Spotify CEO Defends Keeping Transphobic Joe Rogan Podcasts Online

Multiple sources inside Spotify described an all-hands meeting in which Spotify CEO Daniel Ek discussed the company’s handling of the controversial podcaster.

By Joseph Cox

September 16, 2020, 11:15am

In a Spotify all-hands company meeting on Wednesday, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek defended keeping transphobic content from hugely popular podcaster Joe Rogan on the audio platform, who earlier this year signed an exclusive licensing deal with the company likely worth tens of millions of dollars. …

One of the submitted questions was “Many LGBTQAI+/ally Spotifiers feel unwelcome and alienated because of leadership’s response in JRE conversations. What is your message to those employees?” Another was “Why has Spotify chosen to ignore Spectrum ERG’s guidance about transphobic content in the JRE catalog?,” referring to a group of Spotify workers who focus on related issues. …

The specific episode of the Joe Rogan Experience Ek was referring to was from July, in which Rogan interviewed Abigail Shrier, author of the book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters, according to one of the sources. From the opening moments of that podcast, Shrier associates transgender youth with those with autism; Shrier and Rogan spend parts of the episode explaining that young people are being pressured into transitioning by YouTube and other media.

“You realize that people are not looking at this objectively,” Rogan said in the podcast. “They are activists and they have this agenda, and the agenda is very ideologically driven that anybody who even thinks they might be trans should be trans, are trans, and the more trans people the better.”

In the book, Shrier invalidates the lived experience of trans people by comparing transitioning to adolescent phenomena like eating disorders, self-harm, or the occult, according to Men’s Health. She also described wanting to transition as a “contagion” with the potential to infect other children, an entirely scientifically baseless idea, Men’s Health noted.

… At the time of writing, the Shrier episode is on Spotify. The company has made content moderation decisions to not port several other older JRE episodes to the platform, however. Episodes #911 and #1255, both of which feature Alex Jones, are not hosted on Spotify. In 2018, Spotify removed Alex Jones’ own podcast from its platform for “hate content.” Spotify is also not hosting episodes in which Rogan interviewed far-right personalities Gavin McInnes and Chuck Johnson.

The Spotify catalog does include episodes featuring Stefan Molyneux, who the Southern Poverty Law Center says amplifies “scientific racism,” and who was banned from YouTube earlier this year for hate speech.

In another recent episode, Rogan explained a joke he made in 2016 about Caitlyn Jenner’s transition, describing Jenner as “he” and using her deadname “Bruce.” Rogan also mischaracterized the reason for Jenner’s transition, saying it may have been because she was around her daughters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, that he describes as “crazy bitches.”

Here’s a good thread from Shrier:

The transgender lobby’s power to shut down criticism is truly remarkable.

Interestingly, the transgender lobby teamed up in 2003-2005 with the Southern Poverty Law Center to try to use similar tactics to destroy anybody who gave a positive review to Northwest U. psychologist J. Michael Bailey’s book The Man Who Would Be Queen. But, while ruthless, high IQ people like Professors McCloskey and Conway could make themselves into pests, they and Morris Dees were too far ahead of their time with their cancel crusade to totally succeed: it remained a fringe brouhaha.

So what changed over the next decade to make it that in 2020 you have to be as rich and popular as Joe Rogan or J.K. Rowling to have a fighting chance against the T Lobby?

Do you ever get the impression that historians aren’t providing much analysis of the 21st Century, that they are just too scared to explore recent events?

Update: Media trying to cover for Biden’s transgender gaffe:

From the New York Times news section:

Disinformation Moves From Social Networks to Texts

By Cade Metz

Last week, a political action committee called the American Principles Project unveiled a new video on Twitter falsely claiming that Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden Jr. supported sex changes for 8-year-olds.

Since Friday, a similar video has also appeared on Facebook as many as 100,000 times — primarily in Michigan, a swing state in the Nov. 3 election.

What has been harder to pinpoint is how widely the video has been spreading through text messages.

Though companies like Facebook and Twitter have developed tools for tracking and policing disinformation on their social networks, texting activity is largely a free-for-all that receives little scrutiny from tech companies and government regulators.

“There is no way to audit this,” said Jacob Gursky, a research associate at the University of Texas at Austin. “Organizations are just collecting cellphone numbers from data brokers and mass-texting people.”

The video circulated in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania as part of a coordinated texting campaign, according to a study by researchers at the University of Texas at Austin. Over the weekend, it reached a reporter who covers online disinformation for the news site Protocol. The reporter had a Pennsylvania cellphone number.

Twisting the meaning of Mr. Biden’s statements during a recent “town hall” event — which condemned discrimination against children who identify as transgender but did not address sex changes — the campaign was a high-profile example of increasingly widespread efforts to distribute disinformation through text messages.

The NYT didn’t have the courage to quote Biden in full, who said:

HAECK: I’m good, thank you. I’m the proud mom of two girls, 8 and 10. My youngest daughter is transgender. The Trump administration has attacked the rights of transgender people, banning them from military service, weakening non discrimination protections and even removing the word transgender from some government websites.

How will you as president reverse this dangerous and discriminatory agenda and insure that the lives and rights of LGBTQ people are protected under U.S. law?

BIDEN: I will flat out just change the law. Every — eliminate those executive orders, number one. You may recall I’m the guy who said — I was raised by a man who I remember I was being dropped off, my — my dad was a high school educated, well read man who was a really decent guy.

And I was being dropped off to get an application in the center of our city; Wilmington, Delaware, the corporate capital of the world at the time. And these two men, I’m getting out to get an application to be a lifeguard in the African American community because there was a big swimming pool complex.

And these two men, well dressed, leaned up and hugged one another and kissed one another. And I’m getting out of the car at the light and I turn to my dad. My dad looked at me and said Joey, it’s simple. They love each other.

The idea that an 8-year-old child or a 10-year-old child decides, you know I decided I want to be transgender. That’s what I think I’d like to be. It would make my life a lot easier. There should be zero discrimination.

And what’s happening is too many transgender women of color are being murdered. They’re being murdered. And I think it’s up now to 17, don’t hold me to that number. But it’s — it’s higher now?

HAECK: Yes.

BIDEN: And that’s just this year. And so I promise you there is no reason to suggest that there should be any right denied your daughter or daughters, whichever one or two …

HAECK: One.

BIDEN: … one, your daughter — that your other daughter has a right to be and do. None, zero. And by the way, my son Bo, passed away; he was the attorney general in the state of Delaware. He was the guy who got the first transgender passed in the state of Delaware and because of a young man who became a woman who worked for him in the attorney general offices.

Back to the NYT;

“During a recent town hall, Joe Biden endorsed giving 8- to 10-year-olds sex change treatments,” the texts read. “This is way too extreme for me. I can’t support him.”

The texts tracked by Mr. Gursky and his fellow researchers said they were sent by the American Principles Project, but they referred to the organization only as “the APP PAC.” The texts purport to arrive from a “Democratic volunteer.”

It is good to know that 12 year Olds (or what age? ) can consent to have their organs cut off, but even 17 year olds could not consent to having them lovingly touched in natural ways.

Should it not be the other way around?

I always thought Obama’s bizarre crusade to get trannies in the military stemmed from the fact that he was owned, in part, by the mega-powerful Pritzgers. Jennifer is probably still fighting for her right to party.

Jennifer Natalya Pritzker (born James Nicholas Pritzker; August 13, 1950) is an American investor, philanthropist, and member of the Pritzker family. Pritzker retired as a lieutenant colonel from the United States Army in 2001, and was later made an honorary Colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard. Founder of the Tawani Foundation in 1995, Tawani Enterprises in 1996, and the Pritzker Military Library in 2003, Pritzker has been devoted to civic applications of inherited and accrued wealth, including significant donations to broaden understanding and support for “citizen soldiers.”

In August 2013, Pritzker released a statement to individuals associated with two business and philanthropic organizations that subsequently received wide media coverage, indicating the change from “J.N.” to “Jennifer Natalya” to reflect her status as a transgender woman, making her the first and only openly transgender billionaire.

