One question is: How much do looters loot from each other? Do rioters have John Wick-type honor among thieves codes? Or is it just Hobbesian chaos out there?

Here’s video from the lovely Bay Area exurb of Walnut Creek:

Or is the reason that this kind of footage has been fairly rare so far is because looters have been targeting fashion goods, such as shoes, where size and style are very personal questions?

  1. Behavior reminds of jackals tormenting lions they munch down on their fresh kill. Lion is torn between chasing its antagonist and guarding its meal.

  2. There was a shooting amidst the looting in SoHo, NYC last night. I was monitoring it on the NYPD Citywide frequency… apparently one looter shot another. Details are not yet available.

  3. No. Near Detroit they will run into stores and just grab armloads of coats or boots and run out to the car past the security asking them to stop. Drive back to the D and exchange the haul at small food, booze and lotto stores (called ‘party stores’) for booze or lotto money. The store then places it on sale or sells it to barber or hair weave shops to sell*

*barbers and hair weave places usually have a small for sale section of food so the customers can scam pay for the services with their food stamp card and their girlfriend’s children’s WIC card.

The well known retail hotspot of Croydon, Surrey, was targeted and attacked by large gangs of violent determined looters.

I think psychologically when looting a store happens you just tend to accept the legitimacy of somebody having ownership of something when they pick it up (It’s what the looter themselves thinks when they pick something up) and leave. So that is just mugging really.

But I suppose if somebody is carting off a little more than they can carry it invites a sense that they’ve taken things a bit too far and one is justified in trying to skim some of it off them.

    • Replies: @Jane Plain
    @Altai

Well, yeah. Even among these baboons, there's a sense of ownership.

    But what about territoriality?

The most primally shocking thing about these riots is how many of them took place in the nicer parts of town. It's my impression that the first two days in Minnie, the rioters mainly burned down their own neighborhood.

But later the destruction was taken to "our" neighborhoods.

They crossed a line and there's no going back.

A lot of people have been locked in their homes for quite some time. Think of that as laying down kindling for the riot.

Worse, a lot of those people have been subsisting off free government money during that time and really don't want to go back to work.

I mean, why can't they have some time with free money and freedom rather than just one or the other?

If they're possible apart then they're possible together. (These people can rationalise.)

In fact, to many, cutting off free money feels like forcing people to go to work. This leaves them highly aggrieved.

Also, Trump has been the subject of a globally administered 2 minute hate programme for years. Perhaps we were only supposed to vent and rage at the TV, but that's a lot less fun and doesn't give you free stuff.

I mean this only partly in jest, but one can imagine that he'll be assassinated and will serve as the scapegoat for all of the roiling emotional tension in the world. His blood may still troubled souls and wash away hatreds. Or other scapegoats will be sought. It conflict will come. Or it will somehow all be repressed.

The one thing I am certain of though is that if civil war came to America that it would be highly televised and the principal entertainment for the globe. This may be a sickening thought but each episode would truly be unmissable.

  7. “targeting fashion goods, such as shoes, where size and style are very personal questions?”

    They’re not that cerebral, man.

It’s much simpler than that. The supply of high end lootables is already gone or belatedly locked down by police, but the demand to loot—as it has become abundantly clear that there is no penalty—is increasing. So more looters are increasingly targeting anything, including each other. The violence is now moving to suburbs, residential neighborhoods and third-tier cities and towns.

Civilians and authorities alike are still afraid of the new Arbery-Floyd precedent: that no white shall be suffered to harm a black under any circumstances lest you become the instant target of global outrage and retribution.

The long sought race war is scaling up.

The ball is increasingly in the white court: overturn the Arbery-Floyd Precedent or allow the pillaging to escalate?

“One man went strutting around with a bronze clock perched on his shoulder; another found a plume of ostrich feathers, which he stuck in his hat. The looting was just beginning when somebody cried, ‘Comrades! Don’t touch anything! Don’t take anything! This is the property of the People!’ Immediately twenty voices were crying, ‘Stop! Put everything back! Don’t take anything! Property of the People!’ Many hands dragged the spoilers down. Damask and tapestry were snatched from the arms of those who had them; two men took away the bronze clock. Roughly and hastily the things were crammed back in their cases, and self-appointed sentinels stood guard. It was all utterly spontaneous. Through corridors and up stair-cases the cry could be heard growing fainter and fainter in the distance, ‘Revolutionary discipline! Property of the People.’”

  38. The police AR-15/M4 assault rifle is the CAUSE of all this Urban Mayhem. You see, the difference between the riots during the 1960s and today is that back then, coppers didn’t think in terms of accurate, high capacity magazine Red Dot Scoped weapons.

