It is probably not a good idea to write while in the grip of anger. But I am struggling to suppress my emotions about a wasted year, during which politicians and many doctors have ignored a growing body of evidence suggesting that Vitamin D can play a critically important role in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19.

It is time to speak out forcefully now that a new, large-scale Spanish study demonstrates not a just a correlation but a causal relationship between high-dose Vitamin D treatment of hospitalised Covid patients and significantly improved outcomes for their health.

The pre-print paper in the Lancet shows there was an 80 per cent reduction in admission to intensive care units among hospitalised patients who were treated with large doses of Vitamin D, and a 64 per cent reduction in death. The possibility of these being chance findings are infinitesimally small, note the researchers. And to boot, the study found no side-effects even when these mega-doses were given short term to the hospitalised patients.

Those are astounding figures that deserve to be on front pages, especially at a time when politicians and doctors are uncertain whether they can ever find a single magic-bullet vaccine against Covid as new variants pop up like spring daffodils.

If Vitamin D can approximate a cure for many of those hospitalised with Covid, one can infer that it should prove even more effective when used as a prophylactic. Most people in northern latitudes ought to be taking Vitamin D through much of the year in significant doses – well above the current, outdated 400IU recommended by governments like the UK’s.

Knee-jerk dismissals

This new study ought to finally silence the naysayers, though doubtless it won’t. So far it has attracted little media attention. What has been most troubling over the past year is that every time I and others have gently drawn attention to each new study that demonstrated the dramatic benefits of Vitamin D, we were greeted with knee-jerk dismissals that the studies showed only a correlation, not a causal link.

That was a deeply irresponsible response, especially in the midst of a global pandemic for which effective treatments are urgently needed. The never-satisfied have engaged in the worst kind of blame-shifting, implicitly maligning medical researchers for the fact that they could only organise small-scale, improvised studies because governments were not supporting and funding the larger-scale research needed to prove conclusively whether Vitamin D was effective.

Further, the naysayers wilfully ignored the fact that all the separate studies showed very similar correlations, as well as the fact that hospitalised patients were invariably deficient, or very deficient, in Vitamin D. The cumulative effect of those studies should have been persuasive in themselves. And more to the point, they should have led to a concerted campaign pressuring governments to fund the necessary research. Instead much of the medical community has wasted valuable time either ignoring the research or nitpicking it into oblivion.

There should have come a point – especially when a treatment like Vitamin D is very cheap and almost entirely safe – at which the precautionary principle kicked in. It was not only foolhardy but criminally negligent to be demanding 100 per cent proof before approving the use of Vitamin D on seriously ill patients. There was no risk in treating them with Vitamin D, unlike most other proposed drugs, and potentially much to gain.

Stuck in old paradigm

Already the usual voices have dismissed the new Barcelona study, saying it has yet to be peer-reviewed. That ignores the fact that it is an expansion on, and confirmation of, an earlier, much smaller study in Cordoba that has been peer-reviewed and that similarly showed dramatic, beneficial outcomes for patients.

In addition to the earlier studies and the new one showing a causal link, there is plenty of circumstantial evidence to bolster the case for using Vitamin D against Covid.

For many years, limited studies – ones that Big Pharma showed no interest in expanding – had indicated that Vitamin D was useful both in warding off respiratory infections and in treating a wide variety of chronic auto-immune diseases such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis by damping down inflammatory responses of the kind that often overwhelm hospitalised Covid patients.

But many doctors and politicians were stuck in an old paradigm – one rooted in the 1950s that viewed Vitamin D exclusively in terms of bone health.

The role of Vitamin D – produced in the skin by sunlight – should have been at the forefront of medical research for Covid anyway, given that the prevalence of the disease, as with other respiratory infections, appears to slump through the sunny, summer months, and spikes in the winter.

And while the media preferred to focus exclusively on poverty and racism as “correlative” explanations for the disproportionate number of deaths among BAME doctors and members of the public, Vitamin D seemed an equally, if not more plausible, candidate. Dark skins in cloud-covered northern latitudes make production of Vitamin D harder and deficiency more likely.

Magic bullet preferred

We should not be surprised that Big Pharma had no interest in promoting a vitamin freely available through much of the year and one they cannot license. They would, of course, rather patent an expensive magic bullet that offers the hope of enriching company directors and shareholders.

But that is why we have governments, isn’t it? They could have stepped in to pick up the bill for the research after profit-motivated firms had refused to do so – if not to safeguard the health of their populations, at least to keep their health budgets under control. Most developed countries, even those with lots of sunshine, have large sections of their population that are Vitamin D deficient, especially among the elderly and housebound, the very groups most affected by Covid.

But governments shirked their responsibility too. Most have not offered supplements beyond measly and largely useless 400IU tablets to the elderly, and they have failed to fortify foods. Those taking small doses are unlikely to significantly and quickly address any deficiency they have or maximise their resistance to Covid.

To give a sense of what was potentially at stake, consider the findings of one of last year’s correlative studies, done by a team in Heidelberg. Their work implied that, had the UK ensured its population was not widely Vitamin D deficient, many tens of thousands of lives might have been saved.

Science not ‘followed’

There are lessons – ones we seem very reluctant to learn – from the catastrophic failures of the past year. And they aren’t just lessons for the politicians.

If doctors and medical organisations had really been “following the science”, they would have led the clamour both for properly funded Vitamin D research and for its early use, if only on the precautionary principle. The reality is that very few did. In the UK it was left to MP David Davis, who trained as a molecular scientist, to take up the cause of Vitamin D and badger a government that has shown no inclination to listen.

Instead, “follow the science” became a simple-minded mantra that allowed scientists to ignore the medical science when it did not lead them in the direction they had been trained to expect. “The science” told us to stay indoors, to minimise our contact with daylight, to limit our exposure to fresh air and exercise. We were required to abandon all traditional wisdom about our health.

If one wants to understand at least some of the resistance to lockdowns, it might be worth examining that instinct and how deeply – and rightly – ingrained it is in us.

Scientific arrogance

If we learn anything from the past year it should be that the current, dominant, mechanistic view of medical science – one that too often disregards the natural world or even holds it in contempt – is deeply corrupting and dangerous.

This is not intended as a rant against science. After all, the mass production of Vitamin D – in the absence of useful sunshine in northern latitudes for much of the year – depends on scientific procedures.

Rather it is a rant against a blinkered science that has come to dominate western societies. Put simply, most experts – scientists and doctors – have not taken Vitamin D seriously, despite the growing evidence, because it is made in the mystical touch of sun on skin rather than by white-coated technicians in a laboratory.

Just as most army generals are invested in war more than in peace because they would be out of job if we all chose to love one another, most scientists have been successfully trained to see the natural world as something to be interfered with, to be tamed, to be dissected, to be reassembled, to be improved. Like the rest of us, they have a need – a very unscientific one – to feel special, to believe that they are indispensable. But that arrogance comes at a cost.

Unhealthy lifestyles

The default assumption of many medical scientists was that any claim for Vitamin D – sunlight – having curative or protective properties against Covid-19 needed not urgent, further investigation but dismissal as quackery, as snake oil. How could nature possibly offer a Covid solution that scientists could not improve on?

Unpopular as it may be to say it, that arrogance continues with the exclusive focus on vaccines. They will prove part of the way we emerge from the Covid winter. But we will be foolish indeed if we rely on them alone. We need to think about the way our societies are structured and the resulting unhealthy habits cultivated in us: the sedentary lifestyles many of us lead, the lack of exposure to nature and to sunshine, the gratuitous consumption on which our economies depend, and the advertiser-driven urge for instant gratification that has led to a plague of obesity.

There is no vaccine for any of that yet.

Already we are being forced into what are deeply troubling political debates – not scientific ones – around vaccines. Should vaccinations be made compulsory, or the vaccination-hesitant shamed into compliance? Should those who have received the vaccine be given special privileges through an immunity passport?

The reality is that whenever we try to “defeat” nature, as if our scientists were military generals waging war on the natural world, we are forced on to new and difficult ethical terrain. As we seek to “improve on” the natural world, we must also remake our social worlds in ways that invariably move us further from lifestyles that we have evolved to need, both physically and emotionally.

Magic of the stars

This is not a call to ignore science or reject Covid emergency measures. But it is a call to show a lot more humility and caution as we ponder our place in the natural world – as well as our constant urge to “fix” what the rest of the planet does not regard as broken. A year of Covid has shown how disruptive our meddling can be and how fragile the systems of progress we think we have permanently created really are.

When our politicians and regulators agitate for tough new restrictions on the public’s right to free speech, claiming fake news and misinformation about Covid, maybe they should remember that trust has to be earnt, not mandated through laws. A world in which profit and power rule is also one in which the likely response from those who are ruled is doubt, scepticism or cynicism.

Maybe I should not have written this while I was so angry. Or maybe others ought to be angry too – angry about the fact that many, many lives were almost certainly lost unnecessarily, and may continue to be lost, because those who profit from disease have no incentive to protect health.

We ought to be angry too about how in a better-ordered, more caring society, we might have found ways to avoid the worst excesses of lockdowns that have deprived our children of an education, of friendships, of play, of life in all its variety and excitement, and of sunshine. They lost all that while our politicians and their scientist enablers poured huge sums into labs, into test-tubes and into man-made magic bullets while contemptuously ignoring sunlight because it is free and everywhere and because it is a different kind of magic – the magic of the stars.

There has been the expected social media backlash from some quarters against this post. I even appear to have angered the odd white-coated lab technician! Some doubtless did not actually read beyond the soundbite I offered on social media. But sadly, others seem to be highly invested in deflecting from the central argument I am making. So here it is in a nutshell:

The only sane response to the Vitamin D medical studies showing dramatic benefits for those hospitalised with Covid is to demand urgent government funding of further research to test those findings and to use Vitamin D in hospitals in the meantime on the precautionary principle, given that it is very cheap and has proven to be completely safe.

If you are trying to obscure that point, you should do so only if you are absolutely certain that these medical studies are wrong. Otherwise your behaviour is, on the best interpretation, shamefully irresponsible.

At the same time, we can’t ignore the need for zinc in the fight against cold and flu viruses. Studies have shown that the American public is wholly deficient in zinc. The thalamus uses zinc to produce the very antibodies needed fight off viral infections. And, as we age our ability to absorb zinc is diminished due to reduced stomach acid to break down the food we eat. Plus, eating unfortified processed foods also contributes to loss of zinc needed by the thalamus.

