From the New York Times opinion section:
‘The Era of Urban Supremacy Is Over’
March 15, 2023
By Thomas B. Edsall
Mr. Edsall contributes a weekly column from Washington, D.C., on politics, demographics and inequality.
On the last day of February, Glen Lee, the chief financial officer of Washington, D.C., issued a warning to the mayor and members of the District of Columbia Council, who are undertaking such costly ventures as free bus service and expanded affordable housing.
“The Covid-19 pandemic,” Lee wrote, “has brought about significant changes in the District’s population and economy, with potential long-term implications.” Revenue estimates, he said, have “been lowered due to 1) a more pessimistic economic outlook and 2) a deteriorating real property market.”
In Lee’s view, there are still more danger signals:
Recently completed preliminary real property tax assessments, which is the basis for FY 2024 real property tax revenue, are lower than anticipated, and year-to-date revenue collections through January for deed and unincorporated business taxes, both of which are gauges of strength of the real estate market, are drastically lower than last year.
Washington is not alone. Most of the nation’s major cities face a daunting future as middle-class taxpayers join an exodus to the suburbs, opting to work remotely as they exit downtowns marred by empty offices, vacant retail space and a deteriorating tax base.
It’s common to theorize that somebody somewhere really smart and powerful (Klaus Schwab? Bill Gates? The CIA?) must have The Plan behind what is going on, but this is a good example of how that’s the opposite of the truth.
Just at the moment, May 25, 2020, when evidence was piling up that Work-From-Home really did work well enough that the traditional model of having huge downtown business centers was obsolete, with dire implications for big city economies, urban elites then encouraged the Mostly Peaceful Protests and the subsequent rise in street crime.
Great move, guys!
Huge crime and no businesses. Great buying opportunity.
Trump made huge money buying property in crime-ridden, economically collapsing NYC during the 70s and 80s and going over the top in making it opulent. This was when Wall Street/Big corporations was moving a lot of its headquarters to Connecticut and the other suburbs.
Trump, instead, bet on cities rebounding, and once Giuliani and the 90’s tech boom hit, they did in a big way.
Remember that HUD + forced busing + crime was a way communists could break up ethnic, anti-communist enclaves in major cities and then buy them at discount prices. Old Italian, Irish, and Polish, etc. neighborhoods were demolished or abandoned as people were kicked out or fled to the suburbs to protect their families.
This is all calculated.
OT
I’ve noticed a pattern of women in their twenties being considered as naive, fragile things who need to be sheltered from older men, whose wiles and worldly knowledge make it easy to seduce the helpless maidens. Any relationship where the woman is a younger is considered creepy, and the man is considered a predator. My impression is that it has applied to age differences of a decade or three.
But here’s an agony aunt letter from parents fearful of 27- or 28-year-old men going after their 22-year-old daughter. Jeez!
I wonder what the body count of this 22-year-old college graduate is? Maybe she went to BYU, Liberty University, or the College of the Ozarks, so it’s still in the single digits?
It seems like we are back to the 70’s in many, if not all, ways.
This does make sense…(drum roll, please)…in a sense.
If, deep down inside, our betters no longer care about our metropolitan cores, why would they mind seeing them get sacked?
Who cares about Manhattan if you don’t actually work there?
See what he does here?
He’s implying that they’re leaving because the downtown areas are marred by empty spaces, etc., not that the exodus is causing all the gloomy (and dangerous) vacancies.
Yes, COVID-induced work-from-home got the ball rolling and nudged it down the hill, too, but there’s something else going on.
I guess it depends on what you mean by “urban” and “supremacy.” Small towns and rural areas won’t be reclaiming any influence.
Major metropolitan areas will continue to grow both in absolute terms and as a percentage of the population, and they ain’t gonna be any less influential. Everyone who wants to be anyone is gonna live in one.
Suburbs will become more fashionable than they were from 2000-2020, and I imagine this will become something of a cycle, largely depending on the extent to which an inner city’s politics are dominated by blacks and/or democrats during any given period.
Exurbs are (and have been) the new suburbs, and they’ll stay unfashionable but affordable.
So really what we’re talking about here is suburbs carrying more weight vis a vis the inner cities. That’s true, I think, but not really an earth shattering transformation.
That’s bizarre. I’d say a five-six year differential is both conventional, and — at least in this era — about ideal. A twenty two year old man is still going to run around and act like an idiot. A twenty two year old woman? She’ll settle down as soon as she’s pregnant.
Other ages have argued for wider spreads. I’ve read that the Romans felt that the right age for a husband was about thirty, and for the wife, about eleven. I recall noticing that many of the mothers of early-to-mid nineteenth century American politicians must have been at most thirteen when they got married.
Blah blah.
All those words in the NYT article without clearly stating the problems.
1. Black criminality and misbehavior, and toleration of same.
2. Tent cities of vagrants who live and sleep in their own feces, needles, and garbage.
Hardcore vigorously eliminate those problems, and the cities would be magnets.
But the ruling class prefers to worship the pestilence.
That cities are run by imbeciles like Ras Baraka can’t help much either. As witness this bonbon
https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/newark-sister-city-scam-kailasa/
Irish, Italians and Poles were never “anti-communist”. Most communism in America was formented in ethnic neighborhoods and these ethnic groups vote majority Democrat.
Bell bottoms incoming?
Inflation… Urban decay… Conspiracy theories… Wife-swapping…er, polyamory…
Sure, if our betters were united in purpose with a common plan for humanity, like Christ and God the Father.
But I suspect that they are more like the ancient Olympians, with the rest of us occasionally suffering incidental damage in their squabbles for power and influence among each other.
I imagine some of them rather like Manhattan, for various reasons. And others wish to see every window in the city broken.
Read the fine print:
(Columnist is on vacation). TBH, this article could have appeared any time in the last 100 years.
15 years ago so the girl in question is now pushing 40. They should have done a follow up. By now she is either a mother or a cat lady.
Young women don’t get laid as much today compared to the eighties and nineties. They have much less sexual experience than their grandmothers did back in the sixties. So today, even girls who attend big state Universities rarely have more than 3 sexual partners by the time they graduate and a significant number of College grads are still virgins when they graduate.
The sexual activity among young Americans has been dropping for decades. Gen Z is having even less sex than the millennials, who had less sex than the boomers. This is a big reason for the steep decline in birth rates for young women under 30. It also explains why young women suffer from high rates of anxiety and depression today. Gen z is suffering from a mental health crisis due to their lack of sexual intimacy and lack of pair bonding essential to the mental health of females.
real estate was much more affordable back then. As was parochial school. As was state university and grad school fees.
No h1 visas.
USA ran a small yard surplus
But with worse demographics. Winning!
And post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows. Yup. Very 70’s.
I still remember Omega Man, Airport (and the sequels), all the Planet of the Apes sequels, A Clockwork Orange, Soylent Green, A Boy and His Dog, Rollerball, Logan’s Run, Westworld, etc.
Ok, so why has Soros been doing his very best to turn America’s major municipalities into unlivable dystopian violent-criminal-sanctuary-zones? Whatever the most intelligent answer is, it’s a conspiracy theory. Yet another one that will turn out to be true.
Astrology… new age woo woo in general… beards… long hair on the gents…
Guitars are even making a comeback, but this time it’s young women playing them (every single indie band in 2023 is fronted by a lesbian).
Maybe the Cowboys will start winning again.
Cities empty as Civilizations collapse. This has been true for all of known human history.
Off topic: seriously Steve, no thread on the great Faggot Paean known as the 2023 Oscars?
Fashion was terrible in the ’70’s. Sure, ’80’s fashion was bombastic with shoulder pads and such, but at least it was iconic. 50’s and 60’s were great. 70’s? Unkempt, frumpy, poorly fit, awful colors, just the worst!
Give me the early 60’s any day!
Things can spiral upward or spiral downward. It’s a feedback loop – downtown is kind of empty BC of Covid. Most of the people you see on the street are homeless or groups of teenagers looking for trouble. You come down to the office one day and that night you read on the news that a white woman has been beaten unconscious by 6 “youths”, ages 11-14, right around the time you might go home from your office and not 2 blocks from it.
https://6abc.com/center-city-attack-assault-near-hall-philadelphia-woman-assaulted-teens/12934677/
Not even to rob her but just for fun.
You notice that the nearby Wawa and Target, which you used to frequent, are now closed – they couldn’t deal with the shoplifting and crime and were losing money.
https://www.phillyvoice.com/wawa-closed-13th-chestnut-street-philadelphia-center-city-igoldberg/
https://6abc.com/target-closing-center-city-philadelphia-washington-square-chestnut-street/12953592/
These are probably stores that were looted during the Peaceful Protests but were reopened.
Now the block is even darker (in all senses) and feels more empty and dangerous to walk on, esp. after dark (and it gets dark early in the winter).
So, even though your employer is pressing you to return to the office, you present him with these clips and tell him that, as a young woman, you don’t feel safe in doing so. Eventually when the lease comes up for renewal, the employer decides to close the Center City office and move to a suburban office park.
I’m old enough to remember when Chestnut Street east of City Hall was a ghetto. Most of the retailer were wig shops and electronics stores catering to blacks. It took 30 years to revive that stretch of the city and one night to undo 30 years of progress.
Not all ways. The music sucks. Having steady access to non-tattooed, non-obese women is a sign of general affluence or living in the right community. The job market is far more dysfunctional, and many employers look more kindly on rape charges than a period of unemployment. Therapy culture and compulsive medication has gone institutional. On the other hand, you can have decent Sichuanese food delivered to you within 30 minutes in the right urban areas and if you are comfortable, you have many more comforts at your disposable, albeit with more stress. It’s all a matter of perspective! 😛
The problem is, I don’t see an equivalent to “Morning in America” coming on the horizon. Forgetting all the material factors for a second: in the 1980s, the heyday of the 1950s and 1960s weren’t that long ago. The era of spacemen on the moon, peak Bell Labs, etc. A spirit of optimism about the future could be rejuvenated, and the attitude toward getting things going by yourself seemed to be a lot more favorable. Today, the culture screams both pessimism and suffocating, HR-lady inspired safety-ism, among other things. The education system prioritizes getting the right credential and saying the right thing instead of actually knowing shit and coming up with your own thoughts, and when combined with other factors, has created a generation of neurotics. Even in Silicon Valley, the default zeitgeist is to build the next dumb app that you sell so that you can take a well-paid sinecure at a FAANG rather than doing something fundamental to improve lives and/or discover cool stuff, and building your own empire.
I don’t think that can change quickly after the last 30 years, because this spirit of optimism is removed from the realities and experiences of too many Americans. You can’t tell someone who has no rational reason to think they’ve got much to expect from the future to be optimistic. But anger is another story, and can help create the conditions necessary for this., even if it is for other people to enjoy. The one advantage of things getting really bad is that there’s a wider freedom of action, leading to shifts of societal attitudes in a relatively short time. That’s not ideal, but you have to deal with the cards you have, not the ones you wish you had. And it’s infinitely better than the alternative of not trying, going to your corner, and sinking silently beneath the waves as they would really like to happen.
You ever listened to some of Jim Jones’ rants? They don’t sound that different from what comes out of your typical New York Times pundit these days.
”many employers look more kindly on rape charges than a period of unemployment”
OK, but can you list anything *different* now vs. the 70s?
Postcons should get over their fetish for the “small business employer.” Maybe it’ll take another 30 million illegals first.
That’s insightful. Thanks.
Blacks are fleeing most northern cities in ever escalating numbers. Bet on places with shrinking black populations like NYC, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, LA, SF and DC and bet against places with growing black populations like Atlanta, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Minnesota and the entire Carolinas. Those are the future Detroits.
That’s only because people still have the option of moving out. Freedom of travel is……..shall we say……..problematic. And probably racist too.
In the future, you will not have the option to opt out. That’s what Agenda 21, Agenda 2030, and NetZero 2050 are all about. Narrowing the range of options people have, economically, politically, now even medically, such that they are forced to live in large urban conglomerations.
And in case you think things like Agenda 21 is just a bunch of conspiratorial piffle, here is the SPLC telling you it’s all just a bunch of conspiratorial piffle:
https://www.splcenter.org/20140331/agenda-21-un-sustainability-and-right-wing-conspiracy-theory
If that doesn’t indicate it’s real, I don’t know what does.
If you have resource market plunge = buy signal. The people doing and influencing this will make more money.
Get it? Got it? G*t it!
If only I were just a bit more clever.
Makes sense. Jim Jones was a Communist too. I will note that the Lyin’ Press of the time (1978) hid that whole part of the story pretty well during its coverage of that Kool-Aid incident. (Flavor-Aid, actually, as it’s hard to afford the best sugary drinks when living in a Guyanan jungle under Communism.)
Heckuva’ job, Jonesie!
Well Jim did cozy up to alot of politicians in the Bay Area…. mostly Democrats
There is so much new construction in Chicago that it is hard to believe that developers would not see a trend and avoid sinking their money into something that wouldn’t pay off. I think enough people still like the hustle and bustle of the city over suburbia or rural areas. https://www.domu.com/blog/new-chicago-apartment-buildings
In the 1970, the movies, especially, and cultural output, generally, were far superior to what we have in these times. But then, as Nebulafox points out, the ‘50s and ‘60s were, well, the immediately preceding decades and everyone had fresh memories of American cultural excellence from earlier decades.
“Give me the early 60’s any day!”
Late 60’s please. Miniskirts and go-go boots.
Is this some kind of sick joke? Those 60s women’s dresses look like they were haphazardly improvised from plastic table covers or shower curtains.
Face it the whole 20th century sucked. 80s were especially bad. Mid-70s were the best time to be alive.
Hard for me to be negative about 70s fashion when the women weren’t obese, tatted up, and nose-ringed.
I look at that photo and reach over for my time machine.
There’s been an advertisement on local right wing radio for a computer guy and the ad really makes clear as a selling point that it’s work from home. Elon’s sincere hostility toward WFH was possibly from all the fashionable mainstream social media platforms being overgrown with do-nothing DIE people and talkative meeting attenders. Almost nothing computerwise really requires that you be in a particular location, and if somehow the internet goes down, it’s probably not going down in The Office anyway. So at least some employers are advertizing WFH from the start.
————-
Nothing like this has ever happened, every national-level bank is dying, even with halts.
Well girls have gotten fatter but they have gotten any uglier. Lots of 3s, 4s, 5s in that bunch.
The switch to hybrid work arrangements would have been surmountable for cities had Floydmania not kicked off. Scores of big city Democratic mayors declined to enforce law and order out of solidarity with BLM, sending a subliminal signal to millions that their lives and property might be better protected elsewhere, a message many are heeding. Add to all this the continuing collapse of public education and soon there’s really no reason for a family to stay who cannot afford a neighborhood that is sufficiently buffered from the dregs and the cost of private school.
The left wanted to smash our old society, and they got their wish. The only question is who controls whatever comes next.
I hope we at least get a write-off on our reparations bill when the deserving decendants get the keys to these massive office buildings.
And post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows.
Don’t forget Mad Max (1979). There was a weird sense of doom in the latter half of the 1970s. Russia invaded Afghanistan. Nicaragua and Grenada went communist. Inflation was rampant and the price of god and silver (thanks to the Hunt brothers) went sky high. There were best-selling TEOTWAWKI novels like The Crash of ’79. The survival movement began, with Mel Tappan writing a column about how to prepare for the coming collapse in Guns & Ammo. People like me bought semiautomatic rifles and prepackaged cases of freeze-dried food.
It seems peculiar in retrospect. Compared to our situation today, it was a golden age.
Time Travelling Chloe Sevigny bottom row far right.
Jim Jones was a necrophiliac. The church was jam packed with blacks.
I have to disagree with this. I understand the logic behind the argument that work-from-home is the new thing, but I think that it’s a linear extrapolation from recent (very unusual) trends that is going to come up short for those who try to depend on it.
Unremarked upon by many, the laptop class is really taking it on the chin. So far this year there have been 95,000 layoffs in the Big Tech sector. GM has offered a buyout to hundreds of salaried personnel. Tyson Foods is shuttering two plants this month. Apple is instituting a stealth hiring freeze. All of this was already in place before the bank failures of recent days.
Everywhere you look up and down the economy, companies are trying to reduce headcount. The people working from home are effectively making a case for their own expendability that will not fail to impress the hiring manager when the next wave of layoffs comes. Ultimately, what will end up happening is that the jobs of three or four people will be consolidated in one job that pays 75% of what any of the previous four made, and that person will be required to show up at the office. The work-from-home honeymoon is coming to an end.
My advice, for what it’s worth: If you have a job you want to keep, now would be a good time to start making yourself seen.
Ew, is that a man?
The Sears Catalog was big into “Unisex” clothes in c. 1972.
Funny how you hear a million gender words these days, but never “unisex.”
1. Buy the real estate? He’s kind of old to profit from it though.
2. He actually believes it’s the right thing to do because systemic racism. But I’m with…
3. “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
Indeed. The trend of women uglifying themselves with tattoos, piercings (who was it that figured that the nose-ring is attractive?!) and weird hair coloring has been especially depressing.
You’re really putting the twink in Twinkie tonight.
I know the answer. The answer is:
NOT #2
It took 30 years to revive that stretch of the city and one night to undo 30 years of progress.
That’s the story of so many American cities in 2023.
Boy aren’t we the grumpus this evening. Did your dinner suck?
Hard to tell with several of them, but I see a bunch of 4s, 5s and 6s–which is what you’d expect, most people cluster around average. But more 7s than 3s. (It’s a little hard to tell with their clothes on.)
I.e. it’s a pic of a bunch of slightly above average looking young white women–for then. Is it one of those sororities where only a few of the girls are not hot? No. So what. These are the American girls I grew up around, I dated a bunch of them, and I like them. (Well, back then. Some of them probably have yard signs up now.)
But in answer to your question: Yes. Girls are uglier now. Fats and tats are not attractive. Period. (And neither are part shaved heads and weird colored hair.) The girls in that pic would actually mostly be 5s, 6s and 7s now, because even at college age a bunch of young women have simply made themselves utterly unappealing.
The sorority girl is better looking. Basically, less odd looking. Not that looking a little odd is all that terrible for an actor.
I think you mean fomented not formented.
There’s a big difference between “voted for FDR” and “communists”. Those neighborhoods were the heartland of the law-and-order hardhats.
The goal is to undermine and destroy the nation(s). Social decay, crime and bankruptcy are a feature not a bug.
Yes, technically it was released in 1981, but surely the epitome of genre was:
Tats are the worst. They can let their hair grow properly and the weird color fades.
But the tats remain. We walk the beach–well not the past couple days, cold for March–and the sight of these moms (and dads) in their 30s and 40s and even 50s with their ugly saggy tats. Get your ugly off my beach!
We’ll ok, the whales are even more depressing. C’mon people. But a different category.
America is just embarrassing these days … in pretty much every conceivable way.
Take a look at the actuarial tables and relax. If she was 22 and the men were 5+ years older, the money says that’s about right.
The CDC is regularly updated and they say this clearly and it’s been true for over a century. Women outlive men by at least 2-3 years. Where I’m at it seems more like a minimum of 7 or 8 years.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/life-expectancy.htm
For me the “weird sense of doom in the latter half of the 1970s” was entirely logical. Starting with say the Nixon shock in 1971, and you can now see lots of graphs to confirm economic parts of this, things really obviously started going to hell.
That latter half of the 1970s included the end of the Ford administration, who was painted by the media as hapless, not entirely unfairly, but see the Mayaguez incident for a muscular military counterpoint.
“Jimmy” Carter starting with his use of that nickname was hapless, and malevolently acted against American interests. He did plant a number of economic, and once he was shocked by the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan a few military seeds which can to fruition later, but it looked like in both areas things were going to hell with no recovery for the forseable future. Also beware comparing economic statistics like inflation and unemployment then and now, the former have been thoroughly gimped and we’re hearing issues about the latter.
And despite being a Democrat he didn’t have a friendly press, probably in part because he was such a nasty piece of work, partly because he was Officially overtly Christian, etc. So they didn’t give him cover like “Biden” and the results of insane energy policies, economics in general, bad foreign policy and ultimately “America Held Hostage [N] Days” banners on evening news when his response to the revolutionary Iranian seizure of the US embassy and its staff … didn’t make the grade. And the rescue attempt was characteristically botched in a deadly debacle.
And the threat from the Soviets was getting potentially existential, as for example the one warhead SS-8/R-36 was getting replaced by the MIRVed SS-18/R-36M. In terms of capabilities the Soviets were spending so much blood and treasure into their nuclear forces the intent and possible capability of a successful first strike was a looming concern. Recently revisionist history credibly claims that was a classic allocations of resources based on internal Soviet factions, but still, if they had the capability….
Carter’s responses to this, at least prior to Afghanistan were pathetic, he hated everything nuclear, canceled or delayed things right and left, and there was no pretense for anyone paying attention that there were going to be any strategic defenses, and civil defenses had previously been canceled as a poor way to buy votes vs. “crisis relocation.” So guys like Mel Tappan moved to eastern lower rural Oregon, best wind patterns for fallout and could feed itself, and those Guns & Ammo columns, some content may have ended up in his 1977 Survival Guns clasic, pretty sure some did in the 1980 Tappan on Survival and he inspired a lot of people.
Among other things, it took years for those Carter seeds and Reagan to return us to economic health, years to rebuild our military in the teeth of furious opposition from the New Left, SDI/Star Wars was never implemented and thus the nuclear threat was hanging over our head etc. etc. I was too young to learn about the survivalist movement until I lucked upon Bruce Clayton’s Life After Doomsday updated Dial Press paperback edition in a bookstore in 1982-3, but it made complete sense.
Oh, yeah, there was also the environment BS; I knew it was BS after we’d picked the low hanging fruit, but a lot of people bought it.
And what about optimism? Is there anything more optimistic than realistically planning to survive a full scale nuclear war? Today our steadily heating up cold civil war … very much different.
Oh, oh, I had something for this!
Here it is. Read it & weep!

