One dead and five hurt (four critically wounded) in an attack by a 68-year-old Asian man on a Taiwanese Christian group at a Presbyterian church in the retirement community of Laguna Woods, CA. The aged congregants appear to have disarmed and hogtied the shooter with extension cords before he could kill anymore.

Taiwan has cut back on conscription and reservist training massively in the last two decades, which has China watchers worried about its chances against Red China in an invasion.

Oh by the way, while you were ignoring years of exposed cases of FBI grooming and falling for the narrative of the Phantom Nazis, it turns out that pretty much every other culture besides Western believes in using glocks to protect their honor from unintended apparent insult, using violence to protect the honor of their religion or answer perceived injustice, or in bottling up humiliation until it explodes in a rage killing. Therefore as the country diversifies we can expect more mass attacks, as the country looks more like the Third World we can expect more Third World problems.

BTW using the FBI criteria of mass shooting Asians are about 2x overrepresented among perpetrators, or at least were about 5 years ago when I ran the numbers. Up until the Las Vegas shooting the record for those murdered in one of these events belonged to the Korea born Virginia Tech shooter.
In reality, the Virginia Tech shooter still holds the record, since the Las Vegas shooting was clearly some sort of Deep State op, not the work of a lone madman. Doesn’t count.

It is a mystery. However, I don't think it was a deep state op, I think it was a deep state screw-up. If you know what to do with the pickled ginger, you've probably received an unsolicited bonus gift as a loyalty reward from the casino, if you know what I mean. It was reported on Sunday that the Buffalo shooter became a ward of public health authorities of the State of New York after making threats and expressing suicidal thoughts. From that point on he was under the care of government psychiatrists and no doubt became a recipient of behavior modification drugs. That’s a link that could lead to a chain of contacts ending with Federal agents masquerading as therapists and friendly informants who happen to be “white supremacists” who teach him how to shoot a semi-auto rifle. Timothy McVeigh followed a similar path after he washed out of Ranger training and discharged from the Army.

You wouldn’t turn a gun down in some of our (cough) high crime areas. Even the most anti-gun liberals and Europeans would happily take a gun if they had to walk some of these streets or take the glorious public transportation.
I used to work in an area where 10 rounds in a compact 9mm was for women. The local gangs certainly wouldn’t carry that light.
My ideal carry for public transportation was a 27 round 9mm in a dirty gym bag with a zipper partly opened. Never take out a phone and just sit quietly while keep a corner eye on everyone. I was White collar but would dress down in public.

If you are talking about Gandhi, that comment was in the context of his sadness about Hitler/Holocaust (and probably Stalin, Mussolini, ….. too) , because it was a glaring disproval of his Ahimsa (Nonviolence) struggle he was advocating/experimenting against British rule in India. He was not anti-Western Civilization, being educated in England etc., In fact, he credited some of his political beliefs and methods to Christ.

