From WXOW.com:

Madison Police chief denies claim teen pressured to recant hate crime claim
August 26, 2020

MADISON (WKOW) – Madison’s Police chief denies a claim made by a protest leader that detectives asked a teenager who maintained she was the victim of a disturbing, hate crime to recant her story. …

A protest leader told a group of one hundred people in downtown Madison Tuesday that she was not only outraged over the Kenosha Police shooting of Jacob Blake, but also of the treatment of [Althea] Bernstein.

“Madison Police asked her to revise her statement…and admit she lied,” the protest leader maintained, refusing to reveal her name to 27 News. “And these white men set her on fire. She still doesn’t have justice. She’s still afraid,” the protest leader said.

“That’s inaccurate,” Interim Madison Police Chief Vic Wahl told 27 News of the claimed request of the teenager to recant. “I can tell you we’ve spent hundreds of hours investigating that case. It remains an open investigation.”

They’ve got us working in shifts!

… 27 News representatives have made several requests of Madison Police for any video they may possess of the intersection of State and West Gorham streets, or nearby streets, at the time on June 24 Bernstein says the incident took place. But each request has been denied by police custodians, citing the ongoing investigation.

On the same evening of the incident involving the teen, authorities say protesters toppled statues, attacked a state lawmaker, and Madison’s City-County Building was firebombed.

There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in connection to the burning of Bernstein.

Hmhmhmhmmmmm … Tiz a puzzlement …

How about if Althea Bernstein is let go in return for a public statement by her on video admitting her guilt in concocting a blood libel of whites and calling for increased awareness of hate hoaxes and anti-white defamation?

What's the theory on why male sportsball has been repeatedly staging walk-outs and mutual forfeits? Is this like a past-its-prime hair band "postponing" their announced reunion tour because tickets for the 2nd night of the comeback at the Whisky A Go Go only sold in the 250-300 range?

  2. We should all be demanding justice for Althea. Another hate-hoax blowing up in their faces on the eve of the election is worth more than all the political ads combined.

  3. “I can tell you we’ve spent hundreds of hours investigating that case. It remains an open investigation.”

One more reason Democrats want to Defund Police! This crime doesn’t need investigating! Just round up some white boys and throw them in jail already.

How about if Althea Bernstein is let go in return for a public statement by her on video admitting her guilt in concocting a blood libel of whites and calling for increased awareness of hate hoaxes and anti-white defamation?

I know at least one golf-course cowboy who’s gonna be scheduled for some genu-wine re-education come November!

  4. One way for everyone involved to save face (haha, pun unintended, but it stays!) is for Althea to turn herself in for accidentally burning herself. She gets the $10,000, the cops can go back to working regular shifts at standard pay, protesters can concentrate, CONCENTRATE DAMMIT!, on talking about black people, and her parents can get over their embarrassment by starting a youtube channel on how to safely throw Molotov cocktails.

Steve, quit writing “Althea”! You know damn well this Dead song will end up in our heads through tomorrow evening, if I don’t embed it right now.

  5. Who the hell will notice anymore. They’re clowns. If you aren’t dancing for your supper what good are you?

  6. How about you or someone else concerned about the case start a gofundme appeal to raise the reward for information above the current rather, er, niggardly $10k?

Payable on submission of verifiable evidence of events involving poor Ms Bernstein on the occasion of her reported immolation by a group of dastardly racists. Is there a right-thinking person who would fail to support such a worthy cause? Maybe $500k would provide an incentive.

I'm not too impressed with Naomi Osaka's forfeiture of her match at the Western and Southern Open. She's only giving up a pittance in prize money, but, more importantly, she's gaining one or even two rest days before the start of next week's U.S. Open. Now, if she's willing to boycott that tournament and its potential payout ($3.85 million for singles champions, according to Alexa)... well, then, that's a different story.

  12. I’ll bet wampum to bagels the Madison PD solved this case weeks ago and has all the evidence they need for a conviction in this heinous crime!!!
I wholeheartedly support all athletes and protesters that are bringing attention to this coverup by the entrenched power structure of Wisconsin!!

I am guessing all the Madison PD has is Bernstein's cell phone tracking data that proves she was lying about her drive and puts her at the City-County building and camera footage from the State Street intersection that shows she was not attacked there. That is enough to convince any reasonable person she is lying, but it meaningless to the protesters. The Madison PD hasn't solved her burned her because Bernstein won't tell them.

