From a Washington Post opinion columnist:

Opinion: Being Black in America is exhausting

Opinion by Jonathan Capehart, Columnist
April 17, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. PDT

“Everyone I know is just so tired,” tweeted Jenna Wortham of the New York Times Magazine on Wednesday. While the Black writer doesn’t specify who “everyone” is, it’s a good bet they are also Black. And Wortham’s use of “tired” is an understatement.

“Tired” doesn’t just refer to the trauma of the Derek Chauvin trial or seeing replays of the video of the former Minneapolis police officer killing George Floyd. Nor does “tired” just refer to seeing Daunte Wright being shot by a Brooklyn Center, Minn., police officer after being pulled over because of an air freshener dangling from his rearview mirror, as his mother has said. Or because of expired tags, as the police said. No, “tired” is all of that, plus whatever personal trauma we carry with us. …

Minneapolis’s main paper had a similar whiny opinion piece today. The aggrieved recalled going to a boat dock and seeing a white person there, who ignored her.

I figured it was the white family’s responsibility to ease the tension of the situation by somehow signaling that they were not racist.

It was white people being so violent, so aggressive, so mean, so ignorant, so prejudiced, right? And the best they could do in that moment of encounter with a Black family was to pretend we didn’t exist?

    I was livid.

  2. Yes, being black in America MUST be exhausting….on any given day blacks have to make big decisions!

Do I go to loot the Nike Store…..or Target…..or Walmart…..or all three?

Should I set fire to the police station?

Should I beat the shit out of the old homeless white man in the wheelchair?

Should I rape an elderly white woman? Or maybe torture and rape a nice white couple?

Maybe I should go to Pioneer and get in a fight over chicken sandwiches.

    Decisions….decisions…..

These pieces run every day, in every city. No contrary perspectives are ever permitted. The editors know full well what they’re doing. But they also know that saturation propaganda is very effective. And they know that the few who can see through it are being marginalized more and more, and may safely be ignored.

  11. Polistra says:
    @Jeff Ledbetter

Teach me this. Why is Tiny Duck permitted an endless number of sock puppets, and especially why are his comments published quickly while others among us wait hours and even days to see our more relevant posts show up?

I figured it was the white family’s responsibility to ease the tension of the situation by somehow signaling that they were not racist.

So how does one do that?

Break out the watermelon and fried chicken and offer everyone some?

Just what is the Official Protocol for “somehow signaling that they were not racist”?

Do all races know how to do this or only whites (Whites!)

They want genuflection (literally) and, as we saw in Portland and Seattle, they want you to empty your wallet in their general direction.

However, not enough wypipos is co-operating, so they’re going to be using the government to get the results they want. That “monopoly on the legitimate use of force” thing comes in mighty handy when you’re looking to dispossess people.

None of this would even be happening if the masses hadn’t been brainwashed by several decades of (MSM) propaganda.

What’s more, our ((betters)) won’t shut up about we need to shut up and take it, all while Israel, correctly, never takes in any Africans. What a clown world that we live in.

  18. Is that why they do so badly on standardized tests?

  19. @eric

The MST piece is not quite as bad as your quotations make it appear.

The black woman who wrote it went on to say the following (after the part you quoted, and with my emphasis):

It took me a while, at least a few months, to truly unpack the situation and come to terms with why this was bothering me so much. What could have been done to alleviate the tension?

Then I tried on the responsibility that I wish the white family would have assumed.

I considered my role as an emboldened, Christian Black woman and asked myself what I could have done in that moment.

    Why didn’t I speak up?

Why didn’t I say something kind?

Why didn’t I consider the misconceptions and preconceived notions that they might have about Black people because of the generational lies perpetuated in every aspect of their lives?

Why couldn’t I consider their fear? And not fear of Black people, but fear from shame because of the atrocities that their people have been committing against my people?

What if their silence was bearing responsibility in some way?

What if they really didn’t know what to say?

After all, I didn’t know what to say.

To this day, I can’t be sure of what could or should have happened, or was supposed to happen. But I do know that if I had spoken up, I would not have walked away disturbed by words untold and worlds vainly imagined.

The article’s author is in fact questioning the ‘white people as saviors’ narrative, and realizes that she bears (perhaps) equal responsibility for alleviating racial tensions. Yes, she still suspects that the white people she met are misguided and somehow expected to bear the shame of the ‘atrocities their people have been committing against my people’, but at least she’s not seeing the interaction as a one-way street.

