This likely will be exactly how corporate America responds to the new higher race quotas being imposed as part of the Racial Reckoning. Since they haven’t been able to find enough smart and studious African-Americans to fill the last 52 years worth of affirmative action quotas, they sure won’t be able to now. So, corporations will demand to be allowed to import huge numbers of Nigerian Igbos to fill their race quotas.

All in the name of fighting the Legacy of Slavery and Jim Crow, of course.

Did the uni prez comment on it yet? There were between 4,000-5,000 undergrad who didn’t click on the email to vote on the proposal either way. It is a bit different from 1969 when the student gov’t was flogging an actual popular cause (no core, pass/expunged grading option, etc. etc.—which today all expensive uni’s allow to at least some % of students, officially or not).

If the administration had any wit they’d require everybody — undergrad, faculty, staff, trustees — to publicly vote, card-check-style, on giving money to ADOS lawyers somewhere. Real teachable moment. Cafeteria/janitorial and campus security should be exempt from requirement even though they are employed by the university, but clearly are entitled to independently yea/nay it in an advisory capacity.

African-Americans, by that line of thinking, are the captives rejected by the Igbo, the King of Dahomey and all the rest of them as too useless/disgusting to even keep around as their own (numerous) slaves or relentless human sacrifice fodder (those boys could have shown the Aztecs a trick or two in that regard. Probably would have appalled the otherwise fairly civilized native Mexicans).

So they boosted the garbage deadweights on downriver to gullible "Europeans" for various metals, guns, broadcloth bolts, beads, hats, steel weapons, the usual desirable Euro stuff that "natives" all over the world used to hanker for.

Once in the New World these rejects were fairly unselectively inbred, due to the cheapness and relative safety of that method, as opposed to sailing the hapless creatures across.

  7. It seems odd to say this, me being a liberal and all that, but some of the more interesting ideas about affirmative action come from Steve.

One of the many, many reasons why people disagree on reparations is this —
Many white Americans incorrectly think that affirmative action programs ARE reparations.

Let’s look at what is really happening.

By some estimates, the largest number of people to benefit from affirmative action are white females. I sometimes disagree with people who think Elizabeth Warren got her teaching job as an Indian affirmative action case. I think it more likely they were looking to hire as many bright women as possible. In fact, there was one situation where I was one of two candidates for a teaching position that was only open to men because the only woman they could find who was qualified turned down the position. I tried telling them I was a Native American (I am a tribal member), but they hired a white guy instead.

Other large groups of affirmative action recipients are immigrants. One time I got a minority scholarship. I met the others in the region who had gotten the same scholarship. It was me, a black guy, and a bunch of US citizen children of upper middle class Latin American immigrants.

The University of Wisconsin has a scholarship program for minority students. Some are black or Native, but many are middle class or wealthier Asians. Some adopted, others the children of Asian immigrants.

Quite a few colleges use Caribbean or African immigrants for their affirmative action programs.

How did dot-Indians take over so much of the motel business? SBA Minority Loans, for which white Americans do not qualify.

    And so on.

Also, affirmative action isn’t as powerful as people think it is. It can get an occasional scholarship, or admission to a better college, or an occasional first job, but 10 years down the pike it doesn’t help much at all.

Thing is, if affirmative action were what most white Americans think it was, it WOULD be a good form of reparations. But it isn’t.

I've always known this about racial preferences. Over time, the preference based on skin color doesn't achieve proportionate results in achievement -- leadership, pay, visibility at the top levels of an institution, etc. It's like a drug -- you give acceptance to school, scholarships, jobs, promotions -- and there's a need for more an more of it when you're not satisfied with the results.

This is because of a root cause issue -- the root cause of black advancement levels (or lack thereof) is not discrimination, or the failure to "prime the pump" with representative examples. The root cause is based on performance and merit. And giving a preference doesn't solve it, it exacerbates it.

I think the undersupply of candidates for affirmative action will lead to the importation of blacks from other country (on a net basis). The world is a big place -- if the U.S. is allowed to cherry-pick from an entire continent, there might be enough candidates to make corporate America and the universities happy enough to pat themselves on the back and move on.
  8. Reparations increasingly looks like supporting in high cost areas a small curated selection of fairly well behaved non-elite ADoS Heritage Blacks. Roc not Dr. Huxtable.

In Oakland, for example, the reparations require you have survived multiple waves of gentrification that cut the black population by more than half. You also need to get the form filled out correctly, beyond the ability of sub-80 IQ residents. And priority goes to “Black families” so no flophouse dwellers, van dwellers, underpass tent residents, etc. And while the cash is free, it isn’t close to enough to live off.

The Illinois program wants to give $5k in cash to homeowning blacks who lived in the suburb in the 50s and 60s and their children. Again the top 25% of ADoS but not the top 5%.

    • Replies: @ic1000
    @Lot

I don't see any call to limit reparations to ADoS.

From non-ADoS sufferers of racism (months, centuries, whatever), this makes obvious sense.

For ADoS, the Coalition of the Fringes logic is equally clear.

Unlike many here, I would be for reparations if they were limited to ADoS, and were designed to strengthen U.S. civic society, and were the quid to a pro quo. In other words: once paid, the pre-1960s slate would be wiped clean.

Since each of the three conditions has a 0% chance of being met, I'm against them.

Yeah I've long pointed out that if we do do reparations we have to take into account the tens of trillions of dollars that has either been directly redistributed to blacks or has been lost through the opportunity costs of hiring less competent people, crime, lowered real estate values, etc. When all the accounting has been done, I think blacks will end up owing us. It also should be noted that there were only 4 million slaves in 1860 and now they have well over 40 million descendants. If any debt is still owed to the descendants of those slaves, it's far less than what would have been owed to the slaves themselves.

Igbo were traditional enemies of the ancestors of black Americans.

... my great-grandfather Nwaubani Ogogo Oriaku. Nwaubani Ogogo was a slave trader who gained power and wealth by selling other Africans across the Atlantic. “He was a renowned trader,” my father told me proudly. “He dealt in palm produce and human beings.”

Long before Europeans arrived, Igbos enslaved other Igbos as punishment for crimes, for the payment of debts, and as prisoners of war. The practice differed from slavery in the Americas: slaves were permitted to move freely in their communities and to own property, but they were also sometimes sacrificed in religious ceremonies or buried alive with their masters to serve them in the next life. When the transatlantic trade began, in the fifteenth century, the demand for slaves spiked. Igbo traders began kidnapping people from distant villages. Sometimes a family would sell off a disgraced relative, a practice that Ijoma Okoro, a professor of Igbo history at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, likens to the shipping of British convicts to the penal colonies in Australia: “People would say, ‘Let them go. I don’t want to see them again.’ ” Between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, nearly one and a half million Igbo slaves were sent across the Middle Passage...

