No, not me, Willie Brown dated Kamasutra Harris. From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Sure, I dated Kamala Harris. So what?

by Willie Brown Jan. 26, 2019

I’ve been peppered with calls from the national media about my “relationship” with Kamala Harris …

Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker.

And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco. I have also helped the careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and a host of other politicians.

The difference is that Harris is the only one who, after I helped her, sent word that I would be indicted if I “so much as jaywalked” while she was D.A.

If that’s the difference, I think Speaker Pelosi, Senator Feinstein, and, especially, Governor Newsom have some explaining to do.

Pepe the Mayor

The Chronicle goes on to explain:

Two-term mayor of San Francisco, renowned speaker of the California Assembly, and widely regarded as the most influential African American politician of the late twentieth century, Willie L. Brown, Jr. has been at the center of California politics, government and civic life for four decades. His career spans the American presidency from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush, and he’s worked with every California governor from Pat Brown to Arnold Schwarzenegger. From civil rights to education reform, tax policy, economic development, health care, international trade, domestic partnerships and affirmative action, he’s left his imprimatur on every aspect of politics and public policy in the Golden State. As mayor of California’s most cosmopolitan city, he refurbished and rebuilt the nation’s busiest transit system, pioneered the use of bond measures to build affordable housing, created a model juvenile justice system, and paved the way for a second campus of UCSF to serve as the anchor of a new development that will position the city as a center for the burgeoning field of biotechnology.

Today, he heads the Willie L. Brown Jr. Institute on Politics and Public Service, where he shares his knowledge and skills with a new generation of California leaders.

Usually unmentioned in tributes to Willie Brown is his alliance with the Rev. Jim Jones in 1970s San Francisco in the years leading up to the 1978 murders and suicides of 919 people at Jonestown. This may have put a crimp in Brown’s otherwise sterling career, dooming him to never represent anything larger than San Francisco, where people didn’t ask unkind questions about politicians’ buddying up with the maniacal cult leader. In San Francisco, it was understood that everybody — Willie, the sainted martyrs Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk, everybody — did favors for Jim Jones. If you weren’t there, you wouldn’t understand: it was a 1970s San Francisco Thing.

Anyway, other than helping out a future mass murdering cult leader, Brown made relatively few missteps in his long career. I’ve given Senator Harris a lot of grief over the years about how she got her start in politics, but but I suspect that the practical advice she has gotten from Mr. Brown has done her career a lot of good and, if she takes it to heart, will make her a more formidable candidate in 2020.

Mr. Sailer just has a big interest in Hollywood, Hollywood people, golf, golf people, etc. Those are not things I'm interested in, but I still get something out of those posts anyway.

It's the way my Dad taught me, but I have no particular respect for anyone who's famous, other than for the job he does, whether acting entertainingly in a movie, being a great guitarist, or being good at baseball. I couldn't give a damn who these people hang out with, what high schools they went to, and whether they're alive or dead, when it comes down to it. On the average, they are no better or worse than anybody else.

The politicians are another story. They are, on the average, much worse than everybody else. I don't mind getting the scoop on the scum like Willie Brown, even as our blogger gives them more respect than they deserve (just to keep the blog civil, I'm sure).

It's Steve's blog, and he can insert his interests in the posts whenever he wants. However, if he is now Stephanie, then I want my money back.

  5. One of the things missing from the whole Harvey Weinstein / me-too brouhaha were the many women who benefited because they willingly went along with or sought out trading sex for favors. That is true in general. It is always assumed that women are the ‘victims’ but upon closer examination it is frequently hard to figure out who is really exploiting whom. Kamala Harris fits perfectly into that spot. It would be very helpful for someone to call her out on that seeing that she is half the problem, and it is even more the case seeing that she is constantly bellyaching about sexism.

It is always assumed that women are the ‘victims’ but upon closer examination it is frequently hard to figure out who is really exploiting whom

The pat answer is that men are exploiters because they are "powerful." Sure. These men have the "power" to advance a career, but the women have the equal "power" of sexual attraction. So it's the world's oldest voluntary quid pro quo transaction.

