Here’s a popular poster explaining why “equity” is better than equality:
As this poster explains, we need “equity” rather than equal treatment of the laws because some groups are more immature than others.

With “equity,” the little freeloader will get hit in the face by a home run and lose an eye.

So we have to make sure all black children will be able to watch a sporting event without paying?
OT:
Paging Jeffrey Toobin.
I wonder if you meant to say “more childlike.”
In any event, the poster-metaphor is also interesting because it implies that there is some well-defined threshold (seeing over the fence), that everyone needs to be boosted up-to, at which point you can stop. The point is not to make the shortest person the same height as the tallest person, but just to boost him up to the minimum threshold to see the game.
Thus, once the child/short person has two crates to stand on, our job is done. Isn’t that really just symbolic of the minimum social safety net that already exists?
They are made the same height, or at least as close as they can be purely by redistributing boxes, so I don't understand your point.
The contrived thing about the baseball example is that the tall man gets no benefit from being able to see extra far over the fence with the box under him and so doesn't give anything up when he allows someone else to stand on it. It has nothing to do with real world examples where there are actual, felt negative effects from giving up resources.
The cartoon is so obviously childish and crude both in principle and in execution that's it's kind of bizarre that it's become so popular. Or I guess not bizarre at all.Replies: @DextersLabRat
A particular ethnic group would prefer not to pay for tickets, but rather to peek over the fence without paying? Is that the point? This seems racist.
Not pictured: White people who were blamed for the Box Gap and forced to pay for the boxes.
“Chicken on the Hill with Will”
https://baseballpastandpresent.com/uncategorized/chicken-on-the-hill-with-will/
It’s striking that there’s no white man in that picture. Or may there is, but we don’t see him because his equity box is in a hole six feet down.
On the other hand if the tall kid was white it would imply that whites were in a position of natural superiority, which would also be problematic.
The poster provides no information about who brought the crates to the ballgame, and that omission is why the poster is misleading.
If the three individuals go to the game and there are three crates lying about, then it makes sense for each persn to use the crates needed to see the game and the second frame is the outcome.
If, however, each individual brought one crate to the game, then the first panel makes sense. Why would the adult want his own crate? Well, he could sit on it when tired.
Wokesters want us to think of equity as dividing the spoils as if crates were everywhere and all we need to do is claim our fair share. Wokesters want to deny that there isn’t that much in the way of spoils just lying about. Wokesters do not want to admit that whites have more stuff because whites are better at making stuff. Wokesters want to take our stuff just like their ancestors would take low hanging fruit in the jungle. And suburbia.
I've seen that poster several times but didn't figure out why it bugged me. Thanks for putting your finger on the problem straight away. There's also an assumption that distributing resources is so simple, both when calculating who's got too much and who too little, and that resources always come in chunks that can be easily divided.
The poster reminds me of Marx's slogan "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". Do we know who drew the original version? Wouldn't surprise me if it comes from some chapter of the communist party.Replies: @James Speaks
Tradition. They didn’t pay a fare to get here, either.
Note that under “equality”, the tall (read: white) man is still getting a crate to stand on, which he obviously doesn’t need, and is refusing to share.
Let me put on my joyless scold cap for a moment. There’s no way that a small child will be able to balance on a crate for a prolonged period of time. He will either fall off or jump off. Worse, the small child cannot understand the game, and he needs it explained to him by his father for him to appreciate it. He gains nothing by seeing the game. It would be better for the child if the father take two crates for himself so that he can sit comfortably, put the child on his lap, and describe the game in a way that the child can understand. The extra crates will only contribute to an injury. Perhaps that is the real point of equity.
Careful you don't get a strike against your name for Altitudinal Bigotry, or Staturism, or whatever devilish new crime they may have thought up.Replies: @jamie b.

This implies that the distribution of the boxes will be voluntary, rather than coercive.
The picture doesn’t show the army of bureaucrats, judges and cops, at the ready, if the tall guy decides to keep his box.
Shitty and unconvincing propaganda. Poster would only be suitable for hanging a gay bar bathroom.
It would be more accurate if the little black kid was standing on top of 2 white kids.