The descendants of freed slaves in southern Nigeria, called ohu, still face significant stigma. Igbo culture forbids them from marrying freeborn people, and denies them traditional leadership titles such as Eze and Ozo. (The osu, an untouchable caste descended from slaves who served at shrines, face even more severe persecution.)

I’m all in favor of naming Chicago area schools for a Chicago area recent President who’s still alive. Roosevelt even Kennedy were a long time ago but Obama’s alive and middle aged. The kids might like it.

Or name every school in the state LGRO for Lincoln Grant Regean Obama. Or PS 1,2,3 etc to completely avoid any controversy. Except numbers are Eurocentric and tools of heterosexual White men to oppress women minorities lunatics and weirdos.

If the illegals really want a Hispanic, I suggest naming it for the most famous and historically important Illinois Hispanic . Danny Escobedo the infamous plaintiff murderer and drug dealer of Escobedo vs Illinois USSC 1964. That was the case that requires that police not question a suspect without an attorney present. Unless suspect waived the right to an attorney.

After the Supreme Court decision he was released from the prison he’d been sent to after murdering brother in law. He then became a drug dealer driving illegal drugs from Texas to Chicago stopping off in Memphis St Louis etc along the way. He was arrested and jailed many times for bar fights assaults and other crimes. He murdered another victim.

Illinois Latinos criticize plan to rename school after ‘deporter-in-chief’ Obama

Hilarious. Obama as The Big Deporter was a propaganda lie based on a change in counting methodology, used to prop up Obama's "tough on immigration" creds because he wasn't really deporting anybody. Yet since the Left always believes The Narrative, these people are opposing the name based on a deliberate act of deceit they don't know about because the media hid it.

  30. One might expect academics to appreciate the historical irony of Igbo immigrants using affirmative action set asides intended to benefit the descendants of blacks whom they helped enslave, but I expect mentioning that to be declared a form of intersectional bigotry (anti-immigrant! anti-black!). Prepare for lots of earnest, emotional, light-on-facts essays about how systemic racism and the American slave trade harmed the African continent, and it is therefore our solemn duty to allow all Africans to immigrate to America so the talented elite can fill Ivy League and corporate quotas while the untalented masses are settled in a neighborhood near you.

The elite colleges know as well as the corporations that there isn’t much academic talent to found in the ADOS population; plus American blacks tend to behave badly. Blacks rioting on campus or shooting everyone in sight wouldn’t impress tuition-paying parents or alumni donors.

  31. White women live in a fact-free universe. They’re not interested in facts. They see how males compete–often violently–and they want to expunge that from society and substitute an all-inclusive universe. This all comes down to eliminating competition between males. White women don’t understand that males were and are biologically programmed and designed for violent encounters with other men in competition for resources, of which they are one.

We white males don’t want Igbos relocating here. For us, they’re nothing but trouble, a headache. We will have to support them, readjust the contours of our society to make room for their kinkiness. Plainly we see that they aren’t worth the effort. But we live in a top-to-bottom feminized society. Busybody women have inserted themselves into every niche. They rule with the sensibilities and perspective of a third-grade teacher. In their appalling ignorance, they are a menace to civil society.

It is not possible to sustain a successful, technological social system in which women are allowed access to the highest levels of power. They are too ignorant to rule. Equally ignorant Igbos will be their allies. The motto of the white woman citizen is “There’s always room for one more” as she becomes foster mother to the world and her poor beleaguered ex-husbands are called upon to generate yet more wealth from a failing system, one that is failing precisely because of the increase in free-riding incompetent immigrants..

It seems odd to say this, me being a liberal and all that, but some of the more interesting ideas about affirmative action come from Steve.

One of the many, many reasons why people disagree on reparations is this --
Many white Americans incorrectly think that affirmative action programs ARE reparations.

Let's look at what is really happening.

    And so on.

Also, affirmative action isn't as powerful as people think it is. It can get an occasional scholarship, or admission to a better college, or an occasional first job, but 10 years down the pike it doesn't help much at all.

Thing is, if affirmative action were what most white Americans think it was, it WOULD be a good form of reparations. But it isn't.

To be fair, MENAs are not white. They are Caucasians (mostly) racially, but in America, white does not just mean Caucasian. ‘White’ is what we call the nameless ethnic group that is the American nation. It includes the ethnicity that cannot be named and the more-or-less assimilated European and adjacent immigrants pre-1965.

I think if more people realized that ‘white’ in the US means the ethnic group that should perhaps be call ‘American’ some things would be clearer. On the Sopranos, Tony said he wasn’t white, meaning he had not assimilated into our meta-ethnic group. When Jews say they aren’t white, they partially want a pass on the pogroms they have in mind, but they also partly mean that they aren’t ‘mayonnaise’ people. To become white (if they aren’t, we can send them home come the revolution, right?) Jews had to become Protestants. They don’t eat pork or cheeseburgers (some of them), and they get bonus holidays, but Reform Jews have dropped the culture they used to exploit Europeans. I mean, um, that Europeans forced them into a horrible niche where they had a high standard of living and a population explosion.

To become white, islamics would have to drop even more of their religion and worldview than Jews did. MENAs (mean ass?) are if I remember correctly, no smarter than American blacks, so there are no big prizes for them behind the assimilation door. I think that if MENAs lose their religion, it will be driven by the women. What with the clit-slitting and honor killings, they really do get a raw deal. Though maybe Muslims who don’ deal with Africans much don’t do female genital mutilation? On the other hand, perhaps America will stay somewhat American. Then the lengths Muslims will have to through to stay polygynous might give women enough freedom, things like having to put each wife “single mom” in her own apartment in small building, that they stay islamic. Also depends on how much inter group attraction there is between white men and MENA women. If MENA females end up in the same boat with black females, where men of other populations just aren’t that into them, the pull and prizes of assimilation are much smaller. That bodes I’ll for assimilation in general.

Lastly, come the revolution and ensuing ethnostate, do you think MENAs will be allowed to stay in the white one? Of course not. Hence, non-white.

