In my 2008 book America’s Half-Blood Prince: Barack Obama’s ‘Story of Race and Inheritance,’ I forecasted that if elected the candidate would keep his racial resentments under wraps during his first term. But once freed from the need for re-election, watch out.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Homicides Rose in Most Big Cities This Year
Sixteen of the 20 largest police department saw a year-over-year increase

By SCOTT CALVERT and SHIBANI MAHTANI
Dec. 22, 2016 5:30 a.m. ET

Homicides rose in most big American cities in 2016, continuing a worrisome trend for police and criminologists that began last year, even as murder rates in most cities are nowhere near the levels of two decades ago.

Sixteen of the 20 largest police departments reported a year-over-year rise in homicides as of mid-December, a Wall Street Journal survey found. Some notched minor increases, while Chicago has experienced one of the most dramatic jumps, with more than 720 murders—up 56% from 2015. …

Nationally, 37 of the 65 largest police agencies, including ones in San Antonio, Las Vegas and Memphis, Tenn., reported year-over-year homicide increases as of Sept. 30, the Major Cities Chiefs Association said. In 2015, 44 departments reported increases, many for the first time in years.

Homicide rates should be falling steadily, perhaps 5% per year, due to improved medical care and due to the proliferation of video cameras making it harder to get away with crimes.

Chicago and a handful of cities accounted for much of the overall 10% increase in homicides across the 65 communities, he said. Rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults and non-fatal shootings were also up at the end of September, the association’s survey found.

San Antonio had the highest percentage increase as of mid-December, the Journal’s survey found. Its 144 homicides amount to a 60% increase from 2015. Of the four cities recording drops in 2016, three—Baltimore, Milwaukee and Washington, D.C.—had homicide upswings in 2015 that topped 50%. The other, New York, had a small increase in 2015 and a 5% decrease in homicides this year through mid-December, and is more broadly experiencing historic lows in violent crime.

In some cities, violent crime increased in the wake of deadly police confrontations with young black men. For example, murders and nonfatal shootings skyrocketed in Baltimore after the April 2015 death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray sparked rioting and prompted prosecutors to bring criminal charges against six officers.

In Chicago, too, the big increase in homicides has come since the release, in November 2015, of a video from a year earlier showing a white officer killing a black 17-year-old in a hail of 16 bullets. The Chicago department is under investigation by the U.S. Justice Department, which earlier this year found the Baltimore Police Department routinely engages in a range of unconstitutional policing practices.

Thanks, Obama Justice Department, a heckuva job you’re doing!

The three biggest declines in 2016 — Milwaukee, Baltimore, and DC are just regression partway toward the mean after horrific increases in murder rates in 2015. Baltimore and Milwaukee are less homicidal in 2016 because they had huge Black Lives Matter upheavals during 2015 that caused spikes in their 2015 homicide rates. Washington DC’s 2015 spike might have be a spillover from Baltimore?

New York had a brief spike in homicides in early 2015 after a BLM terrorist assassinated two NYPD officers in December 2014. But the NYPD’s soft mutiny successfully humiliated the progressive Mayor, so the NYPD went back to work with their customary effectiveness and things have been pretty stable in New York for about 22 months now.

Some experts attribute the rise to the widely debated view that violent-crime increases are tied to the civil unrest that roiled numerous cities after police killings of young black men, starting with such an incident in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014. The main version of the theory holds that many officers have shied away from confrontation, emboldening criminals. Another posits that growing distrust of police among minority residents has made people less willing to come forward as witnesses and more inclined to resolve disputes themselves.

“I don’t think anyone knows which of those may be operating, or whether a combination is operating,” said Richard Rosenfeld, a criminology professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. “Anecdotally, I think Chicago is a good example of a city in which both may be operating.”

One concern from this new graph is whether some bad trend is going on in Hispanic cities, such as San Antonio and Phoenix. Or it could just be small sample sizes of murders in Latino cities.

One extraordinarily overlooked topic in explaining the election result is the complete failure of Obama and Clinton’s plan to turn out the black base using BLM in both 2014 and 2016, and how much it irritated other races. And how many people it’s gotten murdered. Oh for Three:

1. Black voters: Unenthused over being asked to vote for Michael Brown in 2014/16 in contrast to having a chance to express racial pride by voting for Barack Obama in 2008/12.

2. Nonblack voters: Not happy about Democrats pandering to the kind of blacks who would vote over Michael Brown.

3. Hundreds of incremental black people: Couldn’t vote because they got murdered in the BLM-caused crime wave.

It's true but then it wouldn't riff on JK Rowling's sixth book.

Also, being a bastard and being nobility are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

And since being a "clean, articulate" Negro (Harry Reid's description) is pretty much the height of nobility in The Current Year, Obama is both.

