From the New York Times news section, a disheartening long article about one high school student wrecking another high school student’s life. My general policy is not to hurt children, so I’m deleting their surnames.

A Racial Slur, a Viral Video, and a Reckoning

A white high school student withdrew from her chosen college after a three-second video caused an uproar online. The classmate who shared it publicly has no regrets.

LEESBURG, Va. — Jimmy was in history class last school year when his phone buzzed with a message. Once he clicked on it, he found a three-second video of a white classmate looking into the camera and uttering an anti-Black racial slur.

That the white girl got from rap music.

The slur, he said, was regularly hurled in classrooms and hallways throughout his years in the Loudoun County school district. He had brought the issue up to teachers and administrators but, much to his anger and frustration, his complaints had gone nowhere.

So he held on to the video, which was sent to him by a friend, and made a decision that would ricochet across Leesburg, Va., a town named for an ancestor of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee and whose school system had fought an order to desegregate for more than a decade after the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling.

Which was about a half century before the white victim in this story was born.

“I wanted to get her where she would understand the severity of that word,” Jimmy, 18, whose mother is Black and father is white, said of the classmate who uttered the slur, Mimi. He tucked the video away, deciding to post it publicly when the time was right.

Mimi had originally sent the video, in which she looked into the camera and said, “I can drive,” followed by the slur, to a friend on Snapchat in 2016, when she was a freshman and had just gotten her learner’s permit.

She was a 15-year-old rap fan.

White people should not listen to rap. You are just asking for grief.

Anyway, rap is Boomer Music from the 1970s. The youngest Boomers, like Kamala Harris, were 15 when “Rapper’s Delight” was on AM Top 40 radio in 1979.

It later circulated among some students at Heritage High School, which she and Jimmy attended, but did not cause much of a stir.

Jimmy had not seen the video before receiving it last school year, when he and Mimi were seniors. By then, she was a varsity cheer captain who dreamed of attending the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, whose cheer team was the reigning national champion. When she made the team in May, her parents celebrated with a cake and orange balloons, the university’s official color.

The next month, as protests were sweeping the nation after the police killing of George Floyd, Mimi in a public Instagram post, urged people to “protest, donate, sign a petition, rally, do something” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

“You have the audacity to post this, after saying the N-word,” responded someone whom Mimi said she did not know.

Her alarm at the stranger’s comment turned to panic as friends began calling, directing her to the source of a brewing social media furor. Jimmy, who had waited until Mimi had chosen a college, had publicly posted the video that afternoon. Within hours, it had been shared to Snapchat, TikTok and Twitter, where furious calls mounted for the University of Tennessee to revoke its admission offer.

By that June evening, about a week after Mr. Floyd’s killing, teenagers across the country had begun leveraging social media to call out their peers for racist behavior. Some students set up anonymous pages on Instagram devoted to holding classmates accountable, including in Loudoun County.

The consequences were swift. Over the next two days, Mimi was removed from the university’s cheer team. She then withdrew from the school under pressure from admissions officials, who told her they had received hundreds of emails and phone calls from outraged alumni, students and the public.

“They’re angry, and they want to see some action,” an admissions official told Mimi and her family, according to a recording of the emotional call reviewed by The New York Times.

Mimi was among many incoming freshmen across the country whose admissions offers were revoked by at least a dozen universities after videos emerged on social media of them using racist language.

In one sense, the public shaming of Mimi underscores the power of social media to hold people of all ages accountable, with consequences at times including harassment and both online and real-world “cancellation.” But the story behind the backlash also reveals a more complex portrait of behavior that for generations had gone unchecked in schools in one of the nation’s wealthiest counties, where Black students said they had long been subjected to ridicule. “Go pick cotton,” some said they were told in class by white students.

“It was just always very uncomfortable being Black in the classroom,” said Muna Barry, a Black student who graduated with Mimi and Jimmy. Once during Black History Month, she recalled, gym teachers at her elementary school organized an “Underground Railroad” game, where students were told to run through an obstacle course in the dark. They had to begin again if they made noise.

The use of the slur by a Heritage High School student was not shocking, many said. The surprise, instead, was that Mimi was being punished for behavior that had long been tolerated.

A ‘hostile learning environment’

Leesburg, the county seat of Loudoun County, lies just across the Potomac River from Maryland, about an hour’s drive from Washington. It was the site of an early Civil War battle, and slave auctions were once held on the courthouse grounds, where a statue of a Confederate soldier stood for more than a century until it was removed in July.

The Loudoun County suburbs are among the wealthiest in the nation, and the schools consistently rank among the top in the state. Last fall, according to the Virginia Department of Education, the student body at Heritage High was about half white, 20 percent Hispanic, 14 percent Asian-American and 8 percent Black, with another 6 percent who are mixed race.

In interviews, current and former students of color described an environment rife with racial insensitivity, including casual uses of slurs. …

Mimi said the video began as a private Snapchat message to a friend. “At the time, I didn’t understand the severity of the word, or the history and context behind it because I was so young,” she said in a recent interview, adding that the slur was in “all the songs we listened to, and I’m not using that as an excuse.” …

Since the racial reckoning of the summer, many white teenagers, when posting dance videos to social media, no longer sing along with the slur in rap songs. Instead, they raise a finger to pursed lips. “Small things like that really do make a difference,” Jimmy said.

  5. This story shows human nature at its worst – the plotting, back-stabbing Jimmy with his revenge fantasy stewing for years. The cowardly college administrators. The mob frenzy on the internet when moral crusaders smell blood in the water. The news reporter spinning the blame onto Robert E Lee.
All that hate directed at a young girl of 15.
And they have the nerve to call us deplorable?

  7. So, she tried to do some cheap virtue signaling for St. George Floyd and it backfired big time when an old video of her using the N-word surfaces. Hard for me to muster any sympathy. Glass houses and all that.

I’m also not sure why I’m supposed to get worked up about the injustice of somebody not getting to go to cheer college when there are plenty of 18 year olds who really did have their lives ruined by things like, I dunno, roadside IEDs in Iraq.

It’s really important for white parents to guide their children culturally from a young age instead of leaving it up to YouTube and iTunes. To be clear, I would have felt bad if she had just been minding her own business and an old video surfaces like this. But having dealt with so many of these sorts of hectoring white girls, I must say reading the story I unexpectedly found my sympathies were for the gay mulatto. At least he knows what he is.

  15. Altai says:

The gay Jewish kid from Stranger Things almost got cancelled a few months ago (Was trending with a ‘context’ explainer that didn’t say it was debunked) when footage of him and his friends from a Jewish summer camp singing a song where they assiduously replaced the ontrack use of the word with ‘neighbour’. It was apparently an injoke among them to do this. It was crazy because there was absolutely no pre-existing reason to find him ‘problematic’ or even objectionable that the joyous glee of the mob attacking him came through and the tweeters even noted it.

