Ronda Rousey gets pummeled by Amanda Nunes

Legal issues aside — I suppose there is no lawful recourse to ban women from participating in fight sports — , what are the cultural consequences of entire societies, even the whole world, taking delight in the spectacle of women beating the crap out of each other? Is it related to recent decisions to allow women in combat roles? In the past, even without legal restrictions, female fight sports hardly existed because they were deemed culturally crude, morally distasteful, and unbecoming for women. So much of civilizational do’s and don’ts are a matter of cultural norms and social taboos than legal prohibition. It’s like there’s no law against loudly burping or breaking wind, but most people don’t do that in public because it’s deemed vulgar and coarse.

What’s truly depressing is even Russia and China take part in this neo-savagery. As the West has gone totally berserk and degenerate with celebration of tattoos, piercings, and general pornification of culture, it’s hardly surprising that sports culture has also become awash in all manner of trashiness.
While athletes through the ages have hardly been exemplars of refinement, there were some standards to maintain a minimum of dignity in sports culture, if only for the sake of children who look up to sports stars as ‘heroes’, even ‘role models’. So, while boxing was always a brutal and even bloody sport, there was a clear division between the fighters in the ring and the spectators in the seats. The focus on the ring allowed for a degree of athletic purity. It wasn’t like the Roman gladiatorial games where the bloodlust of the crowd bled into the brutality on the field. It was as if the gladiators were flattering and channeling the worst and most debased passions of the mob.

The so-called MMA fights are, at least in spirit, closer to gladiatorial games than to the established sporting events of the 20th century, including boxing. UFC arenas are more like Rock Concert venues, and the event is promoted more like Professional Wrestling than serious sports. If boxing matches took place in Las Vegas, MMA is pure ‘Las Vegas’, wherever the event is held.

Especially with the fighters hemmed inside a cage(or ‘octagon’), it has the feel of cock-fighting and dog-fighting. It’s like the two praying mantises in the wooden cage on the rickety boat in ENTER THE DRAGON. Also, there is no pretense of honor, dignity, or much in the way of respect. Perhaps, this is refreshing for some because, boiled down to essentials, sports is a form of barbarism, not about gentlemanly virtues, which can be dismissed as pretense with roots in Anglo culture.
MMA is to boxing what heavy metal and punk are to Sixties Rock. In its shameless promotion and sensationalist presentation, it’s like a caricature of sports though, unlike Professional Wrestling, fighters with genuine skills are involved, intensely so. Maybe, as a business model, it was a kind of genius move to combine the circus antics of WWE with the demands of a real sport.

Women acting worse than wolves

Boxing was never lacking in thugs, cretins, and lunatics, some of whom were the biggest champions, but there was a sense that it was rather unfortunate that someone like Sonny Liston or Mike Tyson became champion. Muhammad Ali was tolerated for his antics because he had genuine flair for entertainment and could back his talk with his walk — by some miracle, he even managed to KO George Foreman at his peak — , but the general pressure was for boxers to exhibit at least a modicum of sportsmanship-like behavior. Boxing favored the golden boys, like when Oscar De La Hoya put nasty and rude Ricardo Mayorga in his place. In contrast, the likes of Conor McGregor seems to be favored and even encouraged in MMA. The more outrageous, the better.

Fight sports are so brutal that there have been calls to ban it even for men. Dignity, honor, and respect are irrelevant in a sport where the purpose of the contestants is to bash each other’s brains out. Boxing has been, by far, the most damaging sports. One only needs to consider the fates of Muhammad Ali and Jerry Quarry. Still, boxing is limited to strikes with gloves and traditionally was limited to men.
In contrast, MMA looks downright ugly and barbaric with fighters allowed to use elbows, knees, and to ‘ground and pound’ the opponent. It’s like humans reduced to the level of beasts.
Now, some have defended MMA as the most advanced form of fighting incorporating all schools of martial arts, and its athletes are among the most skilled fighters in the world. Surely true, and its value in the military and security training is undeniable. But as sports/spectacle, its overall effects seems desensitizing and dehumanizing.
Defenders say that MMA is actually less harmful than boxing because matches tend to be much shorter due to the wider array of arsenal. Whereas boxers routinely go the distance getting hit in the face countless times, MMA fights often end with choke-hold or ‘armbar’ with far fewer strikes to the head. On the other hand, a kick or knee to the head is likely to have long-term consequences.