Do not get me wrong, I want to cut immigration to zero. I want the ones already here pressured to drop their culture and religion. That or go home - is no reason anyone in the US should be tempted to join Islamic State, or whatever the hopeless cause they fall for is a decade from now. I do not want affirmative action or government programs that discriminate against whites. I don’t see why we should pretend there are more people in the white tent than there actually are.

As I seem to recall, the original version was quota system where there was an actual demand that x% of your workforce had to reflect x% of the population. At the time I took it largely as benefiting blacks. I thought that politicians knew that their success depended on availability of decent paying jobs and by imposing a quota system, it forced corporate America to start to hire assorted minorities in positions they would not have otherwise. Then came the demand for minority owned businesses to get a share of the pie. At the time it included women as a minority so suddenly you had all these companies where the wife was made the president and owner while the husband ran things behind the scenes.

    , @Anonymous
    @Nicholas Stix

From a legal point of view AA isn’t reparation, i.e. award of property in compensation for injury (another problem with the mainline reparations bidness, because no remaining ADOS have ever been enslaved, inside the U.S. anyway, and at least some are descended from white slave holders). AA is the legislature “expressing its sense that” those people arbitrarily identified with the disadvantaged/weaker race get an unlimited preference going forward for jobs and bennies. The “Asian” category dates back to LBJ and Nixon expanded AA to include “Hispanics.” So inevitably it becomes a lawyering expedition for basically white people like Eric Holder Jr. and Kamala Harris to perform self-help via identification with the legal-fictional AA groups. You now see Asian race-women like Tammy Duckworth and Mazie Hirono trying to horn in on this.

Symbolic judgments of reparations would yield nothing tangible except billable hours for attorneys but I don’t think they’re as open-ended as EEOC complaints and DOJ civil rights lawsuits. These aren’t law-enforcing mechanisms of AA, they’re just part of the state-mafia toolkit. Nobody can honestly claim they are constitutional. However, it is way too late in the day to roll this back. Being a race Robespierre anywhere in the courts or federal law-enforcement has been a lucrative occupation for decades. The system would have to crash completely before this job description goes away. I doubt we will still have jury trials in 2026.

The Igbo embraced the Catholicism of Irish missionaries to Nigeria and flourished. Heroic Irish priests and nuns— particularly the Holy Ghost Fathers— founded churches and first-rate schools among the Igbo.

This Irish priest saved thousands of Igbo lives and is the only white Igbo chief in the world:

    https://thebostonpilot.com/article.asp?ID=14302

Hyde Park pastor proclaimed chief for work in Nigeria

BOSTON — In the darkness of a war that would claim an estimated three million lives, one Catholic priest kept the light of Christ burning in a parish through war-torn years in Nigeria.

The pastor of Most Precious Blood in Hyde Park Father Peter Nolan, CSSp, visited the Parish of the Assumption in Nimo, Nigeria, where from 1961 to 1969, over the course of two four-year stays, he helped build and sustain the parish even through the worst possible circumstances.

“The presence of God for some reason in the midst of suffering was greater than ever,” Father Nolan said, recalling his work as a missionary.

In recognition of the accomplishments of his ministry there 50 years ago, elders and tribal leaders made Father Nolan an honorary chief of the Ibo tribe at a ceremony on Dec. 31 celebrating the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first missionaries in the town of Nimo.

“I was overwhelmed with the way I was received. It was very touching,” Father Nolan said.

After being installed as a chief of the town, under the name Ichie Ozioma I of Nimo, which translates “elder of the Gospel message” with the “I” meaning “the first,” elders brought him through the town so each household could present him with a traditional chicken and yam, given whenever a person becomes a chief.

“A live chicken, cluck-cluck,” Father Nolan noted.

Father Nolan, a native of Dublin, Ireland, said he had no particular desire for a flock of live chicken, but knew he could not refuse the gesture.

At one home he said, “Look, I dispense you from bringing that chicken.”

The local objected. “Oh no, Father! You can’t! That’s our culture! You can’t do that. You must take the chicken,” he said.

Father Nolan recalled his work during the difficult time in Nigerian history that led to the honor.

From 1961 to 1965 Father Nolan served as a missionary in Nimo, after becoming a Holy Ghost Father in Ireland.

He first went to Nimo before the bishop sent him to travel through the area of Aguleri in southeast Nigeria.

“We would spend a night in each village in camp beds baptizing and instructing,” he recalled.

He then went back to Nimo and served as pastor, before heading home to Ireland for six months.

On his second trip to Nimo from 1965 to 1969 the tide of war rose around the parish and the seven Catholic school buildings where he preached, penetrating even the safety of his home.

“Sometimes looking back I would say to myself, ‘How did I do it?’” he said.

In 1967 the Republic of Biafra tried to break away from the African country of Nigeria. The ensuing war lasted until 1970.

As the war raged Father Nolan continued celebrating Mass every day at Catholic schools in the area even though the conflict saw the church shelled twice.

“My mission house, the rectory if you like, was strafed with bullets numbers of times. It’s a miracle I wasn’t shot,” he said.

In the final stages of the chaotic war — which saw prop-plane air forces flying against airfields of jets — the area near Nimo became the front line of the war.

“At times I cried, you know. There were times when I would see all these babies and mothers with the babies dying in their arms, and that inspired and struck me. So I would say, ‘God, can you help me?’ You didn’t know where to turn, but you would turn to God,” Father Nolan said.

The situation got worse before it got better, and Father Nolan said the greatest problem near the end of the war became starvation and a disease called kwashiorkor, causing a swollen belly from lack of protein.

Father Nolan said the people banded together to help one another as 100 women helped him run ten make-shift facilities with food sent from Catholic relief organizations to feed the 10,000 refugees in the area.

“The people inspired me too, because they were all turning to God. God became a big part of our life in the midst of starvation and suffering,” he said.

When starvation began claiming the lives of the poor caught between the armies, Father Nolan began a program to take babies from the Nigerian countryside to West Africa.

One man who currently lives in Texas, came to see Father Nolan on his trip to Nimo in December and January.

“He said, ‘I was one of the babies that through you was sent to Gabon,” Father Nolan recounted. Gabon was a former French territory in West Africa.

Today, Nimo has 13 parishes that live now in relative peace, but Father Nolan said it is the time of hardship in those years that he still recalls in his homilies.

“The thing I have often said to people is that I have never sensed the feeling of God, strange as it might seem, as in that particular era,” Father Nolan said.

One corrosive aspect is that we have created whole classes of AA jobs which people hold forever.