Blacks tend to fall into two categories (mostly the first)- either they tip poorly or not at all, or else they tip extravagantly. Maybe it has to do with not being able to do maf. But really it relates to their mental image of themselves as royalty (same reason they won't submit to Po-lice). When you are a royal, you can bestow or withhold rewards according to you whims, but you are entitled to service from the peasants in any case.

The ones who leave no tip are also the ones who harass servers with elaborate requests in accordance with their status as rap stars or pro athletes. OK, they are only ASPIRING rap stars but they are on the verge of their break out hit.

The tournament decided to pause play today and resume on Friday. That eliminates a day of rest for the players that make the final before the U.S Open starts. I can't see the Eastern Europeans in pro tennis having a lot of tolerance for this. There is no guaranteed money in tennis and players outside the 50 don't make that much money after expenses. They are struggling to get restarted with Covid the way it is, they can't afford to take social justice stances.

    @Rouetheday

I don't think it's in Naomi Osaka's interest to suddenly become "black" in Japan. Of course, everyone knows she's a half "American" who can't speak Japanese that well, which is cute, but aligning herself with rioters and protesters and people who don't go to work over something that has nothing to do with their employment is going to hurt her image and her commercial endorsements in Japan.

You don't get it Alice. A lot of women want clannish religious oppression. Amish romance porn is a big seller. They long to be handmaidens, which is why they show up at protests in those ridiculous getups pretending they are sticking it to the man when actually they hope they will meet an ardent fascist guy to help them actualize their fantasies.

  21. Anon[209] • Disclaimer says:

Amusing that blacks trying to ‘help’ blacks by showing solidarity means that blacks on sports teams may end up losing their jobs. If they refuse to play, they don’t get paid. Eventually, they won’t even get hired any more. I bet they’re carrying on like this because the stands are mostly empty, and the blacks know that being on professional sports is over for them.

Once Covid passes, teams will become white or Hispanic, not black. They understand that playing professional sports is a privilege, not a right.

Scottie Pippen aside, I suspect there are a significant number of blacks who actually don't have any clear notion of how much to tip, and see a $5.00 tip on a $80.00 bill as being pretty generous, since it's five dollars more than they have to pay.

I once had dinner with a Korean girl who refused to leave anything for a tip, because tipping isn't "a thing" in Korea. 44. Lance Roberts, a financial advisor who writes on Zero Hedge, was writing about the effect of ZIRP on the retired. The effect on professional athletes will be profound considering they aren’t looking at 20 to 25 years of retirement but closer to 50.

Roberts pointed out to retire at 60 to 65 with a $50,000 annual income you would need to have an $8+ million nest egg given today’s sub 1% interest rates. $8 million might be what a typical NFL or NBA player could amass in their 4.5 year career. If you had invested in restaurants or other franchise operations you might have already been wiped out. The typical pro athlete will not be able to pay the taxes and upkeep on a large home or support ex wives, out of wed lock children or much else given what the Fed has done.

That pro athletes are damaging their leagues to support negro thugs is going to cost them dearly as those multimillion dollar salaries shrink and saving even $8 million becomes a thing of the past. They might even consider becoming policemen or correctional officers rather than retire at thirty as the pension they gain from that could be worth as much as the money they made in the NFL/NBA.

The tournament decided to pause play today and resume on Friday. That eliminates a day of rest for the players that make the final before the U.S Open starts. I can’t see the Eastern Europeans in pro tennis having a lot of tolerance for this. There is no guaranteed money in tennis and players outside the 50 don’t make that much money after expenses. They are struggling to get restarted with Covid the way it is, they can’t afford to take social justice stances.

There was recently a thread on reddit (surprisingly, it did NOT involve people calling each other racists) on why blacks won't tip.

I don't buy the "culture" explanation. I didn't grow up eating in restaurants. I can literally count on the fingers of one hand the # of times I dined in a restaurant before I reached high school age and started going out with my friends. But somewhere along the way (probably the first time I went to a restaurant) someone told me that you are supposed to leave an approximately 15% tip (this seems to have gone up recently so that 18% is "normal" but back in the day 15% was standard) and that was it. You only had to tell me once. It was really one of the easier aspects of becoming "Americanized". There are much more complicated social and cultural rules that you need to master if you come from a different culture and want to succeed and be accepted in American culture. Adding 15% to your check is maybe one of the simplest ones. Hell, nowadays phones all have calculator apps so you don't even have that excuse.