The standard cop long gun in the car was a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Now they have gone over to the AR-15 collapsible stock weapon. The Urban managers appear to have told their riot fighters NOT to carry them. You can see that in videos in Chicago: no long guns for Mr. Cop. Don’t want a rioter being KIA with an AR.

Empty the police arsenals and get those 12-gauge shotguns on the streets. Tell the cops to bring their personal Remington 870s. Short-range pellets instead of long ranging 5.56mm bullets. Go to Cabela’s and get all their bird shot rounds. Now you have something you actually use and threaten to use. Put those weapons on the front line. Maybe even bayonets if you can mount them.

Shotguns backed by ARs. A real, HONEST TO GOD threat to rioters.

I don’t know whether the following applies to the police at all, but when I took a concealed carry course a few years back, the instructor warned us against firing to intimidate or wound rather than kill. While that sounds backward. if you admit to only trying to scare or wound your assailant, that can be used as proof that you did not feel your life was in danger, and thus acted illegally. You could find yourself up on assault charges for trying to avoid killing someone, in other words. The unspoken subtext was, if you shoot to wound, don’t ever admit it to the cops (and don’t talk to the cops in any detail without a lawyer present).

    They're not that cerebral, man.

It's much simpler than that.

A lot of people have been locked in their homes for quite some time. Think of that as laying down kindling for the riot.

Worse, a lot of those people have been subsisting off free government money during that time and really don’t want to go back to work.

I mean, why can’t they have some time with free money and freedom rather than just one or the other?

If they’re possible apart then they’re possible together. (These people can rationalise.)

In fact, to many, cutting off free money feels like forcing people to go to work. This leaves them highly aggrieved.

Also, Trump has been the subject of a globally administered 2 minute hate programme for years. Perhaps we were only supposed to vent and rage at the TV, but that’s a lot less fun and doesn’t give you free stuff.

I mean this only partly in jest, but one can imagine that he’ll be assassinated and will serve as the scapegoat for all of the roiling emotional tension in the world.

  51. Anonymous[186] • Disclaimer says:

Very strange rioting in Long Beach. Blacks were ethnically cleansed from there over a decade ago by Hispanic immigrants. Much like Compton, black neighborhoods are effectively gone. Eradicated by confrontational Mexicans, who had no history, and thereby no sense of shame regarding Black slavery, so they had no hesitation of confronting and beating the hell out of any neighborhood blacks that annoyed them. Mexicans were good at kicking black butts. It’s their secret “superpower.”

Blacks responded by moving to Lancaster, and other high sleepy desert communities, which led to impressive crime spikes there, as well as Victorville and Hesperia. Although longtime Long Beach citizens were unhappy with the illegal alien onslaught, none could deny the dramatic reduction in crime following “the great black exodus of Long Beach.” It allowed the Mayor to dramatically reduce police employment numbers. They even eliminated its robust gang unit. There currently is no gang unit.

So the protesters here were quite often fat white chicks, and their white beta male counterparts, some Hispanic immigrants who were not dangerous, and bored middle-aged gays and lesbians in sensible sandals. The black people were, more often than not, not from Long Beach.

Anecdote: I was driving in Long Beach, just before the curfew, and happened to drive by a family owned business. The large building was freshly painted, in preparation for sign painters. At the same time I was driving by, a group of seven “protesters” had stopped, all had spray paint, and began painting “fuck the police,” and all their other prescribed mottos. I thought better than to confront them, a drove on to the minimart.

When I returned, about 20 minutes later, the building had been completely tagged, almost at a professional level for tatters. The large area that was intended for the name of the building, instead said “fuck the police.” It was bright, bold, and well lettered. It was actually kind funny. Imagine a McDonald’s, but instead of “McDonakd’s” it said, “Fuck the Police.” I thought, “oh… the police aren’t going to like that.” And they didn’t. It was all painted over by 8 this morning.

Anyway, when I saw them, I thought, “these aren’t Long Beach blacks.” They were self-consciously urban looking. Kind of black hipster. As if they were from San Francisco. They weren’t poor hoodrats. Also, they were so off the beaten track when they tagged that place, they were wasting their time and paint. In that neighborhood, nobody would give a fuck about them. All that would happen would be the spray scribble would be painted over by the next morning, as it was. You’d have to not know Long Beach to think it was a good idea.

Overall, I noticed, certainly some Long Beach blacks running around, but also these faux hip blacks, as well as some hardcore ex-con-looking blacks who most certainly weren’t from Long Beach.

