From the Washington Post:

A New Zealand chapter of Greta Thunberg-linked climate movement disbands itself for being ‘racist’

By Michael E. Miller
June 15, 2021 at 2:14 a.m. PDT

In September 2019, the streets of Auckland, New Zealand, were a sea of protesters. Across the globe, several million people were marching as part of the “School Strike 4 Climate” youth movement sparked by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg. But few demonstrations were more sweeping than the one in New Zealand’s largest city, where up to 80,000 marchers filled the streets.

Less than two years later, however, one of the groups that organized the Auckland event is disbanding because of what it says is its own racism.

In a Facebook post, School Strike 4 Climate’s Auckland chapter said it was shutting down because it “has been a racist, white-dominated space.” It directed people concerned about climate change to Indigenous-led groups and said it would not be organizing any more climate strikes.

“SS4C AKL has avoided, ignored, and tokenised BIPOC voices and demands, especially those of Pasifika and Māori individuals in the climate activism space,” it wrote. BIPOC is the acronym for Black, Indigenous and people of color, while Pasifika refers to people who identify with the Pacific islands. …

The announcement comes at a time of increased scrutiny on how ethnic minorities are treated within the climate activist movement. There was outrage last year when Ugandan environmentalist Vanessa Nakate was cropped out of a viral Associated Press photograph that also featured Thunberg and three other White activists. Worldwide protests against racial injustice after the death of George Floyd have deepened the debate.

In New Zealand, there have been growing calls to place people of color — who are disproportionately affected by climate change — at the center of the environmental movement.

“I really commend the School Strikers in Auckland for making this decision,” said Kera Sherwood-O’Regan of Sustained Ability, a group of disabled climate activists. “… There are many other youth- and non-youth-related organizations in the climate space that could benefit from similar conversations.”

It’s really important that climate change activists appeal most to the least influential in society, that’s how you drive top-down change. Because if there was one thing standing in the way of climate change policy in New Zealand it was the damned Maori and Samoans! You might have thought it was large powerful and influential economic interests but actually it was disenfranchised Maori.

It would be great if a busload of Maori arrived the morning after the press announcement of their self-cancellation and, with media in tow, declared to the self-cancelled progressives busy cleaning out the offices their willingness to step in and take the reins of their critical climate change efforts. You'd see a roomful of progressives in stunned disbelief which would quickly turn into alarm--even anger.

The head progressive, a beet-red Caucasian female or beta male, would be standing there, stammering, with her donor-paid laptop and halfway out the door on their way to their new gig and the real reason they self-cancelled, and nowhere near honest enough to explain to the marginalized arrivals that the press announcement, unfortunately, was just routine virtue-signaling, not meant to be taken seriously and certainly not to be taken seriously by the ethnic minorities in whose name they labored.Very sorry for the inconvenience.

"It’s really important that climate change activists appeal most to the least influential in society, that’s how you drive top-down change. "

Or the real intent behind Climate Change is to never allow any real change that would affect the plutocracy governing all nations and owning all major corporations.

The only change that will ever be allowed, is change that would affect the Proles alone.

We just entered a grand solar minimum. There is an article at Americanthinker.com about this. Dr Valentina Zharkova of Northumbria University said it should last until 2053. The sun’s magnetic field will shrink, which will allow for earths atmosphere to be bombarded by more cosmic matter, which will create aerosols thus increasing condensation nuclei and wator vapor. This means more clouds. We have these minimums about every 400 years. The last was the Maunder Minimum. She said the years 2028-2036 will be the worst of it. The summers will still be warm, but the falls will be earlier and the springs later. It will mean a growing season will end earlier and start later every year. The winters will be cold. There will be more cloud cover. The change wont be very noticeable until about 2025-6. This woman is a serious scientist. The last GSM coincided with increased volcanic activity, so we have a few more eruptions, tsunamis, and avalanches to look forward to.

Meh. I'll believe it when i see it.

We've just got going with cycle 25. The minimum was the 2019-2020 winter and indeed it was colder. But the climb out in sunspot activity this year looks pretty normal from what i can see.

People keep wishing there would be some sort of Deus Ex Machina to save us from minoritarianism/wokeism/globohomo and restore force the restoration of something more like the natural order.

    Not going to happen.

The future of America is indeed grim, but just a slow slump into Brazil style mediocrity in contrast to whatever nations of competent people see off minoritarianism and feminism and keep their nation more or less intact. (Right now that seems to be China.)

Neither "climate change", nor meteor impact, nor alien invasion is going to step in and save us.

  20. I just looked it up and New Zealand is about 75% European. White people dominate the group because white people dominate New Zealand.

I think maybe the white kids wanted to bail or the nonwhites wanted to take over the group and the white kids agreed to leave.

I doubt this little group will even exist in a few years. School kids aren’t school kids for long. New Zealand only has 5 million people. I get the impression there’s a lot of little environmental groups there. They’d probably be wise to consolidate some of them.

    • Replies: @photondancer

Yep, my immediate reaction was that the kids grew bored and wanted to disband anyway. Real activism, the kind that changes people's minds, is hard work. This is probably a virtue signalling cover-your-arse excuse for giving up.

I could puzzle over just how climate change is supposed to affect the Maori more than any other denizen of New Zealand but I don't expect this kind of person to make any sense.

The only change that will ever be allowed, is change that would affect the Proles alone.

Marx made more arguments for why it was always too early for the Revolution, than he did for the Revolution. Marx was a scion of a wealthy family and was married to a Rothschild, but he knew what was best for the Proletariat.

I just looked it up and New Zealand is about 75% European. White people dominate the group because white people dominate New Zealand.

I think maybe the white kids wanted to bail or the nonwhites wanted to take over the group and the white kids agreed to leave.

I doubt this little group will even exist in a few years. School kids aren't school kids for long. New Zealand only has 5 million people. I get the impression there's a lot of little environmental groups there. They'd probably be wise to consolidate some of them.

Yep, my immediate reaction was that the kids grew bored and wanted to disband anyway. Real activism, the kind that changes people’s minds, is hard work. This is probably a virtue signalling cover-your-arse excuse for giving up.

I could puzzle over just how climate change is supposed to affect the Maori more than any other denizen of New Zealand but I don’t expect this kind of person to make any sense.

We just entered a grand solar minimum. There is an article at Americanthinker.com about this. Dr Valentina Zharkova of Northumbria University said it should last until 2053.

If we want something other than being a balkanized Brazilian basket case--just a massive marketplace for middle man minority looting--then we're going to have to fight for it.