If I told a black server that I have no clear notion of how much to tip because I am from a different culture and that therefore I am going to stiff her (BTW on the reddit thread they mentioned that blacks don't tip black servers either) , I'm pretty sure that server would edjumacate me right quick. After all, it's really hhhhaaarrrrdd to figure out how much 18 percent is.

You gotta skip-count by 8s however many times the digit in the ones place says to, then you have to write down the digit in the ones place for the answer and carry any tens and remember to add that digit you carried when you skip-count for the next digit, and keep doing all that, and not get lost. And then when you're all done with the 8, you have to go to the next line for the answer and put a zero and then do it all again for the 1 in the tens place! And then add all those numbers together and not mix up what goes with which!! And then you have to figure out where to put the decimal! ARRRGGHHH!
-- And then you get done doing all THAT, you still have to remember to add the amount you just figured out to the amount on the check, and that's even more carrying! Who can do all that?

Oh, smartphone calculator you say? THAT would require knowing to put a decimal point, and where to put it when you enter the numbers. WHO can do THAT??? /sarc

You think I'm kidding, right? Have you ever seen a 3rd grader struggle to multiple a two-digit number by two or 3 digits? That's what your average black looks like, when asked to multiply by .18. It really is too much to ask. Servers should just automatically add their tip onto the bill.

Well she is smart enough to know that she shouldn't do that but she doesn't know anymore how much change to really give me back. The ticket is closed and there's no way to open it back up on the register. I tell her "please give me $2.84 back," but she doesn't trust this strange white dude and anyway how is it possible that I know the answer so quickly - must be some black magic involved since I haven't taken out my phone calculator or moved my lips or anything - I just blurt out $2.84 instantly. I must be just making it up or trying to cheat the sister. So she gets out a paper and pencil and starts writing columns of figures and it might as well be finding the square root of 2.16 and not just simple subtraction. The first thing that you hit is zero take away four and that's already impossible right off the bat. Maybe you know that you are supposed to "borrow" from the next column but the next column is also zero. How do you borrow from zero? Another impossibility. (And using the method of making change by counting up does not occur to them either). Really should have been paying attention in class that day instead of talking shit about Tanisha, even if she is a fat ho. The way you solved the problem is that you added 4 cents to come up with $2.20, added another 80 cents to come up to $3.00, where you figured your change was $2.84. You did all this in your head, and the reason this method works is you are subtracting from an even dollar amount. That is how retail clerks used to count out change in the days before fancy POS terminals replaced cash registers.

As far as the cashier not being able to do the subtraction, you cannot really blame that one on race, the problem is that the schools don't teach a good subtraction method to cover the case of the two zeroes you talk about.

The "borrowing" method of subtraction is called the "American method." It is really cumbersome when you have to propagate a "borrow" across two zeroes. The alternative "Austrian method" adds to the bottom and it works just fine subtracting $2.16 from $5.00.

I was volunteering with a service organization not connected to the school at an elementary school fundraiser. I got a sudden interest in subtraction algorithms when a digital logic design problem came up at work. I asked a dad at this event to do a subtraction problem for me, and he couldn't do it, referring me to his daughter, I asked his daughter, and she was able to solve it by borrowing, but the method of dealing with the two zeroes was really complicated, and this school was in the shadow of a major research university so you would expect the students and the teachers to be top notch. But still, they need to teach the Austrian method (it is on Wikipedia, if anyone wonders what I mean).

My favorite is to pay a bill of say $11.16 by giving the cashier $21.25. They look at you like you are insane until they punch 21.25 into the register.

WRT restaurant tipping, many places now have credit card machines they bring to the table that suggest what the amount should be if you want to tip 10, 15, or 20%. Many people can't do simple math in their heads; it's not just blacks.

I remember figuring out in fourth grade that you can multiple and divide by 10 simply by moving the decimal point, but then I have always been fascinated by numbers.

I think black culture has traditionally involved lots of dining where you order from the counter or get your food cafeteria style. Tipping isn't really "a thing" there either, unless you leave a couple of bucks on the table for the busboy.

