A year ago, the idea that Covid-19 leaked from a lab in Wuhan – a short distance from the wet market that is usually claimed to be the source of the virus – was dismissed as a crackpot theory, supported only by Donald Trump, QAnon and hawks on the right looking to escalate tensions dangerously with China.

Now, after what has been effectively a year-long blackout of the lab-leak theory by the corporate media and the scientific establishment, President Joe Biden has announced an investigation to assess its credibility. And as a consequence, what was treated until a few weeks ago as an unhinged, rightwing conspiracy is suddenly being widely aired and seriously considered by liberals.

Every media outlet is running prominent stories wondering whether a pandemic that has killed so many people and destroyed the lives of so many more can be blamed on human hubris and meddling rather than on a natural cause.

For many years, scientists at labs like Wuhan’s have conducted Frankenstein-type experiments on viruses. They have modified naturally occurring infective agents – often found in animals such as bats – to try to predict the worst-case scenarios for how viruses, especially coronaviruses, might evolve. The claimed purpose has been to ensure humankind gets a head start on any new pandemic, preparing strategies and vaccines in advance to cope.

Viruses are known to have escaped from labs like Wuhan’s many times before. And there are now reports, rejected by China , that several staff at Wuhan got sick in late 2019, shortly before Covid-19 exploded on to the world stage. Did a human-manipulated novel coronavirus escape from the lab and spread around the world?

No interest in truth

Here we get to the tricky bit. Because nobody in a position to answer that question appears to have any interest in finding out the truth – or at least, they have no interest in the rest of us learning the truth. Not China. Not US policy-makers. Not the World Health Organisation. And not the corporate media.

The only thing we can state with certainty is this: our understanding of the origins of Covid has been narratively managed over the past 15 months and is still being narratively managed. We are being told only what suits powerful political, scientific and commercial interests.

We now know that we were misdirected a year ago into believing that a lab leak was either fanciful nonsense or evidence of Sinophobia – when it was very obviously neither. And we should understand now, even though the story has switched 180 degrees, that we are still being misdirected. Nothing that the US administration or the corporate media have told us, or are now telling us, about the origins of the virus can be trusted.

No one in power truly wants to get to the bottom of this story. In fact, quite the reverse. Were we to truly understand its implications, this story might have the potential not only to hugely discredit western political, media and scientific elites but even to challenge the whole ideological basis on which their power rests.

Which is why what we are seeing is not an effort to grapple with the truth of the past year, but a desperate bid by those same elites to continue controlling our understanding of it. Western publics are being subjected to a continuous psy-op by their own officials.

Virus experiments

Last year, the safest story for the western political and scientific establishments to promote was the idea that a wild animal like a bat introduced Covid-19 to the human population. In other words, no one was to blame. The alternative was to hold China responsible for a lab leak, as Trump tried to do.

But there was a very good reason why most US policy-makers did not want to go down that latter path. And it had little to do with a concern either to refrain from conspiracy theories or to avoid provoking unnecessary tension with a nuclear-armed China.

Nicholas Wade, a former New York Times science writer, set out in May, in an in-depth investigation, why the case for a lab leak was scientifically strong, citing some of the world’s leading virologists.

But Wade also highlighted a much deeper problem for US elites: just before the first outbreak of Covid, the Wuhan lab was, it seems, cooperating with the US scientific establishment and WHO officials on its virus experiments – what is known, in scientific parlance, as “gain-of-function” research.

Gain-of-function experiments had been paused during the second Obama administration, precisely because of concerns about the danger of a human-engineered virus mutation escaping and creating a pandemic. But under Trump, US officials restarted the programme and were reportedly funding work at the Wuhan lab through a US-based medical organisation called the EcoHealth Alliance.

The US official who pushed this agenda hardest is reported to have been Dr Anthony Fauci – yes, the US President’s chief medical adviser and the official widely credited with curbing Trump’s reckless approach to the pandemic. If the lab leak theory is right, the pandemic’s saviour in the US might actually have been one of its chief instigators.

And to top it off, senior officials at the WHO have been implicated too, for being closely involved with gain-of-function research through groups like EcoHealth.

Colluding in deceit

This seems to be the real reason why the lab-leak theory was quashed so aggressively last year by western political, medical and media establishments without any effort to seriously assess the claims or investigate them. Not out of any sense of obligation towards the truth or concern about racist incitement against the Chinese. It was done out of naked self-interest.

ORDER IT NOW

If anyone doubts that, consider this: the WHO appointed Peter Daszak, the president of the EcoHealth Alliance, the very group that reportedly funded gain-of-function research at Wuhan on behalf of the US, to investigate the lab-leak theory and effectively become the WHO’s spokesman on the matter. To say that Daszak had a conflict of interest is to massively understate the problem.

He, of course, has loudly discounted any possibility of a leak and, perhaps not surprisingly, continues to direct the media’s attention to Wuhan’s wet market.

The extent to which major media are not only negligently failing to cover the story with any seriousness but are also actively continuing to collude in deceiving their audiences – and sweeping these egregious conflicts of interest under the carpet – is illustrated by this article published by the BBC at the weekend.

The BBC ostensibly weighs the two possible narratives about Covid’s origins. But it mentions none of Wade’s explosive findings, including the potential US role in funding gain-of-function research at Wuhan. Both Fauci and Daszak are cited as trusted and dispassionate commentators rather than as figures who have the most to lose from a serious investigation into what happened at the Wuhan lab.

Given this context, the events of the past 15 months look much more like a pre-emptive cover-up: a desire to stop the truth from ever emerging because, if a lab leak did occur, it would threaten the credibility of the very structures of authority on which the power of western elites rests.

Media blackout

So why, after the strenuously enforced blackout of the past year, are Biden, the corporate media and the scientific establishment suddenly going public with the possibility of a China lab leak?

The answer to that seems clear: because Nicholas Wade’s article, in particular, blew open the doors that had been kept tightly shut on the lab-leak hypothesis. Scientists who had formerly feared being associated with Trump or a “conspiracy theory” have belatedly spoken up. The cat is out of the bag.

Or as the Financial Times reported of the new official narrative, “the driving factor was a shift among scientists who had been wary of helping Trump before the election or angering influential scientists who had dismissed the theory”.

The journal Science recently upped the stakes by publishing a letter from 18 prominent scientists stating that the lab-leak and animal-origin theories were equally “viable” and that the WHO’s earlier investigation had not given “balanced consideration” to both – a polite way of suggesting that the WHO investigation was a fix.

And so we are now being subjected by the Biden administration to Plan B: damage limitation. The US President, the medical establishment and the corporate media are raising the possibility of a Wuhan lab leak, but are excluding all the evidence unearthed by Wade and others that would implicate Fauci and the US policy elite in such a leak, if it occurred. (Meanwhile, Fauci and his supporters have been preemptively muddying the waters by trying to redefine what constitutes gain-of-function.)

The growing clamour on social media, much of it provoked by Wade’s research, is one of the main reasons Biden and the media are being forced to address the lab-leak theory, having previously discounted it. And yet Wade’s revelations of US and WHO involvement in gain-of-function research, and of potential complicity in a lab leak and a subsequent cover-up are missing from almost all corporate media reporting.

Evasion tactic

Biden’s so-called investigation is intended to be cynically evasive. It makes the administration look serious about getting to the truth when it is nothing of the sort. It eases pressure on the corporate media that might otherwise be expected to dig out the truth themselves. The narrow focus on the lab leak theory displaces the wider story of potential US and WHO complicity in such a leak and overshadows efforts by outside critics to highlight that very point. And the inevitable delay while the investigation is carried out readily exploits Covid news fatigue as western publics start to emerge from under the pandemic’s shadow.

The Biden administration will hope the public’s interest rapidly wanes on this story so that the corporate media can let it drop off their radar. In any case, the investigation’s findings will most likely be inconclusive, to avoid a war of duelling narratives with China.

But even if the investigation is forced to point the finger at the Chinese, the Biden administration knows that the western corporate media will loyally report its accusations against China as fact – just as they loyally blacked out any consideration of a lab leak until they were forced to do so over the past few days.

Illusion of truth

The Wuhan story provides a chance to understand more deeply how elites wield their narrative power over us – to control what we think, or are even capable of thinking. They can twist any narrative to their advantage.

In the calculations of western elites, the truth is largely irrelevant. What is of utmost importance is maintaining the illusion of truth. It is vital to keep us believing that our leaders rule in our best interests; that the western system – despite all its flaws – is the best possible one for arranging our political and economic lives; and that we are on a steady, if sometimes rocky, path towards progress.

The job of sustaining the illusion of truth falls to the corporate media. It will be their role now to expose us to a potentially lengthy, certainly lively – but carefully ring-fenced and ultimately inconclusive – debate about whether Covid emerged naturally or leaked from the Wuhan lab.

The media’s task is to manage smoothly the transition from last year’s unquestionable certainty – that the pandemic had an animal origin – to a more hesitant, confusing picture that includes the possibility of a human, but very much Chinese, role in the virus’ emergence. It is to ensure we do not feel any cognitive dissonance as a theory we were assured was impossible by the experts only weeks ago suddenly becomes only too possible, even though nothing has materially changed in the meantime.

What is essential for the political, media and scientific establishments is that we do not ponder deeper questions:

  • How is it that the supposedly sceptical, disputatious, raucous media once again spoke mostly with a single and uncritical voice on such a vitally important matter – in this case, for more than a year on the origins of Covid?
  • Why was that media consensus broken not by a large, well-resourced media organisation, but by a lone, former science writer working independently and publishing in a relatively obscure science magazine?
  • Why did the many leading scientists who are now ready to question the imposed narrative of Covid’s animal origin remain silent for so long about the apparently equally credible hypothesis of a lab leak?
  • And most importantly, why should we believe that the political, media and scientific establishments have on this occasion any interest in telling us the truth, or in ensuring our welfare, after they have been shown to have repeatedly lied or stayed silent on even graver matters and over much longer periods, such as about the various ecological catastrophes that have been looming since the 1950s?

Class interests

Those questions, let alone the answers, will be avoided by anyone who needs to believe that our rulers are competent and moral and that they pursue the public good rather than their own individual, narrow, selfish interests – or those of their class or professional group.

ORDER IT NOW

Scientists defer slavishly to the scientific establishment because that same establishment oversees a system in which scientists are rewarded with research funding, employment opportunities and promotions. And because scientists have little incentive to question or expose their own professional community’s failings, or increase public scepticism towards science and scientists.

Similarly, journalists work for a handful of billionaire-owned media corporations that want to maintain the public’s faith in the “benevolence” of the power structures that reward billionaires for their supposed genius and ability to improve the lives of the rest of us. The corporate media has no interest in encouraging the public to question whether it can really operate as a neutral conduit that channels information to ordinary people rather than preserves a status quo that benefits a tiny wealth-elite.

And politicians have every reason to continue to persuade us that they represent our interests rather than the billionaire donors whose corporations and media outlets can so easily destroy their careers.

What we are dealing with here is a set of professional classes doing everything in their power to preserve their own interests and the interests of the system that rewards them. And that requires strenuous efforts on their part to make sure we do not understand that policy is driven chiefly by greed and a craving for status, not by the common good or by a concern for truth and transparency.

Which is why no meaningful lessons will be learnt about what really happened in Wuhan. Maintaining the illusion of truth will continue to take precedence over uncovering the truth. And for that reason we are doomed to keep making the same screw-ups. As the next pandemic will doubtless attest.

  1. Wow, two great articles questioning the Covid hoax published by TUR on the same date, the other one being from the doggedly determined Mike Whitney. It doesn’t get any better than this for us seekers of the truth. That’s why TUR is far and way my favorite site. A special thanks goes to Mr. Unz for bravely publishing alternative viewpoints which the MSM refuses to touch.

  2. It’s urgent, urgent, urgent that there be many more widespread outbreaks of Covid-19 as in Melbourne a week ago. In another couple of weeks it will be too late. By then, or much too soon, everyone everywhere will know that ten cents worth of generic Ivermectin immediately cures Covid-19. Suddenly, Big Pharma’s vaccines will be worth nothing.

    So spread it! Quick!!!

  3. Does anyone remember the woman who put out a video last year disputing the covid narrative, who was treated rather harshly by authorities before her video was banned?

A remarkably intelligent and rational post. Triple kudos.