“Zinc gluconate, zinc acetate and zinc sulphate have all been shown to reduce the severity and duration of viral infections such as the common cold. Zinc also appears to be the key ingredient in treatment protocols using hydroxychloroquine (HCQ).

The reason for this is because HCQ is a zinc ionophore (zinc transport molecule), meaning it’s a drug that improves your cells’ uptake of zinc. Once inside your cells, zinc prevents viral replication. This is also why zinc and zinc ionophores need to be taken very early in the illness, or as a prophylactic.”

  5. Thank you, Mr Cook, for bringing this information once again to the forefront based on this recent study. While perhaps angry, your article was nevertheless constructive and focused, and not just an emotional rant without basis like we are prone to get nowadays. People best get angry and speak out soon as you have. If the Capitol Police can overwhelmingly issue a vote of no-confidence in their leadership regarding Jan 6th, cannot we, the populace, take that example to organize and register the same no-confidence in our government and Big Pharma? Please forgive my digression.

I wish to present my personal experience regarding the use of Vitamin D.

About 5-10 years back, a general practitioner I had just begun seeing determined from a regular blood analysis at a yearly check-up that I was deficient in Vitamin D. He recommended taking 5000 IU daily. For the record, the soft gels I am taking are 5000 IU D3 extra strength, equivalent to 125 mcg. The product is widely available.

Over this period then I have been adhering to his advice fairly religiously (not always daily), so that subsequent analyses have shown that the deficiency has been remedied.

My personal information:, I am 68 and weigh around 170, in good physical condition and rarely sick, so I assume my immune system is functioning well. I have never had a flu shot or other vaccines recommended for folks over 65. I watch what I eat and how much.

My business and personal activities have fortunately not been affected by the appearance of Covid, nor did I have any intention of allowing the measures to do so as long as it was in my ability. I had already been working part-time out of the home and my “outside” job is at a stable (horses are wonderful therapeutic creatures) performing day-to-day duties, maintaining the pasture and providing kindling for the household. I am on somewhat of a hiatus now because of the snow and low temperatures in the Chicago area.

I only wear a mask when required in stores, never around the barn.

So, that is my experience and habits to date. Out to shovel snow shortly.

Everyone is different, so I do not prescribe to one-size-fits-all solutions. To just brush off and disregard alternative means to combat ANY illness is in my opinion malevolent. Besides, didn’t our eminent Dr. Fauci himself state at one time that HE is taking Vitamin D? I rest my case.

Thank you again, Mr. Cook, for your dedication and, Ron Unz, for The Unz Review.

Same for K2, best to use steamed cruciferous veges for K2 (… like steamed broccoli with a little real butter and toasted [tellicherry] peppercorns ground in a mill). Of course, for all ingredients organic is best, because then you don’t have to take glycine daily to displace glyphosate.

And for those who take zinc, it has to be balanced with copper, then used with an ionophore like quercetin. (… however, under cases of pneumonia, quercetin will actually exacerbate symptoms [reference upon request], so in this case HCQ might be better.) See your functional medicine or naturopathic practitioner for perhaps more informed recommendations.

“Our government — including Federal, State and Local officials, in concert with both the medical system and our alleged “public health” agencies deliberately spread disease and caused death for the last year, directly and through depraved indifference, killing approximately 400,000 Americans thus far and is killing thousands more every single day. We knew how to stop the death in nursing homes in February of 2020 and we knew how to stop 95% of the deaths in the general population this summer using cheap and available nutritional supplements and off-patent medications. Rather than fulfill their legal duty both by their oaths of office and in the case of non-profits and public health organizations the duties set forth in their charter and the reason for their tax exemptions they instead conspired with commercial interests to allow and even promote such death so as to inculcate fear in the population for the purpose of political, ideological and financial gain.

These actions are deliberately being undertaken and have been since March of 2020, and have caused mass death, for the express purpose of a political and/or ideological result.

That is the entire point of terrorism — to scare people into compliance with a set of political or ideological demands by making the public fear that they will die next if they do not do as the terrorists demand.

We’re coming up on 500,000 dead Americans folks and most of those deaths were avoidable.

Something like 130+ times the number of people Bin Laden killed on 9/11 in avoidable deaths were caused by intentional refusal to follow up on what was learned and even harassment of well-respected medical institutions that dared to speak against their suppression was undertaken with another 9/11’s worth of death being accrued at present every single day.” – from

Academics at elite U.S. teaching hospitals did not speak up because they feared the loss of government grants. Journalists could have contacted them and promised anonymity, but they would not have trusted remaining anonymous. Suppose the elite virology/immunology experts at Hopkins, Harvard, etc. had spoken up, en masse? A unified presentation. But that’s hopeless, and that failure will remain
the case. America has a predilection for trusting the snake-oil salesman.

  14. The refusal of the Western Medical Mafias to acknowledge the role of Vitamin D mirrors their total refusal to accept proven and safe medical treatments such as hydroxychloroquine plus azithromycin and zinc, and ivermectin. That total refusal, plus active disinformation campaigns such as the appalling Lancet study that had to be withdrawn, claiming cardiac dangers in the use of HCQ, indicate moral perfidy of an extraordinary degree, but the question must be -why?
Clearly the blood-sucking greed of the ghouls of Big Pharma and their Medical Mafia stooges is at work. Ivermectin and HCQ are cheap, off patent, and destroy the need for expensive crap like remdesivir, and the tens of billions industry of vaccines. Having worked in hospitals for some time, I’d say that most doctors I encountered were medical businessmen, in it for the dosh and prestige, and a considerable percentage were psychopaths, some very nasty.
I also suspect that the vaccines may be quite dangerous, particularly the m-RNA ones. Whether this is a deliberate policy to inflict harm, or just a result of greed run mad, we will see.

It doesn’t even take a leap to “conspiracy theories” (even ones that are demonstrable, like collusion between government and pharma) to make the reasonable suggestion that the effectiveness of simple and readily available measures should be examined before jumping to extreme measures like mass lockdowns and rushed next-gen vaccines.

Why is common sense such a hard sell?

Substances that have a prophylactic effect or that alleviate the symptoms of Covid-19 have not been ignored, they have been deliberately and actively suppressed. Paul Craig Roberts is bang on target for this one imo.

Why are authorities enforcing ineffective measures while ignoring proven successful measures that greatly reduce the Covid threat and perhaps eliminate it altogether? Is it because the proven measures are inexpensive and offer no opportunity for large profits from vaccines? Is it because the “Covid pandemic” is useful for mandating control measures that curtail civil liberties? Is it because the lockdowns decimate family businesses and enable further economic concentration? The answer is “yes” to all three questions.

With all my respect and even admiration for Mr Cook, I have to repeat that he has no medical competence or understanding, and it shows. Journalism and medicine don’t mix.

The linked study (which was an abstract) has been taken off the link for good reason. At any rate, I am thoroughly familiar with the pre-print. I only quote 3 comments to the pre-print page that, in my opinion, summarize the principal reasons why this is, medically speaking, a totally worthless publication, which cannot allow any conclusions to be drawn.

Before accusing specialists of “scientific arrogance”, one should be held to the same standard of scientific competence.

This does not mean, of course, that the medical establishment does not lie, obfuscate, collaborate with fascist police-state measures, corruptly disappear valid data and promote more profitable but totally worthless recommendations. It certainly does a lot of that and has lost the right to anyone’s respect if it ever had any. But that’s still not a valid reason for pushing quackery.
Below are 3 readers’ comments selected to summarize the main reasons why the quoted study, or at least the medical pre-print paper referenced, is worthless:

These are interesting results, it they’re valid. Unfortunately there’s no way of telling if these results are believable, since the manuscript contains no information at all about the randomisation and alloacation procedure – as far as I can see. The authors should provide a detailed description, in line with the CONSORT statement (http://www.consort-statemen…). And since research findings travel very fast these days, the authors should do this right away.

There is no placebo. In my view its unetchical even to do a studly like this, how on earth is it possible not to include a placebo and make the study randomised and double blinded?

Dr. Julian Keogh • 4 days ago
Although the paper claims it is a randomised study, it also says that all patients treated in 5 wards received calcifediol treatment, while all three of the other wards received no calcifediol. How this study can be considered randomised is therefore questionable (maybe the wards were randomised but that is a very poor level of randomisation). It is also presumably open label, meaning that the attending physicians and decision makers would have been well aware whether the patients were receiving calcifediol or not.[continues with several other invalidating points]

  20. Most people are deficient in Vitamin D and most elderly are severely deficient. Your body creates Vitamin D naturally when sunlight penetrates the skin and interacts with the fat underneath. Due to fun with technology, people spend much less time outdoors and some elderly people never feel sunlight, especially during the winter months. Darker skin is more difficult for sunlight to penetrate so such urban people are often severely deficient in Vitamin D, which explains their higher rate of COVID-19 deaths. Vitamin D is rare in food so most people get little. Experts agree on this, yet our governments never mention the need to take Vitamin D supplements or getting out into the sun, they just scream about wearing masks. Is this because sales of Vitamin D provide no profits for the politically powerful pharmaceutical industry?

Multi-vitamins provide the recommended 600 units, 200 to 400 more are recommended for the elderly, obese, or those who rarely feel sunlight. Some doctors recommend 5000 units a day during the winter and to resist this virus. Vitamin D supplements (called Vitamin D3) are cheap and everywhere. One problem is that oral Vitamin D3 is very difficult for the body to absorb. One must take supplements for weeks before it has spread throughout the body, so taking it after getting sick does not help much. It also repels other viruses and common colds.

I had read about this in several places and then saw Joe Rogan talking to an expert who advocated 5000 units a day. Rogan said he now takes 5000 units after his doctor and others told him the same thing, so I bought some at Costco, they are 2 cents for each small 2000 unit tablet. Two of those plus my multivitamin gives me 5000 a day.

I have read about this before. I suspect this might be why tropical countries like Singapore with first world healthcare has a death rate of 0.04%, less than the flu in the US which is 0.1%.

Meanwhile in neighboring Malaysia which is majority Malay Muslim, with modern though not as good as Singapore’s healthcare, the death rate is 0.3%.

In Indonesia, which is much less developed than Singapore or Malaysia, the death rate is 2.7%. One study came out last spring indicating the majority of Covid deaths were found to be deficient in Vit. D. 97% of Indonesians and 60% of Malaysians are ethnic Malays with darker skin tone, they are also Muslim and thus are covered from head to toe unlike the Singaporeans who are 70% ethnic Chinese and mostly wear shorts and t-shirts.