    Here is the footage.

  16. MattinLA says:

Wait, the “slur” is still being unapologetically sung in rap.songs.that are commercially available? Sung by whom, New York Times? And why arent those slurrers being punished?

  17. Altai says:

It’s also worth bearing that no other such taboo word exists in the West. It’s surreal, a prominent BBC DJ resigned around the same time as Schnapp was almost cancelled because a news anchor, attempting to promote a narrative of endemic white racism in Britain, reported the alleged use of the word in an assault at the behest of the family of the victim. Even in this context he was appalled that a white person said the word.

You’re not even allowed to mention the word when you’re reporting on it’s use as a slur. Surreal. And this was in Britain where the word has no (Or at least shouldn’t) ‘triggering’ potential since it wasn’t used very much as a slur and, of course, since blacks were never slaves and legal discrimination was outlawed not long after the Jamaican population was even noticeable in London.

  18. notsaying says:

This story shows why Americans aren’t getting along so well.

We have high schools that do nothing about racist remarks being said by white students. On the other hand, we have biracial and black kids who consider racist remarks as unacceptable when coming from white kids’ mouth but Ok in every rap song out there. I wonder how many black kids at that school used the N word themselves? I wonder if Jimmy himself uses the N word?

I also wonder if the black families in town are on equal footing with the whites in terms of income. I think there may be a class problem here as well as a racial one. Finally I have to wonder why Mimi’s friend circulated her Snapchat? If she hadn’t, none of this would have happened.

I wonder how much behavior will change in Leesburg after this? White kids putting their fingers over their lips whenever there’s a bad word is no answer. Obviously the smart thing for the White kids would be to stop listening to rap. I suspect there would be complaints about that, too. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

One of the curiosities of YouTube is the suggested content function, which is somewhat of a lottery, throwing up things that you may/may not like.

Recently YouTube introduced me to the delights of veteran British hard rockers ‘UFO’ – one simply *cannot beat* early 1970s British Heavy Metal, and the truly excellent ‘Boogie for George’. Proper white man’s music.
Of all the manifold, wonderful benefits of the internet, surely introducing listeners to great archived music which passed them by – back in the bad old days when a corrupt radio/record business cartel limited choice – is one of them.
What have I been doing for the past 50 years before discovering UFO?

Anyhow, ‘Boogie for George’ – recorded in *1970* – half a bloody century ago, a couple of generations ago! Sounds infinitely more modern, alive, avant garde, fresh, innovative than the black American soppy shit which infests today’s contemporary charts.

Five novels had been challenged in Burbank: Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men,” Theodore Taylor’s “The Cay” and Mildred D. Taylor’s Newbery Medal-winning young-adult classic “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.”

Five classic novels were banned in the Burbank, California, school district (2.6% black) apparently for using the n-word. It’s noteworthy that three of them have race relations as a primary theme, all are sympathetic to blacks, and all are set in a specific place and historical moment. Not exactly Klan literature.

And at its root, it stems from a painful personal story. Destiny Helligar, now 15 and in high school, recently told her mom about an incident that took place when she was a student at David Starr Jordan Middle School. According to Destiny’s mother, Carmenita Helligar, a white student approached Destiny in math class using a racial taunt including the N-word, which he’d learned from reading “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.”

As usual, the subtext seems to be, no white kid must ever disrespect a black kid. If it happens, making the entire school district perform public penance would be a suitable consequence, no matter how silly or self-defeating that might be for the local black community.

  34. @JimB

My approach is to filter out any black music produced by Jews. It’s important to remember that music men of the past and present are annexed subjects of their recording label.

When my wife was pregnant, I developed “womb playlists” of Jazz produced by Storytime (Danish one) and Venus (Japanese). The latter label, run by Tetsuo Hara, employs as many Italians and Portuguese as it does American negroes, if not more so.

With Storytime you get Louis Armstrong, Kenny Drew, Duke Jordan, etc. doing straight-ahead yeoman’s work with Danish sidemen.

  35. @International Jew

She posted a video in which she said “I can drive now, nigga” after she got her license. She was copying the syntax of every rapper and black youtuber/tik toker/etc where they add “nigga” to the end of everything. The article then says this was edited to show her only saying “nigga” instead of the full statement, probably because it makes it seem like she was calling someone that.

I honestly don’t know what to say anymore. It’s absurd that something like this done at 15 would then basically ruin someone’s life forever but honk honk. I guess now 15 year olds need to know how to manage their PR on their social media accounts. To be fair, when I was in high school Facebook was taking off and there were truly no rules but I always intuitively understood never to post anything too personal, explicit or political, and to assume that everyone I know will see everything I upload that can be publicly traced back to me.

  40. @SimpleSong

I sort of agree, but I still feel bad for her.

One thing you can say is this. A girl who’s obsessed with rap and cheerleading probably doesn’t belong on a college campus. Society would be better off if these types of kids could be sent into some post-HS apprentice program that placed grads in high-paying, stable jobs.

It’s really amazing that the US has spent trillions sending so many kids to college when so many just don’t belong there. This girl likely would’ve spent 4 years partying, while learning little of value. Sending her to college would be a net negative for America.

What’s outrageous about this story isn’t that she’s being denied college admission. What’s outrageous is that any university would think to admit her to begin with.

We really need a non-college route to the middle-class, for kids who are ambitious but not necessarily intellectual. It’d stop them from wasting so much time and money on something that they’re clearly not made for, but it’d also help them land on their feet economically.

  46. Oh no, now they came for the experts in cheerleading!

Having an attachment to the Party values, similar to Mimi’s love for BLM, must have been a requirement for entering college for a few years after the Soviet occupation. But since the early fifties, and despite a much smaller proportion of youth going into college, Romania has had competitive admissions, where nobody gave a damn about your politics and you cheerleading abilities. The Party had separate schools for activists, the payroll had them separated, and our grandparents were able to industrialize at breakneck speed.

I guess we should have changed our admission criteria, should have prioritized cheerleaders with a passion for BLM, in order to catch up, in QS World rankings, with the illustrious University of Knoxville. It’s the postindustrial era. In no time, we will eat Facebook likes, and wear Shares off Twitter. There’s also the lab-grown meat, and the Sunday maggots. So many things the youth steeped in BLM values can do!

If Mimi had a leftover of a brain, she should have switched to a German or Swedish university, where she would have paid rent (at most), and nobody would have cared about her politics. There are no admissions, but, on the other hand, they won’t let you pass Algebra 101 based on your cheerleading abilities. After all it’s a pandemic, there may be fewer opportunities to lead cheers. It may take 3 years until a talented Tennessean obtains all the passing scores to reach Year 2.