LOL. Including the Racist Crime Of The Century in not just giving Angela Bassett Best Actor, Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress, and just giving Wakanda Forever Best Picture, forever. And Jamie Lee Curtis calling her Oscar trophy “them” and parading her awkward, mentally ill, and heavily-whiskered son around, to ward off all the racism curses for being a white woman who got an award.

Sex frequency has absolutely nothing to do with the fertility rate. The fertility crisis began in the early-mid seventies among boomer females. Gen Z fertility is only slightly lower than Boomer fertility was in the 70s. Women aren’t failing to get pregnant because they’re having sex 4 times a week instead of 8; it’s because they are wilfully choosing not to get pregnant.
The Soviet Union was the valhalla of law and order hardhats.
Irish and Italians have always been leftist pussies.
For all of American history, these groups have largely sided with whatever is the most anti-American, pro-left political ticket — be it anarchists in the 1900s, communists in the 20s, LBJ in the 60s, Clinton, Obama and Biden, inc. in recent years, etc.
The only “right wing” community in America is the Anglo community. Everybody else be leftist for life, leftist for crumbs.
is this not a symptom of a greater problem?
☮
Yeah Italians and Poles look super traditional twerking to the black music.
Then why were so many of them in prison?
Concur, but I will tell you as somebody who remembers the late 70s as a teenager, this is very much how things felt, and basically nobody predicted the Regan / Thatcher turn and the explosion of growth / fun / optimism literally even 12 – 24 months before they started.
Have hope!
George Soros through his 1,000 employee Open Society does develop plans and has funded the campaigns of progressive DAs in 75 US cities. George Soros is really smart, powerful, and has a master plan. It goes like this: keep crime high; stop gentrification; preserve black populations and voting machines; have a disciplined black vote during primaries; be able to control the candidate who Soros and successors want for Democratic primaries. During the heavily contested 2020 Democratic primary in which there was some suspiscion of vote rigging in Iowa, the discplined black vote ultimately saved the day and picked the oligarch choice of Joe Biden in South Carolina. Without the disciplined black vote, Latinos would join with white progressives to elect someone like Bernie Sanders and democracy would be out of the hands of Jewish oligarchs and based instead at the grassroots level.
Things are bad but not so glaringly bad that people are willing to accept changes yet. It took decades of living under Marxism before the Russians and Chinese gave up on it and started to move away from it. Putin is bad but not as bad as Stalin and Xi is bad but not as bad as Mao.
Like the late era Soviet Union, we are run by a senile kleptocracy. Biden is our Brezhnev. I was around when the Soviet Union existed and almost no one expected it to fall apart. Yet, it did.
lol. Communism, liar, is and was always the philosophy of the 1%. It has always festered and fermented there, in the addled and evil heads of those who ignore human behavior and God.
Rich kids in Ivory Towers telling each other how the poor “really” lived combined with rapacious gangsters (e.g. Stalin, Mao) and banksters (e.g. George Soros, Joseph Schiff) ripping people off for millions and billions and bankrupting the poor but pretending it was all ok because they were really using it to destroy the system and usher in a Brave New World of a Communist Utopia.
The working class liked unions, but they liked their religion, families, and freedom all the more.
I think the uglification is tied with the faux-lesbianism of college girls (GWUs, “Gay While Undergrad”), rise of weird sexualities like asexualism, and the trannyism of teen girls: all are partially a reaction of teen girls to massive online pornography, which scares them away from sex with men and makes them seek out ways to avoid it, as the sex they watch online is both disgusting and unloving.
Steve has commented about the trannyism tied to pornography, but uglification, asexualism, and GWUism are all encouraged by porn as well.
Agony Aunt letters/advice letters are 99% fake these days. They were probably 90% fake back in the newspaper days as well.
Basically, if you sit down and ponder who would write a letter to a corporate news rag asking for advice about an intimate, racy issue and allow it to be published for all the world to see, you’ll quickly realize how fake they are.
Hope I didn’t burst your fantasies.
P.S. Reddit posts are 100% fake for the same reasons.
I didn’t know about the 1st part, but, yes, the church’s budget depended on the older (mostly black) ladies’ SS checks. That’s not exactly specified in the Communist Manifesto, but to each according to his … needs …
Despite the fact that Steve is the world’s most foremost expert (thanks T-NC) on black exuberance, he still thinks a black degenerate dying in public and the resulting (lockdown-boredom incuded!) worldwide riots means that work-from-home “really did work well enough.”
A George Floyd was going to come about at some point given the forced circumstances, and your idealized technocratic-hygenic response to a novel but mild virus is almost entirely to blame. Either admit lockdowns were a joke brought upon us by the same people who treat blacks as their pets, or wholly own up to your (valid) idea that black criminality will fill any vacuum.
I’m continuing to doubt your supposed abilities for pattern-based thought the more you continue to assert that relegating us to video conferencing was a mostly good, well-intentioned necessity.
It’s about time America caught up to what Cambodia achieved in ’75.
This may explain why NYC and Boston still seem pretty safe to me, especially compared to the 1970s. The decline in the relative population of blacks in NYC has been noticeable over the past 40 years and is probably what saved New York from becoming Philadelphia. Maybe there is a conspiracy behind that? (The obvious one was letting in millons of Hispanic immigrants to “dilute” the black populations of LA, NYC and Chicago – all those cities clearly improved as a result of Latino immigration compared to cities where blacks were allowed to become absolute majorities- Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia)
Lol. Well he probably was, but I meant negrophiliac
Mostly to do with women going to university tbh.
your idealized technocratic-hygenic response to a novel but mild virus is almost entirely to blame
For people in Steve’s age bracket, and older, the virus is far from “mild”. That was the problem with the COVID response- we let old people dictate policy and damaged, possibly irreparably, the lives of our children. It’s exactly the self centered response one could have predicted from the “me” generation. We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to fix our demographic imbalance but muffed it. China’s response was even stupider though.
Heard a black guy from Philadelphia claim on a talk show that the surge in violence in the 2010s was from people moving in from New York.
OT — In what university discipline is the question asked, who should die?

Mommy’s little girl would never have a body count over 30!
Given who her parents were, the safe bet is a liter of Chardonnay a day cat lady
Bro look at the date of the article. I know girls my age and I don’t think any of them have a body count under five, including the ones who send out Christmas cards of them with hubby and three kids
Demonic, sure but it’s pants-on-head retarded. The number of cognitively normal adult “Native Americans” who don’t speak English is probably literally zero. And if there are a few on some Arizona reservation then they’re not “managers.”
Bah, Snake Pliskin? I heard he was dead.
OT — I know all will breathe a sigh of relief now that Pablo Escobar’s hippos, which have grown from a population of 4 to 160, will be translocated to zoos in Mexico and India. Returning them to their native Africa is not an option.

