I watched the Memphis cops’ body camera footage three or four times. I don’t in any way condone the actions of these officers. Departmental polices regarding reasonable uses of force were clearly violated.

Yet with that said, here we have another Black male adult refusing to follow simple orders. How many times does one have to be told to lay on their stomach? Instead, Tyre Nichols continues to turn himself over to tell the cops that he’s just trying to go home and other verbal protests. All the while posturing himself so that he’s not completely on his stomach as ordered.

When I was a cop, I saw so this sort of thing so many times, especially by Black males. They stiffen up, contort their bodies in order to make it harder to search and handcuff them – all the while asking the same questions over and over again (“What I do?” and “Why you arresting me?”) even though you’ve already explained everything in detail and multiple times at that!

Blacks do this as a diversion tactic, and to guilt the officer as well as to delay him. They also do it in order to gain sympathy from gullible passerbys. What you’re seeing on the body cameras is the typical drama that Blacks create whenever they are held account for their conduct.

Whites who may have never had such encounters with the police, and who are inclined to believe in the innocence of Black people everywhere, cannot relate to such realities. They have no personal history and protracted contact with Blacks. And so, they are in no condition to judge such incidents. Yet once you’ve had enough encounters with the general incivility and hostility of the average American Black, you understand why both Black and White cops are often compelled to be so ‘hands on’ and rough with them.

Nichols was stopped because he was allegedly driving recklessly. Some persons have denied it, but I tend to think that there’s a lot more to this story than that the cops simply decided to stop this poor innocent Black driver and beat the snot out of him. Notice that the police car in front of Nichol’s car has him blocked in. This makes sense if he was driving recklessly.

Also, the officers quickly approached the driver’s side door with their duty weapons drawn. This tells me that it’s not a normal traffic stop! Something occurred prior to the traffic stop which prodded the officers to approach Nichols in that way.

While the officers will likely be convicted of excessive force under color of authority and serve time in prison, I doubt any of it will prove that Tyre Nichols was completely innocent in drawing the attention of officers in the first place. The media, of course, will make him out to be a full member of today’s Trinity of Black heroes: Rodeny King, George Floyd, and now Tyre Nichols.

He may have endangered several people on a chase. The incident is a win-win.

I have had MOSTLY pleasant experiences with cops, MOST were just normal men and women, very professional, HOWEVER, I encountered one or two pricks along the way as well. One was a smart ass, loudmouth female, the other two gems were male. Never dealt with a Black cop, but I can only imagine.

Blacks not complying and attacking cops is very real. However, I have seen cops dump a handcuffed White guy on his head. The guy must have had 4 cops around him, he posed no threat whatsoever. There was a “struggle” but no “beat down”. “Take downs” are tricky on the street or in hospitals. Since Nichols was resisting when he was taken out of the car and later, on the street corner, accidental head trauma is the likely cause of death. I live in Portland, Oregon, a city that struggles to hire police officers, and I have had numerous bizarre, disconcerting encounters with the police over the years (I have never been charged with anything more serious than a traffic violation). American urban areas are effectively anarchic, yet they rule the US.

The US is going to lose its ability to borrow from foreigners at some point in the current Ukraine war. Either the US wins and Europe is de-industrialized and can’t lend money it doesn’t have, or the US loses and Europe becomes de-industrialized and in effect client states of the Russian Federation. The unanswered questions are political. Will the Left will lose its hold on US politics? I have no experience in policing, but I did watch the George Floyd video, and what I’ll always remember is that he was saying “I can’t breathe” while he was still standing, and before Derek Chauvin even arrived.

My son lived in Memphis for three years, his first job out of college. My wife and I spent a day with him in Memphis looking for apartments. She grew up in small town northern Missouri, not even a token in her school district. I was from the delta, I had seen it all before.

We settled on a gated apartment complex, $1100/month, near the hospitals, downtown. 10 minutes from work, could avoid rush hour traffic on 240, 40 and 55. To work in Memphis and live in a safe neighborhood, requires a 45 minute commute.

He was pulled over for erratic behavior and driving down the wrong side of the street. When confronted by officers, he physically resisted and was tasered but got loose and was able to run away – thus he was apprehended at a 2nd location. The MSM makes no mention of the first part of the arrest, because it puts Saint Nichols in a bad light. None of that warranted being beat to death, but when your city is 65% black, the law of the jungle takes over.

What can we learn from this?
1.) A 65% black city should be treated like Chernobyl – stay away!
2.) Don’t drive on the wrong side of the street.
3.) Don’t physically fight with officers and resist, absolutely nothing positive can come from it.

Now of course Mr. Nichols couldn’t follow rule #1… wherever he went his skin was sure to follow. If he had followed rules # 2 & 3 he’d be alive today, however, it’s still likely that Nichols propensity for TNB would have ended his life early in one manner or another.