Yes, that would be true, Obama is a half breed bastard. But Barack has been a good husband and father and his daughters are not bastards and are more, very Black African American in good ways.

I do give Barack and Michele Obama credit for being good parents.

Lena Dunham: ‘I Still Haven’t Had an Abortion, but I Wish I Had’
…“One day, when I was visiting a Planned Parenthood in Texas a few years ago, a young girl walked up to me and asked me if I’d like to be a part of her project in which women share their stories of abortions,” she recalled. “I sort of jumped. ‘I haven’t had an abortion,’ I told her. I wanted to make it really clear to her that as much as I was going out and fighting for other women’s options, I myself had never had an abortion. And I realized then that even I was carrying within myself stigma around this issue. Even I, the woman who cares as much as anybody about a woman’s right to choose, felt it was important that people know I was unblemished in this department.”

I hate and distrust obama and his Wookie wife, and disapprove of his policies and his character.

But his pardons can have no appreciable effect on crime even in one large state, let alone the country. There simply aren't enough pardons, even if for some reason you think there were too many.

Also, let's be honest. Obama has primarily pardoned or reduced the sentences of people who committed nonviolent drug "crimes", not murder, manslaughter, rape, burglary, robbery, assault, etc. A quick cursory review shows a few mail fraud, possession of stolen mail, and the like.

I wouldn't doubt that his pardons have intentionally favored Africans or nonwhites disproportionately, and they shouldn't, but that's about it.

In DC, after 8 years Police Chief Cathy Lanier stepped down in September 2016. She struck a good balance between aggressive policing and community PR. Several years ago she turned the violent Trinidad neighborhood into a de facto gated community until it was declared unconstitutional. And many of the post-BLM police “reforms” had already been put in place in DC due to earlier episodes.

A significant portion of the violence in DC comes from those using synthetic cannaboids (K2/Spice). Users are almost exclusively black. The drugs are cheap, they get you high, and they don’t show up on drug tests. The effects are closer to PCP than marijuana (see YouTube).

Over the course of 2015, DC cracked down hard on its use: legislation was passed allowing police to shut down or fine stores that sell it, street dealers were put in jail (mostly just overnight), and millions of dollars worth–over half a ton–was confiscated.

It’s still available on the streets. “Zombies” are still a large portion of ambulance calls and ER admissions in DC. But its use appears to have trended downward somewhat.

Synthetic weed is popular in Baltimore too, but I believe its criminal influence there has been less. It’s more of a substitute good there, and the background rate of criminality is high enough to absorb it.

They still talk about The Great Yaz there, who helped get Boston the pennant in ’67 and ’75.

Perhaps they voted for Trump in Suffolk because they were much harder hit by MS13 than were the bambinos of Nassau. The way things are going, each and everyone of us is sure to rate a turn in the Third-World barrel.

I wanted to make it really clear to her that as much as I was going out and fighting for other women’s options, I myself had never had an abortion. And I realized then that even I was carrying within myself stigma around this issue. Car theft has been almost totally defeated by chipped keys, unfortunately meaning it's falling hardest on working poor who drive 20-year-old Hondas. As for armed robberies, all my evidence is anecdotal (I'm strictly a street cop, not much statistics in my job). But it seems that the exact same lack of "future time orientation" that hobbles some demographics in school doesn't help them in crime. But I guess you'd be correct if a bonehead who'd normally do a dozen robs instead only gets to do three before he gets popped. If we're being honest, it's something of a myth that locked up drug offenders are nonviolent. In the ghetto's "Snitches Get Stitches" culture, corralling witnesses to stick with a prosecution through to conclusion and then face the offender when he is inevitably released (e.g., by an Obama pardon) is extremely difficult. Given an offender with a diverse rap sheet, prosecutors prefer to prosecute on the drug charges because it uses objective physical evidence, saving time and money. And since most ghetto crime involves both violence and drugs, drug crime evidence is plentiful.

Similarly, don't count on those "possessing stolen mail" etc. convicts to be upstanding citizens once they are released. The stolen mail was just the physical evidence that allowed the prosecution to complete the case of someone the police had likely been following for a long time.

I wish there was a way of quantifying this. The combination of one-time stringent drug offence sentencing (i.e. it was apparently good enough to convict them of that) with future amnesties is worrisome.
    , @Just some cop
    @Almost Missouri

+1 this. The "non-violent drug offender" thing is really slippery.

For one thing, drugs power most property crime, which is how most of our lives are impacted by crime (and, at the risk of sounding like an SJW type, in a certain way burglary is a violent crime; normal victims of it, especially chicks, are profoundly affected by the perceived loss of safety).