However, it is curious that in the US, the three deadliest states are also the three sunniest states: CA, TX, FL, with AZ not far behind. In CA, the deadliest county is LA county, with current temperature sunny and in the 60’s and even 70’s in Jan/Feb. I wonder if most of the dead were browns and blacks with high obesity and high melanin thus less capable of breaking down sunshine into Vit. D.

Overall death rate in the US is at 1.8%, but I suspect most of the deaths occurred earlier last year. Doctors are getting much better at treating it.

I’ve also read that during the Spanish flu, one doctor moved all his patients outdoors and found that majority ended up recovering when they weren’t expected to.

It was obvious those recommending this wanted to further cripple our immune systems and render us as vulnerable and sick as possible. Indeed this is a regression to medieval recommendations for treating the plague. Only a few innovative doctors recommended the opposite. Today, as part of the overall atavistic medieval regression over “Covid” (the cult wingnuts that wear face diapers outdoors clearly have regressed to belief in the toxic miasma, that the air itself is poisonous), medicine itself regresses to the most ignorant, know-nothing medievalism.

This quote is the most perceptive of the piece:

“If one wants to understand at least some of the resistance to lockdowns, it might be worth examining that instinct and how deeply – and rightly – ingrained it is in us.”

Our natural psychology is attuned to our naturally evolved immune and nutritional systems and knows what we need. Everything the institutions are trying to enforce on behalf of globalism in the name of “Covid” goes directly against our health.

  28. It’s not just vit D that is suppressed – although as the author says, it is the most rage-inducing, since the deprivation of it (exacerbated by the lockdowns) reduces the immune system.

Pretty much the only “approved treatments” (not gonna call them “vaccines”) are mrna or similar.
That includes Pfizer, Moderna and the Chinese version, and (correct me if I’m mistaken) the Astrozeneca variant which acts on DNA before affecting rna.

Only the Russian Sputnik is of the traditional sort of vaccine, and it hasn’t been approved by the WHO yet.

My take on it is that mrna tech was originally developed to find a cure for cancer, but so far stalled at the animal trials.

    Gene therapy prophylactic chemotherapy

This might sound wonderful but it won’t be available for just anyone, at least not until the world’s population approaches Georgia guidestone guidelines.
It’ll only benefit those with a superabundance of wealth & power.

The clock is ticking for the world’s movers & shakers who might want a chance at living forever.
They want a scientific breakthrough, and soon, but if research is done “properly” we are decades away from human trials.

That’s too late for Mr Gates Mr Soros & Mr Thiel, and for whoever is pulling strings in any nation or multinational organisation.

Hence the mass human guinea pig project.

It looks like there might be hope for those who have regrets after their genes have been modified.

In the UK it was left to MP David Davis, who trained as a molecular scientist, to take up the cause of Vitamin D and badger a government that has shown no inclination to listen.

The UK shadow state doesn’t like David Davis. He never agreed to co-operate (unlike Tony Blair, Boris Johnson and the rest of them). They want client politicians.

Already we are being forced into what are deeply troubling political debates – not scientific ones – around vaccines. Should vaccinations be made compulsory, or the vaccination-hesitant shamed into compliance? Should those who have received the vaccine be given special privileges through an immunity passport?

I recommend reading “Covid-19: The Great Reset” by Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret. It makes it clear that Covid-19 is a key political component in Davos’ (Henry Kissinger’s) NWO project. The first chapters are lies about the awful threat from Covid-19 equating it with the plague, and the remainder are a call for governments to suspend basic freedoms and coordinate their actions at a higher level (guess from where). It’s peppered with the phrase “the crisis must not go to waste”.

When our politicians and regulators agitate for tough new restrictions on the public’s right to free speech, claiming fake news and misinformation about Covid, maybe they should remember that trust has to be earnt, not mandated through laws. A world in which profit and power rule is also one in which the likely response from those who are ruled is doubt, skepticism or cynicism.

The public are there to be lied to and manipulated. Like George Orwell said:

“There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always— do not forget this, Winston— always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever. ”

This worked incredibly well in keeping patients from getting sicker…Kept them out of the hospital..

Hydroxychloroquine still hasn’t been adequately studied…The HCQ studies had low patient numbers and I think they were stopped so this drug has not been adequately studied conclusively….Plus Trump praised the drug so the drug was cast into the abyss….

  35. Thomasina says:

The medical government agencies (who could have done testing with government money) didn’t want to do testing on already-existing, cheap, off-patent drugs, zinc or Vitamin D because, if they did and they worked, they wouldn’t have been able to issue a EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) to the vaccine manufacturers. You can only issue an EUA if, and only if, there isn’t already-existing drugs that work.

I can understand Big Pharma not wanting to do any testing because with off-patent drugs there’d be no money in it for them, but the government agencies COULD have done testing. They didn’t. Why not?

This has nothing to do with “arrogance” (as Mr. Cook suggests), but everything to do with “money”.

Sunshine is the easiest way to get it and if you have a darker skin get more of it. Otherwise, three to five thousand I.U. of it is sufficient orally. Doctors usually prescribe a dose of fifty thousand I.U.’s for three days to bring up levels in Vit D starved people. They even teach some of its ideas in elementary schools. Statistics mania. I remember one case when in some university some “statisticians” refuted the ability to understand statistics by some mathematicians that had not taken “statistics” courses. These “statisticians” obviously didn’t even know that the mathematical foundation of statistics involve topics of which even most engineers never hear (example: functional analysis, with calculus in measurable spaces, (advanced) theory of probabilities). There was in the NYT once upon a time an article telling the story how in some experiment 99% of the doctors gave the wrong advice based on the given data. Even professors of medicine. Therefore, the argument of the doctors that you provide do not move me one millimeter.
Suppose we study 100 people standing under the rain. 90 of them end up with their heads wet. Conclusion: Standing under the rain gets your head wet.
The study has been conducted without placebo, i.e., no one was told that he was under the rain when he was not.
Does the lack of placebo invalidate the study and the conclusion? Of course not. The study and the conclusion are very sound.
The same hundred people above did not randomly pick their geographical positions, they were told to stand in the areas marked with their initials. In some cases even more than one person ended up in the same area. Some areas were empty.

The current EBM double blind study “requirements” depend on the innumeracy and scientific illiteracy of the both the doctors and the public to enable their overbroad claims of “proof” and “disproof”, as well outright misrepresentations and misinterpretations. I frequently see insitutionally approved/accepted papers skipping over huge gaps and patent defects that should have been obvious to any competent investigator who reviewed prior art thoroughly. The Brazilian CQ overdose/medical murders are not the only example of this by a long shot.

Basically, “good” studies often enable 5 minute medicine to use 2 minute science in their clinical decisions with some legally/medically accepted methodolgy. These are not be all end all analyses by any stretch of the imagination. Bayesian statistics and post Bayesian modelling can be better places to start for complex situations or complicated data fields that are broad.

Operations research analyses, examining more variables and models with a more action oriented logic, is often fruitful in dealing with short time situations that will take academics (and FDA) decades to resolve decisions in the transition between original correlation and accepted causation.

If you take Vitamin D supplements (D3 is best), you should also supplement Vitamin K2.
Sunlight exposure (moderate) is best because you also get AMPs (Anti-Microbial Peptides) and other goodies.

D and K combo is optimum, but if you have no K or are a stingy bas*ard, then Now Foods 5,000 unit D is good. Take it every day. Since D is fat soluble your body stores it. At 5,ooo units, if you forget to take it one or two days no big deal. Now Foods is reputable brand. I have taken various from them for years. They make Vitamin K too which I have in my refrigerator.

If your health is not so good then do not depend only on sunlight for your D. Even in a sunny California or Florida. Older you get, getting your D from sunlight, this (your) conversion becomes less efficient. Take a D supplement too. Your liver is part of what processes and distributes D from sunlight. There also might be other gaps in your body, for you, in this distribution of D. So for anti-Covid take a D supplement.

If you have fatty liver then flood your zone with D supplement. Do your research with search terms “Fatty liver” and Carb —-Low carb actually, the low-carb movement is growing, are always running down fatty liver from over consumption of carbs and junk carbs in the US

Carbohydrate intake and nonalcoholic fatty liver … – NCBI – NIH › articles › PMC4405421
This study suggests that human fatty liver accumulates fat during carbohydrate overfeeding and support a role for DNL in the pathogenesis of NAFLD. I’m with the author but let’s be devil’s advocate for a moment. The piece quotes only (correct me if I’m wrong) the results of one or two studies. If you really try (ask a lawyer) you can always poke holes in almost any study whether finally vidicated or not. So if someone manages to find some fatal error or exaggerates some aspect of of the paper, the case made by Cook here is badly damaged. Actually this is what some folk have done elsewhere as regards the Spanish study. As I argue below, this is likely to be irrelevant.

Here’s the real argument: vitamin D modulates immunity. This is an undeniable fact if you check out the literature. However this effect can be <> by one or more factors, sometimes in concert. Thus epidemiological studies are beset with problems along the lines: what was the precise nutritional status and overall status of the participants? Were there personal genetic factors at play? What was the exact regimen used in the studies reported. Disentangling multiple factors in such a study is a stupendously difficult task if you want to come to some executable conclusions.
We don’t share all the multiple factors but we do share the basic biochemistry to varying extents.

By the way it’s worth noting that vitamin D3 as obtained in supplements has to be activated by body and this can take several days. Upping your blood level can take a long time for reasons which are not absolutely clear. There are active forms of vitamin D which can be used under medical supervision and they have been effective.

When people are in solitary confinement in their homes they less likely get sunbath, more likely get sick and more easily tested positive for covid.

Come on cannot make a proper state of emergency, proper police states, and paranoia if there are not at least some bases to that.