It should be obvious that alternative internet news outlets, while better than nothing, are not a panacea. They simply don’t have the resources to pursue and validate independent research of a topic, they can only take what is offered by the corporate press and try to ‘read between the lines’ – which is kind of like impossible if the raw information from the corporate press is scripted, contradictory, etc. And of course, alternative news outlets are so scattered and diverse that they tend to cancel each other out. If Martin Luther had nailed his “95 theses” to a cathedral door that was already covered with leaflets promoting free love and bimetallism and freemasonry and a hollow earth theory and martians are invading etc.etc., well, it would have had zero impact…

To my libertarian friends: the idea that tearing up government regulations will lead to utopia is silly. Letting the rich buy up and control all the major news outlets – let there being a ‘free market’ in news – will (has) ultimately devolve into a top-down Stalinist kind of structure. If I had a magic wand and one wish, I would have the news media broken up, re-regulated, forced to be divested from other companies and owners with other agendas etc. Would that solve all of our problems? Of course not. But it might be a start.

agree. remember the ban on gain of function reach was rescinded in december 2017 by hhs while the agency had no secretary in charge. fauci used this leaderless period to bring back his pet project off the radar and through the back door. fauci tweeted in 2017 that the trump administration would face a pandemic in the coming years. fort detrick was shut down in 2019 for 8 months for “serious safety violations”. the wuhan games gave them the perfect opportunity to deflect the blame to china. fauci knew exactly what the wuhan lab was working on because he paid them 3 million dollars to continue the gain of function research that had been prohibited here due to its dangerous nature.

“Escaped.” Tepid passive voice. This reminds me of Ted Kennedy‘s statement the morning after: “The car drove off the side of the bridge.”

The Wuhan lab was conducting the most dangerous project in the history of the world. The US knew that the Chinese have a cavalier attitude toward safety precautions. Quietly, tactfully (not Blinken-style), behind the scenes, the US should have said, “We are co-funding this, so we want to be your partners in establishing extraordinary safety precautions; we will learn much from you; in fact, we are happy to pay for these joint precautions.” The US did not do this, which is why the careless-people escape theory had to be buried. People did this. Systems-errors did this.

  7. The real story isn’t where or how the virus came about: The real story was how it was seized upon to destroy the civil liberties and human rights of billions around the world, and then used to coerce them to accept medical research with unproven, even dangerous experimental genetic therapeutics that may ultimately shave years or decades off their lives.

Extremely well said, and these paragraphs, if nothing else, need to be inculcated into the awareness of the general public. Protip – In cartel media, nothing goes into circulation unless it serves the narrative that controlling interests are attempting to established.

As early as March 2019, it was clear to anyone who chose to leave the paved propaganda highway of the cartel media and seek out fact, that the popular narrative was false – anyone who has any passing familiarity with population genetics readily comprehends the concept of TMRCA as relates to lines of descent. The concept can easily be applied to Viral mutation as well.. and it was –

“Evolutionary origins of the SARS‐CoV‐2 sarbecovirus lineage responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic”

Given that the conservative estimate of the TMRCA between Wuhan-1 and the publicized genetically similar Bat virus, studied at Wuhan, place the natural divergence in the late 1960’s, it was well established that this did not suddenly mutate at high-speed naturally. It had to have been manufactured in a lab – if derived from the Wuhan strain of Bat virus – or it came from some other lineage more genetically similar to the progenitor strain released in China.

It is also of note, never discussed in any cartel media, that the Wuhan-1 strain obtained from the earliest known infected in China, is not the basal / original strain of what becomes global Covid via its descendant Wuhan-1.

The attribution of Wuhan-1 arising inside of China is quite likely true, however the attribution of progenitor Covid is not needed to originate inside of China, that is only an inference that has not been established.

“This progenitor viral genome has three bases that differ from the Wuhan strains. The researchers think that both the Wuhan and other of the earliest genomes to be sampled were actually variants of the progenitor coronavirus (CoV), which diverged into ν and α lineages.”

Oftentimes, the most valuable and significant information is that which is notable for being deliberately suppressed, not that which is touted and publicized.

Right now, the cartel media and the political parties that they serve are marketing and ‘spamming’ a version of events that was clearly established at the outset, and now, to be false, misleading and deceptive. The entire purpose of the well-financed effort is to confuse and mislead, not to serve a public interest.

What we should be looking for is not the ‘squirrel’ that cartel interests are pointing at, but in the directions they are standing in the way to block the view of. The cutoff of interest was strategically set at Dec 2019, and we need to be looking for samples predating this, particularly in wastewater samples taken prior to that date, and in particular in the mid-atlantic region that went unsampled by the CDC peculiarly, even though it was clearly affected early on.

Watch for where the cartel interests seek to limit inquiry, and go there..

Their ‘vaccines’ haven’t been tested for efficacy or side effects and gov’t has caved in to their demands creating a totalitarian police state where our natural rights are trampled because some asshole (Fauci) proclaims loudly that he knows what’s best.

Bill Gates is using this opportunity to make a fortune exceeding the one he already has. Politicians are issuing fatwas backed up by the threat of violence from street cops to force the world’s population into some unnatural state of blind submission to dictates by the largest group of frauds in the society – the political class.

The folks that have gotten the jab are the weak of mind that support the sociopaths in gov’t. They believe in ‘authority’ and follow orders without question. They haven’t the brain power to think for themselves and show up to vote for the next Hitler light like governor Twat in Michigan.

Unless some person in the know comes out as a whistle blower, all the who did Covid is a waste of time, a distraction to keep people from realizing that their future is in serious jeopardy. People should be focusing on how their life savings are going to evaporate soon with the ‘reset’ from the finance frauds.

2015 gain of function paper [i.e. during the ban], Shi and Baric [UNC, trained Shi on some of this stuff, close with Daszak] co-authors:

    https://www.nature.com/articles/nm.3985

They made a chimeric coronavirus by combining the SARS backbone with the spike protein from a recently-discovered bat coronavirus, and tested it to see if they could get it to infect human respiratory epithelial cells and mice — they “succeeded.”

Funding from EcoHealth [apparently USAID money, not NIH]:

In the version of this article initially published online, the authors omitted to acknowledge a funding source, USAID-EPT-PREDICT funding from EcoHealth Alliance, to Z.-L.S.

And where did they get the cell line that they used for culturing the chimeric virus?

…chimeric SARS-like CoVs were cultured on Vero E6 cells (obtained from United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases

Huh. And EcoHealth gets NIH money and USAID money — but they also get a lot of money from DoD.

Anyway, it’s interesting that the major narratives all along have all been China or US [whether natural origin/ wet market, lab leak, or bioweapon], when if you look at all closely at this gain-of-function research, you see a whole lot of China and US.

  12. And there are now reports, rejected by China , that several staff at Wuhan got sick in late 2019, shortly before Covid-19 exploded on to the world stage.

Not super useful without more data. Conversely, I remember seeing an interview with Dr. Shi where she claimed that one of the early steps that they took in the Chinese investigation was to test all of the WIV staff for antibodies to SARS2, and that they were all negative. Big if true, but how to confirm?

Testing stored blood from around the Wuhan area from late 2019 might be useful in retracing the pattern of early spread as well, if done by reasonably neutral parties [not China or Daszak types], but I doubt that’s ever going to happen. At least not for public release — the Chinese may well have done it already.

One thing that stands out about the various narratives with respect to COVID origins are that they always seem to start with the narrative, then collect — or generate — “facts” to support it. Another is that they appear to be very focused on assigning blame. It’s pretty unlikely that we’re ever going to see an NTSB-style investigation: i.e. “collect the facts, generate and evaluate hypotheses, then focus on lessons learned and how to avoid this in the future” .

If it was a deliberately-constructed bioweapon — whether it leaked or was purposefully deployed — then it’s even less likely to be publicly investigated in any meaningful fashion, or to result in any public change in policy.

If it was a naturally-occurring virus, then the steps to take depend on the exact route that it took to jump to humans. Of course, naturally-occurring and lab leak are not mutually exclusive — one possible route is collect virus >> bring back to lab >> virus escapes without ever being modified.

If it was a lab leak of a virus that was created or modified [whether via genetic engineering, serial passage, or some combination], then the implications are obvious — take a long hard look at the usefulness of widespread gain of function research in these viruses.

But even without the issue of gain of function research, there is a certain risk associated with the whole “let’s scour the jungles for any potentially-pathogenic virus we can find — then bring them back to a major urban area and store/ culture them there.” Perhaps it would be worth assessing the risks and benefits of this kind of project in at least a semi-quantitative fashion?

At any rate, the author is correct [of course] to point out that it’s idiotic to have people who are directly involved in performing [and funding] gain of function research in charge of this “investigation” — when one of the leading suspects is exactly that type of research.

It is also of note, never discussed in any cartel media, that the Wuhan-1 strain obtained from the earliest known infected in China, is not the basal / original strain of what becomes global Covid via its descendant Wuhan-1.

Phylogenetic analyses have shown that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain is NOT ancestral to the Italian ‘G’ strain which has the D614G mutation in its spike S protein, causing the latter to become more infectious over time. The Wuhan ‘L’ strain does NOT have the D614G mutation in its spike S protein which explains its low rate of infectiousness thus leading to a lower number of Covid-19 cases in Wuhan, as compared to Italy.

The attribution of Wuhan-1 arising inside of China is quite likely true, however the attribution of progenitor Covid is not needed to originate inside of China, that is only an inference that has not been established.

The Wuhan ‘L’ strain is attributed to have originated in Wuhan while the Italian ‘G’ strain is attributed to have originated in Italy. Both share a common ancestral strain which has yet to be attributed to its place of origin.

Here’s an article discussing the significance of the D614G mutation in the Italian ‘G’ strain which caused the global Covid-19 pandemic:

    https://graphics.reuters.com/HEALTH-CORONAVIRUS/EVOLUTION/yxmpjqkdzvr/

G strains are now dominant around the world. One specific mutation, D614G, has become the most common variant. It is so named because one amino acid is changed from a D (aspartate) to a G (glycine) at the 614th position on the viral spike proteins, the structure that gives the virus its crown-like appearance.

The rise of the G strains coincided with spikes in outbreaks of the virus around the world, with a clutch of new cases allowing the strains to invade new areas. The dominance of the G strains is illustrated by the data for Australia, Japan and Thailand. During Australia’s second wave of infections, G strains were present in almost all samples, indicating the country had effectively eliminated transmission of the earlier L and S strains through a series of social distancing measures. All of Australia’s second wave clusters were sparked by people who had returned from overseas and breaches in quarantine.

The dominance of the G-strains becomes even more evident when looking at some countries with the most infections.

The United States is leading the overall number of infections and deaths by far. The majority of infections and first, second, and third waves all coincide with the increase in samples showing three G strains.

In India, a similar pattern can be observed as the constant increase in infections from June to September seemed to follow the curve of the G strain samples.

Empirical evidence suggests that travel bans and containment measures adopted against travelers from China during Jan-Feb 2020 helped stop the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus as evidenced by the low number of Covid-19 cases involving the Wuhan ‘L’ strain outside of China. Scientific evidence has now proven that the Italian ‘G’ strain spread rapidly throughout the Western World during the same period precisely due to its D614G mutation which caused the global Covid-19 pandemic.

As both the Wuhan ‘L’ strain and the Italian ‘G’ strain were known to have been discovered in December 2019, the question as to the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus must perforce address the global spread of the ancestral strain prior to December 2019. This enquiry should not be limited to Wuhan but also expanded to Italy and elsewhere.

The answer to that seems clear: because Nicholas Wade’s article, in particular, blew open the doors that had been kept tightly shut on the lab-leak hypothesis

This, as well as the entire “revelation” timeline laid out in this article is incorrect and misleading.

As soon as the WHO report on the origins of Covid19 was issued on the 30th March 2021, stating that a leak from the WIV was “extremely unlikely“, the USA and 13 of its closer geopolitical allies issued an official statement contesting its conclusions, on the 31st March. These allies were the official governments of Australia, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Slovenia and the United Kingdom.

The entire European Union followed suit in synchronicity and called for “further investigation“.

The White House spokesperson Ms Psaki stated that “the analysis performed to date from our experts — their concern is that there is an additional support for one hypothesis” . She was very clearly alluding to the “WIV lab leak” hypothesis.

    https://edition.cnn.com/2021/03/30/politics/us-allies-who-report-response/index.html

  41. No one in power truly wants to get to the bottom of this story. In fact, quite the reverse. Were we to truly understand its implications, this story might have the potential not only to hugely discredit western political, media and scientific elites but even to challenge the whole ideological basis on which their power rests.