A few times in Buenos Aires and once in Montevideo staff came outside to try to return the tip I’d left thinking I’d forgotten my change. Some places appear to have little in the way of a tipping culture.

  59. So even though Team Althea refuses to speak to the police, only saying the investigation is still ongoing, Ms. Bernstein made a public appearance last night, speaking to the BLM protesters about her bravery:

“Its been mentally exhausting. There’s good days and bad days. I realized I need to be down here. I’m an EMT I’m here for medical service. Does my skin color offend you? Does My success scare you? Does the fact that I’m a black woman make you worried that change is going to happen?”

Then Ms Bernstein went on to tell the media she felt empowered addressing the crowd.

When I read that BS I became physically ill. Not only have the Madison police refused to file charges against her for filing a false police report they’re making her into a hero and the Wisconsin State Journal isn’t helping.

I’d like to address the issue of her succes? Successfully pulling off a hate crime hoax and having your family buy your way out of prison? She calls herself an EMT, but she’s still in school. So, what success she talking about? I guess this is an obvious reference to the fact she filed a false police report (and could have potentially incited a race war), and got away with it because her family is wealthy and politically connected

What a scumbag this person is! She should be behind bars! And if the police are telling the truth that there’s still an active investigation, how many hundreds of thousands of dollars has it cost to City of Madison because this fat pig lied to cover up her actions the evening of the riots.

With all the surveillance cameras in that area, if four Wisconsin frat boys wearing Hawaiian shirts set Ms Bernstein on fire they would have been behind bars 2 months ago.

A couple of times I have been at a fast food place where the cashier punches in the wrong bill that is tendered - Say the check is for $2.16 and I give her a $5 but she punches in $50 and it says to give $47.84 back. Meanwhile there are people in line behind me whose lunch hour is fast disappearing - time means nothing to blacks unless they are being paid on the clock. I find the whole thing to be hilarious, at least if I am not in a rush that day.

As far as the cashier not being able to do the subtraction, you cannot really blame that one on race, the problem is that the schools don’t teach a good subtraction method to cover the case of the two zeroes you talk about.

The “borrowing” method of subtraction is called the “American method.” It is really cumbersome when you have to propagate a “borrow” across two zeroes. The alternative “Austrian method” adds to the bottom and it works just fine subtracting $2.16 from $5.00.

I was volunteering with a service organization not connected to the school at an elementary school fundraiser. I got a sudden interest in subtraction algorithms when a digital logic design problem came up at work. I asked a dad at this event to do a subtraction problem for me, and he couldn’t do it, referring me to his daughter, I asked his daughter, and she was able to solve it by borrowing, but the method of dealing with the two zeroes was really complicated, and this school was in the shadow of a major research university so you would expect the students and the teachers to be top notch. But still, they need to teach the Austrian method (it is on Wikipedia, if anyone wonders what I mean).

To me at least, the Austrian method is trivial - instead of subtracting the borrowed decimal from the minuend, you ADD it to the the subtrahend. Seems about the same to me but maybe it helps some kids.

I find it most helpful to actually understand what you are doing, rather than just doing mechanical operations like a computer. Imagine that you start out with 10 dimes and no pennies in your pocket and now you have to give your friend 84 cents and you want to count how much money you'll have left after you pay him. One solution (the American method) is that you could go to the bank and "break" one of your dimes into 10 pennies, and give your friend 4 of those pennies, keeping 6 for yourself. So now you have 9 dimes left (you gave one to the bank) and you give your friend 8 dimes so you have 1 dime left (plus 6 pennies) or 16 cents total.

In the Austrian method, instead of breaking that dime at the bank, you ask your friend whom you are paying to lend you ten pennies (promising that you will give him an extra one of your dimes in a minute when you pay him, in addition to what you owe him). Now you give him back 4 of those pennies and keep 6 for yourself. And instead of giving your friend 8 dimes, you give him 9 in order to pay him back for the ten pennies you just borrowed from him and you keep 1, so again you are left with 16 cents.

    @black sea

I don't buy that blacks don't really know how much to tip. They know damn well but they just don't want to.

If I get a black server now, I leave. I dont say anything or make a scene, I just leave.

Many people can’t do simple math in their heads; it’s not just blacks.

I remember figuring out in fourth grade that you can multiple and divide by 10 simply by moving the decimal point, but then I have always been fascinated by numbers.