If there is a victim in the situation it's not the prost . . . I mean, actress, trading sex for parts. It would be the hypothetically more talented, but less attractive (or more moral) actress who would have otherwise gotten the part without putting out.

But the key to being a leftist moral scourge is that you get to ignore people's voluntary choices and actions and instead define them as "victim" or "oppressor" as you see fit.

On the surface, Harris appears to be the more aggressive. But there’s not much substance to her questions - she has a bag of gimmicks. “Yes or no? yes or no? Yes or no? That’s not my question. Yes or no?”. When she feels sleighted, she assigns the nominee a homework assignment to “restore” her status. The “Did you or did you not have a conversation with someone who may or may not have worked at one time for” trap was hollow and desperate. Kavanaugh probably inwardly was smirking - knowing the exchange was being earmarked for her future campaign reel. Maybe sad too, seeing before him the rotted fruit of our abused democracy’s decay. And that shrill opener 12 seconds into the proceeding, “Mr. Chairman. Mr. Chairman. Mr. Chaaaaaiiiiirman.” Harris loves power and will have no problem abusing it once she’s an untouchable.

Hirono has her own brand of obnoxious that’s consistent. She’s nobody’s fool though. Her questioning of Barr was skillful, and not just for show.

  10. Anyway, other than helping out a future mass murdering cult leader

    Further thoughts:

Assuming that the imputation that Kamala is (relatively) clean – I’m thinking of the notion, probably true, that old hands like Emil Jones tried to keep Obama out of the mire of Chicago politics so there would be no scandals to impede his ascension to higher office – assuming that the imputation that Brown ensured the same for Harris has actually been made, rather than imagined by me, I wonder: is it true?

If it is, and if Willie Brown is as smart as Steve says, then “so much as jaywalked” might be a quote from an actual letter. Now that’s politicking.

It's NOT "as YOU see fit" - there is a definite pre-existing hierarchy or diversity totem pole on which all parties sit so the identity of "oppressor" vs. "victim" in any interaction is predetermined regardless of the parties' actions (so that their actions are irrelevant - the woman can write gushing notes the next day and the male is STILL guilty). Of course the really tough situations are those that involve parties who both possess a lot of victim Pokemon points - black rapper vs. trans-female rape accuser, etc. Such close cases are much harder to judge than no-brainers such as Harvey Weinstein being accused by a Latina.

    Bellamy, indeed!

The left is already well along in shaping their alternative reality. Denial of biology, disinterest in facts, refusal to interpret videos in a rational way, climate crisis. The list is appended to as needed because their reality is evolving faster than ever. And since current reality can’t exist in a vacuum, it means that history must be re-written as well. Monuments must be torn down, history explained in terms of the current reality using newspeak terminology.

Then along came an authentic Millenial!

Though it may be too early to tell yet, O-C may be more of a "flavor of the month",garden variety political fence-climber who will flame out when the gaffes become too much for her handlers to deal with. In the meantime, looks like either she read "The Prince" or at least the CliffNotes version, because she has already fed a major half-lie to her wide-eyed followers with the the 70% tax rate on Corporate America bit. What she DIDN'T say--and she knows it because she studied Eco 101 in college--is that corporations don't pay taxes. They either pass the increases on to the public as a part of doing business , or what they can't pass on, they'll drop through the sundry loopholes that always mysteriously seem to open up when corporations are hit with big tax increases. Or, when push comes to shove, they'll leave the country entirely. In the end it's at minimum a zero-sum game but her constituents are evidently too dumb to figure out that they're getting screwed. Then again maybe all they wanted all along was a hip, young "Wise Latina". If so, they got her.

From civil rights to education reform, tax policy, economic development, health care, international trade, domestic partnerships and affirmative action, he’s left his imprimatur on every aspect of politics and public policy in the Golden State.

He may have left an imprimatur, but I don’t see anyone bragging about how any of that improved from the political end. Maybe the people should get their money back from Willie B.

  26. If the Chronicle is so certain that Willie is the most famous and accomplished African American politician of the last half of the last century, why do they also go into so much tedious detail about how he’s also the Second Coming? Seriously, I think Willie Brown is torpedoing Kamala Harris’ nomination.