Steve’s content is great. But one also comes here to read the reactions and comments. And the ability to engage Steve’s content and engage other commenters is an incentive to read both. Two years after the New York Times published an op-ed from what they described as an anonymous, principled conservative “senior administration official,” it turned out to have been written by a low-level bureaucrat who later worked for tech giant Google and gave money to far-left Democrats.

  14. It is strange that TG lobby’s power is so, eh, powerful.

With gays & bisexuals it is somehow “normal” to group and act, but TG are so “transient” by nature that they seem a highly atypical category. Then, they are minuscule: I guess gays are 100,000 or even 1,000,000 times more numerous.

To me, they are like Dadaists. Cubists & Expressionists were really “about” something; Dadaists were “about” nothing. And yet, they did exist, for some time. So- whence power? I think TGs are useful idiots for cultural revolutionary elites which are basically nihilist (unlike, say, Communists & Nazis). A decadent society at any stage of dissolution has its own sacred cows & fixations, and TGs have just carved out a niche for themselves.

Let’s not forget that they are not new as a cultural-historical phenomenon. Many things revolve around Eros, and TGs are old & universally acknowledged erotic group – unlike, say, erotic foot binding in China, which was a durable, but regional phenomenon (basically, weirder than TGs).

And some of these letters remain a mystery. Q is for queer, but, as I said, puzzled: how queers queer? I is, I think, for Intersex, which are old hermaphrodites. But, what A stands for?

  15. Only a year or two ago I read a feminist website which said the motive behind the transgender-forever movement was to get the average person scared of even acknowledging the truth, let alone saying it. At the time I thought this was a bit far fetched and paranoid. Now I think she was a lot more perceptive than the rest of us. I don’t normally subscribe to the notion that there’s a ‘They’ controlling things but I cannot accept the rapidity and totality of the success of the transgender activists without supposing some powerful bodies are behind them.

  16. There are not enough trangender people to have this kind of influence. The influence comes from their “allies.”

So, the real question is: why does the “transgender community” have so many “allies,” who are largely fairly young, commonly female, college-educated people?

The short answer is that we are seeing “youth rebellion.” But why are young adults, who are no longer children, rebelling against simple facts of human biology? After all, youth rebellion used to consist of playing obnoxious music, wearing annoying clothing, etc., not rebelling against human biology. I remember the ’60s counter-culture: far from rebelling against human biology, they were rather overly exuberant about it!

Perhaps the answer is that young adults in our society, especially women, are being denied their own natural biological urges. Little girls naturally want to grow up to be mothers. And they naturally want a dependable man to take care of them and the kids.

But in our society we treat motherhood as, at best, a “lifestyle choice,” and a rather inconvenient one at that, a choice that tends to interfere with the more important goal of pursuing a rewarding career.

I myself do want my daughters to get a college degree in a field they can earn a living in, mainly in case they do not find Mr. Right, or, even worse, that they have kids and “Mr. Right” abandons them and the kids. But if the career becomes the be-all-and-end-all… well, it is hard to bear and raise kids and also give a hundred-and-ten percent to a career in engineering, architecture, medicine, law, business, or whatever. Just ask any woman who has tried.

And young men know that they no longer have to make the sex-for-support trade-off that men in earlier generations had to make. Men can get it for free, now.

Add in the fact that their childhood and young adulthood was taken away with jumping through pointless “educational” hoops that impart no actual useful skills, that their jobs commonly are, in Dave Graeber’s phrase, “bullshit jobs” that consist of pushing paper and manipulating words for no real human purpose, and add in Sailer’s theme of “affordable family formation”… well, the surprising thing is that adolescents and young adults in our society are not all completely stark, raving mad!

We have created a world that denies the basic needs and instincts of maturing human beings, and the result is necessarily going to be pretty dispiriting. My real question is: how will they express their pain and misery once the whole transgender thing becomes passé?

Feminism is the defeat of femininity.

An 8-figure contract that involves a public-facing individual usually comes with a bunch of boilerplate about various ways the contract can be voided based on image-soiling things the “talent” may become entangled in. So I’m sure that Spotify can cut Rogan loose if he’s caught with an underage girl. But I wonder what his contract says about having guests who are perfectly legal people but who might offend the woke?

Lawyers will be asked in the future to modify their boilerplate so it can withstand court scrutiny if they break a contract with someone for silly “Twitter is in an uproar” reasons. And expect talent to ask their lawyers to be on the watch for such loopholes. I’d want a specific enumeration of things that would invalidate the contract, and no squishy, vague language. I’d also consider a specific enumeration of things that, for example, would not end the contract.

And how about this?: Ask the company to discipline or fire employees who badmouth or leak things. I mean, free speech is only for government related speech, right? And free speech should not protect hateful speech against the talent, right? If you disagree we fire you with no severance, you get a lawyer on your own dime or with a Go Find Me, and we deal with it in court, no settlements, full appeals, and we get some legal precedent established.

I agree fully with what you wrote and would add another factor: the agenda is merely being used to gain power and settle scores. Transgenderism is an ideology. Adherents (let alone leaders) gain power as it gets traction and doubly so when they can identify “enemies” to crush. It’s like that with a lot of destructive ideologies, be they communism or radical Islam or LGBT+ whatever rights. It’s about creating “new rules” and attaining power by becoming the enforcers of the said rules and publicly humiliating and punishing those who disagree.

  24. U. Ranus says:
    @Mr. Anon

Right. Which in turn strongly suggests that some seriously moneyed people know their businesses may have been involved in making you “G” or “T” and it’s neither genes nor germs.

Winning WW-G and WW-T means it’s far less likely you can ever sue them for damages because being gay or trans isn’t damage, you Nazi, it’s normal and good and beautiful.

  25. @PhysicistDave

    Just a niggle at what you’re saying…

No young men aren’t getting “free sex” what gave you that idea? Also if “Mr. Right” abandons her and the kids (which the odds are against), most states will absolutely go to the mattresses to make sure he provides financial support, some states will even throw him in jail on the weekends if he fails to make enough money. Not saying there aren’t serious risks to mitigate, of course.

Also, the 60s sexual revolution absolutely went hand-in-glove with the gay rights movement, feminism, sexual fads, etc. They weren’t “exuberantly embracing biology”, as if they were pioneers who discovered people like sex! They were the first though to embrace a fantasy of consequence free sex, which is clearly insane. They also pioneered the idea of “youth rebellion” as a normal, natural phenomenon, as if it’s natural for young people to automatically hate their parents, hate their history, refuse to listen to anyone over 30 as the saying went, and abandon religion.

You’re right about a lot of what you say, and as much as I hate that it’s so necessary, women do need to be far more prepared for an economically harsh world. I also hate that those “rewarding careers” are almost totally certain to be way more meaningless in the long term than raising one child to be happy, wise, good, and strong. Shoot they’re usually more meaningless and less fulfilling in the short term. Who told us that being an HR Specialist III at GloboCorp was a more meaningful life, than producing new human life?

Sounds strange, but the billionaires of old seem like more robust men. Maybe that’s an illusion I don’t know. But when you look at guys like Jack Dorsey or Mark Zuckerberg, it’s hard to imagine them tolerating a John Wayne type male in their presence. So, they select ever less masculine figures to be around them and more LGBTQ types get close to power.

However, apparently gays have always been good at working their way up a power structure. Didn’t royal courts have a bunch of them? So maybe it’s just a function of America becoming a more rigidly hierarchal society.

Do big powerful men, regardless of how manly they are, dislike having other robust men around them? Military commanders seem to like real men, but maybe that’s because their lives depend on it. Salesmen like to pal around with other braggart types too.

Correct. The “transgenders” are just pawns used by the Left against its enemies.

I had an adjunct teaching job at a junior college for quite a few years. After several years, I was told by a member of the faculty that leftist members of the department had heard rumors that I was conservative and were trying to get rid of me. But they didn’t have a reason to do so, because my evaluations and credentials were excellent. So they started playing games with my schedule. That didn’t work either — I taught the sections I was assigned.

