Ah-OOO-gah! Nose ring sighted. Ah-OOO-gah! Prepare to take evasive action.

From Inside Higher Education:

This time it’s a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin at Madison — where Krug got her own Ph.D.

… The graduate student in question is CV Vitolo-Haddad, a Ph.D. candidate in journalism and mass communication. They (Vitolo-Haddad’s preferred pronoun) were outed last week via an anonymous post on Medium and subsequently wrote two posts of their own on the platform.

Vitolo-Haddad described their own actions as letting “guesses about my ancestry become answers I wanted but couldn’t prove” and allowing people to “make assumptions when I should have corrected them.” …

In the second, edited apology, Vitolo-Haddad described themself as “Southern Italian/Sicilian.” In trying to make sense of their experiences with race, “I grossly misstepped and placed myself in positions to be trusted on false premises. I went along with however people saw me.”

On social media, spanning years, however, Vitolo-Haddad has described themself as other than white — in various ways.

This summer, for instance, Vitolo-Haddad described themself as “italo habesha,” meaning of Italian and Eritrean or Ethiopian descent, and “lightskin,” according to screenshots included in the anonymous post outing them.

Several posts are also in Spanish, and allude to Latinx and/or Afro-Latinx ancestry. Tweeting about Krug just last week, they said that their mother described them as Cuban and that the “colorism we uphold and lean into to distance ourselves is actually why no one trusts.” Ironically, in retrospect, they called Krug a “Kansas cracker” who got a Ph.D. in “performing blackface.” They also described “transraciality” as “violence.”

In another 2017 post, Vitolo-Haddad wrote that their mother faulted them for not having enough burning sage to keep their dog “safe from los espíritus malignos,” or evil spirits. The post also seems to say that their mother is a “bruja,” or witch.

Other posts refer to their family’s history of being “colonized.”

The anonymous author of the Medium post says that Vitolo-Haddad is from a white, affluent Italian American family that lives in Florida. Haddad, according to the post, is a name Vitolo-Haddad kept from their past marriage. The author — described only as an affiliate of Madison — notes that Krug also described herself as having different nonwhite backgrounds, including North African and Afro-Latinx. …

What about Vitolo-Haddad? They said Wednesday via email that while they benefited “socially” in certain ways from the situation, they never applied for scholarships, fellowships or awards for people of color or identified as Black on any forms asking about their identification. They also said they’d never represented themself as Black in their published scholarship, which includes work on the rhetorical strategies of far-right groups.

Nobody in academia objects to CV Vitolo-Haddad, an obviously female female, demanding other people refer to her as “they” because Transgenderism is Settled Science.

But everybody in academia is mad that “they” claimed to be part black, because Transracialism profanes all that is scientific and holy.

Also, Race Does Not Exist.

The productive contribution of young women in a civilized society is ... babies. Specifically to find a decent productive young man and make him happy by having his babies, providing a solid environment for raising civilized children, who'll be ready at adulthood to carry the ball forward.

This woman is actually fortunate to be Southern Italian instead of all the flavors-of-the-month she cooks up. She's actually an heir to Western Civilization which should be cherishing and passing on to her kids. But ... she doesn't understand this. Perhaps has never even had anyone explain it!

Maybe a quarter of stuff Steve has flagged this year boils down to woman-who-is-not-raising-children-wants-attention.

Post-pill, liberated modern life seems to be even worse for women than it is for men. (And it's terrible for men!) Absent the emotional attached and focus a woman is supposed to have with her babies, her children, millions are at emotional/hormonal oose ends and social media makes it worse. Young women are the demographic who are the least informed, logical, level-headed ... and now suddenly TPTB have decided society needs to care about their deep thoughts.

Indeed. In, fact, shouldn’t the entire thing be re-worked, if one were to aim for any kind of consistency?

‘ In trying to make sense of their experiences with race, “We grossly misstepped and placed ourselves in positions to be trusted on false premises. We went along with however people saw us.”

Of course, the reality is that confused meaning is the aim. The inconsistency is half the meaning. Because what she is expressing is noise directed to an audience equally willing to interpret what she says. Delightful hours of gibberish and bickering, misunderstandings arise, and the work of civilization is further bogged down into progressive quicksand.

  17. Every time I see a plural pronoun refer to a singular individual I die a little more on the inside. My call to name anyone who wants to be a “they” an “it” instead (singular neuter) is apparently hate speech.

So yes, race cannot be performed by someone of another race and race cannot be changed but also race does not exist. But not having a Y chromosome, menstruating, and giving birth all determine nothing about sex or gender. The history will not need to be written by extra-terrestrials. These ideas are only promoted in countries that are, at least for the present, majority White, and not even in all of those, e.g. Russia. If we in the White West descend into an age of darkness, magical thinking, and superstition, then the rest of humanity, the vast bulk, will just poodle along like they always have.

One often hears naive and dim witted liberal types (I'm not suggesting you are one) say that soon "the world" will be coffee coloured. Not only does that not actually occur, because those countries that have been multiracial for the longest have a racial hierarchy, such as Brazil. But also of course these libtards seem to be ignorant of the fact that the USA or the UK are not "the world" and whatever weird practices and beliefs are inflicted on our societies will not be copied in India or in China or in Africa or anywhere else.