It’s not bad, for the MST.

  25. CCZ says:

The choices are: “exhaustion,” “racial battle fatigue,” or “post-traumatic slave syndrome.”

Black people are experiencing a scientific phenomenon that is not a figment of their collective imagination. It is having an impact on their mental health, and they are not faking or imagining what is happening to them. The condition is known as “racial battle fatigue,” a term which was coined by Dr. William A. Smith of the University of Utah [in 2004].

In his paper, “Challenging Racial Battle Fatigue,” Smith wrote that “racial microaggressions can be defined as subtle, stunning, cumulative, verbal and non-verbal insults layered with racism, sexism, elitism, and other subordination…. Everyday, People of Color are faced with interpreting the subtleties of microaggressions, deciphering the layers of discrimination included in the insults, and deciding whether or not to respond.”

As a result, microaggressions maintain white privilege and create unnecessary stress in Black people. Smith said that the mental and physical stress visited upon people of color as they navigate this racism is not unlike the stress soldiers experience in war.

Blows my mind that you think this is conciliatory in any way. What about the legitimate concerns of the countless thousands of white Americans who have been physically victimized by violent black people, many of us time and again?

Somehow I never EVER see this mentioned in the MSM. All this ‘their people’ and ‘my people’ is tribalist agitprop, sponsored by the (One Tribe). There are many of us with direct, personal experience of hideous, violent crime at the hands of black people–none of whom were ever held responsible.

Why are our concerns not legitimate? Why don’t we have the right to carry on our lives without being constantly attacked? We’re not hurting anyone. We’re just trying to survive and live our lives peacefully.

  47. Why continue to make each other miserable? Modern monetary theory shows we can spend trillions of dollars without major ill effects. We can spend our way out of this.

Carve out a chunk of the Deep South and give it to African Americans as their own country. Offer to buy the homes and businesses of non-blacks there at above market prices and give them to local blacks. Offer blacks elsewhere in America generous reparations if they agree to move to African America, with part of the reparations paid up front and the rest paid annually. If any of them return to non-African America and commit crimes, they would forfeit their annual reparations.

In African America, blacks could police themselves how they like, and otherwise tailor their institutions and laws as they see fit. Any African Americans who want to stay in non-African America could do so, but without any affirmative action or other preferences.

Of course our concerns are legitimate.

But this article’s author has no doubt been educated and encouraged throughout her life to blame white people. She’s been assured she’s always the victim. She’s not going to have a iSteve-approved take on black/white crime, and if she did, Hell would host Golden Gopher hockey matches before the Minneapolis Star Tribune published it.

This article is at least not just another ‘I’m so tired being a victim of racism’ whine. In response to her own knee-jerk assumptions of white people’s racism, she is advocating taking some responsibility for her own attitudes and actions. She has agency. In today’s woke climate, that’s a positive. One step at a time.

  56. We need to reach out to Black people. They are suffering terribly at this time. So many Black Men are being killed by our police departments, for no reason whatsoever.

One thing my wife and I do, is to visit Black neighbors and comfort them. Simply hugging a Black person does much to reassure them that you care.

We like to visit Black families and cook them a meal. My wife has learned to cook delicious fried chicken and all Black families we visit enjoy this dish. We often bring okra, watermelon and colored greens for the families.

In addition to cooking wholesome meals for Black people, we like to do small repairs around their house. Most Black families are unable to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors. As a result, they are tortured by that chirping sound they emit. I believe this leads to much of the incomprehensibly violent behavior so many innocent Black people engage in. So we replace the batteries and things are mostly peaceful afterwards.

Often times, Black families need their homes cleaned. They work three and four jobs to survive and cleaning is impossible. We bring mops and sponges and clean their homes. Also, Black people appreciate a fresh coat of paint. So that’s something you can do to help them.

There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than helping Black people. The smile they offer to you is priceless.

With the 4 trillion we printed over the last year, we could have given each black household more than 100k (given there are fewer than 40 million black adults).

My preference would be to incentivize a return to their ancestral homeland of Africa, without giving away any land in the USA.

JFK signed an executive order allowing the US Treasury to print money backed by silver.

But perhaps a President could issue currency not backed by anything, for the express purpose of “Separation Compensation”.

In theory, this would lead to inflation, but we printed 4 trillion just over the last year. And if the recipients were no longer in the country, maybe that would reduce the inflationary impact.