Then one day I was accused of “misgendering” a transgender by using the wrong pronouns. It was true, I did, but it was an honest mistake. How the hell am I supposed to know what gender you are if you’re trying to look like something you aren’t?

In any case it gave them the pretext to have a formal complaint filed filed with Human Resources and commence an “investigation.” The department removed me from the schedule immediately before the bogus “investigation” even began.

“Transgenderism” is just another weapon (like “sexual harassment” and “discrimination” and “racism”) for the Left to use against normies and conservatives.

Perhaps this strategy wouldn’t work as well for a media company like Spotify, but management ought to consider it. Its SJW employees want to kill the goose who lays the golden eggs.

Obvious war on white femininity driven by you-know-who. The aggressive female-to-male transitions (mastectomy, hormones, etc.) are overwhelmingly depressed white women, who study liberal arts or go to art/fashion school, where anti-White hatred is a cornerstone of the curriculum.

The initial political push for transgenderism was entirely engineered from the top down in the 2010’s. There is no question this was overwhelmingly a Jewish effort. Perhaps some of this was due to coethnic sympathy for crossdressing Jewish males or just the overall Jewish tendency towards sexual deviance and dysfunction. But mostly it was a useful wedge issue to politically browbeat and humiliate traditional whites.

Whenever there are groups of gay men and/or Jews in positions of influence, they will go out of their way to attack traditional notions of femininity. Impossible not to notice in fashion.

Two guys often credited with inventing rituxan, the first really successful monoclonal antibody, which I got in a clinical trial when I had non-Hodgkins lymphatic cancer in 1997, are Ronald Levy (Jewish) and Nabil Hanna (Palestinian). It would be fun if they won the Nobel together.

But, there are probably a dozen other people also with a decent claim to having helped invent rituximab/rituxan. The drug probably earned 11 digits in revenue before going off patent a few years ago, thus the number of very smart researchers making contributions to its development was huge.

Are these people just further experiments to him? He also seems to gloss over using all these drugs in off label fashion. He seems almost proud of it and repeats the insane line about ‘puberty blockers’ (Off label use, they are mostly used to treat cancers or in HRT) having no permanent effects.

He claims he has seen just one case that might be described as ‘ROGD’ (Which may be true for him and his practice that almost all of them he sees have some kind of abnormality that makes them very unfeminine girls) and does the ‘male/female brain trapped in a female/male body’ silliness and the suicide nonsense.

Interestingly he does break the narrative when talking about increased risk compensation and promiscuity of those patients on PREP. Starts 1hr 39 mins.

He also notes that while his white MtF patients are indifferent to the loss of erections from hormone therapy his black MtF patients are really adamant about keeping them.

All in all it seems this mass experiment on mostly adolescent white girls and some boys of Northern European ancestry will yield a lot of information on the human endocrine system and puberty.

I’ve become much less interested in reading isteve since Steve and Ron imposed their latest restrictions on commenting under an “anonymous” handle. Now, an anonymous commenter is limited to three posts per day.

If you use a VPN you can just switch to a server in a different city and the comment will go through. You don’t need to change the email address and you can submit from the same page that just got rejected by clicking the back button. A VPN with 100 or more cities costs about $5.00 a month and has many uses, especially if you live outside the U.S.

You could also use Tor Browser available from torproject.org. This is an idiotproof, juiced-up Firefox that has Tor built in. It sends you through three obfuscated servers in a row and the final server is all Unz will see. You can click to cycle through three different servers for the next post. This may not work if a lot of other Unz users also use it.

Ron could make both of these workarounds not work if he put his mind to it, but he seems to feel that his Pareto Law 20 percent effort to solve 80 percent of the problem is enough.

You can also tunnel Tor through the VPN. This hides from your ISP and from your company/school that you are using Tor, and hides from the target site who you are … as long as you do not otherwise identify yourself. The VPNs are probably compromised to the NSA and police requests, but Tor is very NSA resistant. They can break it if they really want to, but most of the time the Tor Project can detect shenanegans and warn people about it. The Snowden documents debunked rumors that Tor was completely compromised. If you read of compromises they are usually related to a side project called Tor Hidden Services, the technology that the Silk Road dark web marketplace used. The Tor Browser is not the same thing.

The progressive/left political coalition boils down to two emotions – victimhood, and savior/ally. One of the reasons I went from actually working for a Democratic politician to abandoning the party altogether is that it was apparent to me that the party was committed to atomizing society for political gain.

Transgenderism is not really about the people with this disorder themselves – since there aren’t that many – but about creating a new victim group people can rally around.

  55. Anonymous[277] • Disclaimer says:

The transgender lobby has benefited immensely from being grafted onto the pre-existing gay lobby (Human Rights Campaign etc). The gay lobby is well funded and aggressive and effective; with the legalization of gay marriage they lost most of their raison d’être so trans issues are useful if only to give them a reason to keep the lights on and to keep fundraising. That so many ostensibly “trans” women are personally aggressive and assertive and monomaniacal is also to their benefit; it’s the stereotypically masculine traits of these so-called women that have allowed them to accrue so much power so quickly.

More generally the trans phenomenon speaks to the psychology of the American left and to their propaganda techniques. The foundational principle is classism. For decades the left has created an association between having conservative beliefs and being poor, uneducated, uncouth and generally low class (the trailer-dwelling Klanasman is the archetype here). Most Americans have a terrible fear of being perceived as poor and low class, especially if they’re only tenuously middle class. I think a lot of this anxiety is economic in nature: America’s relative lack of social-safety net and lack of upward mobility make people hesitant to express (or even hold) “wrong” opinions, lest they lose their jobs and economic security and cast their families into a socio-economic pit from which they may never be able to emerge.

So the American left preys on people’s insecurities. And, at base, they enjoy humiliating their opposition. They enjoy grinding the faces of the conservatives–and spitting on their values–for its own sake. Imagine some stereotypical “Archie Bunker” type of person, and ask what would make him angry? That’s what the American left supports. And just as quickly as they get the grudging acceptance of their opposition, they move on to the next thing. In the 70s they made a big push for women’s sports, supposedly to benefit women; now in 2020 they’re destroying women’s sports by allowing transgender men to compete alongside women. There is no loyalty here.

They dangle liberalism so people equate it with ‘freedoms’, and then snare them into supporting fully Leftist marxist ideology.

These ‘Social Justice Organisations’ have endless legal backing from other Jewish organisations like The Southern Poverty Law Centre which incidentally has just launched a lawsuit against legislation designed to stop transsexual competing in women sports. Can you imagine anything more ridiculous or less important to spend time and money on. Yet, this is the reality of allowing ‘quasi-Israel organisations’ like the ADL to act as moral guardians for web and media content.

There are teams of overpaid researchers endlessly analysing and looking for situations to exploit and then litigate for alleged ‘micro-aggressions’ against minorities , gays and trans. Real people with families to support and businesses to run are being targeted by these ridiculous organisations who produce nothing but bogus statistics and false moral panics to ultimately further their own political agenda.

You think Israel gives a shit about transexuals in America or black people for that matter? They are just using them to create issues they can use to weaken the enemy and promote pro-Israel policies and politicians. At the same time transexual and gay education in schools and endless focus on sexual deviancy is damaging to our children and the traditional christian way of life, our countries were founded on (and for good reason). Also encouraging single parent families which is the biggest indicator of poverty no matter what the race, does nothing but weaken and divide our society -making us ‘ripe for the taking’.

Its no coincidence every advert has a black man with a white women like our films and television shows and this new wave Netflix and Amazon style of drama featuring role-reversal feminists, racial mixing and ‘non binary’ gender benders at rates, hugely disproportionate to the population. There is obviously an agenda being pushed, and to think it just political correctness gone mad is naive and foolish -this is a direct attack on the traditional white family unit and its disgusting.

Why is it always Jewish organisations, judges, politicians at the forefront of uber liberal policies? Again its not just a coincidence. The Jewish Caucus in California has just voted in legislation to protect same sex padeofiles from being put in the Sex Register- if there is an age gap of less than 5 years (Google it for factcheck). They say its nothing to do with child abuse and purely to protect gay rights, but it seems a very strange thing to vote in 6/6 in favour as apposed to legislation that may actually protect a child – particularly in California where there is rampant homelessness and drug abuse, so children are at risk -yet they focus on more rights for Gay men?