They’re funny. That’s Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky dress that he jizzed all over, acting like a sexually provocative woman rather than the sexually aggressive man he actually was. And that’s George Bush playing like a child, with toys presumably meant to evoke 9/11 or one of his wars. That’s funny because Bush came off as very dumb and horribly mismanaged the response to 9/11 and the wars he launched.

Aside from the qualified white or Asian who is DENIED the job, there is this. Non-merit can be contagious; the qualified worker who ALREADY has a job often dials-down his standards — what the heck, why break my neck; and the employer dialed-down the performance standard. The result, as Trump put it, is a S-hole country. A study ranking countries for competence of medical staff ranked the U.S. number 27. Japan was number one; there is no affirmative action in Japan.

That’s the dumb, vaguely sociopathic, conservative analysis that I knew at least one person would give. You would have to be a psychologically aberrant to distribute the boxes like the left hand side and not the right or some other way where everyone could see. There is no downside to giving up the box and considerable upside for the person it’s given to.
Does that apply to many other situations? No. But that’s the only sensible analysis for this situation.
Your comment is just a reflexive boilerplate defense of inequality as an inherent good that only needs the most tenuous justification (“he needs the box to sit on”). It completely misses the point and goes a long way towards explaining the ridiculous economic distribution we have.

And look at the toys: a paper airplane and a pile of building blocks lying like so much rubble. Also, Bush was reading a children’s book to a bunch of pupils at an elementary school when he was told of the attacks on 9/11.
Consider what most likely went on, to my mind, the controlled demolition of WTC 1, 2 and 7 (1 and 2 with effort spent to make sure they exploded in a way that could look like it was the result of an airplane crash, but WTC7 looking just like a standard demolition), which involved planning and operations by high levels of the US government, as well as the dancing Israelis representing cooperation on that front too. Why? To get a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For art to work, someone has to understand what is being conveyed, which is why there are paper planes and building blocks involved. It is figurative, not literal. Bush as a naughty schoolboy who knew what went down on 9/11, gave the go-ahead to the plan that was conceived of by his handlers, but is just a puppet in the scheme of things.Replies: @Art Deco

You want to distribute the crate the adult brought to the game, but you didn’t say why you had the right to take the box away from its owner and give it to the child. That’s what distribute means in today’s political discourse, namely to steal from whites and give to blacks. Because Emmett Till.