Holy crap! I’ve lived in Tennessee for 36 years and there’s no way in hell I’d ever set foot in Memphis. It’s known as one of the most dangerous cities in the USA and, as for that, it’s pretty high up in the world ranking of most dangerous cities in the world as well. Long story short, the “beating” was directly related to sustained resisting arrest where Nichols failed to meet his legal responsibilities. I lived in the LA area during the whole Rodney King drama, working construction. One day, during it all, while we sat eating lunch, I brought up something to the effect of whether the beating would have happened if RK were white? One after another, all around the room, the other guys told me stories of guys they knew, all white, who resisted arrest and had the living crap beaten out of them. At that point I recalled the story of another guy with whom I’d worked. He told me of how his brother, a crackhead, had gotten caught while committing a burglary. He kicked the cop in the nuts and ran away. A little while later they caught up with him in a nearby backyard. While they held him immobile they encouraged the police dog they had there to chew on his face. I don’t know about police elsewhere, but the LAPD is well known for being very rough with suspects who resist. This is regardless of race.

I don’t know what to make of it. The police do have the job of protecting us from the criminals who would definitely otherwise make our neighborhoods unsafe. It’s a hard and dangerous job. I’m inclined to give them a lot of leeway. But to return to the topic of whether arresting criminals, as harshly as is necessary, itself is racist, it is maybe if only the accuser of racism admits that the criminals are predominately black and that the laws that protect us from having our belongings violently taken from us, or from being violently attacked for looking at someone wrong, if these laws are illegitimate and inherently racist.

Oh, another aspect. That poor young man who died that night, he had a job, too, a job that was righteously required to him to perform. That is, he was required to submit to the authority of the police. He willfully failed to do HIS job. In other words, by his own choice, part of what he did was to commit suicide by cop. IOW, he was a completely active participant in his own death, as was GF before him and, I presume, others.

I lived in L.A. back during the early to mid 80’s. Even then, the cops were known to be dangerous. I had a part-time job at Los Angeles International Airport and when I’d get off work and be driving home, if I saw a cop down the road, I’d quickly turn off the main road into a subdivision and drive until I could come out below where I saw the cop. Why? Because there was a husband-and-wife cop team operating in the area. She would pull over a motorist and then her cop husband would show up, get them out of the car and on the ground whereupon she would relish kicking them in the head repeatedly. When I moved from L.A., the police department (Hawthorne) had (at the time) over 100 lawsuits filed against them for exactly this reason.

Actually in my experience, the bad offenders of bad driving are usually young white people. It’s odd to me that young black men are the more dangerous ones, in percentage, in society, although nearly all the black people I’ve met in person have been perfectly polite, while young white men AND women (me included, when I was young) are the hellions out on the highway. Blacks, by contrast, in my experience, tend (relatively) to be pretty careful behind the wheel. I don’t know why.

When I was cop, I used to train the new officers fresh from the academy as an FTO (Field Training Officer). I told them they had to be both smarter than the criminal on the streets as well as the average citizen in terms of how they conduct themselves. They needed both officer survival in terms of tactics and safety, but also legal survival in terms of how they conducted themselves in public so as to not get sued or sent to prison. This is what it means to be a law enforcement professional, and not just a swinging dick with a gun and a badge.

This is why after many years I was able to retire honorably, not get sued, not get fired, and why very few complaints were ever alleged against me.

In 1950s and 1960s Detroit, there was an equivalent 4-man “squad” called the “Big Four”. This was an officially sanctioned section of the Detroit Police Department who while in civilian plain-clothed would ride around in unmarked vehicles and harass whoever they wanted without any interference from police “higher-ups”. I’ve studied it a little more. It does look like he was basically murdered, possibly over a love woman that both he and one of the officers was involved with. If such is the case, then by the officers being charged, justice is in the process of proceeding.

Long Beach cops were even worse. I had a friend who ended up looking like Frankenstein because of all the stiches required after a thorough beating with nightsticks brought on by running from the cops. I saw another instance where 5 of them severely beat down a drunk who could barely stand, let alone fight. Oh yeah, both victims were white.

While I have respect for Mr. Taylor and credit him for much of my awakening, the following was not allowed on one of their latest articles, Black Fathers Found. Maybe they didn’t want it as the first comment defining the discussion, but what I wrote was pretty tame and didn’t make the cut. You be the judge:

Individual blacks lose their seemingly invincible status if they cross that invisible line, there are numerous examples over the last few years to easily prove my point.

If you want to finally understand some of these issues without continuing to run around in circles wondering how blacks have gotten into this position over whites, you MUST read (or listen to via text reader) the first few chapters of Culture of Critique by Kevin MacDonald, he lays out a very long, thorough and convincing case that cannot be easily understood through quick summary- you have to see detail after detail to remove all benefit of the doubt that you give the group that you would never suspect of any wrongdoing at quick glance. It’s a long slow march through our institutions that happened gradually and got us to the perilous state that we are in today.