Absolutely! From any official government probe of the origin of the mysterious virus we can confidently anticipate yet another rendition of the now-debunked 911 official post-mortem and the equally dodgy JFK assassination tribunal endorsed by the same official power structure. Who at this late date would expect a corporate-controlled government to render a scientific verdict rather than the usual self-serving political whitewash?

Jonathan Cook’s essay perfectly frames that matter for any astute observer. But the key issue buried here is to spot the true purpose of the whole Corona scam. And that’s what Mike Whitney did in his latest article: The focal point of this whole corporate-government escapade is to inject everyone on the planet with untested mRNA vaccines that may wreck their immune systems, making them dependent ever more on “life-saving” pharmaceuticals from their plutocratic masters.

Could there be some “scientific” reason why the stateless elites privately war-gamed a pandemic well in advance of Covid 19’s appearance? Or was this a grand political strategy? Why have the United States and its European vassals somehow remained the prima targets of the virus, while large swaths of the world, including China, Russia and Africa, quickly shook off their version of virus, scrapped the de facto martial-law lockdowns and returned to normal?

For the past 15 months we’ve been deluged by alarming media statistics on dodgy PRC test results, emergency hospitalizations and frightening body-counts blamed on the virus. But there’s been narry a peep from corporate news on the adverse health effects of the experimental vaccines they have outrageously promoted, despite the availability of cheap, proven prophylactics.

I have serious doubts about the veracity of the headline statistics we have been fed. But I do have confidence in one traditional, stubbornly hard to politicize, tally that has been the hallmark of all previous scourges recorded in history, namely how many people died of anything.

Without an outsized body count, there is no pandemic. And exactly that is the case where I live: The mandatory official tally of death certificates for the terrible Corona pandemic year of 2020 (buried on the back pages of the press) revealed that fewer people died of all causes than the average of the preceding nine years. QED!

I suspect that the surprisingly healthy German state of Hesse is no exception. But I don’t expect the corrupt corporate-government media to roll out any serious (and perhaps embarrassing) comparisons for the United States and its other political satrapies. That might spoil the plot.

If media delivered honest information, it would be hard to reenact the medieval Black Death, as media has unisono sought to portray it, without hills of corpses piling up in the streets. (But maybe mass vaccinations might still achieve that goal). The Corona scam has enveloped us in an elaborately orchestrated, politically induced hallucination from alpha to omega.

Time to snap out of it.

Sometimes the devil isn’t in the details. Indeed, in the instant case, as this author alludes, the official exercise in pursuit thereof is not just a deflection but an insult to one’s intelligence to boot.

It really isn’t an overstatement to say that purporting to solve the puzzle that is “the origin of SARS-CoV 2” is worse than useless. After all, it wasn’t a discrete event in time or even location, and it’s still in motion. The JFK Assassination happened close to 60 years ago, met those criteria, yet how have we done on solving its origins?

The salient questions is not what anyone or any entity “knew” or speculated. It’s what they did in their official capacity or whatever hat they purported to wear, like, say, journalist or news outlet.

Now consider the context. After four years of trying and miserably failing to destroy Trump (and MAGA), the anti-Trump alignment, anybody who was anyone, foreign and domestic, grew desperate near the end of 2019 as Trump was on a peace and prosperity track toward reelection in a landslide.

The Impeachment button was suddenly pushed. Along with the Iran/Democrat plot to seize American Embassy hostages in a pitch perfect replay of the crisis that sunk Carter’s reelection. Trump neutralized that gambit by putting Soleimani down. Thus they were off to the races with the Covid PSYOP/Bioweapon and a deployment of Antifa/BLM Brown Shirts, playfully well thought of as our Racial Reckoning.

The Swamp wanted Trump not just gone but destroyed. I understand that, of all those he made feel bad about themselves they got it worst of all. Suffice it to say, that provided a lot of running room to apparatchiks like Fauci.

In 1910, in a conversation between the British prime minister (Balfour) and an American diplomat (Henry White) the real reason for WW1 was laid bare,

Details of that conversation can be found in the book – 1939 The War that had many Fathers – by Gerd Schultz Rhonoff,

The British could not keep up with growing German economic might and so the only way to deal with this from the perspective of the Brits was to initiate a war to crush Germany,

It is that simple today as well,

The idea that the American deep state launched a bio weapon against the Chinese in an effort to cripple their economy will become the new tin foil hat theory, that’s if it ever gets mainstream coverage at all,

We are still at square one in all this and if we are to go by history, the truth won’t get out until over a century later and then only to those who look for it,

Twenty miles is definitely not ‘short distance’ as the Wuhan Institute of Virology is located across a river, some 20 miles from the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market:

This physical fact in addition to the well-documented presence of the US CDC in Wuhan until September 2019 have already disproven the Wuhan Lab Leak theory more than a year ago.

  56. Rich says:

At the present time, we have no proof at all of the origin of covid. Wuhan lab leak, bat soup, Ft Detrick, it’s all conjecture. It’s something we will probably never know the truth about. What we do know is that the gene therapy injection experiment continues, with, if reports are correct, a higher death rate than any previous medication release. While highly credentialed scientists who question the value of the medication and its possible future side effects are ignored and banned. Here, in the heart of the original US outbreak, NYC, I have no personal relationship with anyone who died with the virus, and the deaths of people with covid that I know through acquaintances have been people with serious co-morbidities, like cancer or severe diabetes. One co-worker’s brother was listed as a covid death after dying in a car accident. Everyone I know who was diagnosed with covid had very mild symptoms and recovered quickly. Something isn’t right about the whole thing.

  57. Cook like most pundits prefers to present things that happened under Obama or Trump or Biden administrations as somehow reflecting that President rather than the people who did the deeds, good or bad (obviously State Media, as under the Gestapo or Stasi, determines what is good and bad.)
The Moratorium on Gain-of-Function research FUNDING which happened in 2014 was the result of many virologists and other scientists demanding that such funding stop as it was creating bioweapons. It had nothing to do with who was President at the time; no more than the Warp Speed vaccines being made in unprecedented time had anything to do with Trump, or the distribution and decision to give the vaccines to EVERYONE rather than just the Vulnerable, had anything to do with Biden. Constitutionally Public Health is part of states’ rights, so the Governors determine their public health response (federal is advisory ONLY, except for the military and people on federal properties). This is why Covid-19 death rate is at 2956 per million in NJ, and at only 354 per million in Hawaii.
Even with the Moratorium, there was discretion for Fauci as head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to continue funding projects for “national security” or other over-riding concerns, so when he (and a committee) quietly over-turned the Moratorium in 2017 (as if Trump even had a clue that was happening), there was essentially no effect on this dangerous research. Direct funding of Wuhan was stopped, so the EcoHealth cutout was established to fund the work there.
The people truly responsible for stopping any serious investigations of a lab leak were prominent bat coronavirus virologists, who banded together and adamantly declared “SARS-CoV2 did not come from a lab!” (Immediately every real scientist suspected the virus was man-made, since scientists don’t make such absolute statements.) These loud-mouthed virologists were protecting their grants, their livelihoods and their careers, knowing that if Covid-19 escaped (or was intentionally released as Ron Unz suggests), their futures look bleak. After 18 months there is almost no chance of determining the origins of Covid-19, although the coverups by China are telling.
The very poor handling of this pandemic by Western countries, violating obvious Public Health protocols early and censoring medical information that could have saved a high percentage of lives, is the major problem. With competence, our death rates would be similar to those in SE Asia.
Since NO high-ups in the US Establishment are ever held accountable for their bad actions (until after they lose power– senile Dennis Hastert is a good example), it won’t happen this time either.

Gain of function research was undertaken by Prof Ralph Baric and his team at a lab in the Uni. of North Carolina. This is very well known.

The conventional view, which I had long accepted as sufficient, took “If comrade Stalin only knew!” straight. In other words, either an outcry moments before execution in the vain hope to protect loved ones or as evidence of true delusion to the bitter end.

I’ve come to the conclusion that then and now people become invested in the lie. Consciously or not, they’d rather die than admit they had been so thoroughly played.

How many people who have taken the experimental vaccines can get their minds around having been snookered, let alone admit what many of them have been complicit in doing to children and young people via fear-mongering, mask mandates, lockdowns, and the jab?

No, it’s already evident that, regardless of the suffered adverse effects the current generation has visited upon their children and grandchildren, they’re never climbing out of the tree.

In 2019, a member of Shi’s team, assistant researcher Hu Ben (胡犇), embarked on high-risk GOF research on coronaviruses and chimeras in humanized mice from the lab of American microbiologist Ralph S. Baric of the University of North Carolina. According to a researcher who goes by the pseudonym Billy Bostickson, “This research involved ‘novel’ bat coronaviruses inoculated into immuno-suppressed mice with humanized features, such as hACE2, and possibly humanized lungs, bone marrow, etc…”. […]

In the case of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, none of the animals at the now-infamous Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market actually tested positive for the virus, reported Live Science. Therefore, based on Shi’s own logic, and given that her lab is the only one in Wuhan that was carrying out dangerous GOF experiments on bat coronaviruses, the lack of any wild animals infected with COVID-19 would be an important indicator that the outbreak in the city was the result of a leak from her lab.

Furthermore, the WIV was set up with governmental funding and technical support from the French government, starting as early as 2004, and lasting up to its completion in 2017.

Several Western governments supported the WIV throughout, because its research was deemed indispensable to prevent a re-run of the H5N1 pandemic.

…the Wuhan Institute of Virology is located across a river, some 20 miles from the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market

Yeah people often give the distance to the headquarters in Wuchang District, rather than the lab in Jianxia. More importantly:

    1. Compared to the Mojiang mine in Yunnan province, it’s still pretty close. The Mojiang mine, of course, is where the closest known naturally-occurring relative of SARS-CoV-2 [RaTG13], was discovered in horseshoe bats in 2012 — and brought back to Wuhan for further study.

    2. Your claim that WIV was the only lab in Wuhan working with bat coronaviruses is clearly false.

The Chinese CDC lab at 288 Machang Road in Wuhan — which also works with bat coronaviruses — is <300 meters from the Huanan market.

Conversely, it looks like they’ve discovered some more distant relatives of SARS-CoV-2 in horseshoe bats in Japan and Cambodia, with the Cambodian one sharing 92.6% nucleotide sequence identity with SARS-CoV-2, which would tend to provide some support for the “natural origins” hypothesis. Though the Vietnamese research was funded by USAID’s PREDICT program, which was heavily involved in funding Daszak’s shady “EcoHealth Alliance” front company, and in funneling money to Shi and Baric’s Frankencoronavirus work during the gain of function ban — so they have a definite interest in promoting “natural origins” over “lab leak.”

You are repeating the same falsehood that this author is claiming with the very first sentence on this misinformation piece:

A year ago, the idea that Covid-19 leaked from a lab in Wuhan – a short distance from the wet market that is usually claimed to be the source of the virus – was dismissed as a crackpot theory, supported only by Donald Trump, QAnon and hawks on the right looking to escalate tensions dangerously with China.

Not only that but the US CDC was actually present in Wuhan until September 2019 with the sole purpose of monitoring any ‘accidental’ lab leaks from the WIV. So if there were any lab leaks back then, then the US CDC would have reported them.

  77. The Wuhan Lab Leak Theory is promoted to claim compensation from China for the damages; and when China denies that, to refuse to honour the T Bills China is holding, thus wiping a very substantial portion of US Debts clean, and probably laying the foundation for the WWIII.

RaTG13 came from the freezers of the WIV. Researchers often have old samples stored away and the WIV has the largest collection of coronaviruses in the world. But, Wuhan is considered an unlikely locality for a coronavirus outbreak. But all these inferences turned out to be false.

RaTG13 was an exact genetic match to an already published partial virus sequence called BtCoV/4991. BtCoV/4991 had been obtained by Zheng-li Shi’s group in 2013 from a mine in Yunnan Province, China. Furthermore, RaTG13 and BtCoV/4991 were from the same bat anal swab sample. Thus, RaTG13 did have a publishing history, but under the name BtCoV/4991.

BtCoV/4991 was discovered in 2012 when 6 miners shoveling bat guava became sick and 3 died. That mine outbreak was why the WIV researchers were sampling there. The nature of the 2012 disease outbreak became much clearer with the discovery (by an anonymous Twitter user called @TheSeeker268) of a 2013 Chinese Master’s thesis.