Best of luck, and keep fighting for your family — and your extended family!
Every day the world’s aggregate payment-card issuers incur about $15 million in actual transaction-processing costs, for which they claim to impose and collect a “small transaction charge to the merchant to cover the costs of processing the transaction.”
Worldwide, these “small transaction charges” total the USD-equivalent of about $2 billion per day – or about 150-times actual costs – or a 15,000% mark-up. The total rake-off is about $1 trillion ($1,000,000,000,000) roughly every 18 months.
$2 billion per day is also the combined / gross income of the world’s poorest one billion people.
There is a word for that – and it is not equity.
For the record:
Equity is to fact, as law is to fiction.
We used to have a binary court system where the facts of a given action were first determined by a separate Court of Equity or Court of Fact. If those facts proved sufficient to support a legal action, then they would be handed over to a Court of Law for a legal determination.
That all changed in the 1870’s when the Courts of Fact were merged with the Courts of Law, and with administration of both put under the Courts of Law. That was the beginning of the end of western civilization – no sane society would ever allow the same judge to determine both the facts and the law, and the result-in-fact proves it.
Equity is to virtue, as Law is to coercion. To do equity means to do what is right according to conscience. Law means to take what someone else produces by force or coercion.
Steve, the Twitter link you posted has already been memoryholed. You should use screenshots and/or archive.is links from now on.
I never understood why Albert Collins wasn’t at least as famous as B. B. King. I saw them both several times, and AC was better.
I think the point of ‘equity’ is to blame someone for the child (dwarf?) being to small, and have them personally hold the child up.
Buried the lede AGAIN!
You got confused because the figures in the cartoon appear to be black.
You always get confused when anything appears to be black.
But the real lede, the symbolism, does not concern Negritude.
It concerns wealth. The tall guy represents the rich, who deserve no help. The middle girl represents the middle class, who deserve some help. And the little guy is the poor, who deserve a lot of help.
I gotta explain everything to you. Here, I’ll help you some more:
“Equality” means our owners, the multimultibillionaires, can freely continue to own us and boot-in-the-face us–as long as their membership includes 13% black, 50% females, the appropriate percentage of handicapped, LQBTXYZ and Hispanic, and so on.
“Equity” means we take all the money away from the rich, publicly shame them and jail them, and give it to the rest of us serfs, regardless of race, creed, or color. Read Adolph Reed, Jr. But watch out. He uses big words.
Playing on the field (which is what life really is) requires effort, competency, and merit.
The poster doesn't call attention to the fact that equity means the best players no longer play. In other words - incompetent doctors, incompetent pilots, incompetent janitors, etc.Replies: @obwandiyag
Wrong. You pull-yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps idiots always get it wrong. I hope you get sick and old and lose all your money and get evicted. You’ll change your dumbass tune.
Newsflash: You CAN’T pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. Ever. It is impossible.
If watching the baseball game is analogous to a universal right (like breathing oxygen), then the poster makes sense. But if it is analogous to something that requires talent and/or effort (like being a brain surgeon), then it doesn’t male a lick of sense.
AD, and no more swimming pools or ice rinks. And for the sake of equity all short White kids get to play backetball on stilts.

Philosopher Michael Levin’s Why Race Matters is the best thing I’ve read on all this crap, and it’s from the late 1990s. It’s a really smart guy unquintingly looking at all this race stuff, including all the academic literature from the 1960s to the 1990s, and taking it seriously, and then ripping it apart. The equity-equality stuff was all there 40 years ago in academia. Levin is completely fearless.
The true global elite would of course impose “equity” on the whole rabble by simply doubling the height of the fence. Or the cost of sturdy boxes. Or housing, education, rents, healthcare etc.
A gated baseball community.
India, Pakistan and even wretched Afghanistan seem to be in dire need of a protracted Communist enema. I wonder if the subcontinent’s rowdy neighbour over east will up its subversion efforts? India in particular seems ripe for the plucking.
A “nation” where millions live brutal lives fundamentally indistinguishable from those of early neolithic peasants being shamelessly lorded over by visibly and genetically more White descendants of conquistadors is right up the Woke-istas street too.
And these long-separated Brahmin part-relatives of White Europeans (who went left on the map, whereas those guys went right, at slightly different times) have the effrontery, the unmitigated gall to defame Witeys as racists, colonialists and general all-round grinders of the faces of the poor.
At least I don’t force the local chavs to shovel out my cesspit, or make their wives and daughters toil all day in brickfields in the broiling sun. We have machines for all that, as well as plumbing and drainage.
Since these propaganda posters seemed to be aimed solely at blacks (Blacks!) they should have used a more black-popular sport for their metaphor than baseball. Blacks don’t watch that.
How about basketball?
Show a team (all black) where the tallest guy plays on his knees (padded of course), the second tallest has one arm tied behind his back, and the shortest one plays normally. Standing side-by-side.
Slogan: ‘Equity- Fair for All!’
Isn’t that how they play it in the ‘hood’?