How many more rights can we give to these people? All Jews do is whine and demand more from us. We are at a point where to post a story on Palestine on Facebook counts as anti-semitism. These people view as us cattle and believe they have divine right to control us, make decisions for us and ultimately use us to further the cause of Zion -at what point do we wake up and say enough is enough. Go to Zion -and stay there, you have no right to interfere!

See article below on Prizker family from National Justice –

According to research conducted by Jennifer Bilek, “Jennifer’s” money, along with other figures like fellow Jew and transsexual Martine Rothblatt, has put the wind in the sails of the transgender top-down revolution, granting it scientific and medical credibility through the power of their checkbooks, along with trained operatives who have helped institutionalize it in the corporate world. The Pritzkers are heavily invested in the world of pharmaceuticals and science.

Through the Tawani Foundation, Jennifer has been able to corrupt and influence the direction of the ACLU, various military academies, medical institutions (including for children) and universities.

In recent years, Jennifer has donated millions to the University of Minnesota Medical Department’s Human Sexuality department, carved out a “Pritzker School of Medicine” at the University of Chicago, and a “Transgender Studies” chair, handpicked by Pritzker, at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Other members of the Pritzker family donated $25 million to University of California at San Francisco’s child health department, which under the auspices of two Jews, predictably advocates for confused or ill young children to be given irreversible transsexual surgeries.

This money guarantees, in the very best case scenario, a veto on science that questions the validity of transgenderism, but often times just incentivizes these universities to produce pseudo-science in favor of it. UMN has a whole clinic dedicated to advocating in favor of and entertaining transgender insanity, targeting kids in particular. The University of Chicago’s School of Medicine has been transformed into a laboratory for macabre “gender-reassignment” human experimentation, akin to Magnus Hirschfeld’s Weimar-era house of horrors.

Certainly does not seem to be happening among black folks! And it really was not happening even among middle-class white folks back when I was young in the 1960s-’70s — I know from actual family experience: the former husband may have been expected to contribute some child support, but the former stay-at-home mom was also expected to go out and get a job (and for former housewives, the job was not usually very well-paid).

    Hoyos Hoyos also wrote:

Also, the 60s sexual revolution absolutely went hand-in-glove with the gay rights movement, feminism, sexual fads, etc. They weren’t “exuberantly embracing biology”, as if they were pioneers who discovered people like sex! They were the first though to embrace a fantasy of consequence free sex, which is clearly insane.

Having lived through it, I can assure you that the counter-culture was overwhelmingly heterosexual. Somewhere there might have been some gay hippies, but I never knew any. If anything, the gay community back then tended to be a bit bourgeois — middle-class jobs, etc. Yeah, the counter-culture types certainly did want, as you say, “consequence free sex,” but, by and large, it was heterosexual sex. And transgenderism was some weird thing that maybe some Dutch or Danish people did.

Seriously, if you can find lots of references to homosexuality or transgenderism (not just a brief mention that we should leave gay people alone, which most Americans actually did have some sympathy for) in places like the “Port Huron Statement” or The Greening of America or Revolution for the Hell of It, I’ll admit that my memory is off. But I’ll tell you that the male hippies and New Leftists as far as I could tell were indeed exuberantly heterosexual (and, from a feminist viewpoint, patriarchal male-chauvinist pigs — feminism did not fit in well with the New Left or the counter-culture).

Betty Friedan and Germaine Greer were not hippies.

I agree with you of course that the overall societal transformation goes back to the ’60s. But the particular form of youthful rebellion in the ’60s was not at all to support trangenderism, or, for that matter, gay rights. Again, I lived through it, and while I was not one of the counter-culture types myself, the standard phrase back then that summed up youthful rebellion was “drugs, sex, and rock and roll” — and it was heterosexual sex.

This is true regardless of the arena in which they’re encountered, academia, business, politics . . . There are many analogues like, say, (some) Scientologists.

Steve was definitely onto something with “World War T.” This subset is feared and loathed by everyone else, including garden-variety Trans.

I’ve long believed something universally unpopular, if you’re looking to blame someone for kicking off the last half-century’s sexual state of affairs it rests with straight guys. They didn’t just want fun on the QT with the pretty young thing half their wife’s age. They wanted to be loud and proud about it, as the kids used to say. No longer was this behavior a corporate career death sentence.

It shouldn’t have surprised that everyone else sought license for their thing.

These sharp elbow-throwing Trans are as much a consequence of ADA as gays rights. Probably more since live and let live gays and lesbians are as fed up with them as everyone else.

  68. My theory (part of which I think Steve has mentioned way back when) is that transgenderism has huge support from corporations because these organizations have substantial liability for the explosion of transgenderism. Between hormone-disrupting toxins (and indeed actual hormones) leaching into the environment and the glut of new information stimulus fracturing increasingly destabilized minds, the companies shaping our society create products and byproducts that have a lot to do with the changes we’re discussing.

These changes are imperceptible to most people because they happen on a longer timescale than the average person can process. Even the explosion of transgenderism doesn’t really register to most. There were always transgender people, and that means that there were always exactly as many as there are right now, and also it’s great that we have more now, and the more we add the better.

Plastics used in soda bottles or aluminum can linings, birth control and psychiatrics chemicals in the water supply, and the dramatic increase in the speed, intensity, and content of information transmission are messing with people. In addition to benefiting from presenting themselves as Good Corporations, they’re also covering their asses. Fewer people are going to be looking for causes (which are admittedly hard to identify and prove because the small per-incidence levels of exposure and time scales involved) when the messaging is basically that the explosion of transgenderism is Good.

That isn’t to say that this is the only cause for the Power of Transgender. There are a lot of different angles coming together on this one, as with a lot of the trends that are documented on iSteve. Trying to narrow these things down to a single cause is usually a mistake and has probably impeded the progression of proper analysis and push back against what a lot of people here might object to.

Part of the growth of the Power of Transgender comes from groups that really do believe in it ideologically. If much of gay is defined in opposition to heterosexual or normative (a word thrown around a lot by our joyful academic class), then Transgenderism is in many ways Peak Gay and therefore Peak Good. I also suspect that Capital T Transgenderism has a lot of support in Silicon Valley because many of the higher ups at these companies are transhumanists. If we’ve already normalized men turning into women, then we’ve already removed a lot of the moral, psychological, and philosophical barriers to connecting your brain to whatever neural interfaces they have in the pipes. After all, isn’t it weirder for a man to be a woman than a cyborg?\

Interestingly, the transgender lobby teamed up in 2003-2005 with the Southern Poverty Law Center to try to use similar tactics to destroy anybody who gave a positive review to Northwest U. psychologist J. Michael Bailey’s book The Man Who Would Be Queen.

The fact that the activists, media, and academics are so fanatical about this issue clearly shows that they think there is more at stake than just tolerance of a small number of eccentric individuals.

I think the real issue is the idea that differences between men and women have anything whatsoever to do with biology.

It’s all part of the greater Jewish War on Biology. If people think biology influences sex differences, that could lead to people thinking biology influences race differences… and that could lead to Another Holocaust.

That’s how they seem to see it anyway.

Jews and non-Jewish white people need to get together and have a sort of “marriage counseling” and hash this out.

Otherwise we’re just hacking at the branches of the problem and not getting to the root.

That’s my analysis anyway. The world’s complicated and I could be wrong.

I thought it was because Michael, I mean Michelle, wanted Obola to support the Trans movement.

Seriously, it’s pushed by the extremely powerful leftist gay community. They make up a huge number in media and government. Even one of Tuckers recent guests discussed how much of the Congressional staffs are gay.

Gays hire each other preferentially for high paying jobs in government and media. So the gay community gets wealthier and more powerful. No equality of hiring for the gays! And now they have decided the trannies deserve their chance – frankly because of lot of the weirder male gays like dressing up and don’t want to hide that anymore. That it impacts our young girls is a plus.