Another corrosive aspect is the AA brigades mounting constant warfare on real jobs by demanding equal representation despite no qualified pool of candidates in sight.

I was going to ask that. Thanks. To be fair, a quick googling did not have show any sites giving a breakdown of scammers by tribe. There were mentions of scammers using their native languages, some Igbo, some Yoruba. But https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/348131-full-list-of-77-nigerians-charged-by-fbi-for-massive-fraud-in-america.html has people in the comments section saying all these criminals are igbo.

There are some people who talk about the relative luck India had in being colonized by the British. They got a huge leg up in English. The Indians have used that boost to have strong positions in outsourced phone support and IT. Though, to be fair, there are a lot of Indian telephone scammers, too.

The fact that Nigerians took such a huge, unearned boon - relatively high English skills - and could not come up with anything productive speaks volumes. Are they a nation of gypsies?

The evil genius is much more prevalent in fiction than in reality. Being a decent person correlates moderately with IQ. It is possible that trait-trait correlations are different in different populations - that would be a really interesting thing to know, actually.

Rushton wrote a book about racial differences in psychopathy. From most to leads, of course is African, European, Asian.

One reason that people study other cultures’ culture - art, lit, folklore etc, is the idea that traditional religion, folklore, etc of a people tells you something about that people. About the only bit of African folklore anyone knows about is Anansi the spider and Br’er Rabbit, both tricksters who are typically the tale’s protagonist. Other cultures have stories with tricksters, say, Loki in Norse myth. Difference is, Loki was a villian.

Do dishonest peoples advertise that through their myths and folklore?

Born in the first quarter of the last century, in Nyanza Province, on the shores of Lake Victoria, she had no formal schooling, and in the ways of her tribe, she was married off to a much older man while only a teen. She would spend the rest of her life in the tiny village of Alego, in a small home built of mud-and thatch brick and without electricity or indoor plumbing. There she raised eight children, tended to her goats and chickens, grew an assortment of crops, and took what the family didn’t use to sell at the local open-air market.

Although not his birth mother, Granny would raise my father as her own, and it was in part thanks to her love and encouragement that he was able to defy the odds and do well enough in school to get a scholarship to attend an American university. When our family had difficulties, her homestead was a refuge for her children and grandchildren, and her presence was a constant, stabilizing force. When I first traveled to Kenya to learn more about my heritage and father, who had passed away by then, it was Granny who served as a bridge to the past, and it was her stories that helped fill a void in my heart.

During the course of her life, Granny would witness epochal changes taking place around the globe: world war, liberation movements, moon landings, and the advent of the computer age. She would live to fly on jets, receive visitors from around the world, and see one of her grandsons get elected to the United States presidency. And yet her essential spirit—strong, proud, hard-working, unimpressed with conventional marks of status and full of common sense and good humor—never changed.

MENA’s tried to get themselves declared as a minority this go around but didn’t have the political muscle to do so. Maybe in 2030.

That or go home – is no reason anyone in the US should be tempted to join Islamic State, or whatever the hopeless cause they fall for is a decade from now. I do not want affirmative action or government programs that discriminate against whites. I don’t see why we should pretend there are more people in the white tent than there actually are.

So they boosted the garbage deadweights on downriver to gullible “Europeans” for various metals, guns, broadcloth bolts, beads, hats, steel weapons, the usual desirable Euro stuff that “natives” all over the world used to hanker for.

The fact that Nigerians took such a huge, unearned boon – relatively high English skills – and could not come up with anything productive speaks volumes. Are they a nation of gypsies?

The evil genius is much more prevalent in fiction than in reality. Being a decent person correlates moderately with IQ. It is possible that trait-trait correlations are different in different populations – that would be a really interesting thing to know, actually.

Rushton wrote a book about racial differences in psychopathy. From most to leads, of course is African, European, Asian.

One reason that people study other cultures’ culture – art, lit, folklore etc, is the idea that traditional religion, folklore, etc of a people tells you something about that people.

I don't know much about the Igbo. I just remembered this one fact/rumor from a very interesting biography about 1970s Ghana (not Nigeria). John M. Chernoff, Hustling Is Not Stealing: Stories of an African Bar Girl (Chicago, 2003).

This thread is filled with tons of misconceptions about ADoS people and Nigeria.

    1. ADoS have significant DNA contribution from Igbos. As in the majority of them have Igbo DNA of some kind, At the time transatlantic slavery became big, Igbo was split into 3 nation-states. 2 kingdoms and a confederation of villages. They fought each other and others and would sell slaves from opposing kingdoms as well as be sold by the Benin Kingdom (not Igbo) largely. At least 1 of the 3 nations in Igboland did not participate in the slave trade. The largest contribution are the neighboring Yoruba followed by the Kongo (ethnic group) and finally people from the Senegambia region. Yoruba were also slave traders and slaves themselves for much of the same reason as the Igbo. The Benin Empire being between them, and various Yoruba nations selling other Yoruba folks.

    2. Not every super- successful Nigerian is Igbo. Not even the majority. It’s still an overrepresentation. But Yoruba, Ijaw, Edo (Benin) and all Southern Nigerans are generally overrepresented as well, just to slightly lesser extents. You all label every successful Nigerian Igbo because it suits your HDI argument. But it’s not even remotely true.

Nigerian Noble Prize Winner- Wole Soyinka- Yoruba,
    Chinua Achebe- Igbo
“Smartest Black Man”- Phillip Emeagwali- Igbo
Victor Olalusi “Russian Record Holder for GPA at Medical Institution” – Yoruba
“Smartest Family in Britain”- Imafidons- Edo
“Got into all 8 ivy league schools”- Harold Ekeh- Igbo, Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna- Igbo, Ifeoma White-Thorpe- Igbo
Ufot Ekong “Highest grade at a Japanese University in 50 years”- Efik/Ibibio (not Igbo)

Aliko Dangote- Richest Black Man- Hausa
The Nigerian American population of both America and UK are majority Yoruba+Igbo (50-80% but only 39% of Nigeria). Yoruba’s are larger portion of the Nigerian community in both countries. The other minorities aren’t that uncommon either.

