Swastikas found in Emerson College dormitory
The college will hold a community vigil Thursday at 4 p.m.

January 23, 2020
Four swastikas were found drawn in stairwells in an Emerson College dormitory Tuesday night, according to an e-mail sent to students. The Nazi symbol was discovered in Piano Row, a residence hall, Emerson College President Lee Pelton said in the e-mail.

Emerson College was founded in 1880 as the Boston Conservatory of Elocution, Oratory, and Dramatic Art. It was obscure until not long ago, when it became fashionable among wealthy high school students for its emphasis on screenwriting and the like.

This is reminiscent of the finding of swastikas right after Trump’s election in the womyn’s dorm at the New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village.

There seems to be a negative correlation between the likelihood of a swastika showing up in a locked dorm and the number of actual neo-Nazis who are aware of the existence of that educational institution.

So far, this story hasn’t gone national, being restricted to the Boston outlets. Is this suggestive that the national media, after decades of credulously promoting fake news Hate Hoaxes has gotten a little less gullible in the year since Covington and Jussie?

  17. The Emerson College Police Department is investigating the incident to find the perpetrator:

Emerson police are investigating the source of four swastikas “scrawled” in Piano Row after a student reported the graffiti early Wednesday morning, according to college officials.

The discriminatory, anti-Semitic graffiti was located between the 10th and 11th floors of the residence hall and it remains unclear when it was created. Vice President and Dean of Campus Life James Hoppe said ECPD might encounter difficulties when determining the perpetrator and recovering physical evidence from the site.

“Odds are somebody knows who did this and so if anyone would have their ability or willingness to come forward and share information they know that would be very helpful,” he said.
    https://berkeleybeacon.com/swastikas-found-in-piano-row-stairwell-prompt-ecpd-investigation/

Also, the school held a vigil the next day. And a “solidarity shabbat” the day after.

The standing-room-only vigil, led by the Rev. Julie Avis Rogers, campus chaplain, and Jake Freedman, advisor to the Emerson Jewish community, invited participants to share their reflections on the act of hate.

On Friday, January 24, 6:00 pm, Emerson Hillel is hosting a Solidarity Shabbat in the Private Dining Room, to “celebrate Judaism in the face of hate.” The shabbat is open to all Emerson community members, whether or not they identify as Jewish.
    https://today.emerson.edu/2020/01/24/emerson-comes-together-following-anti-semitic-graffiti-incident/

With so much attention, whoever did this (whether troll or hate hoaxer), I think got what they wanted.

  18. It doesn’t have to be true to have an effect. The story gets published loudly enough, but the correction invariably is quiet. The vigil happens, and speeches are made that implant in people’s minds the idea that “antisemitism” or some other form of “hate” is growing in America, and thus:

We need to pass more anti-First Amendment laws. We need to make it even more illegal or impossible or punishable or whatever (is it even clear?) to criticize Israel on college campuses. We need to crack down even more on “hate.”

Because of all these “antisemitic” acts, real or not. And other acts of “hate.” The idea is planted in the public mind. It has an effect. It is so useful it might even be reason enough to deliberately commit a hoax act and publish a story about it.

  22. In 2013, one Emerson student in her senior year, said she had noticed that the school was now making a bigger deal out of these incidents than when she started as a freshman.

Faryn Tobler, a senior journalism major, who did not attend the meeting in Paramount, said she has seen a change in Emerson’s response to vandalism since Pelton took office. “In my last three, four years here, I’ve seen stuff like this, and we didn’t get an email every time,” she said.

President M. Lee Pelton also sent an email to the Emerson community on Wednesday, asking students to consider the college’s values of inclusivity and respect.

Jordan’s email also informed Paramount residents about a meeting on Tuesday evening to discuss the vandalism. Yet as the discussion was set to begin in the the ninth floor common room, only two Paramount resident assistants had come to attend.

In the past two weeks, four Emerson buildings have been defaced by graffiti that college administrators have described as discriminatory and racially offensive. Officials have informed the community about the crimes, stating they have had a detrimental effect on the campus atmosphere.