I know it is fashionable to like Rick Grenell. I think he’s a great guy too. But he and others like him are a minority in the gay community. They are like the silent Muslims who say nothing about Islamic violence. Whether it’s because they are afraid, or not powerful enough, the result is the same. Gays grow more powerful and continue to twist society.

Yet the gay revolution happened in the City of Free Love. San Fransicko, almost immediately after the summer of love. So if they weren’t the main thrust, shall we say, of the 60’s they were far and above the big winners of that decade of insanity.

Since I was a little kid, the gay agenda has been on the evening local news as far back as I remember. And that’s the early 70’s. And it was not criticized. It was celebrated, and the gays let their transgendered freak fly even then.

The plain Jane gay was the camels nose under the tent to get society comfortable with gays. But anyone who lived in the Bay Area knew what they were even then. And where they would eventually go.

  81. Deadite says:
    @RichardTaylor

Maybe. But I think the answer is simpler.

Gays hire each other into powerful positions in govt and media. Typically they don’t have kids. So they gain more power and wealth. And they have always had a subset of trannies. But now that they are in power they no longer have to hide it, but can freely force it from a position of power on society. Even the wealthy must bend over (see what I did there?) when gays control the flow of media and the regulations that can make or break even the super wealthy.

This is how the power of govt twists society. A true federalist govt wouldn’t have the power to do this. But with the increased power and centralization of power in the new gay capitals of NY and DC, I don’t know how we are to escape their influence.

These days, at least in the U.S., you get brownie points for being any sort of
LGBT – you automatically belong to a protected group, which is tantamount
to sainthood. You are classified as a victim which absolves you of all guilt.
This must feel wonderful, especially if otherwise in your life you’re a complete
mediocrity. Blaming others for your failures is very soothing to the ego. But
deep down we all know that’s false. Therefore maintaining victimhood status
requires constant vigilance, and indeed activism to convince others that
    what’s false is really true.

By the way, some people now believe that not only gays but also asexuals
are heavily overrepresented in the Catholic priesthood.

  83. @PhysicistDave

Hibernian handled the gay thing but I would add that of course the majority of what was happening was heterosexual because the majority then as now was heterosexual. But everything from the Mattachine society to pop tv like All in The Family was trying to get gay rights, transvestitism, etc. off the ground.

No, college men aren’t really getting free sex. They may “say” they are, but based on stats and reports, young people are actually having less sex in general. What’s happening is the young men at the top of the heap are getting more and more, but the average man is getting less and less. It’s fascinating really. There’s an image of college as some sort of free for all, but it’s a bit of an apex fallacy. Now if you straight up ask young men if they are sexual failures of course they’ll say no, but in the anonymity of studies or the Internet, more and more men are being left behind.

The black community is different, the issue there isn’t so much men abandoning their children so much as women kicking them out and the state can’t squeeze blood from a stone if a man doesn’t have a job.

In WA, the State Superintendent of Education who put together the proposed curriculum to go with that bill received only 40% of votes in the primaries, with 5 Republican challengers who all opposed the bill. In the November election, his (R) challenger stated in the voter’s pamphlet that he’s pushing to teach children “sexual positions” by 4th grade. He sued for slander, the WA state supreme court just ruled that it was not slander.

Republicans and a group of conservative parents in Eastern WA (God bless them) also helped put up the bill for vote as a Referendum this Nov. giving voters a chance to veto it. This same bill came up a few years back and was shot down by a (R) controlled state senate, but a King County (D) senator brought it back to life this year and a (D) controlled senate and house pushed it through, (D) governor Jay Inslee signed it into law despite pleas by hundreds of parents who showed up at the public hearings urging them to drop it. I sincerely hope anger about this bill alone cost the (D) at least the senate this year.

I think the trans lobby consist of people who have the most to benefit from this — LGBTQ activists funded by the pharmaceutical industry who profit from selling of more beta blockers, hormonal drugs, antidepressants; the cottage industry of “mental health professionals” and “sex change specialists” who benefit from more victims. Perhaps the real reason behind the apparent power of “transgenders” is the utter irrationality of the whole concept.

If our establishment and ruling class can force the majority into accepting this nonsense they will have succeeded in so demoralizing the mass of people that in the future, which our current rulers are planning, total control will be much easier.

    >And young men know that they no longer have to make the sex-for-support trade-off that men in earlier generations had to make. Men can get it for free, now.

I can’t speak for the 1980s, but in 2020, that really depends on the young man. Some are getting laid more than ever, others are more celibate than a 8th Century Byzantine monk and are none too happy about it. Of course, part of that is just life: if you are a man, you gotta learn to bring something to the table. But part of that is also that the bar to partake in hookups has radically increased for men with the proliferation of online dating apps.

Across the board, though, I get the sense that my generation is having *way* less sex than our parents did at a similar age, for reasons that are pretty obvious: more socioeconomic insecurity and neuroticism combined with less social skills and free time. (Also: less attractiveness, at least below the haute bourgeoisie.) There’s also a surprising conservative streak among many young adults these days relative to the previous generation: not in the wait-until-marriage sense, but in a general preference for long-term stable partners over hookups. I think the divorces a lot of our parents went through impacted us, NGL.

    >well, the surprising thing is that adolescents and young adults in our society are not all completely stark, raving mad!

Speaking as someone from that generation, if there’s one benefit to discovering that your entire life has been a lie, it is your hellbent determination to not get fooled again.

Not only did she get cancelled but the naked women’s circle got cancelled and everybody is pretending it never happened and the top west coast lesbian pagan priestess never existed.

  101. nebulafox says:
    @Reg Cæsar

I think it is very simple. There are two basic realities that no amount of social conditioning are ever going to erase.

    1) Most heterosexual women like confident, dominant men, even if they feel intense pressure not to say so and feel confused about the gap between what they actually like and what they feel they should like. And unfortunately for women, they are heavily pressured to also be “nice” and to be agreeable, regardless of how they actually feel.

    2) Men don’t have the luxury of taking it for granted that they’ll have access to companionship by virtue of just being there. One of the reasons men tend to respond deeply negatively to the perceived gap between what women say and do is that they can less afford to get the question wrong. There’s also a communication gap here: men are just not nor will ever be good at detecting hidden, subtle secondary meanings, but women have to deal with the reality of talking to someone who can physically overpower them if things turn ugly.

As a side note, one thing I have observed is how genuinely *awful* both young women and young men seem to be at getting how different the other’s experience in love/sex is. I’ve had a weird experience in being in the “woman’s” traditional position in terms of being desired for a bit, and it was eye-opening: made me a lot more sympathetic and understanding for what women go through. It also made me realize how much of an idiot I was when I was younger and encouraged me to start cleaning up my act.

But it goes both ways. I’ve seen many 4-5ish/10 women talk on and on about how if they were guys they’d go on a huge promiscuous streak because they wouldn’t be “slut shamed” by other women anymore. They were completely oblivious to the reality that if they were male, they would be lucky to find long-term partners at all, let alone casual sex, and that people in general would not give two figs about their existence.

One more thing that goes back to the discussion of white guilt, or what I call white embarrassment. When normal people see pathetic, self-destructive behavior we no longer challenge or confront it, we turn away in embarrassment for that person — a homeless nutjob, a black looter, and now someone so deeply disturbed that they would not just dress in drag but actually mutilate themselves to live out their personal fantasy. 110. There are of course a lot of reasons, but a few that I haven’t seen many mentioned and are not specific to transgenderism, but also apply to the racial and other hysterias:

1.) People are economically precarious in general, and doubly so for young people. Not in a historic sense, no, people have much more material stuff than at other times in history. In a relative to the last generation sense, yes. They are having much more trouble affording homes, starting families, etc., than their parents, and many are looking at downward mobility.

Historically, in such an environment you start to see hysterical behavior and witch-burnings. When the harvest fails and starvation is a possibility, that’s when you see this sort of thing happen. This is a modern version of that.

