Why is the Time cover portrait of the much celebrated “Facebook whistleblower” so disturbing-looking?

As far as I can tell from cursory research, she’s not an ex-man.

So what is going on with her and/or Time?

She doesn’t look human but something made of plastic Even the hair, common ordinary style looks like thin strands of plastic. Not even a wig.

  2. Some girls, unfortunately for them, look more like dad or grandpa than mom or grandma.

  3. She has a very masculine head and jaw, but a normal female body –– you can see it here even with the padded shoulderpad suit jacket.

Time have photographed her giving the impression that her body/build matches her head & face, ie giving the impression she looks like a man.

  4. anon[191] • Disclaimer says:

It’s the lighting. She looks like a Midwestern German/Scandinavian girl whose dad/brothers were huge linemen and linebackers.

  5. Nordic women often look scary. It’s why they’re called “squareheads”.

Jeez, guys, look up from her tits sometime!

From the Time interview, she says she was a debate champ in high school, a debate coach in college, and her mother is an Episcopalian priest.

That explains a lot. She has some very dopey opinions about Facebook, but she is very good and making them sound convincing, and acting as if she has the moral high ground.

The transsexual craze has been especially unfortunate for ordinary, but somewhat mannish-looking women. Now, compared to a decade ago, instead of simply not being femininely pleasing to the eye, they draw scrutiny that maybe they are weirdo men.

  22. It’s actually psychological.

The Time magazine hacks, woke Marxists all, think that this is how you best portray a “career girl fighting the evils of the system.” Not a hint of attractiveness, not a hint of sex, just a square-jawed ugly bulldozing her way through life, non-smiling the whole time.

Feminazis will say she looks “strong” and “powerful” and “stunning and brave” and wonder why she isn’t a movie star.

  25. There are other, more flattering pictures out there. This one, for instance:

A good photograph is entirely a function of cosmetology, camera angle, and lighting. You can’t take any girl off the street and turn her into Cindy Crawford, but you can take any normal person and, with the right makeover and the right photographer, make them look several times more attractive than they ordinarily do.

The reverse is also the case. Everybody knows this, so there’s no need to get all opinionated about the cover photo and act as if something cosmic is being revealed.

  27. Lots of women look like that now. Mindset and personality affect appearance and alter the face.
With women looking like this it’s no wonder screwed up men think they can pass for female.
Worst of it being that a trans MfF who is not fat is more feminine, at a distance, than the average woman.
Western women look remarkabley like women of Weimar Germany. Pure cohencidence though.

You are right. There are plenty of square-jawed women of Northern European extraction. The photograph artificially coarsens her skin, thus destroying what attractiveness she might possess. A natural blonde with her features and a delicate, rosy complexion ought to be, well, maybe not “pretty,” but good looking, especially if leggy and shapely.

If you’ve ever done photography, it’s very easy to make someone look terrible. You just don’t bother to take the time to make them look good. Check out the lighting of the photo. There’s just one lamp set up to give light from one side. A professional photographer will have enough lamps that they could easily light up both sides of your face. The sinister lighting is a deliberate hit job.

The editor, writer, and photographer are all just sniveling shits going, “Waaah! My Facebook! You can’t do that to my precious Facebook!” The news industry thrives on publicity, which Facebook provides. That’s why they hate this whistleblower.

They got their orders from Democratic pols to focus on Zuck being like a scumbag, because the pols don’t want Zuck running for office again. They never dreamed a non-pol like Zuck would have a chance of getting elected until Trump did, and that’s made the Dems determined to kneecap Zuck permanently.

  48. “They” are constantly love-festing on whistle-blowers nowadays. Take a look at the false narrative and cover-up currently perpetuated by the players in the Theranos scandal.

The current Holmes’ trial has Rupert Murdoch as a major investor in her mirage technology and we’re told to believe he approved the writing of the expose about being fooled by a fembotted, Zuckerberg look-alike with government spy parents – one from Enron – by a weirdly-named journalist called Carreyrou. Take a look how that was also celebrated in media.

I got 1/3 of the way into his book, “Bad Blood” and realized it was all going to be based on fiction and that I was supposed to take the word of something named, “Ana Arreola” and not notice it’s an ugly guy in drag.

Never judge someone by a single photo — always go to Google Images or some similar databank before making a judgment. People’s looks are remarkably fluid along with whatever the photog and the production do to them that particular day

  52. @Redneck farmer

also there are simply more masculine male and females and less masculine males and females. Being more masculine is always better for sons. Being less masculine is good – to a certain degree – for females. So there I think there is a continuing tug of war in human evolution: there is is constant selection for more masculine traits and less masculine traits. All in all a balance is hold this way, though the balance is different for different ethnic groups. Very masculine looking women often have brothers who are highly successful on the partner market.

  53. prosa123 says:

If you look at any videos of Haugen there’s nothing at all masculine-seeming about her. I’d say that Time deliberately chose/modified her photo to make her look like some looming ferocious presence.

  57. She’s not ugly. A new “do” would be in order, though. If a woman has a squarish face, why “frame” it to look more so?

  58. @D. K.

There’s a good example of the type of girl who looks “hot” in high school, and fat at forty; earlier if she has a couple of kids. No muscle tone in those arms but with hooters like that, what teenage boy is looking there? I’m guessing this is a young Ann Margaret; she had incentive to keep her weight under control during her adult show-biz career, but the majorette [girls like this aren’t athletic enough to make the cheerleading squad especially with the current emphasis on stunts – cheerleading is now a competitive “sport” of its own] who marries Mr. Jock out of high school and drops a couple of kids by 24 clearly doesn’t. I recall the big-titted baton twirler everyone dreamed of banging in HS; a Jew named Julie. At the 25th reunion she was a complete cow.

Also, isn’t there some evidence that, on average, low T men and high T women have higher IQs? The theory being that the brain had to evolve for both hormone profiles, so it works best in between. Certainly explains the stereotype of sexual dimorphism (or lack thereof) among top scientists et al.

When you compare the left side of her face to the right side, they are very symmetrical. Quite often the good looking people have a mirror image left and right side of their face. But her right side which is in the shadows has some funny scarring on it, sort of looks like she might have fallen off a pushbike or something. The untouched hi-def photos from her time at the hearings really show some scars on the right side. I’m sure there’s a beauty under her right eye brow as well. Unless I’m just seeing things, so I might be wrong. But she is a bit of a chameleon as she looks different in every second photo.

  82. @Alden

Probably because what she represents is so evil. The internet figured her out within a day or two. She was this supposed opponent of Facebook when she was really a female trojan horse (she’s a horse) for modifying section 230 in their favor. A ‘whistleblower’ who had previously worked for billionaire Perre Omidyar and was invited by Nancy Pelosi to a Congressional hearing two days after coming out was no more convincing than Alexander Vindeman was. Puerto Rico is known for some skilled plastic surgery clinics and surgeons, and would be a great place to recover without the obligations and attention of those who know her.

If she is going to make a change (of any kind) would anybody be surprised if she did it now? She’s going to be surrounded by wealthy ex-patriates in P.R. and wouldn’t have to be a public figure again. And nobody is going to come looking for her.

The Minnesota-based hosts were also very sensitive to the presence of big blondes. There’s “Babs” in Horror of Spider Island (another spider movie!) who’s given a deep voice by the studio mockers (not in the film’s dubbing), dubbed to ask if she can play wide receiver, and that “I’m from Minnesota, our governor’s is a huge bald Nazi” (those were the days!).

There’s a similar big blonde in a one piece bathing suit dancing at the runway party at the end of The Skydivers. When she reappears it’s “Hey, the big one’s back!” and Crow seems to have developed a crush on her.

  93. @San Fernando Curt

She was picked to be the ‘whistleblower’ and everything about her is fake. An actress hired to pay the part. This bit about Facebook selling psychological crack to young girls was the exact bait needed to push every button they could. Gee if you just modify section 230 a little bit to help it suppress potential competitors you can save these little girls. This woman is Satan.

  94. She’s a biological female. You can see from images on the web. For example, her finger ratio is correct, and they show images of her head in profile. If she were a tranny, you could go through a thousand images and never see a head profile. They avoid showing you profiles of trannies because the jaw line and forehead are so indicative. Also her shoulders aren’t that broad. She’s just a big girl, nothing deceptive going on.
The half darkness facelighting is used to symbolize craziness in movies. Everybody recognizes it as photographer fake drama.

  95. @Known Fact

This is why “celebrities” are so paranoid about photographers. One needn’t be a total fake to realize random photographs can be not good. Cher, for instance, before all the famous surgeries, had a crooked set of front upper teeth that, imperfect but OK in normal light, if the light was “right”, created a shadow that made it look as if she had a missing front tooth.

Ann-Margret and her mother joined her father in the United States in November 1946, and her father took her to Radio City Music Hall on the day they arrived. They settled in Wilmette, Illinois, outside of Chicago. She became a naturalized American citizen in 1949.[citation needed]

  100. It’s unflattering lighting, and poorly done makeup that doesn’t dull the shine.

As mentioned she looks to be from Nordic stock.

Time wants you to dislike her and/or think that she’s crazy.

Facebook is doing doubleplus Good, right?

Yeah, I notice I’ve started to become sensitive to this too. These days when I see a mannish-looking woman I reflexively start searching for clues to try to tell if it’s a she or a he.

As if women didn’t have enough reasons to obsess over their looks. Yeesh.

    Wiki :

    “Ann-Margret has no children…”

Music/film/TV = demographic sink for pretty women.

I would imagine that straight men in those fields would have more than the average number of children, though the higher than average percentage of homosexuals might counter that.

Actually, it’s the other way around. The fact that the same rough genome is compatible with radically sexually dimorphic phenotypes which each must survive but do so according to very different modalities, all within the same species, is evidence that: A) There is no one-to-one correspondence between genotype and phenotype (meaning that today’s biomolecular genetic studies are largely pseudoscience); and B) Darwinian evolution by natural selection does not occur.

The metamorphosis undergone by insects, amphibians, and other simple creatures is another example in the same vein.

So, too, is artificial selection, i.e. breeding. The fact that plants an animals can be artificially constrained to produce quite extreme variations, which are from their point of view useless, is evidence of the large amount of plasticity that exists within the form, that can be educed from it without significant changes to the genome.

True, it’s up to the photographer. But why would a photographer want to make someone look less attractive? What’s the direction he’s been given? I can’t believe they didn’t know what they were doing.

I’m guessing they’re trying to extend the “whistleblower” metaphor by making her look more like a stereotypical female gym teacher. The teal background, reminiscent of chalkboards and collegiate gameday bunting, reinforces the motif. They stopped just short of putting her in a zebra shirt.

Remember, these people aren’t all that deep.

How to explain modern Slavs? Somehow, the lumpy/prognathic traits all know to go to the men, while the delicate/gracile traits all go the women. Even in the same family.

Supposedly, the Y-chromosome doesn’t have much on it besides the sex. And mtDNA supposedly has no phenotype information at all. Yet certain populations have great sexual dimorphism…

Eventually you have a uniformly homely population of Berkeley-douche-like skanks reproducing with depressed beta-males producing the white faction of the Democrat party.

Great line. I’m gonna steal that.

And maybe there is some non-genetic X-factor that is at work distinguishing between males and females in Slavs and others, which factor no longer bothers to do so on behalf of Americans anymore. A century ago, this X-factor might have been called “God’s grace”.

She also has Celiac disease, messing with her digestive system and ability to eat-and-process nourishment that might make her appearance less Herman Munsterish.

Not necessarily: sex symbol Jayne Mansfield had five children, and Twentieth Century-Fox leading lady Jeanne Crain had seven!

Soph is on BitChute and Twitter and has gone kind of nuts.

She peaked too early, like Nathalia Crane a century ago.

Mare Winningham had five, though one took his own life– another demographic sink.

    “Ann-Margret has no children…”

I would imagine that straight men in those fields…

At the wrap party for Bye, Bye Birdie, a string of men involved stood up to praise the star profusely. When it was Paul Lynde’s turn, he says, “Well, I guess I’m the only one here who doesn’t want to 🍆 Ann-Margret!”

Because Eastern and Southern European women are better looking. Or mixes of Northern and Southern, like French women or Northern and Eastern, like Polish women. For instance, British women are some of the ugliest women on the planet. On the other hand, Dutch, Northern German and Scandinavian women are quite plain in general. Finnish women are fine, but they’re not Scandinavian technically, in the geographical sense.

The question is – why do these women look like men?

Same reason the men look like women.
Vast, lifelong overfeeding, and chronic underworking. Plus central heating and antibiotics.

Also, what would our middle-aged 19th century ancestors look like if they had access to modern dentistry?