Chinese virologists routinely scour the country for bat-derived coronaviruses. Yet, the WIV and the EcoHealth Alliance have not shared what is apparently in their own freezers and databases. The less openness scientists at the WIV and the EcoHealth Alliance show and the more they appear to dodge the key questions, the more the suspicion will unavoidably grow of their collective culpability for whatever really happened in Wuhan in late 2019.

In China, numerous labs are isolating, culturing, or otherwise studying unpublished coronaviruses. These examples of unpublished viruses may only be the tip of an iceberg. What they and the examples that preceded it highlight, however, is the importance of accessing the WIV’s virus databases that were taken offline at the outset of the pandemic. The need to know which viruses closely related to SARS-CoV-2 were being studied by scientists in Wuhan in 2019 is urgent.

Congress has put many of these questions to Peter Daszak of the EcoHealth Alliance. The EcoHealth Alliance has had funding and active working relationships with coronavirus researchers at the WIV for over a decade. Who might have spilled the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not necessarily more important to know than who funded them and who conceived and instigated the research.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a Lolbertarian to give up on their ideology. Most of them are demoralized and cannot change, even in the face of evidence that speaks to their ideology as being false. My comment history is full of confrontations with Lol’s, showing their demoralized state.

When Trump came into power, there were people that were suggesting alternate pillars to bypass the corrupt deep state. Trump, did not listen, or had too much hubris, who knows for sure?

To my mind, the alternate pillar approach is still the most viable choice. The other choice is war. Segregation is another way of rejecting the system.

Robert David Steele was the loudest voice describing alternate pillar approach, and how to go about installing them. My understanding is that the Trump team did receive the advice, but rejected it because they thought Cynthia McKinney was a communist.

Alternate pillars are new pillars under a foundation, which take-over the load, because the old pillars are rotten.

“Robert David Steele is the conceptualizer of integrated election reform (#UNRIG) and the integration of holistic analytics, true cost economics, and Open Source Everything Engineering (OSEE) such that we can achieve a prosperous world at peace at 10-20% the cost of the failed Western economic model burdened by banks and lawyers.”

Open source is the scouring of the internet, and then seeking out random experts in their home countries. For intelligence gathering, this pillar bypasses the failing signals intelligence system of NSA and is a form of human intelligence (humint). In practical terms, this would have quickly got to the bottom of Russia Gate.

For the Press, a new pillar was suggested, where a Trump Channel would have been stood up, and this channel would disseminate information gathered by open source intelligence.

For press releases, those would have moved to a new venue outside of the Whitehouse, and the spokespersons would have been experts in their fields, rather than the president himself.

PollMo software would be used to cudgel the bought and paid for Congress. This is a form of direct democracy. Full disclosure, I think democracy sucks, but this might have worked. Quick polling would have sampled the publics perceptions. Trump would then use the public’s will to overcome bought and paid for corporate congress critters.

Trump’s intelligence team and advisors wert to use scoreboards, to help him conceptualize the complex.

There were other alternate pillars that could have been built. The press consolidated after 1996 Clinton Telecommunication Act. The Government gives out licenses to broadcasters only if they operate in the public’s interest. Their licenses could be pulled and put up for re-bid if they fail, and they would have demonstrably failed by comparison to truth being emitted by the Trump Channel and Open Source derived information. The consolidated press is now (((owned))) by our oligarchic friends, so they cannot help but lie and do narrative control, and hence it is a foregone conclusion that they would have been caught in the vice.

The Nascar patch act would make Congress Critters wear jackets with patches on them, showing who their donors are. This would illuminate who their real constituents are – the donor class.

I would take it further, and make dual shitizens wear a star of david. LoL

And of course, Trump got nowhere with the money power problem, even though he mouthed platitudes about the problems of the privateering Federal Reserve.

(From Aristotle:) A Tryant (good Tryant) emerges out the Oligarchy. This Tyrant Oligarch agrees to release debts of the debtors in the population if they help him suppress or kill the other Oligarchs. After that he becomes a populist King and has a debt released population.

In this context, the deep state is controlled by finance capital Oligarchs, who are self interested and have money sickness (they cannot get enough). Lolbertarianism has no concepts for dealing with this reality.

DIPLOMATS warned Washington of risky coronavirus experiments in a Wuhan lab two years before the outbreak, but no one listened.

Top health and science officials from the U.S. Embassy originally found out about the lab when they attended a conference in the Chinese capital. Here they saw a presentation on a new study put out by a group of Chinese scientists, including several from Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), in conjunction with the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The Chinese researchers had found a population of bats from caves in Yunnan province that gave them insight into how SARS coronaviruses originated and spread. Scientists had also discovered three new viruses that had a unique characteristic. They contained a “spike protein” that was particularly good at grabbing onto a specific receptor in human lung cells which was what Covid-19 does. Three teams of US experts then went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology where they met scientists, among them Shi Zhengli, who often referred to as the “batwoman” because of her huge experience studying bat coronaviruses. But when they sat down with the scientists they were shocked to find the lab did not have enough properly trained technicians to safely operate it.

“The cable was a warning shot… they were begging people to pay attention to what was going on” US Diplomat

A cable was sent to Washington about a particularly dangerous group of viruses being studied in a lab with genuine safety problems. But the alert appeared to have fallen on deaf years and has come to light after being leaked to the Washington Post — by which time it was years to late.

The Chinese CDC serves the same function as the US CDC which is to ensure public health against infectious diseases. Do they ‘work with’ bat coronaviruses? Depends on what you mean by ‘work with’. If you mean GoF research which was done at the WIV, then the answer is a resounding NO!

No, the CDC is in Atlanta, Georgia. It always has been. You know that, right?

Yes, I know. But the US CDC had its representatives in China withdrawn by the Trump Administration right before the Covid-19 outbreak. So those US CDC representatives would have detected and reported a WIV lab leak if one had taken place before then.

Lastly, the Wuhan Military Games 2019 took place from Oct 18 2019 – Oct 27 2019. If there was a ‘lab leak’ from the WIV, don’t you think the Chinese authorities would have cancelled that international event and imposed a city-wide lockdown right there and then?

“Potential for human emergence”? Huh. That sounds a whole lot like Kic’s claim that “The research at ‘WIH’ [WIV?]was to identify the hundreds of ‘bar’ coronaviruses and their ability to infect humans.” So how exactly did they go about determining that this bat coronavirus showed “potential for human emergence,” aka “ability to infect humans?”

…we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone

So Shi AND Baric deliberately created a chimeric virus by combining this newly-discovered bat coronavirus with the SARS virus. It was the resultant Frankenvirus which “showed potential” to infect humans… because they deliberately gave it that potential.

But no one was concerned about this obviously-risky, ban-evading research at the time, right? I mean, no prominent scientists in the field warned of the dangers of this type of gain of function research conducted by Shi AND Baric — and funded by Daszak’s shady “EcoHealth Alliance” front company — back in 2015, right? But as evidence grows that the equally deadly Covid-19 pandemic may stem from a Wuhan virology lab’s accidental leak followed by a Chinese government coverup, most politicians across the globe have been strangely silent. Unless policy makers understand the novel coronavirus’s origins, the world remains vulnerable to an even deadlier pandemic in the future.

The closest known relative to SARS-CoV-2 is a virus sampled by Chinese researchers from six miners infected while working in a bat-infested cave in southern China in 2012. These miners developed symptoms we now associate with Covid-19. Half of them died […] Suggesting that an outbreak of a deadly bat coronavirus coincidentally occurred near the only level 4 virology institute in all of China—which happened to be studying the closest known relative of that exact virus—strains credulity

So you tried to get away with automatically equating Cook’s mention of “a lab in Wuhan” to the WIV only, got caught in your lie, and are now just trying to obfuscate.

You acknowledge that your claim that the closest Chinese lab studying bat coronaviruses in Wuhan was “20 miles away” was clearly false, and that the China CDC BSL-3 lab is actually less than 300 meters from the market. But then you try to claim that it’s somehow impossible for viruses to escape from the CDC lab… because their stated intentions are good. Wut? And that their kind of bat coronavirus research somehow “doesn’t count,” because reasons. What, coronaviruses are somehow physically incapable of escaping from a lab unless they’re actively undergoing genetic engineering at the time of the escape? You’re just blabbering here.

Then you deliberately repeat the same lie in yet another post — #80. Shameless mendacity. Sad!

Yes, I know. But the US CDC had its representatives in China

So… you get caught in yet another lie — which you openly acknowledge was deliberate, you backtrack, but try to cover for it by making the ludicrously-improbable claim that all CDC employees have some sort of magical powers which enable them to automatically detect all potentially-dangerous viruses within a 10 mile radius. Can you cite any actual evidence to support this strange delusion?

Again, you’re just blabbering aimlessly here.

And of course, you’re not even attempting to engage with the “natural origins” evidence that I cited — because it’s entirely irrelevant to your motivated reasoning/ confirmation bias. Nor are you engaging with the obvious connections between Daszak/ EcoHealth Alliance/ USAID and Baric/ Shi, because…?

Do you know how many countries in the world have their own BSL4 labs? Lots of them. India has three, established in 1998, 2009 and 2012. Italy has two, one in Rome and another one in Milan. South Korea has one in Cheongju while China has two, the first one in Wuhan was a BSL3 lab converted to a BSL4 lab in 2015 and the second one in Harbin established in 2018.

There is nothing sinister about China’s motives for establishing its first BSL4 lab in Wuhan. After all, India has had three BSL4 labs before China even had one BSL4 lab. Any one of those BSL4 labs could suffer from ‘lab leaks’ which would have affected the entire world, regardless of their location. If China had not reported its Covid-19 outbreak in a timely manner, then the Covid-19 pandemic would have gone unnoticed for months until some other country discovers it. That the Covid-19 outbreak was first reported in Wuhan where China’s first BSL4 lab is located is a coincidental not a consequential fact.

When the Wuhan ‘lab leak’ theory came about, the location of the WIV on the opposite side of a river from the Wuhan wet market looked problematic. So the proponents of the Wuhan ‘lab leak’ theory then substituted the Chinese CDC branch located close to the Wuhan wet market as the site of the ‘lab leak’ in order to bolster their case of the Wuhan ‘lab leak’ theory. But this is a clever misstatement of facts which is designed to sow misinformation because the ‘lab’ where the supposed ‘leak’ was supposed to have taken place is the Wuhan Institute of Virology not the Chinese CDC branch.

Jonathan Cook repeats the same misstatement of facts right at the very beginning of this misinformation piece. Now why would anyone do such as thing if they are interested in finding the truth about the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus? Because that’s not their purpose for publishing such kind of misinformation. So obviously, somebody is hiding something. And it ain’t the Commie Chinks.

While Sean’s claim that the WIV is “just down the street” from the Huanan market is a bit of an exaggeration, and one can argue about the exact meaning of a “short distance” in the OP — the distance between the WIV and the market is certainly much shorter than that between the market and the caves in Yunnan where the closest known relative of SARS2 was discovered — you are clearly being deliberately mendacious in claiming that the WIV is the only lab in Wuhan that was actively studying bat coronaviruses.

    That claim is clearly FALSE.

The Chinese CDC lab at 288 Machang Road in Wuhan — which also works with bat coronaviruses — is <300 meters from the Huanan market. "Just down the street," in other words…

The Wuhan ‘L’ strain which was first detected and reported in late December 2019 did NOT cause the global Covid-19 pandemic. That’s because China’s quick reaction to the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan spurred foreign governments worldwide to ban travelers from China, thus containing the spread of the Wuhan ‘L’ strain by Feb. 2020. In contrast, the Italian ‘G’ strain which arose in Northern Italy spread rapidly throughout Europe and North America because Western authorities were slow to adopt measures to contain its spread. Moreover, the Italian ‘G’ strain carried the D614G mutation which made it 10x more infectious than than Wuhan ‘L’ strain.

It was health officials in Taiwan, who saw social media posts in China (now all wiped) that alerted the WHO. Not China which is a member of the WHO.

    https://www.nbr.org/publication/chinas-disinformation-campaign-in-taiwan-about-covid-19/

There are four different kinds of Chinese disinformation related to Covid-19 in Taiwan: (1) Covid-19 is just a flu, (2) Covid-19 is much more serious in Taiwan than the media or government is reporting, (3) the Covid-19 virus came from the United States, and (4) China is helping the world. At the beginning of the outbreak, the disinformation that attracted the most attention was the false comparison of Covid-19 and the flu—the claim that Covid-19 is just like the seasonal flu, and we need not worry. This claim was spread through Weibo, content farms, and the official media in China, and was then distributed by political elites. For example, a Weibo post on January 16 shared a CNN report from January 10 about the “U.S. flu” and implied that the flu might be more deadly than Covid-19. Another early example of this disinformation is a news story from ifeng.com (Phoenix New Media), which is the fourth most popular web portal in China. The story shared a report from Beijing Evening News (an official Chinese newspaper) with the title “U.S. Has the Deadliest Flu Outbreak in Forty Years, 6,600 People Died.”

