America needs a “1618 Project” to educate naive Americans about the numerous connections between African-American behavioral tendencies in 2020 and the sub-Saharan environments and cultures in which their ancestors evolved over the previous 70,000 years.

  1. America needs a “1618 Project” to educate naive Americans about the numerous connections between African-American behavioral tendencies in 2020 and the sub-Saharan environments and cultures in which their ancestors evolved over the previous 70,000 years.

I can think of a mess of other things you might do that would be more to the point.

  2. That’s the thing: society has changed so much recently that it’s NOBODY’S traditional culture.

Slavery ended before the lightbulb was invented when the vast majority of people of every color and in every country in the northern hemisphere were small farmers of some form or another.

None of us were particularly evolved to serve burgers at Mc Donald’s, stock boxes at Target or argue with our tribe-mates about whether to use Scrum or Kanban while developing the next mobile ad delivery optimization platform.

This, imho, is the operational point.

Otto Koenig used to say we are 10,000 generations of paleolithic and 200 generations since then - so what did we expect?
To put that into perspective, 200 generations translates to a 0.1% selective advantage becoming dominant ... but the environment is changing progressively faster, much too fast for the quasispecies to adapt.
All the more interesting is how superior the Bantu model has proven to be; and how simple it is:
    Fast-twitch muscles, small brains with even smaller frontal lobes, "warrior gene"(functional MAOA receptor polymorphism);
rape, massacre, roast; loot; destroy anything you cannot rape or steal lest it be of use to others.

And that´s it. From a detached POV I marvel at its Borg-like (no insult to the Borg intended) perfection and simplicity ... but I cannot think of a counterstrategy

  3. Maybe you should send Arthur Sulzberger an e-mail, Steve. I’m sure the New York Times will get right on that.

Maybe they’ll assign it to Bari Weiss?

  4. Movie idea: 1618, starring Will Smith, is National Treasure-meets-Xfiles: Fight the Future-meets-Stargate. Synopsis: the Underground Railroad was actually a teleporter to Egypt. Culminates in flying the Pyramid of Giza to destroy Yakub’s moon base.

I’ll do the screenplay for a paltry $800,000 USD.

Here’s the Nation of Islam backstory:

The story of Yakub originated in the writings of Wallace Fard Muhammad, the founder of the Nation of Islam, in his doctrinal Q&A pamphlet Lost Found Moslem Lesson No. 2.[2] It was developed by his successor Elijah Muhammad in several writings, most fully in a chapter entitled "The Making of Devil" in his book Message to the Blackman in America.

Yakub is said to have been born in Mecca at a time when 30% of original black people were "dissatisfied".[4] He was a member of the Meccan branch of the Tribe of Shabazz. Yakub acquired the nickname "big head", because of his unusually large head and his arrogance. At the age of six, he discovered the law of attraction and repulsion by playing with magnets made of steel.[5] This insight led to a plan to create new people. He "saw an unlike human being, made to attract others, who could, with the knowledge of tricks and lies, rule the original black man."[5] By the age of 18, he had exhausted all knowledge in the universities of Mecca. He then discovered that the "original black man" contained both a "black germ" and a "brown germ". With 59,999 followers, he went to an "isle in the Aegean Sea called Pelan", which Muhammad identifies with Patmos. Once there, he established a despotic regime and set about breeding out the black traits, killed all darker babies, and created a brown race after 200 years. Yakub died at the age of 152, but his followers carried on his work. After 600 years of this deliberate eugenics, the white race was created.[6] The brutal conditions of their creation determined the evil nature of the new race: "by lying to the black mother of the baby, this lie was born into the very nature of the white baby; and, murder for the black people was also born in them—or made by nature a liar and murderer".[3]

  5. More Africans have migrated to the USA in any recent ten-year period of their own free will than were transported here over the entire 200 years of the slave trade. That’s how bad it is here for Africans–we simply can’t keep them from flocking here. And this is just counting legal migrants. Whatever racism actually is, it’s proving impossible to prevent Africans from being attracted to it. They simply can’t get enough.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/21/nyregion/more-africans-enter-us-than-in-days-of-slavery.html

African migration has ramped up considerably since that article was published.

It should be called 1619 B.C.

Slavery is wrong by modern morality, but it made blacks productive in American history. It imbued them with family values and work ethic. Though some families were separated by selling of slaves, most masters sought to keep black families together.

Without slavery under whites, blacks would have no moral legitimacy. This doesn’t justify slavery, but blacks owe much to slavery under whites on their path to civilization… which came to a halt when they found freedom. Since then, blacks have been leading all human races in the reversion to savagery. Look how ‘twerking’ has gone global.

    This is British culture now.

The bantu model is to be hauled around the world as cargo. Unlike Europeans, they did not travel as explorers.

Bantus are found throughout the new world because they were carried there as cargo by Europeans. They are found throughout North Africa and much of the middle East because they were carried there as cargo by the Arabs.

Their ancestors suffered, but today's bantus are now found throughout the world because of the fact their ancestors were carried there.

Even today they are spreading to Europe because Europeans are transporting them there.

    Really? Then why didn’t you?

Jane, I never had the opportunity to pick my own cotton, nor did my immigrant (Dutch, German. Irish) antecedents. Best info indicates they all arrived in the 1870s, and lived exclusively in north and midwest states, having likely no contact at all with black Americans until they were well into working class middle age. Rest assured, though, that if we had been here in 1619 or so, and knew about people in general, and the ways most black people are prone to be behaviorally different from white people, that we would have indeed forbade their importation, and picked our own cotton. We probably have used white slaves, and called them indentured servants. Production might have been lower, hard to tell.

How about you? Would you have picked yur own cotton?
  35. America needs a “1618 Project” to educate naive Americans about the numerous connections between African-American behavioral tendencies in 2020 and the sub-Saharan environments and cultures in which their ancestors evolved over the previous 70,000 years.

    HOW DARE YOU!?

The Genoese rediscovered the Canary Islands, with their isolated Berber Guanche inhabitants, in 1312. That probably ought to be the opening of the Age of Exploration. The Castilians began their conquest of the Guanche, a Caucasian people, in 1402.

Prince Henry the Navigator of Portugal started his exploration effort around 1415.

Prince Henry the Navigator learned navigation from his English mother, who learned it from Geoffrey Chaucer. It pays to have connections.
