From ABC News:

After racial unrest across US, Congress takes another look at reparations

Some local governments have already started to address reparations.

ByBeatrice Peterson
February 17, 2021, 1:27 PM

… The bill seeks to establish a commission to study “and consider a national apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery, its subsequent de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes,” according to H.R. 40’s text.

Since the last time a hearing was held on H.R. 40 in 2019, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has publicly announced her support for reparations. Jackson Lee notes that H.R. 40 has garnered the support of 170 members of Congress and 300 organizations, including the U.S. Conference of Mayors, NAACP and ACLU. However, in the three decades since the bill was first introduced, it has yet to reach the House floor for a vote. …

On Wednesday at a White House press briefing, press secretary Jen Psaki reiterated that President Joe Biden supported the study of reparations. However, when asked if he would support a bill on reparations Psaki said, “We’ll see what happens through the legislative process.”

… “We don’t need a study to take action right now on systemic racism so he wants to take actions within his own government in the meantime.”

  1. Rewarding negroes for violent riots is not new. The Kerner commission report began the nationwide trend in 1968. I don’t believe we are even near the peak levels of special privileges that this population will be granted.

    It’s simply another dimension to the nation’s dizzying descent into collapse.

    Am I the only one who remembers last summer?? The rioters took their own reparations wherever they went, as they normally do. Where's that video of people looting high-end boutiques in Soho from the comfort of their Rolls-Royce Cullinan?

    @Just another serf

    Conservatives should do everything possible to make reparations a top issue. They certainly should take up Biden’s invitation and vote to “study “ the issue. It is a loser any way Biden and other Dems say, annoy the left or take an unpopular position with independents and swing voters.

    Ideally, bring it up frequently, but in a really gentle and mild manner. “I don’t think reparations are right because my ancestors didn’t own slaves.” “Obama had a slave owner ancestor and his black family was never a slave. Does he pay reparations or get them?” “I don’t believe in the idea of inherited guilt.” “The government can’t even fix potholes and we expect it to right ancient historical wrongs?”

    , @Jake
    @Just another serf

    Correct. The WASP Elites have been rewarding Negroes for violence back to the start of Reconstruction. That pattern has waxed and waned with politics, broadly understood, but it has never gone away. It is part of the WASP Elite using Negroes as tools and weapons with which to batter whites that WASP Elites despise.

    It’s simply another dimension to the nation’s dizzying descent into collapse.

    Absolutely! And well put.

    They've already received over $20 trillion in the last 50+ years while at the same time robbing, raping, and murdering their benefactors, and yet it continues.

    Now that some whites are more than willing to take a knee, maybe the robbing, raping and murdering will be factored in to the reparations.

    Would anyone be surprised at this point if that happened, or that some whites would sacrifice themselves, or their children, for the cause?

    The whole thing is just so sick, crazy, and stupid.

  2. Rioting Pays

    Yes, if you’re black or Communist it does.

    What do the White patriots get from the rioting in Washington, FS on Jan 6th? 20 years in the pen? Oh, wait, the rioting did not go on long enough to warrant any rewards, you say? Wait till we really raise hell. It will be its own reward.

    Remarkable, isn't it? Blacks kill cops and burn down cities over the baseless charge that there's an epidemic of police hunting and slaughtering blacks.

    Does the news media say, "Hey black people--there were 15 unarmed blacks killed by the police in 2020. That's hardly an epidemic. It's less than one percent of the number you kill of each other"?

    Does social media say, "Anyone perpetuating the false news that blacks are being hunted and killed by the police will be banned from our platform"?

    Do local politicians say, "You're wrong, our police don't need to be harangued about their supposed racism. Instead, blacks need to address the violence in their own community and teach their children not to resist arrest"?

    Does our federal government say, "Black people, we don't want to hear anymore of this dangerous, slanderous nonsense. You may face criminal prosecution for inciting violence, and at the very least you should lose your jobs"?

    No, of course not. The only people whose concerns can be safely mocked, ignored, suppressed, and even legally punished are whites skeptical of the legitimacy of an election that wouldn't have passed muster in a Third World country.

    The US is also a digital currency. There are no limits on how many can be manufactured out of thin air. The USD is backed up by the decades long habit across the world that it is the world's premier reserve currency. Lousy nations keep US Treasuries (digital of course!) in their vaults aka hard drives as backing for their wretched national currencies. They might even get the actual Treasury papers shipped to them for long term holdings.

    The USD is backed up by confidence in the American system. We are very stable compared to most nations. If China lands some very good punches on us, over say Taiwan, this will hurt the USD as The Reserve Currency.

    btw--One of our new 14 billion dollar aircraft carriers is non functional. Its new fangled electro-magnetic airplane launching system does not work. This hurts us in projecting power even though by now Russian and Chinese missiles can sink them from far away

In the U.S. Whites have become public enemy #1. Watch for more hospitals/communities to deem racism as a public health crisis… then watch the new laws created and public funds to flow to them. The legal ground the left/progressive/woke is laying is to create support and legal justificaiton for race-based reparations. What is most interesting in how few on the right seem to even notice. The 1619 project was just a method to justify reparations based on history. Yet, conservatives/the right decided to argue over the specifics instead of the intent of the project.