  35. Ah, good ol’ Jonestown. It gave us the phrase “drink the Kool-Aid.” It did not give us the now-common locution in which “because” is used as a preposition…but people were reaching for it, as early as 1991.

In that year I interviewed with the Foreign Service, and I was challenged with several stupid-at-least-to-me scenarios, one of which involved American cult members: hypothetically posted to the faraway land in which they were now behaving weirdly, I was asked how I would react to each nuisance they posed. My answers were indifferent. Buy time; dither; not sweat it; these were all unsatisfactory. The Foreign Service was nice enough, or dumb enough, to announce at the end of the day who’d made it to the next phase of the intake process, and for those like me who hadn’t, give an exit interview. Regarding my poor showing with the cultists, I was given the example of Jonestown. That was just plunked down. Its rhetorical force was considered obvious. The diplomats (all the interviewers had served overseas as such) didn’t say, “Because Jonestown.” But I bet they do now.

I didn’t say anything, because I sort of still wished for the job. Even though the Foreign Service exam was so silly it had a question about Andy Warhol. But I thought then, and still think now: so what? So what if Americans go to backwaters and do nutty things to themselves? I personally am not embarrassed, and no government should be officially embarrassed.

Postscript: I actually crossed into Guyana from Brazil, in 2002, likely at the exact same point Evelyn Waugh passed through. I was with a Brazilian who happened to be staying in the same Boa Vista hotel and had seen me there. He chuckled at what we were doing, because like me the only thing he could think of about Guyana was “Jonestown”! We didn’t go that far; just got off the motorboat and walked to the nearest village, where the Brazilian was pleased to buy a T-shirt. With stories like this, I should be Secretary of State.

  38. Kamasutra Harris

Steve, you probably intend to draw attention to Harris’ Indian background, and you probably don’t have much familiarity with current trends in pornography. There are 2 that pertain to Harris.

The first is interest in older women, as demonstrated in this Ngram chart: MILF. While the circa 1980 usage was probably about incest, the term currently refers to matronly-looking women. Although the Ngram chart ends in 2008, my guess is that the popularity of this genre has increased a lot in the last decade.

The second is an increase in interest in black women. While the black porn actresses of the 70s and 80s were extremely dark-skinned and appealed to black fetishists, the current crop of popular black actresses is quite light-skinned and, I ‘d guess, is less a reflection of sexual fetish than a reflection of generationally-changing beliefs about attractiveness and acceptance of brown miscegenated smorgasbord as the standard American society. I can’t easily find a good graphic to illustrate this, but take my word for it–in the last decade-and-a-half, and especially in the last half-decade, there’s been a big increase.

Why am I writing about this? Most male voters under the age of 40 are using Internet pornography, and while many commenters on this blog may not be able to see it, I think Harris may appeal to the lizard brains of lots of young men.
Best not to play up the “kamasutra” angle.

The association with Willie Brown is a winner though. “Lie down with dogs; get up with flees” and all that. Dating him makes her look like a loser, which is a good thing for us.

Another one is Raven by Tim Reiterman. One of Jones’ big money makers was convincing retired black couples and widows to sell their paid for purchased 30 years ago homes to his NGO operation for a minimal amount like $1,000.

Then they’d move into his retirement group homes. Ordinary 3 bedroom houses with 2 sets of bunk beds in every room and beans and rice for meals. They’d turn over their social security and pension checks to his operation.

Jones made a big deal of rescuing these poverty stricken old ladies. But they weren’t poor. They and their husbands had worked all their lives and had social security and pensions as well as houses they bought in the 1940s and turned over to Jones and those White Berkeley Quaker do Gooder types that ran the operation. They did well by doing good.

I never heard of them till the adult children of those widows objected to their mothers giving their inheritance to the con man Jim Jones there were a few newspaper articles and then there was a rush of defenses of Jones and the house theft and appropriation of SS and pension checks was never heard from again.

