There has to be a Typical American Party, of people that think of themselves as typical Americans, led by Ted Cruz.

Exit polls in most of the primaries. For example Ohio, today. Trump dominated High school or less, 46% to 36%. Kasich and Trump were tied for “some college.” Among college graduates, 51% Kasich vs 31% Trump, and among post-graduates (doctors, engineers, MBAs, lawyers) Kasich 61% Trump 25%.

In Virginia, high school or less was 49% Trump, 20% Rubio, 4% Kasich. College graduate was 37% Rubio, 9% Kasich, 31% Trump. Post-graduate was 38% Rubio, 18% Kasich and only 23% Trump.

So sure, some college graduates certainly voted for Trump (though they were outnumbered) – but his base is the voter who never went to college.

He had on as a guest one Zeynep Tufekci, identified as an assistant professor at the U. of North Carolina, reporting her experiences attending the Trump rally at Fayetteville, N.C. Midway through the interview, Marco Werman asked her whether the Trump rally reminded her of anything, and she responded the “beer hall rallies” of Adolph Hitler back in the early 20’s in Munich which led to his arrest and incarceration for a brief spell in 1923 after he decided to add a little Putsch to his beer. (On Friday (3/11/16), The World on NPR featured an interview roughly at the 3:30 mark, even though the accompanying statement summarizing her interview contains no reference to her Hitler analogy but merely notes that “She compares Trump to Russia’s Vladimir Putin, or Silvio Berlusconi of Italy.” http://www.pri.org/stories/2016-03-11/immigrant-sociologist-s-view-donald-trump-rally)

I was immediately struck by the utter nonsense of her analogy because I could tell from the sound of her voice that she was not nearly old enough to have personally experienced Hitler’s “beer hall speeches.” So today I decided to do a little research on Ms. Tufekci and found some pictures of her which made her look as if she was 45-50 years of age. My searches found no sites which readily provided the basics of her background until I ran across an article she had written about a year ago for “The New Yorker” (5/15/15): “Then, in the mid-nineties, it happened—years later, in Turkey, than it did in the West, but, mercifully, while I was still in my twenties.” http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/innovation-dial-up-on-the-bosphorus Applying her statement literally, i.e., that she was still in her 20’s in 1995, means that she had to be no older than 29 in 1995, meaning that she was born no earlier than 1966. (If she were 25 in 1995, that means she was born in 1970.)

Since she was living in Istanbul in the mid-90’s, Ms. Tufekci had the opportunity to view the actions of Mr. Erdogan, the current President of Turkey, who served as mayor of Istanbul from 1994 to 1998. During that time, Mr. Erdogan delivered some highly inflammatory speeches which so infuriated the secular authorities that Mr. Erdogan was convicted of inciting violence and forced to spend time in prison. If Ms. Tufekci needed an analogy, she could have simply reached back into her recent past in Turkey and cited Mr. Erdogan, but that comparison would not have resonated with her listening audience as much as reaching back into the distant past and playing the Hitler card, even though the actions she cited occurred long before she was born and in a country far removed from Turkey.

This is what I found at one site: “Zeynep Tufekci is an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill at the School of Information and Library Science with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Sociology. So it appears that a woman, who was born in Turkey anywhere from 1966 to 1970 and lived in Turkey until she was nearly 30 (and I am speculating is probably a lesbian since she has “gender studies” on her resume), attends a Donald Trump political rally and is somehow reminded of the “beer hall speeches” by Adolph Hitler in Munich which culminated in the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch and Hitler’s arrest. I was aware of the “Beer Hall Putsch” and decided to do a little research. A review of Hitler’s history revealed very few “beer hall speeches,” and, as far as I know, there exist no recordings of those events which would allow a historian to savor the quality of those particular speeches. (The first “talkie” starring Al Jolson, “The Jazz Singer,” opened in 1927, four years after the “Beer Hall Putsch.”) Instead, what we have is the historical fact of the “Beer Hall Putsch” and the myth that there were many “beer hall speeches” and that they all resulted in violence. (One of the reasons Hitler delivered speeches in “beer halls” is that they constituted one of the then largest venues in Germany. John Toland notes in his comprehensive biography “Adolph Hitler” that the largest hall in the Burgerbraukeller in Munich seated 3000 while the Zirkus Krone seated around 6000, and they were the largest venues available in Munich at that time. It was only later that Hitler moved to larger venues like stadiums.)