I think that’s why Long Beach got off extremely easily, managing the rioting with a relative police skeleton crew. Not enough blacks here to make a consensus. Their old neighborhoods from Rodney King days are effectively cleansed, without a peep from “black leaders” as it was happening. Most Mexicans don’t give a shit about black problems, and never will. The bussed in blacks were ineffective for the purposes of rioting properly. The fat lesbians, and other white Long Beach riff raff were home by midnight, and while they were around, they tried to shame the bussed in blacks, hampering their effect. The black rioters here were a relative few locals, some bussed in somehow, and some ex-cons who drove here.

Here’s an example of a local white beta male annoying an ex con not from Long Beach. Just shows how blacks were not in full control, because there just wasn’t enough of them to be in control, so they could be singled out and intimidated, at times. This shit didn’t happen during the Rodney King riots, I guarantee it:

  52. There some interesting shit out there that either Antifa doesn’t exist, or it is a ‘leaderless’ organization, or, if it does exist, it is only a force for good. We’ve seen over and over again that what scares the Powers That Be is true socialism. What clearly doesn’t bother them is liberalism or ‘anarchism’.

‘Anarchists’ are great as you can use them to create street violence against little people, crafted for whatever political purpose you like, while posing as opponents of the ‘system’, but while constituting absolutely no threat to that ‘system’. A little army of poor white urban trash people, who magically flit across the country wherever required though they don’t have any obvious source of income, is very useful. One thing you can do is hijack a legitimate political movement, with legitimate grievances, by adding that little bit of Antifa violence spice. Antifa looting, which real Black protesters tried to block (though, to be fair, there were also some real Black looting sprees), without success, turned a legitimate political protest into TV news filmed scenes of looting, for the enjoyment and political manipulation of Middle America.

But I suspect this is now more than the local teenagers looking for pot money. The problem for the Oakland types is that they have to drive to get here or take BART which closes at midnight or did pre-Covid. While larger, more middle class and less affluent than Alamo and Danville to the south and Lamorinda (Lafayette-Moraga-Orinda) to the west it is a pretty nice suburban city with some upscale stores and restaurants. There's also a goodly amount of office buildings.

Put everything back! Don't take anything! Property of the People.’"

It’s their secret "superpower."

Blacks responded by moving to Lancaster, and other high sleepy desert communities, which led to impressive crime spikes there, as well as Victorville and Hesperia. Although longtime Long Beach citizens were unhappy with the illegal alien onslaught, none could deny the dramatic reduction in crime following "the great black exodus of Long Beach." It allowed the Mayor to dramatically reduce police employment numbers.

At the same time I was driving by, a group of seven "protesters" had stopped, all had spray paint, and began painting "fuck the police," and all their other prescribed mottos. I thought better than to confront them, a drove on to the minimart.

When I returned, about 20 minutes later, the building had been completely tagged, almost at a professional level for tatters. The large area that was intended for the name of the building, instead said "fuck the police." It was bright, bold, and well lettered. It was actually kind funny. Imagine a McDonald's, but instead of "McDonakd's" it said, "Fuck the Police." I thought, "oh... the police aren’t going to like that." And they didn’t. It was all painted over by 8 this morning.

Anyway, when I saw them, I thought, "these aren’t Long Beach blacks." They were self-consciously urban looking.

Their old neighborhoods from Rodney King days are effectively cleansed, without a peep from "black leaders" as it was happening.

The police AR-15/M4 assault rifle is the CAUSE of all this Urban Mayhem. You see, the difference between the riots during the 1960s and today is that back then, coppers didn't think in terms of accurate, high capacity magazine Red Dot Scoped weapons.

The standard cop long gun in the car was a 12-gauge pump shotgun. Now they have gone over to the AR-15 collapsible stock weapon. The Urban managers appear to have told their riot fighters NOT to carry them. You can see that in videos in Chicago: no long guns for Mr. Cop. Don't want a rioter being KIA with an AR.

Empty the police arsenals and get those 12-gauge shotguns on the streets. Tell the cops to bring their personal Remington 870s. Short-range pellets instead of long ranging 5.56mm bullets. Go to Cabela's and get all their bird shot rounds. Now you have something you actually use and threaten to use. Put those weapons on the front line. Maybe even bayonets if you can mount them.

Shotguns backed by ARs. A real, HONEST TO GOD threat to rioters.