Women acting worse than gophers

MMA is closer to pure fighting than boxing is, but that robs it of anything resembling grace. In boxing, a felled opponent is allowed to get back on his feet in a ten-count, whereas the MMA fighter is eager to finish off his prostate opponent by smashing his face in. Why not go all the way and allow for groin-punching-and-kicking as well?

Anyway, just think. There was a time when boxing was considered too much for women. But now, all the world rejoices in the sight of women punching, kicking, elbowing, kneeing, slamming, ground-and-pounding, and strangulating one another. How is this good for civilization? What does it do for young boys and girls all over the world to grow up watching women, often covered with ugly tattoos, acting more savage than wolves & gophers and in front of thousands of people in the stadium and millions around the world screaming at their big screen TV’s?

There is also the matter of aesthetics as women are deemed the fairer race. Men being less pretty and even ugly, what does it matter if they bash each other’s face in? But should women be punching each other in the face? Some will argue that it doesn’t really matter in MMA because most women in it are dogs or hags anyway, and maybe being grounded-and-pounded will even improve their looks. But still, it’s the idea that is troubling: women beating the crap out of each other and all the people, men and women and boys and girls, cheering on this mayhem. It can’t be good for our souls, and shame on Russia and China for taking part in this culture of beastliness.

Here’s are some examples of women in UFC. One woman looks like a barracuda and seethes at her opponent who looks like a sleepy cartoon cat. How did they, especially the cartoon cat, come to make MMA their career choice?

A woman named Holly Holmes goes by the nickname “Preacher’s Daughter”. What exactly did her father preach and impart to her that she has made it her calling to kick other girls in the head?

So what was the point of this column other than to demonstrate your lack of knowledge regarding the fighting arts? As to the MMA woman, it sounds like you want to put the “fairer sex” safely back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant.

The health club I work out at has a decent number of surprisingly strong woman, sporting some muscle. A few can rep out squats or deadlifts with 115lbs to 185lbs on their shoulders! And most are quite sexy.

I studied some karate,a few years of kung-fu and some tai chi when I was much younger. I still keep up some of the stretching and exercises, so I am not just an armchair voyeur.

I like MMA fighting far better than boxing. Men or woman, doesn’t matter. Just give me a good fight.

Is that the only choice we have as a society – to either let women fight each other in cages or confine them to the house?

It seems that we had developed a fairly good balance in allowing women into higher education and in the work force for decades before cage fighting was even a thing.

Female boxing has been around since the 1970s, the same with kickboxing. Kathy Long along with fellow kickboxer, Bill Super Foot Wallace did commentary during the first ever UFC events.

I have no problem with females competing in combat sports against other females. The sport of boxing builds character, discipline, courage, and about life, it is a beautiful sport. Wrestling, real wrestling, not the Vince McMahon brand, takes discipline to another level, these guys and gals are some of the fittest athletes around, takes even more stamina to grapple than box.

Ann Wolf, perhaps the greatest female boxer of all time could have probably knocked out half the male population of average Joes that weighed under 175lbs when she was in her prime. Also, Ronda Rousey, who is pictured above, was the biggest draw in the UFC for a couple of years. Rousey was exposed as a one trick pony who had a limited standup game and couldn’t take a punch like her male counterpart, and also former UFC champion, Brock Lesnar.

Boxing has been around forever and has rich and lengthy history. Mixed martial arts has only been around since 1993. Of course before then you did in fact have boxer vs kick boxer matches and boxers like Jack Dempsey, Archie Moore, and Jersey Joe Walcott took on pro “rasslers” in bouts that were obviously rehearsed. Judo Gene Lebell, A mentor of Ronda Rousey, Benny Urquidez, Chuck Norris and a legend in the martial arts world took on retired and an older Milo Savage, a decent middleweight in his day but was in his forties when Lebell choked him out. Then you had the farce between Antonio Inoki and Ali. Other fighters to have engaged in “exhibitions” with pro “rasslers” were Leon Spinks and Trevor Berbick.

Retired boxer James Toney was embarrassed in the cage by Randy Couture. James Warring won a world cruiserweight title in boxing and had a good run in mma and kickboxing. Kickboxing legend Rick Roufus sucked at boxing. As far as I know white boy Troy Dorsey is the only man to ever hold a world championship in boxing and kickboxing, James Warring might have pulled it off but not sure. Tex Cobb was not only a world class boxer but a world class kick boxer as well. An older Ray Mercer did knock out former UFC champion Tim Silva in a mma bout, Mercer had limited success in the mma world. Very few mma fighters can punch properly and are certainly no match with a young world class boxer in a standup match only. In old kick boxer vs boxer matches long before the UFC, more often than not, the boxer won.

