Dear Lee: I never had a chance to meet you. But I will never forget you — and I will do my best to ensure that you are not forgotten.

As the owner of Crossfire Hats in Brighton, Colorado, your craftsmanship and artistry were renowned — and you garnered local media attention for your success for over two decades in the highly specialized business. You told one interviewer that your work making custom cowboy hats was “keeping the West alive, one hat at a time” and that your products represented the “history of the West.” You said you were a “country boy” who “love(d) being an artist.”

Your friend and fellow hatter Steven Weil, owner of Rockmount Ranch Manufacturing Company, told KDVR 31 News that Lee Keltner was “a Western guy, he followed the cowboy code.” He praised you as “a man of integrity” and “honest person.”

You were a beloved grandfather and father. Your sister Suzan noted that you “served our country” as a U.S. Navy veteran. Your friends said you were the “guy that would give you the shirt off his back” and a “patriot.”

You were a family man, a self-made entrepreneur and artisan, a motorcycle enthusiast, and a salt-of-the-earth American who took pride in his community, his craft and his country. My kind of people.

On Oct. 10, 2020, you headed to Denver’s Civic Center Plaza to attend a “Patriot Muster” — a peaceful gathering of citizens hosted by Benghazi Marine hero John “Tig” Tiegen to show pride in America. Hundreds carrying Old Glory and Thin Blue Line flags, donning MAGA hats, joined you. Young and old, civilian and military, able-bodied and wheelchair-bound, answered Tiegen’s call to “Stand Up and Show Up.”

The rally went off smoothly — until attendees began to disperse and return to their cars. Tiegen’s men had come trained and prepared to defend their supporters after the violent Back the Blue rally that I attended three months earlier in July 2020 with hundreds of others at the very same Civic Center Plaza was shut down by violent antifa and Black Lives Matter vigilantes wielding metal rods, skateboards and megaphones to threaten and assault law-abiding citizens.

Remember: The Denver police union president Nick Rogers blew the whistle on how top brass (led by a police chief who marched arm in arm with BLM this summer) issued a retreat order while the mob trampled our constitutional rights to free speech and peaceable assembly.

But despite Tiegen’s preparation, better police presence and barriers that kept rioters from invading the plaza, one man didn’t make it out alive:

You. Lee Keltner.

ORDER IT NOW

Lee, you weren’t able to see or know that an agitator named Jeremiah Elliott had been antagonizing your fellow patriots throughout the end of the event as they walked back to their cars. From multiple pieces of video footage and from witness accounts I gathered, Elliott was menacing and hateful. He had a history of left-wing agitation, including leading an anarchist antifa/black bloc mob outside a Denver police station a month before the Patriot Muster.

As I previously reported, Lee, while Elliott trailed you, a Trump-hating Occupy Denver radical named Matthew Dolloff and a local NBC affiliate investigative producer for Denver’s 9News named Zack Newman conferred with each other nearby. At some point, Dolloff handed his cellphone to Newman.

Minutes later, photographers and videographers filmed the agitator aggressively daring Keltner to deploy a can of bear spray he was holding to protect himself as Dolloff and Newman stood by closely. At first, Lee, you resisted engaging in any physical brawl as the agitator escalated. Mere seconds later, you walked away from the agitator only to walk right into what appears to be a deadly ambush with Dolloff. In an instant, Dolloff appeared to grab for something on your chest while you slapped defensively at his face. Dolloff then immediately whipped out a gun and shot at your face as you sprayed the repellant in self-defense.

I repeat the questions I asked in the aftermath of what I believe was a media-political assassination, Lee, so they and you will not be forgotten:

What did Newman and Dolloff discuss as they shadowed you and Elliott?

Did they have beef with you?

Did Newman or Dolloff know Elliott?

Was Newman, who works for a station that routinely demonizes conservatives as violent racists while whitewashing the left-wing trashing of downtown Denver, aware of Dolloff’s extensive social media footprint calling Trump supporters “racist” “fascists” and posting “Rise Up” Communist revolutionary propaganda?

Lee, your friend Steven Wright, who was with you in your last waking moments, continues to push for truth and justice in your case. He told me recently: “Lee Keltner and I specifically discussed you, Michelle.” Steven said you told him that “no one will hurt her again” and that the riot at the July “Back the Blue” event “had a significant impact on me and Lee Keltner.”