Great Britain was one of the most powerful nations in free world. France soon acquired the interior 1/3 of the present USA back from Spain. Luckily France was busy with the revolutionary wars and not interested in colonies. Canada was sparsely populated but belonged to England Perfect staging ground for a re conquest.
First and most important guns were required for food . America had plenty of wild pigs landed in Florida by the Spanish in the early 1500s. Most were wild lived in the woods and had to be shot. In fact even farm pigs and cattle were butchered at home not in slaughter houses. Butchered by shooting them in the head hopefully hitting the brain and killing them first shot.
And deer birds raccoons rabbits and other wild game were staple meat So people needed guns to eat. Often made their own bullets. Recycled the bullets. The Indians also farmed. But had no domestic animals. They didn’t need to. Surrounded by wild animals for food clothes tents everything. When they hunted out one piece of their territory they moved on. The European settlers hunted for food too.
Why is it wrong for Indians to feed their families with arrows and Whites and blacks not all right to feed their families using guns.?
Second safety. There really was no law enforcement in rural areas or most importantly on the frontier. When the docile peasants and indentured servants got to America they got a little wild. Plus Americans lived in farms far away from each other. Not like European small farmers who lived in villages where they could watch out for each other and have law enforcement and watchmen
Plus the wild predatory animals foxes killing livestock wolves and cougars mountain lions panthers. Same animal different names. They did kill people. And still do. Lots of wolves and coyotes in America today who kill livestock. I like mountain lions because they killed all the raccoons. In my San Mateo County neighborhood. But after they kill off the raccoons and deer they go after people. Lots of mountain lions and coyotes in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. Think what it was like in the frontier.
Read the memoirs of Talleyrand and other French people who hid out from the worst of the revolution in America. A real change from living in long settled and civilized France. They didn’t need guns in France but sure did in America.
And first and foremost defense against the Indians. The Americans and Spanish invaded their territories and took them. And the Indians fought back. The Spanish and Americans lived on isolated family farms. Very vulnerable to raiding parties of Indian trained soldiers.
The American founders. Washington Jefferson etc intended from about 1760, end of the French and Indian war to conquer the interior held by either France or Spain depending on who won the last European war. And move to the Pacific coast as soon as possible.
Which America did. Not using the army for about the first 60 years of the move west. But the ordinary citizens with their guns which fed their families and protected them against the well armed Indians and White criminals. The people moved west before law enforcement and government.
Europeans were also well armed. England is America’s mother country. England, like America has no standing army until the 1700s under the Georges of Hanover who introduced the continental system.
Right up to the early 1700s the English army was an armed militia. The nobles and Gentry owned the land and towns and every tenant was obligated to serve under the landowner. The big cities had their own militias and every man was obliged to serve. And own maintain and be trained in his own weapons.
Medieval times sports other than archery were often outlawed. Every boy and man from royalty was required to do archery practice several times a month starring s our 6 or 7. The young age was to develop the physical strength to pull the bows and agility to pull arrows out of the quiver notch and shoot them as fast as possible.
In many ways, England was backward in law enforcement compared to the rest of Europe. No city or town police forces until the 1800s. Citizens were supposed to catch suspected criminals and bring them to a magistrate.
There were never any highway patrols in England. The roads weren’t safe and every traveler carried weapons including guns.
The second amendment really came from Britain Americas mother country. Most of our laws were based on British law including gun and weapon laws.
Plus, for a long time guns were necessary for food and home defense in areas where there was fighting with the Indians and little law enforcement for rural people.
The demographic that is most likely to have guns is blacks. Maybe not registered. Usually bought privately not from a licensed gun store . But they have them. Ask any law enforcement person.
Why do blacks need them? To defend themselves from their black neighbors. Just like the Americans, Indians and bandits 200 years ago. Or like Mexico during their civil war anarchy Christos 1910 to about 1935.
The second amendment was very similar to the British laws regarding private ownership of weapons because there was no standing army or police for most of its history.
And practical. Why raise taxes for an army and police when people could defend themselves and defeat the Indians? And hunt for meat.
France has very widespread gun ownership too. For hunting mostly. But no European and sissy boy liberals criticizes France for its widespread gun ownership. Although with ever growing African and Muslim population every French home will soon need handguns for defense.
Arabs and central Asians. Huge gun ownership. Fire wildly on holidays weddings even funerals.
America’s not the only country with widespread gun ownership. Hunting’s very popular in Spain Austria Germany France Russia and the former Soviet territories.
Learn some history learn from which country our second amendment realize how hunting wild game fed most people before supermarkets.
America had a depression in the 1930s. Many rural people ate nothing but deer and wild game. Lots of people ate raccoons rabbits and possums those years. Livestock farmers keep rifles and handguns to kill sick or injured animals rather than letting them suffer. Usual procedure is walk the animal out of the barn or pen to shoot it. Avoids upsetting the other animals.
And last but not least. Bad people use guns to kill other people. And in America it’s first blacks then Hispanics who do most of the killing.

So it was a 68 year old Chinese guy who has been here since at least the 1980s who shot up a church congregation of Taiwanese professionals with an average age of 80.
This makes no sense to me. Presumably Chinese shooter was a refugee or came here for education and never left. Why would he want to deny the people of Taiwan the freedom in their own country that he came to America to get for himself?
I do have to wonder if he was recruited by the Chinese government to do this. One of the good things that came out of that Muslim shooting of a gay nightclub was a look at an entire criminal economy of fake marriages, straw purchases, fraud, and human trafficking, all made possible by open borders.

True story. In 1985 in a CA cow county I attended a luncheon thrown by the black pastors for court personnel. The church meeting room had long tables full of “soul” food, including possum, raccoon, and squirrel. The second amendment was very similar to the British laws regarding private ownership of weapons because there was no standing army or police for most of its history.

That was a nice summary of gun uses in early America, Alden. However, what is missing, for Henry’s Cat’s sake, is the fundamental purpose for Amendment II in the US Constitution.