The stereotype goes like this among the big three ethnic groups of Nigeria
Yaruba --- more into education and arts.
Igbo--- more into business and more entrepreneurial.
    Hausa up north----more into Government

Hausas are mostly Muslim, Igbos mostly Christian and Yaruba have both Muslims and Christians. The Muslims tend to live up north near the Sahara and Christians more down South in the more tropical parts. The British got along more with the Muslims than the Christians down South. Even though many Christian Nigerians were Anglicans or Presbyterians. I suspect partly because the Christians down South were more educated and as a rule most anti-colonial movements start among Western educated natives. I think the literacy rate among Igbos was already near 30% during the last days of Empire and up North among the Islamic Hausas, only about 2% had western education. The Hausas even opposed Independence but only agreed to support it if their Colonial era Governmental privileges would be maintained. Earlier Nigeria was divided into the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and the Northern Nigeria Protectorate and later the British united the two into "Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria" bringing the Hausa and Igbo in the same colony and thus later the country. Igbo Biafra separatist nationalists still blame Lord Frederick Lugard, the British general for this disastrous unification.
All of these ethnic groups/ tribes had different tribal governmental hierarchical structures before British rule with the Igbos completely opposite of the Northern Muslim Hausa with the Yaruba having a system in between the two.
After Independence, many Igbos migrated up north and since they were more educated as well as more entrepreneurial (includes a lot of scamming the locals), they were taking over the economy of the Muslim Hausas and others. There was a massive backlash against Igbos in the North with many even killed. This and many other reasons triggered the Biafra Independence movement of the Igbos, by the Governor of the Eastern Region Lt. Colonel Emeka Ojukwu, wanting independence from the Nigerian State. There was also the issue of oil wealth. The Nigerian Delta folk still complain that most of their oil wealth goes to the Nigerian Central government and not much is invested locally.
The Nigerian State responded brutally and blocked flow of food to Igboland/ Biafra leading to the death of about 3 million Igbos. Britain obviously supported the Nigerian State but France supported the Biafrans, Lt. Colonel Emeka Ojukwu, cancelled many oil deals with British companies and gave them to French companies. The USSR and Egypt supported the Nigerian State with Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt sending Egyptian pilots to help Nigeria crush the Igbo Biafrans while Israel supported the Igbos. The Congolese government, under President Joseph-Désiré Mobutu, deployed thousands of Congolese troops in support of the Nigerian State to fight crush the Igbo secessionists.

Yeah I’ve long pointed out that if we do do reparations we have to take into account the tens of trillions of dollars that has either been directly redistributed to blacks or has been lost through the opportunity costs of hiring less competent people, crime, lowered real estate values, etc. When all the accounting has been done, I think blacks will end up owing us. It also should be noted that there were only 4 million slaves in 1860 and now they have well over 40 million descendants. If any debt is still owed to the descendants of those slaves, it’s far less than what would have been owed to the slaves themselves.

Igbo were traditional enemies of the ancestors of black Americans. Wonder how that history would play out today...

    Replies: @Tony, @for-the-record

Igbo were traditional enemies of the ancestors of black Americans.

… my great-grandfather Nwaubani Ogogo Oriaku.

I don’t want to see them again.’ ” Between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, nearly one and a half million Igbo slaves were sent across the Middle Passage…

Let’s say for sake of argument Koreans and Nigerian Americans have the same IQ, the former is applied to the entire race, whereas latter is an elite endogamous slice similar to Indian upper castes.

There are less than a million Nigerian Americans, if you grow to 10 million have your own independent state, then in theory you can build an industrialized state/Wakanda.

MENA’s tried to get themselves declared as a minority this go around but didn’t have the political muscle to do so. Maybe in 2030.

    Yes.

In recent years we’ve found a new yardstick: the polygenic score. It’s a more direct genetic measurement, being a summation of alleles that have been linked to higher educational attainment. As a method for estimating the mean cognitive ability of a population, it seems to be as good as IQ tests. Piffer (2019) found a 90% correlation between the two methods. Interestingly, that study shows differences in mean cognitive ability within West Africa: the Mende of Sierra Leone score much lower than the Yoruba of Nigeria. In fact, the Yoruba have almost the same polygenic score as do African Americans, even though the latter have about 20% European admixture. Unfortunately, we have no data on the Igbo of Nigeria, who are known to be high achievers at school and in other areas of life […] A study of six secondary schools in inner London found that results on the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) were higher for African students who spoke Igbo, Yoruba, Luganda, and Ga than for White British students who spoke only English

    My thoughts on reparations are:

    1. Any black citizen who wants reparations will have to prove that their forebears were kidnapped and taken away from Africa. Recipients of any reparation money have to use it for repatriation to Wakanda. Citizens of any African nation which sold blacks into slavery will have to pony up as well.

Only lately has it gone ahead of India in basic infrastructure. It is a much smaller country. Nearly all Bangladeshi villages are now connected with good road systems lately. Also the policies of the more present secular Awami League Government are much better for investment. Compared to the earlier Islamo fundamentalist BNP party. That would be the Bangladesh Nationalist Party of Begum Khaleda Zia not the British Nationalist Party of Nick Griffin or the French bank BNP Paribas BTW.

for example the transport is far better in India where the railway system puts many US state railways to shame in terms of the track coverage and the frequency of trains.

That is true, and nearly 80% of the Indian railway networks which India has today was already built by the Government of India - British Raj, like then during the British Empire days and as of now, Indians traveled around on a railway system with some of the cheapest fares in the world. But that makes sense. Extensive passenger railway network makes a lot more economic sense in densely populated areas of the World like India, China, S.Korea, Japan, and most of Europe. The USA overall, has a much lower population density compared to these regions of Eurasia and the Car lobby saw to it that public transport never develop much in the USA. And besides Americans love freedom with their big cars.
BTW, recently SUVs are becoming the craze in India too. Recently I see a lot of Greazy arrogant thuggish Indians with gold chains driving around their huge SUVs honking furiously on over-congested Indian roads. Oy vey. I personally have one very small car (Suzuki Alto 800) and a big saloon car (Volkswagen Passat) for myself. Use the big saloon car on rare occasions like on highways, or going to the Railway Station/Airport with luggage etc... Easier to use smaller car for congested Indian roads, I cannot imagine driving a SUV in those places. But the Gold chain wearing nouveau riche thaagards needta show off and sheet.. and block traffic and also pollute our already super polluted cities.

