At the end of this clip, the cops pull over the Prius driver, of course, for being so racist as to fear that the Breonna Taylor Mourners would go all Reginald Denny on him.

Which they did, granted. But that just makes his stereotyping of them even more deplorable.

This would make a good Curb Your Enthusiasm episode: Larry David’s Prius is attacked by a mob on Sunset in front of the Arclight movie theater, but he gets arrested and declared to be The Face of White Terrorism. Or I guess it was an episode of Seinfeld in 1992.

Somebody should do a study of voters who primarily watch local news, with lots of raw helicopter feeds, vs. voters who primarily watch highly curated national news. Ask them whether this summer has been more noteworthy for Peaceful Protests or Riots?

By the way, the big white golf ball-like Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome that the terrified Prius owner drives past is the ancient Cinerama Dome movie theater on Sunset Boulevard where I saw 2001 in 1968.

Why do Democrats hate cities?

This video shows the limits of trying to get away in a Prius in LA. Even at night. And don’t even think about trying to carry a gun anywhere in urban California. LA sheriffs just busted somebody with an AR in a car in Rancho Palos Verdes the other night.

At the same twitter account, Lori Lightfoot thought it would be fun to have a cowboy ride around locked-down Chicago so that the dozen or so maskwearers seeing the cowboy would be aware of the US Census in a way they were not already. The cowboy in question knew nothing about horses and forced his animal to gallop for hours, on pavement. At this point it might be helpful to visualize fluffy little bunnies. So the horse was in agony and had to be put down. Now can we have the execution scene from the Handmaid’s Tale?

    A couple of observations.

One, blm / anti-fa ARE the STATE. You cross them at your peril. THEY ARE THE POLICE. The old cops have been replaced and know it.

blm if they feel like it have the perfect legal right to pull you from your car and beat you to death, for being the wrong color (White). That is the LAW.

Two, this means the death of cities. With blm and anti-fa now in total control and randomly just pulling people from their cars and beating them, what White person will show up there? Ever?

Three, this stuff has gotten out of control. As the episode with the pimp shows, its not about money and payoffs for most of these. It is the violence. The violence is the whole point — the people dealing it out enjoy it and want to beat and or humiliate their enemies. Even if Soros and the DNC wanted to put the genie back in the bottle they can’t. Its not going to stop, not ever. Not for twenty years.

Four, people now with masks will be discreetly armed, and will shoot and scoot. Might as well hang for a Lion as a Lamb, so to speak, and while central urban areas have lots of cameras and helicopters the tyranny of distance means that the ability to replicate the cops as back up to blm and anti-fa beatings and killings will be limited.

Five, everyone black or the least bit anti-fa will be viewed as “mortal threat, mortal threat, mortal threat” by the average White person who will first avoid/evade, and if cornered shoot and scoot. Nobody wants a beating.

Six, the burning desire of blm and anti-fa to beat down random White people rather than rake in the dough like a true pimp, for feelz is going to kick off a hot, Balkans style civil war sooner rather than later.

Blacks are terrible at taking care of animals because blacks lack empathy. They treat their dogs (always a pit bull!) with extreme savagery because blacks are amused by being vicious to animals. Their lack of empathy is why blacks always enjoy a street fight among other blacks. Whites feel shame when they see whites fighting in the streets.

  18. Yeah, I once saw 2001 in revival also at the Cinerama (what the late Warlord Deiter used to always call “the Mighty Cinerama Dome!”). But later than 1968. What was hilarious was, they used an old, inferior print, which was full of scratches, and poor quality. So a movie that was supposed to be about THE FUTURE!! wound up looking like an anthropology documentary from 1948.

Some future. I was promised flying cars, and instead I get BLM complaining about stuff that happened in 1850.

They didn’t want the driver. They wanted the battery.

Weird Prius scene #2: A guy pulls into our village park’s parking lot, circling around so he’s up against the trash barrel in front of the restroom building. He opens his window, tosses a bag into the barrel, and drives off.

Now that’s lazy. There are plenty of cans on Main St, and he’s not using any gas in town. But he’d have to park and step out.

Steve is one of the lucky people who saw 2001 in Cinerama, the best way it could be seen. I saw it that year or the next when it went into wide release. We had a nice, old theater with a big monolith, um, I mean movie screen, but it wasn’t Cinerama.