This is just too on-your-face. How is anyone sane supposed to take sides in a contest of teens competing in virtue signaling? I wonder if my grandparents were as repulsed by the hypocrisy of the Komsomol.

  47. A ‘hostile learning environment’

You’re damn right, it’s a hostile learning environment. I pity the poor white kids who have to put up with Black History Month to begin with. That’s 20 school days of being told your people are the worst, just the absolute worst, and you owe these black people who mess up your schools and your neighborhoods. What kind of mentality comes from that? I’d get pretty hostile after going through that year after year.

They’ve got to participate in that stupid underground railroad crap while we just had our haunted houses, pot-smoking in the parking lot, and throwing of burning paper airplanes out the window.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but this whole incident would have fit in very well with millions of other stories in China’s Cultural Revolution. I read 10 to 15 books about that cultural disaster that ruined the lives of so many, young and old, a half century ago. I guess if you learn no history …

  48. @Pericles

I gave it a listen. That’s great for a dance club after you’ve had a few beers, but face it, Pericles, the young people know that all the good music was made way before their time. Besides the classical music, there was all the great stuff made in the era of rock, from 1965 to 1985 (and that’s stretching it).

The problem for a young person is, if he is found out listening to Zeppelin or Linda Ronstadt, he may be called a boomer-lover. Will they take away your cheerleading scholarship (WTF?) for using the b-word? Maybe not just yet.

The classic albums by Monk, Bud Powell, Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Clark, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, Eric Dolphy, Bobby Hutcherson, Andrew Hill — you just filter out all of the above, because a German Jewish refugee produced their records for the label he started?

All the Atlantic soul records produced (or coproduced) by Jerry Wexler — by Ray Charles, the Drifters, Ben E. King, Solomon Burke, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and others — are they verboten as well?

That approach seems a tad…constricting. Do you check on whether Impulse founder and producer Bob Thiele was Jewish before you decide whether to spring for Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard, or Oliver Nelson’s The Blues and the Abstract Truth? Or if Riverside honcho Orrin Keepnews was an M.O.T., lest you taint your collection with the best work by Wes Montgomery or Monk’s Five Spot live albums with Johnny Griffin?

Either you’re joking — which is fine, you almost had me there for a minute — or you’re serious, in which case you’re leaving a lot of first-rate music off your playlists.

My oldest is 11 and currently listening to a lot of electronic music and dance pop.
My Wife supports me %100 on this as we find the majority of black culture to be deviant, perverse, and utterly foreign to our values. We are hardly religious or puritans but we both see how Anti White america has become and how blacks are used to degrade our once great culture.

If curious to what I listen to, my favorite band is The Sisters Of Mercy an 80’s rock band. I listen to various genres everything from Iggy Pop, Wasp, Metallica, Blutengel, Combichrist, Vitalic, most Techno, Trance, House, Drum N Bass, Industrial, Darkwave Gothic Electro, and on and on and on. I have been a musician and I djed Aggrotech and Dark EDM for years and have performed live in several major cities including playing at a couple festivals in Germany and England when I was DJing full time in my 30’s. In 1990, the sheriff of Broward County (Fort Lauderdale) arrested the rap group 2 Live Crew for obscenity. Sheriff’s deputies went around nabbing shopkeepers who refused to pull the hit album “As Nasty as They Wanna Be” from their shelves.

During the trial, the jurors requested (and received) permission to laugh at the raunchy lyrics:

    https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1990-10-18-9002200189-story.html

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, after listening to 3 1/2 hours of raunchy lyrics in the 2 Live Crew obscenity trial, jurors had an unusual request for the judge.

    Could they laugh?

When Broward County Court Judge June Johnson said it was OK, the six jurors and three alternates broke into fits of giggles and guffaws.

“You probably needed that, didn’t you?” Johnson retorted.

    Many of the jurors nodded.

Interestingly, Luther Campbell and his homies had no trouble obtaining an acquittal from a bunch of crackas:

    https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1990-10-22-1990295015-story.html

As his trial opened in Fort Lauderdale last week, Luther Campbell, 29, the leader of the rap music group 2 Live Crew, was anticipating a clash of cultures.

He said he thought the six jurors, who included three women over age 60 and only one black, might be too old, too white and too middle-class to understand his raunchy music.

But the rapper from Miami apparently misjudged the Broward County jurors, who Saturday quickly acquitted Mr. Campbell and two other band members of obscenity charges.

Evidently the Nice White Ladies came to his rescue:

[A prosecutor] said he had been particularly worried about [a 76-year-old woman].

“She hated me,” he said. “I could just feel it. She was extremely liberal. She was a sociologist, and I don’t like sociologists. They try to reason things out too much.”

Were the lyrics really all that funny? You tell me:

So rapper is now officially a type of cultural entrepreneur who, at the same time he is lauded for how ‘brave’ and ‘inspiring’ he is by the talking head elite, produces an end-product absolutely scandalous if seen to be enjoyed by someone non-intersectional (i.e. white and worst of, all, male)? Meaning, sex-worker now has company in this curious entertainment industry niche?

This is really sad. As I read it, a 15 year old girl, elated at earning her learners permit, sent a message to a white friend of the 15 year old qouting a rap song. The quote is exactly on point to her message but, horrifically, the blacks in the song use the dreaded “N word,” probably about 50 times throughout the whole song. Jimmy Galligan, for some reason he will never be able to truly justify, struggle though he may, saves the message to ruin the girl’s life 2 years later. What a despicable little sh*t!!! And they call whites “deplorables?” Just to prove they may be right the University of Tennessee withdraws her scholarship and admission. Worse still a bunch of the commenters here assume this girl is a party girl who planned to consort with the football players, about whom they make assumptions (Peyton Manning was the biggest star UT ever had), and wouldn’t learn anything of value in college. The fact is that if she got grades suitable for college admission she is most likely no dummy. Moreover, if she is a competitive cheerleader, good enough to earn a scholarship to a champion college, she devoted a great deal of time to gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading (not what I would want for my daughter, but more power to her). She excelled and that says volumes about her. Now, because some “despicable little sh*t” finally got his unwarranted revenge, because some woke jerks objected, and because some cowardly college administrators caved, she is devastated. All because as a 15 year old she expressed her joy at a major event in her teenage life, by quoting a song to her white friend. In my view Jimmy, some UT administrators, and some commenters here should be ashamed.