The writer’s an idiot or a liar (likely both) because there’s no way for whites to “signal” non-racism. Whites are in fact non-racist because while holding a large numerical advantage they’ve eschewed violence against blacks for four decades. All that did was allow blacks to redefine racism as failure to exempt. So despite whatever “signal” she might see initially, eventually she’ll detect that the white person isn’t really down with wholesale black exemption and voila! – “racism” all over again.

Whites have eschewed violence against blacks for the entire period of the two populations’ existence in North America. If Whites were what non-Whites say they are, there wouldn’t be any blacks in North America. 80. I have no doubt that Black people are tired. Well politically involved Blacks anyways.

They signed up for liberal race denial and blaming Whitey for all of their problems. That would probably work if race didn’t exist but that delusion should have ended before the 80s.

Instead of rallying around community leaders they celebrate violent felons. They look the other way when Blacks kill each other but if a felon is killed by a White police officer then they hit the streets in rage.

They embraced single motherhood because a bunch of White liberals told them that men don’t matter. That hasn’t worked out and their response is to trust liberals and blame Whitey for not giving them enough money.

I also have no doubt that being a liberal is tiring. You have to constantly deny reality while pretending to be studying it.

Of course it is also tiring for those of us that can see what a circus this all is and yet we are expected to sit quietly and defer authority to complete clowns. If we point out the madness of the circus we are accused of having anti-clown bias.

For a while mainstream has to pretend that they care for blacks, until the steady Latino influx will get them to change the tune completely (hint: Latinos and blacks don’t like each other much).

Also, when there is violent crime (like so called “mass shootings”), if the perpetrator happens to be Europan-American, it is being mentioned. Not if it’s a so called “PoC”

  84. @Just another serf

    Good stuff. Keep it coming!

Being around any blacks is dangerous, the “good” ones more so than the orcs.

Say the wrong thing in their presence–no matter how innocent or neutral–and your life is over, and as the definition of racism expands beyond the absurd, nothing you say or do as a Person of Ivory will not be racist, including your very existence (really, we are at that point now.)

The racial cold war has been brewing for decades and is profitable for our enemies, and our enemies are legion, including traitorwhites. It’s too late for a peaceful solution. Prepare accordingly.

  91. America is exhausted.

The concept, the proposition, of America is exhausted.

The idea that a nation can be maintained and can flourish by means of an abstract set of principles that ignores biology and kinship and human nature in general and not by a people is exhausted.

We could believe propositional America worked for so long only because for the first couple of hundred years it was mostly White and largely Anglo-White, with all others firmly controlled by those Anglo-Whites. It was, in practical terms, maintained by a people. And it more or less “worked”. White people can make almost any political system work for long periods of time. But eventually, all empires, nations and political formations become exhausted.

The less White America becomes – in terms of both the actual people and in its cultural norms – the more exhausted it becomes.

There is nothing the white family could have said or done that wouldn’t have been twisted by the black woman into an expression of racism. She effectively admits this by making every one of her hypotheses of the white people’s motivations a negative one. The white family may have guessed this and figured they could at least avoid a screaming argument by saying nothing. Or maybe they were just politely allowing a stranger to go about her business without butting in. That’s considered good manners in some circles, though obviously not the ones frequented by the black woman.

Blacks will calculate their race’s Black-sleep-hours deficit and demand long sleeping periods during the workday to catch up on centuries of Lost Black Nappy-Time. Outside areas will be lined with cheap plastic lawn chairs filled with Blacks, dozing in the sun. Other Blacks will curl up contentedly in the hallways on their employer-supplied sleeping mats, just like in kindergarten. Their solicitous co-workers will gently drape them in soft blankets as the Blacks settle contentedly into their well-deserved rests.

Signs will be posted: Do Not Disturb, Black People At Sleep. Their white co-workers will do double-duty as Blacks blink, nod and snore their way serenely into REM phase. A customer will raise his voice and a Sleeping Black Employee will raise a wary, aggrieved eyelid. The white employees will frantically shush the customer and shoo him away, lest he disturb the Blacks At Rest. Entire protocols will be published: felt overshoes for treading lightly around Dozing Blacks; quiet voices during Black Napping; avoid tripping, jostling, falling objects, expletives, loud noises, sudden moves, anything that might disturb Black Restfulness. Offices will be finished in deep shag carpet in the event a Black is suddenly overcome with Historic Black Sleep Deprivation.