That’s liberalism. Whatever a black organization does it’s good. Many people assumed Jones was part black like the light skinned Eric Holder. Liberals really defended him. A nephew of former Mayor Alioto, an attorney, told me in all seriousness that the reason Jones needed those thug bodyguards was that the CIA and FBI wanted to assasinate Jones. He was only a moderate liberal.

The reason Jones moved to San Francisco from Ukiah was that he was running all sorts of foster homes and welfare scans and Mendocino county was after him. The other reason was that there weren’t many blacks in Mendocino he could cheat out of their homes and pension checks. So he moved down to San Francisco where he could cheat blacks and city county authorities would give him a pass because he ran a black do gooder operation

He had a great deal of help from the hard core Berkeley Quaker communist world peace black worshipping as Orwell said, sandal wearing, vegetarian health food weirdo cranks

Mayor Moscone was killed at the same time and as president of the board of supervisors Feinstein was well on her way.

Congress critters Phil Burton San Francisco and Bob Burton Marin we’re involved as well. The Oakland blacks stayed away from Jones. They had their own criminal operation going.

What a town. Worst thing about Jonestown is that the liberals didn’t learn a thing and just chased after every black conman crook that came down the pike.

The “Did you or did you not have a conversation with someone who may or may not have worked at one time for” trap was hollow and desperate. Kavanaugh probably inwardly was smirking – knowing the exchange was being earmarked for her future campaign reel.

However, Josefina looks like NO Puerto Rican I have ever met (while Occasional Cortex is within the normal range for Puerto Rican racial appearance (although better groomed and better looking than most). Puerto Ricans are usually tri-racial white/black/Indian (in that order) mixes and it usually shows, so that casting Josefina as Maria is ridiculous.

Maria in the upcoming Spieberg remake of West Side story is more appropriate both age wise and ethnically. She is 17 year old Rachel Zegler:

One night at the Hearst family NoCal redoubt Wyntoon my wife and I were talking to the great historian of California Kevin Starr and his wife. I raised my wife's and my opinion that LA is by far the more interesting city than San Fran, and for a moment worried that I'd ventured into dangerous territory.

They were super-quick to agree, vehemently. They pointed out that when they didn't have to be in the Bay Area for work-related reasons, they would immediately retreat to their house in LA to escape the crushing boredom.

They were very entertaining people. It's a shame he's no longer with us.

I couldn’t give a damn who these people hang out with, what high schools they went to, and whether they’re alive or dead, when it comes down to it. On the average, they are no better or worse than anybody else.

The politicians are another story. They are, on the average, much worse than everybody else. I don’t mind getting the scoop on the scum like Willie Brown, even as our blogger gives them more respect than they deserve (just to keep the blog civil, I’m sure).

What she DIDN’T say–and she knows it because she studied Eco 101 in college–is that corporations don’t pay taxes. They either pass the increases on to the public as a part of doing business , or what they can’t pass on, they’ll drop through the sundry loopholes that always mysteriously seem to open up when corporations are hit with big tax increases. Or, when push comes to shove, they’ll leave the country entirely. In the end it’s at minimum a zero-sum game but her constituents are evidently too dumb to figure out that they’re getting screwed.

    Replies: @L Woods, @Jack D

It’s NOT “as YOU see fit” – there is a definite pre-existing hierarchy or diversity totem pole on which all parties sit so the identity of “oppressor” vs. “victim” in any interaction is predetermined regardless of the parties’ actions (so that their actions are irrelevant – the woman can write gushing notes the next day and the male is STILL guilty). Of course the really tough situations are those that involve parties who both possess a lot of victim Pokemon points – black rapper vs. trans-female rape accuser, etc. Such close cases are much harder to judge than no-brainers such as Harvey Weinstein being accused by a Latina.

Josefina Scaglione is Argentine, which technically makes her a Latina (although judging from her name, of Italian extraction like many Argentines).

Zegler was born in New Jersey to a Polish father and a Colombian mother. I suspect her mother must be pretty black as many Colombians are. Most Puerto Ricans are ancient homogenized black white crosses and Rachel is a 1st generation cross but the result looks about the same. Zegler Sr. is NOT Jewish despite the name.

