 and then curving NE out of Greensboro).

A nation built from Texas would only want the N. half of Lousiana and Mississippi, and probably not the SW of the state that is almost completely Mexican. Austin would have to be ejected with something approaching escape velocity (might take nukes).

You’re missing most of the tall-grass prairie and plains states.

Nope, there are counties full of conservatives mixed in very closely with the ctrl-left and globalists. It could very well be a civil war in the “traditional” sense, as the traditional sense was NOT what the US War Between the States was. That’s why many use that terminology, or War of Northern Aggression. Except for in place like Kansas, though brother may have fought against brother in some instances, it was one big region trying to get out of a no-longer beneficial contract, and getting invaded for it.

  18. The burning question is; can someone who packages up some suggestive looking stuff and then sends these off to various public persons be charged with an actual crime? What is the crime? Spreading “terror”?

It’s just PVC pipe–which is not strong enough to allow the initial expansive pressure (if there were any real powder inside to begin with) to build up to the force needed to create an actual explosion–some tape, an unidentified powder, coiled wire and a digital clock.

It looks to me as though the person or persons who did this were very careful to avoid including any substance which could be construed as actually threatening or harmful. They may be charged, but how can it amount to much?

Are we supposed to believe that those graphics have been exposed to the Florida sun for weeks or months or a couple of years? Why aren’t they faded and curling? They look brand spanking new, like they were just put on last week. Anyone who lives in Florida knows that stuff inside the windows of your car takes a real beating from the sun. (and Plantation is pretty far south)

I would like for someone to question his neighbors and find out how long his van has looked that way. Do they recall having seen him drive around in that thing for the last year or two? Until we get corroborating testimony, I’m reserving judgement about this. This is too pat.

I believe black powder will explode on it’s own – see firecrackers. However it is considered a low explosive and if encased in PVC will not likely create a significant shock wave to cause a lot of damage. However people do lose fingers to big firecrackers like M-80s. With enough you could kill or seriously hurt somebody.

He will likely be charged with making terrorist threats which don’t need any real hurt on the part of the victim. With consecutive sentencing, he could be put away for life.

  24. @ThreeCranes

    “This is too pat.”

I agree. It’s reminiscent of the case of the so-called “underwear bomber” for example, where a mentally-challenged/unhinged person is “armed” and manipulated into carrying out some act of “violence” in support of some cause.

  25. Mr. Buchanan has twisted ethics and his knowledge of history into a pretzel. Junk Food Essay…no explosion,no harm…rhetoric counts here, not there. Silly Words. There is NO moral justification for an elite celebrity president to raise fears, incite hate and celebrate violence.
Many of my high school classmates voted for Trump believing he would help their economic struggles. Aside from exciting rallies and the fun of being in a rowdy group they have gained nothing and are now worried about their SocialSecurity and Medicare being attacked. They are starting to see Trump, like the GOP uses the little guy but stands for the big guys…always have, always will. Trump’s vulgarity has not put one dollar in their budget. Trump’s nods and winks are not improving their lives.

The Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys will form the new American nation. It will include West Virginia, Kentucky, most of Tennessee, northern Alabama and Mississippi, and the Southern parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Potentially more bloody and vicious with no possible reconciliation save permanent division as individuals will be forced to migrate to their new zones wherever they may be.

There are some strong similarities here to the real life lead in the Spanish Civil War.

    – By 1936 cross party communication between traditionalists and the leftist Bolshevik influenced Spanish government had broken down with mostly just abuse coming from each side.

    – The government turned a blind eye to the violence of the radical left such as large scale church burnings, land invasions and militia violence, in effect giving it the green light.

    – The leftist violence escalated and turned to political assassinations, with rightist militias starting to fight back, and tit for tat murders culminating in the assassination of the parliamentary leader of the traditional right, José Calvo-Sotelo.

    – When the shooting started the middle ground disappeared. The Bolshevik minority mostly took control of the Republican government and the royalist and traditionalist opposition radicalized into the fascist Falange.

    – The whole country split down to the level of towns and villages, with the armed forces, civil guard and police also splitting left/right.

    – The country had majority Republican and majority Nationalist regions, with opponents jailed or executed, both sides aiming for a military victory and the recapture of the whole of Spain.

In the event, the Nationalists won with the country exiting the Civil War under the dictatorship of General Franco.

In US terms, political murders would probably trigger the same downward spiral with the country splitting into a red/blue patchwork. The US military would likely split along the same political lines with a further general radicalization. The Zioglob /SJW’s would go for outright Bolshevik style totalitarianism and the traditional right would likely turn to Fascism, complete with the symbolism, and both would aim for a military victory (i.e. the recapture of the whole of the United States).