Boxing/MMA are not for everybody and no one is promoting it as such. Do it at your own risk. Spectators like it as tough competitive sports, just one on one. The female fighters are just an add-on, a sideshow with a much smaller audience which is shoehorned into the general fight card. An all female fight program would go broke. Female fight sports suffer from what most female sports in general do which is that the females are not very female. Most look like convicts with their tats and hairstyles, many obviously being roided-up and look like semi-men. A few actually look like real women and are what keeps it going. Some actually have a sideline of being internet bikini babes with a following. Not appealing to everybody but people make their choices.

  7. There was nothing miraculous about Ali’s victory over Foreman. Contrary to the popular narrative, Ali was actually ahead of Foreman on points before the KO.

Who is this “we” you speak of? How does the power to decide what people can do with their own lives (outside of laws) come to “we”?

Ultimately, the choice to participate or not is up to the woman/person. That applies to abortion and so-called vaccine shots also.

One thing that is rarely, if ever, elaborated on in similar discussions of how men & woman interact in our world is the recognition that how people fit into their gender stereotype is not absolute. Rather than a single definition of maleness or femininity, each person fits within a general stereotype range of say 1-10.

Using men as an example, a 1 might represent a gay person, who would tend to have more feminine characteristics while a 10 would be the most macho heterosexual. I would say that most men would fit in a range of 4.5 to 7 on this scale. A similar scale would apply to woman.

So the point being that the MMA fighting woman likely tend to the more male side of their scale (1’s instead of 10’s) and might have more testosterone, making them more aggressive and more interested in fighting.

Someone must have studied and wrote on this?

Many years ago when I live in NJ, I was at a boardwalk in a town on the Jersey shore where I saw a couple of guys get into a fight. One was clearly an experienced street-fighter/boxer, the other some kind of kung-fu fighter who was doing what looked like monkey style, crouched down and jumping around. The boxer was kicking his ass. He had a strong stance and would just punch down at the other guy as he came in close.

Boxing is the red light district of sports. It is thought that one the crimes that Sonny Liston may have got away with is rape, Liston did do time for breaking a cop’s leg. The list of boxer’s who have done time is long to say the least. The manager of middleweight great, Carlos Monzon said the best fighters are found in prison. Monzon would be found guilty of throwing his girlfriend off a balcony and do time for murder.

Freddie Mills was a suspect in a series of murders in London. Middleweight champion Randolph Turpin shot and murdered family members before shooting himself. Rocky Graziano, James Scott, Tony Ayala, Ron Lyle and numerous other boxers did time in prison. Even squeaky clean, Rocky Marciano spent time in the brig while serving in the army.

Notorious serial black serial killer, Sam Little also allegedly tried his hand at boxing.

How about that other legendary female fighting sport, Roller Derby:
    https://folklife.si.edu/magazine/history-and-culture-of-roller-derby

Leo Seltzer, a Chicago-based sports promoter, is credited with inventing roller derby in the 1930s, in the midst of the Great Depression … In 1938, sportswriter Damon Runyon approached Seltzer, suggesting he focus on the violence to bring in crowds.

A more inclusive sport than most since its beginning, leagues were always co-ed, welcoming openly gay players and all ethnicities … Derby women remained the highest paid female athletes for decades. When people recall watching derby on TV, they almost always talk about the women’s teams.

On the other hand there is also the old-fashioned ‘catfighting’, sometimes in skimpy outfits, or less … seems more classically ‘feminine’ in some ways, as women have tussled with each other in a specifically female style for centuries

Despite being pummeled in the face for a living, not every combat athlete has cauliflower ears, smashed and disfigured noses and faces full of scar issue. Some fighters maintained their handsome features into retirement. Despite having his face shattered and bleeding buckets of blood in his first fight with Harry Greb, Gene Tunney maintained his movie star looks. George Carpentier, a man who fought Tunney and Dempsey was another guy who looked more like a matinee idol than a fighter. Ali and his rival, Ken Norton, also sported handsome features despite being punched in the face by huge punches like Frazier, Foreman, Cooney, Shavers, etc. Norton never fought Frazier but he was one of Frazier’s sparring partners, both refused to fight each other because of their friendship.