Depends where the ancestors came from. If they were from Northern Spain, you'll get girls who look like the Infanta in the Velasquez paintings. I've seen a number of naturally redhaired Puerto Ricans in NYC and blonde Cubans in Miami, but the typecasting for WWS has pretty much stayed dark hair. At one cattle call, they sent home all the red-haired PRs, and kept several Black Irish girls to sing.

This was years ago, however: now they'd want "diverse" casting, meaning the performers have to be ethnically Hispanic, but dark hair still required. The disconnect between reality and representation has shifted, not disappeared.

    Kamasutra Harris

Steve, you probably intend to draw attention to Harris' Indian background, and you probably don't have much familiarity with current trends in pornography.

While the black porn actresses of the 70s and 80s were extremely dark-skinned and appealed to black fetishists, the current crop of popular black actresses is quite light-skinned and, I 'd guess, is less a reflection of sexual fetish than a reflection of generationally-changing beliefs about attractiveness and acceptance of brown miscegenated smorgasbord as the standard American society. I can't easily find a good graphic to illustrate this, but take my word for it--in the last decade-and-a-half, and especially in the last half-decade, there's been a big increase.

Why am I writing about this? Most male voters under the age of 40 are using Internet pornography, and while many commenters on this blog may not be able to see it, I think Harris may appeal to the lizard brains of lots of young men.
Best not to play up the "kamasutra" angle.

Well... I gotta believe that Bill and Chelsea have enough sense to talk Hillary out of it! Bernie seems limited to SWPL, and, in today's Dem party, that should start making most of the whites feel guilty: of course, Bernie recently got himself in trouble for whining about this. For much the same reason, I can't see Schultz or Bloomberg taking the Dem nomination. And, the rest seem to me lightweights or very old (Biden).

Of course, Schultz, as he is threatening, or Bloomberg could run as Independents. But, they would just split the leftist vote with the Dems and so would lose: you don't usually get to be a billionaire by being that dumb.

So, I think Kamala has the best shot. Of course, Booker and Castro could point out that she is not really black (not descended from American slaves), but that did not work with Obama. And, the obvious point against her is that she earned her position in California politics "on her back" thanks to Willie Brown, but that is "slut-shaming" and so probably will not work with the Dems, either.

Of course, I obviously don't know who will win: I thought Trump had no chance until he started beating one opponent after another. And, with so many in the Dem field, just being the least objectionable may be enough to get a small plurality: again, I think that may favor Kamala -- she may, in reality be a slutty, arrogant tool of the oligarchs, but I don't think she will come across that way to the typical "low-information" SJW-terrorized Dem primary voters.

The show will be fun to watch: the Dems are in a very nasty mood, and, hopefully, they will tear each other apart.

But, if the Bubble pops, as I suspect it will, and Trump does not prep the country for throwing the blame where it belongs on the Fed, I think the Dems can still take the general election, alas.

It could be seen as reasonable doubt pending other evidence, but the theory of sexual competition will readily explain why it is in the interest of this man's peers to lock him away without recourse, as he has more than tripled the expectation of his reproductive value with the birth of this baby even in an ostensibly monogamous society. It will pain readers of this site, who likely have fertility far lower than a reproducible 2.0, that even if he is confined to prison for the rest of his life, he will have done better than they could ever do in a lifetime of freedom and dissipation to fulfill the necessitates of biology. No amount of letters arranged upon this blog will change that.

To balance trash-of-color, here is a story of white trash which did not make Drudge:

Man claims 11-year-old got pregnant from his clothes

Even if his incredible story is true, he still sounds like scum. Why is he masturbating in the vicinity of an unrelated 11-year-old?

    This particular sentence hit me:

"Cronin, who has five children with his fiancée, was being held at Schenectady County Jail without bail, WRGB reported."

"Five children with his fiancée." It was just a few miles from here that an ancestor of mine had five children of his christened on the same day, about 250 years ago. But he was married to their mother, and the baptisms were likely put off due to the unavailability of clergy out in the sticks at the time.