Why does Steve not mention Soros? I feel like Steve has become a gatekeeper. He stands at the edge but also tries to persuade people not to go further any look at Jewish power.
I’ll also note the America-centrism here. None of these people seem to be from outside the US, including the “Asian” boy (given how the term “Asian” is so often used in the US).
I’m generally a fan of preserving biodiversity, but hippos are some mean bastards so their fate isn’t very important to me.
Steve has become more informed in the last year about biglaw (he made an interesting observation about agreements prepared in biglaw resembling a programming language). Is a family member now working at a big law firm? Is the direct action arm of the ADL threatening to cause career havoc on a family member?
“The Era of Urban Supremacy Is Over”
Urban supremacy was based on the efficiency of people living in high density. Smaller living quarters, public transportation, stores are all very efficient. But Public transportation deteriorates over time and need to be rebuilt.
To an extent remote working and shopping has negated the advantages by lessening the need for public transportation and physical stores.
Depreciation is the worm in the apple of low density living. Eventually all living space needs to be rebuilt, at that time small high density living spaces have the advantage. Florida is starting to have problems with homeowners insurance for low density communities. All those little houses all have roofs which are both decaying in the sunlight and getting blown off by hurricanes.
Steve is very confused or naive… He keeps saying such things. He has such faith in the ruling elite, that he believes The Plan, such as it is, is to improve things. It isn’t. It is to destroy things.
But I do agree that there is not a Main Evil Guy (Schwab and Gates are just clowns), and that it is not so much a General Plan, as mere short-term greed.
“Hey, let’s do lockdowns to force-sell our useless vaccines to the whole world”.
“Hey, let’s make a war in the Ukraine to ‘extend Russia’ and make some money selling weapons and make Germany our bitch”.
“Hey let’s “defund the police” and promote Black riots to create crime chaos, then buy property cheap.”
“Hey let’s promote transgenderism to teens to make some money with drugs and surgeries and at the same time further reduce the birth rate.” (Well this last one makes no much sense, so it is probably being pursued for reasons other than money).
Etc, etc.
Nice to read your comments again, nebulafox. Welcome back!
Based on shifting geographical demographic data, I’ve been saying for a while now that Northern cities are becoming white+Asian on the right side of the tracks, Hispanics on the “wrong side” and blacks re-concentrating in the South again.
And the Era of Biden supremacy is about over too.
It increasingly looks like Joe is being persuaded not to to run for re-election.
Even by the standards of Sodom on the Potomac, the level of corruption is stunning.

As with a lot of things, including furniture, apparel, and leather goods, there seems to be increasing polarization of attractiveness among women. Meaning, I don’t see very many “average-looking” women these days. I increasingly either see many obese, tattooed, unattractive (and dumb) women with dumpy clothing or I see a few fit, attractive, and smart women who are well-dressed. Zip codes matter.
For that matter, I see the same among young men. Many are obese and video game-obsessed. A few are extremely fit and well-dressed.
Here’s a shocker. I had no idea it was 13.

I thought the same regarding the Cowboys. With Dak Prescott? Uhh, NO.
And of course, by making cities unlivable, the Media-Democrat Party is driving people to live in those oh-so energy-efficient suburban or increasingly ex-urban houses and drive many miles a week for work or shopping. At least the European Left is not so stupid as to think you can fight climate change and destroy cities at the same time.
Peggy Noonan wrote in the Wall Street Journal that “New York has the greatest parks and universities.” I know a Moose at Yellowstone who disagrees with this. I could not find a Cal Tech spokesman who would go on record regarding the greatest universities.
Well, Steve, forced school from home turned out to be a total f’n disaster that will take a decade to recover from.
Cities have other amenities, museums, cultural districts, restaurants, that are hard to find in the exurbs. Pre covid, the Silicon Valley tech companies were bussing in workers from San Fran to their offices down the peninsula.
The amenities have re-opened, but
– public transport is a shadow of what it was, with fewer busses and people more warry of riding them
– crime has become horrific in the downtown and is getting bad in city residential neighborhoods.
In Pittsburgh, the new Mayor seems to realize this because downtown is a ghost town. The former Mayor never went woke, but couldn’t fight the tide that saw a lot of blowback after a small number of killings by police. The new mayor was swept in by the woke vote, even though he seems to be in on the joke. But the problems becomes money, manpower, and zeitgeist.
Police cost money but no one wants the job. Cant say I blame them. I have multiple one degree of separations from policeman killed, none of killed by police. My wife insists on living in the city, but is starting to notice the crime problems.
Yes, what Pole was anti-Communist?
Idiot.
Trump made huge money buying property in crime-ridden, economically collapsing NYC during the 70s and 80s and going over the top in making it opulent. This was when Wall Street/Big corporations was moving a lot of its headquarters to Connecticut and the other suburbs.
Could Black Rock and Vanguard be the next Donald Trump?
“It’s common to theorize that somebody somewhere really smart and powerful (Klaus Schwab? Bill Gates? The CIA?) must have The Plan behind what is going on”
Followed by…
“urban elites then encouraged the Mostly Peaceful Protests and the subsequent rise in street crime.”
So, you do believe in conspiracy theories after all!

“Managerialism” destroys everything. Let’s have some more!
“She is outgoing, smart and attractive, and she has become a “big hit” with the single men at work, all of whom are older by five, six or more years.”
It’s been known for a long time statistically and anecdotally that women tend to have a preference for men 5 – 7
Years older than themselves.
So, these nutty parents are worried that their “precious snowflake” might be “normal?” Lol
Political Correctness would ruin any remake produced today.
If you watch tv and game shows from the 70’s (my wife’s favorite fare) you’ll notice almost everyone, men and women are thin, trim & have no visible tattoos. Fashion and color schemes, to be charitable, are hilarious. If you like big hair there’s lots of eye candy.
Jim Jones was literally the mentor of the Bay Area left that practically rules the Democratic party today. The rainbow flag, which is essentially the flag of the Democratic party, was modeled on the “rainbow family” concept he introduced.
Jim Jones’ influence on the Democrats is profound.
Yeah I’m sure the 1% have always been the sole proponents of an ideology that is designed to turn them in to fertilizer.
In reality all forms of Leftism have always been the pursuit of the unwashed masses, because Leftism is the way for them to indulge in the kinds of carnal sins that the “working” class is famous for.
If they liked their families and religion so much, what happened to the families and religion? The answer is that they traded all that shit in for drugs, alcohol, infertility, box wine and Twitter. The stuff that they ACTUALLY wanted. The Christian family is an institution that was IMPOSED on the working classes by the 1% that torturously prevented them from their ancestral ways of alcohol abuse, femdom, debauchery, public defecation, substance abuse, bestiality, and refried carbohydrate foodstuffs.
Yes. The lack of sexual activity of young adults today has several root causes. One reason is social media and porn. Another cause is the lower testosterone levels of men due to the poor health of Americans, increased obesity and lack of physical fitness. American culture has also changed , resulting in a decrease in the number of practicing Christians and a decline in marriage rates.
The decline in sexual activity began twenty years ago. Back in 1999 12% of Americans aged 18-29 had no sex during the previous 12 months. In 2019 23% had no sex during the previous 12 months. Last year 30% had no sex over the last 12 months. For Gen Z the numbers are even higher with 40% of them not having any sex last year.
Are you one of these slobs who thinks dressing well and appreciating beautiful, elegantly-attired women is “gay”?
I come from a family culture that emphasizes putting our “Sunday best” on for church, but still can be rugged where and when appropriate.
Those big cities have too many people riding in the wagon and not enough people pulling the wagon. The louder the riders demands get, the more pullers walk away and look for smaller wagons that have better ratios of productive citizens to deadbeats.
Partly agree. There was a segment of the American left that worked against Communists and tried to keep them off the ballot and out of the union hall.
That this group is now ball-gagged and locked in a closet is unfortunate.
Don’t believe everything the media shows you.
Jim Jones was also a homosexual, another thing the media hides.
Yes, the Democratic Party is a death cult. But the Republican Party isn’t far behind in its lust for group suicide.
Agree. Parents seemed happy to reinforce the message that no man is good enough; and one should spend their fertile years in service to corporate overlords.
Even UCLA basketball looks good again.
South Carolina is one of the most violent states in the nation! And its civic fabric is frayed. Taxes are high.
My family is from there, and I love aspects of it. But it’s not a tough call to stay in a city that’s safe from the shocking degree of gun death in the South.
Drinking age of 21. Ruined college for everyone.
“…as they exit downtowns marred by empty offices, vacant retail space and a deteriorating tax base.”
Any other reasons why people might be exiting?
Man! The bad decisions emanating from that group must have been positively epic!
“…bet against places with growing black populations like Atlanta,…”
I live outside Atlanta, and my experience is that Southerners don’t put up with the shenanigans of blacks that Northerners tolerate.
This. There was something of a recent bubbling-up of interest, the book “Raven” was well-researched except in the care taken to not mention that Jones was a communist using only the thinnest veneer of Christianity, who appealed to the Soviet Union for asylum and was rejected because the Sovoks thought he was crazy. San Francisco royalty committed to visit and help him in a million ways until it became obvious even to them that this was dumb. Before he died a fundraising banquet was planned and the invite list is pretty shocking. Harvey Milk was elected because Jones ordered his cultist slaves to serve as campaign volunteers for him. “Cult City” by Dan Flynn is the only book to focus on the embrace by bay area Democrat politicians of Jones.
Got a source for your stats?
It’s called the New York Times. I imagine some of its readers live there.
Meanwhile back on planet earth in the ’70’s, Russia sent troops to support the legitimate Government of Afghanistan in it’s fight with terrorist groups.
Yeah, there was this whole ‘white ethnic’ (Italian, Irish, Polish) group that tended to vote Democrat in mid century for economic reasons and left in the late 20th century following the Southerners. Some of it was the loss of unions, which meant the Dems were more free to go after affluent liberals and poor minorities. Some of it was the rise in urban crime. Of course since political parties try to deliver for their constituents these things become self-reinforcing—the GOP is a lot more welcoming to Catholics than it was 100 years ago, to say the least.
That group has pretty much melted into the mainstream white group at this point, I think. Look at all the prominent conservatives with Irish backgrounds.
That is increasingly common, though. A slovenly dressed man may be a lot of things, but he is much less likely to be gay than average.
Of course, it means it’s easier than ever to be a sharp dressed man.
How many other guys out there remember when, sometime back in the second or third grade, you realized that with some women teachers, the kids who got the most attention in class were the ones who showed some disability or deficiency? In contrast with another woman teacher from another grade or classroom who showered more attention on the boys (or girls) who were rambunctious and had spirit?
Unfortunately for us, the ladies who favor the weak are psychologically driven to appoint themselves to gatekeeper positions from which they censor with sadistic glee. They really like hurting spirited boys or men. Fortunately, there are plenty of women out there who aren’t like this.
Is that actually the case though? I don’t know what gays (in real life, not the “fabulous” movie versions) look like in real life on average, but my wife and I bought a house from two homosexuals years and years ago, and they were rather dumpy – obese, lots of unkempt facial hair, and in the standard IT office drone attire (“relaxed-fit” khaki pants and polo shirts that fit like a sail).
Hip huggers, hot pants and tube tops made the 70s worth living in the teen years.

Oh my God, you can rock a sleeve of tattoos OR a three-piece suit, depending on the situation? You’re like the perfect man. I’m one of those slobs who appreciates the outfits of beautiful, elegantly unatired women–strewn on my bedroom floor.
Bears!
Last time I was on the beach in Florida, I noticed a group of eight kids, male & female, in their young twenties playing volleyball. What was surprising was that there was not a tat in sight.
They were either Christians or rebelling against their fat, tatted parents. In any case, there may be some hope for some corner of America.
There’s a lot more sex going on in those schools – and always has been – than the neurotic, save the world, am I a boy or a girl? overpriced campuses.

Gee, what do these failing cities all seem to have in common?
MOG
One can juggle with pros & cons, try to find any causal connection, but it’s all: blacks are the root cause of dysfunction, criminality, violence & degradation in any society IF not strictly monitored and treated like perpetual crime-prone adolescents with something essentially human missing.
Africa, North America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Middle East- it doesn’t matter. Only black-free societies have a reason for optimism. Not sufficient, but necessary.
Lockdowns were necessary & have been put into practice by all civilized societies. If someone thinks that he, as a clueless common-sense nobody, is somehow fundamentally more correct than all the experts in all countries that matter- good luck. Also, if one thinks that China, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, US, Russia, Norway, Italy, Spain, Argentina, UK, France…. are all in thrall of some world conspiracy, all I can do is my usual recommendation:
Hey, I’m as progressive as the next guy, but if gays want to be legal they should have to be clean, neatly-groomed, and not eat much.
The 70’s were awful, fashion wise. I liked men’s fashion in the 80’s’ which really began in ‘78 or so; bright colors, trimmer fit… didn’t love the short shorts and pegged pants, though.
Detroit? Are there any non-black people still in Detroit? Aren’t black people still a solid majority in D.C as well?
Those places with shrinking black pops may have have shrinking black pops but they’re all very liberal and something like SF’s plan for $5M reparations (will see what actually gets implemented) is to be expected. Want to be paying your share of that?
Bring them up to the Louisiana bayou
I heard it argued a few years back that blacks moving back down south would turn southern states blue and bluer Midwest states red.
Not really happening yet I think, other than Georgia becoming a swing state.
And they are now waving millions of low skilled, low IQ, low conscientiousness people over the border just as we rush toward the age of AI/robotics and will see millions of low skilled jobs destroyed–assembly, warehousing, driving, fast food, cleaning …
The COVID-19 pandemic did no such thing. Whenever people say “COVID did this” or “COVID did that”, they are wrong. It was the completely unprecedented and insane response to COVID that did those things.
Trust the plan. The next stage is to lure boomers into cities with:
-zoning laws that favour hobbies over working
-mobile stroke units (Cities are the safest place, actually!)
-curfew between 2100 and 0400
-petanque
-subsidised wine
-and more!
They will price reproductive age women out of the barren areas and thus save our demographics.
For the most part, people— esp. younger people— who are out of shape give up trying to dress nicely and stop paying attention to grooming. It’s a vicious cycle and the more out of the shape they get the less concern for how they look and dress.
There is another MAJOR health catastrophe coming down the pike which might dwarf every problem and it’s gonna come like a tidal wave. Dementia.
It is extremely important for all human beings, especially aging ones, to remain physically active. It’s the sine qua non for brain health along with proper weight. Never have Americans and others in industrialized nations been fatter and less active. No doubt due to fat acceptance, technology jobs, video games, etc.
The elderly in nursing home today carried much less weight around and remained much more physically active than the 18 to 55-year-olds of today and we always hear of the current crisis of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Add to that the greater use of brain-rotting and mental disease effects of marijuana and it’s clear it’s gonna be a shit show.
Every aging adult needs to read this book by Prof. John Ratey, M.D. of Harvard Medical School:
Remember the “metrosexual”? Just a straight guy who tucked in his shirt!
I’m wearing a tie* to my first-grader’s classroom for “reading and rolls”. Cinnamon rolls! She’s reading me Fox in Socks, which features a character named Joe Crow. (©1965!) Before that, it was Seuss’s Wocket, which had a “Zellar” in the cellar, immediately bringing to mind the Gear Daddies’ Martin.) Mine may have been the only necktie in the building.
*My only Tommy Hilfiger product. But it’s really snazzy, the fat part red and the skinny part turquoise, and his name is nowhere to be seen but the hidden tag. It’s this one, but solid colors rather than patterns. Sadly, thanks to the gooey rolls, I had to protect it with a pullover. Only the red was visible.
Trump bet on a still white nation with his big Boomer cohort in its prime earning years.
Now our elites have gone “all in” ideologically on the sanctity of black crime, and the nation is truly multi-ethnic and rapidly Latinizing. Even a lot of white people who like “urban”–and most are not obsessed with it–are going to stay away so they can live as “white”.
Look to say, more optimistically Rio, more pessimistically Caracas, to see how our cities are going to look. (And there’s no American city with the natural drama of Rio–though LA is pretty darn spectacular and has better weather.)
I predict a lot of personal attempts at separationism. People have a natural right to live–make community with–whom they want. This right is thwarted by the minoritarian super-state, so people will be attempting to cobble it together on their own, as they see fit, as best they can.
If we keep importing people who don’t see things as bad or know how nice things were, or who would not likely even appreciate old America, the downward spiral may just settle on permanently awful.
I visited Leningrad, Vyborg and several small towns on the Finnish border in June of 1989 during Perestroika, and I remember a cab driver saying something about the system falling. Everyone was trying to buy and sell something, and the impression I had was that at least ordinary people were looking forward to the system falling. It was a long time ago, but I remember the conversations being spontaneous and the people I spoke with as ordinary people. I was a naive and apolitical teen at the time, but I don’t doubt the authenticity of the people I spoke to.
Some of our contemporary politicians feel that 30 is a good age to shower with your 11 year old daughter
I’m an absolute, 100% unmitigated slob. Period. I was a little worried when I attended my daughter’s high school graduation because I thought I might be underdressed. I wore a tie, but not a sport coat or suit. I needn’t have worried. I couldn’t believe what people wore. Multiple fuckers showed up in gym shorts and t-shirts. I looked like European royalty compared to these idiots.
All of the underground (under rock in Manhattan’s case) public utilities and transportation systems are too expensive to repair/maintain–especially with today’s labor force– thus cheaper to abandon and rebuild elsewhere. Besides, architects need a jobs program.
15 minute cities. A new wrinkle in the “wreck the city” and buy real estate for pennies on the dollar trick is that the revival will be enhanced by the new “rubes can stay home “ while the elite create paradise in Manhattan and every great downtown water front property with a 15 minute fence that keeps out tourists and puts Brooklyn, et al., beyond the Pale.
My Pop was an Irish union guy, and in the fifties his union (mike quills TWU – all IRA guys) made a concerted effort to be known as anti-communist- precisely because they WERE reds in the old country and had lived through a civil war (1923-ish) where the reds were lined up and shot. They expected the same thing here.
True, but- Soros is just a billionaire. One person. There are people richer than him.
And what are they doing to expose his machinations or reverse the trend?
I’m tired of those stories about the all-powerful Soros. Where are other plutocrats? Are they brainless? Passive? What the hell are they (not) doing?
And what kind of system is it that allows such machinations?
You’d have to take several healthy females of reproductive age to, well, reproduce. And several healthy males to do everything else. Nothing else would matter, which would get me in deep shit with HR