Henry Milligan, an undersized heavyweight who lost to Tyson in the 1984 Olympic trials graduated either at Princeton or Temple, forget which. Milligan had a moderately successful career at cruiserweight

Met Floyd Patterson when he was alive, super nice guy, as was George Chuvalo, the Spinks brothers, Kevin Mcbride, (big Irish guy who defeated a washed up Tyson,) Mike Weaver, and Virgil Hill. 22. A ruling oiligarchy projects its pathopsychology oton the society that it dominates. Bashing the tripe out of others can be a display of skill and bravery in men, but in women it really seems debased. And making it the sort of rabid dog-fight on MMA or whatever it’s called, is definitely depraved. Women can easily learn judo, karate etc, and display their talent and fortitude, and treat their opponents with respect. The snarling pre-fight confrontations are so crude, banal and debasing, particularly when the combatants frequently hug and embrace after they have provided some lucrative blood-sport for those behind the spectacle.

    – Other comments seem mostly about the boxing, but to me it’s symptom of everything else. Not that others don’t have the same thoughts, some days people just want to post on one thing or another. Was just thinking about things that have been pushed by world psychos, which nothing in front of us is coincidence, supposed mass media is scheme, which people ignored as some sort coincidence. It’s gotten harder to ignore though is something to recognize, and second, as guilty is/are the many who knew everything is wrong and failed to make effort to stop it. Most ‘tv’ and radio and ‘movies’ and other agenda media and filth on web should have been stopped by us long ago. Not listening to phony govt ‘first amendment’ bs so porno filth would be the wave of scum it is now, or ‘movie ratings’ or ‘safey web’ fake ‘solutions’ to stop us from stopping every bit of it totaly. It was not enough for people to snivel ‘I don’t watch that’, it is about stopping it so no one does. That is basic life, to make sure there is no black hole being made that destroys the future and our life.

With that said it’s interesting just the other day I had similar thought as the writer on degenerate and tattoos and piercings and general ugly that increased, and though my thought angled to direction as first paragraph, in that to me the same time this fake ‘tough’ sort of veneer has been going on, the psychos have been assaulting our freedom, the very cores of it. Our rights to speech, which should never, never have been censored, not any, not even yelling ‘fire’ in a theater or whatever, and now other things even the right to move about, and being told to wear masks, etc, – point being where are supposed tough people doing anything. So, my thought is on comparison, and that those things are covers for ignorance, or weak sense of self, either grasping for identity, or is arrogant ignorance.

Really the same could be said of any ‘spectator’ sports’, people immersing false ‘tough’ distraction -while their own power is being stripped by govt/state and weapons people dumbly allowed them accumulate with false ‘wars’, is a wonder to contemplate. I do think more are sensing a ruse and just aren’t showing it as many continue to function in a false existence, but is changing, and wherever I am I try to mention a word on things, impart sense of talking, so others do also. In any event it’s notable to compare what people do, or how they look, and what is actually going on. And also that ignorance by most people is what let the increase of ignorant and scum be born to attack us. The clapping for every breeding has been stupid. Stop and think of ‘talk show’ nonsense, ‘applaud’ lights come on to clap because some holey-wood person spawned. The pushing of breeding, and people ignoring that scheme, yet another that led to the ugly that is now. Takes actual effort to make the future. Hope more people start talking to each other, that’s the only way to route media and govt schemes. It’s important to make note.

Should also add obviously there are many angles on females fighting thing, and will say though the fighting thing is ignorant distraction, those trying to say females should stay femy is bogus, women have to step it up and get tough because the fake femy agenda going away, and real effort is requirement to have any future that isn’t controlled by vipers. Nonsense paint on faces and hair junk and fake eyelashes etc were conned by those with agendas of distraction, while they took over. Feminizing by pushing obedience while the cons are masculine. People so feminized now I see men with little dogs. Ridiculous disconnection from masculine nature. Get a real dog, at least small to mid-size or forget it.
Really appreciate the article, a last note, on author screen name, freud was a piece of crap, and Jung had some offenses, but measuring the only few that bogus colleges push, by comparison Jung was the only one worth anything.

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” Carl Jung

I just bow to that quote. Really, absolute core, regards forever on it, and isn’t only limited to self, really first thought should be as to world around us and mass of vile, or religion ilusion, or drugs, or just about any other thing in failure of regard of the serious. Just can’t say enough about that quote.