On a sidenote – other useful measures:
    – Send them food-packs where forbidden meat/ animal products (includes lard/ other fat) to be included. -> near the profit of the cheering vegan-environmental terrorists you contribute people get more likely sick because many vitamins have proper effect only when there are fats present
    UK master course.
    – Force them to wear masks.
Near the various psychological benefits (separation, social deprivation, partial sensory deprivation/ communication hardships, suicidal thoughts, lack of learning progress – to recognise facial expressions, etc…) mandatory masks wearing can help to make people mildly ill physically as extended periods of mask wearing able to contribute into it.
Extreme measures like mandatory mask wearing during childbirth (France – if still active, was in last spring) even improves performance.
    – Paranoid cleaning/ anti bacterial measures:
Great help to breed super bacteria (superbugs) which rsistant for not just the overly used antibioticums, but also anti-bacterial chemicals.
    – Denial of health care:
Health care needs to reserved for covid cases. (And off course for HRT/ sex reassignment surgery that is essential for the cheering wokies/ left-liberals.) Prevention of health problems/ diseases, or detection by medical screening undesirable, and when can deny also treatment. -> this helps to make people less healthy and more likely in risk (for at least a false positive covid). Also helps to increase a bit death rates, as the evil virus deniers too often point the more-or less lacking excess death rate statistics. Near the suicides, need more deaths, people who lost business, work, income, malnutrised/ lack of vitamins/ depressed, etc.. can contribute to both.
When treatment cannot be avoided must mark it as covid, make diseases disappear like pneumonia, flu, etc in favor to increase covid cases.

Sure various other measures also very helpful to more likely make people ill/ sick, and contribute to cases (covid positive)/ justify anti-covid measures, like lockdowns.

  63. That’s an easy answer. Money and control. Doctors are no longer interested in healing. Its all about management or repeat business. They have been scaring people from the sun without massive sun blocking grease on. No natural vitamin D for the compliant. Then there is D from fish, meat, and dairy. Same goes for zinc. What have the docs told you about fish, meat, and dairy? ” Cholesterol! Don’t eat it.” Stick with nutrient deficient lettuce and get your four doses of grain. Throw in vaccine’s inert ingredients, and you have an excellent recipe for illness (or rather repeat business).

As for the politicians, they just want to kill us for kicks. Maybe we’re an offering to some ancient god. Or because criminally insane Bill and Melinda will pay them slush money for our corpses. Who knows except for the fact they want to kill us.

I wondered why such a person would limp. And why were so many of them overweight? Even the police here pulled over and asked why I was walking. They were bewildered at why an owner of a car would walk a few miles to do a small errand, just as I was bewildered why someone would get in their car and drive 3 or 4 blocks to do a small errand rather than walk.
So now I see that all that walking we old NYers were used to doing is paying dividends with all sorts of stored vitamin D absorbed directly from the suns rays all my life on my skin.

Whatever would make you think that the 500 000 US Covid “deaths” were avoidable, given the prevalance of pre-existing comorbidities, the age, and the degree of frailty in the overwhelming majority of those “cases”?
I live in Alberta, Canada, where the average age of a Covid “death” is 82. Over 60% of the deaths occurred among people already consigned to long-term care, and 72% of such “deaths” were among people who suffered from three or more of the following comorbidities:
Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, Cancer, Dementia, Stroke, Liver cirrhosis, Cardiovascular diseases (including IHD and Congestive heart failure), Chronic kidney disease, and Immuno-deficiency.
Another 14.1% of Covid “deaths” were among people with two of those conditions.
Your claim that “We knew how to stop the death in nursing homes in February of 2020 and we knew how to stop 95% of the deaths in the general population this summer using cheap and available nutritional supplements and off-patent medications.” in no way squares with the fact that Covid deaths occur principally among the very sick, very old and very frail. Do you really believe that you can stop deaths among such people?

The collapse was supposed to start a little later than 2020. But the World model was not supposed to be a forecasting tool. I guess it is amazing that it should be so close to reality 40 years on.

It seems pretty obvious to me that those a few levels above Bill Gates, Trump, Biden, Johnson, Macron, Merkel were obliged to start their preparations as soon as reality sunk in.

The first doomsday computer model, based on Forrester’s System Dynamics, revisited with the R programming language

The rectangles below represent LEVELS. The ones with a triangle on the side represents RATES per unit of time. The CIRCLES are intermediate derived values. The surprising thing about these models is that the starting values have little effect on the eventual outcome of the model.

  78. Here are two blog posts that highlight this issue. An expert appears at a city council meeting and says lockdowns are ridiculous and getting more Vitamin D is effective prevention.

    Nov 30, 2020 – COVID Censorship

The oddest thing in COVID politics is the outright censorship of discussions. Youtube has quickly deleted videos by medical doctors who state this is not a pandemic or suggest cheap cures. A recent exception is Dr. Roger Hodkinson who offered his informed perspective to Edmonton’s City Council on how governments responded to COVID-19. He called for the end of restrictions, mask use, testing, and social distancing. This was just posted Nov 19th so perhaps Youtube has yet to ban due to Thanksgiving and it hasn’t many views yet. Or maybe this is allowed because it was a formal government meeting and he is an expert in the field.

Hodkinson is yet another medical doctor to suggest that ample Vitamin D makes one nearly immune to COVID-19. You could see him speak last year on Youtube, but now:

His speech could still be heard at this link, but now its been disabled at a site called Banned Video.

The doctor is also currently working on pathology as Executive Chairman of Bio-ID Diagnostic Inc., a private company that develops tests for identifying COVID-19 infection. Here are some of his comments:

“What I am going to say is lay language and blunt,” Hodkinson told the Edmonton City Council Community and Public Services Committee.

“The bottom line is this,” he addressed the group. “There is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians. It’s outrageous. This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.”

“There is absolutely nothing to be done to contain this virus other than protecting your more vulnerable people. It should be thought of as nothing more than a bad flu season. This is not Ebola. It’s not SARS. It’s politics playing medicine. And that’s a very dangerous game.”

Continuing, Dr. Hodkinson added, “Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence based on their effectiveness whatsoever. Paper masks and fabric masks are simply virtue signaling. Seeing these uneducated people walking around like lemmings, obeying without any knowledge base to put the mask on their face.”

He also claimed social distancing is pointless as COVID-19 “travels by aerosols, which travel 30 meters or so before landing. And closures have had such terrible unintended consequences. Everywhere should be open tomorrow. Next, the doctor touched on testing. “I’m in the business of testing for COVID. I do want to emphasize that positive results DO NOT, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection. It’s simply driving public hysteria and all testing should stop.”

The only thing Dr. Hodkinson advocates for is to “protect the vulnerable” by giving all nursing home residents daily doses of vitamin D.

  83. The Blind Faith Mythology of Covid by the Pseudo-Intellectuals and Atheists in the Age of Evil

Silicon Valley atheists have faith that God does not exist and have faith that covid exists, even though nobody has proven to the pseudo-intellectuals and atheists that God does not exist, and nobody has ever proven to the pseudo-intellectuals and atheists that covid exists, but it has been proven that covid does not exist when 1,500 covid samples were examined by seven different universities using electron microscope examination which revealed that all of the samples were infulenza A or influenza B. Dr. Derek Knauss also called the CDC and asked for the covid virus genome sequence, which the CDC said that they do not have.

    Shown here:

This places covid in the category of cult practices. People accept covid on faith alone, and even when rock solid evidence is found to disprove the outright fraud of covid they choose to believe in it regardless, and have made extraordinary lifestyle changes in order to accomodate the mythology of covid. Of course the fact that they all tremendously benefited financially is motive for them to perpetrate this fraudulent myth which they should be sentenced to life in federal pennitentiaries for and have terrorized the country and world over the mythologically  and scientifically fraudulent cult of covid.

Well, the LA Times apparently did not think that it was relevant that the CDC has confessed that there is no such thing as covid, and decided to feature an article on new vaccination eligible recipients, all of whom happen to have higher than normal health costs and risks, and new borns are really just an expensive pain in the ass for the government too, so you can now officially refer to this as a Eugenics targeted assassination genocide program.

    LA Times:

    Who is now eligible?
Those who will be eligible in March include those with:

Cancer, current with debilitated or immunocompromised state
Chronic kidney disease, Stage 4 or above
    Chronic pulmonary disease, oxygen dependent
    Down syndrome
Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
    Sickle cell disease
Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies (excludes hypertension)

They Are the Persistence Which Must Be Met With Resistance!
Their Lifestyles Are Crime Against Humanity! MICIMATT InfraGard Cult  of Corruption!

CNA James, whose video the criminal psychopathic hacker prevented me from watching, has stated that people are dropping like flies from vaccines in the nursing home that James is employed in.

    As I have previously reported:

Well, It sure as hell appears that the vaccines are killing many more people than they are reporting because on November 16, 2020 there were 2,487,350 annual total deaths until November 16,2020. Verses 2.7 million to 2.9 million total deaths per year between 2015 and 2019. On December 22,2021, they report that there have been 3.2 million total deaths in America. So, between November 16,2020, and December 22,2021 there were 712,650 deaths. So, once again, medical error is the third leading cause of death in America, but they are claiming that it is covid. It is their treatment and prevention of covid that is responsible for far more deaths than “covid”! Of course they claim that the Novemeber numbers might not be accurate, because it is nearly impossible for the government employees to be able to count to over two million and get it right the first time. That is just expecting far more from government employees than they are capable of doing!

Now The Atlantic Council is worried that there may be a pandemic, and are insisting on DoD spending. Deja vu! Where did they ever come up with that idea?! Let’s not and say we did, since we already did that, and it did not work, a few times, in 2020, 2009, & 2003. They consider themselves to be ideas people and a think tank.

I also discovered that in 2017, the Trump administration issued an edict that all conversations by any scientist that works for the government, including the CDC employees must be cleared through the Atlanta Communications office, which was then required to be cleared by Mike Pence after the scamdemic, according to Harvard Law Edu:

“Motivating the Knight Institute’s concern in this instance is a record of severe restrictions on the rights of government scientists to speak freely to the press. In 2017, Axios published an email from Jeffrey Lancashire, a public affairs officer, to the National Center for Health Statistics, announcing that for every employee of the CDC “any and all correspondence with any member of the news media, regardless of the nature of the inquiry, must be cleared through CDC’s Atlanta Communications Office.”

“According to recent news stories, scientists and health officials at the CDC must now coordinate with the Office of Vice President Mike Pence before speaking with members of the press or public about the pandemic,” the complaint reads. “These stories have raised concerns that public health experts who know most about the risks to the public are not being permitted to speak candidly and that the information the government is now conveying may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading.”