People are predisposed to believe this rumor since it would mean that no further steps need to be taken if the coronavirus is no worse than the seasonal flu. Articles such as these were widely shared in Taiwan during the initial outbreak in January, and even today some political elites around the world still promote this comparison.

This disinformation by the Chinese Communist Party intersects with its efforts to maintain social stability within China. Originally, the rumor was only in Chinese, and later it appeared in multiple languages. However, leaders around the world were influenced by this rumor and initially downplayed the severity of the virus, which led to the comparison between Covid-19 and influenza quickly spreading.

Virologist Robert Renfield explains the suspicious transmissibility of the Covid-19 virus is inconsistent with a recent natural origin in a jump from bats, but what one would expect from a pathogen subjected to standard virology techniques.

And Dr. Jacking Stone in Zimbabwe (where COVID has all but disappeared) uses up to 0.6 mg/kg on patients with moderate symptoms. But I obviously read the newspapers and also the endless website articles about the alleged lab-leak, and I’m *utterly* astonished to now discover that WIV is located *twenty miles* from the wet market that was supposedly contaminated by a random lab-leak. That’s totally ridiculous and the lab-leak advocates are extremely dishonest for having hidden that fact.

And the entire lab-leak theory is based upon the WIV not some other Chinese bio-lab in Wuhan. WIV is the one involving Dr. Shi and Fauci and Dazsek and Pompeo’s memo about three researchers getting sick in November and *everything.*

That some of the pro-lab-leak people are now desperately trying to completely throw away all the “evidence” they’ve spent the last year accumulating and switch to an entirely different Wuhan lab simply demonstrates that the case was as invisibly thin as I’ve repeatedly suggested in my articles.

The question now is this: where did the Italian ‘G’ strain come from?

The same conclusion was reached by the earliest phylogenetic study, carried out by Cambridge geneticist Pr Peter Forster in March 2020.

He highlighted the surprising fact that the Wuhan outbreak had been caused by a daughter strain B which barely evolved in Asia, while the European epidemic was mostly due to a later, grand-daughter strain C, with almost no trace of the chronologically-preceding Strain B.

He proposed genetic explanations to this conundrum (great suitability of Strain B to Asian population, or founding event (genetic bottleneck)0.

The truth is of course much simpler: the European strain did not naturally evolve from the Asian one, it was separately introduced in Europe under a differentiated genome from the onset, and did not come from Asia.

Chinese-style ‘authoritarianism’ leads to a utilitarian Utopia of increasing living standards, economic advance and scientific, technological, ecological and moral progress, because the leadership is selected meritocratically, not by purchase by rich thugs like Sheldon Adelson, the Kochs and all the sundry other human detritus who rule the West. Moreover, the very, fraudulent, ‘democracy’ of the West only promotes social division and partisan hatred among the serfs, while they remain totally impotent in the face of oligarch power.

    Correct you are –

I should have said – leader of the Conservative Party.

Copied below is the said conversation between Balfour and White –

A Private Chat About Provoking a War

The following text cites a conversation between a prominent British imperial politician and an American diplomat in London, in 1910. It is an interesting example of what key players say when they feel free to speak their mind. This was before Wikileaks, after all …

“As Germany’s industrial and financial power as well as its trade increased, a growing antagonism between Germany and the British Empire arose. Everywhere the ambitious German industry confronted a British competitor avidly observing the growing danger to his monopolistic trade relations, jealously guarded until then. A 1910 conversation between Lord Balfour, leader of the British Conservative Party, and Henry White, then United States Ambassador in London, shows the contrast between the two European industrial powers, and the attitude of the British leadership:

Balfour: We are probably fools not to find a reason for declaring war on Germany before she builds too many ships and takes away our trade.

White: You are a very high-minded man in private life. How can you possibly contemplate anything so politically immoral as provoking a war against a harmless nation which has as good a right to a navy as you have? If you wish to compete with German trade, work harder.

Balfour: That would mean lowering our standard of living. Perhaps it would be simpler for us to have a war.

White: I am shocked that you of all men should enunciate such principles.

Balfour: Is it a question of right or wrong? Maybe it is just a question of keeping our supremacy. ”

(This text is from Georg Franz-Willing, ‘The origins of the Second World War’, Journal of Historical Review, Vol 7, Number 1, Spring 1986, p 97. The Balfour-White conversation was taken from a biography of Henry White)

“The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can throw the rascals out at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years, if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies.” – Carroll Quigley

According to the World Health Organization (WHO):

Data as reported by: 20 January 2020

    SUMMARY
Event highlights from 31 December 2019 to 20 January 2020:

    • On 31 December 2019, the WHO China Country Office was informed of cases of pneumonia
unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. From
    31 December 2019 through 3 January 2020, a total of 44 case-patients with pneumonia of
unknown etiology were reported to WHO by the national authorities in China. During this
reported period, the causal agent was not identified.

    • On 11 and 12 January 2020, WHO received further detailed information from the National
Health Commission China that the outbreak is associated with exposures in one seafood
    market in Wuhan City.

    • The Chinese authorities identified a new type of coronavirus, which was isolated on 7
    January 2020.

    • On 12 January 2020, China shared the genetic sequence of the novel coronavirus for
countries to use in developing specific diagnostic kits.

But when a “mysterious respiratory illness” struck the Greenspring Retirement Community in June and July of 2019, which sickened 63 residents and 19 staff members, putting 23 residents in the hospital (with three fatalities), what did the U.S. “government” do?

Did the U.S. “government” notify the World Health Organization? No.

Did the U.S. government identify the pathogen responsible? No.

The U.S. “government” did nothing but ignore it.

Did they do that so the world could share in the misery after the USA/WHO/? helped create the virus and then played the shocked Pollyannas?

Every year the Sammies – as Stier called them, in honour of his original patron – attracted a few more celebrities and a bit more media attention. And every year, the list of achievements was mind-blowing. A guy in the energy department (Frazer Lockhart) organised the first successful cleanup of a nuclear weapons factory, in Rocky Flats, Colorado, and had brought it in 60 years early and $30bn under budget. A woman at the Federal Trade Commission (Eileen Harrington) had built the Do Not Call Registry, which spared the entire country from trillions of irritating sales pitches. A National Institutes of Health researcher (Steven Rosenberg) had pioneered immunotherapy, which had successfully treated previously incurable cancers. There were hundreds of fantastically important success stories in the US government. They just never got told.

Stier knew an astonishing number of them. He had detected a pattern: a surprising number of the people responsible for them were first-generation Americans who had come from places without well-functioning governments.

They shorted Trump, but it was an inside trade. He had no idea of the depths of their evil.

The Chinese CDC lab at 288 Machang Road in Wuhan is hardly unlikely to have often had people in the building who had been on a visit to, or been visiting from, the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Indeed, one would expect that this would be the case normally as it was the job of the CDC to monitor the Institute. The effective propinquity is really quite striking. Once one factors in that the CDC lab is a stone’s throw from the wet market, it is quite telling that this very wet market is the known ‘ground zero’ of the global pandemic.

SINCE the outbreak of COVID-19 later that year, Shi has repeatedly denied allegations that the virus leaked from her lab, claiming she had tested all of their samples without finding an exact match for the strain of the virus that has infected humans. Instead, Shi posited that the “coronavirus is nature punishing the human race for keeping uncivilized living habits” and said, “I swear on my life that it has nothing to do with our laboratory,” reported Caixin.

However, in 2010, Shi published a paper describing a scenario in which infected rodents led to a deadly virus being leaked from a Chinese lab. The paper, titled “Hantavirus outbreak associated with laboratory rats in Yunnan, China,” reports on an incident in which an outbreak of hantavirus hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) occurred at a college in Kunming as the result of a lab leak in 2003.[…] An Australian geneticist who publishes scientific papers under the name Zhang Daoyu told Taiwan News that Shi pointed to the lack of animal infections outside the facility as important evidence that the virus leak had occurred within the lab.

In the case of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, none of the animals at the now-infamous Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market actually tested positive for the virus, reported Live Science. You’re grasping at straws now, resorting to Strawman arguments, after I’ve pointed out the mistake on your part regarding the location of the Wuhan Institute of Virology which is nowhere near the Huanan Seafood Market.

Virologist Robert Renfield explains the suspicious transmissibility of the Covid-19 virus is inconsistent with a recent natural origin in a jump from bats, but what one would expect from a pathogen subjected to standard virology techniques.

If ‘suspicious transmissibility’ were prima facie evidence of a lab–made origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, then one could argue the same lab-made origin for the Italian ‘G’ strain which emerged in Northern Italy, sometime in Jan 2020. That Italian ‘G’ carried the D614G mutation in its spike S protein which increases its ‘suspicious transmissibility’. Ditto for the South Korean V strain, Indonesian ‘O’ strains, etc. Now we have the Indian variant, UK variant, South African variant, Brazilian variant, etc. which are much more infectious than the prior strains. Are those newer strains lab-made too due to their ‘suspicious transmissibility’?

    https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2020/05/06/coronavirus-strain-in-indonesia-different-from-those-of-other-countries-govt-says.html

The coronavirus strain that has swept across Indonesia is different from at least three other known SARS-CoV-2 strains affecting the rest of the world, the government has said. The conclusion was based on an analysis of data on three complete genome sequences of the coronavirus in the archipelago submitted by the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology to GISAID, Research and Technology Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said.

    https://graphics.reuters.com/HEALTH-CORONAVIRUS/EVOLUTION/yxmpjqkdzvr/

Singapore recorded a significant number of O strains – virus variants that did not develop into sustained lineages – for several weeks. Deakin University’s Bennett said that likely reflected the fact that most of Singapore’s outbreaks were in separate foreign worker dormitories and quickly contained to those facilities.

In South Korea, the V strain became dominant for a period linked to a huge cluster of cases at a religious sect in the city of Daegu.

Scientific evidence in the form of phylogenetic analyses have already shown that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain, Italian ‘G’ strain, South Korean ‘V’ strain and the Indonesian ‘O’ strains evolved independently of each other, having a sibling rather than a parent-child relationship. Empirical evidence also shows that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain was contained early on by quarantine measures which prevented its spread outside of China as flight bans took effect by the first week of Feb 2020.

Lastly, scientific studies have shown that Covid-19 antibodies have been found in blood samples and waster water samples collected in various European countries during the year 2019 which proves that the ancestral strain of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus had been circulating globally since 2019. The lab-made origin hypothesis is quite weak given the multiplicity of different strains which evolved independently of each other. As of today, the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is still evolving by mutating into different variants, as found in the UK, India, Brazil, South Africa, California, etc.

  155. Jewish Power figures, “Let’s take it one thing at a time.”

Jews knew all about the Covid-virus from the beginning. But their priority was to remove Trump, and so they suppressed any news of its China origin. After all, Trump could run with it as the patriotic defender of the US against a foreign disease hatched by the Chinese.
But if the ‘science’ says Covid is natural, then Trump could not politicize it against a foreign enemy. Rather, it’s just something that came out of nature but which Trump failed to protect Americans from.

It had nothing to do with science. It was all about politics.
First, Trump had to be removed.

Now that he is gone, Covid can be blamed on China because Jews, Democrats, and Biden can own the patriotic narrative of US having been wrecked by evil Chinese.

It reminds me of Charles Krauthammer’s piece on Middle East Policy. He supported the Gulf War and Iraq War but also defended his past support of Hussein. In the 1980s, the main priority was to undermine Iran. So, Hussein was useful as an ally the US could supply to attack and weaken Iran. As Iraq came out ahead in the war, Neocons deemed it Mission Accomplished. Iran had promised to defeat Iraq but finally sued for peace because the war had a devastating impact on the economy.

But now that Hussein was no longer useful, the US could target Iraq for destruction.

    One thing at a time.

Never trust these people. Trump, Chinese leadership, and anyone in the world should know that when Jewish Power lends a hand, it is never in good faith. You may be ‘friend’ today but soon will be ‘enemy’ tomorrow and killed… if it is good for the Tribe.

And even if the research took a pause and then started up again—maybe because new funding finally started to flow via EcoHealth, did Trump know anything about this?

    I very much doubt it.