Pakistan is probably worse but that is because people there tend to be more extremist when it comes to Islam(

Pakistan was once ahead of India in standard of living in national promise when ruled by Anglofied Political elites. However later it went Islamic fundu and screwed up. Also in India there had been extensive land reforms after independence while Pakistan remained more feudal, the needed land reforms did not take place in Pakistan. India has to thank Vinobha Bhave a true Gandhian, more Gandhian than the original (slimeball) Gandhi, for this Bhoodan (Bhoomi dan or land donation) movement. Highly respected throughout India, Vinobha Bhave would go to big land owners and ask them how many sons they had. For example if they answered 3, he would say, "I am your fourth son" and thus give me one forth of your land. That land was redistributed to landless farmers. Quite a excellent idea. However many scumbag big landlords would only give the least fertile lands or rocky lands in donation. Vinobha Bhave was one Indian leader who had no beef with the British Empire in the usual way. When asked if he believed the British Empire harmed India, he answered Yes. For two reasons only. The British brought peace and stability in India via Pax Britannia and thus Indian infighting before that stopped. Secondly the British brought modern medicine and hygiene. Due to both these reasons, India's population increased too fast and now is increasing poverty.

Speaking of population growth, one good thing Bangladesh did and thus is reaping its rewards is promote population control. Even the Islamic Mullah's were promoting small families. This made it possible to bring run away poverty under control and work towards improving social progress in education and healthcare for the masses. Pakistan is seeing runaway population growth which will cause problems in the future.

Actually Bangladesh has been India's Mexico for a long time. Many Bangladeshi illegals would slip into India for a better life. They were undercutting local labour in wages and because Bangladeshis are mostly Muslims, this made Hindus in India uneasy. There was a huge popular appeal by the masses of India to clampdown and completely stop illegal immigration from Bangladesh. To build a Wall. The Indo-Bangladesh border wall construction has been going on for some time and maybe it has completed. Illegal Bangladeshis were caught and deported to the border by the police, sometimes in cattle cars.

However now, Bangladesh is turning into India's Vietnam. Just like Vietnam is sucking up Chinese manufacturing, Bangladesh is now sucking up the garment industry of India. Indian companies are themselves setting up shop in Bangladesh. And thanks to Indian PM Modi's disastrous economic policies, soon Indians may start illegally crossing the Indian built wall into Bangladesh, the wall originally built to stop illegal Bangladeshis from moving to India!!!.

    • Replies: @Paleo Liberal
    @Alec Leamas (hard at work)

"it doesn't help much at all" was probably a bit too pat an answer.

What affirmative action for college admissions, and for first jobs, is good at is sometimes finding the diamond in the rough. The idea is to get the person from a community that normally doesn't feed into the good schools, and see if one of the stars from that school can make it.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it works really well. Other times it doesn't.

There is an old saying, "it's not the Indian, it's the arrow".

I went to a prestigious liberal arts college. Someone did a study of students with the same HS GPAs who went to the fancy college vs. students who went to State U. Not surprisingly, the students who went to Fancy College did better in their careers. So the assumption is that going to Fancy College was a big advantage over State U. Then, they looked more deeply. They looked at students who were accepted to Fancy College but attended State U vs. students who went to Fancy College.

    They found no difference.

What they decided is that the admissions office for Fancy College was better able to determine future leaders. Not all the time, but more often than not. If John and Joe have the same GPA and test scores, but Fancy College admits John but not Joe, then John is more likely to have that extra something not measured by GPA that will give him an edge in life., even if John goes to State U.
That is what I meant that 10 years down the line it doesn't make much difference. The truly exceptional will tend to rise to the top.

This doesn't always work, of course.

On one hand, when I look at the guys I went to college with, some did very well. One is a famous scientist, another founded a billion dollar company, another is a US Senator. But then, the smartest student I knew at that school, who completely blew the future famous scientist out of the water in Physics class and would get comments like "this is the best paper I've ever seen" in her liberal arts classes, dropped out of college to join the Moonies.

Or, I have a cousin who tried to get into Stanford, but settled for State U instead. I am not sure if his net worth is in the tens of millions or over 100 million, but he was a reasonably successful entrepreneur, which Stanford completely missed,

    So the system isn't perfect.

Back then, some of the black students I knew didn't last past their first year, but others did graduate. There are those who say it was unfair to put the black students in a situation they couldn't handle, but some of them DID handle it well. Especially the African students.

These days so many, many great students apply to the top colleges that they really don't ever admit any students who are less than exceptional. Harvard and Stanford admit about 4-5% of the applicants. The way they do it is:
    1. They find the really qualified students.
    2. Then they look at which of those students show exceptional promise.
    3. They also look at which of these really qualified students will fill their coxswain spot, or be their next quarterback, or are a legacy.

In fact, for many schools, there are far more spots for the great athletes and legacies than for affirmative action students, so if there are "more qualified" students who do NOT get in, more don't get in because some rich Eurotrash parents trained their kid in fencing or gymnastics from age 3 so their kid could get into an Ivy.

For lower tier schools, there are probably some affirmative action students who just aren't good enough, as in the old days. But for the top tier schools, pretty much every student is qualified to be there.

EDIT to add: in the beginning, many wanted affirmative action to include working class whites. That would have been interesting.

It's still an overrepresentation. But Yoruba, Ijaw, Edo (Benin) and all Southern Nigerans are generally overrepresented as well, just to slightly lesser extents. You all label every successful Nigerian Igbo because it suits your HDI argument. But it's not even remotely true.

Nigerian Noble Prize Winner- Wole Soyinka- Yoruba,
    Chinua Achebe- Igbo
"Smartest Black Man"- Phillip Emeagwali- Igbo
Victor Olalusi "Russian Record Holder for GPA at Medical Institution" - Yoruba
"Smartest Family in Britain"- Imafidons- Edo
"Got into all 8 ivy league schools"- Harold Ekeh- Igbo, Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna- Igbo, Ifeoma White-Thorpe- Igbo
Ufot Ekong "Highest grade at a Japanese University in 50 years"- Efik/Ibibio (not Igbo)

Aliko Dangote- Richest Black Man- Hausa
The Nigerian American population of both America and UK are majority Yoruba+Igbo (50-80% but only 39% of Nigeria). Yoruba's are larger portion of the Nigerian community in both countries. The other minorities aren't that uncommon either.

I’ve always known this about racial preferences. Over time, the preference based on skin color doesn’t achieve proportionate results in achievement — leadership, pay, visibility at the top levels of an institution, etc. It’s like a drug — you give acceptance to school, scholarships, jobs, promotions — and there’s a need for more an more of it when you’re not satisfied with the results.

This is because of a root cause issue — the root cause of black advancement levels (or lack thereof) is not discrimination, or the failure to “prime the pump” with representative examples. The root cause is based on performance and merit. And giving a preference doesn’t solve it, it exacerbates it.