It’s interesting to note that one of the few occasions where a “beer hall” speech resulted in violence occurred when a political opponent of Hitler was delivering a speech and Hitler and his forces decided to disrupt the proceedings. On September 14, 1921, Hitler, together with a substantial number of members of the Turn-und Sportabteilung, the paramilitary arm of the Nazi Party, and other Nazi party adherents, disrupted a meeting in Munich at the Lowenbraukeller of the Bavarian League. One Nazi, Hermann Esser, climbed upon a chair and shouted that the Jews were to blame for the misfortunes of Bavaria, and the Nazis shouted demands that Otto Ballerstedt yield the floor to Hitler. The Nazis proceeded to beat up Ballerstedt and shoved him off the stage into the audience. Afterwards both Hitler and Esser were arrested, and Hitler commented notoriously to the police commissioner, “It’s all right. We got what we wanted. Ballerstedt did not speak.” The Bavarian League was federalist organization that objected to the centralism of the Weimar Constitution, but accepted its social program. And then the MSM compound the evil by accusing Trump and his supporters of Hitlerite tactics while turning a blind eye to the groups which are clearly emulating the Brownshirt tactics of the 20’s and 30’s by trying to prevent opposing political groups from even speaking.

I think you are confusing The New Republic (“TNR”) with National Review (“NR”). That disturbing article you cite was written by Kevin Williamson for National Review. I can’t imagine him or anyone else writing a similar article calling for the demise of black communities, which are the repository of far more pathological problems than white communities. What you term the four parties aren’t parties, they’re voting blocs, or, more accurately, they’re hodgepodges of blocs. Or perhaps we could call them superblocs. In any case, don’t confuse parties with their constituencies. Firstly because parties are long and the groups that vote for them are short. Our ruling parties date from the 1820s and 1850s, for the love money. I’d be surprised if any blocs at all survive from then.

More importantly, the point of parties is that they’re open conspiracies to monopolize parts of government. Not all of government, because they don’t try that hard. They have gentlemen’s agreements and informal turf treaties. They boundaries shift, but mostly they keep to their territory. Anything to maintain control of the party itself. Stretching out risks bringing in elements that don’t toe the line, and might steal the leadership away.

I drift from the main point. Parties grab power through the electoral process, and to do so need constituencies. But that’s just the process. They don’t do it for the sake of the constituencies. Some do, maybe, though most of them do so through ideology. Ideology is the only motivating factor beyond money, power, prestige, and whatever else strokes the ego. And I suppose ideologies and the interests of voting blocs occasionally align. Still, that’s not why parties exist. Parties exist to promote the interests of the parties.

I know dozens of Trump supporters among my family, friends, and acquaintances across the country. Not one is a high school dropout. Most are college graduates.

As examples that come readily to mind, I have a doctorate and will be voting for Trump in the GOP primary in California; my closest friend here in L.A. is a college graduate / former public-school teacher (and Mexican, incidentally) and will be voting for Trump here too; my mother earned a Master’s degree in Education and will be voting for Trump in NJ primary; my father is a retired mechanical engineer and ditto; my best friend is a college graduate with a long career in journalism (imagine that) and will be voting for Trump in New York, I have lawyer friends in Virginia and Maryland who will be voting for Trump in the general election if he gets the nod, etc.

My wife — herself an immigrant from Asia who came here LEGALLY, speaks fluent English, and appreciates the old real America — would vote for Trump if she had her citizenship. I haven’t seen raw numbers so I can’t say that this supporters are mostly high school dropouts. What is clear is that he is much more popular among high school dropouts and people who never went to college, than he is among college graduates or those with post-graduate degrees, and that there is a direct and inverse relationship between support for Trump and level of education among Republicans. This does not mean that there aren’t some educated people who support him.

We are so confused because of the dissonance between rhetoric and reality.

Abstract ideas are viable in a roughly homogeneous world. Since everyone would take homogeneity for granted, people generally wouldn’t think much about tribe or ethnos.
Ideas are generally about individuality, psychology, and universal truths. Ingmar Bergman made films when Sweden was all white. So, his works are about God, human relations, psychology, angst. They are not about tribal politics. Even his war movie SHAME isn’t about tribe and politics. One area where Bergman did touch on tribalism was on the issue of Jews.

In a homogeneous world, there is less need to think of ethnic differences. So, people focus on the personal and/or the universal.

But in a diverse world, people begin to think in terms of differences. Ideas become inflected with tribal interests. Sometimes, it is outspoken and blatant, like the various nationalisms in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Or it can be covert and masked. Consider Sigmund Freud. He was very much a proud Jew invested in tribal concerns, but out of fear of ‘antisemitism’, he presented his ideas as purely scientific, rational, and universal. Neocons are the same way. They are essentially Zionist-nationalists, but they promote their ideas as being about ‘national interest’ or ‘American interest’ or ‘democratic values’.