A resident assistant also discovered the word “jews” written on a fifth-floor men’s bathroom in the Little Building, Feb. 11 according to Haden, which he said might be connected to the other defacements in that residence hall.

    https://berkeleybeacon.herokuapp.com/news/2013/2/21/oncampus-vandalism-continues-as-graffiti-found-in-four

The president M. Lee Pelton started in July 2011. So maybe this contributed to the “great awokening” during the Obama years. Some school staffers began to really fearmonger about even the smallest of word “crimes”.

“A Texas high school student, who is African American with Trinidadian descent, won't be allowed to return to school or attend his graduation ceremony unless he cuts his dreadlocks, his family says.

“Deandre Arnold, a senior at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu in Southeast Texas, has had dreadlocks for years and says it's part of his identity and culture. Deandre's family is from Trinidad, and he said the men in his family often grow their dreadlocks to below their waist.”

This would literally be illegal here in New Jersey.

  31. It was obscure until not long ago, when it became fashionable among wealthy high school students for its emphasis on screenwriting and the like.

To be fair, Emerson has produced a ton of famous alumni in the arts, most notably Jay Leno.

WOR's funny and astute Mark Simone is also an Emerson alum. As with Mizzou it's known for media training so I suppose it's part of the course requirements to overplay every phony "outrage"

The Corona outbreak if serious enough will at least relegate these spurious outbreaks of "hate" to the back burner for a while. Until we get the media's obligatory "Women, Minorities Hardest Hit"

Countdown to revelation of hoax in 10, 9, 8 . . . This is the antifa/SJW/tranny/feminazi/BLM version of a commie under every bed boogeyman. This is not your grandpa’s extraordinary popular delusion and crowd madness. New and improved kookoo – now how much would you pay? When will it end? Make it stop! They’re trying to wear us down with their nonsense. Never give in.

Someone should keep a list like this of hate hoaxes.

There should also be a list of anti-Christian and anti-white crimes.

The Nazi symbol was discovered in Piano Row, a residence hall...

    Seriously?

“Needless to say, this symbol, which was appropriated by fascists..."

I suppose the "appropriated" is a sop of some kind, but I'm surprised the word slipped through.

But he's wrong. The Fascists had their own symbol.

What do you expect in a place called Barber’s Hill? When everyone in town has nothing but scissors and pairs of clippers, every head looks like a buzz cut.

A bundle of sticks lashed together is called a ‘fascis’ (plural ‘fasces’).

It's also called a "faggot". Plural "HRC". No, not the one in your picture.

Is this suggestive that the national media, after decades of credulously promoting fake news Hate Hoaxes has gotten a little less gullible in the year since Covington and Jussie?

Even before, reporters knew the white supremacists infiltrator angle was pure B.S. But now they are wary because they’ve learned that sometimes the truth comes out and makes them look silly.

  41. Remember the KKK alarms a couple years ago?

On one campus some damn fool liberal walked past a door and saw a White lab coat hung up. In the other hysterical incident the campus went on lock down and campus and city police swarmed all over. The KKK racist was a catholic chaplain and adjunct professor of some theology class. He was’nt a priest. He was a monk whose uniform robe was white instead of brown or grey.

Oh for the days when jews just bitched and whined about country clubs.

I have never heard of an anti-Semitic campus incident that wasn't a hoax.

"Is this suggestive that the national media, after decades of credulously promoting fake news Hate Hoaxes has gotten a little less gullible in the year since Covington and Jussie?"

Nope. Credulousness has nothing to do with it. The MSM knows these are all hoaxes.

Therefore, the answer must lie elsewhere. Perhaps, the MSM simply didn't have enough people handy at the moment, what with "all hands on deck" for the extended hate against Trump this week. As with The Pretend Encyclopedia, aka Wikipedia, there aren't always enough comrades handy for every fake news story.

    Replies: @Achmed E. Newman, @lhtness

I suspect the poop swastika at Mizzou (found in the wee hours of a Saturday at a school known for partying) was just a really drunk person being stupid, rather than being a hoax.