A similar article appeared on Global Research which mentioned that the seven universities intended to sue the CDC for the RT PCR tests, which is outrageous since they were their partners in crime that profiteered off of willful ignorance and blatant lies through huge research grants by the government as well as research and patent grants by Big Pharma, in addition to grants received from the government for the lock downs that they demanded! What in the hell took them so long to finally get around to doing the electron microscope test exams? Why did Michel Chossoduvsky who is a professor not demand this to be performed at Ottowa University where he is a professor? Michel Chossoduvsky was also a consultant for the WEF, UN, and the WHO, in addition to numerous governments around the world. If any single person had the connections to put an abrupt halt to the scamdemic, it would be Michel Chossoduvsky. Michel Chossoduvsky has been against all of the scamdemic from the start, but his lack of action leaves me astonished. If Chossoduvsky demanded these things from the university that he works at, the Canadian government, the UN, and the WHO, his complete silence on their refusal to meet reasonable requests of proof of covid through electron microscope exam is staggering! For the UN, the WHO, the WEF, and governments around the world to claim that they were oblivious to the information on Global Research is nothing short of a totally scandalously unbelieveable claim as well! Like hell they do not pay attention to and read his website! If they stopped, it was strictly in order to feign ignorance!

This page has been removed from Global Research

When I was first alerted to the page being removed from Global Research, I searched and found the link for libertyinternational, and also found exerpts with the link to the Global Research article in the hoaky website, which has conspiracy theories of QAnon,  Lizard People, and earth invading aliens, and GlobalRisk which a hacker prevented me from visting so I do not know if the mention of the lawsuits by the seven universities against the CDC was included on that website’s article with the same title or not.

Obviously, it was Global Research that removed the article, perhaps by request because of the mention of the lawsuits and my reaction of justifiable rage to the lawsuits. So, are the lawsuits now, Above Top Secret? Would it surprise anyone if they were? If there are secret FISA courts, maybe there are secret arbitrage courts. I hope that they simply dropped them matter, but knowing how corrupt those organizations are, I have little faith that that is what happened. After all, had over $21 trillion missing from the Pentagon.

Pick a Direction that is Not Heading Twowards Evil and Corruption

The ruling class has to change course. If someone were to chart evil and corruption, the same way that they chart stocks, they would see that it won’t be long before they all decide to blow up the entire planet with nukes. I am not exagerating. They just get more and more evil! The scamdemic was a Globzi psyop.

Now they want to vaxx pregnant women, for a non life threatening virus, which was what really startled me, particularly since the vaccines have been killing so many people. When California decides that pregnant women should be vaxxed, which they did, it kind of looks like they plan on nuking the earth to me! Actually, almost everything is startling! What isn’t startling? These people are out of their minds! They just leave me stunned and dismayed! It is truly shocking!

The trajectory of the level, intensity, and frequency of evil and corruption is bleak for humanity and all life on earth!

How do we stop them? Hint, Republicans or Democrats are not the answer!

If anyone wonders what is wrong with America, the stock market answers that question. The government,  stock market, and economy, financially reward irrational gambling which has been made exponentially worse with a culture of bail outs, and punishes financially responsible behavior both by leaving the financially responsible on the hook for the recklessly irresponsible, and because they are not receiving generous government bail out subsidies that the recklessly irresponsible are receiving.

It is not limited to the stock market that corruption and reckless, evil, violent, destructive behavior are rewarded, but since most large companies are publicly traded, they have monopolized policy that is in the worst interests of this country, and everyone in it.

They financially reward evil, destructive, corrupt policy as a way of life. They also financially reward violating the constitution through the financial support of the techno-cratic surveillance

Far too many people have placed their own financial interests not only above the interests of humanity and the country, but against their own lives and their own families lives by financing the surveillance state which would not exist to anywhere near the extent that it does without tremendous financial support.

Far too many Americans have also placed their own financial interests above their own best interests, families best intersts, and the countries best interests by continuing the propaganda, in the John Bolton under-world view that the truth ought to be protected by a body guard of lies, and refusing to report the truth because they were financially rewarded for pretending to espouse the legitimacy of the political system, the judicial system, the corporate sector, and just about everything else in this country.

The fact that foreign sovereign wealth funds and foreign individuals have a financial vote in how our country is run and which rights we are illegally deprived of is treasonous.

Foreign banks should not be Federal Reserve member banks and should not ever receive bail outs. I do not even think that our own countries banking institutions should receive federal bailouts other than FDIC insurance and insurance on deposits limited to the account holders and should be limited to U,S, citizens and  legal residents of the United States.

Of course ETFs have made all of this even worse.

America will never be great as long as the MICIMATT InfraTard
( InfraGard )  surveillance state exists, and the people in the surveillance state are fully committed to trying to cheat their way through life, and fully committed to being wrong, fully committed to being anti-American, fully committed to being constitutional rights violating serial criminals, fully committed to being evil, fully committed to being terrorists, and fully committed to being pathological liars, proving that they are 100 times more stupid than retarded people. It is a strategy that is guaranteed to lose. Even a retarded person would know that, but not the beyond retarded, shit for brains, nincompoops in the MICIMATT InfraTard surveillance state of corruption.

The surveillance state is a net loss to the economy and to the country, which rewards anti-American behavior, elslaves everyone that is under surveillance, and exalts mentally incompetent serial criminal psychopaths at the expense of law abiding, patriotic, mentally competent, Americans.

Shi Zhengli (simplified Chinese: 石正. 丽; traditional Chinese: 石正麗; born 26 May 1964) is a Chinese virologist in a Wuhan institute and is the world authority on the subject of bat coronaviruses similar to the ones that since 2005 have been known to have caused the SARS pandemic of 2002-3. She has found them in Chinese villagers who has never knowingly been near a bat. Just seen then flying about at night over their village. Incidentally in mid 2019 Shi wrote in an internationaly published scientific review article that there was a danger of a novel SARS-like pandemic in humans from Chinese and other bats. Bats have extremely efficient mitochondria (for flying) and the side effect of that is their immune system is amped up to a degree that makes them super resistant to viruses.

Some species, such as the Egyptian fruit bat (Rousettus aegyptiacus), Mexican fruit bat (Artibeus jamaicensis) and mole-rats (Cryptomys damarensis and Heterocephalus glaber), have evolved to subsist without the need for exogenous or endogenous vitamin D3.

Bats also need to have defences against all the free radicals that their mitochondria produce.,don’t%20shorten%20with%20age.

“Potentially they may have evolved a unique process to lengthen their chromosomes without inducing cancer, which may keep them young,” she said. “These results will help us design better intervention methods to slow down the ageing process and ultimately extend human health-spans.”

In Vitamin D and aging Tuohimaa (2009) argues that optimal level of Vitamin D is in the range 40-60 nmol/L. However the current recommended minimum is 75 nmol/L, which is in the danger area of the U-shaped Vitamin D levels risk of cancer suggested by

The so called anti viral Remdesivir, mainly works against Covid-19 by quelling the immune system. The other couple of proven treatments for Covid-19 (dexamethasone, tocilizumab) are thoroughgoing immune modulators, actually immune suppressors, because they are used to treat auto immune diseases.

Anyway, I think it is possible that very large doses of Vitamin D put ones level up high enough to suppress the immune system inflammation acts as an immune suppressant and if one has a nasty case of Covid-19 reduce the symptoms, but whether that would make one less resistant to catching Covid-19 in the first place seems very uncertain. I take the view that high levels of Vitamin D are dangerous. Tuohimaa pointed to increased risk of prostrate cancer outwith the range 40-60 nmol/L.

Next thing you know you are taking 15 pills for breakfast every morning, without really knowing if they efficacious or not.

My doctor told me years ago, when there was a big craze about taking some vitamin C supplement, I believe it was 2000 units (i dont know if it was milligrams or micrograms or what) every day. He told me your body couldn’t process it and about 90% of it was pissed out of your system without ever being taken up by your body. I believe this applies to most mega doses of any vitamins or minerals.

This has been verified by a good friend with a PHD in nursing, your body simply cannot absorb these things in a concentrated, manufactured form.

Eat a healthy diet and you will get all of the vitamins and minerals you need in much smaller concentrations that the body can absorb.

Eat healthy, no processed foods period, cut down on or avoid meat, get lots of exercise in an outdoor environment. Consume all things in moderation, and accept the fact that everything that lives also dies.

  91. @gotmituns

    You got it.

In a few weeks my plan is to get back to my homestead hermitage in the Northwoods of Minnesota. During the 9 or so warmer months of the year, I’m outdoors for a huge chunk of the day, armed with #2 spade, wheelbarrow, chainsaw and other implements of con-destruction. Three major gardens (organic) and 5 smaller beds. Heat and cook with wood I cut, walking water and running outhouse (though I cheat in the cold months).

Mailbox is about 300 yards down a long driveway. Do a lot of rock-work and landscaping efforts. Was in superlative shape for a man in his early 70’s until an incident landed me in close, cramped urban quarters. But soon to escape all that and get back to the healthy lifestyle all humans are hard-wired to experience. They Mayans got it right. They abandoned their cities and got back to the hills, woods and creator’s own environment.

Because I keep moving most of the time while outdoors, I don’t need to give a fat, furry, flying fart about “harmful” UV rays when in the sunshine. If you lay on a blanket or whatever at a beach, you are allowing those rays to concentrate and infest your receptors. Stoopid. We were born to be real. In the urban situation you are doing an okay job of being your own physician by simply walking. So yeah, you got it.

  94. @Che Guava

    Hey CG-

My understanding is that Vitamin C is fundamentally the cement that is used to repair cellular and other tissue damage in the body. Obviously, it is a potent antioxidant, but for me personally, it works best for repairing damaged tissue, whatever the cause. Thus, beyond the recommended RDI of around 80mg/day, it may not be so good at preventing disease, as it is in repairing damage that is caused thereby, wherein it is needed in abundance, as my example below demonstrates. Unless you smoke or engage in other activities that damage tissue on a daily basis, over and above what our normal activities and metabolism requires.

MedlinePlus seems to agree with my personal assessment of vitamin C as a putative preventative measure:

My body reacts poorly to vitamin C in anything over 50 to 60 mg/day, causing aphthous mouth ulcers and abdominal pain with diarrhea, as it burns the lining of my gut in any amount more than the absolute minimum my body needs at that given moment. Yet, when I had a very bad influenza back in 2006, I was able to take vitamin C amounting to 12 grams per day, in six divided dosages of 2 grams per serving! I could literally feel the great difference in healing that the C supplementation brought me, literally within hours of ingesting it. It was miraculous. And absolutely no side effects or discomfort. This incredible turnabout lasted about eight days, paralleling my bout with that VERY nasty bug. As soon as I started to recover after a week of absolute respiratory hell, that tolerance began dropping like a rock, and I was shortly back to getting bowel pain at anything over 80 mg, basically a large orange. The parallel was uncanny, but quite enlightening.