The selection criterea have already been addressed.
I have never understood the idea that driving will go away. The self-driving car has been around the corner for more than five years. In addition, does anyone ever believe that gasoline will be delivered by a robotic tanker truck.
Most automation in the services means pushing off tasks that used to be done by an employee to the customers. Image the robotic restaurant delivery truck from sysco pulls up to the restaurant and texts the manager to come out and unload the order. That means that the restaurant will require more employees.
Speculation is rife that Credit Suisse will be the next domino to fall. What could possibly be wrong with an organization run by serious, sober bankers?
I think America is (or was) hardhat valhalla.
They may have been pushed to the exurbs these days, so they don’t bother protesting urban commie mayors, but they are still around. But there are a lot less of them.
The Hard Hat Riot and the Boston Busing Riots marked the break between the Left and the white working class. The “party of the working man” became the minoritarian party. The white working class turned around and elected Ronald Reagan in two landslides. The Left fought back by offshoring the manufacturing base and opening the borders.
Yeah, I remember those days well and the prevailing mood was dark indeed. Reagan was portrayed as an actor/buffoon and we still feared annihilation from what was perceived to be a massively strong Soviet Union. Interest rates for everything were routinely double digits, so it was very difficult for young people to get started in anything. Fed Chair Volker gets a lot of the retrospective credit for holding the line on stagflation, even though it definitely gave a grimmer hue to our lives.
I don’t see any similar characters on our political horizon, but, as you mentioned, none of expected what we got out of Reagan and Thatcher either.
It’s still mostly black, but the black population is plummeting. In a few years, there won’t be many left. The most black suburb of Detroit lost blacks. Blacks are leaving the entire area. Both Chicago and Detroit are losing blacks in the suburbs. Chicago metro area had decline in black population in almost every single suburb and neighborhood. The entire state of IL is losing blacks at an incredible pace.
Blacks lost DC majority status a long time ago. It was the original Chocolate City:
Black birth rates are below replacement now. The remaining blacks in Northern cities are increasingly elderly, meaning fewer and fewer black children are born there. The blacks most likely to go South are those just graduating from school and new parents.
As long as you ignore Zionism.
From what I see; and stats of the labor market etc.; the current imports never were in on the plan to worship the GDP. Had one tell me that AI and robots were for his benefit; he’s here to harvest the windfall.

……instead of cyanide its spike protein …the steady march of progress.
Which one are you?

Cities won’t be the same without white people to inhabit them. Same in the UK.
Still, London is a magnet for young whites looking to kickstart a career, just as was for me and as it’s been all my life. The trick is realising, as Joan Didion put it, that “it is distinctly possible to stay too long at the Fair“.
Stay too long and you end up like this lady:

Anyone can call themself a “anti-communist” while still advocating for Communism and voting for Leftist policies. Allegations of communism are just a way for someone to make themselves feel more “authentic” and traditional than an opponent — and we all know how the ethnic Americans harbor feelings of inauthenticity and rootlessness.
Small town red America has already been overrun by fruits and nuts:
https://americanmind.org/salvo/hicklibs-on-parade/
“Gen Z is having even less sex than the millennials, who had less sex than the boomers. This is a big reason for the steep decline in birth rates for young women under 30. It also explains why young women suffer from high rates of anxiety and depression today.”
Yes, but on average they’ll still be clocking up a higher body count than Silents (who’d be married by 21) or late Boomers who’d have boyfriends maybe for 2 or 3 years before marrying or splitting.
Thank God my dating years were before apps. I’d be celibate now!
20% of guys are getting 80% of the girls, so obviously those guys have to spread themselves a lot thinner…
When this pbotograph was taken, America was already practicing Communism. Graduated income tax, property taxes, social security, welfare, affirmative action (EO 11246, passed four years before this riot by their champion LBJ), women’s suffrage… America satisfied all basic tenants of Communism and it was ethnic Americans such as the ones pictured here who voted it in.
American industry wasn’t offshored by the Left, it was done by the Right, and this was an attempt at de-communizing America by killing the unions. Your problem is that you don’t realize you are a Communist — or you don’t want to admit it.

Indeed, there were massive layoffs as early as last fall. I think these disproportionately hit recent hires who were working remotely. On Indeed, there seem to be fewer legit remote opportunities. In the future, more remote work will be hybrid, especially sales, where in person meetings can help close a deal.
“Funny how you hear a million gender words these days, but never ‘unisex’.”
“Unisex” is too genuinely inclusive for today’s youth. It’s not special enough for special snowflakes.
There are still a lot out in Detroit’s suburbs.
“Jamie Lee Curtis calling her Oscar trophy “them” and parading her awkward, mentally ill, and heavily-whiskered son around, to ward off all the racism curses for being a white woman who got an award.”
WTF–?! Bloody effing offensively deliberately ugly.
As a boomer myself, I am disgusted by so many boomers embracing this repulsive lunacy because they want to be perceived as relevant and attractive. I have nothing but contempt and loathing for them and I wish them all the worst.
The following does NOT apply to anyone afflicted with an illness or injury that could not be prevented:
Old age without dignity is revolting and really, should be grounds for being tossed into the gulag.
I’m not sure which is crazier.
– That they start off by asking this.
– The information they choose to present for use in making the decision.
If you were really faced with this choice wouldn’t you want to know who has the best chance of surviving and rebuilding? As a group (e.g. diversity vs. cohesiveness). The trolley problem (see Steve’s link in his response) at least does not have that flaw. Though the objection about choosing based on those characteristics still applies.
Quite telling IMO. (in multiple ways, but notable in expecting survival to be handed to them with nothing needed to be done on their part, and no reward for those who enabled any survival at all)
P.S. An interesting angle on this is that in a real situation like that there would be good reason to favor both women and genetic diversity. Unless you were also able to carry a suitcase full of genetic material.
P.P.S. Another interesting angle is how the exercise requires making use of stereotypes. This also applies to the trolley problem.
Thinking about this a bit more, what would be a principled response to being faced with this? Some possibilities.
– Vocally running a lottery to choose as the only truly “fair” solution.
– Not enough information to choose (e.g. see survival comments above) so refuse to answer.
– Absurd question so refuse to answer.
– Choosing anti-woke or woke versions and then treating it as a joke and saying you did not mean it, but boy were everyone else’s responses (overall or specifically to you) enlightening.
– Not answering while explaining in detail why this is absurd (this comment).
(any more?)
Has anyone done an exercise like this? Where do the DIE people go with the results of that exercise? Any non-believers out themselves and get to see how they were treated?
Duke Kawasaki, a Honolulu politician of fifty or more years ago, advised his tech marketer (and eventual venture capitalist) son always to dress better than his audience. They would take it as a sign of respect, at least subconsciously. Exactly how that works out in Hawaii, I don’t know– his visitation notice called for “aloha attire”:
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/183291506/duke-takeshi-kawasaki
Son Guy backtracked a bit on this, saying being too neat and dressy can backfire in Silicon Valley. Had Jobs only put as much into his clothing as into his product design, the Valley might look quite different today.
He’s also 92. How much day-to-day control does he have? My guess is that his sons run things now, and are ideological clones of their dad.
HomoAfroNecrophelia is one thing. I can at least see the draw there. It’s the Communism that I just don’t get.
How naive gullible and just plain retard level dumb Anon 130 is. That letter to the advice column is a complete fake, a very totally quite completely obvious fake. And only an utterly naive retard level idiot would believe that letter. And post it on Unz for MEN OF UNZ with similar levels of naivety, gullibility, retard level IQ involuntarily celibate and obsessed with women from age 11 to 25 in a totally bizarro weirdo way.
Here’s a few indications anon 130 is totally completely unaware of reality. Here are facts about girls, boys and young men and women everyone who hasn’t spent his entire life locked in a closet knows.
1 for late teens and young adults college, not the first few years out of college is the time of debauchery drugs and sex. After graduation sex is much harder to find for both men and women.
2 The implication is that the daughter and the parents are White. Every White man, even the naive gullible retard MEN OF UNZ know that White men were banned from every workplace decades ago. Last place in the world a White woman can find a White man is her workplace.
3 Even when they’re living at home young adults don’t talk to their parents much about their romantic lives or people they just know casually at work. They just don’t. A young woman will
speak with young woman friends or a sister about men she knows at work. But not with parents especially if they live in another city.
Anon 130 is such a sexually deprived pervert he is madly jacking off thinking about this non existent young woman in a fake letter written by her non existent parents about the non existent men in her workplace. This is a mad mastrubator who lives on the internet. A naive gullible brainwashed retard who believes something published in the anti White communist hate America and White Americans radical left wing PR agent of the democrat party Washington post
Avoid those who look like you, and you will be safe from the shocking gun death. Friendly advice… and no charge, at that!
Left wing people shot after Irish Civil War ? I don’t think so. Compared to other civil wars the Irish death totals are minuscule. But the bitterness lasted for decades.
I grew up around lots of working class men, and they all had Bill Friday hair, no facial hair, wore leather shoes, slacks and button up shirts at all times. I don’t recall any of them wearing t-shirts or having tattoos. They weren’t fat, either. There may have been something of a Drew Carey vibe, but they looked much better than most men of any class today.
Lots of women are in better shape today, and obviously eat better and exercise, but the tattoos, grunginess, lousy, entitled attitudes, and wokeness make them extremely annoying.
Off Topic, but we need to talk about the latest attack on white people coming from jews high up in the establishment:
ALL OF SHAKESPEARE’S PLAYS ARE ABOUT RACE
A new book argues that the playwright’s work was central to defining whiteness as a racial category—one that has persisted ever since.
By Daniel Pollack-Pelzner
https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2023/03/white-people-in-shakespeare-book-plays-race/673341/
We have the jew Daniel Pollack-Pelzner, under the jew editor and IDF torturer Jeffery Goldberg, attacking white people and white culture openly.
On the top section of front page of the Atlantic website right now — https://www.theatlantic.com/ — I count eight or nine jews and seven or eight non-jews.
Jews — ARTHUR C. BROOKS, DAVID FRUM, JESSICA WAPNER, MATTHEW DALLEK, ADAM SERWER, NATHAN KOHRMAN, YAIR ROSENBERG & CONOR FRIEDERSDORF.
Non-Jews — JERUSALEM DEMSAS(black), VANN R. NEWKIRK II(black), TOM NICHOLS(white), XOCHITL GONZALEZ(mexican), SHIRLEY LI(chinese), ANNIE ABRAMS(black) & ROOSEVELT MONTÁS(dominican).
We also have ANNIE LOWREY, who appears to be white but who is married to zionist media jew Ezra Klein. I can’t find out if she converted or not.
So we have eight solid jews, three blacks, two hispanics and only two white people, at least one married to a jew. This is jewish supremacy ruling over white people in action. A MENA category in the Census would make it much harder for jews to pretend to be white people as they usurp our civilization and spew hate at us from their high perches. Few people under aged 60 think of jews as being real “white people,” just like they don’t think arabs, iranians and turks are “white people” either. That thinking will die with the boomers.
Money doesn’t determine the winner. Soros has spent decades building a huge organization with lots of grants given to other organizations. He sits on top of a huge web of relationships. Those people don’t want to criticize him. Other rich people and influential figures who even disagree with him will hold back on criticism because Soros is Jewish. Calling a Jewish person a puppet master especially when he is a puppet master will get you in big trouble. Jews will cricle the bandwagons around another Jew if necessary to keep antisemitism from rising.
I didn’t disagree with your entire comment. Only…
“ A twenty two year old woman? She’ll settle down as soon as she’s pregnant.”
Not todays twenty two year old woman. She going to be a “baby momma.”
Party her ass off, ride the carousel till her looks – body is shot, and hold out into her mid – late thirties expecting to marry a jacked doctor / lawyer / business executive, buy a McMansion in the suburbs, and hope to pop out a couple more “anchor kids,” and become a suburban soccer mom.
This isn’t even a new trend. It’s been going on since the mid – late nineties and is worse now. They do not want to “settle” young. They think they have infinite options and the party is never going to end, until reality smacks them in the face. “The wall.”
Wow , white man /white woman in ad …..I think my blood pressure just dropped a little.
Take the L-he scalped you!
LOL-voting for one of two “Elite” choices for President, bad or worse being the choices generally, is “voting in Communism” by choice–you’re a loon
It seems like we are back to the 70’s in many, if not all, ways.
Only the fashion is worse. The disco’s didn’t like Walmart!
Irish, Italians and Poles were never “anti-communist”. Most communism in America was formented in ethnic neighborhoods and these ethnic groups vote majority Democrat.
My grandfather who got off the boat from Italy in 1936 to escape El Duce would beg to differ… all he seemed to rail about was, that “sum in a bitch Mussolini,” and the dirrrrty Jews!
The President reflects what their constituents want (in the case of Italians, Poles and Irish that means food stamps, twerking, free sex changes, more time off from “work”, bigger govt pensions, etc).
I’m not sure this is happening so much as the two parties making a corrupt perhaps Trump inspired bargain that the Democrats would get the national statewide votes, for President and Senators, and the GOPe for the statewide state positions. Not having Stacy Abrams in elected office might also be a motivation for both sides.
Unfortunately I think your counter-trend observations are the result of your private-school breeder suburban Catholic circle.
My observation is that the bottom half of young white women are a disaster now. But even among the top 10%, educated and fit children of doctors, the rate of hideous piercings and tattoos is very high compared to 10 or 20 years ago.
The main positive force for both sexes is healthy food and knowledge about nutrition are easier to access.
Speaking of George Soros, what’s Bend the Arc hyping now?
The “Narrative” about the Irish Civil War was “irreconcilables” vs. “moderates”/ “hard-core” republican separatists vs “moderate” nationalists but the dirty little secret is that the vast majority of the “anti-treatyites” were socialists and the Michael Collins/Arthur Griffith faction was proto-fascist. Many more executions were carried out by the Free State government during the civil war than by the British during the war of independence, with socialists Rory O’Connor and Liam Mellows particularly singled out for elimination. From a distance, it is plain that the wave of strikes that was sweeping the Emerald Isle horrified the English and played a large part in Lloyd George’s insistence that Collins/Griffith put down the incipient bolshevik rising that threatened to mimic the Russian two-step revolution (the abdication of the Czar and creation of Provisional Government under Kerensky followed by the knock-on October Revolution). It was bloody, bitterly fought, and continued on and off for the rest of the twentieth century.
IIRC, the Soviets were invited by that Afghan government. The Russians were invited into Syria.
The US was invited in neither country.
One of Steve Sailer’s more obscure rules is male-trannies tend to adopt names that were popular when they were teenaged girls. “Ruby” (the trans name adopted by Jamie Lee’s son) was considered kind of hick and declasse’ even by Jamie Lee’s generation (I’m five years behind her). I don’t know any women in my peer group or anybody’s mom named Ruby even in the rural South. I remember that Kenny Rogers song though. Maybe he got it from there, or maybe it’s his birthstone.
Law-as-programming has been a trope of Steve’s for many years now.
Not that he’s wrong about it, to be clear.
Every “Anon” is a loon. That’s why they’re anon.
“Caitlyn” was almost unknown in the 1960s.
https://namerology.com/baby-name-grapher/

It’s also misspelled and mispronounced with respect to its Irish roots.
You sure it wasn’t Argentina?
Henry Mancini didn’t understand why his Abruzzi father was the only Italian in West Aliquippa who refused to support FDR. But he was damned proud that his father was the only Italian in West Aliquippa to refuse to support Mussolini.
“The Left fought back by offshoring the manufacturing base”
JFC, that was the Right. The white working class got bamboozled by voting in the elitist GOP and their anti-union and trickle down policies.
Ronald Regan authorized the off shoring of manufacture customer service and everything else.
The worst president ever , Carter created the federal department of education. Regan promised to abolish it soon as he became president. Regan didn’t. It’s morphed into something worse than anyone expected.
Regan also amnestied gazillions of non White illegal immigrants. Regan ignored school bussing and black on White crime. Regan’s EEOC vigorously enforced the no White men and only lesbian communist White women need apply laws it was during his administration that all the slaughter houses meat processors closed down for regulation. And opened up a year later with illegal Alien Indian Hispanics or even worse, legal Muslim Somalians “ refugees”
Under Regan the civil rights for all but Whites unit of the department of justice flourished and grew like a noxious poisonous invasive weed. Before BLM, George Soros and the satanic ADL AJC ACLU NAACP coalition organized the rioters, it was the civil right for all but Whites unit of the justice department that organized the riots. Every scum black activist preacher and organizer, of every communist Jew organization had the civil rights for all but Whites unit 800 number with live operators 24/7 to send the federal into to help organize the black rioters. And punish any mayors police whoever tried to stop the riots.
Regan could have abolished the civil rights for all but Whites unit of the department of justice. Regan also created an entire unit of activist Jew Nazi hunters. Millions of goy dumpkopf taxpayers money paid to jews searching for imaginary Nazis.
Don’t listen to what he says. Look at what he does. It’s an old French saying.
The last American president who wasn’t actively anti White was Franklin Roosevelt. Back in the olden day’s.
When I think of Irish I don’t think ‘internationalist’ so as a consequence I don’t think ‘Leftist.’
1. >=20% Negro population
2. Negro mayor
3. Negro schools superintendent
4. many Negro judges
5. Negro DAs
6. Negro police commissioner
7. feckless liberal white population
8. local media afraid to report on interracial crime
9. Negro social parasitism
10. white flight
Italians and Poles were heavily communist, but few Irish Americans were involved in communism or hardline socialism. Irish people supported labor unions instead and were the backbone of the labor movement. Irish were to unions and labor laws what jews were to communism.
Since Ireland has been independent, it has been the most politically center-right dominated country in Europe, with the weakest socialist movement.
You’re Italian? You should know it’s “Il Duce,” not El Duce.
“One of Steve Sailer’s more obscure rules is male-trannies tend to adopt names that were popular when they were teenaged girls. “Ruby” (the trans name adopted by Jamie Lee’s son) was considered kind of hick and declasse’ even by Jamie Lee’s generation (I’m five years behind her). I don’t know any women in my peer group or anybody’s mom named Ruby even in the rural South.”
I think that may be a trend among the woke. Jackie Lehto, aka The Sarcastic Baker, named her first born bio girl “Ruby”. (The second is named “Cora”, also a name that went out of fashion.)
The woke generally seem to be co-opting what earlier generations decided was tacky, no doubt as a poke in the eye to normies. Now that I’ve said this, I can’t think of any other specific examples but I have been aware of it on social media.
Oh and in solidarity with trans freaks, wokesters have been specifying in their social media profiles what pronouns they use.
Thanks for replying to my cranky rant.
Hi Steve
I haven’t had time to read this thread oe even learn definitively what your take is but the title made me think of reminding you of things probably familiar to your omni orous fact hunting mind.
You would know that, even in 1900 Australia, at least the S and SE was about as urbanised as any country, partly because of its bast desert areas. As Melnourne (a little behind Sydney) has grown from 1 to 5 mullion in my lifetime, there have of course been attempts to at least supplement the old CBD with suburban centres nearer the growing suburban populations but my family have mostly stuck to the old max 5 miles (less to N and W) from the CBD. I live less than a mile from the centre of the old CBD and here I come to my point. I hve a major public and major private hospital within walking distance, likewise many medical specialists, and two other major public hospitals a short drive away.
So what the he’ll can it be like in the country where you might drive for hours to get your cancer diagnosed with MRI, etc. and many more etcs!?
Another 97 year old ancienne heard from.
Where have you been for the last 55 years since the affirmative action law was passed? Comatose in a nursing home? Whites don’t get government pensions because it’s against federal and state laws and county and city ordinances to hire Whites. And has been for more than 50 years.
Reading UNZ comments is like watching 1930s movies. Times have changed. Whether you noticed or not.
When Montreal wins the Stanley Cup again, then we’ll know shit’s getting real.
“The Era of Urban Supremacy Is Over”
The folks who really run our Urbans are feeling quite secure in their Supremacy, IMHO.