This summer, for instance, Vitolo-Haddad described themself as “italo habesha,” meaning of Italian and Eritrean or Ethiopian descent, and “lightskin,” according to screenshots included in the anonymous post outing them.

I wonder if she was inspired by the popular Italian Fascist marching song “Faccetta Nera” (“Little Black Face”):

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faccetta_Nera

The hymn is said to have been inspired by a beautiful young Abyssinian girl, who was found by the Italian troops at the beginning of the Italian invasion of Ethiopia.

Faccetta Nera talks about how the black girl will be taken back to Rome and offered a new life, free from the bonds of slavery. There, the song’s narrator explain that she will be introduced to new laws and rulers.

During the invasion the song was hugely popular in Italy and caused national fervor.[1] The implicitly erotic song was, however, somewhat of an embarrassment for the Fascist government, which had, starting in May 1936, introduced several laws prohibiting cohabitation and marriage between Italians and native people of the Italian colonial empire.[1] These efforts culminated in the Italian Racial Laws of 1938. The Fascist authorities considered banning the song, and removed all picture postcards depicting Abyssinian women from Roman shop windows.[1]

If you look at the sea from the hills

Like in a dream you will see many ships
And a tricolour waving for you

    Pretty black face, beautiful Abyssinian
Wait and see, for the hour is coming!
    When we are with you
We shall give you another law and another king

Our law is slavery of love
Our motto is FREEDOM and DUTY
    We, the blackshirts, will avenge

We will take you to Rome, as a freedwoman
You will be kissed by our sun

Pretty black face, you will be Roman
Your only flag will be the Italian one!

The productive contribution of young women in a civilized society is … babies. Specifically to find a decent productive young man and make him happy by having his babies, providing a solid environment for raising civilized children, who’ll be ready at adulthood to carry the ball forward.

This woman is actually fortunate to be Southern Italian instead of all the flavors-of-the-month she cooks up. She’s actually an heir to Western Civilization which should be cherishing and passing on to her kids. But … she doesn’t understand this. Perhaps has never even had anyone explain it!

Maybe a quarter of stuff Steve has flagged this year boils down to woman-who-is-not-raising-children-wants-attention.

Sixteen years on from when the term first pinged on Google’s radar, even those poor folks who were supposed to be liberated from the misogynistic nature of the Spanish language have scarcely noticed the memo. A poll released Tuesday by Pew Research Center shows that 76 percent of Hispanic-Americans haven’t even heard of ‘Latinx’.

Worse yet – and this really has to sting if you’re a gender studies professor at, say, Wellesley College or Yale University – only 3 percent of those surveyed use the term. In other words, even among those US residents of Hispanic descent who are hip to ‘Latinx’, seven out of eight have voted with their vocabularies to reject it.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer and more condescending word, really. ‘Latinx’ might have seemed doomed from the start, given that Spanish is an inherently gendered language, with nouns ending in an ‘a’ or an ‘o’ to signify them as being either feminine or masculine. Teaching the world to replace ‘Latino’ and ‘Latina’ with ‘Latinx’ figured to be a tall order.

It doesn’t matter whether anyone actually wants their artificial standards of political correctness; they’ll insist that their heroics are vital, even if those perceived as needy don’t see any reason to be liberated. “Give me your poor, your weak, your un-woke…”

If that means taking a word from someone’s language, butchering it and force-feeding it back to them, so be it. ‘Latinx’ is an ill-fitting answer to a question no one asked and a non-solution to a problem that didn’t exist.

One of the best points made about all of this. That was their currency, and when it was clear it could no longer “flow,” they were cut from the team.

Although these cases are the most egregious, I think with the increase in efforts to categorize (affirmative actionize) MENA, and of course, Hispanic/Latino, you are going to see some defensive counter shots when people start producing DNA tests showing they are indeed 1/4 this or that.

  48. With Vaguely PoC Academic Females, What’s a Scarier Warning Sign: Hoop Ear Rings or a Nose Ring?

Neither, nothing is a more significant warning sign than the hooknose. Hence an entire industry (rhinoplasty) designed to conceal it from the world.

  49. Expect an entire cottage industry to be built around defending against the results of being “outed”, including psychological damage (“the administration had the duty to investigate my background”) to legit DNA tests which show some specific amount of X, Y or Z . Read the federal census standards on the Hispanic/Latino category, carefully. It is very broad and can include where one’s ancestors hailed from (Iberia).

Southern Italian/Sicilian complicates this. Within Italy anti southern feeling is at times treated the same as “racism”.

They don't need to, but most women are probably going to feel a strong sense of loss if they never have children, and a lot of women realize this at an age where their window of fertility is closing rapidly. Big ideological movements tend to collect a lot of more-or-less functional crazy people, perhaps the sort who would previously have joined a monastary or gone off to make their way on the frontier or something. Obsessives have something to obsess about, apsies have something to memorize and recite to everyone, paranoids have an enemy they can point to, neurotics have a defined reason for their anxiety, even the really crazy folks have some kind of overarching story into which they can fit their delusions.

As a general rule I take “dumb movie” lines with a grain of salt myself, but since you brought it up, might you enlighten us (in terms of the anthropological history of Sicily) and point out the falsehoods in Dennis Hopper’s stupid movie lines?