Lee, I will never get to say “thank you” to you. But I vow in 2022 to make sure that “never again” is your legacy and that your name and courage are not forgotten. God bless you, patriot.

  1. So, what happened to Dolloff at trial?

Unlike the Arbery self-defense shooting, there seems to be very little reporting.

If anything, it was Keltner who was defending himself from the accused Dolloff and Elliott, who were intent on closing the distance with him and engaging him in some kind of needless altercation.

If Dolloff was claiming self defense, the first thing a police investigator would have asked is, “Why didn’t you just walk away?”

Like Arbery, Dolloff advanced to confrontation. This makes him guilty of being the aggressor, just as Arbery was guilty of attacking Travis McMichael.

  2. Mainslime Globalist NWO Media are nothing but propagandists/liars and are enemies of every decent person.

  3. I did a lot of video research in the immediate aftermath of the assassination, and there was YouTube footage of Dolloff and the 9News guy waiting to cross the street with Keltner, and we can see Dolloff visibly straighten and twitch his fingers, old-West gunfighter style when he sees Keltner’s concealed weapon on his chest, inside his vest….

There is no question in my mind that Keltner was specifically targeted by the 9News team – why was Dolloff reaching for Keltner’s chest? He knew he was carrying…

Why was the female photographer there at the ready to shoot a whole motor drive movie of the altercation and the shooting???

Why did the 9News guy get down on his knees immediately as law enforcement closed in, and start offering excuses before being asked???

Why was all this not brought up in the trial???

This was a premeditated murder, plain and simple and Dolloff and the entire 9News team and their Antifa agitator should all be serving long prison terms for their planned attack on Keltner, stemming from the recognition of Keltner’s firearm at the crosswalk….

    Great comment!

However, it does directs attention to a very unpleasant fact.

That those who hate the West in general and the United States in particular now have complete control of all of its major social institutions, education, business, government, etc. Which means, until that changes they can literally get away with anything.

And as we all know there seems to be nothing they're not willing to do to both get and keep power. And now that they have it the only way for their designated scapegoats to protect themselves would be to take that power from them - forever.

This explains as well as anything why they are in the process of abolishing self-defense.

Orwell once wrote about the power of facing unpleasant facts. And the power of this unique and hostile elite is as unpleasant a fact as it gets. It's also just as easily verifiable, which explains their obvious addiction to censorship, slander and violence. The mind of the hostile elite is literally insane.

And the only way to stop them would be to, again, take their power from them - forever. But does anyone see that happening?

  4. So a man uses a gun in self defense, and Ms Malkin praises the right wing hater who attempted to spray the man with some unknown substance. I see how this works. Its all about the narrative. Gun rights good so long as minorities get shot.

Was Mr. Dolloff pursuing Mr. Keltner? Was Mr. Dolloff looking for a fight? It sure sounds like he was. Did he then get out in front of Mr. Keltner and attempt to block his way? Who was the aggressor?

Who grabbed at Mr. Keltner's chest? Did Mr. Keltner grab Mr. Dolloff's gun and then fight for control of it, like Arbery did? Was Mr. Dolloff trying to make a citizen's arrest for something he felt Mr. Keltner did? Who wanted a big-boy fight? Who was pursuing who? Who was the instigator? And who was trying to walk away and get to his car?

Wasn't Mr. Dolloff supposed to be security for the news team? Had Mr. Keltner attacked the news team? Looks like the real hater was Mr. Dolloff, along with Zach Newman.

"Gun rights good so long as minorities get shot"

    Totally off topic.

Matthew Dolloff, like Ahmaud Arbery or the three who attacked Kyle Rittenhouse, had a choice to not engage in an altercation.

This is basic logic. Cops see this all the time. People have a choice to walk away, but when they don't , they bear responsibility for what comes next. Ahmaud Arbery could have ignored Travis McMichael, Rosenbaum could have ignored Rittenhouse, Trayvon Martin could have ignored Zimmerman, and the people attacking conservative rallies could have ignored them and gone about their day.

For the last four years we've seen how the left attacks the right, and then claims victimhood if they get smacked. Politics and race have nothing to do with the dynamics of a fight. What matters is who is getting in whose physical space, and making the first move.