When a society becomes less homogeneous with rising diversity, there will be more identity politics. People will begin to notice differences, opposing interests, and etc. If the minority is small and weak, it may just go along with the majority. But if the minority keeps growing bigger, it will demand its own interests. Or if the minority, however small, is very talented, smart, dogged, and arrogant — like the Jews — , it will seek its own interests above all else. Jews certainly do that in America.

We mustn’t knee-jerkedly attack abstract ideas. Ideas are naturally abstract, and all ideas tend toward universal or higher principles. Monotheism, after all, grew out of polytheism.
Most of the great European philosophers were abstract thinkers. And they could afford to think in such manner since they lived in stable homogeneous environments. Even if they dealt with diversity, it was within a larger homogeneity. Even though French, English, Germans, Polish, and etc differed in language, they mostly looked alike, belonged to the same race, worshiped the same God, and felt a cultural link to the same classical civilization of Greece. So, European diversity existed in a larger homogeneity.
Anyway, it was because Europeans shared so much in common that they could think abstractly instead of fighting endless tribal wars.

But when a society becomes diverse with very different peoples, matters of identity come to the fore. This is especially true if diversity is problematic and if some groups prove to be troublesome. A white society with Asian-Indians will have fewer problems than a white society with blacks. Asian-Indians may annoy whites, but they are not crazy, are not stronger than whites, and will do well in school and get along. In contrast, blacks are wilder, tougher, rougher, and will beat up white boys and hump white girls infected with jungle fever.
So, not all diversities are the same. (Social math works against white males in the long run. With rising tide of black African males into Europe, there will be more black male violence against weaker white males. Anyway, when diversity becomes problematic, people tend to stick with their own race. And then the other group feels likewise. These divisions are a problem, but they may be advantageous to the minority elites such as Jews who figure that gentiles fighting gentiles will be too angry and too divided among one another to come together to challenge Jewish power. Jews believe “diversity is OUR(Jewish) strength because it is a weakness among the goyim.”

A diverse society is less conducive to universal principles since every group thinks in terms of “us versus them”. But precisely for that reason, universal principles come to be promoted as the ONLY glue that can hold the various groups together. In America, it is the Rule of Law and the Constitution. The problem is Rule of Law has been undermined by the Jewish elites and their cuck collaborators. If we really did believe in Rule of Law and Constitution, there would be no ‘affirmative action’ and disparate impact’ programs. And we would return all illegals to their home nation since they broke the law to get here. And Jews who spy for Israel should be arrested. But Rule of Law doesn’t work like that in the US. Also, if US is about colorblindness, then US shouldn’t favor Jewish/Zionist interests above all others. But US favors Jews over others, all the more ironic since Jews, who demand tribal favoritism, are the ones who pontificate the most about the need for universal values and principles. Indeed, it is funny to observe Jews, who’ve been promoting their identity and interests so much, bitch about Trump pandering to white interests. The great contradiction of Americanism is the increasing emphasis on universal principles amidst increasing tribalism of identity politics as seen in Black Lives Matter, Israeli-firsters, La Raza reconquista rhetoric, and Homomania.

Because Rule of Law is broken in the US, there is a white rebellion against the elites who say one thing but do another. If Rule of Law is what is so important, why are all those illegals allowed to stay? And if US is indeed a democracy, how come oligarchic interests take precedence over mass/majority interests?

When Rule of Law turns into Rule of Flaw and anarchy spreads, there can be Rule of Claw. Or, people of identity may call for Rule of Lore, a politics of lineage, memory, and identity.

But universality and identity will always co-exist somehow. If we reject universalism and were able to create a totally homogeneous world, we would ironically end up thinking in universal and abstract terms. Indeed, suppose US not only turned all white but constituted the only human reality on earth. There is no world outside white US. Would white Americans in all-white America-as-the-only-world think about identity? No, identitarianism would disappear since everyone would have the same identity. It’s like we don’t think about air since it’s all around us. We only think about air in its lack that makes us gasp for air. We now think of identity because increasing diversity and non-white invasion make us aware of identity and to the threat to it.
But if whites could turn US into an all white nation and if white US were the only human world on this planet, identity politics would die and disappear. Why worry about something that is taken for granted? Politics is about anxiety of power. An all-white world need not worry about whiteness since whiteness would be everywhere. So, in a way, paradoxically it was homogeneity of white nations that made them so abstract and came to invite diversity… but then, it is the rise of diversity that sparks the politics of identity all over again.