There has been a small wave of petty crimes in the East Bay such as mail box theft looking for stimulus checks and car break ins but it is all pretty minor stuff. But I suspect this is now more than the local teenagers looking for pot money. The problem for the Oakland types is that they have to drive to get here or take BART which closes at midnight or did pre-Covid. They stick out like nobody’s business and most people in the neighborhood are only too aware of who does what to whom. In fact that is a big reason why they live here instead of the more vibrant places, especially if they have children.

There are some very peculiar things about the blacks in these riots. For the most part, cities that are mainly poor black are not seeing riots. Blacks are poorer in the South, but the South isn’t rioting that much. Two Northern cities with more poor blacks than all the other Northern cities, namely Detroit Baltimore, aren’t seeing much in the way of action.

Blacks are mainly rioting in those cities that offer greater economic opportunities for blacks, and which have a larger black middle class.

The black looters in videos are driving good cars.

The black looters are savvy with social media, and they show careful pre- planning and coordination with friends and relatives to loot shops using these social networks. Middle-class people have a higher IQ than lower-class people, and they are capable of better planning and coordination than lower- class people. Poor people also have smaller social networks than middle-class people do.

The black looters are very familiar with the brands of material goods that whites value, and have targeted these brands for looting. These are blacks who have had a lot of contact with whites and white culture.

Do remember the three black Oberlin college students who robbed that bakery? The looters in these riots are exactly like them. The looters in these riots are coming from the black middle- class.

Their parents rose out of the hood and are first generation middle-class. But they didn’t get there on their own efforts. They got there because they were practically dragged out of the hood by determined social justice warriors who wanted to create a black middle class. The parents of these looters have plenty of relatives back in the hood who are still criminals.

But the most important point is, the parents of the looters did not get where they are naturally. They did not climb their own way up because of hard work and responsible behavior. They do not have the classic Protestant middle-class work ethic that created the white Protestant middle-class. They believe everyone owes them everything just because. They still think like their ghetto criminal relatives. They do not care about right and wrong. They have no sense of personal responsibility. Their whole attitude is gimme stuff.

Either through behavior or genetics, their kids think exactly like them.

I think psychologically when looting a store happens you just tend to accept the legitimacy of somebody having ownership of something when they pick it up (It's what the looter themselves thinks when they pick something up) and leave. So that is just mugging really.

But I suppose if somebody is carting off a little more than they can carry it invites a sense that they've taken things a bit too far and one is justified in trying to skim some of it off them.

    Replies: @Jane Plain

Well, yeah. Even among these baboons, there’s a sense of ownership.

    But what about territoriality?

The most primally shocking thing about these riots is how many of them took place in the nicer parts of town. It’s my impression that the first two days in Minnie, the rioters mainly burned down their own neighborhood.

But later the destruction was taken to “our” neighborhoods.

They crossed a line and there’s no going back.

No. Near Detroit they will run into stores and just grab armloads of coats or boots and run out to the car past the security asking them to stop. Drive back to the D and exchange the haul at small food, booze and lotto stores (called 'party stores') for booze or lotto money. The store then places it on sale or sells it to barber or hair weave shops to sell*

*barbers and hair weave places usually have a small for sale section of food so the customers can scam pay for the services with their food stamp card and their girlfriend's children's WIC card.

While larger, more middle class and less affluent than Alamo and Danville to the south and Lamorinda (Lafayette-Moraga-Orinda) to the west it is a pretty nice suburban city with some upscale stores and restaurants. There’s also a goodly amount of office buildings.

Their old neighborhoods from Rodney King days are effectively cleansed, without a peep from "black leaders" as it was happening.

Billie Jean King came from Long Beach. Her parents were white Protestants from somewhere in Middle America. Staunch conservatives.

Pardon me but what does this mean?

Tagging I can figure out from context, but what is a “tatter”? Did you mean to type “tagger”?

"targeting fashion goods, such as shoes, where size and style are very personal questions?"

    They're not that cerebral, man.

It's much simpler than that.

There has been a small wave of petty crimes in the East Bay such as mail box theft looking for stimulus checks and car break ins but it is all pretty minor stuff. But I suspect this is now more than the local teenagers looking for pot money. The problem for the Oakland types is that they have to drive to get here or take BART which closes at midnight or did pre-Covid. They stick out like nobody's business and most people in the neighborhood are only too aware of who does what to whom. In fact that is a big reason why they live here instead of the more vibrant places, especially if they have children.

Professor, I share your perspective on BART, it’s a shame we can’t have nice things. Not being terribly linguistically creative I refer to BART as being the Black American Reparation Terrorists most efficient (as they find it toll optional) mode of transportation when venturing out seeking softer targets, though the Escalade seems more favored:
