From today’s White House press briefing:

Q Hi, Jen. Taylor Popielarz with Spectrum News. Three quick —

MS. PSAKI: Hi, Taylor.

Q — questions, so I’ll make them quick. First, has the President been briefed on 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant being shot and killed by police in Columbus, Ohio, yesterday? It happened moments before the Chauvin verdict came out.

MS. PSAKI: Yes. I should say — yes. And let me — let me just say, since you gave me the opportunity, the killing of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant by the Columbus Police is tragic. She was a child. We’re thinking of her friends and family and the communities that are hurting and grieving her loss.

We know that police violence disproportionately impacts Black and Latino people in communities, and that Black women and girls, like Black men and boys, experience higher rates of police violence. We also know that there are particular vulnerabilities that children in foster care — care, like Ma’Khia, face. And her death came, as you noted, just as America was hopeful of a step forward after the traumatic and exhausting trial of Derek Chauvin and the verdict that was reached.

So our focus is on working to address systemic racism and implici- — implicit bias head on and, of course, to passing laws and legislation that will put much-needed reforms into place at police departments around the country.

Q And has the President been briefed on it?

MS. PSAKI: Yes.

In reality, as I pointed out yesterday, the heroic cop should be given a parade.

He saved the life of one, possibly two black girls during this chaotic incident with his superb shooting.

The officer stopped the knife attacker with just inches to spare from impaling the girl in pink.

Meanwhile, the King of the NBA, LeBron James piles on the white cop for acting like he really believes Black Lives Matter:

Then James took the tweet down.

But says he only did for tactical reasons:

Here’s a tweet from Barack Obama’s consigliere:

It’s not a “knife fight” when the would-be murderer is armed with a big knife and the would-be victim is armed only with a small puppy.

By the way, the city of Columbus did a great job yesterday of hustling the police shooter’s body cam footage out within about 7 hours of the shooting. If they hadn’t gotten the footage of the officer’s spectacular display of grace under pressure out by 10:30 pm (EDT) Tuesday night, the MSM would be in an absolute paroxysm of racist hate today. As it is, they will probably wind up memoryholing the incident. But if the body cam footage wasn’t released until today, too many Big Names would have committed themselves on this incident via their racial bigotry to walk it back.

Here’s today’s follow-up press conference with body cam videos from the other other officers on the scene:

Columbus’ interim police chief appears excellent, but apparently he has little chance of getting the job full time, probably due to the perceived need to hire a black lesbian or whatever.

The funniest reaction to this death so far is a tweet which demands to presuppose that knife fights are tolerated (and even hidden!) in wealthy private schools.

It’s all particular. As identity politics always is.

  6. Disgusting and clearly scripted out in advance.

Police are caught in a bind — being thrown under the bus as a proxy for middle-class male whites in general, while also being employed to safeguard elite property and interests.

In Columbus the night before Ms Bryant’s death, two 15 y.o. boys shot each other, one wounded, one dead.

In Cincinnati, a 13 y.o girl used a knife to murder another 13 y.o girl, black.

In NYC, a black woman ran up behind a 52 y.o. woman with a black name and shot her in the back of the head, killing her. She later turned herself in.

So what’s the problem here, Ms Psaki, Mr. President?

Some people deal with problems differently, have a different set of rules for resolving conflict. White people shouldn’t impose white people solutions. Can we have separate countries now?

Some of the bad-faith actors commenting in the media are making a case that a knife attack is qualitatively different than a gun assault, and it is, but only to an extent. They extent being, that a bullet can be fired from a distance and that there is more kinetic energy released at the point of impact of a shot bullet. But the knife thrust doesn’t need much kinetic impact to do its deadly work. One thrust and an assailant can cleanly open up a major artery in the torso and it’s all over. The poor victim will likely bleed out before they ambulance can get her to the emergency room.

It would be helpful if emergency room MDs and emergency service personnel could weigh in on this one to counter the pernicious narrative. They could relate quite a few anecdotes from their own experience where a simple knife wound (“not that bad, he’ll be out by morning…”) ended up with the victim on the mortuary slab.

My question: is LeBron in on the grand scheme of things, willingly helping the formation of this new regime? Or does he actually believe the nonsensical BS he’s spewing?

I happened to pause in channel surfing and caught chris cuomo arguing that there should have been another way to avoid shooting this 15 year old girl. chris is probably unaware that non lethal options are being taken away from the police. The demands from “the community” in this case are extortionate, not rational and not really principled in any way. Forget even about the Ferguson effect’s thousands of extra black deaths this whole thing has the potential for some serious anti-black backlash.

If a black shoots a black, let the victim bleed out. Don’t send an ambulance. It’s time blacks were taught not to take white policing and emergency services for granted. Blacks are growing way too obnoxious. They need Whites far more than we need them. It’s time to teach blacks a lesson.

Besides, blacks are expensive to police. If we stopped giving blacks police protection and access to emergency services, all those overextended cities would save a bundle. At the very least, it’s time to start rationing police services to ‘high demand’ ghetto areas.

White cops just have to learn all about the neighborhoods they patrol. If it is black either don’t take the call or pretend your car is giving you problems and slow walk things until the chimp-out is over. They need to get more aware white dispatchers who can give coded hints to the cops on the beat so they know not to take the call.

Eventually there will be a “study” about white cops refusing to enforce the laws in black communities. We can all get a good laugh when it comes out and “racism” is blamed.

It is very wrong and very stupid for Biden or people in his administration to chime in immediately on cases. What may seem “obvious” at the start often turns out to be wrong. Plus such commentary can end up prejudicing the public and juries down the road.

It certainly isn’t fair to comment on the cops if you don’t comment on the criminals when cops aren’t involved. Is Biden going to start telling the people who shoot people over drugs or to assert control over gang territory or over being disrespected to stop? We have never had our presidents do that before.

If not, let the local cases be dealt with locally.

  76. SafeNow says:

There is a “knife culture” that is more prevalent and explosive and vicious than many people realize. Police have to be eyes-on vigilant about this. In can even be a screwdriver. In fact, everyone should be aware of this obsession. I don’t know if it comes from the movies and tv, or it’s in the DNA from millennia past. For some people it’s interest rates; for others it’s knives; go figure.

  77. @Known Fact

Police are caught in a bind — being thrown under the bus as a proxy for middle-class male whites in general, while also being employed to safeguard elite property and interests.

It’s worse than that for urban cops.

We’re seeing more manifestations of the great Subsitute Savior narrative being played out these days. That is, the Woke, in their pride, elevate themselves to the role of saviors of the oppressed. Their ‘advocacy’ and virtue signalling on behalf of ‘victims’ assauge their own guilt and ennui, and puff up their already-inflated self image as wise, benevolent ‘controllers’ of human nature and history.

But the Woke will never get their hands dirty dealing with situations like this chaotic Columbus fracas. They outsource to the cops.

The burdens placed on cops by their Woke employers increasingly distort the image and expectations of policing and police. No longer are cops simply called on to maintain law and order; they are now tasked with hands-on Substitute Savioring.

These absurd new expectations are easy to identify in situations like the Chauvin case, and this Columbus shooting. The cops are expected to act as Good Shepherds who both care for the helpless sheep they encounter (i.e. the black ‘victims’ of an irredemably racist white supremecist system), but also to lay down their lives as a sacrifice if the situation calls for it.

If the cops are called to deal with ongoing, potentially lethal black-on-black violence, then they must ‘de-escalate’ it, i.e. somehow preventing the blacks involved from harming each other, while engaging in absolutely no harmful violence themselves.

And if cops encounter potential violence aimed at themselves, increasingly they’re expected to absorb it without retaliation. If someone must pay this necessary sacrifice, then let it be a prolish white cop.

Which is why Keith Ellison refused to release the cop camera footage for months despite knowing Chauvin did not put his knee on Floyd’s neck. But the Queen filming from 15 feet away made it look like he did. If all the camera data had been released within 24 hours Chauvin could never have been absurdly charged with murder.

It would be helpful if emergency room MDs and emergency service personnel could weigh in on this one to counter the pernicious narrative.

I am neither, but I can weigh in. Wounds from bladed weapons are be quite horrific.

What some people don’t seem to realize is that handgun bullets are generally quite puny. I don’t want to be shot with one, but their small size and relatively low velocity create small wound channels (even with “mushrooming” of hollow points). Unless an artery were severed or a major organ were hit and damaged badly, survivability with handgun wounds is quite high provided there is immediate medical care (and indeed, in the U.S., most of those hit with handgun bullets do survive).

Long guns are a different story – they deliver a lot of lead and/or with lots of velocity, so the energy delivered is enormously greater and survivability is much lower when shot with a centerfire rifle bullet or shotgun buckshot/slug, compared to even the largest calibers of handguns.

Bladed weapons can create very large wound channels (though usually shallow), much greater than those created by handgun bullets. The major limitation of bladed weapons is range, not damage. In close quarters, it can be deadlier than handguns (even non-plate, “soft” body armor is more permeable to bladed weapons than to handguns). Note also that stabbing attacks rarely end with one stab, but with rapid, multiple puncturing attacks. Indeed, small bladed weapons are often considered not so much self-defense weapons, but as weapons of assassinations. If you want to be queasy, search “knife wounds” online and see what emergency personnel deal with whenever a knife is involved in an attack.

Betrand Russell once said that most people would rather die than think and most people do.

Gaston Glock was almost killed in a murder plot by an associate.

He is the man behind the gun. You don’t mess with Gaston Glock. His most trusted associate tried. Lured into a dimly lit garage in Luxembourg by his colleague Charles Ewert, the Austrian Glock stopped to look at a sports car at Ewert’s suggestion. Suddenly, a massive masked man leaped from behind and smashed a rubber mallet into Glock’s skull. Ewert fled to the stairwell. “I am a coward,” he later told . With Glock off balance, the attacker landed another crushing blow. “I was fighting for my life,” recalls Glock, 73, during a rare interview with the press.

Springing up on legs toned by miles of daily swimming, Glock thrust his enormous fist into his assailant’s eye socket. As the would-be assassin staggered, Glock pounded again, knocking out a few of the man’s teeth. The bloodied attacker staggered, then collapsed on top of Glock “with his arms outstretched like Jesus,” according to John Paul Frising, Luxembourg’s deputy attorney general, who brought attempted murder charges against the attacker, the French-born Jacques (Spartacus) Pêcheur, 67. This was how the police found the two men at 9:30 a.m. on July 27, 1999.

Glock says he lost a liter of blood from cuts and abrasions and that he suffered seven head wounds. Yet as soon as he reached the hospital he summoned his personal bankers at UBS and Banque Ferrier Lullin. The banks held $70 million in cash, and Ewert had access to it all. By 12:30 p.m. Glock managed to move $40 million to a Swiss account. But by then Ewert had blocked the other $30 million with a court order. As he nursed his injuries, Glock wondered how he could have trusted the wrong man.

On Mar. 12 Ewert and Pêcheur were both found guilty of attempted murder following a three-week, nonjury trial in Luxembourg. Ewert received 20 years–the maximum punishment currently available. Pêcheur received 17 years for his role as the would-be assassin. The normally gregarious Ewert barely reacted at all, sitting motionless when the verdict was read. Pêcheur sighed and lowered his head. “It is a good day,” said a pleased Glock who himself is constitutionally disinclined toward emotional displays. Yet Glock added ominously, “It is one step in a war,” referring to future charges that may be brought against his former colleague and friend. Both Pêcheur and Ewert plan to appeal.

To appreciate the magnitude of this betrayal, consider that the relationship between the two men had been close and was a factor in the success of Glock GmbH. Ewert, a business consultant who once worked for the Luxembourg stock exchange, worked with Glock for 15 years as Glock’s little-known gun became the sidearm of choice for U.S. law enforcement.

A Black teenage girl named Ma’Khia Bryant was killed because a police officer immediately decided to shoot her multiple times in order to break up a knife fight. Demand accountability. Fight for justice. #BlackLivesMatter.

    — Valerie Jarrett (@ValerieJarrett) April 21, 2021

It’s not a “knife fight” when the would-be murderer is armed with a big knife and the would-be victim is armed only with a small puppy.

Blacks do this quite often. When a pack of 5 or 6 attack then stomp some random victim, they refer to it as a “fight”. No, it was an “attack”.

Jarrett, being part Negro, is afflicted with this inability to understand the differences between words. She uses “knife fight” when she means “stabbing”.

  152. Black people are especially kind and peaceful. White people should appeal to Black people’s natural serenity and simply apologize to them. If you see a Black person today, approach them gently and ask for their forgiveness.

  153. Psaki, “let’s circle back to that”, has never had an encounter with a feral teenager with a weapon.

The Dan Inosanto clip is from the larger film Surviving Edged Weapons that is still a useful vid, even though it’s over 30 years old. In particular there are segments clearly demonstrating why Dennis Tueller was and is right, as well as actual vid from a prison yard of prisoners practicing basic knife techniques on each other.

The vid is still resident on Internet Archive.

Just have a collection point at the edge of the hood where an armored dump truck comes around obce a week and collects that weeks casualties, similar to bulk pick up where they come around and collect old sofas, large items that don’t fit in bins, and tree limbs.

No one’s mentioned the many pretty white school teachers who said they were trained to take knives away from people without anyone getting hurt, and the cops should be able to do the same.

Yup. The Tueller Drill was revolutionary in that it pressure-tested and elucidated reality and broke a lot of myths and hearsays. Pressure-testing always demolishes a lot of ridiculous, but persistent myths in fighting (which the Gracies – as self-serving as they were – did with BJJ).

And things have changed for the better in the world of teaching knife-defense and -fighting. The days of comical knife defense techniques (catch the blade with two palms!) are over – there are even legit Kali experts in the LE/MIL communities now. And for that matter non-plate body armor is far more blade-resistant today than in the past.

If you haven’t seen them, check out the “Die Less Often” videos from Crafty Dog of the Dog Brothers.

There’s a poster on UNZ who confessed to getting fired for viewing UNZ on his work computer. I won’t mention his name but the threat is real, I wouldn’t be so cavalier about the hazards of wrongview websites at work. But then there’s the possibility that they wanted to get rid of him and used this as an excuse.

  169. @Grahamsno(G64)

I remember his comment – I don’t see why he’d mind us mentioning his Unz handle (started with O?) though, at this point – it’s NOT his real name, is the point.

It all depends on how far you want to push things, Graham. I push it on the mask wearing, or lack thereof, to the max. What I consider is that if nobody pushes back, we simply lose. If everyone pushes back, they can’t fire us all. It’s that simple, but the tough one question is who will stand out first – it takes some courage.

I don’t discount the idea that there are people that are under the microscope due to other reasons to get rid of them, and one false move …

I was quite liking Lenny’s tweet (long-time (in a previous lifetime) Phillies fan, until he had to go and “play it safe” and ruin it with: “Do you also blame the Jews for Kristallnacht?” Yuk, way to put store-brand icing on Mom’s homemade cake. I bet he threw it in for good measure after getting last-second frozen balls.

Eight or nine years ago, I entitled a ms. on the George Zimmerman case, “A License to Kill, a Duty to Die.” One of my editors plagiarized it for an essay he sold elsewhere, under one of his various pseudonyms. I only stumbled onto it years later.