Of course, most people can take mega doses of C with few, if any, side effects other than a bit of diarrhea, i.e., ‘bowel tolerance’ level. Lucky them! 🙂

They used such studies to limit the size of supplements for A and D. So in Canada we are limited to vitamin D supplements of 1000 units. Having done that, of course, they boxed themselves into a corner and could no longer promote larger doses.

As you say, the studies were quite likely scams. Like a few others pissing on natural supplements.

The properties of Vitamin D are neither her nor there with regard to Covid deaths. During the fake pandemic of 2009, my son, who was in early adolescence, developed symptoms of a respiratory illness. This was at the peak of H1N1 hysteria. I brought him to a run-of-the-mill General Practitioner who laughed at the prospect of H1N1. This doctor informed me that he had tested a number of patients presenting with similar symptoms, and not one test had been positive for H1N1. In fact, this doctor said that a significant portion of those patients tested were positive for an airborne form of chlamydia. His advice was to take 2000 iu of Vitamin D during our long subarctic winters, and half that during the summer months, advice I continue to follow to this day.

    Bingo! Bingo! Bingo!

It is ALL about “The Jab”!

Been screaming this for over a year, when this first started happening. Covid is irrelevant. It is merely a vehicle to gain admission to our veins for their ultimate designs and desires, which are malevolent beyond most human imagining. But not ours, obviously, as we see right through it.

They want/need to establish the precedent of having unrestricted access to our circulatory systems, and this is the first shot across the bow. Pig Pharma loves the profits and is an avid player. But make no mistake, this is ultimately about population reduction. Vast reductions.

Not to say they are wrong about overpopulation being the greatest threat to the survival of the Earth as a reasonably hospitable place to live. I just hate the obnoxiously ham-fisted approach that the elites and their minions are so obviously going about it with. Maybe there wasn’t any other way forward, as most folks like to breed, and some, like rabbits.

But it still makes me sick to know the PTB will likely succeed in their plan, especially if scum like Gates, Fauci, Soros, the Clintons, etc. etc., are the ‘elites’ who get to ‘flourish’ while the rest of us ‘perish’……

    Dear Three of Swords,

I’m 73 years old and also adhere to a personal regime of daily vitamins: B-complex, vitamin D3 (5,000 IU), Saw Palmetto (prostate) and Lysine (inhibits virus infection).

Up here in western New York it snows November – April so it’s difficult to get daily exercise. However my fellow senior citizens don’t realize that shoveling the driveway is a great way to exercise if you lift properly by using the legs and not lift with the back. The air is cold but refreshing and moving the arms and legs keeps all the parts working. A warm shower afterwards and a cup of green tea completes the day.

    melanoma is real

But is it caused by sunlight? It’s commonly found on the bottoms of the feet, in the armpits, on the inside of the mouth and up the anus. Where the sun don’t shine.

Some of us old geezers remember the marketing campaigns to get us to cover up and apply sunscreen, ever more powerful sunscreens, actually. Then of course they had another to demonize and outlaw tanning machines. All pushing panic and fear. Censoring any opposition. Much like today.

Anyone remember any gold-standard, double-blind controlled studies to determine whether sunscreen prevented melanoma?

Course, then there was the cholesterol scare, that went on for decades. Interesting that cholesterol on the skin is converted to Vitamin D by sunlight.

All the vaccines we’re getting in the US are the biggest “soak-the-taxpayer” hoaxes. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines both use the novel synthetic protein mRNA which has never been tested for long term effects. Both claim 95% efficacy. Meanwhile, China’s vaccine uses the good old fashion dead virus to spur your immune system like regular flu vaccines, and they achieve 78% efficacy in preventing mild cases, but 100% efficacy in preventing severe cases, which means at worst you’ll get a mild case. Why aren’t we just using the good old fashion vaccine like the flu vaccine?

Above all, HCQ, which cost $7 per treatment, is the cheapest, surest way to get us out of this. But they say it’s “not safe”. That med has been used for decades! Replying only to you, as all other responses to my post are made by people too ignorant of medicine to even read and understand what I wrote.

I only commented on the design and analysis of this particular study, which make it worthless.

You are absolutely right in requesting intensive and rigorous testing, in the presence of sufficient anecdotal observations that suggest some efficacy in Covid-19 patients (this study we commented on, referred to by Cook, may also be included in the unsupported early observations.)

The main problem with the absence of rigorous testing, of course, is money and power.

For example, hydroxychloroquine has been signalled, in anecdotal evidence and non-controlled observational “studies”, to be effective in clearing the virus load when administered very early, at or before the first symptoms.

What did official medicine (and governments) do? Immediately organize a lot of trials with a lot of patients that “forgot” the only real critical point: all such “studies” either omitted to note the time from first symptom to administration, or they gave it too late. And they made sure to publicize very loudly the “lack of efficacy” — when it was not given as described, in the first place. They also raised a hyped-up scare of side effects. And they also promoted and hyped to the max a drug that had practically worthless initial observations, remdesivir. Note that the first of these drugs costs practically nothing, and the second one thousands.

So you’re right: even though Vit. D has been studied extensively (with not much of a positive result) in different conditions, it should certainly be tried properly in treatment of the new coronavirus disease. This here is NOT a proper study, though.

In fact, this sort of invalid trials make it easier to dismiss many treatments as ineffective.
As long as we don’t have properly done studies, though, it remains quackery. The good thing about Vitamin D is that it won’t be toxic except at sustained and very high doses.

    @paranoid goy

Yours is the argument that really resonates with me: namely, none of the vaccines currently “recommended” by CDC in their childhood vaccine schedule were tested against an inert placebo in their Phase 3 clinical trials. All the “placebos” were previously-approved vaccines, or the cocktail, including adjuvants, minus the antigen. If I’m wrong, please show me where. There are many good reasons to be skeptical of “vaccine safety,” but this one takes the cake.

Interestingly, the mRNA vaccines were tested against a true inert placebo, which is one good thing I can say in their favor. Also, they don’t contain aluminum or squalene adjuvant, and they’re probably not contaminated with other viruses like most vaccines grown on cells/tissues.

But, alas, the Pfizer and Moderna Phase 3 cohorts will be unblinded, if they haven’t already been. Control group participants have been allowed (encouraged?) to take the jab because it’s so safe and it will protect them, don’t you know? It would be unethical to withhold this life-saving therapy for two whole frightening years. So it goes…

  125. Here’s a report, rocket scientists. Address these issues if you can

zoonotic disease outbreak such as SARS-CoV-2 was anticipated. However, scientific understandings of this particular virus and its impacts on the human body are still underway with critical uncertainties regarding: (1) viral clearance and dormancy; (2) extent of organ damage; and (3) the possibility of re-infection and Antibody Enhancement Effect with ongoing viral mutations. Scenario planning around these uncertainties has been limited. This summary asks readers to envision a seemingly-unlikely but high-impact scenario that shall be called “Betacoronavirus Collapse Disorder” based on 3 assumptions:
Viral colonization of organs as virus circulates in endothelial cellsi challenges viral clearance and/or creates a post-viral syndrome (e.g., cardiac and central nervous system sequelae) that is lasting, debilitating, and increases susceptibilities to other diseases/syndromes, such as Guillain Barre syndrome
Human immunity is inadequate to prevent reinfection to SARS-CoV-2 mutations, particularly because covid-19 downregulates T cells
Political, economic and social pressures undermine needed adaptations, particularly because poor and minority workers are predominately at-risk, leading to cascading infrastructural failures as workers become increasingly sick, especially through re-infection of mutated virus
RISK INDICATORS for this scenario include:
Post-Viral Syndrome: Preponderance of evidence supporting post-viral syndrome, characterized either by lack of viral clearance or irreparable and life-shortening cardiac and neurological damage.
Re-Activation or Re-Infection: Evidence that anecdotal instances of re-activation or re-infection apply generally to all or most infected.
Sudden-Onset Secondary-Disease Outbreaks, exacerbated significantly by SARS-CoV-2, caused by influenza or unusually pervasive and virulent bacterial infections

Accelerating numbers of sick workers across production, distribution, and retail supply chains
EVIDENCE warranting this type of scenario planning:
Testimonials: Expressions of scientific uncertainty and concern by top-level public health authorities and whistleblowers
Clinical and Epidemiological Research: Growing clinical evidence of persistent and troubling lung, cardiac, neurological, and reproductive sequalae cited below
Laboratory Research: Growing laboratory evidence of SARS-CoV-2’s unique “innovations,” such as the furin cleavage feature, optimizing its capacities to hijack cells
Trending data on sick workers – Based on Google Alert Set up for “covid-19 and sick workers”
ARGUMENTS for Considering this Black Swan Scenario:
    1. Unstoppable Spread:
    a. “Persistent Spread” Former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb on CBS’s “Face the Nation” May 2020.ii
    b. German Chancellor Angela Merkel “We have to understand that many people will be infected” …. “The consensus among experts is that 60 to 70 percent of the population will be infected as long as this remains the situation.”iii

But it does not have to be this way.”iv
    2. Unique Viral and Disease Features:
Laboratory and Clinical Research Findings – Not merely a SARS-like respiratory disease
    i. Circulatory Disease – SARS-CoV-2 hijacks Endothelial cellsv and attacks ACE2 receptors found across the body, including vital organs such as the heart and central nervous system. vi Post-infection immunity uncertain.vii
    1. Inflammatory Disease – Cytokine storms increase direct damage to organs caused by virus while the antibody enhancement effect threatens should re-infection occur.
    2. Neurological Disease – virus can be found in the brain or cerebrospinal fluid Neurotropic properties and may produce neurological diseases.
ii. Troubling post-viral sequelae – e.g., ME like syndrome.
iii. Uniquely Optimized Viral Features Discerned in Lab:
    (1) SARS-CoV-2’s optimized receptor binding-domain (RBD), which refers to the way the virus binds with the human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) molecule as a result of its unique S protein, far outstripping the capacity of SARS.
    (2) “functional polybasic (furin) cleavage site,” which becomes the target of considerable scientific scrutiny and debate.viii The particular S protein increases the binding power of SARS-CoV-2 to human cells, while the furin, or special enzyme, facilitates its capacity to cleave cell surface proteins to penetrate their exteriors.ix

Viral infections have detrimental impacts on neurological functions, and even to cause severe neurological damage. Very recently, coronaviruses (CoV), especially severe acute respiratory syndrome CoV 2 (SARS-CoV-2), exhibit neurotropic properties and may also cause neurological diseases. It is reported that CoV can be found in the brain or cerebrospinal fluid. The pathobiology of these neuroinvasive viruses is still incompletely known, and it is therefore important to explore the impact of CoV infections on the nervous system. Here, we review the research into neurological complications in CoV infections and the possible mechanisms of damage to the nervous system.