We have Hollywood that does top notch leftist propaganda. How did anyone think this was the poster to go with given that resource?
Not enough

And not just any old piles of rubble, Mr Guy and Mr A. Two separate piles, twin piles, and two planes. With Dubya shown grinning and preparing to launch. The insinuation is crude and obvious.
I would need to see a proper record of these inexpert (16-y-o highschooler art-class style) daubings in situ while Jeffa was as yet unentangled in toiletpaper.
To me, it looks like somebody found this stuff on deviantart and decided to have a little trololol with ’em.
If the short kid was white it would imply that sometimes whites can be the beneficiaries of ‘equity’ programmes, which would be sending out the wrong message.
On the other hand if the tall kid was white it would imply that whites were in a position of natural superiority, which would also be problematic.
I think the exposing the big lie is what caused GDC to become unhinged.
Possibly not a child. Many Central Americans are remarkably ‘compact’. What, in cruel and unenlightened times (such as the ’70s) we referred to as “midgets”.
Careful you don’t get a strike against your name for Altitudinal Bigotry, or Staturism, or whatever devilish new crime they may have thought up.

Funny, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I think they show no real artistic talent, are lacking in any kind of subtlety, and grotesque.

Evidently, the original cartoon had white people. This was, of course, quickly rectified…

As I’m sure many have noted, this was literally Winston’s job description in Orwell’s “1984”: Editing old newspapers to remove information considered politically problematic in the present.
This equity vs equality stuff is really about which policies? Are they taking about education?

One plane is still in the air when there are already two piles of rubble. That’s what makes me think it’s not necessarily meant to be 9/11 and is maybe meant to be one of his wars.
To me, this is effective and good art, actually. If it were better there might be more elements to understand. I am not sure what the items on the desk represent. Note that Bush is in front of the desk, he's like a kid in the boss's office. Someone else occupies the driver's seat, but is unseen. I think that may be another part of the cryptic message.
Most people have no critical thinking skills and see the world purely through basic emotions. “Kid can’t see game, that’s bad!” “Now he can see it, that’s good!”
Your observation about finite resources is spot on; in the real world, there’s only so many boxes lying around. If everyone is put at the same height then what will happen is that either no one will see the game or you’ll have to stand on your tipie toes to catch a glimpse every few seconds. Kind of like how white middle class families trying to have a life similar to the one they were raised in are getting squeezed by taxes, the necessity of white flight to protect their kids, affirmative action in the workplace, etc. The safety and stability of a middle class life now requires you to be on your tippie toes financially, in terms of career choies, leisure options, future planning, etc.

But Brahmins have millennia worth of experience in managing inequitable societies. They’ll be ahead of the curve as the USA sinks into a caste ridden, third world society.

That is a hot take. I like the way you think.
Let’s see that pratt come up with a snarky rebuttal.
LET THE DWARF WATCH THE GAME
EVERY DWARF SHOULD GET A BOX SEAT AND FULL SIZED WHITE WOMAN
EQUITY
This fixation on ‘equality’ vs. ‘equity’ is a fool’s errand and we should steer clear of it. The notion that matters is fairness. And Aristotle’s definition works as well as any: ‘treating like cases alike’.
This yields the right answer in the dumb poster and shuts up the idiot crowd. The cases aren’t alike because of the heights of the individuals, so giving each the same is just stupid. No one with a brain would think it was an example of anything proper. This kind of equality is a straw man if ever there was one.
Here, I'll help you some more:
"Equality" means our owners, the multimultibillionaires, can freely continue to own us and boot-in-the-face us--as long as their membership includes 13% black, 50% females, the appropriate percentage of handicapped, LQBTXYZ and Hispanic, and so on.
"Equity" means we take all the money away from the rich, publicly shame them and jail them, and give it to the rest of us serfs, regardless of race, creed, or color. Read Adolph Reed, Jr. But watch out. He uses big words.Replies: @John Johnson