This little DIE exercise is almost the perfect encapsulation of the toxic mind bubble of minoritarianism:
All whiny oppression crap, but no focus on what’s actually critical for society–the ability to survive and reproduce itself.
~~
The list is laughably bad. Limited space, who’d want any of these people.
In any case, with the info available, my cut:
— Substance abuse accountant — No. No use for “substance abuse” losers. Don’t want them–or their genes–around.
— Militant black med student — Hard No; absolute bottom; the one core characteristic of any post-apocalypse survival regime should be “never again”
— 33 year old native American — Weak Yes; borderline breeding stock
— Account’s pregnant wife — Yes; proven breeding stock
— Disabled novelist — LOL
— 21 year old muslima — Yes; prime breeding stock; We absolutely don’t want any muslim nonsense on reboot, so no to all muzzie guys, but the women will become non-muslims in the right hands.
— Hispanic anti-homo clergyman — No. Props to his sanity, but upside?
— Female movie star recently sexually assaulted — Yes, flyer. No age info. But recently sexually assaulted sounds like at least Weinstein was still interested, so maybe still breeding stock. Obviously, actresses are a poor choice of personality traits, but options are limited here.
— Racist armed cop — Yes! He’s our leader and lead stud. We know he’s based. “Racist” means he is at least capable of empiricism–has been able to figure out who the criminals tend to be. He’ll keep the ship in line. And may well have some basic hard guy skills fixing stuff.
— Homo — LOL.
— Asian orphan kid — No, if other ships are going. Otherwise, Weak Yes. 50-50 on smarts. But under the tutelage of racist cop, we should be able to learn stuff and fill in the gap as the next generation grows up. And in a few years can be backup for breeding the girls.
— 60 year old Jewish university admin — Toughest choice. If there are other ships going–then no.
But if this is it, then very weak yes. We don’t know man/woman. If he’s a STEM PhD who has gone over to do admin, then would be hard yes. Could know some useless knowledge and breed the girls with quality seed. But as advertised probably a problem. So I say take him/her on board, and the racist cop should be instructed to kill him if he turns out to be a useless pain in the ass.
Did I pass?
I am in financial services in the Bay Area and it has been the practice for many years to move the “Back Office” to parts of the country or world where the cost of living is much less. Why pay Silicon Valley salaries when you can hire ‘normal’ well adjusted people to do things like accounting, software, telephone servicing, etc. They show up on time and don’t have an attitude.
My son works in Texas for a California company and their day is synchronized with California not Texas. This is much how it goes for stockbrokers who revolve around the New York Stock Exchange. This is why Buenos Aries is ideal if you are doing business in Europe and America because it is right in between. The only problem is that they speak a funny language.
Another 97 year old heard from.
Because of affirmative action there are so few White doctors around there are few White children of doctors. It’s 2023 not 1923.
I wonder what you look like old man. Pot belly wrinkles bald head flabby, wrinkled clothes wearing oversized shorts and T shirts for every occasion and obsessed with the appearance of teen and young adult women who reject your perv advances.
You know how you can tell your Super Bowl tickets are fake?
They have the words Dallas Cowboys on them.
Laughably uninformed comment by you. There were only about 2000 people or so killed in the Irish Civil War in total, a small amount for a Civil War per capita or in absolute terms. There were only 81 people TOTAL executed by the Irish during that conflict, and the most important. event by far was the execution of 4 IRA Officers in December 8th, of Rory O’Connor and 3 like him, none of whom were Communist, just Anti-Treaty.
Your heavy lack of knowledge of the Irish Civil War is telling and also compliments your ridiculous comment and prediction of the present.
In addition the Irish heavily voted for FDR in the United States, who did more to bring the USA closer to Communism at home and abroad than any other President. Good friends with Uncle Joe and of Government workers, expenditure, and greater Government control of the economy. Fortunately Anglo-Americans were able to prevent him from doing too much damage.
True, and despite what my comments might imply, I’m weirdly optimistic. This isn’t based off anything other than a gut hunch aided by a personal factor or two, so it’s not something I’ve developed the confidence to talk about much, but I genuinely believe the US can shock everybody, fix its problems, and get back to what it was supposed to be.
(Do you find it telling that nobody in our chattering classes likes to talk about the frontier anymore?)
That said, I also feel deep in my bones that this isn’t going to be quick or painless, and surviving the short-to-medium term is going to be more difficult than the long run if we correct course in that time. And since a trite belief in historical inevitability is one of the more serious offenses of our leadership caste, as only God knows the future, I try to keep an open mind for all scenarios.
A buddy who lives in NC told me of a local story where a black guy tried to rob a woman at an ATM and a passerby shot him dead. The local sheriff said it was real unfortunate and that was the end of it.
A lot of guys in the South walk around with untucked shirts. Blacks too.
You may have noticed that Antifa didn’t try much in the South and recently got their asses handed to them in Atlanta.
More a truth teller than you. Communism, Socialism, and Left Wing Anarchism(ie Anarcho-Socialism, Anarcho-Syndicalism, Anarcho-Communism etc.) was disproportionately championed by ethnic whites in America, including the Irish, Polish, and Italians. One of their number killed a President, a Polack immigrant Left wing Anarchist killed William McKinley
Ethnic whites overwhelmingly voted for FDR who did more than any other President to bring the USA closer to Communism, both domestically and in our foreign ties. The man who created more de facto Socialism through Government Job programs, Heavy government intervention in the economy, Calling Stalin Uncle Joe etc.
The point was that natural beauty hasn’t declined (or increased). Yes, this same photo today would have more fatties and more girls with blue hair and maybe tattoos. These (even the tattoos) are reversible and don’t affect natural beauty. On the other side of the equation, there have been improvements in cosmetics, hair care, undergarments, gym regimens, photo filters, etc. (none of which also affect natural beauty) and even cosmetic surgery such that those women who are concerned about their appearance actually look BETTER (at least in photographs) than the gals from the ’70s.
I would say that overall there has been a flattening of the bell curve in terms of visible appearance – more 7s and 8s and more 2s and 3s while in those days 4s to 6s were more common than the tails.
Was that before or after he started boinking the babysitter?
>My observation is that the bottom half of young white women are a disaster now. But even among the top 10%, educated and fit children of doctors, the rate of hideous piercings and tattoos is very high compared to 10 or 20 years ago.
It’s high compared to the same demographic in the 1980s, I’m sure, but it’s still paltry compared to what you see lower on the scale. Trust me as someone who has been on both ends, difference is night and day.
Having a good body has become a socioeconomic symbol in the US, for both men and women. As has having functional marriages. That’s perhaps not shocking given human history, but I still find it perverse. You need that crap more if you have less.
Calling a Jewish person a puppet master especially when he is a puppet master will get you in big trouble.
IIRC, going after Soros as an evil puppet master cost Glenn Beck his show on Fox News. Or maybe it was something else. Or maybe it was that and people will say it was something else.
Guilty as charged.
For NAFTA, in both the Senate and the House, more Republicans than Democrats voted for passage.
For the China trade bill, the lack of any “teeth” is why environmentalists, human rights and religious groups and many unions opposed it. Corporatists were the driving force behind it, aka the GOP.
You used to be somewhat reasonable. Not anymore.
In Chicago they tended to become Hispanic neighborhoods with few vacant lots, although a fair number of middle class Irish neighborhoods became part of the Black ghetto.
Ouch.
If you’re referring to the Tribe, you’re off your rocker. I know what’s happening in Manhattan, and the Jews don’t like it. Like any other non-Negro, they don’t feel secure. Many are leaving. I know people of all ages who live on the Upper West Side who are afraid to take a walk at night. Such is the menace of the urban Negro. “Supremacy”? I think not. The Negro reigns supreme in New York now.
All three plus Germans tended to be strongly anti-communist.
The Irish: After escaping from the UK and coming to America, we found ourselves in two World Wars on the side of the British, the second of which increased Communist power (directly.) Plus the Communist threat to the Catholic Church.
The Italians: After being shortchanged as an Ally in WW1, Italy was an enemy in WW2. Plus the Communist threat to the Catholic Church, which was and is headquartered in their home country.
The Poles: Yalta which consigned them to about 4o years of Communism. Plus the Communist threat to the Catholic Church.
The Germans: Found themselves in both World Wars as enemies of us and the British. As a direct result of WW2 and indirect result of WW1, lost a bunch of their country both to a Communized Poland and to the East German Communist puppet state. Plus, for German Catholics, who were and are numerous, the Communist threat to the Catholic Church.
Who do you think supported Joe McCarthy?
Henry Mancini didn’t understand why his Abruzzi father was the only Italian in West Aliquippa who refused to support FDR. But he was damned proud that his father was the only Italian in West Aliquippa to refuse to support Mussolini.
That’s pretty interesting since FDR – Mussolini… flip a coin! Heads you lose, tails you lose! Lol
My grandfather was also Abruzzi.
There are some construction cranes Downtown, but not as many as their used to be.
Step 1: catch a bus to the crossroads. Step 2: flag down Old Scratch. Step 3: sell your soul to Beelzebub. Step 4: collaborate with the Nazis to steal from Jews you know will be murdered. Step 5: Baphomet makes you wealthier than Croesus. Step 6: use your money to destroy America by substituting the false, the bad, and the ugly for the true, the good, and the beautiful. Step 7: bequeath your vicious nature to the vile spawn you begat. Step 8: die and discover that there are no Democrats to bribe on the other side of the veil of tears. Step 9: Michael brings you up for your trial. Step 10: St. Paul brings the charges and shows what you did. Step 11: God delivers you up to swim in the lake forever.
It is pretty much the Corvinus plan but without the money.
Get real joker. All four of these ethnic groups vote straight Leftist and always have. Central and southern Europeans and Irish are most famous for anarchist and socialist movements in the USA, early 20th century radicalism and assassination attempts on Republican presidents. Case closed.
LOL. Almost all the cops, EMT, firefighters etc in my big city are white males. Those are the ones who get the best pensions.
John Lindsay and Bill Weld were (Lindsay) / are (Weld) WASPS. Southern Anglo-Celts are Conservative.
The white working class is driving pickups, bearing arms and voting for Trump. Solidarnosc!
Thanks. Note that the figures appear to be for the average age of all conceptions, not for the average age of first conception.
It isn’t even “mild” for any demographic. 99.9% died “with covid” (thanks to fraudulent PCR tests) not “of covid”.
TWGH, thanks for that link. “Peachy Keenan” is a great writer! Also, she’s ‘hep’ to all the memes, haha. Good to see Claremont keeping current.
My personal rule is this:
If things look dark, hopeless, depressing, it’s not nearly so as it seems at first glance. If things look super optimistic, everything is going well, the sun is shining, and all is well and great, it’s not going as well as it seems on the surface.
Basically, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
Tattoos are not rugged. They are for criminals and criminal-wannabes. Three-piece suits went out the window once we had central heating (except for dinner suits, when you put on either a waistcoat or a cummerbund).
You said it, but I am not Jesus.
1) Slobs don’t get “unattired women-strewn on the bedroom floor.” 2) There are things to admire about beautiful, elegant women besides (or in addition to) her sexuality. Don’t confuse lust with admiration. Beauty is not about “I want to hump it!”
Yes. All our problems are artificial and voluntary. We don’t have a black crime problem, we have a “white ruling class wants to use black crime to punish the working and middle class” problem. We don’t have an immigration problem, we have a “white ruling class refuses to enforce existing law” problem. We don’t have a banking problem, we have a “crony capitalists making a million second chances for proven incompetants” problem.
It’s Reagan not Regan.
Cities have been economically obsolete since about 1960, when containerization of shipping cargo took cargo transshipment out of cities and into the countryside (Singapore being an exception), and also took unpacking cargo and re-manufacturing / re-packaging it into locally salable goods. (See: Levinson, _The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger _, 2016)
With the docks and the re-manufacturing went the longshoremen and the workers in re-manufacturing (including the Garment District in NYC).
SInce the docks closed down, cities have been left with corporate headquarters and some urban universities as their economic base, and have been seeking a non-economic base. They found it when Johnson (LBJ) federalized welfare, and the “vote farm” was made into big business (“There’s money in poverty”, from Roth, _Portnoy’s Complaint_.)
The vote farms were self defeating, as cheapest votes come from people who have no alternative means of support, and vote farms became very dangerous and unpleasant places to live, places that precluded raising sane children.
Urban corporate headquarters were, as Steve said, rendered uneconomic when “work from home” turned out to be cheaper, and in any case were becoming unsafe due to “vote farms”.
This leaves cities with government, but government can’t live on taxing government empl0yees or a secondary economy (retail shops, entertainment, etc.) once their primary economy is gone. They can live (for a time) by instituting a command economy, and the urban political party (Democrats) are now trying to institute a command economy and an “authoritarian” government to enforce the command economy.
So cities, in their present form in the West, don’t have an economic base, and do not now have a political base that supplies adequate funds for urban maintenance.
It is true that Trump bet on urban recovery. It was a safe bet. Complex systems vary with time, and when Trump bet the US was prosperous enough to sustain a rescue attempt for NYC. The US is not that prosperous now, and not apt to become so.
Various groups have tried to profit from urban decline. These groups are generally destructive and hostile towards non-urban Americans. However, they did not cause the decline. The decline was caused by an American suzerainty empire after WW II, an empire that thought it need not consider reality, to include economic reality. The 1950s idea was that “since the US government can do anything, what matters is not physical reality, but the decisions that the US government makes.” This has since been extended to the transsexual movement and the attempt to replace internal combustion engines and carbon burning with systems that are physically impossible.
And, underlying it all, is the Limits to Growth fidelity over 50 years of history. If Limits has retained its fidelity until 2023, that means we are probably at the peak of industrial output, and that marginal productivity is declining over time. This highly unpopular possibility makes any realistic policy politically infeasible, and has in practice delivered the world into unrealistic policies (such as China’s attempt to become the “Middle Kingdom” again, and the US descent into racial internal politics based on threats to accelerate the marginal decline in productivity).
So: Try to look beyond the “devil theory”, and consider what has empowered the “devil”. Usually, the devils turn out to be maggots on a social corpse, and trying to revive the corpse by killing the maggots produces disappointing results. You’re going to have to make a new society, and all of the current “new society” structures (which are all 1930s re-treads of the Enlightenment) have been shown to be unworkable. The new society will be developed by trial, error, and selection, an inherently wasteful process that is entirely necessary.
Yeah that’s pretty accurate and true, though there are definitely neighborhoods in Chicago that have many more vacant lots than they used to…
Chicago peaked in population in 1950 with 3.7 Million people. Since then it has lost a million people, more than a quarter of its population while the rest of the country has more than doubled in size. Chicago had more people in it 100+ years ago in 1920 than it does now, while the rest of the country more than tripled in size since then.
FDR was massively anti-white in many different ways. You are not very well informed. FDR also established all sorts of government agencies that became far far far worse than even its opponents expected at the time.
True, including the biggest loon of all Reg Caesar. You are no better than the anons, you are de fact completely an anon but put on airs about it.
Thanks for that, Charles. May I take it in its entirety to post on my blog?
Except that Ellis Islanders still voted heavily Democrat into the 80’s. Older people vote more, and prior to the 1990’s, Republicans still had the stigma of being the party of both stuffy WASPS and Great Depression causing de-regulation.
Younger generations of whites don’t realize just how much animus Ellis Islanders once had toward WASPs.
Late Boomer whites trended heavily towards the GOP (cuz late Boomers grew up associating the Left with black crime, welfare abuse, and affirmative action), and once late Boomers began voting heavily in the 90’s, that’s when the GOP became much more powerful. And later generations of whites in the hinterlands have continued this pattern.
Nowadays, with a badly aging white population, Democrats have gone all in on non-white ID politics. And the remaining whites in core urban areas are increasingly estranged from heartland/libertarian whites. Ethnic politics for SJW whites is hatred against the wrong kind of whites.
Status striving. Women put far more effort into “beauty” starting in the mid-late 80’s, due to anxiety about being seen as “ordinary”. When status driving was low/largely confined to a small layer of people in the 1930’s-1970’s, most people looked ordinary. In times of high status striving there is less shame in trying to stand out from the pack.
Tattoos and unusual piercing also are part of this trend. I read an article on body piercing culture by one it’s tech innovators, and he opened one of the first studios of it’s kind in the 70’s. But mainstream interest in nipple and genital piercings was non-existent before the late 80’s.
In the 60’s, a young woman having really short hair (a plot point in 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby) or a guy having shoulder length hair was considered envelope pushing. While conventional wisdom is that this was because of conservative cultural norms, it’s generally not acknowledged that economic conditions of broadly shared equality lead to people being comfortable with an ordinary physical appearance. In other words, the neo-lib surge in inequality is politically conservative but has made cultural conservatism impossible.
Sorry, maybe it’s a misuse of the “Troll” button but this moron is so wrong it’s really beyond compare. Up until the last 30 years or so, Irish, Italians & Poles were still church-going Catholics and were very anti-Communist, ya dope. Just because they were Dems didn’t mean they were socialists, they were for the working-man and unions but still were deeply patriotic Americans and had no time for godless Communism. Read a history book. Or any book.
I’ll know it’s the 70’s when the Vikings start losing Superbowls again. RIP Bud Grant.
I remember watching NBC news w/my dad when that Jonestown fiasco unfolded. First Congressman Ryan was shot dead and then a day later the massacre. I remember the helicopter shots of all the dead bodies on the ground. It seemed unreal to me at 12. It was only years later when I read a book about it that I realized the Jim Jones cult was not so much religious as political. They were thoroughly in line w/the commie terrorist gangs of the 60’s and 70’s. At least we got a good band name out of it.
C’mon man! You don’t really believe that there aren’t megalomaniacs who want to control the world and, have a credible means to do so.
(Almost?) everything you issue you blog about can be explained by someone using mass media and political machinations to further divisions within western countries.
Pitting blacks against whites. Women against men. Jews against gentiles. Emoters against rational thinkers. Etc. You can’t even watch the local TV news to get the weather report without being spammed with this crap.
It’s called divide-and-conquer. It’s asymmetric warfare. Except in cases where it boils over into a hot war (though we could argue that Slavs killing Slavs is part of the plan).
For NAFTA, in both the Senate and the House, more Republicans than Democrats voted for passage.
And Bill Clinton, a democrat, Sold it… to the American public! And signed NAFTA.
You’re not going to slide blaming only Republicans!
Yeah. Mind your own ****ing business!
Sounds like typical Ivy League prep school elites.
With how lenient some areas of our criminal justice system is becoming towards (more often than not) violent offenders, unless the trend is abated your new city will end up like the old one.
As for high taxes in SC, unless you’re outside of the more developed areas, I wouldn’t refer to urban NY as light on the wallet.
No comment on SC though, I have no idea what race-relations are like down there.
How TF did “work from home” become the backbone of our economy? You can’t build cars – even electric ones – “from home.” Neither can you drill for oil and gas – or even install solar panels. About the only clear cut productive “work from home” situation that readily comes to mind is the farmer who strolls from the house to the barn to board his tractor.
Well no, it shouldn’t be contested that most of the idealogically inclined elites in the US government, academia, media, and finance supported the protests and the general idealogy behind it that by extension has led to both a nationwide increase in violent crimes such as vehicular manslaughter and general less felonious crimes like petty larceny.
The general spike can be attributed to our increasingly lackadaisical criminal justice system, more interested in activism than punitive countermeasure against criminal misbehaviour. How does institutional support of lenient opposition against criminals increase the rate of crime again?
You tell me.
While this doesn’t have to change your thesis, you really sure port cities also didn’t do a lot of real manufacturing?
I sure recall that to be the case, was true to a degree in the Boston area as of the 1980s like a TRW fastener factory at the edge of the MIT campus. Or see Kimber (gun) Manufacturing relocating from Montana and Oregon to Yonkers, NY in Westchester County, a city directly to the north of the Bronx. Also has or had manufacturing in New Jersey, but of course is setting up in the South as of late. Or see Chicago back when it was the City of Big Shoulders. Or the port cities where used to build ships, and connected to your thesis, at least some of these cities would also repair ships.
But be it politics in part for a company like Kimber, or such cities becoming very expensive to do business in, or any/all of the other factors that have moved manufacturing either out of the US or out of Blue cities and states, they stopped contributing to the tax base of such cities. Thus aligning with your general thesis
Your specific thesis that they’ve become vote farms is one I completely accept and have been thinking about for a long time, which we can extend to certain populations as well, and thus their very uncertain fates should we eliminate even the pretense of voting.
Underrated. Or, Jack D, without the looks.
The whole point of a company is collaborative work and effort towards the business mission. There can be some specialist positions not requiring collaborative work, and therefore can WTH, but not many. Outside sales and service jobs have never needed to be tied to the office–except for their support staff.
IT has always been somewhat freelance and outsourced, so some of those jobs will prevail. But so will those specialties reorganize as business matures and innovation creates new opportunities. Yet, one industry does not drive the work habits of the entire economy.
I’ve a friend who worked as a middle manager at a health insurance company spending the entire Covid period WFH which was comprised of zoom meetings all day long. From my perspective, it’s far, far worse than being in an office, where much spontaneous problem solving can occur. Instead, the workday became completely structured around when others were available for large group zoom meetings in order to coordinate and communicate amongst management and staff. Absolutely dreary.
It sure is, if Chicago is any indication.