The other thing is that you're absolutely correct, what they were convicted of and what they did are very different things. A federal "simple possession" conviction might have started out as six ounces of cocaine, a bunch of baggies, a scale, and a kind of shitty search by a cop. After an hour of pretrial motions with the cop trying to bend the word "consent" around a bit, the two sides cut a deal and, Bam, simple possession. The "user caught with a dime bag and sent to federal prison for life" is a Lifetime movie.

While it's true that most users are far more pathetic than menacing, the same isn't true of dealers. So if most of the users you're releasing are actually dealers who pled out, things may not go according to plan.

And when a cop hears "stolen mail" they hear "methamphetamine". No kidding, the two are virtually synonymous.

If we’re being honest, it’s something of a myth that locked up drug offenders are nonviolent.

I wish there was a way of quantifying this. The combination of one-time stringent drug offence sentencing (i.e. it was apparently good enough to convict them of that) with future amnesties is worrisome.

+1 this. The “non-violent drug offender” thing is really slippery.

For one thing, drugs power most property crime, which is how most of our lives are impacted by crime (and, at the risk of sounding like an SJW type, in a certain way burglary is a violent crime; normal victims of it, especially chicks, are profoundly affected by the perceived loss of safety).

The other thing is that you’re absolutely correct, what they were convicted of and what they did are very different things. A federal “simple possession” conviction might have started out as six ounces of cocaine, a bunch of baggies, a scale, and a kind of shitty search by a cop. After an hour of pretrial motions with the cop trying to bend the word “consent” around a bit, the two sides cut a deal and, Bam, simple possession. The “user caught with a dime bag and sent to federal prison for life” is a Lifetime movie.

While it’s true that most users are far more pathetic than menacing, the same isn’t true of dealers. So if most of the users you’re releasing are actually dealers who pled out, things may not go according to plan.

And when a cop hears “stolen mail” they hear “methamphetamine”. No kidding, the two are virtually synonymous.

    That's interesting. Why that connection?

My impression is that meth is more a rural/white thing than other drugs. I'm guessing that stealing from the gun-free-zone Post Office is safer than stealing from a probably armed homeowner?

Yeah, but for toilets to work, you need plumbing and sewage. And for plumbing and sewage to work, you need infrastructure, town planning, civil engineering, and a basic grasp of Newtonian physics. And for those things to work you need a scientific outlook based on a non-superstitious cosmology, a non-inbred population unencumbered by a 10,000 year caste system, and ...

Well, masks and costumes are just the easier option.

    Replies: @Kyle McKenna

And for all of these things, and more, you need a people with more sense than to manufacture two billion of themselves, which would strain any land, not to mention most planets.

Two billion includes the countless millions they’ve inflicted upon other lands, most definitely including ours.

Incidentally, I’ve lived in NYC and been treated to the sight of our fine minority-type people defecating in the streets, so the ready availability of modern plumbing is not likely the issue. Though, truth to tell, they were negroes doing this, so perhaps yet another theory is in order.

You know, like some cheesy Buddhist, all I know is that I don't know much (and less every day). I know a lot about policing in my tiny slice of a medium sized city, not much about bigger trends and the like. I suppose if I ever promoted to the point where I knew that stuff, I'd become a compulsive liar, too.

Incidently, though, that's an important point about my job that I don't think is widely understood. You don't get to be a police chief by doing a bunch of police work. You've got to promote fast and early, or at least go to special units, where the politics start. At least on the west coast where I am, you'd be shocked how little top down control there is for a street cop like me. If I don't feel something is legally justified, I don't do it. As long as I haven't broken policy, the chief can't do a hell of a lot to me. I still pick my battles (I've patrolled some mosques, watching out for marauding F350s filled with deplorables), but I wasn't kidding when I said I'm the kind of cop to hope for when Hillary Clinton puts out a warrant for you in 2021.

Anyhow, I do think I have something valuable to write, but it's a personal history of how a decade or so of police work turned a good, right thinking moderate liberal into a full on thought criminal. But what's the point of writing it? The only people who could learn anything from it would never read it, except at my trial.

“like some cheesy Buddhist, all I know is that I don’t know much”

The I-know-I-know-nothing idea is usually attributed to Socrates, who, as leading candidate for the founder of Western Civilization, definitely is not cheesy. (Though seeing what we’ve done with that Civilization … never mind.)

“You don’t get to be a police chief by doing a bunch of police work. You’ve got to promote fast and early, or at least go to special units, where the politics start.”

I’m guessing the “special units” are not, say, the SWAT team, but rather, say, the white collar crime unit where you spend a lot of time with prosecutors and politicians, or maybe the Internal Division, or whatever they call the police who police other police?

“The only people who could learn anything from it would never read it, except at my trial.”

Tragedic poetry. An epitaph for Western Civilization.

Though, Just some cop, I would point out that people here seem to read it, and to learn something from it…

I do give Barack and Michele Obama credit for being good parents.