What planet are you on? The American left will fight for transgender bathroom rights well before they tax the rich. Most of the American 1% now lean Democrat and probably get liberal fuzzies over that dumb cartoon.
Oh but Biden might bump up the top bracket by a couple percentage points. (Slow clap)
Watch as Biden doesn’t bring up low capital gains rates for billionaires. He doesn’t have the balls. He also won’t touch the trust fund scams that Democrats like the Clintons use.
The US left is a total joke. They’ll ban urinals before they tax the rich. They already did that in Portland. The left there removed urinals in government buildings cause penis or something.
What an f-ning joke of an ideology. No plan to deal with what are toxic levels of inequality. Oh but we drew this little cartoon to express our child like emotional take on this complex subject.
Wow….You’re like retarded Corvinus.
What’s that in the middle kid’s left hand in the ‘equity’ pic?
Switchblade? A Glock, with magazine in right hand?
Why is the man in the ‘equality’ pic standing on a box? It looks uncomfortable. I think it posed.
Why is the man holding up his arm in the ‘equity’ pic? The pitcher is winding up for a pitch. And the little kid is holding up both arms as the pitcher winds up. Has our artist never seen a baseball game?
K. The man is Tommie Smith. Middle kid is Rhyheim Barton. Name of little kid withheld due to his age.

Maybe terribly racist for me to say this, but many Hispanic children have a weirdly dwarfish appearance.
To me it is pretty obvious that the dual piles of blocks represent the twin towers, combined with the paper planes. Bush looks every inch the naughty boy who knew exactly what he was doing (look what I’ve done and gotten away with!). It puts the airplanes in his hands. But in the end he is only a schoolboy in a suit in the oval office.
Bush as a naughty schoolboy who knew what went down on 9/11, gave the go-ahead to the plan that was conceived of by his handlers, but is just a puppet in the scheme of things.
Yeah, Larry Silverstein blew up his own buildings for the insurance payout, making use of invisible and inaudible men to set all the charges.
Few artists these days seem to know how to layer opaque over translucent colors so as to avoid that chalky look. They’ll also typically use pure white as a highlight. Relatedly, they normally have no qualms about using saturated colors straight from the tube. I guess that nobody really teaches how to paint anymore.
You could be right, although the controlled demolition aspect means that the planes are just theater (in my view). Bush’s hand on the aircraft represents that he is in apparent control although the blocks are already demolished. So what is really happening? It may be a way to indicate that the airplanes weren’t the causal factor in the destruction of the WTC buildings.
To me, this is effective and good art, actually. If it were better there might be more elements to understand. I am not sure what the items on the desk represent. Note that Bush is in front of the desk, he’s like a kid in the boss’s office. Someone else occupies the driver’s seat, but is unseen. I think that may be another part of the cryptic message.
But?
That’s exactly why they’ve been imported in such numbers.
Which part of theology does God apply to? Equity is their overall guiding Great Motive informing everything in every policy. It will be appealled to as often as a well-born highly educated Bolshevik invokes “the masses.”
Try telling that to the young girl who lost her college admission thanks to the NYT trolling her.
Aw, the little guy isn’t able to see over the fence without the extra box, just like American blacks aren’t able to compete with whites and Asians without racial preferences. I get it now! This poster clarifies everything for me!
His sweatshirt says “equality” but the mob chose “equity”!!

Presumably the original author of the Procrustes story had run into some ancient Greek equivalent of SJWs.
I’d like to see a variation of the equity illustration where the black Gary Coleman midget character is standing on two apple crates performing brain surgery, a Hispanic character is operating the anesthesia while standing on one crate, and the full size Jewish surgeon type is in charge of sponges.
And your reason?
It alleged that when an official poverty line was first established, they now had a goal to raise certain people above that line. When it was thought they might actually succeed, they simply raised the bar. So drawing from that, after seeing the poster with “equity” they will set about to install a taller fence.

Notice:
Robbers are needlessly stomping on his head. What is the liberal excuse if these crimes are purely economic?
Random Blacks join in on the assault and surround him like hyenas. In these situations Blacks will yell out stuff like “he called me a nigga” or “he hit a woman” to rile up the crowd.
They strip his pants and underwear to humiliate him. We only see Blacks doing this.
In a rural White areas you would be considered gay if you were trying to take a man’s pants off.
Are whites to be blamed for inventing these sports in the first place? Or are sports officially considered a good thing?
They are only good if Whites don’t dominate them.
Ironically the left probably hates lacrosse the most but it was actually invented by American Indians.
Why do they hate lacrosse? It is not only heavily White but has a very un-pc culture and is used for networking.