God only knows what happened to these poor animals.

Mexicans and spics aka Puerto Ricans and Salvadorans are the worst breed for acquiring tough dogs in order to appear tough, then comes blackie, and then rednecks. I did develop a real interest in “Pro Wrestling” or at least the NWA version of it that Ted Turner ran on his cable station. It was for adults with Ric Flair and his crew taking the match out of the wrestling ring and bringing it to the studio interview and then right onto the streets as camcorders made videoing anywhere possible. Yes it wasn’t real but passing motorists wouldn’t know that when The Four Horseman ambushed Dusty Rhodes outside a convenience store and tied him to the lumber rack of pickup and ”beat him up”. They weren’t wearing wrestling tights just street clothes.

They had women in their scripts too but not as combatants except once. Baby Doll, the girl friend of heel Tully Blanchard, was set up by J. J. Dillon, the manager of Ric Flair’s crew. Dillon insinuated Baby Doll had been cheating on Tully, and AFAIK for the only time in wrestling, Tully punched her in the face on national TV. Of course Baby Doll was in on the act, she grew up in pro wrestling, but the audience was horrified and as Tully began to drag Baby Doll by the hair from the studio she was rescued by Dusty Rhodes.

It was OK to cheat, use a folding chair or anything else to hurt a male wrestler but the women of wrestling deserved chivalry and were exempt from combat. Thus Ric Flair could climb into the ring and take off his suit jacket and begin to undo his trouser belt as if to rape Precious, the female escort of a defeated opponent but the locker room would empty and Flair and his heels would have to run for their lives.

So whatever has happened to American culture it hadn’t happened during the Reagan years. The NWA allowed their wrestling program a lot of freedom. Flair could intone that he would be in Orlando next week so if any ladies wanted to ‘ride space mountain ALL NIGHT LONG’ or display a girls training bra and say this was what the Rockin Roll Express girls wore but he wanted full grown women! That was OK with Ted Turner and the NWA but violence against women. Forbidden after the Tully Blanchard/Baby Doll episode.

I read somewhere that the Romans used to set women against midgets in the arena.

Wrestling (though scripted) did the same thing in the 60s and 70s…….

Can’t forget Dwarf tossing in the 90s…..

Women love to see men fight especially a man stupid enough to fight over them or another woman. Let women fight. That passive aggressive caca is even practiced by men nowadays, that is why there is so much hate in the world. In school our P.E. coach would see boys arguing or snipping at each other and he would ask if they would want to put on the gloves to settle it. The issue would be resolved, the boys would shake and forget it. No threatening each other on the internet, or other bitch behavior that could fester for months and possibly end in a shooting.

Let’s be honest a lot of women hate other women, give them an outlet to punch each other without worrying about going to jail or being sued.

To clarify I wasn’t referring to the spectrum of fake tough wanna bes when I noted men buying little dogs but other average types that are also sitting by for whatever destruction. On your points otherwise yes it’s ridiculous to be a poser with dogs, which makes same point as tattoos types etc, the comparison, letting freedom be ripped while being a poser. Your examples also go to point on ignorant people breeding agenda. Back to dogs there are very few born bad per say, with problem disposition regardless of training. Most are good, the problem is/are owners by failure on training.
Beside other things when I was growing up one of my parents was a dog handler and dog exhibit/show judge. That was long ago when the sport was interesting and fun, sport meaning something you do yourself, not only watch, but as with everything became sort of retarded. The breed standards changed such as shepards and dobies etc. Same with horses to some extent. They make everything ugly and commercial, to go along with an increasingly retarded population. Strong animals such as dogs and horses can increase sense of strength, by training them you practice mastery, and some spirit connection, and on the master portion should translate to people wanting to be their own masters instead of bowing to others, though seems hasn’t translated, as most people own dogs that run them, rather than other way around. Or otherwise the scum you mention that are lower than animals that don’t care about the animal. We needed to do our own population limiting, and other limits ourselves. Well this long enough, thanks for reply.

  44. Industrial Lesbians are the only “females” that are going to be attracted to this “sport”. The alternative is working in the back room at Walmart or working in a slaughterhouse. As for the fans, they are the worst of the worst, hideous, parodies of human beings.

  45. @Trinity

Boxing is OK if it’s restricted to males and the Marquess of Queensbury rules are followed, but calling it “beautiful” is the wrong choice of words. If boxing is beautiful then so are bloody car accidents, and injuries with massive head trauma.