  117. I think “disheartening” was an excellent word choice by Mr. Sailer; my reaction in reading the story was to be disheartened in many different ways: that rap should be the music kids listen to, that a vile act of revenge and racial resentment by Jimmy would be amplified into a cause for Mimi to be rejected by a university, that any university would be so venal and stupid as to consider this a cause for rejection, and of course that the country’s most eminent newspaper would run a big further amplification of the matter. But the most disheartening thing of all is that none of this could happen if white people didn’t choose to let it happen. It seems that white people in general prefer to die out rather than make a scene. Listen to Jared Taylor’s most recent 10-minute video in which he lists concisely all the ways in which white people are on the decline. Doesn’t Mimi have an equal-protection-of-the-law case against the university? All she needs is to find one or more POC admitted who have used the Nigger word. NOTE TO STEVE SAILER: If you intend to not print young people’s surnames — a policy I like — it doesn’t make sense to allow commenters to include a photo of them.

Of course this isn’t what happened at all. The message was a private joke sent by a white girl to a friend, and had nothing to do with Jimmy until he chose to involve himself. But you had to read the article carefully to figure out that the only offense involved is that a white person had pronounced the forbidden syllables. It’s pretty clear that the journalist who write the article — and by extension his editors at the Times — totally approves of Jimmy’s vindictiveness, and feels that this really is an offense worthy of ruin.

Mimi is not Jewish at all, even if it’s popular among American Jews. The Mimis I’ve known weren’t Jewish. It’s like odd things you notice after years like the way Italian-Americans name their sons ‘Michael’, and that’s well before The Godfather.

Over the years, I’ve noticed ‘Amy’ as a frequent choice of Jewish names. And Steven.

Rocco is Italian, Mordecai and Gershon are Jewish, I’ve heard Aaron both Jewish and Gentile. I remember all the black Tyrones I used to run into, but I’d never heard of any others but the actor Tyrone Power, although I think it’s a white name.

Just that sometimes ethnics favour certain names–including names more associated with Gentiles. I don’t think any research has been done on it, and I don’t think there could be any. Blacks were using Kevin a lot at one point too, and that’s certainly not like Shaneequa.

‘Simon’ seems to be everywhere in England, either Jewish or Gentile. Much more than in US.

Just on first impression? Surely, it’s difficult to believe that this is a boy on second, third, and fourth impression, even with the sovereign word of a Jewish Times writer that such is the case. Apropos which, would anyone other than a Jew take this perverted kid’s word for anything?

Indeed, nothing in this story is free of Jew subtext. Those commenters who point to its vicious, joyous vindictiveness are certainly correct, but there is a curious underlying soupçon of sympathy for Mimi, running in counterpoint with the applause for the moral deviance and degeneracy of Jimmy, that implies that this particular Mimi, her characteristically Gentile enthusiasms notwithstanding, must be a Jew. Were she a white girl, the embarrassment, shame, and disruption already endured by her and her elders either would never have been alluded to or would have been brushed aside with a gesture of self-righteous contempt, a commodity whose market the Times has cornered.

By way of postscript, the gentleman who wrote that “this story shows why Americans aren’t getting along so well” has made the error of conflating the sickness and degeneracy of Jews and blacks with the characteristics of true Americans. As Johnson told Boswell, “Sir, clear your mind of cant.”

Nah. College as a place to meet a future spouse really hasn’t been a thing since the early 60s. Though there were a few doing it as recently as the late 80s. The “MRS Degree” was totally obsolete by the early 90s.

She’s NOT in college to to “meet a husband.” She’s there to be pretty and popular, and to meet sex partners.

Her “academic experience” will consist of skipping lectures and cramming before test day, to pass easy exams in Econ (after which she’ll forget nearly all the material). After graduation, she’ll go on to be a HR analyst as some Big Corp, sifting through resumes and doing other clerical work (tasks that would’ve only required a HS education and maybe 1 year post-grad training).

After “dating” a few men off Tinder, she’ll probably marry some former frat guy whose dad has money. Then she’ll move to the Nashville suburbs.

  146. @vhrm

Rap is pervasive, yes. However, young people vary as to the extent to which they listen to this type of music and use the phrases.

A White cheerleader who listens to rap and “drops the En-word” is likely dimwitted and uncultured. I’ve met plenty of girls (and guys) like that. Such people have little (if anything) to contribute intellectually. It’s amazing our universities are full of so many people like this. Such people reflect everything that’s wrong with America.

Well, we’ve all sucked on Hollywood all our lives, even if it’s rotted so much be now that we can take it out of our mouths…but there’s no American culture without Hollywood–and film is mostly the only truly American film art. Europe followed, but there was never a literal huge physical community of all those studios, a kind of city within a city. London never had it, Paris never had it, Rome never had it–even if a lot of films that came from them were better than much of what Hollywood produced.

And in Hollywood, you have although the moguls and producers and directors who mostly stuck to creating the STARS from Gentiles. Has changed considerably since people like Barbra Streisand, but many of the few film actors who were Jews–Kirk Douglas, Judy Holliday–changed their names, and lots of people didn’t know they were Jewish.

It’s important to remember that music men of the past and present are annexed subjects of their recording label.

It is one of the things that is really lacking, especially when considering that movies and many of the other popular culture items have become so co-opted and bastardized. Rock was exciting in its day but it is dead now and is probably better off remaining buried for another 100 years along with the decadence and nihilism of the times. (“Holy mongrelization, Batman!”) I don’t think producer Teo Macero was Jewish, but of course, Columbia Records president Clive Davis was, so…

Or Sonny Rollins’s The Bridge, with the restrained, ever-tasteful Jim Hall on guitar. (Producer: George Avakian. Sounds Armenian to me.)

Or the original Ornette Coleman Quartet, with Charlie Haden on bass. (On Atlantic, their records were produced by Nesuhi Ertegun and Tom Dowd — not M.O.T.’s, so harmolodics are o.k.)

Stan Getz: out, out, right out. Even the late career albums with Kenny Barron, Rufus Reid and Victor Lewis? (“This man is a Jew.” “How can you tell?” “I have x-ray vision.”) Even People Time, his double-disc swansong duet with Kenny Barron? (“Don’t burn it for me. Burn it for the children.”)

I thought I had seen everything on this board, but a man who knows jazz well, yet won’t expose his children to the wonders of Blue Note because Alfred Lion was Jewish — that’s one for the books. Houston Stewart Chamberlain’s books.

After I had the confused young “white man’s” attention I always try to “trow” in some 411 on racial realities, in a civil tone of course. More often than not, I encounter no real problems. It is how you say things, how you approach people, especially men but even women nowadays. Told the wigger to start checking out some old 70s and 80s Black music like the people I mentioned earlier as well as a few others and threw in some great White bands like Grand Funk Railroad, CCR, The Stooooooonessss, The Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald or Tom Johnston, both versions were great, and other great classic rock bands. Hell, I hate heavy metal as well so it isn’t just a Black thang, and while I like old school country, I damn sure don’t want to workout to it. Well, Benedict Arnold wore our uniform too…

If you want whites to act with unified purpose, as a block, you have to do some herding. You have to make it worth people’s while to help out, and if somebody goes above and beyond, you have to reward them richly. If someone is a traitor, there has to be consequences. According to the article:

..as protests were sweeping the nation after the police killing of George Floyd, Mimi in a public Instagram post, urged people to “protest, donate, sign a petition, rally, do something” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The other side rewards people for acting like this. If we don’t punish them, then how would a rational person who is a fence-sitter, or even mildly predisposed to our cause, behave?