Granted, even an all-homogeneous world may break into different identities. Suppose the entire world turned all white. Suppose everyone in the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia were white. Would they all be part of one world without identity? Not necessarily. After all, UK, US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are all Anglo, but they developed different political and historical identities. Different collective experiences separated by long distances can lead to new identities even among people of same race. We see the same kind of division between Chinese and Taiwanese.

Another way identities may rise even in a homogeneous society is that people may begin to notice small differences and then turn molehills into mountains. Hitler had this problem. He was so into ‘Aryan-ness’ than general whiteness that he made a big deal about how Germans and Nordics are better than other kinds of whites. And even though the Brits and Irish are racially very similar, the Anglos developed a negative view of Irish as like a trashy race of whiskey swilling potato munching boot tossing hot tempered louts ready to fight anyone who mutters ‘mother’ in the suspicion that it’s about HIS mother.

Anyway, I would say there is a way to balance the particular(Identity) and the abstract(universal). indeed, Jews have done this for 3,500 yrs. For it to have lasted this long, it must have great value. Jews conceived of a universal God as the creator of everything. This God stood for universal truths. BUT, this God also had a special covenant with the Jewish people. Even after Jesus came along, Jews still stuck to their guns of balancing universalism with particularism. And indeed Jews may outlast Christians. Christianity is dead in Europe and dying in the US. But core Jewish community remains very Jewish.

A people who are only into identity and particularism are too narrow in their focus, perspective, and world-view.
A people who are only into universality and abstraction are without roots, anchors, and steer.

But a people can have identity and universality. Jewish formula lasted for 3,500 yrs.
White folks need to reject Christian form of blind universalism.
Instead, white folks can have God and their own special covenant with God. We need covenantism.

Covenantism says there is indeed one God and one higher truth, BUT each people have their own special connection to this greatness.
And why not? There is one sun for all of Earth. But different places have different relations with the sun. Some places get more sun than other places. Some places get ‘too much’ sun, some places get ‘too little’ sun. Too much or too little, every place has a different ‘covenent’ with the same sun. The sun is the universal provider of energy for all of Earth. But the sun’s effect works different in Alaska than in Chile. Also, when one part of the world is day, another part of the world is night. When the sun is rising in one part of the world, it is setting in another part of the world. We all depend on the one and same sun. We all acknowledge the one and same sun. We all worship it. But each people develop their own relations with the sun. Egyptians had their own special covenant and myth of the Sun. Japanese had their own myth.
Greeks had their own as well. Same sun, but different ‘covenants’ with different peoples.

We need not think in terms of either/or or zero sum. If we can be creative like the Jews, we can have both universality and identity. And given that the Jewish culture is the longest surviving and living culture, it must be one hell of a formula.

So, what is the special covenant of white people with the Higher Truth, with God, with the sun, with etc? It is for the would-be prophet to play the role, seek the truth, and return to his people to offer it. To play the role of Abraham, Moses, Zarathustra, etc.
Who has the vision, who has the imagination, who has the patience to create this covenant?
Even as Jews believed in ONE GOD, they also believed that God had a special mission for the Jews.

Also, there is the matter of interpretations. No matter how abstract or universal a principle, there is no single truth in philosophy, spirituality, and politics. Christianity produced so many different interpretations. Indeed, even the four Gospels disagree on some key details. Peter and Paul disagreed on Jesus’ meaning. Paul’s version came to dominate because he had the vision and intelligence to make his version the most powerful.
Just like there are so many ways to adapt a book into a movie, there are so many ways to interpret an idea, universal or not.
Communism came in many flavors, and indeed some of the most bitter differences were among the communists themselves: Stalin vs Trotsky, USSR vs Red China, etc. In the end, those who know how to gain the power, influence, and ears can spin the ideology to their own ends.
Christianity divided into Catholicism, Protestantism(that produced so many sects), and Orthodox.
All Muslims believe in Allah, but Sunnis and Shias have big differences of interpretation.

Anyway, white folks need to be like the Jews in some ways. From Jews, white folks need to learn that they can be identitarian and universalist. White people can uphold the Golden Rule, human rights, individual liberty, and etc. But they can also say that white people have a history, heritage, territory, and etc. These are rich in meaning apart from ideas. Indeed, notice how each democracy has its own rules and elections. Even if the entire world were to turn democratic, each democracy is decided by its particular people. If we believed in a radical universal democracy, all the world should vote at the same time for the rulers of all nations and all the world. Instead, we believe that each democracy, though working on universal principles of human rights, has a special duty to serve the people of its own nation who are the ONLY ones allowed to vote. The rise of Trump has shown that democracy can be nationalist. American democracy means American PEOPLE get to vote it, just like Japanese democracy means ONLY Japanese get to vote in it. Each people have a different covenant with democracy. Israeli democracy is for Israelis only. Turkish democracy is for Turks only.