“Under Trump” sounds damning (It’s all Trump’s fault wha wha) but is in fact irrelevant.

The smoking gun is the D614G mutation in the spike S protein of the Italian ‘G’ strain which makes it 10x more infectious according to scientific studies to date. As flight bans and passenger quarantines took effect early on against travelers from China, these containment measures effectively stopped the Wuhan ‘L’ strain from spreading outside of China as early as the first week of Feb 2020 while the Italian ‘G’ strain spread like wildfire throughout Europe and North America.

People complaining about the low numbers of Covid-19 cases being reported in Wuhan suspect a CCP coverup of some sort. But the truth is that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain did not have the D614G mutation which made it less infectious than the Italian ‘G’ strain which did have this D614G mutation. That was the difference between the two strains which made the Italian ‘G’ strain 10x more infectious than the Wuhan ‘L’ strain, thus leading to the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases in Europe and North America, which then spread to Asia and the rest of the world. By May 2020, the Wuhan ‘L’ strain had already died down while the Italian ‘G’ strain swept the world.

The Western media’s obsessive-compulsive focus on the ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories ignore this salient fact: that the Italian ‘G’ strain — not the Wuhan ‘L’ strain — spread like wildfire throughout Europe, North America and thence to Asia which caused the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The US CDC did have its representatives in China withdrawn by Trump prior to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2019. Their job was to monitor such outbreaks by working closely with the Chinese CDC in China

By my way of thinking, it seems far from unlikely that The Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention facility at 288 Machang Road in Wuhan was doing visits to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (0nly level 4 virology institute in all of China) for inspections.Surely that would have entailed meeting and talking to people who worked at the Institute. The Covid -19 pathogen is a respiratory virus, and so what is important for tracing the spread back to patent zero is establishing who is was talking face to face with who.

Were someone at the Wuhan Institute of Virology to have become with infected with the COVID-19 virus and, while not yet showing symptoms, have spoken to someone from Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention facility at 288 Machang Road, then that would explain why the earliest cluster we know of is the wet market within smelling distance of the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention facility at 288 Machang Road in Wuhan.

Another line of reasoning involves applying Shi’s own logic from her 2010 paper on the Hantavirus outbreak in Yunnan. The very lack of infection with the COVID-19 pathogen among animals at the Wuhan wet market a stone’s throw from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention’s facility is an indication that the outbreak in the city was the result of a leak from her lab. Moreover. there is evidence Shi, as part of her research, was tuning bat coronaviruses to infect human cells. (using humanised mice).

Shi also pointed out in her 2010 paper that the area where natural origin Hantavirus outbreaks occurred was remote from the lab location. This lack of propinquity is even more true of the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan of a disease found in wild bats who live in caves a thousand miles away.

The little masters of the universe in white coats enjoy the attention from their corporate and military sponsors and are indifferent to the consequences of such pathogen manipulation on the broad population – especially on the superfluous poor and elderly

Maybe. U.S. Embassy staff were told in 2018 that Chinese researchers had discovered bats from caves in Yunnan province with novel coronaviruses viruses at infecting human lung cells. The Wuhan Institute of Virology seems have filed patents for “bat rearing cages” and “artificial breeding” systems in early 2019. However, a disease of bats could be bad if you caught it through exposure to bat guano, but even if it somehow made the jump to humans like SARS did in 2002, it is unlikely to exhibit sustained human–human transmissibility. Virologist Robert Renfield found the extreme human–human transmissibility of the Covid-19 virus inconsistent with a recent natural origin in a jump from bats, but is what one would expect from a pathogen subjected to virology techniques. So perhaps they got viruses from bats and then amped the transmissibility up and had a little accident.

Your line of reasoning is so convoluted that I don’t know what you’re talking about.

The empirical evidence shows the improbability of the ‘Wuhan lab leak’ theory, not just the physical distance of the Wuhan Institute of Virology (‘lab’) to the Huanan Seafood Market but also the absence of any viral outbreak in the vicinity of the ‘lab’ which would have been reported by US intelligence who had agents on the ground monitoring the place. Besides, the Chinese authorities themselves would have imposed a city-wide lockdown as it’s impossible for them to hide such a viral outbreak.

The scientific evidence further disproves the two ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories, whether the ‘Wuhan lab leak’ theory or the ‘Wuhan wet market’ theory because of the discovery of multiple strains arising almost simultaneously in Wuhan, Italy, South Korea, Indonesia, etc. during the first few months of the Covid-19 pandemic. Phylogenetic analyses have shown that those multiple ‘strains’ evolved independently of each other in multiple locations all over the world.

Despite the public attention focused on the Wuhan ‘L’ strain, the fact is that the Italian ‘G’ strain which carries the D614G mutation had emerged in Europe and then spread to North America, thence to Asia which caused the Covid-19 pandemic. Here’s a graph showing how the D614G strains came to dominate the world by June 2020:

All the subsequent variants showing mutations in their spike S protein evolved out of the Italian ‘G’ strain (and its GH and GR variants) in places like UK, South Africa, Brazil and India, the latter of which has been experiencing a massive resurgence due to the Indian variant.

The presence of multiple different strains arising all over the world also weakens the ‘man-made’ hypothesis considerably as it would require that someone created multiple strains in one lab and then deliberately ‘seeded’ them in multiple locations all over the world. As the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus continues to mutate, its natural ability to modify its own spike S protein points to a natural not man-made origin. If the SARS-CoV-2 had been spreading all over the world during the year 2019, that would explain the presence of Covid-19 antibodies in Europe during the year 2019 prior to the viral outbreak in Wuhan in late December of that year.

Anyway, for the sake of argument let us assume we have proof of Covid -19 cases in Italy predating the earliest cases in Wuhan; it must be questioned why there was no pandemic in Italy in December, and retroactively doubted that ourt putative proof actually is such. Italian scientists are far from infallible; ask Amanda Knox the forensic DNA proof in her conviction turned out on close examination to be very dubious and she was definitively acquitted. Unlike other developed countries, Italy joined China’s New Silk Road project, and people were travelling to China, but also from there to China.

You are overthinking it and agreeing with those saying they see patterns, but underestimating a mindless, mechanical and algorithmic process called natural selection. SARS-CoV-2 mink-associated variant strain – Denmark. But no one would suggests the Covid -19 pathogen (SARS-CoV-2) came from mink in North Jutland even if the mink variant was so much more human–human transmissible that it exponentially grew at the expense of its ancestor to become the main or even only strain of SARS-CoV-2 in the world human population.

From papers they published as far back as 2015 it is likely chimeric viruses with amped up human–human transmissibility were produced by the Wuhan Virology Institute before the even began (2017) setting up of a Biosafety level 4 capability, which entails working contained in an airtight biosafety cabinet while wearing a pressure suit; when exiting the cabinet: decontamination, then removing the decontaminated suit and finally a very thorough shower. Hu et al (2017) acknowledged the Wuhan Virology Institute had been funded by the American taxpayer (USAID).The BSL-4 level lab became functional only in January 2018.

In 2017, US diplomats in Beijing were told about potential pandemic coronaviruses being worked on in Wuhan and rapidly sent the first of a series of teams to check on whether the facility was operating appropriate to the level of containment proper to such dangerous experimentation. The final US safety-check visit was after the BSL-4 lab in Wuhan came on stream in Jan 2018, and US experts reported Wuhan was insecure due to a lack of enough qualified personnel to follow the BSL-4 protocols.

You could be right about the sloppy standards of the Chinese researchers at the WIV which proves their lack of professionalism. You may be right too about the dangerous work being done at the WIV which makes them suspect as the cause of a ‘lab leak’ back in 2019 or even earlier.

But that’s not the point of this exercise which is to determine the cause of the Covid-19 pandemic. After all, we should not engage in some kind of witch hunt against the Chinese researchers at the WIV which is detrimental to our cause of finding the truth about the Covid-19 pandemic.

The problem with your ‘Out of Wuhan’ narrative is that you keep using ‘facts’ as strawmen to support your theory even though they are immaterial to the question of how the Covid-19 pandemic actually took place. This obsessive-compulsive focus on the ‘Out of Wuhan’ narrative misses the whole story of the Covid-19 pandemic which is now well-documented by empirical data and scientific evidence. Rather than dwell on the various Conspiracy Theories which seem to afflict the readers of UNZ, it is more fruitful to discuss the actual events that took place over the course of the last 18 months from the time the first Covid-19 case was reported in Wuhan in late December 2019 to this day.

Take a look at this graph which shows the new cases of Covid-19 reported during 2020:

The Covid-19 cases attributed to the Wuhan ‘L’ strain which is the subject of the ‘Out of Wuhan’ hysteria accounts for less than 1% of the total number of Covid-19 cases during the year 2020. Excluding China, the number of Covid-19 cases attributed to the Wuhan ‘L’ strain worldwide outside of China is statistically insignificant.

So instead of being obsessive-compulsive about the ‘Out of Wuhan’ narrative, try calming down and think rationally about what actually caused the global Covid-19 pandemic. I will give you a hint: D614G. That’s all you need to find out what actually caused the global Covid-19 pandemic. Here’s another graph showing the number of Covid-19 cases involving SARS-CoV-2 strains with the D614G mutation:

See what it says? “By the end of June, the D614G mutation was found in almost all SARS-CoV-2 samples worldwide.” But here’s the killer: the Wuhan ‘L’ strain did NOT have this D614G mutation which implies that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain did NOT cause the global Covid-19 pandemic because the number of Covid-19 cases involving the Wuhan ‘L’ strain outside of China is statistically insignificant with the Wuhan ‘L’ strain having disappeared worldwide by May 2020.

My mother and father caused me, but that is the most recent link in a chain and going back in my ancestry there will be modern humans, and then archaic humans and apes, which are different species to me in a paleontological sense (ie because those species are extinct).

    https://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-staggers/2011/12/issue-essay-line-dawkins
Humans are clearly separable from chimpanzees and pigs and fish and lemons only because the intermediates that would otherwise link them in interbreeding chains happen to be extinct. This is not to deny that we are different from other species. We certainly are different and the differences are important – important enough to justify eating them (vegetables are our cousins too). But it is a reason for scepticism of any philosophy or theology (or morality or jurisprudence or politics) that treats humanness, or personhood, as some kind of essentialist absolute, which you either definitely have or definitely don’t have. If your theology tells you that humans should receive special respect and moral privilege as the only species that possesses a soul, you have to face up to the awkward question of when, in human evolution, the first ensouled baby was born. Was it when the first Homo sapiens baby was born

The Covid-19 pathogen that can be said to have caused the pandemic is the original one that gave rise to the others. Except if you are arguing that that the Wuhan L strain is not more or less the original 2019 Covid-19 virus from which all other strains and variants have since diverged, it is is very difficult to follow the line of reasoning whereby you avoid concluding that Wuhan ‘L’ strain caused the global pandemic, in the way my parents still caused me whether I live long and father thousands of children, or die without reproducing while my siblings have huge numbers of offspring.

Phylogenetic studies have shown that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain is NOT ancestral to the Italian ‘G’ strain which spread throughout Europe, reached North America and thence to Asia. Note that the number of cases involving the Wuhan ‘L’ strain in Italy after flights from China were banned in January 31st, 2020 had dropped down to ZERO thereafter. It was only three weeks later that the Italian ‘G’ strain which did not exist in Wuhan emerged in Northern Italy which then spread like wildfire throughout Europe. That ‘G’ strain contained the D614G mutation which did not exist in the Wuhan ‘L’ strain. Here’s a WHO article noting the ‘increased infectivity and transmission’ of the Italian ‘G’ strain with the D614G mutation:

A variant of SARS-CoV-2 with a D614G substitution in the gene encoding the spike protein emerged in late January or early February 2020. Over a period of several months, the D614G mutation replaced the initial SARS-CoV-2 strain identified in China and by June 2020 became the dominant form of the virus circulating globally. Studies in human respiratory cells and in animal models demonstrated that compared to the initial virus strain, the strain with the D614G substitution has increased infectivity and transmission. The SARS-CoV-2 virus with the D614G substitution does not cause more severe illness or alter the effectiveness of existing laboratory diagnostics, therapeutics, vaccines, or public health preventive measures.

Instead of assuming that the Italian ‘G’ strain must have descended from the Wuhan ‘L’ strain which is not possible either empirically (due to the flight bans on China) or scientifically (based on phylogenetic analysis), you now have to prove your ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories that the Italian ‘G’ strain came out of Wuhan, either directly or indirectly. If you can’t prove that, then that implies the ancestor of both strains came from somewhere else.