I guarantee that if you overlooked this, tried to help out and welcome back the prodigal daughter, she would want nothing to do with you and would disavow. Unconditional forgiveness for every dumb white girl just makes you look like a doormat.

Best to be both loved and feared, but if you have to choose one or the other, be feared. You are not going to get very far trying to convince people with ideas or arguments or blog posts, because at the end of the day, those are attempts at making people love you. That’s nice, but if you want to win, people need to fear you.

That’s how the left won. They wormed their way into the institutions, onto admissions committees, into HR, and now people fear them. They can instill fear: fear that you will lose your admissions slot, fear that you will be sued for discrimination, etc. They never won any arguments, they never will, they don’t need to. They can intimidate. We need to stop trying to fight them with love, and rather fight fear with fear.

  207. Whatever happened to free speech?

Whatever happened to applying to college by simply only providing your school records and your SAT scores?

In the late 90s, everyone was saying the n-word. White and black. It was in all of the rap songs and people of all races clearly understood it’s meaning: friend, buddy, brother, compa.

It was taking its place in the vocabulary of other black-originated words and phrases like “can you dig it”, “feel me” and on and on and on and on for the last 9 decades.

And then? Suddenly the so-called n-word is “racist.” Arrogant pricks like Ice-Cube went on Bill Maher and declared that that word is “our” word.

No, Cube, it ain’t “your people’s” word. It’s a word introduced into the English language by black people. And it is not racist to say that word.

Schools that would deny entrance to a student because she rapped are not worthy of applying for. And cowardly rats who sneak around waiting to “ambush” someone doing a rap song? They deserve only scorn and derision.

No. Having spent many years in an urban jungle, I can definitely say that Negro music has, along with Rock, degenerated far beyond anything that was released in the 1970’s. There was to be sure, some obscene and decadent material, but not the violent or explicit type of lyrical content that is commonplace today. Sexuality was usually suggestive and innuendo. The violence of Rap and Rock was probably exemplified then by Grand Master Flash (Don’t Push Me: a cautionary tale rather than a celebratory one) and AC/DC (Dirty Deeds). But most music of that era was about parties, fast cars and love.

Rap was sometimes clever and catchy, if redundant. Fresh Prince was amusing before he became Will Smith. Run D.M.C. got famous by ripping off Aerosmith (with their full cooperation). This was a regular thing with early Rappers, to take Metal riffs and loop them. Yet, when Vanilla Ice did it, Queen sued him. Blondie rapped about an alien eating cars, bars and guitars (I always liked the chorus to that one). Sir Mix-a-Lot made a point in “Posse On Broadway” that he was not a gangster, and also rapped about “Buttermilk Biscuits.” One of the early Rap songs that I heard was “Friends” by Whodini, and I recall thinking it was pretty catchy.

When “Straight Outta Compton” came out, several of my friends had it. I purchased a used cassette at the pawn shop, and I can still recite a good portion of it. The thing is, we never bought into the lifestyle. We were all metal heads and mainly just found the novelty interesting. I also wanted to know what was being said, because the Anti-White component was just beginning to rise to the surface in ways that hadn’t come to full fruition in the older protest songs. Racial awareness was naturally ingrained into me from an early age by proximity. Additionally, growing up around Negroes, there was a constant exposure to them and their music. Perhaps, there was a grudging, mutual admiration going on. They hated metal, but I remember playing Ozzy Osbourne (Over The Mountain) one day, and a bunch of Negroes were really impressed with the drumming. We always referred to their jungle rhythms as “N*gger music, but there were certain tunes that crossed over and were quasi accepted. There was seldom a Negro at anyone’s house, and if they did have one over, they usually tried to excuse it by qualifying them as White on the inside. Which, invariably, was a wistful notion that would soon be dispelled when things started to come up missing.

UFO never lived up to their potential, despite having 3-4 tracks on US FM rock radio for decades. Most who follow NWOBHM and their Hard Rock counterparts would attribute UFO’s failure to achieve arena status on both Michael Schenker’s exit after their successful live record Strangers in the Night (1978) and creativity stifled by legendary drug and alcohol abuse. Their failure to thrive at the turn of the decade, which forced all rockers to reckon with New Wave synthesizers, punk influences, and the intensification of the heavy in Heavy Metal, is not a surprise. The system took down most, and dinosaurs of the ‘70s were relegated to clubs for eternity.

  229. @AceDeuce

One upside for me was to have learned from first hand experience, which I was able to build upon through further investigation (observation, reading, etc… ). Unlike many of my naive’ suburban contemporaries, I was not oblivious to the nature of things. I know where I stand with them, and I keep them at a respectable distance. I also had more than my share of hand to hand combat. Once, when I was 19, I was playing baseball with some friends. An 18 year old Marine, fresh out of boot camp and looking very strong and healthy, jokingly raised a bat, as if to swing it at me. Before he knew what happened, he was on his back with the end of the bat, which I had relieved him of on his way down, an inch from his nose. Maybe, it was just a bit of luck on my part, but he was certainly startled.

If anything, being constantly reminded of my race strengthened my identity, rather than weakening it. I graduated from being referred to as “Punk Ass White Boy” in Elementary to being known as “Crazy Ass White Boy” in High School.

I’ve found that I can speak Jive (or Ebonics), but choose not to incorporate their vernacular. I can’t say that I ever really did, other than to use the odd phrase now and again. When ever someone says, “My Bad,” it always seems like an incomplete thought. I want to finish by offering alternate endings, “Bad… Breath? Choices in Wardrobe? Taste in Music?” Whenever I ask someone how they’re doing or if they need something (I’ve been in hospitality for a long time), and they reply, “I’m Good,” I always respond with, “I Try To Be.” There’s appears to be an incredible number of “Good” people of all ages and races, but I strongly suspect that many of those who claim to be “Good,” really aren’t. With a lot of the older White People that use that expression, you would think they would possess a larger vocabulary. What happened to, “I’m doing quite well. How are you?,” “I feel great! Thank You for asking.” or “No, Thank You. I have all I need at present.” ?