2.) Adding to point 1, not only are many people economically precarious, they much more economically interdependent than in the past. 100 years ago my grandfather was responsible for growing his own food, building and maintaining his own house 100%. In a lot of ways that sucked–he had to poop in an outhouse, among other things. On the other hand, he had a degree of freedom that I could only dream of. Unless the braying mob wanted to schlep out to his little homestead there was not much they could do to him. Whereas today you can get someone fired, and essentially make them un-hireable in the future.

The sort of precariousness that my grandfather experienced had to do with the weather, pests, wild animals, etc., so not surprisingly he feared God. The sort of precariousness people experience today is of a different sort and so people fear SJWs.

Anyway, my point is this sort of economic environment lends itself to these sorts of hysterias.

If I could rewind my life, meet my wife a few years earlier, get married younger and have a couple more kids than I do now at the cost of having missed out on a few sexual experiences that ended up going nowhere, I would take it in a heartbeat–I think you can live a very satisfied life with only one sexual partner, but I think it is quite difficult to be satisfied without a robust family life. At least personally, for me. (not that I missed out on kids, but I would have liked a few more.)

For men, sex without commitment has been no doubt easier to come by from the mid-1960s on – I don’t think anyone would deny that. Where men pay is in the long-term relationships that they eventually want too. The State is back-up husband to every married woman. You don’t seem to know how badly the average man gets screwed in a divorce. I don’t understand how you don’t know this.

It’s much harder for a man to find a young lady he can be confident won’t screw him over later on because “not happy”. It is on a whim that she can take away his kids. He may have put a lot of sweat equity into the house, but he can be sent out at any time. The welfare state, much of which has been part of the feminist agenda, is responsible.

The damage done to both men and women by feminism cannot be counteracted easily. You bring up an example, like commenter Rosie always does, of having a back-up way of making money for a woman. Well, that’s because men are not so committed. Why would they be – they can get screwed at any time? It’s hard to back this stuff up, see?

Calling yourself non-binary, etc., is a desperate attempt to justify oneself. It allows you to avoid responsibility for your feelings of inadequacy and forms a tribe where you can reassure yourself that such a strategy has hope. On the other end, there are narcissists eager to show they can create their own standards. It’s been tried before, and it’s as delusional as if a cow wanted to be a bull or visa versa.

    1. Jewish nepotism is high, perhaps higher than for most other US white ethnic groups. This is certainly so in business, politics, entertainment, media, ….

    2. in exact sciences Jews boast of their high achievement.

    3. many people say that Jewish high proportion presence among prestigious exact prizes (Nobel, Lasker, Fields, Turing, Wolf, Abel, Kyoto, …) is due to their clannish nepotist preferences for their co-ethnics. A subtler variant is that while those Jews who got 20-25% of these prizes may have deserved them, but their proportion should have been much lower because white Gentiles should have gotten them, too, in higher percentage, but they are somehow “pushed out” by Jewish clannish manipulations. In essence, it boils down to: basically no Nobel-worthy Jew was overlooked, but many white Gentiles have been, hence creating a distorted optical illusion of Jewish higher achievement.

    4. but, it can easily be seen that there are tons of both white Gentiles and Jews who got overlooked. This is random. There is no conspiracy of ethnic preference in high valued exact sciences awards.

Were you saying Leonardo was asexual? I don’t know about Newton, but this I got just be googling, and I’d read more or less the same last year in the book Young Leonardo by Jean-Pierre Isbouts. In 1476, a week before his 24th birthday, Leonardo, along with three other young men, were anonymously accused of committing sodomy with a 17-year-old male prostitute named Jacopo Saltarelli. … Two years after the sodomy accusations, he drew in his notebook a doodle of an older man and young boy facing each other.

Anyway, that’s likely enough to prove Leonardo was, at most, latently homosexual but did not act on his desires (as Freud concluded, but based on wrong ‘bird symbolism’. The wiki on his ‘Personal Life’, because so many writers differ in their opinion of this. It includes Leonardo’s ‘disgust at the act of procreation’, but others said he was ‘actively homosexual’, including art historian Kenneth Clark. I suppose the ones who think he was active could be right, and that he could have been, while declaring ‘procreation disgusting’–a little extreme, but it could follow, because there could be such a thing as active homosexuality and loathing of ‘what makes babies’.

Was surprised to see this many varying opinions, and don’t remember another reference to his sexuality in Isbouts’s book, but I do think it does not fall under what it now called ‘asexual’. (Which sounds almost as bad as tranny, but requires a lot less maintenance, it would seem. I always think trannies never talk about anything else but their ‘current sexual status’. Even if they do, they always seem to want to talk about that at least 1/3 of the time (thinking of a scientist I saw interviewed on Charlie Rose some years ago, but he was part of a group–and the subject was trannydom…so…I guess I don’t know of any trannies talking about anything else.)

Well, I suppose lots of correct ideas are “scientifically baseless” until peer-reviewed studies based on sufficiently large sample sizes confirm them, but I am virtually positive that transmania among today’s teen girls is “contagious” in the sense that it sweeps through groups of friends (first one girl starts identifying as male or non conforming or whatever, and within months a few of her friends are doing the same).

A family member of mine is a teacher at an all girls’ high school, and in recent years they’ve routinely had 4-6 girls per grade, almost always members of the same social group, begin identifying as trans. This *never* happened before maybe 2014-15, but now there’s a perennial blooming of transgender hysteria at the school. It’s extremely sad that adults can’t simply do the adult thing and tell the kids, “it’s just a phase, it’ll pass, things will get better for you,” etc.

As to where the power of the transgender lobby comes from, I have no idea, but leftists have been at war for decades with the idea that human nature has a biological basis. Transmania obviously plays neatly into that worldview. There’s also the “propaganda is meant to humiliate” take on it. A tall dude with an Adam’s apple who’s wearing a pink dress and hectoring you in a basso profundo about how despicable you are for invalidating his lived experience as a woman until you finally break down and apologize is possibly more humiliating than any technique for obtaining a confession dreamt up by Stalin and Beria. Which has been great for Ts, who as the cuckoos of progressivism have been able to divert other groups for their benefit instead of forming their own. The LGB groups used to argue that being attracted to the same sex was normal, now LGBTs argue that it’s evidence of a deep rooted brain body imbalance that must be surgically corrected.

Yeah, a whole lot of politics comes down to status signaling. People adopt new political positions like they’re trying on new clothes. How do you stand out from the herd without becoming an object of ridicule? That’s the question. You have to say something a bit outlandish that, for whatever reason, makes other cognoscenti say, “hmm… he might be onto something,” and once they’re parroting your opinions, you know you’ve made it.

On the other hand, once too many morons adopt a certain political position, whatever its merits, you become reluctant to express it. That was my own experience with progressive politics around 2010-11. Suddenly all these mouth breathers I’d known since high school who had never been politically active were posting to Facebook, “WE MUST FIGHT BIGOTRY,” etc. To say the least, my ardor for progressive politics began to cool. Heterosexual promiscuity is hard to pinpoint. What isn’t difficult is heterosexual practices have included, when affordable, most or all of the same things homosexuals and lesbians have always practice. They all go back to time immemorial, and I remember some commenter elsewhere some years ago saying that men and women didn’t practice fellatio, cunnilingus, and/or sodomy till the 60s. That’s thoroughly ignorant, just not in strict households. Some of these are in my own family. Couples who have never done anything but missionary position sex, and don’t even think about the other things, but looser heterosexual couples definitely do all of it, and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t. Maybe ‘heterosexual promiscuity’ became more prevalent in the 60s–you rarely find virgins for a couple of generations (although both my sisters were when the married)–and there definitely has been a lot more ‘sleeping around’ than there was in America in the 50s. Although there was certainly quite a lot already. Surprised to find that in the UK, there were far more virgins till married than in the U.S. But I shouldn’t be. America has always specialized in some form of decadence.

But the SEXUAL ACTS are definitely not homosexual any more than they are heterosexual–it’s quite simple: Both do them and always have. It’s other configurations that make people not want to bring up that heterosexual couples suck each other off and some girls like to be sodomized.