Anyway, when you’re nine years old you don’t see the deeper aspects of the film, no matter how good the projection is. You think about those when you’re older, and you watch it in your living room on a smaller black monolith.

I used to have a casebook documenting the making of 2001, and it was hilarious to see how many of the “genius” aspects of the film were really accidents caused by the usual constraints of production: there were all sorts of rilly stupid things Kubrick wanted to do, that he couldn’t do becuz budget constraints, so he settled for simpler solutions, just like the Ramones. If Kubrick had had unlimited resources to do just what he wanted, the movie would have been even more retarded than “Heaven’s Gate”.

    The results of losing control:

But seriously, this situation of being surrounded in a vehicle is a trolley problem: Do you escape when you will only bump a few people, with no real harm, but probably get arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, but get away without traumatic brain injury from stomping protestors … but with huge legal bills? Or do you hope that they will lose interest and you’ll be able to drive away a couple of minutes later, but risk having to plow over people and injure or kill them? Do you infuriate them by keeping your windows closed, or make it easier for them to pull you out of the car by trying to reason … with a mob? There is really no way out if you accidently drive into a street with a mob. You have only seconds to decide. Your decision will become the subject of a day or two in court.

At least make sure you have an always-on front-facing drive camera with sound recording on in your car for evidence.

I finally got around to reading the widely linked “Black Lives Matter and the Mechanics of Conformity” piece in Quillette from a week ago. It goes over all the research showing that blacks are not being subjected to disproportionate police violence, in itself helpful, and then goes on to explain why there is the widespread delusion that racist police violence exists, citing various psychological and economics research.

The research of Cass Sunstein and Tim Kuran is especially convincing in how it explains what is going on. The developed the concepts of availability, informational, and reputational cascades. The Quillette piece was truly an ah-ha moment for me.

Videos of beatings are constantly available in ones media environment, so people believe it; people around you and in the media believe it, so you figure it must be right; and finally, for the remaining skeptics, they have to fake that they believe it for reputational reasons.

Yes, but from the subjective point of view of any individual, videos of blacks getting beaten comprise almost his whole “bad behavior” diet. You have to seek out WSHH, which only alt right Nazis do ;-). The blacks-being-shot videos are force-fed to everyone in mainstream broadcast and print media, as well as major internet outlets. I guess it’s a matter of a tipping point or a threshold that is met in the common availability of something, which triggers the cascade.

How long until we have a dragged-trough-the-window-and-beaten victim who turns out to be a politician, a mainstream media journalist, a civil rights activist, or someone else who is clearly and undeniably not trying to “plow through” protesters, but who ends up getting his head kicked in? Besides an Informational Cascade, there is an Informational Desert of alternative theories. My Occam’s Razor explanation of why blacks get hassled by the cops more than other races do — because they commit more crimes, especially more murders — is, because it’s so obviously right once you think of it, has been driven out of the realm of conceivability. Has even Tucker Carlson said it this summer? I know Trump hasn’t. I imagine Ted Cruz hasn’t said it, or Rubio or Graham. They at least probably know it’s true, but most people no longer know it’s true.

When I was a little kid in the ’60’s, the violent TV images of social unrest that stuck in my mind the most were the black inner city riots (mostly outside of the South, as I recall) followed by the campus riots (where the property damage and loss of life was far less than in the inner city.) But, as we can all plainly see today, our collective memory (via the media) has us all “remembering” that the worst violence of the ’60’s was the use of fire hoses and police dogs against the desegregation marches in the South. “Those images were burned into our minds,” say today’s millionaire TV personalities.

As far as interpreting black-initiated violence goes, I suspect far left progressives (black and white) fall back on the perception/mythology that counter-intuitive explanations are the most “intelligent.” They see themselves as possessing the insight of Galileo (it’s the Earth that’s moving, though our senses tell us otherwise.) The left is essentially unprincipled, however, so counter-intuitive explanations aren’t a byproduct of a thought process, they’re a path to a (morally) desired end result.

  72. FPD72 says:

“It was like far out man…”

I also saw it at the Cinerama Dome in 1968, but at the very back of the theater. During the closing sequence, with the brilliant rush of colors, the guy in front of me kept saying “Far out!” and “Wow.” My guess at the time was that he had dropped acid before entering the theater.