Speaking of swimming in toxic waste (I’ve told this story before), I went to the community pool one day when I was 13. It was during the Jheri Curl phase, and there was a rainbow colored oil slick literally covering the surface of the pool. When you emerged, you were layered in slime. Even toweling off didn’t completely remove the greasy residue. I never went back and it closed many years ago.

Uniqueness does carry weight in terms of aesthetics, just not by itself–it’s not enough. Sort of like the difference between ‘exotic’ and ‘elegant’, of which elegant is obviously superior by itself. But when elegance is exotic, it is always something delectable. I was just giving a flip word to what I thought was a stupid remark even if one doesn’t like jazz. He then wrote “Rap is shit”. And even not all of it is shit. Slum Village even wrote one that’s quite pretty and only moderately obscene, ‘Faster’. I think that’s from the mid-90s. But I basically don’t care for rap. i guess I do think most ‘straight outta Compton’ stuff and the rest is shit.

Jazz is a much larger realm than rap, and has developed in a thousand ways since its birth in New Orleans. Duke Ellington is not shit, and that’s very different from Cecil Taylor’s hard-to-listen-to music. Not to mention all the others, including singers like Billie Holliday. Thousands of them, and some in similar idiom, some entirely different. I just put Duke Ellington because he’s sophisticated, not semi-sophisticated. Saying ‘Jazz is shit’ is like saying any country’s folk music is shit, or country music is shit, or Mozart is shit. I shouldn’t have even bothered responding, of course.

Whenever someone says “My bad,” it always seems like an incomplete thought. …

Thank you for your remarks on this matter. I did not know that this extraordinarily stupid expression was black in origin. Perhaps I should have guessed that it was, especially as what the expression means to communicate is by no means self-evident from its form or its components and thus would suit the culpable ignorance of its presumptive originators to a T.

As I am a very old guy, “my bad” isn’t something I’ve ever said, nor has anyone ever said it in my presence. Yet I’ve seen it used in articles and comments on white-activist and traditionalist forums and heard it used in online interviews by people who seem as comfortable with it as if it were as commonplace as “what’s up?” or “touch and go” or even “OK.” I’ve even heard Kevin MacDonald say it!

But it doesn’t really doesn’t have much to do with the crisis. (And most of the “Ok, Boomer” stuff here on iSteve is ridiculously incoherent. With stuff done by LBJ, or Reagan or Bush I tagged as “Boomer’s did this to me”. Analysis by people who can’t do addition. Tech bubble, Iraq War, housing bubble/Great Recession now you’re talking about Boomer driven policy.)

The nation you young guys are inheriting isn’t what it should be. Laws, politics, business, mass media–ok, whine on. But we Boomers aren’t making you listen to the Beatles or rap. (We didn’t even have rap–blame GenX.) And we Boomers aren’t making Millennial girls do whatever they are doing–spending every minute on social media, virtue signaling, not making themselves fit for or being ready for marriage, sleeping around until they are 30 or deciding they are non-binary.

I definitely am feeling Negro Fatigue so I hear ya loud and clear. Back when I was younger I always liked a great deal of Black music, and that is music, not (c)rap. I still prefer rock & roll over soul music. A great deal of rock tunes were originally done by Blacks though so no big secret there. The thing is now I don’t spend money buying any music whether Black or White so I am definitely not supporting any Black entertainer and I can proudly say that I have not watched one second of the NFL or College football in 3 years and counting.

11 is a bit too young for rap (or the more predominant ‘trap’ variant nowadays).

Give it two years and he’ll be listening to nothing but trap. You can’t stop it, once they hit teenage years their peer group becomes more important than the parents, and that is the #1 music of choice for the youth by far. Rock is dead, over, annihilated. No one under 25 listens to any rock or alternative music.

If you “punish him” you’ll only succeed in making him listen to it more. It’s ok, don’t panic. I know lots of white guys who listen to nothing but rap and they have pretty white girlfriends and are on their way to a nice marriage and two kids.

You have to understand the rest of popular music is completely neutered when it comes to men. Rock is dead, EDM is mindless and in decline anyway. The only acceptable way for men to express anger, frustration, sexual desire, etc. is through rap so they will flock to it. Like I said, you can’t stop it. If you say so, I’m sure it is true. In your mind.

If you want to live your life by the declined social mores of the day … the person responsible for the results–you.

That whooshing sound over your head? It’s reality. See, we don’t get to choose the social mores surrounding us any more than we get to choose the air quality. It’s just there. When the air is stuffed full of smug, either you breath it and suffer, or you move and get away, or build a little clean-air room somehow. But even if you can build a clean-air room, the smug is still outside.

I’m sure Art’s advice is great, for 1978, as is yours. But….

The problem is, it is not 1978 anymore. This fact seems to whiz far over the heads of you, Art and others. See, it’s really a great idea for a 20-something guy to go to college, get a general business degree, meet a nice girl his Junior year, marry that nice girl right out of college, get a great job with Kodak, invest in mutual funds, buy one of the many affordable houses in the area of a good school district…do you get it, yet?

    Probably not.

Hey, is the Ford Pinto a good car to drive to work? What about a Chevy Vega? Or that AMC Tracer?

    Snicker…sigh.

Dude, when you were a kid, did you ever get tired of hearing your parents talk about the Depression and WW II and how FDR fixed everything up and how if only he was around at that current year things would be alllll better? The average age of a girl in the US on the day of her first marriage is 27. Fact. Doesn’t matter if you like it or not, fact. That means the average girl isn’t getting married right out of college. Because she doesn’t want to, not yet. So your advice is way out of date for most young men and young women, whether you like it or not.

Friend of mine was a senior in college when he asked a 22 year old junior to marry him. She turned him down why? Because she hadn’t lived her life enough yet. Maybe in a few years. This is pretty common now, in the real world of 2020, and maybe down the line — like in 4 or 5 years – she’ll decide differently. Or maybe not.

See, men can’t just order women to marry them. Maybe that’s what you and Dad did back in the day; walk out of college graduation, pick out a likely filly, tell her “Woman! You’re gonna marry me! Now get up on this wagon, we’ve got to get a move on!” although I kinda doubt it. Either way, things aren’t like that now. Women get to choose when they marry and whom they marry, and the average age of an American girl on her first wedding day is 27,, not 22.

It’s not 1978 anymore. Make a note. Buy a new calendar.

Not sure how old you are, but consider that one nice thing about modern culture is that, largely due to the web, it’s allowed for the flourishing of niche interests as people are able to find each other on the web. (see e.g. iSteve, or youtube channels about crushing things in a hydraulic press).

What the average girl does or wants isn’t 100% relevant. A guy just needs to find one girl with compatible values and of adequate “quality” to him, and who feels likewise about him.

For example, while I find the Proud Boys fetishizing of women as mothers to be overdone to the point of being creepy, there seems to be some interest in that from both men and women.