I think the undersupply of candidates for affirmative action will lead to the importation of blacks from other country (on a net basis). The world is a big place — if the U.S. is allowed to cherry-pick from an entire continent, there might be enough candidates to make corporate America and the universities happy enough to pat themselves on the back and move on.

"One of the many, many reasons why people disagree on reparations is this —

Of course, AA was born as a reparations scam for blacks. But then, black supremacists and their White allies developed amnesia, and demanded reparations again, got them, and again developed amnesia...

Whites never owed blacks anything. Whites didn't enslave blacks, Whites emancipated them.

    Replies: @Aardvark, @Anonymous

There was once a time when Wisconsin had a much more generous welfare program than did Illinois.

Amazingly, quite a number of the poorest residents of Illinois moved north.

Even more amazing, the disparities of academic achievement, wealth, etc. between the German and Scandinavian whites and the welfare recipient blacks was enormous, which therefore proves that Wisconsin is racist, because of such a high black/white difference.

On Madison forums I would sometimes see people say the black/white racial disparity proved racism and white privilege, etc.

    But,

Madison also has what is probably the most prosperous Hmong community on the planet, and probably the most educated as well. Part of it is the U of Wisconsin, some of it is that there are a number of Hong small businessmen and small farmers who are doing quite well. My son had a Hmong friend who got a full ride scholarship to Harvard. Not bad for a jungle Asian.

The per capita income of the local Hmong is still about 1/2 of that of the whites, but these are not folks in abject poverty. The largest group are working class, which is a step up from, say, the Twin Cities.

    Also,

Madison has a small, but exceptionally prosperous and well educated Native American community, mostly because of the U of Wisconsin drawing the best and brightest Indians from around the state and other states as well.

    So, what does that mean?

I think it just shows the effect of small sample sizes skewed by external factors, but what do I know?

And yes, there is some anti-black and anti-Hmong racism in Madison, but not really any more than any other place. A Native American who grew up here said he faced less discrimination in Madison than elsewhere.

That might depend on WHICH Nigerians we take.

As many have pointed out, the Igbo tend to have the same sort of role in West Africa that Jews had in Europe and Chinese in the Far East. Sometimes Chinese were called the Jews of the Orient and Igbo the Jews of Africa.

If we took a one-shot of the 30,000 smartest and hardest working Igbo, it is doubtful it would have a detrimental effect on the country. It is doubtful these folks would cause much crime, being at the top of the intellectual food chain.

As far as lost job opportunities for Americans, it would be a much smaller effect than that year's H1-B visa intake from India. 30,000 one time into a country of 330 million is less than 1/10,000.

The problem would be if we took, say a few million Nigerians or a few million Albanians or a few million Latin Americans or a few million whatever. And then did it again, and again, and again.

Also, affirmative action isn’t as powerful as people think it is. It can get an occasional scholarship, or admission to a better college, or an occasional first job, but 10 years down the pike it doesn’t help much at all.

So, what you're saying is that AA takes precious seats at elite legacy institutions which provide enormous opportunity in our zero sum rat race society and . . . squanders them?

    Replies: @Paleo Liberal

“it doesn’t help much at all” was probably a bit too pat an answer.

What affirmative action for college admissions, and for first jobs, is good at is sometimes finding the diamond in the rough. The idea is to get the person from a community that normally doesn’t feed into the good schools, and see if one of the stars from that school can make it.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it works really well. Other times it doesn’t.

There is an old saying, “it’s not the Indian, it’s the arrow”.

That is what I meant that 10 years down the line it doesn’t make much difference. The truly exceptional will tend to rise to the top.

This doesn’t always work, of course.

On one hand, when I look at the guys I went to college with, some did very well. One is a famous scientist, another founded a billion dollar company, another is a US Senator. But then, the smartest student I knew at that school, who completely blew the future famous scientist out of the water in Physics class and would get comments like “this is the best paper I’ve ever seen” in her liberal arts classes, dropped out of college to join the Moonies.

Or, I have a cousin who tried to get into Stanford, but settled for State U instead. I am not sure if his net worth is in the tens of millions or over 100 million, but he was a reasonably successful entrepreneur, which Stanford completely missed,

    So the system isn’t perfect.

Back then, some of the black students I knew didn’t last past their first year, but others did graduate. There are those who say it was unfair to put the black students in a situation they couldn’t handle, but some of them DID handle it well. Especially the African students.

These days so many, many great students apply to the top colleges that they really don’t ever admit any students who are less than exceptional.

In fact, for many schools, there are far more spots for the great athletes and legacies than for affirmative action students, so if there are “more qualified” students who do NOT get in, more don’t get in because some rich Eurotrash parents trained their kid in fencing or gymnastics from age 3 so their kid could get into an Ivy.

For lower tier schools, there are probably some affirmative action students who just aren’t good enough, as in the old days. But for the top tier schools, pretty much every student is qualified to be there.

EDIT to add: in the beginning, many wanted affirmative action to include working class whites. That would have been interesting.

American GDP and the financial class might benefit if our ruling trash imported 30,000 Nigerians to attend Brown University.

The quality of life of Americans and their posterity, otoh, would suffer the miseries of that demographic imposition in perpetuity.

    Replies: @Paleo Liberal

That might depend on WHICH Nigerians we take.

As many have pointed out, the Igbo tend to have the same sort of role in West Africa that Jews had in Europe and Chinese in the Far East. Sometimes Chinese were called the Jews of the Orient and Igbo the Jews of Africa.

If we took a one-shot of the 30,000 smartest and hardest working Igbo, it is doubtful it would have a detrimental effect on the country. It is doubtful these folks would cause much crime, being at the top of the intellectual food chain.

As far as lost job opportunities for Americans, it would be a much smaller effect than that year’s H1-B visa intake from India. 30,000 one time into a country of 330 million is less than 1/10,000.

The problem would be if we took, say a few million Nigerians or a few million Albanians or a few million Latin Americans or a few million whatever. And then did it again, and again, and again.

It’s like the difference between an occasional glass of liquor or drinking a fifth or two every day.

Before I clicked the link I knew the “Illinois city” in the reparations news-product had to be Evanston. Is this going to spread in the Upper MW as a screening protocol? Steve had theorized that they attracted too many criminal bands from the Black Belt gladiator/out-for-a-jog populations via generous Scandinavian-grade welfare.