Los Angeles is far and away more cosmopolitan than San Francisco. For one thing, direct flights to many enormous and important cities are not even available from San Francisco's airport.

San Francisco is a tiny (six miles square) collection of rich Asians and Americans (read: whites) working in offices. Even the helots emptying the trash commute from places like Richmond.

Los Angeles is a much larger, much more populous city, with far more and more varied residents and visitors from around the world, with a much larger econony, far more races and languages in evidence...it's just not even close.

I raised my wife’s and my opinion that LA is by far the more interesting city than San Fran, and for a moment worried that I’d ventured into dangerous territory.

They were super-quick to agree, vehemently. They pointed out that when they didn’t have to be in the Bay Area for work-related reasons, they would immediately retreat to their house in LA to escape the crushing boredom.

Adult blondism is rare even in Northern Europe. You're correct that very few Spaniards are fully blond, as opposed to dishwater blond with blue eyes. But although Northern Spaniards are usually fairer-skinned and display more eye-blondism than Southern Spaniards, it's more of a gradiant than a clear-cut affair.
Moreover, after the Reconquista, large swathes of the South were repopulated by Northerners, joining the majority local Christian populace which never left Andalusia. As you know, the Moors were expelled between 1613 and 1615, long after being defeated.

Congress critters Phil Burton San Francisco and Bob Burton Marin we’re involved as well. The Oakland blacks stayed away from Jones. They had their own criminal operation going.

Well… I gotta believe that Bill and Chelsea have enough sense to talk Hillary out of it! Bernie seems limited to SWPL, and, in today’s Dem party, that should start making most of the whites feel guilty: of course, Bernie recently got himself in trouble for whining about this. For much the same reason, I can’t see Schultz or Bloomberg taking the Dem nomination. And, the rest seem to me lightweights or very old (Biden).

Of course, Schultz, as he is threatening, or Bloomberg could run as Independents. But, they would just split the leftist vote with the Dems and so would lose: you don’t usually get to be a billionaire by being that dumb.

So, I think Kamala has the best shot. Of course, Booker and Castro could point out that she is not really black (not descended from American slaves), but that did not work with Obama. And, the obvious point against her is that she earned her position in California politics “on her back” thanks to Willie Brown, but that is “slut-shaming” and so probably will not work with the Dems, either.

Of course, I obviously don’t know who will win: I thought Trump had no chance until he started beating one opponent after another. And, with so many in the Dem field, just being the least objectionable may be enough to get a small plurality: again, I think that may favor Kamala — she may, in reality be a slutty, arrogant tool of the oligarchs, but I don’t think she will come across that way to the typical “low-information” SJW-terrorized Dem primary voters.

    Kamasutra Harris

Steve, you probably intend to draw attention to Harris' Indian background, and you probably don't have much familiarity with current trends in pornography.

The association with Willie Brown is a winner though. "Lie down with dogs; get up with flees" and all that. Dating him makes her look like a loser, which is a good thing for us.

Of course, if they actually took the steps that would make them desirable to women of their own age and race, they’d not give Willie Brown’s old mattress a second look.

    Kamasutra Harris

Steve, you probably intend to draw attention to Harris' Indian background, and you probably don't have much familiarity with current trends in pornography.

The association with Willie Brown is a winner though. "Lie down with dogs; get up with flees" and all that. Dating him makes her look like a loser, which is a good thing for us.

Kamala might play well on the coasts, but I don’t think Bernie will bow out this time. He will run on his own if he can attract enough cash from his followers. Bloomberg and his billions are a possibility, Hillary might return and an outsider like Starbucks’ Schultz , running as an independent, might make this an interesting campaign year.

P Dave, Excellent reply, but I think Bernie will take the Dems down in flames, Bloomberg runs as an Independent, backed by Schultz and Kamala carries only the coasts. Republicans win with any decent candidate that is not DJT.

But I still grudgingly support Trump, if only because he will be the last US Republican president in history and he's still got a shot a winning in 2020..

    Replies: @Jack D, @Hibernian

Likely a blond Cuban is descended from Teutonic immigrants of whom there were a fair nimber to various Latin American countries.