…we now understand that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) also involves multiple other organs, including the central and peripheral nervous system. The number of recognized neurologic manifestations of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is rapidly accumulating. These may result from a variety of mechanisms, including virus‐induced hyperinflammatory and hypercoagulable states, direct virus infection of the central nervous system (CNS), and postinfectious immune mediated processes. Example of COVID‐19 CNS disease include encephalopathy, encephalitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, meningitis, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, venous sinus thrombosis, and endothelialitis. In the peripheral nervous system, COVID‐19 is associated with dysfunction of smell and taste, muscle injury, the Guillain‐Barre syndrome, and its variants. Due to its worldwide distribution and multifactorial pathogenic mechanisms, COVID‐19 poses a global threat to the entire nervous system. COVID‐19. ANN NEUROL 2020;88:1–11 ANN NEUROL 2020;88:1–11

Placentas were examined and compared to historical controls and women with placental evaluation for a history of melanoma. Results: 16 placentas from patients with SARS-CoV-2 were examined (15 with live birth in the 3rd trimester 1 delivered in the 2nd trimester after intrauterine fetal demise). Compared to controls, third trimester placentas were significantly more likely to show at least one feature of maternal vascular malperfusion (MVM), including abnormal or injured maternal vessels, as well as delayed villous maturation, chorangiosis, and intervillous thrombi. Rates of acute and chronic inflammation were not increased. The placenta from the patient with intrauterine fetal demise showed villous edema and a retroplacental hematoma. Conclusions: Relative to controls, COVID-19 placentas show increased prevalence of features of maternal vascular malperfusion (MVM), a pattern of placental injury reflecting abnormalities in oxygenation within the intervillous space associated with adverse perinatal outcomes. Only 1 COVID-19 patient was hypertensive despite the association of MVM with hypertensive disorders and preeclampsia. These changes may reflect a systemic inflammatory or hypercoagulable state influencing placental physiology.

There was that nursing home in France…

Data which further illuminates the protective role of ivermectin against COVID-19 comes from a study of nursing home residents in France which reported that in a facility that suffered a scabies outbreak where all 69 residents and 52 staff were treated with ivermectin (Behera et al., 2020), they found that during the time period surrounding this event, 7/69 residents fell ill with COVID-19 (10.1%). In this group with an average age of 90 years, only one resident required oxygen support and no resident died. In a matched control group of residents from surrounding facilities, they found 22.6% of residents fell ill and 4.9% died.

Here they’re talking Ivermectin but the FLCCC prophylaxis and early treatment protocols also include vits D3, C, Zinc & Quercetin, i.e. “cheap and available nutritional supplements and off-patent medications.”

I think it’s reasonable to say even the oldest of the old would benefit.

Why was it administered without an accompanying antibiotic?”

Questions along those lines, and that’s from me, a lay person. The doses were wrong and not what doctors had been saying would be optimal, and were given way too late. It’s as if they went out of their way to make the trials a failure! I read several of them, and even I wouldn’t have been that stupid. Witness the Lancet retraction. They wanted a FAIL.

Anyone who’s been into natural health in the past 30 years knows the immune system boosting benefits of Vitamin D. The reason that they totally ignore it is because they (the pharmaceutical companies) can’t make the enormous profits from selling vitamin D, that they can from selling inoculations. Many books have been written on the subject and they all point to the fact that Allopathy (modern medicine) is not about curing disease, it’s about selling drugs and procedures to make money. The first book I read about the subject many years ago was by Eustice Mullins (The biographer of Ezra Pound). The title of the book is “Murder by Injection”. It goes into how up to the end of the 19th century, all medicine was basically, naturopathy, when chemists realized they could make a lot of money selling nostrums made for basically nothing in the lab they approached doctors and the pharmaceutical industry was born. You needed “legitimate doctors” to recommend these products to a suspicious public and the American Medical Association was born, and later the American Cancer Society. There has been a symbiotic relationship between the pharmaceutical industry and organizations like the AMA ever since. How can you believe anything that comes out of the mouth of supposed “experts” like Fauci when you know that the CDC is a private company that people think is a government agency and has patents on at least 56 vaccines.

Here is my suggestion: how about giving different doses in a double-blind manner and watching how the patients react? If the effect is dose-dependent that should be a clear-enough proof that the stuff works. If Lancet is not willing to publish the study it should be published in a less high-minded but perhaps more benevolent journal.

In fact “they” did everything possible to deny us the D and to deny us the Herd immunity. Most virus will disappear when the temperatures reach nice, sunshine in the air (UV) and saltwater maybe. In some ways they fully attacked the White races, who developed their successful whiteness ability to generate vitamin D, a successful adaptation that makes the whites , well to put it mildly not die off as a species. It’s the only reason the white race is still alive and well. It’s the only reason that there are whites.

So, how did indigenous folks survive the winter? They ate organ meats whenever possible… at every ‘kill’, the organs were immediately diced up, with every group member getting their share.

In fact, there’s much worse to say about that than the insufficient testing.

It’s the billions and billions cashed upfront to produce a messenger-RNA immunization, something that has not been observed for even a short time (in fact the start of this sort of method is only a few years old.) So we don’t have the foggiest idea of what could happen middle-term and long-term. No idea.

“Theoretically nothing could go wrong” as wrote one of the Fauci toadies. But so it was with thalidomide of hallowed memory. Remember?

But they cashed the billions (for Warp Speed and for Defence and for other things), they cashed more billions on the stock market, they cashed more billions with the price-gouging. And, best of all, they got immunity against all damage claims! Also, they forgot to update storage requirements on time who it became almost impossible to distribute.

  154. joe2.5 says:

Unethical it’s not, as there is absolutely nothing yet to seriously establish that the substance is beneficial (or even not damaging.) Patients who buy their own OTC and swallow it can be factored in the study design when calculating necessary patient numbers, as the available patient numbers in a pandemic is practically unlimited (except in China, where they do serious public health.)

To compare effect by dose-dependence, first some effect should be there, which *begs the question!*; then the drug effect must be known as dose-dependent and its kinetics, threshold and ceiling should already be known, meaning there should already be a well-described and measurable effect, and a lot of studies already available (none of that is available today.) Even if all that were available, just comparing dose-dependent effects against the hypothesis of absence of any effect would need (my own totally off-the cuff estimate) more subjects than there are patients available.

As for “a less high-minded but perhaps more benevolent journal” the only possible meaning of that phrase is a pay-to-play, unethical, fake-science journal. Look, the established and big-name journals are hard enough already to get to comply with a few basic principles and requirements, and only in the very exceptional case do the reviewers get to check the data itself; in fact often enough one’s advice to skip a worthless study because of incompetent design or is plain ignored.

Thanks for the link to the “Our Finite World” blog. I haven’t read the article yet, but, while skimming over it, one paragraph drew my attention:

There seems to be a significant chance that COVID-19 is lab-made. In fact, the many variations of COVID-19 may also be lab made. Researchers around the world have been studying “Gain of Function” in viruses for more than 20 years, allowing the researchers to “tweak” viruses in whatever way they desire. There seem to be several variations on the original virus now. A suicidal/homicidal researcher could decide to “take out” as many other people as possible, by creating yet another variation on COVID-19.

It was refreshing to see that someone certainly smarter than I has had the same suspicion I have (a suspicion which I have expressed earlier on this website). As I have pointed out repeated times, here is something worth considering:

Stephen Goldstein, a virologist at the University of Utah, said the British variant displayed “too many mutations to have accumulated under normal evolutionary circumstances”.

  173. DrWatson says:

Here are some findings for your consideration, Sherlock.

First, when I type “vitamin d covid 19” into google, 3 top stories pop up:

Vitamin D not effective in moderate to severe COVID, study finds
“…half of the 240 patients were randomly assigned a single dose of 200,000 international units (IU) of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) in addition to the standard of care, and the other half were assigned a placebo.”

Vitamin D Flops in Moderate-Severe COVID
    — Randomized trial in Brazil disappoints
“…Overall, 240 patients were randomized: 120 to a single oral dose of 200,000 IU of vitamin D and 120 to placebo.” “…Researchers noted no adverse events, except a single episode of vomiting linked to the intervention. ”

Does vitamin D help protect against COVID-19? This link is not available to European visitors. Let’s scrutinize the 1st two links:

So to summarize: the 1st two links refer to the same useless study of administering a SINGLE dose of 200,000 IUs of vitamin D and “surprisingly” finding that it did not make a difference in Covid patients. Let us see what the guidelines are for Vitamin D. What is an excessive dose of Vit D and what are the consequences?

“The main consequence of vitamin D toxicity is a buildup of calcium in your blood (hypercalcemia), which can cause nausea and vomiting, weakness, and frequent urination. Vitamin D toxicity might progress to bone pain and kidney problems, such as the formation of calcium stones.”

Apparently, a high single dose of Vit D is not the right way of supplementation. What is more, such a high dose (200,000 IU is 50 times more than the recommended beneficial, safe dose of 4000 IU) could be even toxic and does’t lead to a gradual build-up of Vit D, especially that that also requires K2 supplementation to absorb Vit D, which is not even mentioned in either of the articles. As you may have noticed, both articles cite the same JAMA-published study, another medical journal in high regard (similar to Lancet in this respect).

Here is another study from your favourite medical journal: “The effect of vitamin D supplementation on acute respiratory tract infection in older Australian adults: an analysis of data from the D-Health Trial”
What did they do: “Monthly bolus doses of 60 000 IU of vitamin D did not reduce the overall risk of acute respiratory tract infection, but could slightly reduce the duration of symptoms in the general population. These findings suggest that routine vitamin D supplementation of a population that is largely vitamin D replete is unlikely to have a clinically relevant effect on acute respiratory tract infection.”

So again they gave single monthly doses of injected Vit D!

Finally, here is a study that investigates if low Vit D status is significantly associated with higher prevalence of Covid-19 infection: “Vitamin D concentrations and COVID-19 infection in UK Biobank”
They do find a significant association as a ‘univariable’ between Vit D and Covid (look at Table 2), with a p-value of 0.011. However, when they adjust the values for confounding factors such as “for ethnicity, sex, month of assessment, Townsend deprivation quintile, household income, self-reported health rating, smoking status, BMI category, age at assessment, diabetes, SBP, DBP, and long-standing illness, disability or infirmity”, they find no significant association.

What they do, basically, is normalize the values between these binary groups so as to account for the group-wise differences. Say, only 10% of White but 15% of Black people have the disease (these values are purely fictional now). How to account for the group-wise differences? Normalize the Black-derived values by adding up 50% more of the numbers so as to make them comparable to the White-derived values. Now, you think, you can see if there is a (significant) difference between the Covid-negative and Covid-positive people’s vitamin D blood levels. Surprise, surprise: they find no (significant) difference between Covid-positive and Covid-negative people for vit D blood levels! (Similar logic for the other “confounding” factors.) However a person with about an IQ of 90 or more can easily notice the authors did throw out the baby with the bathwater. We do know that there is a significant difference between Whites and POC for Covid occurrence and also that POC, due to their dark skin, have a worse absorption of sunshine and consequently production of Vit D. Therefore, if you eliminate all the ‘confounding’ factors, not surprisingly, you find no significant difference between the two groups.

Now, you’d ask (rightly so), why the authors designed their studies in such a crude way, apparently with inconclusive results?

And speaking of ‘more benevolent’ journals, I do think there is a difference whether they pander to Big Pharma or not. Lancet and JAMA apparently do. Also, just because authors are expected to pay for their publication to go open-access, doesn’t mean they are not respectable. While it may be less prevalent or non-existent in the medical field, in science it is quite an accepted practice. The authors pay for their article to go open-access, i.e. readable by everyone. There are quite a few such high-impact journals. Give it a thought, Sherlock.

Dear Dr Watson, you sound like a Doctor of Education or Divinity. First off, my point in the msg to you was not about the existing studies and “studies” you quoted (and quoted through their lay journalistic distortion.) I have no truck with these pubs or prepubs. I was addressing the almost-impossible study design that you proposed, viz to forgo a placebo control group but instead compare different doses or dose-intensities and infer effect from an observed difference in it, when

    a. there is no already established knowledge of dose-dependence, or the type of dose-dependence, in this indication

    b. there can be no “a” because the presence or absence of any effect is precisely the question you are investigating in the first place, a perfect begging of the question!

    c. in the absence of both a and b you can’t even design the study, as you won’t know the size of the difference to expect and to power for.
All this has fckall to do with the newspaper snippets in your post.

As for publications, “pay-to-play” was not referring to the publication costs one naturally has to contribute to, but to how easily due process can be bypassed. Of course the major journals are influenced by the industry in thousand different ways but they are ostensibly trying to ward it off by an ever-growing forest of rules and regulations and review processes and conflict-of-interest investigations and what will you. In the last 40 years, I’ve seen my requirements as either author or reviewer increase a hundredfold. Even then, unfortunately commercial interests often distort the end product in many subtle ways.

In “more benevolent” publications, this invasion is unsubtle, even coarse. Essentially by insufficient enforcement of the rules. So the drug industry and/or the supplements industry would more easily publish what they want. The only way “more benevolence” works is benevolence toward unscientific work.

Note that the supplement industry would be the colossal beneficiary of a general Vitamin D recommendation! Very often the supplements industry foments and sponsors scientifically worthless vitamin crazes (and letters to the editor by the million.) Try not to be a victim, Doctor.

I am a dr of neither, though a dr indeed. I was trying to explain the confounding factors to the laypeople here, hence is my detailed explanation. I did not accuse you of being associated with either of the stupid studies I quoted (again I approached them with a general readership in mind) just wanted to highlight their bias and stupidity even though published in high-minded journals you seem to have in high regards.

True, I shifted my original focus about the placebo-whatever topic as I am certainly no expert in that field.

As for publications, “pay-to-play” was not referring to the publication costs one naturally has to contribute to, but to how easily due process can be bypassed.

How easily? If you mean the distorting effect of the industry, well, I am not affected by it. At least you seem to implicitly agree that industry might be behind some of these egregious ‘studies’ – or what would be your explanation for them?

I’d much rather err on the vitamin side than in the other direction. Plus, Big Pharma should be able to produce any of these vitamins but apparently they are too greedy to make do with them.

This article avoids a point of great importance. With respect to Vitamin D very few need wait for medical science to approve. The vitamin can be bought at the local drugstore cheaply. Anyone who wants to take it as a precautionary action can do so. If you become convinced there is sufficient reason to take Vitamin D do so.

There is altogether too much whining here about what authorities say. Especially authorities which demonstrate strong indications of having been suborned by special interests or intimidated by politicians and their agents. Go elsewhere.

Choosing whom to listen to is a necessity and responsibility of life. Accept it. Governments are not likely to have your interests at heart when you have no power to hurt them. Accept that unpleasant fact too. The more you act like sheep waiting to be told what to do the greater the incentive to cheat you. This article reeks of sheep-like thinking; angry because the sheep has not been told properly what to do.

In truth societies that consistently make bad choices need to be ended as swiftly as possible so that new arrangements can be made. Social collapse may be bad for individuals, even fatal, in the short run but ending incompetence, especially when vicious manipulation is present, is better in the longer run.

Keep in mind that this is not entirely related to Vitamin D summer vs winter supplies. Viruses like Covid19 are covered with a protective layer of fat which is easily destroyed in summer months and strengthen during the winter months. The effect of this phenomena is misleadingly attributed to Vitamin D correlation and should be isolated by a dummy variable in the analysis.

    Ok, here’s how it works:

Since WW the 1960s revolution the US has been dominated by asset strippers of one sort or another. They work much like termites, hollowing out productive firms without leaving an externally visible sign, saying “rationalization” when they mean hollowing out.

Boeing is a good example of this — they kept aircraft production, but fired their R&D people. That’s why they blew recent design projects. They have apparently been “rationalizing” their production/maintenance operations also.

In medicine, the hollowing out relies on deadwood. The people retained are those who support existing practice as determined by managers (Fauci being a good example). Such people are hired to take no chances, do nothing original, say nothing that the managers don’t approve.

Hollowing out is close to completion, as can be seen by the national debt of the Western alliance’s industrial counties (Germany being the prime exception).

Conjecture: the vaccines are yet more asset stripping. Their objectives is to keep the managers of pharmaceuticals competitive with managers in other industries, and that is the primary objective. A typical justification would be that more lives of those who work in pharmaceuticals depend on the infusion of cash from sale of vaccines than would depend on the efficacy of the vaccines. That justification might even be accepted, except that the money could save even more lives if spent on something that would actually yield a benefit to the general population (e.g. more robust electrical grids). For those who follow logical fallacies, it’s an example of the “broken window” fallacy ( ).

Asset stripping has been the primary activity of Western economies since about 1970, and is almost universal now.

you should watch your calcium (too high?) and magnesium (too low is common) levels.

I eat way too much dairy (calcium) and have always had low magnesium levels, almost shorting out in the 1980s. Kind of family table top “genetics”. Now cut back on some dairy and take a big magnesium supplement to maintain somewhat acceptable magnesium levels if I don’t screw up. Always had respiratory illness problems, doing better with 400 mg magnesium, 5-10 k D3 (blood 35 ng/mL!), 15 -45 mg K2 (MK4), and grams of vitamin C, TID.

I’m not sure what D3 supplements are available over the counter in UK and Europe currently, after the Codex wiped out much of the available supplements back then. 400 – 1000 – 2000 – 5000 iu?

A year ago Dr John, shown here and dedicated to EBM-SoC in the UK, thought 400 iu was a responsible “std of care” dose. He bitterly disappointed to find out how marginal his blood levels were, in the mortality/morbidity zone under 30 ng/mL, even after taking 2000 iu per day for several months.

(Welcome to the bottom rung in the real world of vitamin D3 adequacy, Dr John)

The lack of advice about diet, vitamins and so on gives the game away.

The false advice about masks, distancing and so on is quite blatant.

I guess that makes me a conspiracy realist.

The studies you cite used vitamin D3 as a treatment for patients who already contracted SARS-CoV-2.

It takes 2-3 weeks for adequate Vitamin D3 to be converted into the body to the active pre-hormone 25OHD3 in the blood. Patients who have contracted this virus should have been treated with the 25OHD3 form otherwise there is little effect. Besides, patients on a high fructose diet produce mostly the inactive 24OHD3 form!

The doctors in the studies you cited pulled the same trick as the Lancet doctors who treated with HCQ after the dis-ease had progressed past the infective stage when HCQ is primarily a zinc ionophore to increase the inhibition of the virus replication.

I concur with the previous comment that you must have a doctorate in PE or something similar.

Yuck. Cow’s milk is for calves.

  194. glib says:

Yes, that is what it means. The fructose interferes with the vitamin D cycle. There was a paper discussing this within the paradox that humans should not be able to live in Arctic regions, because between low sun and year round body cover they can not produce sufficient vitamin D. But because those same humans eat a zero carb (carnivore) diet, they are very efficient at making the active form and recycling vitamin D within the liver also. They have indeed better bone structure than people living in warmer latitudes. (It is really impossible to die of covid if you eat either a ketogenic diet or a carnivore diet).

  195. Johan says:

Like Rousseau wrote, reasoning man, worse than an animal.
When the Light and Life of Spring arrives, Nature might aid in causing a revolution, natural inclinations, as far as decadent Western modern man is still subject to them, able to feel them somewhere deep down, might aid in stirring greater resistance against the contemporary Priests of the Science of Death and the incompetent and clueless politicians and institutions. Especially among youth, as they are not yet imprisoned and established in the consumerist work-slave machine of Western societies, not yet cogs in the wheel, not yet depraved by reason.

  196. Johan says:

The gist of the article concerns the benevolent Gifts of Nature, and how these are looked upon with the haughty attitude of Depraved Learned Men, the specialist, the Learned Ignoramus.
A greater connection can be made though. The alleged Human caused Climate Change is another grand strategy to rob the people of the benevolent gifts of nature. By depiction of Humans as Wasteful Sinners, destroying Nature, it follows that Nature must by protected against Humans by the contemporary priest classes. Nature is the last resort of depraved Modern Man, a type of man which is un-artful without historical precedence, a man without Art, to steal Nature from him, as far as he still is a child of nature leaves him being nothing but a small insignificant reasoning animal, and a dependent orphan, it leaves him powerless and ever more depraved, ever more in the hands of the Priests of Science, The Fathers of Austerity, abandoning the benevolent abundance of Nature.