Not since 1929.
Before 1870, she also had title to her own plot of land:
(San Marino harbored advocates of unification, and in return was spared being included. That country had an elected Communist government for a while, but, as with socialists in Scandinavia and Milwaukee, their hearts were never really into it. It was more a pothole thing.)
It’s important to remember that the communists and socialists in Catholic countries are ex-Catholics, who hate the Church as much as any Protestant ever did.
As for your rejoinder, never bother with commenters going by “Anon” or “anon”. They combine laziness with a chip on the shoulder. Occasionally a smart comment comes through under “anonymous”. I suspect those are just momentary visitors, curious enough to follow a link.
Montreal? What about Toronto?
Southerners voted even more overwhelmingly so. What does that tell you? (Don’t say it was partisan. The outer South had no problem voting for Hoover– in 1928.)
I’ve used up my three comments, so I’ll just tack on this masthead here:
The Wanderer started out as Der Wanderer.
Irish, italians and Poles were even more Democrat 30 years ago than they are today. They were never church going + blacks are the most church going group in America besides. Church going =/= pro American/anticommunist/conservative. Go burn a filthy book and look up some stats on the perfectly clean computer you’re using, ya nimrod.
Celts are democrats/hillary voters.
Interesting analysis, but men’s long hair started with the Beatles and long before Reaganesque inequality. Also if you look at that photo of the sorority girls, there was more uniformity in hairstyle than in the conformist ’50s where there was a least some variety in styles and lengths. Almost every single one of these girls has long, straight hair, mostly parted in the middle. For that matter, by the ’70s hair styles for men were mostly uniform again – everyone wore it long.
Generally speaking, every hipster’s attempt at “individuality” ends up being the same as every other hipster’s. Instead of copying from the older generation (what could ever be less cool than your parents?) they copy from each other. They are all “different” in the same way, uniform in their individuality.
Or he might make acquaintance with people outside whatever his own immediate circle is. On second thought, maybe it’s better that he doesn’t.
I’d call garment making manufacturing, not re-manufacturing. All industries have component parts and/or raw materials. This includes autos, oil and steel.
NYC was never that much of a manufacturing town. It had the garment industry, big oil refineries for nearby markets, Benjamin Moore Paints, and not much else in the way of manufacturing. The economy was largely based on the port and financial services, and one of those two is almost gone, as is the garment industry.
Oh, no fear. Mark Zuckerberg and Paul Singer come to mind — and I don’t even pay much attention.
I’m sure they’re all hard at work. Don’t you fret.
It made (and I’d guess it still makes) more difference than you might think.
Back in my puppy years, my idea of normal attire was blue jeans and a rock band tee-shirt.
But I was also a high school teacher, and there, wearing a shirt and a tie paid off big time. You could send kids to the deans office — or you could wear a dress shirt, slacks and a tie. Your choice.
So of course I went with the tie. Sometimes, I’d still be wearing the tie when I ran errands after work.
The difference in how I was treated was amazing. Convenience store staff were like, ‘Can I help you, sir?’ Suddenly, I was the white master.
I think the key is how widely divergent people are in their look, be it hair style, body type, etc. True, into the 70’s, people tended to look similar. Women had long straight hair, guys had collar to shoulder length hair, typically in a wavy or curly style and with the front shorter than the back, with feathering common*. Beginning in the 80’s, though, you get a much wider range of fashions and body types**, which would only become more exaggerated in the ensuing decades.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that over time, fashions seem to last longer than they used to. I would put this down to a lack of cultural conformity. In the New Deal era (1930-1980), everyone bought into the latest fashion trend. Since the dawn of the neo-lib era, people tend to base their identity on a particular niche or style, and then stick to it for ages. About the only thing that’s really changed across the neo-lib era is the fit of pants;
– high waisted for both genders but loose-ish for woman and tighter for men in the 80’s
– loose and high wasted for both genders in the early-mid 90’s
– ridiculously low waisted and baggy for men in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, low waisted and tight for women in the late 90’s/2000’s
– low waisted and tight for men since the late 2000’s
– gradually higher waisted and tight for women since the early 2010’s.
Note that 30 years into the neo-lib era, even the fit of pants has calcified since circa 2010. Men’s pants are cut pretty much the same in 2023 as they were in 2010, while woman’s pants have had more high waisted options for a while but are still essentially the same as they were in 2010.
*Only a minority of male hippies and bikers (and rock stars) had long and unstyled hair in the 60’s and 70’s. It wasn’t until the 90’s that a good chunk of normie guys had hair like that. Rock stars and hippies were early adopter strivers, BTW. Their 1950’s counter parts looked a lot more square. 1970’s rock groups were incredibly indulgent and narcissistic; interestingly, they got away with it because normies back then were not morally judgemental. Beginning in the 80’s, Middle America started to claim that athletes and entertainers needed to be “role models”, presumably because Americans no longer felt that parents, neighbors, teachers, clergy, etc could be trusted to guide their kids in the neo-lib era.
**Look at period photos of crowds; in the decades of the New Deal era, there’s a sameness in appearance and people tend to look very 1950’s, or very 1970’s, etc. On the other hand, with the slowing of fashion and growing inequality across the neo-lib era, it would seem that in the neo-lib era, upper class people would look relatively dignified (abstaining from fashion excess since the neo-lib era frowns upon fitting into mass trends) while the growing masses of have-nots would neither resemble the elites nor would they resemble each other very much. And there’s no such thing as a “typical” 90’s look, or a typical 2010’s look.
Right. The vote farms are don’t have bright future.
The MIT _Limits to Growth_ did not consider political factors, perhaps because the data that Turchin used for his work. Accordingly, their results assume peace, not war. The Russia/Ukraine dispute, with LTG did not consider, has already restricted world productiion (see fertilizer costs on Amazon.com), and may result in a sharp reduction in international trade. Trade reduction might just reduce us all to poverty, such poverty that it might prove impossible to support both the basic productive labor pool and the vote farms (and the old people). Remember, the US now has about 0.5 million people living as “homeless” in urban tent cities.
Industrial country demographics poses similar problem of inadequate resources: too many old people (who cannot work), not enough productive young people.
What exactly is the equitable solution to such conflicts? The existing solution is to pretend there is no problem and pay for the unproductive through financial fraud, unmaintained capital equipment (e.g. railroads), ceasing to educate labor/management, lies such as calling life in a tent city “empowering”, distracting public opinion with “transsexuals”, etc.
Is it more equitable to continue this existing solution until capital equipment fails and can’t be repaired and financial systems become impossible to maintain and the surviving public finally realizes that it has been robbed. Or, is it more equitable to cut losses now with immediate casualties/deaths?
In a military context, were these problems are common, the answer is well established: cut now even if doing so costs some lives. Rousseau, not military, is quoted as saying “A rational army would run away” consequently losing the war and (over much of history) causing massive civil casualties, which amounts to using the existing answer mentioned above.
I’m not happy about the situation, but other than pointing out underlying dynamics I can’t do much about it.
He said Garment District not garment manufacturing you utter dog.
“The white working class is driving pickups, bearing arms and voting for Trump. Solidarnosc”
Ford’s main parts suppliers, along with the parts they supply, are as follows:
Flex-N-Gate Seeburn – Ontario, Canada: door hinges and arms.
NHK Spring – Shiga-ken, Japan: suspension stabilizer linkages.
U-Shin Europe – Komárom-Esztergom, Hungary: steering columns.
Valeo Electric and Electronic Systems – Czechowice-Dziedzice, Poland: starter assemblies.
Webasto Roof & Components – Schierling, Germany: sliding sunroofs.
Summit Plastics – Nanjing, China: instrument panel components
At least they support American gun manufacturers. But do they—and you—have the guts to take out the enemy that’s all over you as you speak?
Regarding Trump, he’s a grifter that schnookered the white working class. They are a useful idiot to him.
But do they—and you—have the guts to take out the enemy that’s all over you as you speak?
In an existential fight, we absolutely do.
I don’t think you realize how deeply entrenched and sophisticated weapons carry and autonomic training techniques have become in the US. Ironically, the very fact that even prole whites can earn enough discretionary income to drive F150s and build small armories is what keeps things in hand.
Maybe some of this is from mass immigration kicking into high gear with the neo-lib era; clothes as ersatz uniform for navigating the social apartheid of the Diversity era.
Also, the flood of cheap clothing from overseas: vast warehouses of cookie-cutter blue jeans and such locked us into the same look.
Ty Cobb’s mother was about 12 when she married Cobb Sr in 1882.
That didn’t end well.
Your ignorance is only outpaced by your opinion of yourself. Liam Mellows was a leading socialist and Connolly acolyte, one of the four you reference. And my point about the executions was to state that there were more by the Irish Free State than by the English and an inordinate number were carried out against socialists – Peader O’Donnell and my own grandfather themselves coming thisclose to the same fate, not to compare to other revolutions/civil war per capita deaths.
As for American voting habits, you make my point. The old IRA guys who came to America all voted for FDR.
Read LIAM MELLOWS by Greaves, THE CAUSE OF IRELAND by Curtis, REVOLUTION IN IRELAND by Kostick, THE RISE OF THE IRISH WORKING CLASS by Keogh, THE HISTORY OF THE IRISH WORKING CLASS by Ellis, MUNSTER REPUBLIC by Harrington, CURIOUS JOURNEY by Griffith and O’Grady, and get back to me.
Thanks for playing!
I read the article. Verrry interesting. All I could think of was my wife’s hometown of Portland, Maine, a small city that was once essentially bourgeois/ blue collar but is rapidly morphing into SanFran East. And once-rural Western Massachusetts? Fuggedaboudit!
Some of them. By no means all.
“Generally speaking, every hipster’s attempt at “individuality” ends up being the same as every other hipster’s.”
That’s always been the paradox about being an individualist, particularly in this country. I came of age in the mid-60s when the so-called “counterculture” emerged. Long hair, “bells” (bell-bottoms), beads, tie died shirts and all the accoutrements associated with that era rapidly became de rigeur among us Boomers. Eventually (and inevitably–after all we are talking about America) the whole shtick percolated up into the middle and upper classes. When, by the early 70s, ad execs were wearing bells in the office while down South, long-hairs started appearing here and there, you just KNEW that the counterculture was hiss tow ree.
OK, let’s rephrase things. Let’s say that cities had a monopoly on access to shipped bulk goods (for an example: cloth, paper) that value added (rather than manufacturing) could make into locally useful items, such as newspapers, books, clothing that the local population could sell.
The access came from the comparatively small lots that were shipped back when longshoremen had to brace cargo manually so that it would not shift during heavy weather at sea. The ship itself was, of course, idled while the longshoremen were at work either installing or removing the bracing, and the longshoremen had to be paid for what amounted a different job every time, thanks to differences in ships and in the bracing decided upon by the longshoremen who had installed the bracing.
That monopoly is gone. Sales now are by the cargo container, the “TEU”, https://www.ups.com/us/en/supplychain/insights/knowledge/glossary-term/teu-container.page , which is a large volume. Cargo containers need container yards, which (in the West) are outside established cities. Container commerce has largely moved to the countryside, with actual plants at the end of rail or truck routes, and run by a large corporation with the capital and management needed to run such a system of distributed manufacturing. The system reduces land and labor costs to levels that urban manufacturers cannot match.
You could also say that finance was an urban monopoly, in that communication and security costs restricted business deals to face-to-face meetings, and that those who lived by capital had to also live in the same area — an urban area. That, too, is gone, thanks to contemporary electronic communications and the invention of the private jet.
The now vanished monopoly of the “manufacturing cities” had held for several thousand years (although “political cities”, usually political capitals had also existed over thousands of years). The change is fundamental.
The US has, in the above terms, changed large US cities from “manufacturing cities” to “political cities”. The change dates back to the end of WW II, when the US (in hindsight) changed from a trading/manufacturing/agricultural country to an imperial power, and its government became more dependent on income from its empire than on its population.
If you are interested in how this caused an end to Gilded Age levels of innovation and development, there is a very nice discussion of how empires always cause such an end in Scheidel, Escape from Rome: The Failure of Empire and the Road to Prosperity. Princeton (The Princeton Economic History of the Western World Book 115), 2019. His Chapter 12, “Understanding”, reviews how and why past empires have never made the transition into an industrial age. Its “how and why” is also a good account of how the US lost its industry since the US transitioned into an empire after WW II, and why computer related areas that were useful for political ends such as population control and military applications, but threatening no powerful political coalition, were permitted to thrive until recently and are now being shut down.
For that matter, Sheidel Ch 12 can account for China’s recent shutdown of industrial innovation.
Should the US become a non-imperial country, as it might if it loses the Ukraine conflict and Germany / Europe is forced by need for raw materials to become a Russian ally, then the political cities may well fail or even become deserted, as has happened often in history. Persepolis is one example: both then https://persepolis.getty.edu/ and now https://www.worldhistory.org/persepolis/
On a marginally unrelated topic, bitcoin price is actually up. Ordinarily, the price drops during financial crises as speculators unload a speculation (bitcoin) in order to meet margin calls or the like. Putin has made the bitcoin into a petro-bitcoin in that Russia is willing to sell oil for bitcoin. It is almost as though people were willing to do almost anything to avoid US Dollar or other fiat currency assets. You’d almost think that the BRICs don’t trust each other to refrain from competitive devaluation.
A partial list of billionaires active in politics (mostly progressive): Michael Bloomberg, Mark Zuckerberg, Tom Steyer, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Peter and Jonathan Lewis, Paul Singer, George and Jonathan Soros, David Geffen, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Pat Stryker, Jared Polis, Tim Gill, Rutt Bridges, Charles Koch, Haim Saban, Herb and Marion Sandler, Steve Bing, John Sperling, Tom Steyer, Howard Shultz, Laurene Powell Jobs, Jonathan Gray, Reid Hoffman, Marc Benioff, S. Donald Sussman, James and Marilyn Simons.
We’ve already imported more than enough to permanently tip the scales. But yes, you’ve touched upon another secret trick of third-world immigration: even life on the lower rungs here is infinitely superior to the hellholes they left behind, not even including the “free stuff” safety nets we throw to every one of them.
Not one of them will ever know or care about how decent and civilized this country was several decades ago. Along with erasing white people, we’re erasing their history too. And what can’t be erased, we’re simply rewriting, (Hollywood) style.
Me too, Duncsbaby, except for me it was 40 years after the fact, and from searching the internet for info in order to write a series of blog posts about this massacre/suicide:

That’s not just a good band name, but that sound was terrific! Thank you.
PS: I ran out of [Agree]s for your comment wrt the Poles,Irish, etc. being anti-Communist. This Anon doesn’t know WTF he’s talking about. No mention of Pope John Paul II, one of the leaders in a small group that were instrumental in ending the Cold War.
“In an existential fight, we absolutely do.”
Lol, that fight is NOW. It allegedly has been that way for the past 40 years, and has accelerated since 2016. Talk is cheap. Pull a Kyle.
“I don’t think you realize how deeply entrenched and sophisticated weapons carry and autonomic training techniques have become in the US. “
We normies do realize it. It’s on prominent display.
Great! Weapon caches abound. It takes a steely eye and a steady aim under pressure to shoot to kill. You really think they (and you) have that skill set? Are YOU ready to lead the charge, “counselor”?
“Ironically, the very fact that even prole whites can earn enough discretionary income to drive F150s and build small armories is what keeps things in hand.”
So, this family (and you) can act all tough online and in the comforts of their idyllic community. But do they have what it takes to engage in paramilitary operations? Do they (or even you) have the guile and guts to pull the trigger against Jews and their mystery meat pets? This isn’t the script of Red Dawn.
The enemy is everywhere, correct? They are closing in, right? But it’s always convenient to say “it’s not the right time” or “just wait, we’ll spring into action when the moment comes”. I’ve heard it for over 50 years.
Do you think this family and others will actually salt the earth as God commands? Because in order to once and for all defeat their “enemies”—whoever they are—that will require extermination on their part, especially the progeny of elitists and their associates. That’s how you free yourself from the death grip from “wokeism”, or so I’ve been informed by the unz commetariat.
So, in the words of Malone from “The Untouchables”, what are you prepared to do?
That’s enough provocation from you, fed.
“Well no, it shouldn’t be contested that most of the idealogically inclined elites in the US government, academia, media, and finance supported the protests”
OK. And if we use your logic, the Alt Right and conversations also have their “ideologically inclined elites who opposed the protests.
“that by extension has led to both a nationwide increase in violent crimes such as vehicular manslaughter and general less felonious crimes like petty larceny.”
Correlation does not equal causation, per Mr. Sailer.
“The general spike can be attributed to our increasingly lackadaisical criminal justice system, more interested in activism than punitive countermeasure against criminal misbehaviour. How does institutional support of lenient opposition against criminals increase the rate of crime again?”
I concur in part. Some jurisdictions are lenient, while others tow the line. We should throw the book at criminal behavior, whether it be violent BLM protestors or violent January 6 protestors.
“That’s enough provocation from you, fed.”
Isn’t that cute. YOU were the one who insisted that you support the use of brutal force “in an existential fight”. And I’m not a member of Congress who is advocating “buy more ammo”, which is code for “I’m ready to fight”. Great thought. But it’s now putting it into action. And you and him simply don’t have the constitution to do it. So stop pretending.
Not enough noticing:

Michael Bloomberg is the most important person in US gun control today, Jews having replaced Methodists in its leadership.
Zuckerberg personally funded the election operations of many counties, so called ZuckBucks were a part of the 2020 election cheating.
“Tim Gill, along with Pat Stryker, Jared Polis and Rutt Bridges—called by the press the “Gang of Four”—together donated significant funds in support of Democratic organizations in Colorado, which many believe helped to flip control of the state legislature to Democratic control in 2004.”
“As of 2019, [Tim Gill] was the single largest individual donor to the LGBTQ rights movement in U.S. history, having personally committed more than $500 million since the early 1990s.”
Marc Benioff is Mr. Salesforce, the huge customer relationship management (CRM) cloud service which has been canceling gun companies and maybe others.
Haim Saban has gained infamy in butchering everything from Japanese anime and live action media to The Onion in 2008 which had been posting articles like “Retreating Clinton Campaign Torches Iowa Town To Slow Advance Of Sanders Volunteers” and “Clinton Ominously Tells Iowan Supporters To Mark Front Doors With Campaign Logo Before Sundown.”
“In the [$10 October million 2017] ad, Tom Steyer identifies himself only as an ‘American citizen’ and alleges that Trump ‘brought us to the brink of nuclear war, obstructed justice at the FBI, and in direct violation of the Constitution has taken money from foreign governments and threatened to shut down news organizations that report the truth.” Trump responded by calling Steyer ‘wacky and totally unhinged.’”
You actually missed one. Herb Sandler is dead; Marion Sandler is Jewish. So make that nineteen out of twenty eight.
Thank you, I appreciate the gory details. You have more energy than I do.
“And Bill Clinton, a democrat, Sold it… to the American public! And signed NAFTA.”
Indeed, he signed it.
“You’re not going to slide blaming only Republicans!”
That’s a strawman on your part.
There’s Miriam Adelson and family as well (to put it mildly).
Make that twenty out of twenty nine.
Hmm. Somebody needs to notify the FBI about ‘Corvinus.’
Ron would have his actual email. I bet we can nab him before it’s too late.
I almost agree.
Old age without dignity is revolting and really, should be grounds for being tossed into the woodchipper.

NYC is also noticeable for being the only major American city (I might be wrong on this uniqueness, I’m not American) that consistently followed very ‘tough-on-crime’ public policy, at least until recently.
I would hazard the international embarassment of having the de-facto cultural, elite and business capital of the USA succumbing to a fate like Baltimore’s would simply be too overwhelming, so an exception was made.
I suppose Los Angeles never had to pursue Giuliani’s policies as its black population was always proportionately very small, though you wouldn’t guess that from the outsized representation of typical luminaries like NWA.
We definitely need to let Homeland Security know about you. In fact, I’d say Ron has a duty here.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographic_history_of_New_York_City
If you follow the link and study the table you’ll find that the New York City black population has only decreased by 3 percentage points between 1980 and 2020. And since the affirmative action class is now firmly ensconced in New York City, blacks have become much more dangerous. Think of it as a football team: Eric Adams is the owner; Alvin Bragg is the coach; and the feral criminals are the “team.”
I think you forgot to mention Sauron. His minions are apparently preparing to arrest President Donald Trump.
Of course, that’s just crazy-talk. We’re a rational and legalistic people.
Rhetorical Aside: If only the most smartest people in the world (Silicon Valley and Manhattan) could have predicted and avoided the SVB bankruptcy (my super-zip experienced its first bank run in my lifetime last week).
What has happened to unimpeachable computer modeling? Couldn’t this bank failure have been predicted?
Is unimpeachability a problem in and of itself?
Fortunately, for the super smarts, a bailout is forthcoming.
Crime declined in all major cities at some point between 1992-2000. And then stayed lower than it’s circa 1970-1990 Boomer caused stratospheric heights. NYC was somewhat ahead of the curve due to “broken windows” ideology , though.
What a lot of people don’t seem to realize is that the baby boom peaked in the late 1950’s, and the mid-late 90’s decline in crime coincides with the largest Boomer cohorts entering their 40’s and aging out crime. Note also that Gen X and especially Millennials are much less trusting and outgoing generations than Boomers, so those generations have never “cut loose” like the Boomers did, and that also keeps crime lower (Boomers to be fair are harder working and more creatively successful than later generations, for better or worse they just did more than later generations).
Matches my observations.
While the average may be declining, the standard deviation is growing wider. The top 20-30% probably have gotten better looking, but the bottom 50-60% look noticeably worse (mostly due to fatness).
There are far fewer girls in the middle.
I’d guess that the top 20-30% of American females are comparable to the upper end of the European population, but our average is lower due to rampant obesity. Just a guess though.
I grew up in an ethnically Italian, Irish, German, polish first – second generation immigrant Neighborhood / city. They didn’t just leave Europe for the “American dream,” they left to escape, fascism, communism, socialism…
Closest they got to accepting any of those ideologies is support of unions. Which unto itself, is not an acceptance or support of those political ideologies in total.
My grandfather left Italy when Mussolini still had the trains running on time.
Orban’s Hungary is the most center – right country in Europe.
Ireland has become a woke, leftist, immigrant invaded shell of its former self. You’re clueless.
Those buses are back but there are not as many as there were pre-COVID. Employers in SF are currently pushing for 3 days in office and 2 days remote, with some even thinking about pushing for 4 days in office. On any given day it’s hard to know whether downtown will be busy or dead.
Big ol’ LOL. The collapse of BitCoin will be all the sweeter knowing it’ll harm Russia a lot.
Thanks. I will check it out!
Same observation.
In many ways, America is increasingly becoming a society of haves and have nots.
Even when you look at physical appearance, you see that. In the lower (and increasingly middle) segments of the population, obesity and poor grooming are rampant. However, in the upper echelon, lots of women are increasingly sophisticated about healthy eating, lifting/exercise, supplements, makeup, hair products, skin care, and plastic surgery. Even middle-aged affluent women are figuring out ways to “turn back the clock.”
I feel like the top 10-20% of American women can compete pretty well against what you find in the rest of the world (including Europe). Unfortunately, the bottom half are increasingly abysmal. Our growing ethnic diversity is further worsening the situation.
The middle is collapsing.
Back in the 1970s, there was a far higher percentage of average-looking women with normal weight.
Many of the above observations apply to American men too.
Honestly, as far as I can tell, Asians seem to be the only people who are at least somewhat immune from the above trends. Even if you look at the rest of the world (Latin America, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Eastern Europe, Mediterranean nations, UK, etc), they are becoming increasingly obese & ugly. I blame the global reach/influence of American entertainment, food, clothing, and social media.
I always stayed in shape until injuries set in. Back spasms, hamstring pulls and calf lock have become problems in the last 5 years. I don’t carry extra weight because I’ve always stayed in shape, but I know the difference, and not being able to exercise hard is starting to really bother me. Any suggestions? PT just seems to move the problems around, if it helps at all, and nobody is operating on my back.
If such a collapse would hurt Russia a lot, then just before the collapse Bitcoin would have been important to Russia, and presumably its trading partners. That being the case, why would Bitcoin collapse?
There have been several kinds of serious attacks on Bitcoin. Which kind of attack do you think is most likely to destroy Bitcoin?

I would not at all disagree. However, a large percentage of these women are “college grads,” and staunch worshipers of the woke religion. They may look good, but suffer from career girl syndrome, and the sex in the city mindset that leads them to often being not good marriage material.
Not an attack. The failure of bitcoin is built into the code. Fewer bitcoin are issued per unit of time as time goes on, no? When so few new bitcoin are issued that mining becomes unprofitable, do you expect people to maintain the ledger out of friendliness?
Upper-class women are becoming increasingly demanding & status-seeking. They’re not happy unless a guy is “6-6-6” (6 figure salary, 6 feet tall, 6 pack abs).
I agree that their personalities are not humble or agreeable. They’re entitled and calculating. They may look good, but they’re far less pleasant than girls you’d meet back in the 80s & 90s.
The real insult, however, is when you see fat working-class women claim that they’re “hot” and deserve to date a guy who looks like Channing Tatum.
This is what you need to satisfy women in the current year.
It was partisan you uneducated ignoramus. They obviously voted for Hoover in 1928 because Al Smith was Catholic. Nice try you slithery snake.
You’re incorrect.
Southern cities are violence-ridden. It’s depressingly common to hear cases of Blacks randomly attacking & killing Whites.
Atlanta has a homicide rate (per 100,000) of 37.
Here homicide rates (per 100,000) for some liberal cities full of “weak” liberals.
Portland: 15
Seattle: 7
Los Angeles: 10
San Francisco: 7
Down in the South, you put up with plenty of “shenanigans” from Blacks.
Let’s not get started about the football “hostess” programs that provide White girlfriends to Black college football players. These programs are almost entirely a Southern thing…. That’s a barrel full of “shenanigans.” See below.
https://www.unz.com/isteve/do-you-like-white-women-because-we-have-a-lot-of-them-at-baylor-and-they-love-football-players/
https://www.unz.com/isteve/what-you-get-for-your-62320-check-for-your-daughter-to-attend-vanderbilt/
It’s serious cope to think that, compared to Northerners, you’re better at defending yourself against Blacks.
Honestly, I’ve found that a lot of Southerners are delusional about this topic. When the average Southern man looks in the mirror, he sees John Wayne. In reality, if White Southern men took off the rose-colored glasses, they would realize that they’re morbidly obese, effete, and scared. A race of sports cucks.
Cope. The South is cucked.
Looks like mentions of “unisex” have been trending down in the last decade:
https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=unisex&year_start=1800&year_end=2019&corpus=en-2019&smoothing=3
Sounds like a “buying opportunity.” “Unisex” could the hottest new deviancy this time next year.
Of course, unisex is kind of antithetical to divide-and-conquer. That could be a fly-in-the-ointment.
It’s funny how the word “unisex” has been showing up in books consistently over recent decades at around 70% as often as its high point around 1979, but the word strikes me as wholly redolent of the 1970s rather than of more recent times.
“Unisex” had a lot to do with Late Sixties wars over hair. In the 1960s, males got their hair cut only by male barbers. (Women mostly had their hair cut by women unless they could afford flamboyant gay hairdressers.) See the Coens’ “The Man Who Wasn’t There” for the culture of men’s barbershops. But in the 1970s it became cool for guys to get their hair cut by women. Hair salons put out signs declaring themselves “unisex” to advertise that the opposite sex was okay to come in. After awhile, people stopped worrying about it so I don’t recall thinking about the term “unisex” in recent decades.
Recommendations.
1. Sleep 8-9 hours per night. It should be constant, relaxed sleep. When you sleep, your body releases growth hormone and heals itself. To improve your sleep, take Melatonin, L-Theanine, and Magnesium Citrate before bed. Use a blue light filter on your devices, and don’t eat 3 hours before bed. Sleep in a cold room, by yourself if possible. Use a White noise machine to drown out other sounds.
2. Eat a high protein diet. Lots of eggs, fish (especially salmon), poultry, and meat. Dairy, if you can handle it. Healthy complex carbs, berries, and veggies (especially Spinach for its iron content). Take Whey protein supplements too. That will help repair your body.
3. Minimize sugary food and junk food. Eat your meals at home that you make by hand. Switch from vegetable oil to either Olive or Avocado oil. This will fight inflammation.
4. Get a lot of sunlight. That will help a lot.
5. Supplement with Vitamin D (at least 5000IU), Vitamin K2 (MK4 & MK7), and Fish Oil (get 2.5 grams of EPA + DHA per day), Glucosamine, Marine Collagen, and MSM.
6. If you have glucose/sugar issues, take Berberine. If you have Cholesterol issues, take Garlic.
7. Drink Kefir for Probiotic benefits.
8. Light physical activity. Even something as simple as a daily walk, in the sun and after a meal.
9. Cold showers.
10. Sauna.
Probably, but you should get blood tests of sufficient levels in your blood, and make sure there’s not too much calcium in your blood (a metabolic panel that includes testing that). 5,000 IU might be too much or too little.
5000 IU Vitamin D is pretty conservative. For sure, you should check the amount of Calcium in your body because that’s a valuable number to know.
Though taking Vitamin K2 will do a lot to redirect Calcium from your arteries into your bones.
You end up with strong bones and a decalcified heart.
K2 is the magic supplement that nobody talks about, but which will save you from heart attacks, strokes, and anything that involves Calcification issues.