As for females in wrestling and boxing, there are people who are fans of tattoos, gouging out ones eyes, snuff movies and every other sick and demented activity out there. You’re welcome to it. Just don’t be offended if I don’t trust you to look after my dog.

I am an animal lover who wanted to be become vet or zoologist when I was younger. I have raised dogs, cats and even horses. Hell, I even had pet crayfish, frogs and snapping turtles I would catch in ponds as a kid. Currently I have 4 dogs, 2 dachshunds, a dachshund/chihuahua mix, and an American bulldog. My dogs are spoiled rotten and are extremely well taken care of, they eat steak, salmon, for treats and the little ones sleep on the bed. The 110lb bulldog owns the couch. Even my vet says my dogs are the most pampered dogs she has ever seen. People rib me all the time about how I spoil my dogs. If your dogs spent one week with me, they wouldn’t ever want to leave my house.

My 2 “pure-bred” ky scratch hounds might be just as spoiled. Homemade food consisting of raw ground scrap venison, raw ground turkey scraps, canned salmon, hardboiled eggs (with the shells finely ground as well), supplements from dinovite & cooked rice.

Btw, they’re ankle biter size on purpose. It’s just much easier to clean up after them than our previous dog, an American Bulldog. And they take up less room in the bed. Although it seems the littler breeds tend to be more vociferous.

Back to the topic at hand, combat sports, especially female ones, aren’t for everyone. But to somehow claim they’re a symptom of declining culture is a bit much.

If you are going to own an animal at least take care of it. So many people want a cute little puppy or kitten and once the new wears off they don’t want to be bothered.

What was it De Toqueville wrote in the early 19th century? – That complete equality between the sexes in all things could only result in “weak men and disorderly women.” Welcome to century 21!

“Women love to see men fight”

I remember my boss’s secretary was practically on the ceiling when a dismissed employee burst onto the premises looking to “deck him”. I’d never seen her so excited.

And she was a nice girl too, but “the Colonel’s lady and Judy O’Grady are sisters under the skin”.

For the love of God, man! Please tell us you meant ‘prostrate.’ What the hell have you been watching?

Well that is how it is in the ghetto. The most psychopathically ruthless gangster/dealer/pimp “be gettin’ de hoes” & the rest of the males resort to “downlow” (They are used to this from prison) or raping white women or prostitutes.

Ever wonder at African-American urban levels of sexual desperation such as nursing home rapes.

That is what happens-also among primates such as chimps or baboons-when Superfly the Alpha Male rules the roost.

As for females fighting females, we all have known one resident salty tough broad who always wanted to fight other women or even males.

Often Dykes, but sometimes straight as well.

Let them have a sport for this.

This aggression has always existed in female locker rooms & bars.

Similar to super-slags who will just suck anyone’s dick or take it up the ass from five guys or do foursomes.

There have always been female exhibitionists.

  62. There is really no way around it: Dana White, Joe Rogan, UFC and the entire MMA culture actively promote beating women. They enthusiastically support the beating of women. It really can’t be denied.

What does it matter who is doing the actual beating? Just because it’s a girl delivering a knee to the head really doesn’t make it more acceptable.

We know women are more susceptible to concussions, torn ligaments, etc… than men. Sports once thought safe for women are now becoming suspect, like soccer due to head injuries from “heading” the ball.

Once again, hockey shows a common-sense approach. Top-level women’s hockey (Olympic hockey, and really, it is only the US and Canada who have elite teams) is non-contact. People don’t seem to realize this – but there is no deliberate body checking in women’s hockey. It is verboten, just like it is for boys/young men below the AAA or AA level depending on where you play. There are no open ice hits (except by accident – and half of those involve own-player collisions) and there is no crushing of defensemen into the end boards by power forwards after dumping the puck into the opponents zone.

Interestingly, this makes women’s hockey a much faster game than it otherwise would be.

In full contact hockey, the threat of physical harm – especially across the center-ice area (from blue line to blue line) – makes the style of play for elite players (ranging from 15+ year old AA/AAA up to NHL) very meticulous and conscientious. If you delivery suicide passes over the red line to your teammates, and they then get separated from their sense by a 220 lb brick shithouse at mid-ice, then you will not be playing for your team any more. People think NHL games are super-fast, because they are, in terms of puck movement. But if you were to remove body-checking, the actual speed of the flow and pace of skating would be off the charts.