It’s been said that Newtonian physics, Einstein’s theory of relativity, and quantum mechanics are part of the same universe but work according to different rules.

Likewise, we simultaneously live in several layers of dimensions. We are matter and energy, and in this, we have something in common with everything in the universe, near and far, living or dead. We are also lifeforms, and that means have something in common with all living things, such as trees, bacteria, fungi. We are animals, and that means we have something in common with frogs, fish, insects, birds, cats, etc.
We are mammals, and that means we have something in common with dogs, bears, tigers, wombats, whales, and etc.
We are primates, and that means we have something in common with gibbons, chimps, orangs, gorillas.
We are human, and that means we have something in common with all human races, as well as with extinct ones like Denisovans and Neanderthals.
And among humans, there are different races. So someone might say, “we are white, and that means I have something in common with all Europeans.”

So, all those dimensions are real and legitimate. White people are both related to everything in the universe and also separate from everything in the universe. White people are part of stardust, part of life, part of animal world, part of mammaldom, part of primates, part of human species, but white people also constitute a special people that evolved under certain conditions in a certain part of the world. They also constitute a special race.
The rules that apply to the idea of ‘white people as mammals’ are different from the idea of ‘white people as humans’. White people have different obligations to animals than to humans. White people may kill certain mammals for food but not kill humans for food. And ‘white people as white people’ must follow a different rule than ‘white people as humans.’
Learn from the Jews. While Jews acknowledge that Jews are part of the human species, they also value, defend, and preserve their own unique culture, history, and heritage that developed under a particular set of circumstances and experiences.
Our motto should be, “If it’s good enough for the Jews, it’s good enough for us.”

We need to ditch the Christian way and adopt a kind of neo-Judaism. By that I mean that each people should devise their own special Covenant with God, Truth, or Reality. Each people should rethink their own history as a special covenant with the Higher Power.
Their covenant will be different from the Jewish covenant, but they should jealously guard as their own.

And why shouldn’t this possible? After all, even among Christians of the same sect who worship the same God, it is perfectly feasible to believe that each person hears his or her special and unique words from God. If God meant everyone to be the same, He would have made everyone look alike and think alike. But God made every person different in looks, shape, mind, emotions, and personality. Each person has his or her special soul. So, in a way, each person has his or her own ‘personal covenant’ with God.

If that works for individuals, it can work for a people, and this is the idea of the Jews. Jews believe there is one God for all mankind, but this God offered Jews a special Covenant. Jews found it cuz they sought it.
Any people who seek this truth may find it for their own kind.
But there is no finding before searching.

This covenant must be sought by the white race.

Actually, I came across something recently (strangely not in Toland’s comprehensive biography) that stated that Hitler did not become a citizen of Germany until a year or so before becoming Chancellor of Germany. Here is what the Wikipedia page summary says about Hitler’s citizenship:

“Nationality
Austrian citizen until 7 April 1925[1]
German citizen after 25 February 1932”

That seems like a strange gap between 1925 and 1932 for someone who was so active in German politics. I am not familiar enough with German immigration laws of the 20’s and 30’s to venture any opinion on whether that made him an “illegal alien.” He did serve in the German army for the duration of WWI and even after. Whether that affected his status or not, I don’t know.

He was like the Ted Cruz of his day, since I recall reading that Cruz did not get around to relinquishing his Canadian citizenship until a year or so ago.

There aren’t just some college-educated people who support Trump, there are many many millions.

And let’s not keep assuming that we should necessarily be impressed, any longer, with someone being “college educated.” I’ve spoken to many college students and recent college graduates who have less knowledge of American history, world history, economics, and simply life than most people who didn’t graduate from college.

They are up on all the latest pokestops. They can spout the currently fashionable bizarre ideas on transgenderism and the characteristic natural differences between men and women, without ever having been married, engaged, or even in a multi-year relationship.

They can pontificate on taxes without ever having paid any meaningful taxes, on the economy without ever having worked full time in the competitive marketplace, and on the glories of homosexual adoption of children without ever having or even thinking about having their own children.

In terms of substantive knowledge and skills, and in terms of character, a college degree today is often a reliable indicator that the bearer is less mature, less realistic, less reliable, less industrious, less independent, and less able to handle minor problems or divergent viewpoints, than people who didn’t go to college.