  74. @Steve Sailer

I remember seeing a debate between Ben Shapiro and some campus blm partisans (really finding quality debate opponents!) a few years back where he states in very plain terms that blacks get more attention from the police because they commit more violent crime. Since Quillette has said it and Heather Mac Donald said it in a WSJ op-ed there really shouldn’t be stigma against saying something so painfully honest.

But Trump and Tucker, even though they’re lauded (or attacked) for having more sense on these topics than almost all other public figures, will refuse to call their opponents anti-white. In fact, if you watch any segment on Tucker Carlson’s show that details some flagrant discrimination or hatred against whites, he won’t actually say “attacked for being white.” He instead says they’re “attacked for the color of their skin,” carefully avoiding actually referring to whites by name. I don’t know if Trump is saving it as an October surprise, but if he called his opponents antiwhite then the ensuing media backlash for daring to speak an obvious truth would help his numbers immensely. A 3% increase in white support does more than a 10% increase in black support but he seems singularly concerned with the latter.

The animal cruelty is a side effect.

I hope the events of this summer would make anti-BLM people feel conflicted about the police. You can oppose the lunatic demands and actions of BLM, despise antifa scum, and “support the blue”, yet the cops will still put the beat-down on you if their political masters direct them to. The cops in Kenosha let the mob burn down commercial buildings while they protected the municipal buildings.

I’ve read most of the articles. As near as I can figure out, the Prius driver was detained and released, not arrested. Los Angeles still has a law and order DA, Jackie Lacey. But if she loses in November another Soros Da, former San Francisco DA name Gascon will probably figure out some charge against driver.

    @Con Moto

I’ve read most of the articles. They’re incoherent as usual. It seems driver was detained and released. Lucky for him, Los Angeles still has a real district attorney, Jackie Lacey. If her Soros candidate opponent, Gascon, wins in November, I’m sure he’ll dredge up some civil rights violation to charge the driver.

So … isn’t animal cruelty and/or abuse a crime in Lori’s town or in IL? It is in most states … but, then, don’t forget — the Lori’s political party is the one that brags about women being permitted to kill not only their own unborn children — but even after their children are born.

The Democratic mayors, DAs, and governors are complicit in the elite-funded terrorism ravaging their jurisdictions. At this point, civil society and political process remedies will not be effective. Especially in god-forsaken Portland. I know that town and its environs well. Its systems, in particular its schools, have been poisoned. Mayor Ted’s soft and effete face is emblematic of the white authoritarian poisoners. We get the face we deserve; Ted has earned his creepy visage. And I have certainly earned my boyishly handsome handsomeness.

Blacks are terrible at taking care of animals because blacks lack empathy. They treat their dogs (always a pit bull!) with extreme savagery because blacks are amused by being vicious to animals.

I have said before that White liberals would lose their pity for Blacks if they could see the animal abuse that goes on.

Pitbull Rescue is really Rescue Pitbulls from Blacks.

  102. “Somebody should do a study of voters who primarily watch local news, with lots of raw helicopter feeds, vs. voters who primarily watch highly curated national news. Ask them whether this summer has been more noteworthy for Peaceful Protests or Riots?”

As I reported on this blog earlier this summer, the local media in Madison, WI, went anti-BLM (effectively) after the rioters tore down the statues and tried to torch the courthouse/county building.

  103. @Steve Sailer

IIRC, Bloomberg is on tape admitting that he is aware of the black crime numbers and that the police actually “shoot too many whites,” in proportion to their crime rates. But that was at some obscure policy confab and he had to apologize for knowing the numbers when his comments were unearthed in the Dem primary.

But I am really just waiting for the day when, during a TV panel discussion about racial income inequality, some major figure says “well, blacks do have an average IQ of 85, so that could be a factor, you know . . . just sayin.’”

    I know Trump hasn’t.

Trump has been very very very very very very very good about not doing anything to incite black voters. It’s the only reason he won in 2016. As crazy as so many of his other pronouncements sound, the fact that he has consistently avoided doing this suggests that the lights are actually on, and that he has some notion of what he needs to do to win. He isn’t just stumbling around in the dark.