    The Dems are in power in the Federal government and in a variety of state legislatures and governor's mansions nationwide because women vote in droves for them....simple as that.

    This is not going to change. Many more women than men are in various ways clients of the state and will therefore vote for the party or person who panders most effectively to them and the "right" won't outpander the "left" on transfers from the productive to the unproductive.

    After all, if the country is so racist, then why would they want to stay here?

    On the other hand, if the country is not so racist and generally a good place to live for blacks, then why all the whining about racial justice and reparations?

    Of course, we know why. Whining is for winning benefits and getting attention. When you reward whining, you get more of it.

    However, I did read an article about some black guy who moved to Africa and said he felt relieved to be away from all the racial history. Could all this wokeness lead to massive emigration to Africa? I can dream. 26. As always the elephant in the room is, if reparations can be defined and paid, does that not ‘repair’ the relationship between African-Americans and the state and white America?

    Because I have a feeling it won’t and ethnic activism will just continue. In normal situations like this the other group would have sought and gained political independence by now but since a defined African-American homeland isn’t really asserted or recognised, it’s just constant resentment and conflict. That’s what was so telling about the Black Panthers, they were essentially an imitation of nationalist terrorist groups but unlike them the Black Panthers had no coherent end goals. So the Black Panthers just meandered about robbing banks for ‘funds’ so they could conduct terrorism to free their own guys who’d been jailed in their bank robbing or terrorism that just revolved around getting their guys out of jail.

    Yet ironically they’re lauded unlike any other comparable organisation except ones that succeeded in founding a new state. It’s so weird, all they did was pointless violence. That is the power of the guruism and generational turnover in the non-hard sciences academia. Generations now of US college students taught that these people were very important and moral saints despite being neither important nor laudable.

    As always the elephant in the room is, if reparations can be defined and paid, does that not 'repair' the relationship between African-Americans and the state and white America?

    Because I have a feeling it won't and ethnic activism will just continue. In normal situations like this the other group would have sought and gained political independence by now but since a defined African-American homeland isn't really asserted or recognised, it's just constant resentment and conflict. That's what was so telling about the Black Panthers, they were essentially an imitation of nationalist terrorist groups but unlike them the Black Panthers had no coherent end goals. So the Black Panthers just meandered about robbing banks for 'funds' so they could conduct terrorism to free their own guys who'd been jailed in their bank robbing or terrorism that just revolved around getting their guys out of jail.

    Yet ironically they're lauded unlike any other comparable organisation except ones that succeeded in founding a new state. It's so weird, all they did was pointless violence. That is the power of the guruism and generational turnover in the non-hard sciences academia. Generations now of US college students taught that these people were very important and moral saints despite being neither important nor laudable.

    It's a typical case of piss-poor preparedness aggravated by the state's increasing reliance on clean and green energy that fails under extreme winter conditions. Even before the Obama administration, green-energy advocates were gaining the upper hand there. States far to the north may be woke and green but they also know what it takes for a power network to make it through the winter.

    Pipes big and small are bursting all over the state, so even when it warms up many residents or entire areas still won't have water. Individual homeowners may be able to shut off their water main before everything freezes, but many others lack access to a cutoff -- and sprinkler systems are deliberately difficult to cut off.

    And then just wait for the black mold infestations from all this water damage...

  46. I’m currently reading Andy Ngo’s book.

    It’s much more geared toward moderate Fox News conservatives for my liking but overall it seems well written. (Unfortunately, Andy likely needs money after getting banged up pretty bad by Antifa a while back so no qualms about going for the big market.) Ngo documents the bizarre legal responses from district attorneys, mayors, and police regarding Antifa. How they consistently triple down on appeasement and are especially loath to physically push back with force. (It’s very reminiscent of the “legal fairies” that seemed to intervene on behalf of 1960s radicals concerning their legal cases for domestic terrorism. That isn’t an accident.) Despite the depictions of destitute street trannies running the organization, there are some powerful people involved within Antifa and who are strongly allied with it. This is evident with those quite sizable bail funds that have been raised in the last few years. I’m leaning toward Sailer’s bet that high end Antifa members will openly declare their membership on resumes in the future. That it’ll be more of a asset than liability.

    I’ve also read Mark Bray’s “Antifa” book (he’s a Antifa insider) and both he and Ngo’s book overlap quite well.

    https://www.amazon.com/Antifa-Mark-Bray-audiobook/dp/B076B7VZY3/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Antifa&qid=1613627079&s=books&sr=1-2

    This is especially true in regards to history and past ideology. Until relatively recently Antifa possessed classic old left Marxist concerns. But the massive influx (especially since Trump 2016) of woke NeoLiberals really transformed it into the Woke Diversity Uber Alles it is today. (Those poor Trotskyites never seem to catch a break, they got railroaded by those who read Herbert Marcuse and Michel Foucault.)