I’m trying to take more seriously that hey yeah one really CAN be volitional in your life choices rather than drifting along, and i think it’s something that “the kids” who grew up w/ anti-bullying and multi-culturalism indoctrination and such actually take to heart. Many or more “live and let live” than even a few decades ago.

e.g. i’m not sure how things like “Breakfast Club”, “Heathers” or even “Mean Girls” would play today. I think they wouldn’t resonate with a lot of HS students from the past 5 to 10 years.

My window into millennial life–my kids. Taking my daughter’s friends i know as a sample, a few of them did meet their husbands in college. One tied the knot right away. A couple a couple years after graduation. My daughter’s probably still a year or two out, though she’s got a good guy. Plenty of millenials (and now post-millenials) still meet their spouse in college even if they tend not to tie the knot right away.

And–Art’s point–anyone going to college ought to be looking. The opportunities never get better. And it’s up to you–not the prevailing social mores–to determine the particular life you lead.

Yes, and, let’s not forget that a great deal of the “Black” Rock-N-Roll was composed by Leiber and Stoller, Carole King, and Phil Spector. If those people would stick to writing good music and telling funny jokes, instead of using their talents for perversion and subversion, there would be no need for anyone to contemplate kicking their tuchuses.

If I purchase music, it is usually a used C.D. or the occasional vintage record. I’ve never been much of a sports fan, so I haven’t felt the pangs of separation from a favorite pastime. I enjoy watching boxing from time to time, but I don’t have any of the pugilist’s names on my shirt or on the bumper of my car. I’ve never painted my torso in a boxer’s trunk colors and stood, cheering myself hoarse, on the front row. Now and again, I catch myself momentarily transfixed by Women’s gymnastics, figure skating, or, if “The Game” happens to be focusing on the cheerleaders as I’m channel surfing, I may stop long enough to watch their routine. There’s still something about physically fit and comely women that I find irresistible. Whereas, I generally view strong Negroes as potential adversaries, and I automatically formulate plans and make mental preparations to resist them if the situation requires. The last thing I want to do is celebrate them. Besides, they are sufficiently self congratulatory without any further encouragement contributed by me being necessary.

I’m currently working on reinvigorating some, as an acquaintance of mine termed, “music so old that it’s new again.” This has happened to some degree already, but I think I see some relatively untapped material and have conjured up some new ways of presenting it. The problem is, I lack talent. I’m trying to acquire some, but it is a little late. Still, I’ve learned and accomplished more in the last few years than I ever did before. So, I have some confidence in being able to produce something on my own in this area, and, if nothing else, maybe inspire some other, younger, more capable, White people to follow my lead. Many of the great songs were written by someone other than the person that made them memorable by performing them. Even some of the original performers were less successful than the cover artists. So, maybe I can contribute something lasting in that way.

I would have to disagree about Black music wallowing in self pity. They may do that in every other way, but their music is almost always of a bombastic or sensual nature. Long gone are the old Negroid lamentations like “Sometimes, I Feel Like A Motherless Child.” Now, they only either rap about what a playa they iz, or caterwaul their sexual impulses. They don’t even produce the decent love songs like the Commodore’s “Oh No” anymore.

As Mr. Johnson has so aptly observed, there is at least an additional month dedicated to Michael King day. Then, add all of the “learning opportunities,” presented by a traumatic episode like this, and you end up with a year of teaching injustice, intolerance, discrimination and victimization and how Whitey has to make good for it. After so much hand wringing, groveling, apologizing and promising to atone for everything that has ever made anyone feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, unloved, or unwanted, there just isn’t any time left for frivolous matters like math, reading or science.

You made reference to Mao’s revolution. As insidious as that was, at least it was young Chinks betraying their Chink elders and mentors on behalf of a China for the exclusive “benefit” of the Chinese Imperial Ant Colony. If you like merely being a cog in the machine, then at least there’s racial solidarity, anonymity and the comfort of being relieved of the responsibility for making your own decisions.

Far more devious, and more in line with today’s nefarious schemes, are the Janissaries of the Ottoman empire. These were part of the blood quota imposed upon the Slavic people of Eastern Europe (from which the word Slave is derived), whereby they were required to submit a percentage of their children to be enslaved by Turks. The girls became domestics and concubines. Some of the males were trained to be warriors and sent to rule over their own people. Count Vladimir Dracula, schooled in the art of Muslim warfare, rebelled against his Islamic masters and waged a campaign of Human Popsicles that discouraged and turned back the Turkish Army led by his brother to capture him. Alas, Poor Vlad was later imprisoned by other European Principalities for having gone beyond the pale.

I can’t picture these kids today just laying in bed listening to whoever’s new album. They would be on Tik Tok or what have you. At most, music would just be background noise. Someone also postulated that music-based subcultures in general seem to be dying.

If you “punish him” you’ll only succeed in making him listen to it more.

OK, Here’s a funny story: I became curious about punk rock music because of my religion teacher ironically enough (I went to a catholic high school). While I at least felt that the faculty was trying to live up to their ideals and respected them for it, Something about this guy just grated on me. When we had a lesson on the evils of contemporary music, he would go on about how evil the Sex Pistols were (The Pistols broke up in 1978 and he was talking about them in 1989. Way to stay current, He also thought “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd was the most evil song ever and he hated Ozzy). If anything he made me even more interested in the subject. My interest in heavier stuff was pretty solidified by that point and it’s all thanks to my religion teacher.

I gotz a better song for Slim Wigger, cue in order of selection: Sympathy For The Devil by the Stooones, Running With The Devil by Van Halen, then we progress to Hell’s Bells and finally Highway To Hell by AC/DC. Unless this emaciated POS does a 180 there will be NO “Stairway To Heaven” for this clown.

No real “gangstas” rap anyhow. Why is it none of those hard niccas have ever done any serious time. LMAO. Poop Dawg and Puffy Daddy would shit a brick if they went to the joint.

So sorry for the wear and tear on your scrolling finger, Millennial. It must be brutal. Some of us sit at computers, using our mice or arrow keys, and that might be easer for you. Or, you could be a typical Millennial and do that boomer-invented swiping that makes you people look gay as all get out.

  312. @Supply and Demand

I’m not Strauss&Howe-qualified boomer, but as I wrote in the latest Peak Stupidity post Millennials – Calm the Hell Down!*, nobody can accurately pin the travails of the world on specific generations. Just to take an example, look at the Presidential election voting patterns since 1964. Even the so-called “landslides” have numbers like 60-40 or 55-45. (Many are landslides in electoral votes due to our system, and more power to it.)

The woe that has befallen America comes from happenings anywhere from the 2nd decade of the last century arguably to the Frankfurt School of 90-odd years ago or just to the mid-1960’s. During none of these times, there were boomers in charge of anything.