Replies: @Paleo Liberal, @The Wild Geese Howard

Abolitionism came out of London. However, anti-abolition forces invaded Boston, at least three times. Look up Shadrach Minkins, Thomas Sims, and Anthony Burns. Burns's case was so shocking that, according to one Amos Adams Lawrence, “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”

Lawrence went on to fund the settlement of Kansas by New Englanders and founded universities in Kansas (guess where) and Wisconsin. All because some damn fool Virginian had to chase down some worthless truant who didn't show up for work. Whom any sane employer would have fired on the spot. (And replaced him with a white man.)

Direct that question to your fellow Unionists.

No Unionist here. States should have been expelled (under Article IV, Section 4), in ascending order of their whiteness, until a minimum standard was met. Indians wouldn't count; they were foreigners.

...and why do you insist on blaming your bad decision on others?

When have I blamed my decision (my decision?) on anyone else? I've consistently maintained that each side's position was self-destructive and essentially race treason.
  121. You know, the only thing wrong with the Brown U idea is that it is so, really, culturally one-sided.

    The solution is “equity.”

For each white or Asian student who voluntarily gives up their seat at Brown U, they should be required to spend an equal amount of time at the most “Ivy” like Nigerian university.

That way both groups can get a real feel for their differences and sameness. A year or two (or four) in Nigeria would do wonders for the typical Woke Brown student’s education. English is widely spoken.

For those with a sense of adventure, find a school in northeastern Nigeria. Lots of student kidnappings up there, and you might end up living in a remote forest for a few months, until ransom, or not. Learn about the nutritional value of roots, grubs, berries and insects first hand. Healthy outdoor living and lots of forest exploration and constant motion. No fatties there!

Also the policies of the more present secular Awami League Government are much better for investment. Compared to the earlier Islamo fundamentalist BNP party. for example the transport is far better in India where the railway system puts many US state railways to shame in terms of the track coverage and the frequency of trains.

That is true, and nearly 80% of the Indian railway networks which India has today was already built by the Government of India – British Raj, like then during the British Empire days and as of now, Indians traveled around on a railway system with some of the cheapest fares in the world.

For example if they answered 3, he would say, “I am your fourth son” and thus give me one forth of your land. Due to both these reasons, India’s population increased too fast and now is increasing poverty.

Speaking of population growth, one good thing Bangladesh did and thus is reaping its rewards is promote population control. Even the Islamic Mullah’s were promoting small families. This made it possible to bring run away poverty under control and work towards improving social progress in education and healthcare for the masses. Pakistan is seeing runaway population growth which will cause problems in the future.

Bangladesh is famous for Cox Bazaar beach, (named after Captain Hiram Cox, an officer of the British East India Company, a Superintendent of Palongkee outpost), which is the longest natural sea beach in the world running 150 kilometres. Bangladesh is also popular for foodies, Bangladesh is perhaps the richest agricultural place in the world due to all the rivers and being a river delta. So it is a rich land and has lots of fish. Bengalis love fish, even the ones in India. So it is a great place try out local foods.

Also the Chittagong Hill tracts region is supposed to be beautiful but because there are many separatist movements there, I do not know about the security situation or how much freedom is given to foreigners. The local Buddhist Chakma and others are fighting a long fight for freedom from Dhaka.

when there are many nearer countries they could emigrate to in Asia

Actually Bangladesh has been India’s Mexico for a long time.

Bangladesh has made a lot of progress in bringing its population boom under control.

Bangladesh and Nigeria are topographically similar with rich river delta soil to support a dense agricultural population, so if Bangladesh can control its once runaway population bubble, Nigeria ought to be able to too.

  131. I don’t know What TF an “Igbo” is, but as for Nigeria, isn’t it that corrupt, already massively overpopulated shit hole where they’re breeding like rats, to such an extreme that their population is predicted to top 600,000,000 within a few decades? Caveat: as with all population projections anywhere in the Third World, this mathematical result presumes they won’t encounter mass starvation or a civil war bloodbath along the way. The smart money, of course, says they will.

She’s Yoruba. Not Igbo. Like I said previously not every Nigerian who is successful or famous is Igbo. It’s not even half of the population.

The stereotype goes like this among the big three ethnic groups of Nigeria
Yaruba — more into education and arts.
Igbo— more into business and more entrepreneurial.
    Hausa up north—-more into Government

Earlier Nigeria was divided into the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and the Northern Nigeria Protectorate and later the British united the two into “Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria” bringing the Hausa and Igbo in the same colony and thus later the country.

"We’d be happy to return your stolen property held in Union states today. All 18.5 million of them. One proviso: you do not have the right to turn it down."

You broke it, you bought it. Richly deserved. I hope they stay in your Union states forever. Import infinite Igbos ... to New England.

"And what did you get in return?"

Direct that question to your fellow Unionists. They are the ones who fought to free them. What did you get out of it, and why do you insist on blaming your bad decision on others? The proximate reason for this situation lies with the moralizing fanaticism of your ancestors. Whether it's the Civil War or Civil Rights (or Systemic Racism, CRT, reeing about South African Apartheid, sanctioning Rhodesia or any of the other myriad East Coast fads coming out of Boston), your people have a knack for taking a bad racial situation and making it MUCH worse.

any of the other myriad East Coast fads coming out of Boston

Abolitionism came out of London. However, anti-abolition forces invaded Boston, at least three times. Look up Shadrach Minkins, Thomas Sims, and Anthony Burns. Burns’s case was so shocking that, according to one Amos Adams Lawrence, “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”

Lawrence went on to fund the settlement of Kansas by New Englanders and founded universities in Kansas (guess where) and Wisconsin. All because some damn fool Virginian had to chase down some worthless truant who didn’t show up for work. Whom any sane employer would have fired on the spot. (And replaced him with a white man.)

Direct that question to your fellow Unionists.

No Unionist here. States should have been expelled (under Article IV, Section 4), in ascending order of their whiteness, until a minimum standard was met. Indians wouldn’t count; they were foreigners.

“And what did you get in return?”

They are the ones who fought to free them. What did you get out of it and why do you insist on blaming your bad decision…

Lincoln made the bad decision by betraying the Colonization Society and by not embracing the gift of a 97% white America. People defend him on minor moral and legal points. On pragmatic ones, there really is no defense.

…and why do you insist on blaming your bad decision on others?

When have I blamed my decision (my decision?) on anyone else? I’ve consistently maintained that each side’s position was self-destructive and essentially race treason.