    Does the news media say, “Hey black people–there were 15 unarmed blacks killed by the police in 2020. That’s hardly an epidemic. It’s less than one percent of the number you kill of each other”?

    Does social media say, “Anyone perpetuating the false news that blacks are being hunted and killed by the police will be banned from our platform”?

    Do local politicians say, “You’re wrong, our police don’t need to be harangued about their supposed racism. Instead, blacks need to address the violence in their own community and teach their children not to resist arrest”?

    Does our federal government say, “Black people, we don’t want to hear anymore of this dangerous, slanderous nonsense. You may face criminal prosecution for inciting violence, and at the very least you should lose your jobs”?

    “Reparations, Phase I”

  57. Kipling, white colonialist supremacist and all, was there first on reparations. Once is never enough.

    Dane-geld
    IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
    To call upon a neighbour and to say: –
    “We invaded you last night – we are quite prepared to fight,
    Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

    And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
    And the people who ask it explain
    That you’ve only to pay ’em the Dane-geld
    And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

    It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
    To puff and look important and to say: –
    “Though we know we should defeat you,
    we have not the time to meet you.
    We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

    And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
    But we’ve proved it again and again,
    That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
    You never get rid of the Dane.

    It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
    For fear they should succumb and go astray;
    So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
    You will find it better policy to say: —

    “We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
    No matter how trifling the cost;
    For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
    And the nation that plays it is lost!”

States far to the north may be woke and green but they also know what it takes for a power network to make it through the winter.

    Pipes big and small are bursting all over the state, so even when it warms up many residents or entire areas still won’t have water. Individual homeowners may be able to shut off their water main before everything freezes, but many others lack access to a cutoff — and sprinkler systems are deliberately difficult to cut off.

    And then just wait for the black mold infestations from all this water damage…

    Also, recipients should have to move to Africa and give up their U.S. citizenship.

I would enjoy the horror on the faces of woke activists/politicians/preachers as blacks left en masse, reducing their power source.

    You make the crucial point, Ed

    All the focus on minorities obscures the reality that the bulwark and centrepiece of the Dem coalition is single and childless white women without whom the "coalition of the fringes" falls apart.

    I recently reread C S Lewis's classic The Great Divorce, a remarkable little book in which Lewis envisages souls in Hell taking 'holidays' to Heaven, where they are given another chance to exercise their free will, and determine their eternal destination.

    One of the most memorable of these characters is a woman whose son died young, before her, and all she wants is to be reunited with him in Heaven so that she can resume her earthly obsession with 'loving' him. She is gently reminded that there is a love that must take an even higher priority than mother-love, and the drama is whether or not she can perceive and turn towards this ultimate telos of Love itself.

    One of Lewis's most insightful themes is that misdirected loves may appear healthy and even admirable on their surface, but they are pure poison in practice, and that the greater the love, the more destructive its effects when it goes awry.

    The current and previous governor there (both GOP) surrendered plenty of ground to the greens and apparently did not supply the supervision that might have prevented all this damage. So in this case the Republicans do get a healthy share of the blame. There's plenty of blame all around, now everyone can fight over who gets the bill

    Whites were a minority in South Carolina, Louisiana, and Mississipi. When I point out that that can also be called genocide, by both your own and the UN’s definitions, you are the one who freaks out.

    The sex perverts at SPLC closed down the Klan. I merely suggested closing down the Democratic Party through similar means. The SPLC has only been committing race treason for about 50 years. The Democrats have been at it four times as long.

    We weren’t quick enough to expel states for insufficient whiteness in the 19th century. We should look into it now. We can start with Hawaii and DC and then, excluding “white Hispanics”, California, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, and Maryland.

    Kipling, white colonialist supremacist and all, was there first on reparations. Once is never enough.

    Dane-geld
    IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
    To call upon a neighbour and to say: –
    "We invaded you last night – we are quite prepared to fight,
    Unless you pay us cash to go away."

    And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
    And the people who ask it explain
    That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
    And then you'll get rid of the Dane!

    It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
    To puff and look important and to say: –
    "Though we know we should defeat you,
    we have not the time to meet you.
    We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

    And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
    But we've proved it again and again,
    That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
    You never get rid of the Dane.

    It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
    For fear they should succumb and go astray;
    So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
    You will find it better policy to say: --

    "We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
    No matter how trifling the cost;
    For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
    And the nation that plays it is lost!"

    Absolutely! And well put.

    They’ve already received over $20 trillion in the last 50+ years while at the same time robbing, raping, and murdering their benefactors, and yet it continues.

    I still think all this attention is the last hurrah for blacks in the US, at least in terms of hogging the spotlight as minorities. It will be harder and harder to politically ignore Hispanics and Asians (who are now getting forced into the conversation due to being assaulted by blacks… somewhat ironically).
