George Floyd died on Memorial Day 2020.

Granted, George Floyd did not, technically, die fighting in the nation’s armed forces in some half-forgotten war. But, in a higher sense, did he not die fighting in the New America’s greatest and most long-running war: against racism, against white supremacy, against statistical disparities in racial performance, against hair-touching?

So, they can call it Mayteenth.

  2. I think Steve should push for it … Hint: stress the hair-touching issue.

  3. OR, one might say he died in China’s fentanyl war on America.

Good, then the rest of us can get some work done in peace and quiet. Not have to listen to them yakking all day long. That standard job interview question; “ what didn’t you like about your last job?” Answer listening to my fellow workers yakking all day.

As they have had for 400 years.

Given the speed at which Joe Biden and our "leaders" are devaluing our money, George Floyd's face on the devalued $20 bill would be fitting. Or, better still, put Floyd's face on the newly authorized one gorillion dollar bills, when we reach that point where it takes $100 to buy a 40 of Olde English.

Both Tubman and George Floyd should be on the $20, artistically rendered standing side-by-side, her on the viewer's left, him on the right, in front of a destroyed and blazing police station or Target. Call it African Gothic.

Why not just create a thousand-dollar bill for Saint George? It should be worth about twenty bucks by the time its printed.
  9. Well, in one sense, like all good soldiers floyd did not let them take him prisoner. On the other hand, he was fighting our own troops. Floyd got a better send off than most Purple Heart recipients get, hell better than most Medal of Honor recipients get.

  16. Off topic… or on? I’ve got an idea that the new Diversity-Inclusion-Equity coordinator can implement. Whenever there is a choice between an object colored white, and an object colored some other color (especially brown), then the latter must be taken. This has the further advantage of being “environmental” – brown being “natural,” while white requires bleach.

    • in the cafeteria: all serviettes must be brown, not white, and all hard-boiled eggs must be the brown variety. Perhaps food coloring can be added to the milk.
    • in the copiers and printers: all paper must be beige, not white
    • for a dress code: a ban on wearing white shirts
    • all fleet vehicles to be not white in color
    • in the dorms: no white sheets or pillowcases
    • in the gym: no white towels

And so on. Let’s decenter whiteness!

  17. Rename Memorial Day? Just some lame ass holiday for dead soldiers?

Why are we the United States of America? Named after some huwhite, Florentine, explorer and travel writer?

Why not the United States of Floyd? Or cut to the chase the “The Floyd Empire”.

The ultimate Yankee holiday is Patriots' Day. If you live in one of the right states, you get an extra day to file federal income taxes. Which some of those states refused to ratify.

Of course, it doesn't commemorate patriots, but criminal traitors. The first Yankee lie!

  29. Floyd Day? I’ll see ya and raise ya. How about Antonio Gramsci Day, after the marxist who had the brilliant insight that there was no need to violently overthrow the system, just become employed as an HR director or a college president or a school teacher or a Woke Corporate Executive, and you get the same result, no muss, no fuss. All the institutions in New America are following Gramsci’s insight, so honoring him with a Day seems the least they can do.

  34. In Chicago they recently renamed Downtown’s Congress Parkway, Ida B. Wells Drive. Which is somewhat confusing since there has always been a Welles Street that runs through Chicago’s Loop. Now they’re talking about renaming Lake Shore Drive, DuSable Drive.

  35. Sure, let’s make a new religious calendar around the various saints of America’s Coloured Revolution, starting with the Feast of Saint George of Minneapolis falling in the month of Floyd. We’ve got the Feast of Saint Martin of Atlanta (or should we say The Martyr of Memphis?) falling in the month of Kangz. Given the vast number of blacks ruthlessly killed by American cops throughout the year, it will be easy to flesh out the calendar.

  44. It seems strange that there are two holidays Memorial Day and Veterans Day, one holiday for those who died while in the military, and the other holiday for those who survived in the military and died later, or are still alive.

Why not merge them both into one holiday in November and start over with a new holiday the last week in May or first in June called Prisoners Day in which we could celebrate all those Americans who have served time in American prisons, or worked in them.

This holiday would be immensely popular with all races and would be very inclusive and, of course, nonjudgmental, and would be a reminder that America leads the world in imprisoning its own people.

On this day people could remember George Floyd, Jeffrey Epstein, Mike Tyson, Bill Cosby, Julian Assange, Timothy McVeigh, OJ Simpson, Ghislaine Maxwell, Martha Stewart, Gordon Liddy, or anyone else they chose to commemorate.