Trump wanted to blame the Wuhan ‘L’ strain for causing the Covid-19 pandemic in the USA. Yet, the number of Covid-19 cases involving the Wuhan ‘L’ strain had declined dramatically after he imposed the flight ban on China starting February 1st, 2020. What happened in reality was that the number of Covid-19 cases involving the ‘G’ strain (and its GH and GR variants) which arrived from Europe had exploded exponentially in the USA because Trump refused to adopt containment measures against the Covid-19 pandemic by pretending that nothing happened. People were questioning the number of Covid-19 cases in China, wondering why it was too low and accusing the Chinese of a cover-up. The answer is that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain did not contain the D614G mutation which, in addition to containment measures adopted by China, explains its slow spread unlike the Italian ‘G’ strain whose D614G mutation increased its ‘infectivity and transmission’ as noted by the WHO article above, made worse by the cavalier attitude expressed by the Trump Administration.

To end this post, please do me a favor and do your homework by learning more about the D614G mutation instead of becoming too obsessive-compulsive regarding the ‘Out of Wuhan’ narrative.

If China was not up against the D614G mutation with its increased infectivity and transmission in the early weeks of the pandemic, that suggests such an advantageous mutation hadn’t arisen in China because the virus there was brand new, being close to the origin of the Covid-10 pathogen. But you’re the one claiming that human-to-human transmissibility of the Wuhan ‘L’ strain makes it a ‘man-made’ coronavirus. So now you’re changing your story by claiming that the D614G mutation was not ‘man-made’ but a ‘random’ event which is responsible for making the Italian ‘G’ strain up to 10X more infectious, as observed by several studies. Here’s a research study entitled “Mutation D614G increases SARS-CoV-2 transmission”:

The increased viral replication of the G614 virus in the upper respiratory tract may augment human-to-human transmissibility and account for the global dominance of viruses bearing D614G but the underlying mechanism remains elusive.

If you’re saying that it’s possible for the Italian ‘G’ strain to have evolved naturally based on ‘random’ events which gave rise to the D614G mutation in its spike S protein, thereby making it 10x more infectious than the Wuhan ‘L’ strain which lacks the D614G mutation, then you’ve just contradicted yourself.

If you believe in the ‘man-made’ hypothesis that the Wuhan ‘L’ strain must be ‘man-made’, then the Italian ‘G’ strain, which is 10x more infectious than the Wuhan ‘L’ strain, must perforce be ‘man-made’ as well, based on your criteria of human-to-human transmissibility which you’ve cited from Robert Renfield’s work.

You can’t have it both ways. Either those two strains were ‘man-made’ or that both strains have natural origins, i.e., they evolved from an earlier ancestral strain due to random mutations.

If China was not up against the D614G mutation with its increased infectivity and transmission in the early weeks of the pandemic, that suggests such an advantageous mutation hadn’t arisen in China because the virus there was brand new, being close to the origin of the Covid-10 pathogen. Think about it.

Not true at all as the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus adapts itself to its host population by natural selection, i.e., its spike S protein mutates in order to become more effective in transmitting itself to its host body. The earliest Covid-19 cases reported in Asia involved the Wuhan ‘L’ strain as well as its descendant ‘S’ strain. There were two other outlier strains: ‘V’ strain in South Korea and the ‘O’ strain in Indonesia.

So how come the D614G mutation didn’t show up in Asia rather than in Europe? Because the D614G mutation seems to have increased transmissibility amongst Europeans. In other words, the Wuhan ‘L’ strain (and its descendant ‘S’ strain) as well as the South Korean ‘V’ strain (found in Daegu) and the Indonesian ‘L’ strain (found in Singapore) didn’t need the D614G mutation because they had successfully infected the host population of Asians.

The original Covid-19 pathogen in Wuhan without the D614G mutation was sustainably infectious human–human enough to cause an pandemic in Wuhan. If the original Covid-19 pathogen identical to the first cases in Wuhan (without the D614G mutation) had been in Italy before the Wuhan pandemic began, then it would have caused a pandemic in Italy before the one in Wuhan. But you’re the one claiming that human-to-human transmissibility of the Wuhan ‘L’ strain makes it a ‘man-made’ coronavirus.

No. That that it escaped from a lab does not mean it was constructed there. I simply think the reasoning of the virologist Robert Renfeild that the human–human transmissibility was from the begining at a surprisingly high level, is worth mentioning. Right from the begining the virus caused a pandemic first reported in Wuhan, which is powerful–even if circumstantial–evidence for the Gain of Function experiments and search for new bat coronaviruses that were naturally infectious to humans by the Wuhan Institute for Virology being responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic having started in Wuhan.

Consider: the relevant bats’ home is hundreds of miles away; in 2017 US diplomats were told in a presentation that the Wuhan Virology Institute had found bats in a cave in Yunnan Province with three new coronaviruses very good at infecting humans; US experts visited the WVI and found it was not being operated properly. There are indications the WVI were keeping live bats and breeding them. The propinquity of the Wuhan institute enhancing bat coronaviruses capability to infect human cells to the original outbreak of a surprisingly infectious bat coronavirus global pandemic in humans makes one skeptical that a connection can be ruled out without much more data. But neither the Chinese government, for who Trump was their worst nightmare, or the anti-nationalist Russiagate mongering MSM and their allies in the Trump hating US Deep State that funded such long-known-to be-dangerous GOF research in China (of all places) are entirely without conflicts of interest in this matter.

A laboratory gain of function experiment that modified a coronavirus to infect humans better would not affect its capacity for further deveopment along the same lines by natural evolution after it got released. In nature, evolution by natural selection involves an advantageous mutation starting from square one and then taking over. So it might be the WVI having had an accidental release of a GOFed bat coronavirus, or an escape of a naturally human–human transmissible one, which we know that they had three of in the Wuhan lab in 2017. The relatively extreme human–human transmissibility of the Covid-19 pathogen out of the gate suggests it was artificially amped up a bit. None of this is conclusive though, it could be it was a series of coincidences. We have to know more.

Man, your ever changing story keeps changing every time new evidence is presented which debunks your ‘man-made’ hypothesis. Robert Renfield is probably the most prominent scientist who is a strong proponent of the ‘man-made’ hypothesis, which claims that the increased human-to-human transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus must have been the result of ‘man-made’ modifications to its spike S protein. Now that the Italian ‘G’ strain has been shown to be up to 10x more transmissible due to the presence of the D614G mutation in its spike S protein, Renfield’s own logic implies that the D614G mutation must have been ‘man-made’ too. But ‘man-made’ where? In Wuhan? How did that Italian ‘G’ strain end up in Italy if it was ‘man-made’ in Wuhan?

Here’s a research study entitled “Unexpected detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the prepandemic period in Italy” providing scientific evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus which causes Covid-19 had been circulating in Italy as early as September 2019:

    https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0300891620974755

There are no robust data on the real onset of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and spread in the prepandemic period worldwide. We investigated the presence of SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD)–specific antibodies in blood samples of 959 asymptomatic individuals enrolled in a prospective lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 to track the date of onset, frequency, and temporal and geographic variations across the Italian regions. SARS-CoV-2 RBD-specific antibodies were detected in 111 of 959 (11.6%) individuals, starting from September 2019 (14%), with a cluster of positive cases (>30%) in the second week of February 2020 and the highest number (53.2%) in Lombardy. This study shows an unexpected very early circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among asymptomatic individuals in Italy several months before the first patient was identified, and clarifies the onset and spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Finding SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in asymptomatic people before the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy may reshape the history of pandemic.

Which is hardly evidence for him being wrong about the lab leak in Wuhan. However, that he said it began circulating in Wuhan is no guess, everyone accepts that. To learn what the cutting edge science is on this subject please study the graphic below which is from An evolutionary portrait of the progenitor SARS-CoV-2 and its dominant offshoots in COVID-19 pandemic.

    Try debunking THAT.

I can’t without asking “what is the false positive rate for this test? “.

I beg to disagree. Here’s why:

At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, all sorts of Conspiracy Theories came out which relied upon circumstantial evidence to produce the ‘man-made’ hypothesis as well as the two ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories, implicating either the Wuhan Wet Market or the Wuhan Institute of Virology as the original source of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. The Western MSM then quickly dismissed them as crackpot theories. However, the scientific evidence accumulated since then has greatly weakened the ‘man-made’ hypothesis which fails to account for the presence of multiple strains arising simultaneously all over the world which then evolved independently of each other. This scientific evidence in the form of hundreds of genetic studies on millions of DNA samples has also disproved the two ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories which could not explain the orthogonality of the multiple strains found all over the world.

While the USA has indeed carried out biological weapons research in the past and probably still do today, the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus ain’t one of them as it’s relatively harmless to qualify as a bioweapon and comparatively moderate in its severity, both in virality and lethality. The US Deep State, the US Democratic Party and the Western MSM took advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic by ‘weaponizing’ the virus against Trump. It’s more of a political weapon which is now being used against China.

In simple terms, the SARS-CoV-2 is a moderately severe but relatively infectious flu-like coronavirus which arose from natural evolution. Anything more complicated than that violates Occam’s razor.

There is no evidence so far that the first bat-to-animal, the first animal-to-human and the first human-to-human transmissions of SARS-CoV-2 took place in China. But China’s wildlife trade could have served as a conduit for the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus into China via the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market where wildlife of all kinds are imported from foreign countries such as those in Southeast Asia.

According to this study, the most likely transmission route of SARS-CoV-2 comes from China’s wildlife trade:

    https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2021/03/21/asia-pacific/coronavirus-origins-animal-trade/

Scientists tracing the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic believe they have identified a possible transmission source: China’s thriving wildlife trade.

The highly anticipated findings from experts convened by the World Health Organization and the Chinese government are expected to show parallels to the spawning in 2002 of SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome), a bat-borne coronavirus spread by civets that killed 800 people. The path trod by SARS-CoV-2 — as the new coronavirus is known — before it emerged in central China in December 2019 remains a mystery, though it’s one researchers say can be solved.

In Wuhan, where the first cluster of cases occurred, scientists involved in the hunt identified four hypotheses to explain the virus’s genesis, including two that stoked controversy even as they were deemed unlikely. The idea that the virus was introduced via contaminated food or packaging is one embraced in Beijing, while the Trump administration said it may have been the result of a laboratory accident. But the most plausible theory, say experts involved in the mission, concerns China’s wildlife trade for food, furs and traditional medicine, a business worth about 520 billion yuan ($80 billion) in 2016.

For more information on coronaviruses, here’s a good introduction:

The first human CoV was isolated in the 1960s from nasal discharges of patients suffering from the common cold (4). The two human CoVs (HCoVs)—HCoV-OC43 and HCoV-229E—are estimated to be involved in about 30% of common colds. Since then, more knowledge has accumulated through extensive studies of HCoV-229E and HCoV-OC43 (5). It was believed that infection with HCoVs was mild until the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (SARS-CoV). The outbreak of SARS-CoV, in 2003, was one of the most devastating spillovers in current history, infecting over 8000 people and having a crude case fatality of ~10% (6, 7). A decade later, another zoonotic infection emerged in the Middle East region, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), which caused a spillover in 2012 that resulted in a persistent epidemic in the Arabian peninsula and sporadic spreading to the rest of the world (8, 9). The MERS-CoV infection of humans causes fatal severe pneumonia (8), with a case mortality of 35% (10). The 2019 novel HCoV (2019-nCoV), which was subsequently renamed SARS-CoV2 (11), is a newly emerged human CoV that has resulted in a global and ongoing pandemic that has claimed more than 710,110 lives and infected more than 18,895,712 people as of August 5, 2020 (12).

It is strongly believed that HCoVs have a zoonotic origin from bats, mice, or domestic animals (13, 14). Indeed, more specifically, ample evidence suggests that the evolutionary origin of all HCoVs lies in bats, which are well-adapted and non-pathogenic but show great genetic diversity. Tracing the zoonotic origins of HCoVs provides a framework to understand the natural history, driving force, and restrictive factors of cross-species transmission (14).

Note the sentence in bold which debunks the common misconception that bat coronaviruses are pathogenic as implied in your earlier posts on the alleged mishandling of bat coronaviruses in either the Wuhan Institute of Virology or the CDC branch near the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market. They are not. That’s why an intermediate host is needed for the bat coronavirus (CoV) to mutate its spike S protein which could then infect a human host. The civet cat served as the intermediate host for SARS-CoV-1 while the camel served as the intermediate host for MERS-CoV. The pangolin was thought to have been the intermediate host for SARS-CoV-2 but no pangolin with SARS-CoV-2 has been found.