For decades the left has created an association between having conservative beliefs and being poor, uneducated, uncouth and generally low class (the trailer-dwelling Klanasman is the archetype here). Most Americans have a terrible fear of being perceived as poor and low class, especially if they’re only tenuously middle class.

    “Transgenderism is an ideology.”

You are not allowed to say this. A while ago a helpful person pointed me to two websites that explain that “transgender ideology” is an offensive term, used only by the extreme right. The proper term is “transgender issues,” the set of claims and demands made by transgender people. I was trying to refind the links to place here, but it was taking too long. But anyway, “transgender ideology” implies that transgender issues are just a matter of opinion, like liberal, conservative, socialist, ideologies. But transgenderism is based on science, not ideology. No one in good faith can disagree with science. Hence, the term “transgender ideology” is hate speech.

There are lots of websites with instructions on proper LGBTQ terminology. These daring sexual nonconformists expect perfect linguistic conformity from others. “Gender ideology” is also problematic. It’s another term used only by the extreme right, I learned. Came across several links. Here is helpful advice from the Soros Foundation: https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/voices/gender-ideology-fiction-could-do-real-harm

I also discovered that science has shown that heteronormativity is an ideology: Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences; Volume 34, August 2020, Pages 160-165; Not quite over the rainbow: the unrelenting and insidious nature of heteronormative ideology

Well, that’s because men are not so committed. Why would they be – they can get screwed at any time? It’s hard to back this stuff up, see?

Yes, I agree, and I agree with most of the other responses to my post.

The social and sexual revolutions that started in the ’60s have not served either males or females (and similarly either blacks or whites) well.

And it did not have to be that way.

Sex roles and attitudes in the late ’50s were unnecessarily rigid. Jim Crow was pointlessly cruel. And the attitudes towards gays were simply bizarre — Liberace, for example, who was obviously gay, was quite popular with the general public, but everyone, including Liberace himself, had to pretend he was not gay, even though everyone knew otherwise.

We could have said, “Sure, women can be doctors or lawyers,” while still recognizing that most women want to be full-time mothers, and that that is a very honorable choice.

We could have said that a gay musician or engineer or architect should be judged by his skill in music or engineering or architecture, without celebrating homosexuality per se (which is actually demeaning to successful people who happen to be gay — it reduces them to their sexuality).

And we could have judged people as individuals instead of by their race.

That alternate path that we could have followed is actually the obvious, common-sense path that was favored by the majority of Americans at the time (I remember).

So, why did we go awry?

Largely, I think because government had become much more powerful from the Progressive Era through the New Deal and up to the Great Society, and the governmental leviathan was just sitting there for pressure groups to take over and impose their agendas upon the majority of their fellow citizens.

And also, by the middle of the twentieth century, we had a strange situation in which the mass media had learned how to propagandize the populace, and if a pressure group could exert influence over the media, then they could numb the general populace.

What I do want to emphasize is that what went wrong is complicated and multi-faceted, and anyone who wants to fix things needs to understand the details of what went wrong. It just is not true that the civil rights movement or feminism was simply evil in every way. If that had been the case, Americans would not have acquiesced in their demands.

No, somehow what started out as some valid complaints ended up restructuring our society in ways that has harmed almost everyone.

And we need to know what happened.

Well, I think you may over-estimate the amount of sex young single guys were getting in the ’50s and early ’60s, before the sexual revolution. One reason guys got married pretty young back then was that that was pretty much the best way to have regular sex.

From what I hear from college kids today, you are right that there is a huge gap between the “successful” guys and the not-so-successful guys. And since the culture sends the signal that all guys should be getting whatever they want, that leads to serious and dangerous pathologies among some of those not-so-successful guys. (By “not-so-successful,” I mean in terms of the college sexstakes. A lot of those “failures” would actually make the best future fathers, husbands, and productive citizens.)

We have created a culture that is catastrophic for our young people, and this may end up destroying our society. Young people have the time and energy to tear things down, and when they get the message that they cannot lead long-term productive and rewarding lives… well, bad things happen.

Well, as you know, we do not actually have a successful “unified field theory” even in physics. There is the sort-of-unified “electroweak force.” And then there is the strong force. And why does Nature need the Higgs particle? And how does gravity fit in at all?

Reality has, as you say, “lots of moving parts.”

True enough: the Left wants power. Indeed, the Left has always had a pathological hunger for power.

But often the Left has had little success in recruiting among the general public. So, why today is the Left so successful at recruiting adolescents and young adults, most as passive hangers-on, but also a significant number of violent activists?

I think the answer to that is (partially) that we have created a society in which we are discouraging or preventing young people from pursuing the biologically natural course of human life — child-bearing, parenthood, stable male-female bonding, a childhood leading to a sane adulthood, and all the rest.

Strike out at Mother Nature, and she has a nasty way of striking back. And we are seeing this on our streets today.

I saw something very interesting in the internet today. Some group did a study. I don’t know if it’s valid as I’m a cynic.

Study found that at 25, 30, and 35 high school grads have higher income and greater wealth than college grads. Probably the wealth is middle class home ownership.

Student debt and late entry into career adult jobs and buying a home accounted for a lot too.

Some medics look at the numbers and chose the 4 year nursing degree and starting work st 22,23 rather than 13 years of school and residency and starting the career 10 years later than the nurses with as much as 3,400K student debt. Residents are paid. But the residencies are often in the most expensive cities so they just make living and moving expenses.

It’s hard to complete college in 4 years sometimes because first you can’t take 102 unless you’ve taken 101. Second, they add more and more liberalogy required classes every year.

Every decade or so the California state legislators do something sensible. They passed a law that if a state university student didn’t graduate in 5 years tuition could not be charged for the 6th and more years.

The colleges were just adding more and more prerequisites and delaying graduation .

    Something to think about.

Most of us are old enough to remember Hugh Hefner and his Playboy magazine. Hefner also founded the Playboy Foundation around 1957.

The Playboy Foundation began funding abortion propaganda in the late 1950s. They also encouraged promiscuity for men. And the Playboy Foundation financed Roe VS Wade. And all during the 60s lobbied state legislators and medical associations to lessen the legal restrictions little by little.

And the truth is , there were more abortions both illegal and semi legal done in hospitals by Drs for “ medical” reasons than after Roe VS Wade.

The reason was 1 early marriage for most everybody 2 lack of reliable birth control. I and the few women who aren’t disgusted by the White women hatred on UNZ really wonder if some of you guys have ever had sex in your lives.

Because you don’t realize that a couple that sleeps in the same bedroom every night and doesn’t have reliable birth control is more likely to conceive than a couple that lives apart only gets together once or twice a week and she takes the pill and be had a vasectomy.

Some of you guys live in a fantasy world where unmarried people and young teens live in a world of wild promiscuity. They don’t. If you got out and met some people and had your own teens you’d know what’s really going on and it’s not the wild promiscuity you seen in Barely Legal and other sites.

All your huffing and puffing about other people’s sex lives marital status child bearing or lack of just makes you guys look like pathetic old codger losers who never got laid in your lives.

The MEN OF UNZ and their historically inaccurate fantasy of non working wives and mothers.

For most of human history work was done in the home by both parents kids old enough to help even if it was playing in newly sown fields to scare the birds away.

The neighborhood carpenter. While he was off building something, she was buying the lumber , selling a client his next project, and cooking dinner for the family and the apprentices.

Magistrates known as justices of the peace in America worked in their homes until very recently. Weavers worked at home. 90 percent of the population were farmers and farms are family operations with the entire family working including the wife ,whether it’s a huge operation or 10 acres,

When the industrial revolution factories began 1750 more women and children were hired than men. Because sheer strength was not required, well , men worked in tough jobs like steel mills.
But the mine owners of Britain had women working in the mines as much as men. It was later outlawed. Factories were always full of women. Mary Phagan Leo Frank’s victim went to work in his factory when she was ten. There were only 2 men and an office boy in that factory. The rest were all women and girls as young as ten

Ever heard of the job of scrivener? Before copying machines mimeographed legal and government documents need to be hand written. The scriveners worked at home. Husband wife and kids together. Lots of widows and single women living with parents and relatives did it too.