You could say that they sure as hell didn’t fight anything, but I could say that for plenty of people in all the generations since this stuff started. Americans figured it wasn’t their job to fight this slow Communist Long March through the institutions. I don’t include myself, a Ron Paul voter since way back.

You’ve told us what your up to, and your plan there in Dalian(?), but I gave you my warning. I don’t there’s any great bug-out place left for one to sit at the computer and gloat.

If you’re also into ’70s British acoustic music, I would strongly recommend Pentangle. They do modern takes on traditional songs.

Pentangle indeed — in particular, “Lord Franklin”:

I still like half of the Dylan stuff I used to like.

Factoid: Dylan’s “Bob Dylan’s Dream” is musically based on “Lord Franklin.”

You can demand that people not be of their time or not go along with the crowd. But the truth is that most people are of their time and do go along with the crowd.

Tell me this is not the history of the world.

If you think America is going to be saved by white people who grew up thinking like you do, you are sadly mistaken.

Sure, we’re talking two very different worlds here, but…what did they think they were signing up for? Cheer school? Probably a good idea to review the sort of “people” you’re fighting for. A bit of reading, hideous fate in service of literal vermin avoided…

I sympathize with people permanently disabled because they signed up to fight for a depraved, illegitimate regime that hates them, but they did sign up to fight for a depraved, illegitimate regime that hates them. It’s heartbreaking to think about.

But this girl just did what she was told, aped the stupid degenerate jevvish-produced black-performed culture she’s been steeped in from the cradle.

‘Course I guess in both cases we’re talking about people with broken brains…

I’ll take Whites who think like he does over the typical White.

That said, I think we can do better than the kind of rigid, doctrinaire purity-spiraling we sometimes see from proud Whites, particularly the more old-school type (I’m a pretty old-school WN myself, dating back to 2002, so I’m not throwing stones on that score).

Our people have been psychologically traumatized, severely damaged, by the horrible anti-White (((regime))) that is genociding them. We need to save their minds and their spirits before we can secure their physical well-being.

We also need to acknowledge the trauma we’re still recovering and suffering from after we leave the matrix, which can sometimes lead us to be too judgmental toward people who aren’t as far along the path to recovery as we are.

Funny you should say that, as the guy who ruined her pounced when she posted a strong statement of support for BLM.

    And so it goes.

It’d be interesting to hear what she thinks about it all now. Rude awakenings do happen. On the other hand, sometimes they don’t.

Yeah, hard to say. A conservative might be a liberal who got mugged, but woke progressives… there are white rape victims in Scandinavia who feel guilty about getting their refugee rapists deported.

I’m curious if once fed a bunch of rap lyrics, could a deep learning neural network AI blah blah computer spit out the equivalent of new, “real” rap songs? It is interesting to see the art it produces so far, more a mashup of imagery and sounds than anything resembling coherence, but rap seems like a very low bar. Some basic beats, a very limited vocabulary, so possibly it could churn out something that sounds legit. I think I heard an AC/DC AI created song that was kind of funny. I wonder if the computer would power itself down out of fear when trying to figure out how many n-bombs are just enough before becoming racist?

Is/ought can not penetrate your brain. Got it.

    LOL! Project much?

That whooshing sound over your head? It’s reality. See, we don’t get to choose the social mores surrounding us any more than we get to choose the air quality. It’s just there.

Duh. But–also duh–you don’t have to live your life precisely per dictated spec.

    Yeah, so?

FACT: The median age of a US girl on the day of her first marriage is 27.

My window into millennial life–my kids.

Do you know what “small sample” means?

Taking my daughter’s friends i know as a sample, a few of them did meet their husbands in college.

Do you know what “median” means?

And–Art’s point–anyone going to college ought to be looking.

Ought, eh? Who was it you claimed couldn’t split the diff between “ought” and “is”?

FACT: Most people in the US don’t go to college.
FACT: The median age of a US girl on the day of her first wedding is 27.

So that advice you hand out? It’s really not relevant to most guys. Plus it can really harm some guys, because they’ll believe in fantasies, and thus not be prepared to deal with reality.

The opportunities never get better. And it’s up to you–not the prevailing social mores–to determine the particular life you lead.

Ought, eh? Who was it had a problem with the difference between “ought” and “is”, again?

FACT: Most people in the US do not go to college.
FACT: The median age of a US girl the day she first gets married is 27.

You are not some slave to whatever the contemporary mores are, even though that’s the ocean you swim in.

The median age of a US girl on the day of her first wedding is 27. That’s the current culture. Many, many girl’s just wanna have fun, and ride the cock carousel until they start getting a bit over the hill. That’s what young men have to deal with, although even you might admit that it ought to not be that way. The “ought” doesn’t matter, though, the facts are what matter.

As the current President inside your head, Ronaldus Magnus, once said: “Facts are stubborn things”.

Most college guys that you are telling “Go buy that new Vega!” to do not have that option. They do not have that option. They don’t. This is an analogy, by the way, not some literal argument.

In 5 to 8 years maybe they get to buy a used Ford Focus. This is reality, it has to be dealt with, and it’s something men need to learn about — but they won’t learn it from Boomers who are all about “ought! Ought! OUGHT!” and pretending it’s still 1982….like you and Art.

You two are living in the past and pretending that nothing has changed. That’s why your “OUGHT” is worse than useless, it’s actually dangerous to young men. Because you want them to believe in falsehoods and reject reality. A recipe for disaster, and those do happen. One can see them in the manosphere with sad regularity.

Here are some facts for you guys. Look at the lines, and compare 1980 with 2020. See any difference?

    https://www.census.gov/content/dam/Census/library/visualizations/time-series/demo/families-and-households/ms-2.pdf

This is the reality that you, Art and others can’t deal with. Your lack of understanding, your “OUGHT!” doesn’t change the reality. But that lack of understand does lead to bad advice based on fantasy and “OUGHT”.

Fortunately the vast majority of commenters and readers here are over 50, so it’s not like you are having any effect on guys under 30.

The girls don’t agree with you. Maybe you could set them straight! Start a YT channel? Go to a campus and stand on the sidewalk with a sign handing out pamphlets? Something besides mumbling in comments on an obscure website that is mainly read by people over 50?

    lol @ White Knights.

The average age of a US girl on the day of her first marriage is 27, whether you like it or not.

Because the facts don’t care about your feelze.

Old books from the library and outdoor exercise provide free, wholesome entertainment.

Use college as vocational training if need be, but don’t expect a classic liberal arts education from our debased institutions of higher indoctrination. Pursuing a degree in the humanities or social sciences in 2021 USA is folly. Also, don’t pay for the prestige of a famous school’s name. They teach the same calculus at community college and Harvard.