One last note: there was a rare case of the Yunnan cave where a bat coronavirus was found to have caused the deaths of miners. But that CoV only matched 96% of the RNA of SARS-CoV-2. So the hunt is still on for the intermediate host of SARS-CoV-2.

A viable hypothesis is that of a natural spillover having as patient zero a bat-collector in the Chinese CDC staff. As has been observed in several comments above this one, the Chinese CDC is approximately 300 m from the Huanan market.

Sorry but you’re wrong. Bat coronaviruses (CoV) are NOT pathogenic to humans. That’s why they need an intermediate host for the CoV to mutate to a form that can infect humans.

Bat coronaviruses (CoV) are NOT pathogenic to humans.

The incidents at the Mojiang mine in 2012 were an example of humans getting ill after having been infected with bat coronaviruses. As professor William R. Gallaher explains:

My second correction relates to the ongoing speculation about animal intermediates. There are zero data that any animal but a bat served as a host to SARS-CoV-2 prior to its introduction into humans. The 2012 Tongguan mine outbreak in six miners in Yunnan province, of a COVID like pneumonia with thromboembolism, that killed three of the miners, is ample precedent for direct infection of humans from bats (3). The closest known relative to SARS-CoV-2, Bat RaTG13, was isolated from that same mineshaft the following year. That mine is now closed, and referred to by locals as the “mine of death”. That sounds like a “hot zone” to me.

They found lots of coronaviruses in that cave. The identities of the virus or viruses which infected the miners were not published. RaTG13, which is a 96% match to SARS-CoV-2, was one of the viruses which were found in that mine. It was never established that it was that virus which infected the miners; in fact, they may have been infected with more than one virus.

That case involving bat coronaviruses in the Yunnan cave which was thought to have caused the deaths of the miners is very rare as most bat coronaviruses don’t have the ability to infect humans. That was the whole idea behind the GoF research done at the WIV in cooperation with other Western labs as the Western researchers had done GoF research in the past two decades. To do that, the WIV had to gather lots of different bat coronaviruses and see which one is the closest RNA match to the SARS-CoV-1 virus involving civet cats which hit Guangzhou in 2003. The Chinese scientists wanted to understand the mechanism of pathogenesis which caused the SARS-CoV-1 to emerge in civet cats from bat coronaviruses.

You seem to imply as did poster ‘smith’ that the CDC branch near the Huanan Seafood Market could have leaked the bat coronaviruses RaTG13 which would have caused the Covid-19 pandemic. But as you yourself admitted in your last post quoted below:

They found lots of coronaviruses in that cave. The identities of the virus or viruses which infected the miners were not published. RaTG13, which is a 96% match to SARS-CoV-2, was one of the viruses which were found in that mine. It was never established that it was that virus which infected the miners; in fact, they may have been infected with more than one virus.

Chinese scientists had samples of all the viruses which infected the miners in that cave. They retested those bat samples against the SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and found seronegative results. Here’s an updated Nature article elucidating their findings:

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2951-z

Here we provide further information about the bat SARS-related coronavirus (SARSr-CoV) strain RaTG13 reported in our Article. Between 1 July and 1 October 2012, we received 13 serum samples collected from 4 patients (one of whom was deceased) who showed severe respiratory disease. These patients had visited a mine cave in Tongguan town, Mojiang County, Yunnan Province, China, to clean bat faeces in order to mine copper before being admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University on 26–27 April 2012. The samples we received were collected by the hospital staff in June, July, August and September 2012. To investigate the cause of the respiratory disease, we tested the samples using PCR methods developed in our laboratory targeting the RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RdRp) of Ebola virus, Nipah virus and bat SARSr-CoV Rp3, and all of the samples were negative for the presence of these viruses. We also tested the serum samples for the presence of antibodies against the nucleocapsid proteins of these three viruses, and none of the samples gave a positive result. Recently, we retested the samples with our validated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) against the SARS coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) nucleocapsid protein—which has greater than 90% amino acid sequence identity with bat SARSr-CoV Rp3—and confirmed that these patients were not infected by SARS-CoV-2.

The last sentence in bold says that ‘these patients were not infected by SARS-CoV-2.’

You guys don’t seem to know what you’re talking about, without understanding the pathogenesis of human coronaviruses which invariably involve an intermediate host such as civet cats (in the case of SARS-CoV-1), camels (in the case of MERS-CoV) and possibly pangolins (in the case of SARS-CoV-2). No lab samples stored in the WIV — whether the naturally-occurring bat samples found in the Yunnan cave or the GoF’d chimeric samples — had anything to do with the SARS-CoV-2. A hypothetical lab leak involving those lab samples could have caused another viral pandemic but definitely not of the SARS-CoV-2 kind.

Making up a fake bat coronavirus sequence either for self-protection only or at the demand of the CCP, RaTG13 is supposedly the closest relative to SARS-CoV2, but should have been thought out better. Even today, there are a lot of bright anonymous grad students and postdocs who saw through her coverup. Of course such low level students could not risk their careers by openly criticizing the “natural origin” of RaTG13, and thus SARS-CoV2.

RaTG13 matches 96% of the RNA of SARS-CoV-2. That ain’t good enough.

By way of comparison, the civet cat found in the Guangzhou Wet Market matched 99.9% of the RNA of SARS-CoV-1 while the pangolin found in the Wuhan Wet Market matched 90% of the RNA of SARS-CoV-2. Now, four and ten percent might not sound like a lot but they represent insurmountable obstacles for natural evolution to complete the missing RNA sequences.

Besides, RaTG13 was found in a Yunnan cave in China. But the pangolin which was suspected to have been the intermediate host of SARS-CoV-2 are not native to China but imported from Southeast Asia. That rules out the RaTG13 as the original source of the bat coronavirus which passed through the pangolin before becoming pathogenic to humans as SARS-CoV-2.

The most likely origin and source of the bat coronavirus is Southeast Asia where the first bat-to-pangolin and the first pangolin-to-human transmissions must have taken place because the pangolins sold in the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market were source there.

Well, the efficacy of SARS CoV2 as a bio-weapon is not yet fully elucidated. It still has a long way to go, and already caused three million deaths and trillions in economic damage, with the effects of the gene therapy bioweapon ‘vaccines’ yet to be seen. However we already have more vaccine related deaths in the USA (massively under-reported as all attest)due to these ‘injections’ on the VAER system than in the whole 21 years and 70 previous vaccines, since the registry’s inception. Moreover the US creators of bio-weapon will have many new ‘variants’ up their sleeves from serial passaging in vitro using humanised mouse tissue rich in human ACE2 receptors. And how the Hell do you know that the USA had no interest in or worked on SARS CoV2? Privy to ‘Above Top Secret’ research are you, in all the nooks and crannies of the VAST US bio-warfare establishment.

SARS-CoV-2 is another seasonal communicable illness that has slightly higher than average mortality, similar to 1968 Flu epidemic, but overladen with MOUNTAINS of perpetual disinformation and fear propagation.

Can you reveal the papers of the full isolation of the alleged SARS-C0V-2, other than the two papers: one from Wuhan and the other from the CDC?

SARS-C0V-2 was sequenced in silico in both of those papers.

  207. antibeast says:
    @Mulga Mumblebrain

SARS-CoV-2 has a low mortality rate of 2%, mostly affecting elderly people with pre-existing medical conditions. Without those cases, SARS-CoV-2 behaves like a moderately severe flu-like coronavirus which could remain asymptomatic for most healthy people. By way of comparison, SARS-CoV-2 is similar to human coronaviruses found all over the world such as the 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1 coronaviruses which cause flu-like symptoms but with low mortality rates unlike SARS-CoV-1 or MERS-CoV which has high mortality rates of 14% and 34% respectively.

The fact that multiple strains of SARS-CoV-2 emerged in Wuhan, Lombardy and Daegu within months of each other signify their natural evolution from a common ancestral strain. Phylogenetic analyses show the orthogonal nature of the evolutionary branches of these multiple strains which prove that they are siblings, having descended from a common ancestral strain, thus disproving the ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories because the Wuhan strain is not ancestral to the other strains.

Given its slow rate of mutation which causes it to become more infectious over time, SARS-CoV-2 looks more like a naturally-occurring coronavirus which then became politicized to harm the reelection of Trump. If Trump had taken early preventative measures to stop the spread of the European strains of SARS-CoV-2, then the Covid-19 pandemic would have been contained early on in the USA. As it were, Trump refused to adopt preventative measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic by pretending that it didn’t exist. That’s what caused the massive outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the USA.

    1. Is the COVID-19 virus a human-manipulated virus?
    2. Did this virus escaped from the lab?

The first question was answered fully by scientists who had examined the virus.
    The answer is “No”.

“Did a human-manipulated novel coronavirus escape from the lab and spread around the world?”

The British science writer Nicholas Wade who first made public his ‘opinion’ that the SARS-CoV-2 was likely the ‘man-made’ product of a lab and then ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology admits in the following interview that there is ZERO evidence to prove that 1). SARS-CoV-2 was ‘man-made’ in a lab; and that 2). SARS-CoV-2 ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Here’s the video of the interview (among several that Wade has given to the Western MSM):

Note that Wade repeatedly made it clear that there is ZERO evidence to prove his ‘opinion’ which is based on his observation that the Chinese scientists investigating the origins of SARS-CoV-2 has failed so far to identify the intermediate animal responsible for the zoonotic transmission of SARS-CoV-2 unlike in the case of SARS-CoV-1 during the 2003 SARS outbreak in China in which Chinese scientists did succeed in identifying the intermediate animal (civet cats) as well as isolating the animal coronavirus which mutated to become the human coronavirus of SARS-CoV-1.

So Wade himself admits that there is ZERO evidence to prove his ‘opinion’ of a ‘man-made’ coronavirus which ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. What he is saying is that the Chinese are presumed guilty until they prove themselves innocent of concocting the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus which somehow ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The above question is actually two independent questions.
    1. Is the COVID-19 virus a human-manipulated virus?
    2. Did this virus escaped from the lab?

The theory of the Wuhan ‘lab leak’ depends upon two hypotheses: 1). SARS-CoV-2 is a ‘man-made’ coronavirus and 2). SARS-CoV-2 ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. While admitting in his interview (shown in the video above) that there is ZERO evidence to prove these two hypotheses, Wade conveniently ignores the scientific evidence which disprove these two hypotheses.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began one-and-half years ago, a mountain of scientific evidence now exists to prove that SARS-CoV-2 did NOT originate in Wuhan. For example, Covid-19 antibodies have been discovered in wastewater samples as well as blood samples all over the world throughout the year 2019 BEFORE the viral outbreak in Wuhan in late December 2019. In addition. multiple strains of SARS-CoV-2 arose within months of each other in Wuhan, Lombardy and Daegu, whose evolutionary history show that they are sibling strains having evolved from a common ancestral strain, thereby disproving the ‘Out of Wuhan’ theories because the Wuhan strain is NOT ancestral to the other strains.

Contrary to Wade’s unproven ‘opinion’, the scientific evidence overwhelmingly shows that SARS-CoV-2 is NOT ‘man-made’ but a naturally-occurring coronavirus which have been found to be circulating throughout the world during the year 2019. That ancestral strain then mutated early on to become different strains which then caused the multiple viral outbreaks in Wuhan, Lombardy and Daegu within months of each other, despite the flight bans from China and quarantine measures against travelers from China effectively containing the Wuhan strain.

The fatal flaw in this Wuhan ‘lab leak’ theory is the premise that the Wuhan strain — first discovered in Wuhan in late December 2019 — is the ancestral strain of SARS-CoV-2. But the Wuhan strain is NOT the ancestral strain because multiple strains were discovered later in Lombardy, Italy and Daegu, South Korea which did NOT descend from the Wuhan strain. Just because the Wuhan strain was discovered first doesn’t mean that it is ancestral to the other strains, as proven by scientific evidence in the form of phylogenetic analyses which show that the Wuhan strain is NOT the ancestral strain of SARS-CoV-2.

Given this scientific evidence, the Wuhan ‘lab leak’ theory has to prove that ALL the other strains discovered later in Lombardy, Italy and Daegu, South Korea were also ‘man-made’ coronaviruses which somehow ‘escaped’ from the Wuhan Institute of Virology but ended up in those two places without showing up in Wuhan.