The lawyers government clerks whoever wrote a document and then it was taken to the home of a scrivener and they write as many copies as ordered. A home business and women and children did it.

I cannot emphasize enough that 85,90 percent of the population were farmers and the wives worked as hard as the men.

Architecture all over the work you see the standard business residence. First floor the shop, production and sales. Second floor storage maybe the office. Upper floors family residence and the whole family worked.

Fisher men got up at 3/am to fish. They got back at 10 or 11 and the wives met them at the dick. She did the housework, got the kids up , cooked dinner and went to the dick to help unload and clean the fish. He went home, ate dinner and went to sleep. She cane home after she sold the fish or put it in the salt barrels and smoking shed.

What you guys don’t know and don’t want to know is that your ideal of husband going off to factory office drive a train whatever with a stay at home wife in a comfortable home only began around 1850 and ended in 1970. 120 years.

And in those 120 years only middle and upper class men made enough money to keep the non working . wives The majority of men, the majority of men didn’t make enough to support the family. A lot of women did cleaning work, laundry sewed or had little factories at home. The broker agent came around with the materials and the women and children made the product at home. Jewelry beaded jewelry the beads were strung in the home workshops basically the kitchen table. Hats sewing the lining and band in men’s hats Sewing the ribbons and trimmings in women’s hats.

That was the majority, families whose husbands didn’t earn enough to support the family

Definitely not a husband who made enough to support non working wives and teens in a very modest way. Marriage is an arrangement. And both spouses working is how it’s been for all of human history.

But the women hating MEN OF UNZ think only in terms of 120 years for the minority of men who made enough to support non working wives and teens.

Kids nowadays are just a burden till they’re 25 or more. 100 years ago kids went to work at 13 or 14, even earlier in many states and contributed their money,

Another Dad’s fantasy of patriarchy. There are many religious ethnic cultural societies on earth. But the most dysfunctional societies are the extremely patriarchal Islamic ones. Just look at India and Pakistan one country more or less till 1948 Pakistan is a total mess. It can’t even control the portions termed Tribal Areas. Recently a catholic 13 year old was kidnapped by several Muslim men raped and married to a 44 year old man.

Her family found where she was. Couldn’t rescue her because Pakis live in like fortresses plus the men of the family guard the house against other Pakis.

So the girl’s family went to court to get her back. The police of course wouldn’t even take a report because in this Muslim country it’s legal to kidnap and imprison non Muslim girls Judge dismisses the case even though it’s illegal in Pakistan to marry at 13.

Muslim men are patriarchs. Part of the reason Muslim societies are such a mess is that the women are locked up and the men of the family have to do all the shopping. Every day for food which without refrigeration and canning means every day. So instead of working, a man has to do household shopping errands etc, Muslim women aren’t supposed to answer the door so a man it teen boy has to stay home to answer the door. And a lot of shopping was done with door to door peddlers.
Of course there were severely strict and not so strict variations but that was patriarchal Islam. And it’s being revived . All through medieval and early modern times travelers mentioned there were no women on the streets not even at the neighborhood food market.

Sick of trying to explain to women haters ignorant if how work and production has always been done and might go right back to the pre 1850 model.

Henrymakow.com has gone insane against the covid hoax. But if you scroll down his website he has an excellent explanation of how the White male Ford, Carnegie and Rockefeller Foundations created the feminazi and women back to work movement. The women were just puppets hired to do what Ford and Rockefeller Foundations told them to do.

3MMMs money motive message and who benefits. And you MEN OF UNZ are so gullible you believe the MSM that the feminazi movement was women who wanted to escape their comfy homes and go to work.

One theory about why Ford Rockefeller Foundations was increased consumerism as well as increasing the labor force by about a third by sending all the married women to work.

The post war boom was slowing down, Rockefeller’s had planned the jump to China for decades.

Now working costs money. Triple AAA claims that commuting to work is 80 percent of auto costs. Plus commuting puts miles on and wears cars out faster than just using it for short trips a few days a week. Clothes prepared food dry cleaning child care going out to eat because there’s no time to cook. It costs money to go to work. I call it the work tax. Like all the other taxes workers pay. That’s why welfare disability slugs and workers with the same take home income The workers actually have less income for rent food etc because of their work expenses the work tax.

Already a lot of companies have told the work force that they’ll be cutting wages soon because the home workers don’t have work expenses any more.

Read henrymakow.com and learn who paid for and created the feminazi movement. Learn about human reproduction of which most of you are ignorant. That’s what makes you look like pathetic losers who never get laid. Oh, BTW, for all of you …..s who think women can’t have children after 30. A certain 38 year old married to a very famous man first name William is allegedly pregnant agin with her 4th.

As for all you ignoramuses who constantly proclaim that women’s fertility starts going down at 25, and more every year, yes that’s true.
But lessening fertility is a relative term, from 99 percent chance of getting pregnant if she has sex on the fertile days to like an 85 75 70 chance of getting pregnant.

In summation your women hating fantasy of a happy housewife with a husband who was the sole support of the family was a middle and upper class phenomenon for about 120 years of human history. And during those 120 years, the majority of men could not support families and the wives had to work, maybe manufacturing at home, but working and earning money.

The comments you celibate wankers make about women and very young as well as 16+ teen girls make you all like like pathetic loser who never got laid in your lives. And the “kids today” especially the fantasies about promiscuous 14 year old slut girls makes it obvious you don’t have daughters or know anyone who does,

And all you losers obsessed with other White people’s fertility?

Get to work and do what my husband and his two brothers did . 3 brothers 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandson between them. All blue eyed fair skinned N European types with IQs in the 110-130 range as proven by the admission tests to their private schools.

America’s elite often surprises me. Supposedly feminism was a plot to drive wages down by doubling the workforce, and a lot of ‘woke’ stuff seems engineered to divide the working and middle classes along racial lines. In the end it’s not clear how much is a conspiracy and how much is just trends people in power let go on because they’re convenient (with inconvenient trends being arrested of course).

It’s all part of the greater Jewish War on Biology.

Jewish War on Biology? What an odd phrase.

While it is true that secular Jews are over-represented in the radical movements that promote the lunacy-in-question, none of these are uniquely, exclusively, or inherently Jewish. Moreover, such ideals are actually the very antithesis of Judaism.* Few demographics are as defiantly resistant to the type of lunacy under discussion here than those Jews who actually take Judaism seriously, i.e., the Orthodox.

(*The actual religion; not the perverse travesties that you (and so many others) are apparently mistaking for the genuine article.)

Jews and non-Jewish white people need to get together and have a sort of “marriage counseling” and hash this out.

    Wrong on both counts.

There is no reasoning or compromise with people who demand that confused children be given puberty-blockers. Had the same been realized back when the fight was over state and institutional (medical, educational, etc.) adoption of the position that homosexuality is equivalent to heterosexuality; of the whitewashing of the hideous, objective realities of pretending an exit-only structure of fecal elimination can serve as the functional equivalent of the female orifice; of allowing wanton sodomites to adopt children, and then even to create them via artificial insemination or surrogate motherhood, then there we would not be where we are today facing World War T.

As others have pointed-out, including many in this very thread, each concession given to these radicals only emboldens them further.

And the radicals, fanatics and lunatics who are promoting the depravity-in-question include (plenty of) non-Jews as well as Jews; non-whites as well as whites. All people who recognize it for the cancer it is need to unite and work together to resist and defeat it.

By the way, we actually have two kids in college and have been married for more than four decades. And I was actually the stay-at-home parent who homeschooled the kids, so I am certainly not maintaining that all people need to adhere to the ideal sex roles of America in 1950.

One general point I would add to your comments is that it is hard for anyone to untangle their own efforts to live a normal human life (and raise children to do the same) from the surrounding culture. After all, we cannot and should not raise our children in complete isolation from the surrounding society: humans are social beings. But when that surrounding society sends messages to kids, adolescents, and young adults that are completely contrary to the nature of human beings, it is very difficult to fight against the dominant culture.
